Thread: 2nd time around, how do you feel?

Red face 2nd time around, how do you feel?

    hi all,

i am trying the cleanse for the second time, the first time i made it to day eight. well, this is my first day back and i feel weird, my stomach feels a mess, i feel like i gained all my lost weight back. i fear that i've messed up my metabolism because i didn't come off the first cleanse the right way. i am not sure if it will be such easy going this time. the novelty of the cleanse that i enjoyed the first time around is not there and i feel that i will fail and never make it down to the size that i want to be. then, i think that even if i do make it down to my ideal size, i'll prob. gain it all back in a week or so. that would really suck. what do you guys think about this? has anyone had a similiar experience and how did you deal with it?

    thanks,

    susan

I am doing my first one now so I am not really in the position to talk about the second time around, but it sounds like you are not into it mentally. This sems like something you need to be mentally prepared for before you start. Also I took this to be more of a body detox/cleanse as opposed to doing it strictly for weight loss. That may be another reason it is not working like you had hoped. just my 2 cetns. and good luck if you try again.

    acid is so right susan.

it is something you have to be mentally prepared for or you will fail.

i just finished my mc2 and am juicing right now.
i put on about 3-5lbs of the weight i lost mc 1 back in april.
i found that my detox started earlier this time around and lasted longer. i was out of it for a good week. but once it all kicked in i was coasting and feeling great. the benefit of doing it the second time is that you know what you expect and what to do so it's not all strange and new anymore.

when was your last mc? what was your ending weight and what is your weight now?

maybe you should do a week of raw or mostly vegetarian food to get your system (and mind) ready for this mc.

breaking the fast incorrectly can definitely wreak havoc on your metabolism so that may have something to do with it but it might also all be in your mind. when i eat badly i feel like a pig, literally. i can't even look at myself, even tho there's no physical change.

    Hi Susan,
I def can sympothize with the frustrations....after three kids my weight has been a battle for me ever since...11 years now. It's somthing that can really consume me if I let it.
This is my 2nd MC (day 3)..the first was 11 days. This was about 4 weeks ago. I decided to give it another go around as I was feeling pretty yucky recently with my eating habits starting to get out of control again (lots of dairy and sugar).. I originally started out at 139lbs (I am 5'5), then after the cleanse 127lbs. I gained back 5 lbs and maintained over the last month at 132lbs. Normally this would have devastated me (weigth gain) but I read that it is expected to gain back about 5lbs in water weight. So I was prepared mentally for it. And just accecpted it.
I think its important to remember that as great as any weight loss is it shouldn't be the main focus of the fast. This is a great way to rid ourselves of all the junk in our system and get a fresh start. Give our body a chance to rid of toxins and heal ourselves. You definitely can't go into this fast with any negativity. It's counterproductive. As silly as it sounds it really is mind over body. If you are going to go into this thinking you are going to fail then you will.... and what is your definition of failure? Maybe you are too hard on yourself? I think it's great you made it 8 days! You should be so proud of yourself that you made it that far the first time around....it is a difficult fast...but those 8 days gave your body a chance to cleanse a bit and heal a bit..that's awesome! I really encourage you to take the opportunity before or even during the cleanse to take a lot of time for self reflection...positive thoughts...positive goals...I find that fasting helps give me a lot of insight about myself and everything around me. That's my main goal this time around. Aside from keeping at least 5 lbs off of the weight loss I want to walk away from this with a more positive view of myself and a softer heart. (Whenever the hunger pains come or quiet time I spend the time in prayer). It helps me A LOT!..Best of luck to you Susan. You are awesome and you deserve the best for yourself and your body!

I finished my first MC 4 weeks ago also, and am now ready for my second. I went on a family vacation two weeks ago and feel like I totally screwed up my eating habits. I am pretty sure I have gained my weight back as well, I will weigh my self at the gym tomorrow. I am 29 years old and feel like I am way too young and work out way to hard to look like this! I did 10 days last time, and am trying for 14 days this time. I am hoping my headaches aren't as bad this time around. I don't even drink caffeine! I don't know why I had them so bad. Wish me luck!

Does anybody know how often you can do these cleanses?
I just got finished with my first one for 10 days, and the 2nd day I was off of it, I noticed that my head was foggy.

Also, when can you get back into exercising? I love to do Hot Yoga and spinning. I know that takes a lot out of you, so I am just concerned about passing out or something like that. Any ideas?

Oh yeah, and one more thing? When do you think I can start taking my everyday vitamins?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Burroughs recommends 3 to 4 times a year.

Red face Re: 2nd time around, how do you feel?

    Hi Folks:

I am on MC 2 day 5. I am really struggling with my cravings for food this time around. The lemonade isn't tasting as good as the first time, I am having trouble using the cayenne pepper, The taste/smell of the smooth move is really bothering me..... Anyway I am sticking it out, planning to go 2 weeks, but I am really having a very different experience than my first. Incidentally, my first MC was for 30 days, I lost 35 pounds that month, and I have lost anouther 35 since. I have lost 8 in the 5 days on this cleanse. I have radically changed my diet to almost Vegan, with the exception of Fish as my one source of animal protein. I am much healthier and happier since my first cleanse, but this second one is really tough compared with the first.... Oh well Keep hanging on there everyone, and just think about what a great thing you are doing for your health....
