Hello. I have taken about 2 weeks to research the 'Master Cleanse' as I am usually skeptical about these sort of things. However, I see this as a win win situation for many reasons. I certainly understand the main reason is for cleansing and getting rid of the toxics in our system, however, I have read that the cleanse is very instrumental in helping people with arthritic pain (which I have a lot of in my lower spine). My question is would it be ok to try and accomplish the 40 day cleanse, rather than the 12 or 20 days, or should one work their way up (so to speak) to the 40 day cleanse over a year or two time frame? Any feedback would be appreciated. I plan to begin the cleanse on Monday (20th of March). Hilary.

Hi Hilary :)

Welcome to the MC amd BB. You can certainly go for 40 days on your first time out. I know others have. As a matter of fact Sopheesta just recently completed 52 days her first cleanse (go back and read thru the 'what day are you on and how are you doing thread). But everyone is different. You don't know how your body is going to react, how quickly or how much your body is going to detox. My advice is to definitely complete 10 days and then just take it from there. If you're feeling good and dealing with the detox days/symptoms fairly well, then set an intermediate goal like another 5, 7 or 10 days. Some have posted that they take it one day at a time. Hope this helps, and please make sure you keep coming back to the BB for help, encouragement and posting your experiences for others' benefit.

Diane, hi. thank you for responding so quickly. I was wondering if you know what page Sopheesta's posting is on, by chance, as there are sooooo many pages to scroll through on that particular topic, and I don't seem to be able to locate a search bar? If not, no worries, just thought it may save me some time! Thanks. Hilary

Hi Hilary.... Welcome....

You can do as many days as you wish.
Longest I have heard of is 100...
Once you get going I can see how it would be very easy to go 100 or more....

Best of luck to you on your journey
