View Full Version : heating water with electric kettle
February 9th, 2006, 02:56 PM
I am on the cleanse now finishing day 2, and have a question:
Burroghs says to drink the lemonade and the salt flush luke warm. Is it ok to use electric kettles for this purpose, cause some say they disperse bad chemicals into the water. If not what is the best method for heating the water?

Congratulations on completing 2 days! You're on your way now. :)
I have never heard of electric teapots dispersing chemicals in the water. Microwaves - yes, they're bad. I just warmed my water in my tea kettle Â*on my gas stove. If you're concerned about your electric pot, just heat the water in a pan on your stove.

I am sure you electric pot is just fine. Much like heating it in a pan on the stove.
I use my tea kettle... never even gave it a second thought...
Best of luck to you on your journey

why is using a microwave wrong? how do we know it's bad? we've been using microwaves for decades.

Just because we've been using them for decades, doesn't mean they're good for us.
Microwaves emit radiation, some of which can be absorbed into your food. Radiation can cause cancer.

hmmmm.... never gave the electric kettle a second thought until now.
if you search the forums you will find a link about heathy alkaline water or something. 5 years back I received a water ionizer as a "handmedown" of sorts. I did some research into it and believe the science behind alkaline/ionized water to be sound.
now that being said, there could be an argument made about the electric kettle and the effects of the electricity on the water molecules ::) I dunno its just a possibility. I've got a gas stove and a kettle that I like to use. And I'm not concerned enough to avoid using electric kettles if I have to use them...
thats just my $0.02 (two cents)

i can understand microwaving foods is wrong, but water? water doesn't have any nutrients or enzymes or vitamins. it's just water. right?
