View Full Version : My 1st MC - pls help with some answers !

Greetings all !
First of all I would like to say that it is very reassuring to read all your posts here, and that to know there are other people out there that can help me go through this fast.
I am planning to start my first MC on this coming sat 3/18, how ever I do have a few concerns...
1) I have an 1 1/2 hour train commute to and from work every day. I have read that we need to be around a bathroom for at least 1 to 1 1/2 hours after drinking the morning salt water flush. How bad is this ? I mean, I have to leave my house everyday at 7am to catch the train and be on time for work - does this mean I should get up at 5am to drink the salt water flush, just to make sure I'll be fine before catching the train ? Can someone pls give me pointers on this..... =)
2) I'm looking to also lose weight on this fast, so I will be drinking the lemonade 6 times a day. When should I drink my first glass, and how often should I space it out ?
Well, I'll ask more, once I think of anything else !

You should allow a full 2 hours after the SWF because trust me, you do NOT want to be caught away from a bathroom when that SWF is having it's way with you. If you have to leave at 7am, I'd start drinking the SWF at 4:45 so that you're done with it at 5am and you've got 2 hours to be near a bathroom before you have to go. The good news is that many people find it easier to wake up earlier while on the cleanse.
While it's true that drinking less lemonade will help shed pounds, it's also true that you may experience problems like hunger and headaches if you're not drinking enough lemonade. A better idea would be to limit the amount of maple syrup in each lemonade to 1 tbsp instead of 2 and then drink whenever you feel hungry or your energy level dropping, even if that means going over 6. I like to drink my first glass right after I finish my SWF (get that aweful salty taste out of my mouth). I drink another whenever I feel a hunger pang or craving.
Remember to drink lots of water too.
The first 3 days are typically the most challenging because you're retraining your brain not to revert to food for boredom, emotions, and other feelings often associated with food. But you may start feeling fantastic as early as the 2nd or 3rd day...then you'll start looking fantastic too!

Alright, so I started today - and thanks for ALL the tips that I did receive, and also read though out this board....
After the salt water - actually, it was pretty bad to drink, but not AS bad as I thought... I made the warter really cold, and just chugged it down ! I counted all the swallows to distract myself, and also started at the clock the entire time, trying to see if I could drink it all under 2mins... It took me 3 full minutes ! Im hoping to get better at the time, maybe knock it down to 2 minutes !! Make this a race....
And I did follow nature_girl's advise to drink the 1st cup of lemonade right after the SWF - it takes that taste away....
But -- I was VERY thirsty for the next 2,3 hours after the SWF, which was good in a way - since made me drink TONS of water.
Did anyone else get very thirsty ?
Oh, and I've been cold, too......

Then - came the bathroom trips.... The are right, it took 1/2 hour for the first trip (which was pretty scary!), then another trip 5 mins after first (still scary!) and then it started to space out, and I went another 3 times. Total of almost 2 hours... Which means that I will have to be drinking the SWF at 5am, in order to leave my house to go to work (I have an 1 1/2 train commute....)
Just wanted to post a little update, since I see that a few people came to check this post out....

The SWF also makes me very thirtsy.
I drink mine warm with a straw.
Also I've been ridiculously cold lately. I was wearing a coat around the house today.

Danielleny - Oh good....glad I could help out. Yeah, I have to wake up super early too for the SWF...for me it's 4:45, but I actually leave at 5am to go to the gym so that I can be back by 6:30 to do the SWF and be ready to take my daughter to school by 8:30. I've resorted to the tea a couple times when I haven't woken up early enough for this schedule. Though not preferable (I don't think it clears your tract as well), it's acceptable as long as you get at least 3 BM's in that day.
Peanutterb - I also drink my SWF warm and through a straw. It's the only way I can bear it without throwing up. Oh, and talking about being cold...we had a dog trainer come to our house for the first time yesterday and there I was bundled up in a big sweater, a scarf AND a hat while we hung out INSIDE. She must've thought I was a total freak!
