I have a quick question. I was going to start my MC4 this month but I just realized there is a 98% chance I might be preganant. I know I can't do the cleanse while I am pregnant or breast feeding. Can I just drink the lemonade as a morning tea or a regular drink once a day? Believe it or not I am craving the lemonade taste and would like to find out if this is okay to drink just one or two 8oz glasses a day + regular meals.

Sure, go for it. And congrats if you're pregnant.

There's nothing technically special about the lemonade, it's not like it's something you pick up at the drugstore and mix together. It's just a fruit, a spice and a sweetner..things you could eat seperatly on a regular diet. You're not fasting so you don't have that problem of detoxing really fast and the baby absorbing it. All the weird things people crave while pregnant.. A couple glasses of lemonade can't even make the dangerous list. lol.

98%, congratulations! Wow, to do that again, how wonderful. I have always heard that lemons are really good for brain development. I would now have a lemon per day if I were pregnant, and cayenne and maple syrup are also good for you. I really personally wouldn't cleanse, you don't want any possibilities of any lack of nutrition in your system, but I would def. do one per day as a wonderful added benefit to youdr baby. Look up lemons, talk about so much added vit. c, etc.

Thanks for your responses. I have all the ingredients and will start drinking one glass a day!
By the way... I had problems getting pregnant before my cleanses(miscarried once). My first MC was 14 days in April , second 21 days in August and my third 10 days in November all cleanses in 2005. I know that somehow these cleanses helped me get pregnant (I had to share this wonderful experince with all of you). So for any women out there looking to get pregnant after your cleanses keep going!
    I LOVE THE LEMONDADE!!!

    Hello LadyLemoners,

Does anyone have any effective weight loss experience or advice for those of us in perimenopause (the transition from menses to menopause)?

I am 14 days past a 10-day cleanse. Part of the reason I did the cleanse was to try to jump start some weight loss, but I only lost a couple of pounds.

I am in perimenopause which means that my hormones are in flux, weight GAIN is easy and weight LOSS is difficult (due to a decrease in progesterone)! For the past 2 years, an extra 20 pounds have been impossible to lose! I do work out and exercise and am usually consistent with eating right. These measures always worked in the past, but in the past couple of years only keep me from gaining MORE, and are not enough to help me LOSE.

My doctor has recommended exercising twice as much (morning and evening or twice as long in the morning), which I have tried before. This is effective, but much harder to keep consistent -- I simply can't keep up that schedule for very long with working, a teenage daughter, an elderly mother, and not to mention additional post-Katrina recovery responsibilities (we're displaced from New Orleans).

Are there any foods, herbs, vitamins or other supplements or measures anyone has found effective for this? Any help, tips, or advice are appreciated!

I admit that I am discouraged. I hate to even see myself in a mirror, I look so fat to myself and have to buy such big clothes. I want to lose AND KEEP OFF between 20-30 pounds and get back to an ideal weight by living a lifestyle that I can actually maintain. But this is beginning to seem impossible. Does anyone know if weight loss is easier AFTER menopause?

    dear wfwdtp!

first of all-- you've rEALLy got your hands full! "with working, a teenage daughter, an elderly mother, and not to mention additional post-Katrina recovery responsibilities (we're displaced from New Orleans)"-- OHY MY GOD! First and foremost YOU have to congratulate yourself for everything you're doing just to stay afloat!

about "the peri-menopause"... I went through a very very very long haul about it. for one thing I gained weight to the point where I was considered "technically obese" (5'6"& over 200lbs) when I finally joined a Gary Null support group for health related issues. I bought well over $300 worth of books on menopause, and perimenopause--and read every last one! (at one point-- they were stolen from my car when I was going to bring them, and a lifelong set of diaries and records of my period and health issues on my way to a "naturopath" who was supposed to help with "natural hormones" NOT THAT HE DID!) But I was desperate! nothing seemed to work, and I was convinced it was "the change"!

I'm not just talking about weight, it was like my whole system was completely out of wack, and I had A LOT OF HEALTH problems. a conventional doctor suggested that I undergo what could be a very painful procedure, with only a slim chance of helping-- to diagnose if I had interstitial cystitis so that I could be put on a medication that I was later told was not really helpful. it was at that point--that I was desperate enough to make serious change in my life: I went cold turkey on dairy, sugar, white flour....I joined the Gary Null support group, I started juicing, eating totally organic. A miracle happened: without even RESTRICTING my caloric intake I LOST WEIGHT! I lost something like 50 lbs. I felt better than ever!

this lasted for quite a while (years) and then I hit more "bad times". again I blamed it on the "perimenopause" which by the way, is a period of time that is supposed to span 10-15 years of a woman's life. at this point I lost all interest in having sex, I appeared to have ZERO libido, I gained weight all over again, and it seemed impossible to lose! I was convinced it was the sexual end of my life! friends of mine kept trying to tell me that maybe my interpretation was all wrong. I had my hormones measured, I went to endocrinologists.... I was DESPERATE FOR STUFF TO TAKE! my therapist recommend variious treatments... this also stretched on for a while...

finally a guy came along & cured all that -- because he fell for me & I FELL FOR HIM! all my supposedly hormonal problems melted away. I lost weight, started looking good...

then-- and this is all embarrasing to say-- I felt like he wasn't crazy about me anymore-- what do you think happened? WEIGHT GAIN! Gained 30 lbs in a very short amount of time. Kept it on for QUITE A WHILE. the scale just didn't seem to budge. I TRIED WHAT SEEMED LIKE EVERYTHING! I even started running and swimming EVERYDAY. I kept looking at the damn scale-- AND NOTHING WOULD MOVE for months and months and months. Finally I read this book on juice fasting . It wasn't like a complete miracle...right away-- but it was the beginning of realizing that I wasn't addicted to food and could live without it. It took me many months (like over 3) but I managed to lose 10 lbs by juice fasting first one, then 2, then 3 days.... It really helped. That's when my friend told me about the Master Cleanse...

Sorry if this has been too long winded a story, and I'm actually embarrassed to admit all this in public-- but what am I trying to say?

You can REALLY GET DISCOURAGED thinking that the "perimenopause" means weight gain is NATURAL at this time, and very difficult to take off!

You can feel OUT OF CONTROL about your body, and just desperate-- because of things they say!

Part of what helped was that in reading that book on fasting (which I don't have the reference here-- but I mention it in the "sex" thread...name & author) it talks a lot about how fasting can help "balance your hormones", normalize your body weight, and help you to regain your libido-- NO MATTER WHAT YOUR AGE! Â*

The other thing is that it may take a while, because the number one reason I PUT ON WEIGHT is always emotional! When I struggle with difficult issues in my life-- it just automatically goes into my body-- because of the whole-- stresss thing-- and eating for comfort.

So, what I would say: is you gotta LOVE yourself for all that you're doing. You have to believe that your body is NOT FUNDAMENTALLY different than it's been all along. Detoxing wil help vastly with many aspects of this-- but YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO IT ALL AT ONCE! You have a lifetime ahead of you to make changes, and YOU WILL SUCCEED!

Just saw your next post. I started with the fasting because in that fasting book there was an over 50's woman desperate much like you & I have been about her weight-- who went on a supervised juice fast for something like 54 days-- AND IT COMPLETELY CHANGED HER LIFE! I was SO jealous-- but I couldn't afford to go to some spa... and do a "supervised" fast...(I also had other pressing health concerns-- like extreme allergies due to boiler-backup.) I was Â*wondering HOW ON EARTH I COULD DO A LONG FAST--- because I couldn't wait anymore. I was totally impatient. I was sick with how my body looked! At that time I weighed 170 on my own scale (which may actually have been 175...) Today I weighed under 140! (138-139) YOU CAN DO IT TOO! The reason I have been able to go this long now, is partly because I already spent months trying with the juice fasts-- AND I READ EVERY POST and tried to figure out how to make it work for me! I COMPLAINED SO HEARTILY I was afraid everyone would hate me! YOU CAN DO IT wfwdtp! Â*

Start by BELIEVING in yourself, having compassion for all that you're going through, and go EASY!

I am glad to have found this forum.. I am new here and today is day one of my MC. I have read in several places about women who suffered ffrom infertility and after 14 - 21 days on this cleanse they later got pregnant... is there any truth to this?

Also do you think or beleive will eliminate firbroids and ovarians cysts?

I am on day ten and bored with this fast. I juiced two oranges last night and made a lemon-orange cocktail. Maybe it's my period but I don't think I'll do this fast again for a while because it's B-O-R-I-N-G.
