I wouldn't. That is where you get a lot of the sustinence for this cleanse. Good luck!

I don't think I follow you...Substanance? Its pure sugar with little to no nutritional value

I think you need to re-read the book. :)
Page 17 tells you all about the nutritional value of the maple syrup, and why it must be used.
You can cut down on the amount, but it is a key ingredient.

I'm on day 4 of my first MC...doing well so far, except had the WORST detox symptoms on day 2 - severe neck pain, up to the base of my skull. It throbbed, I was nauseas and nothing made me comfortable.
It was gone in the morning - thankfully.
My goals have been small - to get through each day at a time, and it's getting easier. Tomorrow is day 5 and I'll be half way through already!
A couple of suggestions:
I prefer the lemonade warm - it's like a tea, or at lunch time like a "soup" or "broth". At least that's what I tell myself.
I took myself off of caffeine/tea (my daily a.m. drink of choice) a week before the cleanse and altered my diet the week before with all veggies and soups, fruit at breakfast. It helped A LOT. I am not a vegan, or raw foodie, but I do like to eat healthy so this wasn't a difficult transition.
Anyone else have neck pain?
