Thread: Salt water flush

    Vegggeeemom,

Sometimes the SWF is difficult at first. Things that can help:

Brush your teeth immediately before drinking it. (Some people swear by this.)

Use Celtic sea salt (this is probably the biggest factor for making the SWF palatable).

Drink it as hot as you can stand it and pretend it's soup. (Or, conversely, some people like it cold.)

Drink it through a straw so it goes down faster and you don't taste it as much.

Drink it from a pretty glass, take your time, and pretend it's champagne.

But however you can, do try your best to get it down, because it's a really important and extremely useful part of the cleanse.

Thank you for those tips. I got different salt and made sure it was not idonized and didn't have cacking agents added to it.

I will see how tomorrows SWF goes. Thankfully I am home all day and don't have to worry about getting it all taken care of before I have to leave.

the sea salt i got is mortons and non iodized, there was another brand that was iodized. I couldn't find the grade b so not sure what im gonna do. Paying 18 bucks on here seems steep to me. Id rather buy a bottle at a time. I did find molasses but not sure if i can use any kind.

If the SWF tastes absolutely horrid to you, then it'll be time to look for Celtic sea salt. Otherwise, what you got will be fine.

With the MS, it's most important that it be organic, so if you find grade A organic I'd go with that. When I first did the MC last summer, IIRC, MS was $3.64 a pound in bulk. Last time I looked it was up over $6.50. So I feel your pain!

I can order raw organic agave nectar at my food coop here, though, for only $3.23 a pound (in 23-oz plastic squirt bottles), and I like it just fine.

You can use any kind of molasses. Blackstrap will have more nutrients, but then your lemonade (and your butt pee, LOL) will look like coffee!

I can't remember: are you outside the U.S.? If so, you may be able to get cane juice or sorghum. If so, that's also acceptable.

    Exclamation Re: Salt water flush

Sorry, I know this is kinda gross.....
but can you be eliminating TOO much? Is it really safe to be "going" this much? I feel like I live in the bathroom, (I'm on Day 5.) I do the Smooth Move senna tea at night, right before bed, then the swf when I wake....and I have horrible stomach cramps with both. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this normal?

    Thanks

no such thing as eliminting too much thankfully you want that stuff out out out.
the tea gives me cramps sometimes so i have to soak it for 5 mins or less. the swf, never gives me cramps. just gurgles. do as long as everything is working and stuff is coming out, you're doing ok.

read it 3 times and still confused on how to do the salt water flush. Im supposed to drink an entire quart of warm water. No way i can do that, although i guess im gonna try. I thought it was just a glass of water.

    You got it right.

You need to dissolve 2 teaspoons of noniodized sea salt in 1 quart (32 oz, 4 cups) of water and drink the whole thing first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

Often warm or hot water is easier. Using a straw is usually easier. Brushing teeth first is supposed to be easier. Taking your time and distracting yourself might help. Chugging it might help. Different strokes for different folks!

Once you've drunk the whole thing, it usually takes about 30 minutes for the first urgent trip to the bathroom. If it feels like gas, run! Because it isn't.

The eliminations will likely continue 5-6 times, always pretty urgently, over the next hour or more. They will be very watery, often bright yellow.

And then when you're done, you'll most likely be done for the day except for peeing as you drink your lemonades and water.
