FunkyFeet I highly recommend the swf as it aids in flushing out all the toxins the lemonade agitates. I know it's nasty for a lot of people but I just resigned myself to down it as fast as I can and be done with it. It really does make a difference. However, if you're adamant about not drinking it then try a laxative tea before bed and again in the morning in place of the salt water.

Good luck with your cleanse and keep us posted.

    Wink Re: Salt water flush

i've read a lot of posts from those who have a problem drinking the swf and keeping it down. i did my first swf this a.m. (1st cleanse, day 2) and it wasn't too bad for me (lol --> the drinking, not the outcome -- no pun intended). after all of the lemonade yesterday, it was refreshing to have something different. i did drink it quite warm, though, and imagined i was drinking a chicken broth. i also drank it outside, where it is pretty chilly right now. i'm using redmond realsalt, gourmet all natural sea salt, and it doesn't taste bad at all.

maybe it was ok for me, too, because i was so worried it would be similar to what you have to drink the day before a colonoscopy. that was something that i could barely keep down. i ended up dumping some of it down the sink.

    Question Re: Salt water flush

hi everyone... i started my cleanse this morning and had a question. I seem to not be able to deal with the salt water flush very well and one of my mothers friends who has done the cleanse before told me to take two teaspoons of salt in only about 4 oz of water ( kind of like a shot ) and then chase it with 28 oz of water. So i tried and it worked very quickly ( within 10 minutes) but i was wondering if this was the right way to go? I understand that the SWF is a very important part of the cleanse so i figured it was just an alternative way of taking it. Can anyone give me any other suggestions or correct me if I really should not be doing it like that. I really want to succeed at this.

    Thanks so much
    - Tatijana

actually tatijana, that way of doing the swf is not recommended at all. it is dangerous and we've had doctors on here agree. That concentration of salt can be toxic.

Please read the General Help for Newbies thread for tips on how to take the swf the right, safer way.

I am needing clarification on elimination. The SWF works just fine each day! I have read many postings mentioning additional BM's during the day. Are you supposed to have additional BM's in addition to the flush each morning?

not necessarily. but sometimes it happens.

be sure to read the section on swfs in the newbies thread for more on what to expect.

Does anyone know if Trader Joe's Sea Salt is okay to use for the flush? I couldn't fine the celtic sea salt, but the more I read this site, I'm a little worried since it doesn't say "non-iodized" on it. I went to the store with the book and I assumed if it didn't say "iodized" on it it was okay. Now I'm wondering.

    Exclamation Re: Salt water flush

I started the MC today.I have a small confusion about the salt water flush. For example it says 2 tsps of the salt in 1 quart of water. I do not have any containers that will hold one quart to drink out of.. so I mixed one tsp of the non-iodized salt in 1/2 quart of water, drank that.. and then right away mixed another tsp of salt in another 1/2 quart of water.. and drank both back to back.. is this ok? I want to follow the directions exactly but am not sure if that will make it lose effectiveness. Also it says to drink the laxative tea in the evening and each morning.. should I drink the tea shortly aftre the flush in the morning? is that ok? one more question... can i chew gum or suck on a mint after the salt water flush to get the taste out of my mouth? I have also not discontinued using toothpaste to brush my teeth. I hope that ok.
