so i tried this cleanse once before as i was trying to recover form a stomach illness i picked up while i was in southeast asia. i started throwing up on the second day -- not because i was detoxing -- but because of all of the acid in the lemon drink. it bothered my stomach is a major way. i don't know if this was only because i was so sick already or if this an experience anyone else has had. i want to try this fast again, but i am fearful that my stomach cannot handle the acid. any thoughts?

Lemon juice is actually alkaline, not acidic.

ok. well, despite my inaccurate assessment of the problem, something in the lemons was making my stomach burn and making me throw up, so i guess i am just trying to get feedback on whether or not this is normal and, if so, if it passes.

Hi msg60,
How much cayenne pepper are you using? I read in one of the posts that someone was using too much cayenne and it made their stomach hurt. Possibly this is what is happening. Try just a small dash and gradually increase the amount over the ten days. Hope this helps :)

yup that was probably me, I turned a friend of mine onto doing the cleanse.

he made a monster batch of lemonade at once (said he was too lazy to make individual portions ::) ) he dropped waaaaayyyy too much cayenne into his solution. I tried to help the guy by taking a days supply from him.... I could only stand 3 sips... I had HORRIBLE heartburn the rest of the day. felt like my insides were on fire and would turn inside out. :P

So perhaps try making a lemonade solution with less cayenne or perhaps taking a cayenne pill??

hope it helps ya out.

also were you okay with the taste of the lemonade?? a lot of people have complained about the taste of the maple syrup used... said the taste of the syrup made them puke. perhaps use a different brand this time around.

good luck

thank you all SO much. you know what -- it was probably that. my cayenne pepper dosage was pretty high. I mean, the lemonade was pretty gnarly to the taste, but i just assumed that the stomach aches were lemon related. i appreciate the feedback. i have a new confidence and a new plan of attack for my next attempt. thanks again.
