I recently posted this under "January Cleanse" but since I just found this thread, this is probably the best place to put it:

    Hi All,
This is day one of my 4th Master Cleanse since May of '07 (each was 10 days in duration) and this is my first time posting. I am looking forward to the support of this board to get me through what has been really difficult in the past. I have heard how at a certain point peope feel great and have more energy and don't feel hungry anymore. But that has never been the case for me and although when not on the cleanse I go to the gym regularly, I never have the energy to go to the gym at all while on the cleanse. I think the reason I keep doing the MC is that I feel so great AFTER IT IS ALL OVER. So I forget the pain on the cleanse and only remember how great I feel afterwards (kind of like childbirth I guess . I do have a dilemma that I hope someone will be able to help me with. For all three previous MCs I have done the Cleanse as directed but I have not had much luck with the SWF. I have tried on different occasions the two level teaspoons of grey rock salt, then two rounded, then a level tablespoon, then a rounded tablespoon - trying to get a decent elimination - whether it be solid or just liquid. What happens is that I wake up early in the morn (bet. 3 and 6) and have an elimination due to the laxative the night before. Depending on the time I might go back to sleep. If I have woken up after 5:30, I will generally stay awake and have the saltwater about 1/2 to an hour after I wake up. I shake it well and drink it down in between 1 and 1/2 to 2 min. And I wait. I don't know if the water is just being re-absorbed into my body but either I'll have no elimination or liquid (I understand that liquid is alright but much less liquid seems to come out than the quart that I drink). Every now and then a very small amount of semi solid. Can anyone tell me why I am retaining the water? any suggestions on what I can do? I would prefer to continue the SWF rather than to have more tea. I've read that the salt in the water is to make the water the same weight as your blood. Perhaps I'm just not getting the right proportions? As I've said I have tried everything from 2 level teaspoons to 1 rounded tablespoon of the salt trying to find the amount that will work. Should I maybe try less than two teaspoons?

When not on the cleanse I do eat meat but not inordinate amounts. I don't eat cheese and very little other dairy. I take probiotics and green food drinks almost every morn as well as other vitamins. I also try to eat a lot of fiber and avoid sugar and refined products. All this is to say that I think my eating is fairly decent when not cleansing. My major issue is that I'm about 40 lbs overweight. What do you think is causing the SWF not to be as effective as it could?
I would also like to hear from you, Peter if you read this. Thanks

I have almost vomited several times from the salt water so now I get up in the morning and just drink the water at room temp. It has the same effect for me. I still have the elimination without the "I'm going to vomit" feeling! Much more enjoyable!

I seem to be having the same problem as Rayna. I am on day 7and today, I used 3 tsp of salt today and had a little bit of formed BM about an hour later, however thats about it. I am concerned that I am retaining all of this salt and water. I have gained about a pound in the last 2 days. Also of note. I exercise before I do the flush because I am afraid to exercise after the flush since I don't want to jump around with 32 ounces of water in my gut and I don't want to lose it from either end while exercising. Any advice?
    Thanks
    Heather

Hi everyone!! My sister is currently doing the MC. She is a little overweight and was told by somebody (not on this board) that she could drink half the amount of swf because of her weight. Is this true?? She has been eliminating but I imagine there is a purpose to drinking that amount of water in the swf. I'm asking the question for her as she doesn't have internet access right now.

    Kim,

The amount of the SWF does not change depending on weight. She should drink a whole quart. If she's already drinking half that, then she should start building up until she can do the whole quart.

    Hi Rayna,

I might be able to offer some insight on this... Have you tried using different types of salt? Make sure that the salt is for sure UNIODIZED. I accidentally used iodized salt once and it definitely does not work! I have tried 5 different types of salt and I have finally found one that I really like. It has a very mild taste when diluted with luke warm water and it works like a charm, a little over an hour and I'm done (it's called Organic Sea Salt from New Zealand - very plain packaging in a plastic tube container and it is uniodized). I would recommend experimenting with a few different types of salt until you find one that will work for you. I also tried the celtic grey sea salt that was recommended on this site, but it didn't work so great for me and I really didn't like the taste of it at all. It reminded me of murky sea water. Hopefully this helps you some... feel free to send me a personal message if you want to brainstorm on this some more!

I am getting ready to start the cleanse again. I did my 1st cleanse in Oct 07 and had some killer leg cramps from day 2 thru day 7. My brother was my support thru it all he called every day sometimes multiple calls to encourage me through. I am so thankful for him, I may have stopped as I was in horrible pain at times mostly when I sat or laid down. Driving in the car with clients was the worst. I used the heating pad..helped slightly, hot baths soaks..helped the most. At mid day on the 7th day they ceased. I had ran a commercial cleaning business for 10 years without protection from the industrial toxic products I used. I believe as the toxins were being released I was experiencing the side effects. A friend of mine kept telling me not to quit as those toxins are still there and I needed to release them all the way. So happy I did. I have a new situation now... I have been in complete menepause for 5 years without a cycle and all of a sudden I have a new lease on life which I was not hoping for. Is this posible or just a 1 time fluke? (I did the cleanse a 2nd time just before christmas)

    Default Salt water flush-less salt??

im am currently at the end of day four on the MC. the first day-i mixed up my 32oz of swf and was only able to get down abt 10oz. even still the eliminations were surprising and lasted abt an hour and a half. the second day-i drank the same 10 oz of the swf and could barely get it down-i was gagging.(which was disapointing as i had read it gets easier) so the past 2 day i have been doing tea at night and in the am...problem is the cramps and running to the bathroom all afternoon at work. i cant seem to find celtic sea salt anywhere and im wondering if the swf will have the same effects if i use less salt so the taste isn't as strong???
i am going to give myslef time in the morning to do the swf...wish me luck!
    cheers!

    Unhappy Re: Salt water flush

I am on my second full day of the cleanse, although I did a couple dry runs, (one day only drinking water to see how I handled it), and another day trying the saltwater flush for the same reason. I have found the absolute most difficult part of this so far is the salt water flush - specifically just drinking it. I still shiver just thinking about it. I'm one of those people that will eat anything, drink anything, etc. But man, I just can't seem to get over how awful the salt water tastes. Are there any tips. I am using the organic gray salt that Peter recommends.
