Hello to day 18...

Nothing much to report - all goes smoothly except a bit of hunger that will not go away - perhaps that is normal for a longer cleanse. I'd hoped just the opposite, that I would care even less about food but not so this time.

Have a great day all!

Day 17

I have been burping something nasty... Glad to hear I am not alone;)

ttova - thanks for this I have been burping too and thought something was wrong!! Good to hear others are having it.

Day 16 for me and going strong. I had a gross coating on my tongue last night when I brushed my teeth-eewww. I scrubbed it off and now this morning my tongue is nice and pink. Will be interested to see if the coating returns through out the day of cleansing. I have never been able to scrap it off before like that-maybe it is due to the longer cleanse?

Anyway feeling great and wishing the best for all the lemonheads out there!

Smee here, on day 8, going for 9 total, doing pretty good. I've lost 7.2 lbs, which is great (always wanting more, but I'm still happy with it.) Hope I can keep it off.

I did have a bungle today: I accidentally ate 3 dried peas! *smacks forehead* I'm hoping that doesnt derail my progress for today and tomorrow.

Seems kinda funny though. At least it wasn't candy or something like.

Hi Connie.

I'm at day 15 and yesterday was the first day I had a desire for food. I read somewhere that a pink tongue and hunger are the best signals that you're coming to the end of your detox and you're getting ready to stop. If you're at that stage and you are clear of detox symptoms, it's a good window to stop. If you keep going, your body enters another cycle of cleansing. Again, this is from reading not from personal experience but I have noticed how detox comes in waves.

I had this last night as well (day 14). What I'm noticing is that the longer I go the more I notice small signs of detox that come and go. Three days ago I had a skin breakout on my neck and chest and I also had hives for three days. All gone now. Very interesting how the body works!

Day 17 and feeling good. Last night and this morning someone told me I was looking "sexy." So that's good...still not back to my summer weight, but every compliment helps keep me on track. :)

----

Has anyone heard of someone doing the MC with Fibromyalgia or Gout? Can it improve his condition? Would his detox symptoms be too painful? He told me last night he had muscle cramps all over his body. Burroughs says, pg. 16 of the 1993 edition, re: the master cleanse, "When to Use It - When sickness has developed - for ALL acute and chronic conditions..." I think the cleanse would help gout tremendously, and wish my mother would go on it to cure her gout. She drinks cherry juice and other subtle dietary aids, and hasn't seen much improvement.

The source I used was linked in the post - it is an online version of Burroughs in pdf. Handy for searching by word and copy and paste sourcing... Probably much easier for finding specific references, too. Much easier to hit "search" than to have to leaf through the book every time! I'll have to check it out.

So you know the joke about the guy who is stuck on his roof in a flood and won't get in the row boat, speed boat, or helicopter that comes to save him because God has it covered...? Then when he dies of exposure he asks God why God didn't help and God asks why the three options he sent weren't good enough?

I'm taking your post as a sign that I should stop. I have been arguing with myself for the past two days as to why I should continue...

My tongue is pink, I felt energetic until yesterday and now I feel just empty and vacant and sort of lacking... my coworker just asked my why I had such a blank stare on my face - I'm usually in trouble for making the "wrong" face - not no face at all! My mental clarity is gone and not in a detox way that I am familiar with. I think I'm just done. I just did 10 days in November - perhaps my reserves just weren't there? My diet pre November was VERY poor - since then I've been good, but maybe not for long enough. Everything I want to eat (and I do want to EAT) is a vegetable so perhaps this mythical "21" days is just silly. I'm getting a hair cut tonight (is that a good idea on a blank stare brain!?) and I think I shall go buy oranges and soup fixins... 18 days is a nice enough number I suppose and if this is really about health then I believe it is time to stop and build again.

Peter, i had a question for you.

I currently picked up your book and I wanted to ask where in it or on your site can I Find info on what to do if you have acid reflux? I was just diagnosed with a minor case but I have a Hiatal hernia. the Specialist said to aviod acidic foods and beverages (ie, Coffee, Beer, Lemonade) I was given a perscription for Pepcid. I really want to do the cleanse do you have any suggestions or alternatives so thatI won't keel over from to much lemonade acid burning my stomach.

Welcome! Have you had an opportunity to read the Burrough's book? There is an excellent 'testimonial' about one of the first people he suggested the cleanse for - a man with serious ulcer problems. In that case through the cleanse the body was able to repair itself over time. That man was also concerned about the acid which would surely cause great pain, but he did not have problems with the lemons at all.

Have you tried searching the site for acid reflux (http://www.therawfoodsite.com/forum/search.php?searchid=799047)? I would also recommned checking out the general information for newbies thread (http://www.therawfoodsite.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1154) - lots of good info there!

Good luck

Why are you doing this? I don't do anything I don't feel compelled to do. You say you "need" to do this and you're "determined" to do this but you "can't". I would suggest that if you had a big enough reason to do it, a big enough WHY, you wouldn't have posted this.

Today is day 11, I fell terrible. No energy, no drive to do anything. I hope this my Day 14 cycle. I did do a 3 day ease-in; therefore I have been at it for 14 days. Tongue is still not pink, but it looks better, less junk on it.

MIND GAMES...

*puts on psychologist hat*

Well - are you sure you really want to start now? For me I know when I'm ready... a window seems to open up on the calendar that I can fit the cleanse into and I sort of know it's time. I review in my head why I want to do it (good health, poor choices in diet that need a reset, a feeling of control of my self, other stuff...) and then I guess I just dive in. No ease in, just jump off the cliff and go. Maybe if you sat down and journaled about why you think this is a good idea for you? no one else needs to read it - so be as honest and frank as you want with yourself. Then read it back and see if you think you are making sense. Once you start - get that back out and read it any time you feel like you are stuck or are wanting to cheat or quit. Basically set an intention and be mindful of it.

In the end we are only accountable to ourselves - if we make ourself a promise: is it easier to break than one made to a loved one? a coworker? Why is that? If we do not love and support ourselves, how will we expect others to do so?

*steps off philosophical soap box*

I am going to take your advice and write why I want to do this for myself. Believe me I do have a big enough why. Thanks for the support. Hello everyone - finishing up day 16. Decided to go from 10 to 20. Going to see how I feel at the end of 20 and maybe do another 10. I really enjoy the longer cleanse. I found when I did the 10 day I felt like I had gone through all the cleansing tough days and quit when it became routine. I felt I mist out on the meditative outlook that comes on after that and the light feeling and general well being. I'm really enjoying this. Even spent a couple hours this morning shoveling some heavy snow (long driveway, lots of sidewalk) right after completing the last BM from the SWF without taking LA first and still felt great. Had contractor coming in and needed to get the cars out of the driveway in time so they could pull their trucks up.

This time I am finding that I'm really hungry after the 4th LA though.

I did start mixing lemon and lime in the LA just to mix things up. I've also added some of the rind/pulp after making the LA to my water glass just to give it a little extra flavor which is nice. I don't think that should break any rules, since in Burroghs book he actually mention throwing some lemon rind in with the lA and spinning in the blender (Pg 19 in the 1993 ed)

I am drinking more water (aside from the LA) this time, which should be better.

Anyway haven't been on for a couple days, so congrats to everyone who's completed their goal and or on the transition back.

For those back a few pages that were struggling with the SWF, I've been using the Celtic Sea salt for all the cleanses I've done. I've always had to do 1 level tablespoon of salt for it to work routinely. I learned that on my first cleanse. Slowly upped from 1 t to 2t then 3t (1TB) was the ticket, so been just doing that since. Also even though I've been using the same salt I found it a little bit of a struggle just downing it the first cleanse. What I learned there was that I was using chilled water and that was the issue for me. On the first fast I went to slightly warming the water to 100 degrees or less and it was much easier to just down 2 16oz glasses straight away and even just up end the quart and get it all down quickly being careful to take a breath if I needed and not taking in any air. This time around I've simply just drank everything at room temp. I do keep the extra bottle or two of the LA in the fridge though. BUT - the SWF goes down just too easy now. I make it the night before and let it sit over night to completely dissolve and just sit overnight. I found that the saltiness wasn't as noticeable (more mild if you will) and I drink it readily. It actually tastes kind of good this time around. So try letting the water at room temp, add your salt and let is sit to mellow overnight and try that to see if it works better for you.

For those having trouble with movements with Smooth Move, I have always used it. I only do this in the evening as I so SWF in the AM. 11PM is the right time for me so it doesn't wake me too early in the morning. During my first cleanse I had to experiment as it wasn't working. I found I had to use 2 bags of SM to get results. Been doing that ever since. Of course there's the SWF forum on this site which has lots of other info to help you out, but though I would pass this along.

Good luck all - I'll check back in in a few more days to see how everyone's doing.

Hello Everyone

Second day off the cleanse, and doing well enough. The discomfort I was experiencing toward the end of my cleanse is no longer. It appears I somehow developed 'gas'....Lots of burping which had me doubled over :(. Life is good again !

Connie; That was great advice to GlamourBabe ;)

Happy Cleansing !!!

To complete my previous thought, remember and focus upon why you're so committed to doing the MC. We all go in the direction of our thoughts so by focusing on the why, the struggle will be automatically replaced by enthusiasm for your purpose. Also, reading inspirational material while on the MC is a fantastic exercise. Not only do we get to rid ourselves of toxins but we get to fill the void they leave behind with positive thoughts. The Power of Now is an excellent choice. Best of luck in your journey!

Connie, so it looks like we're both breaking fasts tomorrow. My tongue has been pink for a few days and I really feel ready to eat. I cannot wait until I'm ready to have some bok choy. It's been haunting me for nearly the entire cleanse. :D

End of Day 18 here. Feeling pretty good. All these days off the past few weeks made it hard to get up this morning, but once I got going I felt much better. Only 3 more days until I ease off. I'm glad I'll be easing off the cleanse over the weekend, I think that will make it much easier. I've been working out while I've been cleansing almost every day. I'm beginning to feel a bit sluggish during my workouts, and I think I'm needing some protein to help with that.
Good luck all for the rest of the week!

Thanks for all the support on my decision to break the fast - I knew you guys would be there for me!

Grocery store trip was a success lots of good veggies. Made my soup for later ...and put too #$%@ing much cayenne in it! Second time I've done that recently... guess it will be good for me even after the cleanse - anyone know a way to tone it down since I made about 2 gallons of soup to last for a week? Maybe it will even out once it mellows (why do I think the opposite may happen?) My oranges are ready to squeeze tomorrow morning.

Ursa - enjoy your OJ too!

Off to bed for some good sleep - will check in to see how everyone's holding up! Keep on squeezing!

Thanks for sharing that - the number 18 having that meaning is pretty amazing! and here I was thinking it was a bad thing - more like exactly what I was aiming for! A very good omen I'd say.

Enjoy your soup! I'll be working out as well very soon - kept wanting too these past weeks, but really felt I would be pushing it to start a routine on the cleanse - if I was already active then no big deal, but it didn't feel safe to me to put my body through that. Looking forward to dropping the next 10 pounds through exercise!

Hi everyone!!! I wasn't going to do the cleanse this January. I did a 10 day last august and thought I'd do one once a year but I feel so cloudy and heavy inside that I decided today that I'd start tomorrow. Im sleepy too. Hello crap in my system!!!!! I got something for you and it's called the master cleanse ;-) yes I'm talking to my toxins haha I'm happy to see so many success stories out there! My goal is 21 days. Good morning all! I still have a nice pink tongue. It was a moment of truth when I looked in the mirror because if it had suddenly gone not-pink I don't think I would feel right to proceed with breaking today. :p I still drank my tea last night and also just drank down the saltwater. I figure I may as well finish yesterday's job. I've got my oranges ready to hit the citrus juicer and also have soup ingredients waiting. I'll probably have some juice after I finish another glass of water.

Connie and Amy, it's such a treat to be suddenly in synch with the two of you!

Betty, congratulations on recognizing your body's need to cleanse and making the decision to do it.

Thank you, everyone, for being here every day. It really makes a huge difference to have this support and camaraderie to succeed. Most likely next time I update, I'll have had some juice and maybe even some soup.

Hello all! I am on Day 8 of my cleanse. I honestly can't tell you how many times I have done MC. Maybe about 7-10 times. I usually only go to 10 days, sometimes 14. I plan on going to 10 this time.

I really haven't felt anything this time. No real detox symptoms (except cravings like mad). Feel like I really haven't been eliminating like I should, or at have in the past. No sure what is going on. I will admit that I haven't been drinking the minimum required amount of lemonade each day. Sometimes I am busy and just forget, other times I am tired and taking a nap. Napping is not a new thing for me, I have always taken naps. So I am not sure if it is the amount I am (not) drinking.

Day 19
weight loss 16 pounds;)

No weight loss this morning:(
Forgot to do the lax tea last evening.. so its my own fault.

Feeling great otherwise! NO carvings yet. But have noticed that I am cold.
Will go to day 20 on Thursday..
Friday will be OJ ( can I substitute Grapefruit juice)
Saturday will be soup
Sunday will be salad
and Monday is dinner party time
Really wanted to lose another 5 pounds before coming off as I am afraid of the weight gain. But feel so good...in control .. Love my flat stomach... Now if I can start working out and adopt a healthy meal plan life should be great..

Day 3:

So far, I have been unable to get more than 4 lemonades in. Will that be a problem? I'm trying to get in six (I am about 40 lbs over weight).

Had massive headaches last night and a tough time sleeping. Headeaches yet today but going to try and sleep it off.

Good morning Day 18
total lost so far 14.5 lbs. And gee if I wanted to stay on until I got to my ideal weight, I'd only have 20 more lbs to go (yeah, not gonna happen - but at least I'm jump starting, resetting, and hopefully going to have better habits that help afterwards).

It's amazing how effective (explosive?) the SWF is when you really guzzle the water the day before. I've got to keep that up.

It's also pretty surprising that there can still be brown semi solids in there after 17 days.

I didn't quite get the minimum LA in yesterday, sigh. So I was a little weak feeling this morning. Lowering the cayenne helped with the heartburn I had a few days ago. But yesterday I got full on acid reflux. Belching and burning. So I couldn't face more LA and just drank more water. I seem to have more issues like this in the afternoon/evening than in the morning, so I'm going to try to drink a lot more LA this morning, and concentrate on getting the water in in the afternoon. I'd like to go to bed tonight without feeling like a sloshy beach ball.

Good to read your posts - encouraging that so many of you are finishing-jealous that I have 3 more days! My tongue has stayed pretty pink, but it isn't 100% yets....so though I have continual thoughts of ending I will press on to the end.

No weight loss yesterday but today made up for it with - totally down 18 which I love. I don't want those heavy bloated insides back!!!

I will make my last trip to Whole foods today for lemons and also pick up oranges, grapefruit and vegetables for my ease out plan. I keep focused on that-can't wait to chew me some food!

You are not getting the minimum required calories which will not only make you weak but could also wreck havoc on your metabolism and cause you to gain weight when you go back to eating. You should be drinking lemonade every time you feel hunger (as much as you need). This may be partly to blame for your headaches.

So far, I have been unable to get more than 4 lemonades in. Will that be a problem? I'm trying to get in six (I am about 40 lbs over weight).

Had massive headaches last night and a tough time sleeping. Headeaches yet today but going to try and sleep it off.
Try to get the 6 lemonades in - it's only a little over 600 calories and you need it. If you don't you will be more likely to feel hungry, or to feel weak, and have that cause you to drop out. It might help with the headaches too. That and water water water.

Are you making them one at a time? I use a 1000ml camelback bottle that holds 3 servings. I take the bottle to the computer with me and try to set a goal of getting it down before noon. Then I've got more leeway on getting the second bottle down. Early on, I try to get 3 bottles in so I don't have hunger/weakness issues.

Thank you ever so much...

Well my ease in day has gone great...All I have eaten today is fresh fruit, and I had a simple bowl of veg for dinner. Drank plenty of water, and I joined the gym. Tomorrow is ease in day 2 and then on for the real thing. I can do this!!

Looking forward to getting to know you all a bit more.

Day: 38

Had a great SWF this morning, switch to the new salt was a winner; also made it hotter then usual. Than about an hour later BAM!

Been getting really irritated with some people going on about how i must eat something.
My gut reaction is F*** you, I was going to ease out after 40 days but actually will do 50.
Need to follow what's best for me and ease out of irritating arguments.

listening to people telling me to eat does put me off wanting too, however; I now have my dehydrator set up and have some mangoes ready to 'jerk'. Got no central heating in my house and although I don't usually feel the cold. Now I feel the cold. Also ride a motorbike,
never dress warm enough and it chills my marrowbones.

But yeah, such a big difference it's made to my body, I really wish Id kept a video diary, at the start this was my intention but I just thought at the time it was a personal thing and didnt want to be parading around on the internet. But personally I can see/feel the improvement and am amazed at what can be one in such a short amount of time.

Been a bit stressful as granny was ill and I got to go and take care of her, ahhh sweeet etc but Jesus she talks.... like running commentary, im meant to be having hippy 'me time'. She also shows love by giving you food, thus she was the granny that kicked me out her party at christmas as i wasnt eating.

Add raw Peel Pototes cut in quarters if using Bake Potatoes size Potatoes and cook Potatoes and then removed them before they get overdone. This will take some of the Pepper out

Hello! First bit of advice is to read over the GENERAL HELP FOR NEWBIES (http://therawfoodsite.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1154) thread - it has a ton of helpful information. Also - and I'm not trying to be a smart alec! - be certain all of your measurements are accurate... many folks have major issues when they accidentally substitute a tablespoon measurement for a teaspoon or vis-versa! Good luck and welcome to the madness!

hey all.. i'm here on day 11 out of x amount of days. I'm just going til my body says stop. I drink 7 lemonades a day, 1 in the morning after my SWF, 3 at work, and 3 after work before my lax tea. A pretty good routine i've got down. The last 2 days though my tummys been grumbling like crazy, i'm not to sure why because I was fine for the first nine days then POW. Could this be my body telling me to break the fast? Or should I just up my lemonade intake..

Hey Guys this is my third attempt & I'm on day three, end of it really. Not hungry at all. Forcing the minimum 6 daily. Like most the SWF is my least favorite part. Incredibly thankful for this group, the posts make it better. Off to brew the smooth move & wind down for bed. Have a great night.

Congrats on getting past the 10 day mark. Keep going! The MC seems to come in cycles. It's different for everyone and it's different every time. I don't measure how much LA I drink...I just drink whenever I'm hungry and I have tons of energy and never have desire for food. I'm on day 16 BTW. Hope that helps.

Good Morning Fellow Lemonheads!!!

This is day 16 for me and my last day for this cleanse. I will do a lax tea tonight and a SWF tomorrow morning then onto the fresh squeezed oranges. What I am looking forward to the most is getting rid of the chills, I always get so cold during the cleanse.

As of this morning I am down 9 pounds, my goal was 10 so I am almost there and I'm happy with that.

Keep squeezing and have a lemony day!!!!!

Day 9. I started feeling really bad yesterday around noon. I increased the amount of lemon in my usual mixture. Woke up this morning, had my tea (I try and try to do the SWF but I just can't get it down). A little bit ago I started cramping...bad...went to the bathroom and eliminated a BUNCH of mucus. Like ropes of it. It was crazy. Feel so much better but still cramping some. Wondering if I hit that mark of really starting to detox and move all this stuff out. I was planning on doing 10 days. Starting to think I should keep going. But psychologically I want to be done.

I am on day 11 of my cleanse (last 2 were 10 and 29 days). Just wanted to say that even though I am not able to do the salt water in the a.m. ( would have to get up at 4 a.m. to be ready for my hour commute and it was painful sitting on the toilet for 1+ hours), I achieved awesome results on my 29-day cleanse. I was able to stop using my steroid asthma inhaler and stop the allergy meds--even my daily headaches got fewer. I also had unbelievable energy, not tired at all, and my thinking was greatly improved. I think I am approaching that point now in this clease so I plan on staying on it a few more days. For me, the difference between the 10 days and the 29 days was vast. I do have a concern that I have not seen addressed in the book or on posts. After the 29-day cleanse I notice I have a great deal of gas (in the gut) and it doesn't seem to matter what I eat. I typically have a large salad for lunch and fruit during the day and never had this problem before even with eating things that cause gas (beans, broccoli, etc.) . I didn't start taking a probiotic until about 5 days after the cleanse and this didn't seem to help. I even increased it to 2/day. Any suggestions?

Day 20
Didn't weight myself for the first 6 days of the cleanse but am down another 11 pounds from day 6 till now so figure I must have dropped almost 17!!!

I was aiming for 21 days but....Last night I got out of the tub and felt really queasy. My knees buckled and I found myself lying on the bathroom floor. Hurt my arm and found myself on the floor a second time. Still dizzy today so I am coming off one day early.
This time I am going to force myself to come off as Burroughs suggests..instead of telescoping the four days into two.
Luckily a whole case of Honeybell oranges arrived from my friend in Florida yesterday so I am really looking forward to fresh squeesed goodness.

Question

does one continue to drink the lemonade while doing day one and two? ( the OJ and soup)
Not clear in the book..

Day 19.

Just got back from the pediatrician - testing my son for strep. He's not that bad off, but his brother just had strep last week. And this is the kid that threw up all over the place last thursday too.

I drank all my LA fairly early yesterday hoping to ward off the evening belching, acid reflux, heartburn. But then it hit me anyway about 9pm, and I hadn't even drunk any LA since about 5pm. This morning, I'm belching already.

I keep telling myself this is a detox symptom and I'll get over it soon, but my husband keeps saying gee, it might have something to do with only drinking acidic lemons all the time. If this keeps up I'm going to have a really hard time staying on.:(

Day 17

Good afternoon everybody!

I'm doing great today and have decided tomorrow is my last day. The MC is getting in the way of my work and I just can't keep it up anymore. I'm very happy and grateful with the results that I've achieved and I'm looking forward to doing the ease out this weekend so I can be back on a regular diet next week.

Though my primary focus was detoxing and disease prevention, I did manage to lose 12lbs as of this morning and I have reached what I consider to be my ideal weight (male, 5'10" at 168lbs). I am vegetarian and will be going raw vegan after the cleanse so I'm expecting continued detoxing and improved health over the prolonged future. I'm equally grateful to have had access to this forum (my first time here) and have the support from fellow lemonheads.

Have a great day everybody!

Good for you! There is nothing better than getting rid of junk we've been carrying for God only knows how long. A little discomfort is a very cheap price to pay for ridding yourself of toxins that can cause major disease down the road. Congratulations! As for the detox process, everyone is different. At 18 days, this is my longest cleanse and I'm very glad that I went past the 10 days. 10 days is the MINIMUM and I equate it to doing 20 minutes of cardio...just enough time to warm up but not enough time to build conditioning or burn fat. It's what happens after 20 minutes of workout and equally 10 days on the cleanse that really makes a difference in my experience and from all the testimonials I've read. Keep going for as long as you can. :)

I am on day 11 of my cleanse (last 2 were 10 and 29 days). Congrats on your journey. It's difficult to assess why you're having gas without knowing more details about your diet (and I'm certainly no doctor) but something sprung to mind given what you said. The probiotics after the MC are very important and should be started immediately after the cleanse (during the ease-out period). My fist thought is that, especially after 29 days, waiting 5 days to take probiotics have caused your body to have a tough time transitioning to food. Some people can get very sick when they skip the probiotics. Maybe you're having an easier time because your health seems to be quite clean. Just a thought.

Day 2

Man I must be the late one! :o) Today I woke up really mellow, and that turned into the desire to sleep at work. haha I didn't though... I have a class tonight till 9 and I hope I make it. I noticed that there was like 3 full cups of mucus in my bms this morning, more than any cleanse I've done in the past, and more than any colonic. I was happy about that. It was unreal lol I'm lucky I don't live with anyone because they'd think I was insane looking into the john admiring my bm. I can't wait to sleeeeeeeeep tonight! That's all for today. Oh yeah, I feel way less bloated already...... it's awesome!

Hi Kat Lady
Ahhh, so wish I'd done a yourtube thingy, been quite a journey. Got so much together whilst on this cleanse. Here's my thoughts:

Physically; I've lost around 12-14kg (26-30lb) depending when i weigh myself.
My face has become more defined, puffyness gone, more cheekbone and jawline.
Less redness, much smoother well balanced skin
Waist shurnk by around 4 inches or more.
Whole body more trim; but especially belly+arse, all my cloths now hang off me and feel great, some look blatently too big now.

1 examle; i brought a 70s tassled hippy waistcoat; thought it looked like an easy rider dennis hopper type thing. When I got it and tried it on I looked like a fatty go go dancer.
So anyway, i tried it on after so many weeks on the cleanse and it looks great.

I have a coal fire, bags of coal are 10kg (less weight then ive lost) If I pick one up im amazed at the amount of weight that's dropped off.

I feel lighter, because I am lighter. Literally I can Jump higher and feel the extra 'air time'. I can do 80 press ups straight off due to not hauling the extra weight. There's a skip in my step.

So ok, why the 40 days (minimum), Im thinking once you're into the cleanse you've already made the commitment; the hard work and discipline; make the most of it. But listen to your body.
As long as it's doing good for me i want to continue with it.

I think the first 10 days or so your body is getting used to it, once into the 2nd, 3rd week I found it was easy to just keep on going, like your body is accepting what your doing "Ok so this is whats going on, ok then carry on while we do some cleansing". I always resent the softly soflty approach as in "if this is your first time, just do the minimum", I see it as your doing this for your own good, so do the best you can do whilst keeping a check upon your self. I have no respect for the GPs here in the UK,
as in I would not think of asking their advice, with common sense and google you can learn more about your own body and diagnose yourself.

So, apart from physically; Mentally which is what makes the biggest change,a long cleanse gives you a real dicipline and power over food. My sense of smell is amazing, I can almost 'eat with my nose!'
I've brought a dehydrator and this afternoon spent it cutting and preparing mango, strawberry and pineapple - the cleanse has inspired me to eat good.

I've applied for some new jobs, feel much stronger within myself, done things that i put of for ages (relaunched a rockabilly club I run). all good. But every one should do their thing and what feels right for them.

I personally feel like going a few days over the 40 at the moment as it feels such a breeze.
I actually think coming off the cleanse may be one of the hardest parts of the cleanse (yeah that and the delicious swf!)

I've been getting a lot of flak from some family members. like really giving me a hard time. Got kicked out my grannys christmas party as i wasnt eating! got told to not come to another family party if i wasnt eating etc. It really just made me more intent on keeping it up.

In the last few days I feel like the cleanse has optomized; regular weight loss and energy levels and so on. I feel quite well balanced.

Im sat here with my new club ready to roll, job offers coming up and a 'dehydrator' full of mangoes and strawberrys which will be my thing after I ease out.

rock on!
Leo

Hi Everyone! I hope all is well... DAY 14 for me. Today's my last day and I'm looking forward to wrapping up this cleanse. I've been craving broccoli BIG TIME! Last time I craved Spinach and Kale towards the end of my cleanse. This leads me to believe my body's definitely in need of some nutrients in greens. I look forward to providing them. LOL. :)

This will probably be my last cleanse for a while as I only plan on completing them quarterly. I plan to maintain my pescatarian style diet with limited intake of meat and dairy.

Is anyone a vegetarian or vegan that could recommend alternate sources of protein that's NOT soy (allergies)?

Also, has anyone discovered an alternate way of breaking the cleanse FASTER (like by a day) that's NOT so hard on your stomach? I have a medical procedure scheduled and I need to eat something sooner than the advised time frame but don't want to end up with what I've heard other call "death cramps."

Thanks in advance... Have a wonderful night...

End of Day 20 here! Hooorray! Only one more day and I'm so ready for it. I feel light on my feet and ready to eat some fresh fruits and veggies. The idea of soup and salad is mouthwatering.
I really don't like the OJ day. I'm not much of an orange juice drinker in the first place and it's just not my favorite day, but a change of flavors will be welcome!
I have not had much energy today and I think a lot of it has to do with the dreary weather we've had here. It's just not motivating to get out and work out so today I'm taking it easy with some pilates work instead of cardio.
Will weigh in on Saturday morning to see what my MC2 totals are. Really not wanting to put ANY weigh back on, I'm liking the way I look and feel in my clothes too much. Glad I've increased my workouts as well - another great way to kickstart good habits. Got that wedding I gotta look good for in a few months!

Good luck GlamourBabe on beginning your cleanse! If you ever feel like quitting, try to get on here and vent it out. It helps a lot!

Ok so I don't know if this board is up to date but I figured I'd post anyway. I am on day 9 of the cleanse and am very much not impressed at all. I had no energy this whole cleanse. My skin cleared up for a couple days and now it is back to the way it usually is. I have been doing everything right and have gotten almost no results. Oh and I haven't lost any weight. I feel like this was a waste because I hardly did anything on the whole cleanse since I felt so little energy. I could hardly get myself off my butt to go to the store. And I'm usually very energetic! Working out a lot and always on the move. It's terrible. I want to stick it out to the end but I wish the phase out process was quicker. I want to eat to regain energy. My mind has constantly been on food. At least I gave it a try but I wouldn't do this again. I don't think it's fair to say it works for everybody since everyone's body is different. I am normal weight and young and this just drained me with no results. Very disappointed all my hard work and drive was for nothing.

Thanx for the encouragement. I really needed it today. Feeling a little sorry for myself. I'm not hungry, but I'm having a lot of trouble drinking the LA due to belching and heartburn. My kid was eating pringles and it made me feel pretty low. I wasn't craving the pringles. I just wanted to be able to eat whatever I want! But you are right, I know I need this both to lose more weight and to see health improvements. And it sure is easier to stay on, than it is to go off, wait a while, and then try to start again!

I have no respect for the GPs here in the UK,

It's the same here. You have to go to the doc well prepared. Last year after my longest cleanse I had my cholesterol tested and it dropped from 275 to 175! I've never seen it below 200 even when I was younger, thinner, and working out. And the doc thinks it's because I took his advice and take vitamin D and fish oil. I wouldn't dream of telling him about the MC.

I personally feel like going a few days over the 40 at the moment as it feels such a breeze.
Dang, more power to ya!

I've been getting a lot of flak from some family members. like really giving me a hard time. Got kicked out my grannys christmas party as i wasnt eating! got told to not come to another family party if i wasnt eating etc. It really just made me more intent on keeping it up.
That's really funny - and sad at the same time.

In the last few days I feel like the cleanse has optomized; regular weight loss and energy levels and so on. I feel quite well balanced.

I can't wait to get there. It's easy right now in that I don't get hungry and it's kinda routine. But it's still a struggle. I want to feel all that energy that I keep hearing about!

Hi katlady,
I never really noticed 'the energy' - just started getting on with things; in fact had so much i was getting on with i worked through the night a few times, felt like the cleanse cleared my mind to move forward, sharp and alert.

Day twelve, 7pm, and i am SO TIRED. Wow. My teeth hurt today, my eyes hurt, and my brain hurts. I never had very many detox symptoms before this. I started juicing my lemons in my Hurom juicer, skins off, further strained after juicing. I hear it's supposed to make for a more intense detox.. and i think i'm coming to believe that, haha. Now to finish my lemonade, get my tea in, and GO TO BED!

Very disappointed all my hard work and drive was for nothing.

wow I can't believe how tough this has been on you .
Are you sure you were drinking enough?.

Ok so Day 1 half way over, after 2 days ease in.

I am doing ok so far...I have had a few thoughts of comfort eating but pushed it to the back of my mind.

Feel so sad that I have let 'myself go' I am only 24...:( Oh well, onwards and upwards..

hey, good for you for sticking with it! that's half the battle! you should look at it in more of a positive light, your mindset is everything. just think.. you're only 24 so you have plenty of time to bounce back. and the master cleanse is for sure the best way to do it! good luck :)

Day 13

It seems i've caught a little bit of a bug. my dad brought the flu over to my apartment, but luckily i've never been susceptible to it.. it just gives me sniffle/coughing/sneezy symptoms. the amout of stuff coming out of my nose though! i'm just going to make sure i get a ton of sleep and drink more water to flush this sickness out. but, i thought that the cleanse heightens your immune system and you shouldnt get sick while on it!?

I understand where you're coming from with the emotional state. I started this fast 6 times before it stuck. I'd make it thru the day and as soon as evening hit I'd start binge eating followed quickly by tears and incredible amounts of self loathing. After I made it thru the first day the tears stopped and I was sure this is what I needed to do. Now I'm on day five and amazed that I've made it this far. I just follow the book to the letter.I'm going to do at least 10 days, but may go further. And, if you can, read and re-read the posts here over and over. I sincerely believe it is the support I found here that managed to get me through the first four days.

Hang in there. The MC is a very personal roller coaster. Sometimes there are emotional things that come up. I read somewhere that emotional experiences leave a print behind that is stored in fat cells and as you lose the fat, past emotions can resurface during the MC. This is good stuff!!!

Being on the MC is all about detoxing and getting sick is part of that process for most of us. We should be looking forward to getting sick as it expedites the detoxing process and its a good sign that the MC is working for you. Unlike when you get sick off the cleanse, you will likely experience very quick recovery so there's that to look forward to. The LA and water are probably some of the best things you could be taking to clear up that sickness.

Hi Ursa! I was just looking for a thread on probiotics, but didn't see one. I've never used them post-cleanse before but I figure I really should - especially if I make this cleanse an extra long one. What kind do you take?

Amazing, I don't want a hamburger, but the thought of pureed squash soup has me drooling...

Day 40!

Huzzah! - Considering easing out tomorrow; should be starting a new job on Monday & would prefer to not be hovering around the toilet in the morning. Can anyone tell me, when 'easing out' with the orange juice does it cause a lot of toilet action!

Wondering if there's less explosives on the lemonade then the easing out? Read somewhere that the first solid food you eat can bring out with it a lot of loosened crud from the intestines.

I would still like to get rid of some more body fat, but guess the next stage wold be to eat healthy and excercise. Eating hot food would be good, doing all the swf and water over the freezing winter in a house with no central heating was rather tough.

As far as eliminations for me on the OJ time - since I am not doing either the tea or the SWF things actually stop almost completely for a day or two. (Where I am right now) There is almost nothing going in with OJ only - and nothing "forcing" it out... Once I start the soup things begin to flow - but it takes a day for things to work through the pipes? So By day three or so things "start back up." So far I have not noticed any thing getting pushed out with the first solid BM...

Rumor on the street is that one should add on OJ days for extended cleanses - not sure how to calculate that for you - but I have seen posts on this in the past so it may be searchable... not sure the proper key words to narrow that down though... Good luck!

Hey folks = 18+3 here...

Ease out going well - OJ, grapefruit, veggie soup: these are my new best friends! (of course you guys are all still up there too ) Never thought I'd actually crave the rye crisps, first time I had one I almost threw up! Now I can't wait until I can have the next one (yes... I know... sparingly!)

Only problem is that since I stopped early I have a large bag of lemons that need a home - or a recipe!

MC Day 21 Check in.

I have felt pretty normal for the last 4-5 days. Normal as though I was eating already. I haven't felt extremely tired or energized. I think I have plateaued in weight loss because I haven’t lost weight in about 3 days. Maybe using a little too much syrup...

I do notice that after some salt water flushes I get very dehydrated and others can tell. They say I look too skinny. I think my skin gets a little yellowish… After the saltwater flush I drink lots and lots of water.

I’m mainly tired for the workday. Only getting about 6-7hrs of sleep. Once I wake up at 5am!!! I can’t seem to go back to sleep.

I’m shooting for 23 days, maybe 30… The sight and smell of food makes me miss it. Don’t really crave it, but the smell seems almost foreign to me.

The other night I had a dream that I ate a piece of chocolate, once I realized that I was on the fast I spit it out! LOL

If you want to know anything else send me a Private Msg and will check next time!

CONGRATS BUNGHOLIO!!! 40 days! The bit about not wanting to hover around the toilet while at a new job made me giggle. I totally understand your concern. I don't have any words of advice since the only other cleanse I did was for 11 days, and easing out was a snap. Not sure how it changes at day 40. Dude, you did 40 days - sooo amazing, congrats on that and the new job!

I'm on day 23. It's getting easier. My tongue is still white with a hint of pink, so I'm hopeful. I'm shooting for 30 days, and I can totally do 7 more days.

Congrats to all of you on MC!

I don't remember when I've been this cold.Guess its time to invest in that electric blanket lol. Oh well. I'll drink another LA and follow with some water...keep focused and all. Enough whining.
On the bright side my tongue is white & I still haven't smoked. Oh and I'm sleeping great.

18th and final day!

It's been an interesting one for sure. First I got no sleep. I went to bed at 12:30, got up at 3:30 back to bed at 6:30 and got back up again at 8:00. I had a number of meetings lined up and only managed to take down one LA at around 11:00am. At 1:30 I sat down at a lunch meeting. I drank tea and watched my friend eat what would otherwise seem like a great meal and had zero desire for food. No hunger whatsoever and phenomenal level of energy. It's now 3:40 and I'm just about to drink my second LA. Definitely ending the MC on a high note! Looking forward to shopping for oranges later tonight and off to a farmer's market tomorrow morning. What a great experience this cleanse has been!

Have a great day everyone!

Well, today is the end of day 19 and I am easing off tomorrow. Some relative have unexpectedly arrived and want to have dinner on Sunday.

When I think about easing out I feel kinda sad :o I am not sure i really want to quite having gone this far. It would truly be much easier to continue on than to start allover again! I will echo what others have said before - having gone this long for the first time I can see how at 10 days you are only just beginning to see the benefits.

Good luck to all of you and see you on the other side soon!

Hi everybody!! I have been so busy that I haven't had time to get on this BB like I usually do when I do the MC. I think that's a real key to doing this cleanse too -- keep busy!!It is really an opportune time to get all those things that you have had o your to do list done as you have about 3 extra hours a day or more not having to eat and clean up the kitchen (unless you live communally and are on dishes or cooking. Ha!) Anyway, my husband and I are on day 7, and it has been the easiest cleanse yet for me. We go to the gym every other night and we have lotsa energy. I want to promote again the virtual energy idea I made up where you can promote yourself to have will power when around food. Just look at the food and think to yourself, "I know what this tastes like. Let me make believe I am eating it. Yum!! Okay, that's over with. It will be there for me once I complete my cleanse. That will be my prize and I will enjoy it more then anyway." Then just walk away and get your mind on other things. This really works for me. It's funny how we talk about nice restaurants and places we will go when we get off the cleanse, and these are really carrots to keep going till you reach your goal. It is so worth it, so don't give up!! You'll thank yourself in the end when you reach your goal. Know that your body will thank you also for getting detoxed, and you can start re-evaluating how you are going to make the needed changes in your eating habits now, make the plan, write it down and then stick with it once you are off the cleanse. It really is a new lifestyle that you can have for yourself. We love it!!! It's a great time to do this MC right after December as we eat all the Thanksgiving and Christmas stuffed foods that stuff us then. The only down of it is that it's cold and my body gets chilled more easily in January. But I try to stay rugged up. Gotta get my second bottle of drink. I try to start it at 4pm, and it's getting late. Here's to another day of MCing!!!

Haven't stopped in for a couple days, hope everyone is doing great.

Day 19 for me and really haven't had any issues. This is what I like about the extended cleanse beyond the 10 day. You typically have worked through all the hard parts/detox symptoms and get into a groove. All the good stuff to me is after those 10 days. It's like a meditation now. Very relaxed and calm. Good energy. Food smells great and I enjoy it at that level without any particular craving. I love to cook so I have taken a page through some of my favorite books and picked out a few recipes I'll try once I get off. All the snow we have been getting has been a good source of exercise as well. Lost about 16 pounds or so. I noticed weight loss stalled at day 14/15. But I noticed this on my 40 day as well you tend to hit a plateau now and then. But as they say the weight loss isn't really the point. I feel so great knowing that I've not been doing all the coffee, alcohol and other stuff and way beyond getting the holiday weight back off, etc.

So think I'm going to go for another 10 days. Might stop at 28 days instead of 30 so I will get back into a little semi solid food before my business trip on 2/2 rather than doing the post cleanse thing while I am trying to do business travel. We'll see.

Looking forward to moving to a good diet/exercise plan coming off the cleanse to continue with weight loss. Trying to get down to my "fighting weight" for our 30th anniversary trip.

Something interesting in my local Whole Foods, wondering if others have seen in in a WF near them. I noticed this 1/3 when I first when in to get supplies for the cleanse. Right at the front entrance, first thing you walked into was a display with Grade B maple syrup quarts around the bottom of a bin full of the bags of organic lemons, at the top was a stack of organic cayenne and at the very top was a little rack with recipe cards for the Lemon Cleanse. It's still there last time I went in. Found that convenient if not interesting. Wondering if they will take it down end of January.

Lydia - yeah, pretty much the same for me with the food thing. I really don't have cravings per se I just see it as something to look forward too. When I smell the food I feel like I'm actually participating I just enjoy the smell on its own.

bwylde - looks like we're "day" partners. Congrats on your day 19! Hope it continues to go well for you.

mcster - Congrats!

soonergirl1972 Days 3-6 can be that way for me (chills) I just do the blankets, etc where the sweats, heavier clothes. I still see that occasionally after 10 days but way less.

biglu - Yes, those plateaus happen as far as weight loss in the extended cleanse. Saw the same on my 40 day and this one too. Just ignore that scale, that's not the real point here anyway. Stay with it. Might help to stop looking for a couple days.Don't expect to loose the same amount of weight everyday especially past day 10. Maybe add some light exercise.

betty09 Awesome/Congrats!! It's like a whole new life after 40!!

Day 21. Officially 3/4 of the way through the cleanse.

I've been busy for the last 3 days. Tried to type a post on Thurs., but got interrupted and never got back to it. Too much to catch up on now...but I would like to say congratulations to mcster and bungholio on completing their cleanses!!!

Bungholio - The only problems I've had with the oj day are - couldn't drink it straight - had to dilute it with water; drank too much oj and got a slight rash; and once I did a road trip on oj day and got some very painful gas from sitting around not moving all day + all the acid. But then, I've never gone as long as you have, either. The gas incident happened after my 28 day cleanse in July '10.

I've had great weight loss this cleanse, with hardly any plateaus. I think this is because I upped the amount of cayenne. Still, this cleanse seems interminably long to me. There have only been about 3 days so far when I felt I was operating on "automatic" or in cleanse mode. I find myself longing for anything warm and softly solid to hold in my mouth. I haven't had any "high energy" days yet, only about 3 hours of it, about a week ago. I am thinking that this may be because I am not losing any "new" weight. I still have some lbs. to lose before I'm back to my summer, after cleanse weight. I may have to push myself back to that point and start losing "old" fat in order to break into new toxins, release them, and then feel the euphoria. We'll see. If I can just hang on that long...

At this point, I am telling myself - only 8 more days, only 8 more days...
I am getting compliments on my appearance, again, which is always nice. But discouraging changes in my practically non-existent love life have kept me from feeling satisfied with just compliments. 8)

If anyone knows anything that actually works at eliminating stretch marks, please let me know. Thanks.

Hello all! It's my day 21+1. I just squeezed my first glass of OJ. It's much better than I remember last time. Probably because it's the first new flavor I've experienced in three weeks!
Anyway, got on the scale for my final weigh in and I've only lost 1.5 pounds since day 14. It's okay, though, because I'm down to 120 which was my goal for this cleanse. I want to be at 115 for my July wedding and with continued exercise and eating right I should get there easily within the next 6 months! I'm sure I'll put on a few pounds just due to having food sitting in my bowels and all, and it's okay and I'm mentally prepared for that.
We went grocery shopping yesterday and I LOADED up on lots of fruits, veggies and whole grains. I'm really looking forward to eating some healthy and filling grub!
I'm very happy with the results I got from this cleanse! I definitely feel it is more beneficial to push it more than the minimum of 10 days. I plan to do the cleanse again in June, although I may not have time with preparation for the wedding to do an extended cleanse. We shall see.
I'm so glad I kept going last Saturday when I was having doubts. I think when I got on the scale and saw only a .7 pound loss from day 10 to 14 I was discouraged. It's about so much more than the scale and these last seven days have taught me that!
Good luck to everyone in each part of your cleansing journey! It has been encouraging and insightful to spend these last 21 days with you!

One question - at what time today should I start my probiotics and how many doses per day should I take? I completely forgot about this on my last cleanse and I don't want to do anything wrong this cleanse after so much time and effort! Thanks and happy Saturday! I'm off to hopefully find the perfect wedding gown today! :)

Congrats on your journey and hang in there. Have you exercised? This is the first MC where I experimented with exercise and I'm really glad I did. I think I read somewhere that it has a great effect in accelerating the benefits of the MC. It certainly did wonders in terms of increasing my level of energy. If you want to start slow, just go for a long walk. If you're up for it, go for a jog. You can always stop if it doesn't feel right. And as an FYI, the first 30mins of my first workout was quite dicey. I was borderline ready to stop. Then I hit a stride and had the most euphoric workout I remember ever having. Kinda like the cleanse...the first few days are the worse.

Hope that helps.

....got stuck on a plateau for a while till I tried having 32oz of water after I drank my SWF in the morning and before I had any lemonade.....thanks for that tip.:D Does everyone find that each cleanse is so different that you cannot even guess-ti-mate what is going to happen?

All rugged up with thermals and having hot epsom salt tubs for the shivering cold hands and legs

Awesome, congrats.

Yep, each one is very different. I'm on day 18, supposedly my first day on OJ (haven't had any yet) and my SWF triggered a BM with solids for the first time in a while. Now wondering if I should stay on?!?!

This cleanse has been amazing. The fist one was, well...painful.

Stay warm. I was having those chills a few days ago.

But here I am. Day 5 of the most trying cleanse I've ever been on. Always have weak moments the first
few days, but this cleanse? Every day is a weak moment. Maybe because I waited an entire year to return...

I was planning on a short cleanse before I started. Maybe that is the problem. The mental steeling needed
for 30 or 40 days didn't happen - so planning on 10 days I'm just not trying as hard to redirect mayhaps?

Either way. I'm here. I'm cleansing. I'm excited to see who is around from my lemony past.

Day 1 for me.

Been reading about the MC and researching it for the last 4 weeks. And for the last 7 days I did the lemonad all day then at night had a light dinner followed by the laxative tea. Only did the laxative tea at night. Figured I'd do that to prepare my body for the full thing.

Today's my first day on the full thing - no eating. The effects of the salt water flush lasted for 4 full hours. Nine trips to the bathroom with that doozy! You feel clean and energized afterward though. I'm guessing because I did the last 7 days of lemonade+light dinner+tea as prep, my body may be used to it so I'm not getting the normal first-day jitters. In the last 7 days, I did have slight aches and pains but if I chugged on lemonade all day long, it went away.

But been fine all day. I'm used to the lemonade, not feeling hungry, and I think 10 days will be just fine. I'm glad I did a kinda mini-run for 7 days prior to taking the plunge. Kinda cool how a 10oz glass of lemonade eliminates the hunger. I'm realizing I have to stay ahead of the hunger though. Gotta drink at least once every 60-90 mins. If I do that, I never feel hungry.

It's 7:45pm. Gonna go take my laxative tea so I can eliminate early in the morning before it's time to go to church. Definitely NOT doing the SWF tomorrow morning. Will do the tea again although I'm a little concerned about doing the tea twice per day as once per day in my "trial run" had me in the bathroom most of the morning. Definitely not as frequent as the SWF but at least 3 or 4 times. So I'm wondering if I add another tea if I'll be in the bathroom all day! Will try it and see though.

If anyone has any thoughts on doing 1 tea vs 2 teas, do let me know. I know the prescription is 2 teas if not doing the SWF, but I'm wondering if my body just needs one given the 3-4 eliminations I've had on that.

Getting near the end of day 20. I have a weekend seminar so I've been busy all day. Which is probably a good thing since I'm a little cranky about not eating. Ok a lot cranky. I'm not craving a particular food - i just want to eat gosh darn it.

Didn't help that they have a 1 hour break at the seminar so what am I supposed to do. I went to lunch with a group of people and just brought my LA with me. It was a chinese food buffet and boy that food looked good. But to my surprise, not a single one asked me about why I wasn't eating and what was in my bottle.

I said after the first 10 days I'd take it a week at a time - so that puts my current goal to make it through wednesday. Then I can decide wednesday if I want another week. I really wanted to make it that long this time, but right now that sure sounds like an eternity. But if I at least make it through wednesday that'll beat my longest cleanse record of 23 days.

On the bright side, I realized this morning that my bunion isn't hurting. My huband looked at it too and it's not my imagination, it's actually smaller. Course I looked up what a bunion is on the internet and it's not actually disappearing - after all, it's bone - but apparently there is usually a lot of inflammation around the bone - and that's what I think has gone away.

So another full day seminar tomorrow, so that'll keep me distracted enough to not feel so sorry for myself that I just quit or something. I'm feeling pretty pitiful though. I wish I could just be positive about it, sigh.

Hey all
day 3 of the ease off after a 20 day cleanse.
Dropped a total of 12 pounds but didn't weigh myself for the first 6 days of the cleanse so I figure it was closer to 17..

I am happy because this is the first time I haven't cheated the ease off. I actually had OJ first day, OJ and veggie soup the next( was so hungry I ate a cup of veggies) and today I had OJ, Soup and a salad..

Interestingly I actually dropped another pound and a half the last two days.
I am so afraid I will put it all back on.. I really want to lose another 10 pounds.
problem is I am a dedicated meat eater and as I am chronically anemic that will not change.

was out for dinner tonight ... My friends had Risotto while I ate only salad and two rye crackers.
I had three grains on my fork to taste it but that was it.. SO far so good.

Good- luck to everyone..

Is this the right thread to post after one comes off the cleanse?

I'm so glad I kept going last Saturday when I was having doubts. I think when I got on the scale and saw only a .7 pound loss from day 10 to 14 I was discouraged. It's about so much more than the scale and these last seven days have taught me that!

One question - at what time today should I start my probiotics and how many doses per day should I take? Congratulations on a great cleanse with such great results! Your goal weight! Awesome! Wish I were there, too.
It's very encouraging to hear you say how happy you are that you stuck with it.
I don't think there's an "official" time to start probiotics, but I usually start with my first bowl of soup.

Congrats on your journey and hang in there. Have you exercised? ... If you want to start slow, just go for a long walk. Yes, I exercise quite a bit...lol...Friday it was almost 4 hours: a one hour spin class at noon, then went to my second gym around 3 for light cardio, weights, and crunches (300) for about an hour and 20 min., and then at 5:30 to "power vinyasa" hot yoga for an hour and a half. Usually, it's just an hour to 2 hours per day. And, yes, I find that exercising along with cleansing produces the best results. This cleanse, I'm also finding that I'm losing fat more steadily and consistently, possibly due to higher cayenne intake. It's not lack of results that are getting me down, just the desire to EAT again. Thanks for the support. :)

Lahontani I am incredibly happy to see you! It's been such a long time - well - a year I guess! So glad you are around. =] Wheeee! You're BACK!
I think that alone might just give me the motivation to keep cleansing for another 10 days - just so we can cleanse together!! (And I only need to go for 8, lol !!)

Day 1 for me.
It's 7:45pm. Gonna go take my laxative tea so I can eliminate early in the morning before it's time to go to church. Definitely NOT doing the SWF tomorrow morning. I know the prescription is 2 teas if not doing the SWF, but I'm wondering if my body just needs one given the 3-4 eliminations I've had on that. Your first two days you will have more and a different pattern of eliminations than the rest of the cleanse. Also, please read the tips in the Salt Water Flush thread to help you be able to get it down (and hopefully over with) quickly. As your body adjusts to it, you may find it takes less than 4 hours. However, every once in a while, you have a weird, lingering SWF day like that. Mine is usually over with in an hour and a half. Mcster posted that he found drinking fresh spring water, right after downing the whole SWF quart seemed to make everything go faster.
I can totally understand you not wanting to risk the SWF before church. But...you don't have to do the SWF first thing in the morning....you just have to do it before you have your first lemonade. There are times I wake up, go to spin class, come home, and then do the SWF at 10:30. I wait until it's all out of me before I have my first lemonade, so that's around noon. It works for me, and I prefer doing that to having 2 teas. Many people on the BB do 2 teas - pm & am, so it won't harm you. The SWF is more efficient than the tea, so try to do it as often as possible. Best wishes, and welcome to the cleanse!

Is this the right thread to post after one comes off the cleanse? Congrats on your completed cleanse, and even more kudos for your discipline in the ease off days! That's always harder for me than the cleanse itself, so GOOD WORK!
It's so encouraging that you even dropped another 1 - 1/2 lbs. on those days!
There is an "after the cleanse" thread, which is sometimes dead, but can be busier at this time of year when so many cleanses are ending. But it's perfectly ok to post here! We do become a kind of cyber-family here, and it's nice to see how everyone is doing during their ease-off period. Just as a caution, though, some people feel really tortured reading about different foods. (Not me -- I just love hearing what I have to look forward to).

Haha! Hardcore. I decided to take it easy and have been running 10mi every third day. I weight train too but I'm avoiding any kind of resistance training while on the cleanse to avoid burning muscle since there is no protein intake. How did you find weight training? Working out while on the MC definitely supercharges the cleanse and I don't mean weight loss. Naturally sweating helps with detox and I found moving around seems to have accelerate the cleansing process and keep one energized. Ditto on the cayenne intake. I found my sweet spot at about 1/2 teaspoon and it certainly seems to provide more grit to scrub off toxins with. Don't forget that desire to eat is one of the clear signs you've detoxed and are ready to resume your regular diet. Best of luck!

Yep, thanks for the reminder. I'm on day two of post-cleanse already. :) I always listen to my gut and it was saying "you're done". That and yes, my tongue is pink and my desire for food resumed. I'm doing a little experiment inspired by my BM as well. Since I was taken aback by seeing what appeared to be some sort of intestinal lining, I added a tea spoon of psyllium to my last two OJ's yesterday. We'll see what happens today.

Day 22. 7 days to go, 7 days to go, 7 days to go....
Was feeling re-motivated until I got on the scale today and it went UP. UGH!!! I usually measure myself when that happens, so as not to feel discouraged, but I didn't have the time. Could just be a fluke. I'll up the cayenne today and see if that helps.

I was taken aback by seeing what appeared to be some sort of intestinal lining, I added a tea spoon of psyllium to my last two OJ's yesterday. We'll see what happens today. Some of my other exercise is hardcore, but not weights. I had a shoulder injury last year that kept getting worse instead of better. Believe it or not, all I'm lifting are 15 - 25 lbs. (with my arms). This is a big accomplishment for me - being able to do 25 reps, 3 different ways, without pain. I'm just slowly trying to work those muscles and joints back up to par.
I do like to get a good sweat up, though. Maybe that's why my scale went up this morning. I did work out yesterday, but didn't sweat as much as usual. Hmmm....I also took about a 2 -1/2 hour epsom salt bath, just because I really got into this book I was reading, so I just kept adding more hot water to the tub chapter after chapter, lol. :p
I've been wanting to eat every day except maybe 3 or 4 on this cleanse, so I can't go by that marker this time...I don't "feel" that I'm ready to quit yet. I'm just not in the right mental state to enjoy the cleanse this time. I do hope that will change for this last week.
Weird about the intestinal lining...how are you feeling? Any bowel irritation? Let us know...

Day 2 of my first cleanse:

OK, I was so afraid of urgent need to eliminate at church this am that I did not do the tea nor the SWF this morning. I had only one elimination before going to church, unfortunately. I have a few questions now that I screwed that part up today:

1) Some folks suggest that the tea is more effective for cleansing and that the SWF isn't as effective as the tea although it's fine to use either one. I do notice that the SWF eliminations (pardon me on this one) don't have much odor, but eliminations with the tea are WAY more odor, which makes me think it's more effective but I'm not sure. Anyway, can someone comment on that?

2) What are some tips for making the SWF go by much faster? Please, I would love to know how others are getting it done in an hour!

3) I have a 7:45am doctor's appt in the morning and I've got no clue what to do about choosing the SWF vs the tea. I'm afraid of doing both as I'll be in the car for about 45 mins heading to the doc. I know I can go to my appt then do the SWF after I return but I get SO hungry in the early morning that I crave the lemonade. If I don't have it, I get lightheaded.

Thanks!

Hi, alliphil!

1) I personally think the SWF is way more effective. I think the reason the tea BMs smell more is simply because they're so much more concentrated. But either can be used in the morning.

2) You can't make the SWF go faster. It takes about 2 hours, generally. I think you might be confusing people who get it "down" faster (i.e., drink the whole thing) with getting it "done" (i.e., finishing with all the eliminations).

3) My rule of thumb is: If I have something to do in the morning, I do the tea. It works far less predictably than the SWF but the subsequent eliminations usually don't start for several hours. If I want to be in public during the day/afternoon, I always do the SWF because then I know I can trust that I'm done.

I didn't exactly understand you, but you should not do both the lemonade and tea on the same morning under any circumstances.

And I also wouldn't wait until after your appointment, because for the SWF you can't even drink anything ahead of it. That's too long to wait, IMO. So for tomorrow I'd go with the tea, myself. In the alternative, you could get up at 4:30 or 5:00 and do the SWF. :)

Good luck and happy cleansing!

Alliphil - I think Kathy misspoke in her final thoughts above. I think she meant to say "but you should not do both the SWF and tea on the same morning under any circumstances" and I agree with each one of her points!

One thing I would add is that for me - I swear I can smell the tea odor with my eliminations when I do it both am and pm...

As far as making things go faster, when I get up at 5am to do the SWF, I usually curl back into a ball under a blanket and pretend that I am not awake...on these days it takes two hours. On the weekend when I can sleep in a bit I find things move a bit faster and I attribute this to the fact that I am up moving around doing some light chores and such. I think perhaps activity moves things along?

good luck!

Lahontani I felt immediately better about this cleanse after seeing you were here! I've been struggling hardcore but as soon as I
saw you were cleansing too I started to believe I could actually do this. Woot for board buddies! The scale went up 3 - THREE - pounds on day three.
I was two pounds higher than where I started. Talk about frustrating. They came back off and now Day 6 I am down nearly 8 pounds. Not as amazing as the some
cleanses, but I am satisfied with it. I planned to start right at the New Year but dead schedule was suddenly packed so I had to put it off for a few weeks.
But here I am!

We have stayed close to home but will get out her out and walk some next week. She is setting the length of this cleanse. My hope is she goes for 30 to 40 days. I feel that energy rush, that almost euphoric feeling today that I have been missing the previous 5 days of this cleanse. I really was starting to feel very
discouraged that it was never going to show up. I usually feel wonderful after the first few days, but this time around the first 5 were almost torture. I
cleaned like a mad woman today and feel like I might be ready to start exercising again (which I haven't been able to do in the last week - I've been dead!)
Speaking of exercise I just saw Lahontani that you are exercising like a freaking mad woman! That is incredible. I hope I get up to that this cleanse, in
previous years I've been able to exercise 2, 3, even 4 hours - no sweat! (Har har.) You rock woman!

I feel like the boards are much slower than they usually are in January. Is that actually the case or did I just miss the early January rush? Not complaining,
it's just not what I expected. I am used to leaving for 12 hours and coming back to 5 pages to sift through!

Back to cleaning. Just wanted to check in.

Hey thanks y'all for chiming in and helping me figure out a few things today (Day 2, first cleanse). Much appreciated! :) So cool to know you can come to this forum, read experiences plus get tips on the cleanse. Y'all rock! I think I'm straight on the SWF vs the tea now. Will do the tea in the AM since I refuse to wake up at 4am to do the SWF.

Another couple questions:
1) Just read in another post on this forum from someone suggesting that you should not drink more than half your body weight in liquid? Just saw that. Hmm.... I drank over 80oz yesterday and I weigh 142. Is this a valid concern? I'm thinking not, but figured I'd check.

I'm pretty sure my body is needing more than half my body weight in liquid daily. I feel achy if I don't drink at least 10oz every 60-90mins quite frankly. Maybe it's because it's only day 2. I'm awake at least 15 hrs/day so that's a whole lotta drinkin'! Can anyone chime in on that suggestion to watch the amount of liquids?

2) I've not be drinking a whole lot of plain water. In fact, very little since I'm drinking so much lemonade. I'm just not thirsty. Is that a bad thing? Not sure if there's some recommended amount of water I need to take in to help with the cleanse.

Hi again!

Not sure where you read that. IMO, everyone should drink a *minimum* of half their body weight in ounces of water per day. You can drink as much water as you want in addition to the lemonade.

However, you may be drinking too much lemonade. Are you sticking within the 12-glass maximum?

It may be that your desire for the lemonade is really the thirst that you say you don't have. I suggest that you start drinking one glass of water before (or after) every glass of lemonade. I tend to drink mine at the same time: one sip/gulp of LA, then one of water, etc. (I used to get sensitive teeth otherwise.)

HTH!

I've found that when I don't drink a lot of water in addition to the LA, the SWF stops working and you feel bloated. I think your body needs to be very well hydrated for the SWF to work properly.

End of Day 25.

I've been having to force myself to drink my lemonade. Lately, I've been taking my first drink later and later in the day. Today it was around 3pm. I drink water in the morning and feel full. For some reason the thought of the lemonade seem so unappealing and there's such resistance in my body to go and make my drink. I've gotten myself to drink it by telling myself it's medicine and it's good for me. It's the one thing that concerns me about this last stretch.

I want to be on until day 30. My tongue is still white. My face started to breakout yesterday all over, almost like a rash. It went away by this morning. I get random chills. The rash on my thighs that broke out on day 16 is still there but slowly fading. I'm still detoxing but staying positive!

The weight loss has been a nice bonus. I'm down 21 lbs.

I'm envious. I only had the euphoric feeling for about 3 or 4 hours one day this cleanse. I was looking good a few days ago, and felt a rush when I looked in the mirror, lol, but that doesn't count as it only lasted about 2 minutes . No longer looking good, as my face and the left side of my NECK broke out yesterday. Bah!
That said, I did get about 5 hours studying and 4 hours cleaning done today, so that's something. Also, I started to repair this intricate vase that's been broken for about 6 years!! It will take days, but at least I started...;)
Yes, you just missed the January rush. About 10 people just finished their cleanses withing 3 days of you're signing in. A lot of people started right on Jan 1.
Re: exercise - I don't do 4 hours EVERY day, Whew!! But I have been spinning about 5 days a week, and the second gym 3 or 4 days, yoga only once a week, unfortunately, due to my schedule (and finances!). Wish I could do that every day. The weirdest is on Wednesdays, because I'm in an 8 hour class all day, and then go and work a 4 hour shift right after that -- all powered by lemonade. :) In my lunch break, I've been going to the gym for 45 min. of cardio because it's so hard to sit still for so long, I'd much rather move my body than relax and eat...and for now I can't even eat. I'm actually trying to figure out what day to come off the cleanse based on whether I want to deal with yet another 12 hour "work" day on just lemonade.

I was looking good a few days ago, and felt a rush when I looked in the mirror, lol, but that doesn't count as it only lasted about 2 minutes . No longer looking good, as my face and the left side of my NECK broke out yesterday. Bah!
:

Oh!! Tonight my neck has broken out, but it is more hive-like. Yesterday my face broke out all over (also hive-like) but then disappeared by morning - although I can still feel it on my skin, it's rough-like. I am assuming this is a detox symptom? I must admit it makes me worried. I just finished day 25 - i hope it gets better?

Day 23. Six more days to go.
Now I understand why my scale went up. Last night I woke up about an hour after falling asleep feeling SICK - like a cold or the flu. I have never gotten sick like this on the MC before. I probably would have just thrown it off, except that yesterday I really pushed myself until I was exhausted. I hardly ever get sick (which I attribute to the MC keeping me clean of toxins) and this just feels so strong and so sudden. I'm hoping it will go away with my morning SWF. In any case, now I CAN'T quit the MC - at least not until I'm over this cold/flu, whatever it is. Probably a cold, as I'm congested. Colds are supposed to be detoxes - a toxin overload. That just seems so unlikely. No one around me is sick, that I know of. Is it possible that I hit a "pocket" of ick somewhere stored in my fat? You're probably thinking, "Jeez, get over it - it's just a cold!" But I haven't gotten this sick in about 5 years. So it seems so bizarre and mysterious to me.

Yesterday my face broke out all over (also hive-like) but then disappeared by morning - although I can still feel it on my skin, it's rough-like. I am assuming this is a detox symptom? I must admit it makes me worried. I just finished day 25 - i hope it gets better? The good news is that hives/breakouts always get better, Master Cleanse or not. The neck breakout has happened to me the last few cleanses, but never this many (5-6?) zits at a time. I generally resort to using acne face products on my neck, rather than just counting on the cleanse to heal them. I've only had hives twice, not on the cleanse, and nothing seemed to help except time and de-stressing. Maybe an epsom salt bath?

Greetings all! Day 5 I feel so alive! I just had not one, but two hours of massage! I cannot recommend highly enough the benefit of getting bodywork during the fast enough, as a group fitness instructor (yoga and tai chi/qigong and indoor cycling) as well as being a massage therapist (LMT) I cannot recommend enough getting full body massages during the cleanse. In fact I have another appointment at 1:30 tomorrow. Yee Hawwwww! Juice it up!

Peace!

It was not until I had done a few fasts that I reached pinkness of the tongue, a lifetime of toxin seems not to be released in one fell swoop, consistant proper nutrition choices and several fasts earned me the pink tongue, I will be interested to see how long it will take this time around, I've been living pretty clean this last year.

Stay on point and success and health will be your reward................

Day 7 for Diane and I.:D
Have gotten the energy and eurphoric feeling for myself plus sleeping better. I love the sleeping better and deeper. Diane on the other hand is still in bed today. Her rheumatoid arthritis symptoms have really peaked. Lots of pain and stiffness. She is still hanging in there as she has faith that this is simply her body healing. She is such a trooper. For those of you that believe in the power of prayer send her your healing powers in your prayers she will appreciate it.:)

The cravings and hunger have been none existent on this cleanse verses the others.:) It's amazing how each cleanse can be so different. Well off for another glass of that deeeeeelicious lemonade! Keep juicing all you lemonheads....and NEVER GIVE UP!

The weight loss has been a nice bonus. I'm down 21 lbs.

I'm so with you on that one. Day 22 for me and Sick, sick, sick of LA, and if I don't pay attention to it, I'll flat out forget to drink it till the afternoon. But I seem to have a harder time with heartburn when I drink it in the evening so I have to force myself to get some down in the morning. And I find there are times I feel a little weak or tired because I'm not drinking enough LA.

My tongue is getting better as in doesn't feel furry but it's still coated. Total weight loss 16 pounds so far but I haven't lost anything in 4 days.

On the bright side I feel a little better emotionally than I did yesterday. Not jumping for joy here, but I don't feel like I'm about to cry either.

I wanted to go 30 days, but I've been doing short goals to get there and my next decision point is wednesday. And I'll need to go get more MS if I want to go past wednesday I think I barely have enough till then. I think I will likely quit wednesday if I don't get past all this weepy feeling sorry for myself business. But - one day at a time here.

And the other bright side - I'm off to take a hot bath during my lunch hour!

Day 1 of the Master Cleanse:! But, I hoping if all goes well for the 10 days, I will extend for 14 days. I welcome words of encouragement, advice, etc. Thanks!

YOU CAN DO IT!
Hang in there and keep busy...
my first MC was the hardest on my body and mind. the rest are just hard on the personal aspects, like having to avoid social outtings cause you don't want to be around food, or being questioned too much.

Think of all the yummy stuff you will eat after you break it!
I have pizza at the top of the list. (a healthy veggie 1 of course!)

Day 24
Somethings I noticed and please hit me up if you have comments.

a) when I would bend over or crouch down (like to tie my shoe laces) and then get up quickly, I felt like I was about to pass out. I like a head rush. The first 8-9days, it was sort of a headache feeling. Now, day 19-23 it feels like dizzy/pass out. ANYONE have comments on that?

b) Last 3-4 days, I have had to get up in the middle of the night (3-4times) to use the restroom #1... It didn't happen for the first 19ish days.. ANYONE?

c) Waist down from 32.5 to 30.5.

d) Someone asked me if I was sick because my face was sunken in...Smiled and replied, nope.

e) Every 7 days I will drink the tea instead of the salt water flush. Produces different results in the BMs.

If I note anything else, I will write again..

Thanks for your support!

Day 21 coming to a close. I'm soooo depressed. Feel on the verge of tears all the time. Please let this be a detox symptom and I'm going to get over it soon!

Hang in there. Based on what I've read and my personal experience during my first cleanse, this is part of the detox process. Be happy that you're getting rid of old emotional stuff that was stored in your fat cells for God only knows how long. Congrats!

No worries. I had this too. Exactly as you describe it. A pimple like-rash in my lower neck and throat area and hives in my chest and back. It will go away. Definitely detox!

I love it! Getting sick on the MC in my mind = getting rid of old junk that has been stored in your body. This is the purpose for doing the cleanse. Enjoy the process and be grateful for the opportunity to clear that crap out of your body. It will go away soon enough and you'll feel fantastic afterward.

Peace!

+1. I did a Chinese acupuncture massage (beat me up hard!) right before the cleanse. It's a great way to release toxins stored in the muscles for the LA to flush out. I also did infrared sauna and I found that extremely helpful too. For the hardcore MCers, this is the way to supercharge the MC!

Day 24
Somethings I noticed and please hit me up if you have comments.

I wonder if you're getting enough LA? How much are you drinking? Are you following the recipe and instructions to the tee? I'm mostly concerned about the dizziness and comments about your appearance.

Anyway...today is my first day on food. I am, for the first time, going to a 100% raw vegan diet. I was vegetarian before but have been doing lots of research before and during the MC about performance athletes who have adopted the diet with phenomenal results. So far I feel fantastic. I can't wait to see how I feel after the first week. So far so good.

Sharing my MC journey with you guys has been an awesome experience and I look forward to coming back in six months for another "tune up". Best of luck to everyone in your journeys and I wish you all optimum health! :)

Day 22 for me and Sick, sick, sick of LA,... But - one day at a time here. me, too. Intellectually, I know I need to go longer than my 28 day goal. Emotionally...I'm barely hanging in there. I'm actually a little bit grateful that I'm sick, because now I can break down the last 6 days into 2 shorter goals: I must stay on the MC 2 more days to get rid of this cold. Next step: I must stay on the MC 4 more days to meet my goal. Next step: if I want, I can go 2 more days for an even 30. Next step: I can go another 4 days to reach my primary goal weight. Next step: I can go another day to make it 35. Next step: as long as I'm at 35, why not go another 5 days to make it the big 4-0.
I can only think in short increments at a time. I had bought enough MS and agave to last me until day 28. Then I found another 4/5 full bottle on the bottom rack of my refrigerator door, hidden among the salad dressings...maybe it's a sign....(curses! forced into another 2 days of the MC by sneaky salad dressing bottles!)

I love it! Getting sick on the MC in my mind = getting rid of old junk that has been stored in your body. This is the purpose for doing the cleanse. Enjoy the process and be grateful for the opportunity to clear that crap out of your body. It will go away soon enough and you'll feel fantastic afterward.

I sure hope I feel fantastic soon. The cold didn't clear up with the SWF. It must be from toxins because I really haven't been around anyone who's sick. How much does a Chinese acupuncture massage cost? Sounds great! What is an infrared sauna? Do you think it would make me feel good, if I'm not generally someone who likes normal saunas?
Glad you're doing so well on the transition to normal food! See you next cleanse! (I try to do 4 a year, so I'll be back in April or May, and then again in July).

Meedis, if you're still around somewhere: I looked it up and it is Giusto's Bakery. When I look them up on the web, it looks like they only sell flour now - but the do sell sprouted wheat flour. But the other brand that I liked was Alvarado Bakery - they have several sprouted grain breads, including sourdough, plus sprouted whole wheat hamburger & hot dog buns & tortillas.

Hey all! Day 21+3 here. Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. So many of you are striving for such long goals of 21+ days. That's awesome! Way to go all!

I, too had a horrible break out. I have about 3 zits on the left side of my nose and my entire back is broken out (gross, I know). I am chalking this up to detox and it should all go away within a few days. It's just bizarre because I haven't had a pimple in 10 years or so. I feel like I'm in high school all over again. At least my pants fit like it and my skin looks like it! Ha!

Also, I've been following the breaking of the cleanse exactly with having soups the past two days and starting on some solids and salad tonight and taking my probiotics but I haven't had a BM since my last day on the cleanse. Hopefully things start working tonight or tomorrow.

Syntaxiss - I see you are from Nashville. I live in Murfreesboro. I'm curious where you shop for your supplies for the cleanse. So often on here people mention Trader Joe's and it's just not convenient for me. Do you have an alternative MC hot spot to recommend? I'd love to hear more from you! Good luck on your cleanse!

Day 6
Weight - down 8 lbs
Bust - down 1.5 inches
Waist - down 1.5 inches
Hips: down 1.5 inches

I woke up so awake and alive it was amazing. Then I went to the store on my lunch and bought 90,000 heat unit cayenne instead of the 30,000 I was using and after having 2 drinks, I'm deep into detox again - which is bittersweet. I'm sooooo irritable. I think irritability and lack of patience with people at work has been the worst detox symptom for me so far. It has taken every ounce of my whole being to not tell everyone to go away (with a much nastier phrase). And then I feel bad cause I don't want to be mean. LOL ugh... an hour and a half more and I can go home and take an epsom salt bath. Can't wait!
I hate feeling pissed and depressed like my emotions are taking control over me. I guess I have to just keep drinking and be away from people till tomorrow morning. Anyone else experience this intense of irritability?

Back on the board! Today is Day 2. I'm planning to go for 40, will probably not weigh myself until Day 10. Yesterday wasn't great, slept most of day so only had two lemonades and the flush didn't really flush anything. It did today, thank heaven. The cayenne was probably helpful today because it's FREEZING in NYC

Our last day!!! My hubby and I are glad this is over as we have been sooooooooooooooo coooooold!!
I will do a longer cleanse in the summer. But I have to stop now. It's so funny how we have been planning on going to new restaurants and a special buffet, and are so turned on with food now. We have also made a plan to eat from a bowl to limit our amounts and to also eat throughout the day so we don't have a big appetite at meal time. These are ways we can keep our weight down. Plus of course stay with healthy foods -- mainly veggies and fruit -- by keeping these snacks by our desks throughout the day. Having a regular exercise regime has also been a help this time. Well, it's been grand again and see you next time -- probably in May.

Ending day 3 tonight. I feel just fine! Today I had:

Laxative tea: 8oz this morning (plus one cup last night)
Lemonade: 50oz total
Water: 40oz total
Pepermint tea: 10oz

Weight - (starting weight 144) now 142

Truth be told, I really don't want to lose much weight at all. I'm 5foot, 6. I can probably go to 130/135 and look just fine. Beyond that and I'll look like a matchstick (and my dear hubby said he won't like that very much :-)). I do know to increase the MS if I want to slow down the weight loss so I'll keep an eye on it and see if I need to go with that option.

And let me give a shout-out to Kathy who suggested that I should drink more water. I wasn't drinking any water as I didn't feel thirsty at all. But today, following Kathy's advice, I decided to drink water after each lemonade. Somehow I feel clearer and more energized. My body must have needed the extra water. I kinda felt more alert I think.

Anyways, despite doing the tea last night and also again this morning, only two very small eliminations today. According to the book I should be having 3 or 4. Oh well, sticking with everything and we'll see what happens tomorrow.

I feel great but I've had a stuffy nose the entire time. Odd because it only comes on at night... to the point where I can breathe at night. I'm ignoring it though. About to go take my tea again.

Here's to the end of day 3! Yay! Onto to day 4 tomorrow. Ya know, this MC isn't near as unpleasant as I thought it might have been. In fact, it's perfectly fine. Then again, I did spend 7 days easing myself into the cleanse by doing lemonade all day followed by a light dinner.

Bye for now!

No kidding. I alternate between irritable and weepy. If one more kid comes up to me chomping on chips and asks me what I'm making for dinner.....I might answer something less nice than Go ask your Father! What's worse is my husband will then want to have a discussion with me about what he should make them for dinner....I told him yesterday, I don't give a flying flip what your having!

I am sitting here waiting for my senna tea to cool as I come to the end of the eighth day of this master cleanse. So far, this one has been the easiest master cleanse that I have done. I credit this to the success of my last cleanse in March of 2010. At that time, I came off of the cleanse completely by the book. It really does make a difference.

After the last cleanse, I cut caffeinated drinks way, way, back. I gave up the multiple cups of coffee and those cans of soda I drank every day. I cut back to one cup of Yerba Mate in the morning and no caffeine during the remainder of the day. As a result. this was the first time my master cleanse didn't involve enduring the usual two-day dulling headache in the center of my forehead at the onset. No caffeine, No caffeine withdrawal. Surprise. Surprise.

Now, here I am on the eighth evening. So far, so good. Hope it stays that way, and I wish everyone else the best results with their cleanses.

Day 16. I went swimming today, and it was awesome! It actually felt so good, felt like i had even more energy after it was all said and done. now i'm just winding down the day, nothing too much to report. Other than I really notice some weightloss finally, holy (not that this was my goal, anyway). I did what i think mcster suggested and started chugging water right after drinking my SWF, so i'm pretty sure that's what caused this sudden noticible drop. Buy hey, i'm not complaining.. Just one of the benefits of being clean inside and out :)

Day 21 coming to a close. I'm soooo depressed. Feel on the verge of tears all the time. Please let this be a detox symptom and I'm going to get over it soon!

Absolutely detox. You will feel so much better after your SWF tomorrow. Been there, felt that many times. Hang in there Katlady!

I have to wake up at 4am tomorrow for my SWF! I hear you - it sucks to do it so early! I don't have a choice - the few times I have done tea it has been
absolutely terrible for me. For some reason I just can't handle it. Maybe I am TOO toxic to miss SWF. As for the water, you CAN drink too much water, but
you are no where near that point. I average a gallon a day or more of liquid when I am on the cleanse. You will know if you have had too much liquid, it
almost feels like being drunk. You feel AWFUL, lightheaded, spacey... Drink as much as you feel you need.

Day 1 of the Master Cleanse: I'm a person who normally gets the colon hydrotherapy. So the no eating for 10 days has me a bit freaked out!

Welcome Curly! I assure you, do the cleanse by the books, and the 10 days will pass in no time. The first few days the eating habit really nags at your mind,
but it goes away and the feeling of wellness replaces the hunger pangs soon enough. Enjoy!

End of Day 25.

I've been having to force myself to drink my lemonade. Lately, I've been taking my first drink later and later in the day. Today it was around 3pm. .

I feel like longer length cleanses get you to that point. When I've done 30, 40 - when I get in the home stretch, those last few days, I start rejecting the
LA. I think it's becase we start allowing thoughts of food to creep back in, what we will make, what we will buy, and it makes LA pale in comparison. Stick
it out though. 30 feels pretty great. :)

Bummer about the lacking of the euphoria. That is always my favorite part about cleansing. Feeling better on liquid than I EVER do on solids. Just
solidifies in my mind that I am doing a wonderful service to myself. But - I've had cleanses where the feelings weren't there (read: last January, my
worst cleanse ever I believe. Emontions were high though as you may remember.) and you just have to power through them.

Aside from that though you sound like you are doing freaking amazing! I am --so-- excited to hear about all you are doing, physically & professionally, while
keeping the cleanse. I just love cleansing with you. You always motivate & inspire me!

Day 24
a) when I would bend over or crouch down (like to tie my shoe laces) and then get up quickly, I felt like I was about to pass out.

ANYONE?

Are you drinking too much liquid during the day? If you are drinking too much extra water (and I am talking excessive amounts here, not normal drinking)
you could be pushing too much sodium & potassium out of your body. If you are being extra conservative with LA it might be time to drink some more.
Lightheadedness might be too few calories for your activity level, weight, build etc. As for the night visits? Try and cut back your liquid intake before
bed. Your getting all nice and squeeky clean now, so your kidneys don't have to work so hard to filter through the junk. I'd cut water off hours before bed.

Today is day #1 for me. I'm really excited to start but nervous I wont be able to stick with it. I am a nurse and work nights and my sleep schedule is always changing, so im afraid its going to be hard to keep up with the routine. :)

This cleanse can be tricky with flexible schedules, but it is 100% worth it to stick it out for 10 days. I've worked 18 hour days on lemonade, I've been up at
two or three in the morning to drink my SWF. I've had some pretty tough times on previous cleanses, but it was always, every time, worth the work.
Welcome and please feel free to use and abuse this board for support. You'll find you can get through even the toughest spots with help.

I just wrote so much to other people in the other message I think I'm going to keep this short & sweet.

Day 7 was mellow. I had a pretty frustrating shoot but kept my cool much better that I would have off the cleanse, so that was nice. After feeling very
unaffected by food yesterday, tonight I am back to feeling like I want to eat. Anything. Just eat. This too shall pass, but it's still blowing my mind how
much more I am craving food this cleanse than ever before. I don't think I'd have ever hit 30, or 40 days feeling this way.

Tomorrow (obviously) is Day 8. Day 8 is always, ALWAYS a beast for me. Every cleanse if I remember correct. The shoot I have tomorrow is kind of a big
deal to me (as I've been doing it for them for a long time now) and I am really nervous that my attitude is going to suck. I've had shoots on Day 8 where I
swore I'd never touch a camera for the rest of my life ha ha. I hope tomorrow isn't that bad. =\

It's a 4:00 a.m. SWF morning so I better get to bed. Wish me luck.
(So much for short & sweet. :p)

Anyone else experience this intense of irritability?

Absolutely, positively, 1000x yes. My detox days come out mostly in mood. Sometimes I cry for no reason, but for the most part I get REALLY short
fused. As I said in my previous post - there have been days where I have been ready to give up my career because I've been so angry ha ha. The next
day I am always fine - but I for sure understand those spikes in mood while cleansing!

Christene -

I noticed you have a wide range of cleanse lengths in your signature - and I wanted to ask you about that. People, in my opinion, tend to be pretty set
in there "usual" cleanse lengths. Sometimes they go longer or shorter than the norm, but I feel like I see a lot of similar lengths. I have never set out to do a
short cleanse before this one (though once I quit at 13 days because it was absolutely not something I was prepared to do, nor was it for the right reasons)
but I have often wondered if shaking up my length would motivate me to do it more, and if I would have better results.

Are you lengths intentionally planned before, or do you just play it by ear and cleanse until your body says it quittin time, or....?

Just curious.

There is no doubt in my mind that any time people get sick during the cleanse it is part of the detox process. Hopefully it will pass soon. The massage was $40 for an hour. It's not for the faint of heart as they do really beat you up but the results are great. I'm not sure if you'll like the infrared sauna. It works a differently but feels somewhat similar to regular saunas. The thing about the infrared is that it heats you up from the inside out and it's excellent at removing toxins through your skin. I'm back in June so best of luck with your cleanses if I don't see you!

Sounds like you're having a great cleanse! Glad the water trick worked for you. It's amazing how such little details can make such a big difference huh? Best of luck with the balance of your cleanse.

Over and out.

Here is a question, whenever I do the fast my sense of smell becomes super amplified, and unfortunately what I notice mostly is the way others smell, I really notice the subtle differences in the way others smell. (and sometimes not so subtle!)It is weird I almost feel like an animal in the wilderness, I smell people approaching from afar. Anyone else get super scent perception?

I hate feeling pissed and depressed like my emotions are taking control over me. I guess I have to just keep drinking and be away from people till tomorrow morning. Anyone else experience this intense of irritability?

Hey! I totally feel you. It is day 6 here for me and yesterday I snapped at the guy I've been seeing..and then thought about it and realized it was wrong. But yes very irritable. I guess it is just detox. Need to breathe through these things.

OMG! YES!!!!!

I am always called "the nose" by my husband. But the last few days (about Day 6, 7, 8) I have been pretty repulsed by the smell of other people. I work from home so mostly it's my family. I swear they all smell like sour milk. And it's not the breath as in oral health but it's what is coming from the lungs. Because if I smell their exhale from the nose it smells often times like strong onions or like sour milk.

By chance, are these the smells you are smelling, also?

You might be much more sensitive to me. I don't smell people approaching. Just when they are near me.

Today is Day 9.

I honestly have not really had a bad time of it other than the headaches on Days 2 and 3.

Does anyone seem to have more sensitivity in their teeth? I wondered if it was the acidity of the lemons.

My SWF's don't produce much other than tiny particles with the fluid coming out. And while I am well experienced with SWF's in the past, I have not had one single "toxic butt burner" from a single one. Not even the first. I've had that in the past but this time around, not. Though I believe that the SWF that I was following before was 3 tsp of salt in the quart. I have followed the 2 tsp protocol.

It's Day 8 for Diane and I. Amazing how quickly it got to be day 8. Diane feeling better emotionally and internally but her rheumatoid still reaking havoc. We have been doing the cleanse to the T. I know she will feel better soon... she feels the same way.

I have felt great through this cleanse. Neither of us has had food cravings. The eliminations are more liquid with little strands after the SWF. I guess that is normal. Weight down 10lbs as of this morning. So all is well and good. Not sure how long this cleanse will be but thinking 14 days. I did a 30 day in Oct 2010 so I think that has helped make this one easier. Plan on 4 cleanses for 2011.

We are considering finishing our cleanse with a 3 day water only fast. Has anyone ever tried this before. Would appreciate input.

Off to make more lemonade .... yummy. :D

Day 24. Still feeling sick, but better than yesterday.
Has anyone here ever tried the liver cleanse with apple juice, epsom salts, olive oil, grapefruit and lemon juice? Or do you think it's unnecessary after a 28 day Master Cleanse? I have leaky gut syndrome, and had hoped it would heal with time and proper eating, but I haven't seen much improvement. Right now I'm thinking about doing the 3 day liver cleanse as soon as my veggie soup is gone, after my transition from the MC. Anyone with experience in this, your input would be most appreciated!! Thanks.

Today is day #1 for me. I'm really excited to start but nervous I wont be able to stick with it. I am a nurse and work nights and my sleep schedule is always changing, so im afraid its going to be hard to keep up with the routine. I also could only drink half of the salt water flush. I tried to force the rest down but my body just wouldnt let me. I hope i can stick it out!!! :) Welcome to the cleanse! Please look for the Salt Water Flush thread and read about tips to help you get the SWF down. The most common problem is that people will mistakenly use 2 T. instead of 2 teaspoons of sea salt. The cleanse CAN be a challenge when you have an unusual schedule. I have often had to make a full day's worth of lemonade and carry it with me throughout the day. I make it concentrated and then add ice cubes as the day goes on - this dilutes it while keeping it fresh and cool. Remember, it's only 10 days out of 365 - you can DO it!!

Been 3 days since my last visit here. Hit my 20 and decided to go ahead and do another 8 to make it 4 weeks instead of 30. This will give me 2 days off the cleanse before my business travel/meetings first Wednesday in February.

Today is 22 of 28 then for me this time around. Definitely feel like I could go longer if I wanted. Drank a lot more water this time around which I think helped. I often would have the water with the bits of lemon rind in it as mentioned in the Burroughs book. That was nice. I also found that the SWF was even easier when I let it set out over night and let the salt mellow. Might just be me but it seems like it definitely took the edge off and made it milder. Also drank it at room temperature. Looked at the scale first time in a couple days - lost about 18lbs so far, which is a nice adder. If I plateau after today I really don't care. I'll be doing a diet after the fast to work on weight loss. Nice to have this head start as an adder.

This cleanse has really been a coast for me. No serious issues at all. Feeling really good with all the benefits. Especially after day 5. Just seems natural. My daughter and her husband are coming over to have dinner tonight. My wife (Marianne) will at least have some friends to eat with rather than watch me drink tea :)

Good luck to all who are completing or starting and to those having "cleanse moments" hang in there - there's lots of help from the folks here and the resources on the board.

Lhaontani - the only liver cleanse I'm familiar with is the one from the"Swiss Secret to Optimal Health" book by Thomas Rau. I know that a number of people in the past who were on this board did it with excellent results (health and weight loss) after the cleanse. Based on the ingredients you mention this is the one you are talking about. The liver cleanse is added on to the 1 week intensive cleanse also in the book. Page 163 to 170 in the book details how to dovetail the Liver Cleanse into the 1 week intensive cleanse on pages 155 to 162. This is an excellent book on healthy diet with recipes that goes way beyond those two cleanses. it's a whole way of eating that is used to maintain health as part of what you eat everyday. Very detailed and informative. I remember a number of folks posting their after cleanse experience using this diet with excellent results.

Oh yes, like onions! i have been a hermit since doing the cleanse so i won't get tempted by food (day 27 here!) so the only person i sniff is my boyfriend. he has never smelled bad before, but now, i swear he smells like onions and garlic or something. it's wretched and sadly, there were a few times when it turned my stomach. i am always asking him if he ate onions or anything pungent. the answer is usually no. he'd go take a shower, but honestly, the smell is coming from within.

i feel so relieved knowing that other people have this issue, too. i got all worried that my bf was going out into the world smelling like pungent onions  now i know it's just me and my hyper nose.

I too feel like an animal. I smell everyone. Good, bad & ugly. I also have two sons which have suddenly
started smelling almost unbearably strong, and I very often work with teenagers. Teenagers full of bad
perfume and/or body odor and/or hair products.

One thing though, it's great when I start feeling hungry - great way to kill the appetite - stand in a room

Sometimes I do on the cleanse, sometimes I don't. I think a lot depends on how much water you are drinking and when. You might try a glass of water
following your LAs to rinse out your mouth a bit and see if it helps.

Surprise. Surprise.

I found the same thing this time I did it. I vowed not to drink coffee for a week before I started the cleanse as I would get severe migraine headaches. This time no headaches at all!! I know coffee is not good for you, but an occasional one is okay.

Day 45

'eased out' after day 41 with diluted oranges, relief to not do the delicious SWF in the mornign for once. Next day (along with the lemonaide) oranges & dried mango (dried 'em myself!).
Now.........I could feel something 'MAJOR' going on, like a magaton BM, so although this may sound pervo I filmed my BM. Let me tell you, it was terrific! Im talking about something like 3kg of junk,
totally filled the toilet bowl and rose above the water level by a few inches. Never 'done' anything like that ever, I would liken it to seriously about 8 standard 'stools' worth at least.

Had some nuts on the 3rd ease out day, fely a bit heavy but tasted delicious.
Brought and took priobiotics today, meant to be 30 billion good bacteria in each capsule.
Had some bad leg cramps the last couple of nights, I never get cramps; wonder if its from the stopping of the lemons and pepper too quickly causing a lack of some required vitamines.

Started a new job this week, seriously on this cleanse I've got rid of A LOT of sh*t and am getting on with sh*t. Skin feels great, lost over 2 stone. Rock on!

CheeriO Freaks!

ps - Id like to go full on organic but jesus the cost! no way i can affored it. Really annoying how much sugar is added to almost everything. Just brought a bag of mixed nuts, then see they have e numbers and sugar added. I ate a bunch of them and now feel rather gross, too sweet & sickly.

Hi Skittles31,

Losing an average of about a pound a day is not abnormal. You will find some days your weight will be the same. My last cleanse was 30 days and I lost 27lbs. This one so far is 8 days and 9 lbs. I am a runner also, you will find you will feel great at the end of your cleanse and your running will improve. Hang in there!

Well I'm wrapping up day 14 and starting orange juice tomorrow. I didn't post at all during my cleanse but I was reading all of you every day. It helps/helped.

This cleanse was a bit different than my first. The only thing that was about the same were my miserable first three days. Chills, dizziness, and nonstop caffeine headache. Next time I'm winding down off coffee in advance. I passed a LOT of solids out for the first nine days. Last time it only took about five before it was just clear and mucous. I attribute it to the pain medication I was on from August through December. That stuff really stopped me up. I'm so glad my excruciating back and sciatica pain was gone and I was able to wean myself off those pills in advance of this cleanse. I'm very happy I can start the year without them. Knock on wood.

I did this cleanse to feel better and just like my first, it worked like a charm. I'll admit, I also liked shedding the few extra pounds I didn't need. I don't have a scale but it had to be 8-10 pounds. I know I don't look so bloated and my pants are no longer too tight! My skin is looking great too.

Thanks to all of you for sharing your experiences. Like I said, it really did help even though I pretty much kept quiet. I'll be back next time.

Happy cleansing!

[QUOTE=BIGLU;86975]Day 24
Somethings I noticed and please hit me up if you have comments.

a) when I would bend over or crouch down (like to tie my shoe laces) and then get up quickly, I felt like I was about to pass out. I like a head rush. The first 8-9days, it was sort of a headache feeling. Now, day 19-23 it feels like dizzy/pass out. ANYONE have comments on that?

BIGLU, Just an FYI, this happened to me in my own bedroom and I DID pass out. Thankfully my hubby was right there. I was squatting, got up to head to the bathroom then, poof, wiped-out and next thing I knew hubby was picking me up off the floor. Guess what it was? Incredibly low iron (as diagnosed by my doc).

Oh, by the way, I was NOT on the MC when it happened so I'm not sure if my experience is totally unrelated. But just thought I'd chime in to let you know I've had the same "squat down, get up, get light-headed" issue. And it's precisely as you've described - whenever I squatted down to do anything then got up, instant light-headedness.

I've heard that sometimes you just need to pay close attention to see if your body is telling you that it's out of reserves and can't go much longer on the cleanse. Now I'm not saying that's the case for you, but just a thought.

Day 4:
50 oz lemonade
40 oz water
Weight loss total: 4lbs
Issues: Cold-brrrr, stomach cramps, stuffy nose and teeth sensitivity

I've had terrible cramping all day today. Even feeling it right now. Ugh! Very distracting for me to work. 4 trips to bathroom. Did the tea last night and this morning. The trips to the bathroom were fine (well except for the 3:30am one!), but gosh, the cramping is bad.

Thinking about switching to SWF instead although I really don't like the SWF experience. Drinking it has been just fine (I just pretend I'm drinking soup), but the 4 hrs of urgent eliminations was not good. Although that was back on the morning of the very first day of the MC. Perhaps now that I'm on straight up lemonade it'll go by faster(?) We'll see. Not sure whether I'll do tea or SWF tomorrow.

I'm soooooooooooo cold. I swear my house is at 80 degrees right now and I'm sitting here in a sweatshirt, t-shirt, tank top up top, plus long johns and sweat pants and socks below. And that is in the house people! I put on a thickly lined long leather jacket over all that if I'm going outside. Crazy!

Increase teeth sensitivity today but not too bad. Trying to drink water after lemonade as I suspect that's what's causing the sensitivity.

Well alrighty! Onward to day 5! Half way there!

thx ward naples! I will try not to freak out but someone I know lost 2.5 pounds in one day! Is is because I'm a vegetarian already and I workout that's why I'm not dropping weight as fast? Also, does menstruation affect the results of the cleanse in terms of dropping weight etc. is it safe to do salt water flushes instead of the tea at night and continue in the morning?

Day 23. Tomorrow is decision day - do I try for another week or not? I haven't reached the elusive pink tongue stage yet, but I think I'll probably decide to ease out. I'm just so darn tired of it:(. And another week won't get me to my weight loss goal anyway. That's going to take some work.

For all the super nose comments out there - I gotta say, there's only one "position" available to my husband and I right now so I don't have to smell that "stench of rotting death". I don't even think it's his breath - it seems to be just coming out of his skin.

Honey -
Congrats on finishing your cleanse! Good luck to a healthy transition and returning to food.

Skittles -
You were already at a normal, healthy weight, you were already living pretty healthily it sounds - 1 pound a day is very acceptable in many conditions, especially
starting out an active person at a healthy weight. Most people who lose a TON at the begining have a lot more to lose, have been more unhealthy, or many
times are retaining tons of water due to a heavily processed/sodium laden diet. I think it sounds like you are right on track! :)

Also, somedays I lose nothing, some (dreadful) days the scale goes up, and some days 5 pounds fall off at once. It's a process, it ebbs & flows. Don't give up hope.

The reason for tea at night, SWF during the day is two fold:

The tea stimulates your bowels to loosen what is trapped on the walls, and it also pulls liquid into the bowel for ease of waste removal. At night your body
goes into SERIOUS detox mode. It is healing time, and a lot of toxins/waste are pulled out of fat, your lymphatic system etc - and you want to get it out in
the morning with the SWF. That is what makes those two, in that order such a great team. It's the full cycle. Agitation, wash & rinse!

Cloudy -
Congrats on finishing your cleanse and feeling so wonderful! Hope to see you around in the future - and that you speak up!

Alliphil-
I can't do the tea in the morning. I cramp ALL day long with it. I hear you! It also makes me moody and sluggish. As for the cold thing? Honestly I can't believe
I am cleansing in winter again. I can't handle cold - so I decided to CLEANSE? Ha. Nonsensical!

Stay warm!

Katlady-
Decide in the morning. If you are done you are done. If going longer will make you feel better about yourself, physically and mentally - well keep going!
I've pushed myself too far on a few cleanses. I knew I was done, but kept going anyway. Listen to your body. It will tell you when enough is enough.

*sigh*

Today was so tough for me. All day long I was waging a war against myself about food. It's day EIGHT. This has never, EVER happened to me! I was pretty moody
but was able to keep my sons from knowing that. I got a lot accomplished after my shoot, and cooked an AMAZING dinner for my family that I was really proud
of, and I even sat at the table drinking my LA as my "dinner" and sharing tea with them as "dessert".

I guess I feel good about staying productive for myself & my family on such a rough day, but I am really discouraged at not slipping into the cleanse mode
I've gone into every single previous cleanse. I think I will stick to this cleanse being 10 days, then cleanse again very soon, hopefully better prepared to get
into serious cleanse mode. I don't know what else to do. Nothing is working to change my mentality this time.

I'm down about 9 pounds which is also nice. I remember my first cleanse... I was down 9 pounds in 2 days I think ha ha. Wouldn't complain if it happened again... =]

Hope everyone is well & warm this evening.

Hi everyone! My husband I and have started the cleanse a little bit early. Today is Day 2. So far so good. But I am concerned about 1 thing. My tongue isn't turning white at all. The last time I did the cleanse, my tongue didn't turn white either so I thought maybe I did something wrong. But now my husband and I are pretty much drinking the same mixture and his tongue is already white.

Any ideas? My teeth do feel "dirty" or "fuzzy" but that's about it. We are doing everything recommended and is stated in the book.

Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks

Day 24.

Well, I've had my last lax tea, and my last SWF. The OJ is in the fridge.

Ironically, after 4-5 days of no weight loss, I dropped 2 lbs this morning. I wish I could use that as incentive to keep going, but the decision was already made last night and my mindset was there. It would be just too depressing to face another LA this morning. I didn't even drink my 6th LA last night because I just couldn't face the heartburn anymore and I figured, I'm quitting tomorrow anyway, so I drank water and went to bed.

I'm still a little congested and had a sneeze attack this morning so I know my allergies wish I would continue, and my tongue isn't quite pink yet - but it's the pinkest I've seen it, only a little stuff to scrape off this morning.

So while I think I could use more detox, I'm feeling worn out, and the will to continue just isn't there.

On the bright side, I'm not fantasizing about pizza and french fries. I keep thinking about this butternut squash soup recipe I found last night. So - here's hoping the transition goes to healthier better eating and not going crazy trying to eat all the things I missed.

24 days is awesome. Remember you are part of a small percentage of peopple who are successful with any cleanse. You are one of the elite.

I would definitely incorporate coconut oil into your diet. It does promote weight loss if you research it. Use it to cook with or even on your skin. I did a 30 day cleanse last time and then went into more of a raw food and vegan type diet. The weight loss continued.

Continued Success to you.

Day 9... Today is already a good day. Had the most eliminations of any morning after the SWF...yes BUTT PEEEEEEEEE WEEEEEEE! I feel absolutely terrific. Slept deep and sound and woke up early ready to go. I love the Master Cleanse. I've decided to make my cleanse a 16 day cleanse and am going to do the the last 3 days with distilled water only. Wish me luck.

Diane alsi is feeling much better today. She said she feels more like herself. She is healing and planning on continuing on after me. She so wants her rheumatoid arthritis to improve.

Onward and upward. The Master Cleanse is the best.

day 28.

today feels like my best day ever. my face, neck and thigh rash looks like it's finally going away (thank goodness), but my skin is still really dry, especially on my face. I put some argan oil on it last night before bed and that has helped. my tongue finally has some pink in it.

on the plus side, i've had the best sleep ever while on the master cleanse (except when smooth move woke me up in the middle of the night :p ) i can't remember a time when i've slept so deeply.

i had to stop my blood pressure med while on the cleanse since my blood pressure was dropping way too low and making me dizzy and nauseated. my blood pressure is completely normal and i'm praying that when i stop the cleanse it stays that way. it would be wonderful to kiss those pills goodbye for good!

i still can't stand drinking the lemonade drink anymore. it's noon and i still have yet to drink my first glass. i do force myself to get in at least 6 cups a day. even the smell of the smooth move makes my stomach turn a bit, and i have to wait for it to get cold so i can down it without really tasting or smelling it.

after today, just 2 more days, y'all! :D

Wow! Where did all these new posts come from? Have I missed a day?!
Day 25 for me. Still have the remnants of my cold. And no weight loss during the cold, either.
The lemonade now tastes like DIRT to me. liquid dirt. oh, joy. I think it must be worth it to pay extra for the super expensive limes at this point.
I'm on my lunch break and everyone was talking about where they were going for lunch. How I long for a bagel with avocado at Rude Brothers. Or a steak and egg burrito from Burrito Brothers. Hmmm...we have a lot of "brothers" up here in Lake Tahoe, I guess. 4 1/2 more days to go. I am still hoping that the joy of cleansing will kick in sometime between now and then, and that I'll feel motivated to keep going another 5 - 10 days. :o

Thanks, I'll look it up.

Had some bad leg cramps the last couple of nights, I never get cramps; wonder if its from the stopping of the lemons and pepper too quickly causing a lack of some required vitamines 8) Calcium deficiency. Take some calcium tablets at night before you go to bed. (Disclaimer: Not a medical prescription, merely one laywoman's opinion based on her personal experience)

hello everyone i'm on day 5 and have lost only 4.2 pounds??? I'm 5 5'10 and started off weighing 166.8 ..I run a lot so I am working out while on the cleanse. I'm following all the rules as well I don't understand why I 've only lost 4.2 pounds in 5 days? I'm def doing it to be more healthy but of course the loss of weight is an added bonus.. can anyone answer my question am i doing something wrong?

You know, I'm on day 8 and there have been days where my weight stays the same and then a day later I drop 2 or 3. Overall I've lost an average of a pound a day, and that's consistent with the other two cleanses I've done. If you're losing over 4 in 5 days, you're doing something right, and by cleaning your insides up, you're setting yourself up to lose more even after you're done with the cleanse. Hang in there! :)

What day am I on again? Oh yeah, day 8. LOL I almost forgot! Down 9 lbs. Yesterday in class, my stomach was bloated and gassy. I read that when the body expels toxins it does so in gaseous form too. Very intersting... it's absolutely disgusting that after 8 days of not eating, I'm still having chunks of solid waste leave my body. WT% have I been doing to my body! I'm still a bit cravy (hungry but it's just cravings) and definintely less irritable than a few days ago (scary). One thing I noticed is that I'm still not waking up totally bright eyed and bushy tailed. I am good to go once I'm "up" but I'm not there yet where I'm up as soon as I open my eyes. Anywhoo, that's all for today. Back to work! :D

Day 26
@NewDirection - Thanks for your feedback. I have been drinking lots of water because I work out. I will try and cut back and see what happens.

I have to admit, I have been feeling like stopping at this point. Do I have 4 more days in me? I just don't know...Everyone that knows me is saying yes, but I wonder if they just want to see me suffer...

This might be bad, but I have been taking 'syrup' shots. OH so yummy! Maybe I just need more LA drinks now than before?

I wanted to get past 20 days to feel the clarity in mind and memory. My mind is clear alright, my thoughts have slowed down to the point where I'm not going 100 miles a minute anymore. My work-a-holic ways have slowed down to. Don't stay up late working anymore...I go to sleep like a hibernating bear!

On the flip side, I think my overall strength level is down and that kind of makes me feel like UGH. I can’t lift as much weight, and I don’t run as far and fast as before. Maybe it is all mental???

Thoughts?

Day 5
It's 5:45pm as I write this. Weird day.
SWF - took 3hrs to go through
Lemonade - only 20 oz so far today
Water - 10oz
Tea - 10oz
Weight down 1lb. (5lbs total)

Because of all the cramping I had yesterday with the TEA, I decided to do the SWF today. 3hours of running 9 times to the bathroom. But the good news is I did NOT have to deal with daggone cramping all day! Ugh!

That said, on day 1, I did the SWF and it was fine to drink and I had no issues with drinking it. Today, aye! Not so much. Felt like I was SUPER-full after 2 glasses, forced down the 3rd glass, got nauseous and light-headed for 2 hours.

After it all passed through I felt just fine with a pep in my step! But.... I felt SO full all day that it's now 5:30pm and I've had only 2 glasses of LA. Odd. Even worked out this morning. Been in the office all day and didn't even think to drink the LA. Sheeze, has my stomach shrunken to a pea size or something? LOL!

On a related note, nothing really came out with the SWF - tiny particles and that's it. Mostly water. A whole lot more came out with the dreaded TEA.

Anywhoo, off to go pick up my son. We'll see if I dare to return to the TEA tomorrow or I dare to use the SWF again. The choice now seems like all-day cramping or 3 hours of nausea. Um, yah, lovely choices.

Thx Betty09 for the support. It's day 6 now and i'm scared to step on the scale lol. I'm also on my cycle so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it. I'm very active so i've been running and working out as well but nothing to heavy. Does anyone know about distilled water? I am currently using just pure water and not distilled I read some where that pure and distilled are two different things and that distilled water is dead water or something. Any how is it safe to use distilled water?

8 days post my 18 day cleanse...

Oh my lemony friends - I am a mess and disappointed in myself. Maybe 18 days was too much "punishment" on my body. When I completed the 10 day cleanse in November I felt great during and after. It was easy to stay on track post cleanse even during my trip to Vegas - I had a few treats, but it felt joyous and I was able to get right back on track with most all meals and was not tempted to have "bad" stuff. Since ending this last time on Jan 18th I have been on a continuous slide into BAD BAD habits the last three days. Fast food and mega doses of chocolate - that's all I'm saying to protect your innocent cleansing "eyes and ears" (no coffee though - even decaf - so I still have some redeeming qualities...)

I just feel really at a loss to explain (to myself) why I fell so hard off the veggie wagon! One major reason I am really aware of is POOR PLANNING. I have not had an opportunity to go to the store to buy the right options - really limits my access to success... But still I didn't have to screw up like this?

If you can feel it in your heart - give me some encouragement - I kinda need it! I know I can turn it around and get back on track. I will cleanse again in May, maybe early April. But have to turn it around NOW. I tell myself, "if you made it 18 days without eating, I can surely skip that piece of chocolate now" and then somehow it is in my mouth... ARGH! HELP!

Here I am, about to go to sleep and put the tenth day behind me. This has been my fourth master cleanse in five years, and the easiest of the four. I'm feeling pretty good. I don't know if I will continue for a few more days, but at least I will remain on the program tomorrow. Just going to play it a day at a time from here on and see what my body tells me. Then again, I'm thinking that I may end this one when I run out of either the current batch of lemons, or the Grade B maple syrup.

Having a hard time of it tonight. Attended a lecture late, and was disappointed to see they had a veggie and cheese platter out. Very tempting. All the way home I was craving philly cheese steak and sauteed mushrooms. Not the take-out philly cheese steaks, though - homemade ones with very little meat or cheese, just a bunch of green peppers, onions, & mushrooms. I'm allergic to mushrooms (all things in the molds, mildew, & Fungi family) so very very clearly a detox symptom.
3 days to go....can't wait to eat.

What do you think of substituting one meal per day with a lemonade until you get back into the right mindset? Or perhaps making a big batch of one of the other flavor veggie soups (I'm going to plug my Chinese veggie soup, here, yumm!!) and having soup for lunch and lemonade for dinner or breakfast until you feel back in control? Staying good is sure harder than the cleanse, isn't it. If you find a fool-proof way of staying on track, please let me know, because I've fallen hard several times, too. :( Keep smiling...your health has been greatly improved by your cleanse, even if you (and I) still have a thing or two to learn about maintaining. :)

This may sound rude but I think you need a kick up the arse & to grow some balls!
Sounds like you are eating as a psychological security blanket or something like that, i think
doing the cleanse proves to yourself you have control over your self. But when you end the cleanse you are losing control and going for what you know even though you resent doing it.

I suggest you consider the amount of work you're putting into the cleanse (your doing the full swf too right?), then on completing it how you are spoiling the time and energy you've put in to it.

It's like if you had a suit dry cleaned and then wore it to clean the house in. You should respect the inner cleaning you have performed, perhaps confront it and go for 21, 30 or 40 days. Take some time out to relax and learn to eat again afterwards. Seems the biggest change is after the cleanse when you are more in control of yourself.

Cheerio!

ps - look into buying a dehydrator and drying out your own fruit and fruit leathers, its enjoyable and delicious.

Point taken and thank you! *reaches for boot to wallop arse with* It really is about control and being stronger than old habits...

Talk about weird? I am completing a course by a professional coach/mentor [Christine Kane (http://christinekane.com/)] and today's email lesson contained the following,

"In the past, when I was on the road for weeks at a time, I'd get home and be completely strung out on constant motion and junk food. Hooked on food in bags that made crinkly noises, and food that's zingy, crunchy or comforting.

I call it Default Food.

Default food is food that doesn't require me to be present in any way. It's food that doesn't require my consciousness or my attention.

The food is so "LOUD" that I don't have to be present to taste it.

The whole point of this kind of food is to distract me and numb me and keep me feeling comforted or sated or less depressed than I might feel.
I don't get so strung out anymore because I choose to stay conscious and present when I travel. Nonetheless, I still have times of getting hooked.

When I return home, the transfer over to healthier, present-moment foods - raw vegetables, steamed greens, rice, etc - is a challenge. I have to go through a brief period of feeling like food is boring, and layers of feeling unsafe living in a world where I can't comfort myself with crinkly baggies of food.

I'm wiser now - and it usually only takes about two days to make the transition. But I've become very aware of how easily we can get into patterns - and then convince ourselves that they're not patterns. We convince ourselves they're the truth! ("Pringles are a vegetable! I swear! I must have them to survive!")

Even though this example uses food and the body and actual physical addiction to junk, it's the same with negative thought patterns.

If you've spent years feeling low and depressed, always convinced of the negative angle of things, not trusting people, not trusting yourself - these are habitual thought patterns."

:)Good Morning All .... Today is day 24 it is the first time I have been able to get past 7 days. I had a wicked headache the first 3 days ... I figured that was caffeine withdrawal, I was a heavy coffee drinker even though I am a vegetarian. I am using the cleanse to get myself off the carbo comsumption... I was overdoing pasta, rice, breads etc....and was steadily gaining weight especiallly with the onset of menopause:eek: I felt out of control... So far I have not cheated and for the most part I feel great and I have been reading and recipe collecting to gradually turn over to a more raw food lifestyle....I have also lost 18 pounds so far. I plan on going 30 days ... :)

Day 24 of 28 for me, all is well - nothing special to report other than continued mental/healthy benefits. All the snow continues to provide the exercise I need. Another 10" out there today again that I'll get to around noon.

Congrats out to all who've completed over the last few days!

To those still working towards their goal - hang in there it's worth it.

Briefing over the last few days posts there seems to be a number of folks overly concerned about weight loss IMHO. If you make that your primary and are too focused on that it will drive you crazy.

I was over my ideal weight by about 35-40 lbs. Too much consumption in general. So yeah, I lost close to about a lb. a day this time around. Lost about 19 or 20 lbs so far. Stalled during 13-15 days. I don't get hung up on that though. It really should be about resetting and detoxing then getting into good habits and weight loss if you need it after the cleanse.

If you go into the cleanse over weight you can loose regularly until you get to a certain point. If you were already close to ideal weight you may not loose much at all except what was in your intestinal tract, which will of course come back once you stop the cleanse.

Don't focus on weight loss as your primary goal and you will be less frustrated and notice the health/mental benefits more.

Yes - I also notice smells incredibly heightened on the cleanse! Especially with people!

If you haven't tried one past 10 days, give it a try sometime. I'm amazed at how natural and good you feel after that point!

Good luck everyone and good cleansing!

Day #8 Feeling great physically, emotionally I am experiencing some ups and downs, trying to breath through it and find stability. I am going to spend time in the sauna today and try to sweat out the mental funk. This year will probably be a short cleanse, 14 days, I have planned to break on the new moon, which is Chinese New Year, the year of the rabbit. My thought was to begin with the full moon and as the moon wanes I hope to remove toxins in conjunction with the lessening of the light and as the dark moon comes my vessel empty, a new start and vigilance towards my nutritional intake.

Ok bare with me for some reason my post keep disappearing lol. thx for the support! I just don't know why i'm not loosing as much. I thought by working out on the cleanse you would loose more weight. I feel great though! I'm normally active and run about 3 times a week and do a little weight training as well but nothing too hard during this time. It's day 6 now and I'm scared to step on the scale. Does menstruation has anything to do with not loosing as much? Also the recipe for the lemonade says use pure water. I've been reading that some people are using distilled water? is distilled water safe to use?

Hey there. I don't know too much about distilled water, except it is without anything in it. I know some raw foodies that drink only distilled water to avoid calcification and additional crap that ends up in our water. I personally drink filtered water and haven't ventured out into distilled world. One baby step at a time. What works for me is to just relax and take it one day at a time and realize that I'm doing something good for my body. Yeah I might lose weight, and yeah that's awesome, but when I personally focus on that alone, I'm not successful. I also don't work out while I'm cleansing because I want all my energy to go to the cleansing process. I do walk for about 45 minutes a few times a weak and break a mini sweat but that's it. I've never worked out on them, however I know lots of people who do. You just have to find what resonates for yourself and roll with it. Try to chill on the specifics and just let it happen. :o) My toungue didn't get pink the first cleanse I did till like day 15 or something like that. Mine is still icky and I'm on day 9. Your tongue can be white for a while even if you're a raw food vegan. It depends on how dirty your insides are. It also helps to remember that we didn't get this "dirty" overnight, so we aren't going to get clean overnight either. This, however, is one giant step in the right direction.....HUGE step in the right direction. OMG I'm soooo babbling! :) Hope that helps.
P.S./ I learned a lot from the newbie faqs. Have you read those yet?

Good day for an emotional healing crisis though - I think I cried for 4 hours.

Going to bed. I can't say anything else. Blaaarrrrrrgggghhhh.

Day 26

I have to admit, I have been[B] feeling like stopping at this point. Do I have 4 more days in me? I just don't know...Everyone that knows me is saying yes, but I wonder if they just want to see me suffer...:

i think since you made the goal of going 30 days, stick with it. i wanted to quit on day 25 or so, but since i made my goal of 30 days i am sticking with it, and i feel good about it. it's good knowing that i am able to go outside my comfort zone to achieve a goal. you'll feel good about it too, and when day 30 comes and goes, you'll be able to say, "my god, i did it!!!!" :D

still trying to force down those 6 cups of lemonade. ahh, it's noon and i still have yet to drink my first cup. it's weird, i actually rather water than the lemonade. but i only have today and tomorrow to go - only 12 more cups of lemonade!! oh and finally, my tongue is starting to show pink! well not a lot of pink, just a hint of pink.

it's amazing to me that i've come this far. my last cleanse i only made it 11 days, so i've gone quite the distance this time around.

to celebrate day 30, i'm going to my favorite hair salon to get a new haircut. whee!

Day 9 and it's actually just another day on the cleanse. Not too much energy, but easy to focus and get stuff done. I have an exam in accounting tonight and I'm gonna ace it. ;) I'm excited for the next few days because that's when I noticed mental clarity and loads of euphooric engery on my first cleanse. That's really what I want. Weight/inch loss is cool too and increased after 10 days for me as well.

I'm going to Vegas the week after I end my cleanse with my boyfriend and I've already planned out which restaurants in the hotel we're staying at serve salads, how I will order then, what green powders I'll bring with me, how I'll do breakfast with him - he eats SAD big time. It's going to be wonderful. I don't drink much so that won't be a problem. It's just going to be nice to be somewhere else. Like a lovely present to myself. Can't wait!

Day 26 and I am JAZZED about staying on the cleanse! Yahoo! Yeeeehah No, it's not because I'm having a euphoric, high energy day, or because I'm over my cold - which I'm still not, still have congestion, etc.
But today I got on the scale and I had dropped 1- 3/4 lbs. overnight. AND today a guy that I like, who was dating someone else, was hanging out and flirting with me - I think he broke up with that airhead (inevitable). So I'm thinking, Yes! let me stay on the cleanse for another week and lose more weight and keep my skin looking this good. Let me stay on the cleanse until he asks me out or I am "perfect," whichever comes first!

It's so funny, because I was Sooooo ready to end the cleanse. Almost quit last night, but forced myself to bed early with the coldies, telling myself "only 3 more days!" Now I'm all up and enthused and thinking about how much fun it would be to make veggie soup with him. LOL!! or minestrone...

How silly! But, you know, whatever works! Even if I never go out with him, I'll still be happier for having stayed on the cleanse. :D

I support you whole heartedly on the cleanse and hope your test is easy peasey lemon squeezy!

Vegas should be a blast - I went shortly after my last cleanse and did pretty well. I was really surprised though on how FEW vegetables and fruits were on the buffet at Harrahs! You would think with a massive buffet you would be guaranteed at least maybe four or five veggies, but not so. Best of luck with staying on track and making good choices. Have you been there before? We've been more times than I can count. We FINALLY went up in the Eifel tower at Paris - soooo much better than the stratosphere for picture taking :)

One last point though.... I regret to inform you that the correct phrase is "GO PACKERS!" :p

Why yes, I am WonderWoman - how did you know? Am I still wearing my cape?

I worked 15 hours on my feet today. On 6 LA's. (My very delightful bf made and brought me two more mid day when my shoot ran 3x longer than expected. :D) I rule. I do.

I am so exhausted though it was all my self control to keep myself out of bed when I got home. I decided I better come update since my last one yesterday was so bleak.

So. In theory I am done cleansing this time. I was shooting for 10, I wanted to do 10... but it just doesn't feel right. I have never done 10! I feel like I am cheating myself or...

Who knows. Tomorrow morning will be a SWF & orange juice or SWF & LA.

We'll see.

Be well everyone. Sorry I couldn't reply to more posts the last few nights.

I'm on day two...yay!! I've been taking it easy today since I have a pretty decent headache going on. Other than that, today's been pretty low key so far. Still tired but not nearly as bad as yesterday.

One huge obstacle is that I work during the night and so we always order delivery to the office. That's probably the hardest part of this cleanse....watching everyone else order food and eat right next to me. But, luckily for me, I got a healthy stubborn streak and I refuse to give in >_<

BTW, love this board and all the support I get from reading all y'all's posts. Thanks!!!

Day 11 I missed posting yesterday. I was kinda a moody and in a pissy one at that for some reason. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that it was a big elimination day that started in the middle of the night. Interrupted that deep sleep I was in. Anyway the eliminations were definitely mucos and glumps in many trips to the bathroom. My mood almost let me cheat last night but then I smacked myself. Thank God!

Today is a better day, typical elimination and better mood. Funny how each cleanse brings about different results. But I feel good and am down 13lbs. Diane was better yesterday but sore and stiff today. She is on track and also down 12lbs. I am ending my cleanse on Monday (day14) and she is going to continue on.

I watched a fantastic you tube on The Bitter Truth About Sugar. It is well worth your time to watch the entire thing as it is eye opening and will change your views about food in a good way. It's 1 hour and 30 minutes. The link is below here. just copy and paste if it doesn't open.

Day 27. Last night someone brought me a marzipan pastry from Schatz's bakery. Only my new found resolve kept me from giving in. I kept it around and got high off the smell all night- like edible perfume to me, so intoxicating. What a disastrous thing that would have been to break my cleanse on! Now it's safely tucked away in my freezer. This cleanse I have done very little food hoarding. I often will see foods that are on sale (not junk, just regular food that I can't eat), buy it and freeze it for later. At this point, I only have 3 things in my freezer for after the cleanse, and one of them was a gift (that pastry). I also usually go through my gourmet food magazines cutting out recipes to try "later" - this time, only 1 magazine in 26 days. Interesting. I have, however, gone over my soup recipes and have a list of about 10 soups to make, starting with the basic veggie....(asparagus and roasted red pepper! zuchini and mushroom! minestrone!) Still have this blasted cold hanging on...so I'm clearly not done detoxing yet. I sure hope today is the last day of it.:o

So. In theory I am done cleansing this time. I was shooting for 10, I wanted to do 10... but it just doesn't feel right. I have never done 10! I feel like I am cheating myself or...
Who knows. Tomorrow morning will be a SWF & orange juice or SWF & LA. Sorry to see you go so soon - it seems like you just got here! Congratulations on a successful cleanse. My goal is to get my body to a point where I only have to do 10 day cleanses, too.

The rash on my thighs have gone away for the most part, and the rash on my neck and face is not that noticeable, although my neck rash was itching terribly last night. I resisted the urge to scratch so that it had time to calm down. my face is still really dry.

i got my celebratory haircut this morning and i feel like a new person. i went into a store afterwards and man, any type of perfume/cologne makes my stomach turn - I never had a problem with fragrances before so i know it's the cleanse.

Well... I woke up so excited to be done with the cleanse. Drinking my SWF I was thinking "Last one for a few months!" I was planning on how much orange juice to
take with me today, planning the veggies to pick up for soup - BF asks me "Want me to make you some orange juice to take?" and I replied "No thank you, but
would you make me two LAs?"

Don't ask me why I decided to do another day. All morning I was so excited to be done - but when he offered the orange juice I just thought - not ready for that.

More than pretty sure I will stop tomorrow though. It will be a tough one as I am working about 21 hours in shoot time & travel - but I feel absolutely whole heartedly
right about stopping now, which I can't say for last night or this morning. I feel like this one extra day really made this whole cleanse worth it. I can't explain it,

-----

I've been reading about this natural liver cleanse. It involves 3 days of drinking only unfiltered, organic apple juice, followed by about a day and a half of epsom salt water + olive oil, graprefruit juice and/or lemon juice. The directions say to do a "parasite" cleanse immediately beforehand. I consider that DONE! It also says to stop the parasite cleanse the day before doing the liver cleanse. I had originally planned to give myself 7 - 10 days between the MC and the liver cleanse. Now I'm thinking that I should finish the MC, do oj day only, no soup, then move onto the 3 apple juice days. I know I couldn't handle apple juice right after the MC -- way too sweet!
Does anyone have any ideas on whether this might be a bad idea?
Right now I'm thinking that the two seem to dovetail nicely together.
The only real problem is that, since you have to time the liver cleanse for a day you're off work, that means that my MC can either go for 31, 37, or 38 days. No other choices. I think it might piss me off too much to be that close to 40 and not go "all the way." So I'm leaning toward 31 days.

Thoughts? Insights? Personal Experiences, anyone?

Thanks in advance.

Day 28. Darn! Forgot to weigh myself this morning before I drank my SWF. Oh, well, I'm so happy right now, I don't need to see the scale go down to keep me motivated. Did a 2 hr power vinyasa, hot yoga class last night. What a workout! What an awesome meditation!

I am doing everything the same as my other 2 cleanses, buy why this time, do I have hunger pain and knawing in my stomach? Every cleanse is different. Don't restrict the amount of lemonade. My guess is that if you go 1 - 2 days drinking as much lemonade as you want, without the ceiling of 8 glasses, that the hunger will go away and you'll detox much better. Listen to your body and trust that it knows what you need. By the way, Burroughs says drink 6 - 12 glasses per day (pg. 20, 1993 ed.)

Day #10, doing well physically, mentally I'm in the soup so to speak. The impending termination of an almost 10 year relationship has me emotionally destroyed. I am seeking to rebuild, this was ill timed as I am hypersensitive to an already unpleasent transition. I'm freakin, at 47, I really question my future happiness. I'm sorry you're in a rough place, emotionally, right now. You're doing the best thing you can for yourself, physically and mentally, with the cleanse. Reconstruction begins with sweeping up the mess. :o It is totally understandable that you're questioning whether you'll ever be happy again. Please remember that those feelings are being enhanced by the detox going on, and remember that we ALL question whether we'll ever feel happy/fulfilled/valued/worthwhile from time to time, even when we're IN a stable relationship, even when we're not on the cleanse. There is no easy way out of this. One thing I tend to repeat to myself is: "Pain hurts twice - once going in, and once going out." Let the pain out so you can move on. The mantra seems to fit with removing toxins on heavy detox days, too.

Day 26 and this one continues to be a breeze and enjoyable. Two more days. Was thinking I would go to 30 but that puts my exit day on my first day on site with customer and business trip, etc and would rather have Tuesday to do the first day transition. Wednesday will be easier for business meals if I can have some soup, etc. So 28 for this trip will work best. Still might be a struggle, want to be careful about not pushing things coming off. I know that it can be uncomfortable if you do.

Not particularly all excited about getting off, feel like I could go to 40 - but maybe next one. Lots of positives during this cleanse and felt really good through out after day 5 or so in that all the classic detox symptoms had passed at that point. Surprised how easy it was coming of the Holiday season and all that good food drink, etc.

Really feeling re-energized and excited about continuing a reasonable diet/exercise plan now that enables continued weight loss. Weight loss on this cleanse cycle was a pleasant surprise/benefit in how regular and consistent it was. From the scale this morning, I've lost about 22 lbs.

Really surprised at the number of people on the board right now who are doing extended cleanse - Lahontani - looks like your 30 will be wrapping up soon too.

Good luck and thoughts out to those coming to close and those who may be working through there detox days, hang in there - it's worth it!

Today is my 14th day, and I can see that it is probably going to be my last day on the lemonade portion of the master cleanse. I should be just about through my current supply of lemons and Grade B maple syrup by the end of today. Good timing. I am feeling pretty good, and my tongue is now more pink than white.
I have stocked up on OJ and I will have tangerine juice from tangerines right off of the tree. They are pretty tart because we had to pick them before the hard frost hit earlier this month. OJ by itself is just a bit too sweet for my personal taste. Oj with TJ should make for a good mix. I also have my vegetable broth at the ready.
Last year, I was very good about using the MC as a reset for my eating habits. I cut out coffee and soda and took my caffeine intake way, way, back. Just a cup of Yerba Mate in the morning and no afternoon "pick-me-ups. I also gave up land meat. That was no great challenge since we have such a diverse selection of delicious fish and seafood here by the ocean.
This year I plan to maintain these habits, and also try to cut way back on my sugar intake. I have always consumed too many sweets, and it was getting way out of hand toward the end of the year. My goal is to reset that, too. It sounds easy now, with absolutely no interest in sweets here on day 14. The challenge will be putting it into continual practice.

Point being, it isn't how long or how often you do the master cleanse. Yes, those things are great. However, the key to any successful master cleanse lies in the third step. 1.) Master cleanse 2.) Ease off slowly 3.) Third, and most important, use your master cleanse as the reset to start to a better diet.
My best wishes to all who are doing the cleanse. Keep up the good work. It's worth it.

Day 29. I feel like I could go on for maybe a week, but now my body is telling me otherwise. I have a new criterion for when to quit the cleanse: when your abdomen makes noises ALL day long. For the last 2 days now, I constantly have whistling, wheezing, groaning, gurgling noises coming from my digestive tract. NO hunger or hunger cramps, just noises - embarrassing noises. Actually these started on Wednesday, but I think only about 3 occasions on Wednesday. Now, it's more like 15 - 20 times per day. I'm planning on going to day 31. Only 3 more days of SWF! Whee!

Another funny thing, is that yesterday was the first day I had pure maple syrup. I'd been using either agave or my Trader Joe's cane juice blend up to day 28. Maple syrup had just gotten too expensive, plus it was my least favorite taste of the sweetener choices. But then they had Coombs brand at Grocery Outlet (a discount grocery store out here) for 3.99, so I bought one bottle. Boy, does that taste good!!! I was so amazed at how good the maple syrup tasted after being so long without it - and I don't even like maple flavor that much!

At this point I have lost 27-3/4 lbs. in the past 28 days! I am so thrilled with those results! Even if I don't lose anything in my last 3 days, I will still be more than content. I do plan to go straight from oj to organic unfiltered apple juice for the 4 day liver cleanse. Not looking forward to it, because I have never cared much for apple juice. But maybe it will be like the maple syrup, and I'll be surprised to find I like it after all. I'm a little scared about the liver cleanse - it's supposed to be "intense" and "extreme." But that's what everyone says about the Master Cleanse, too. I was scared to try the MC the first time, too. So I suppose I should just keep that in mind and jump right in.
By the time I get to the epsom salt part of the liver cleanse, I will have had 35 days of fruit juice fasting: 31 on MC lemonade, 1 on oj, and 3 on apple juice.

Through meditation the truth of the method was revealed whan I posed the question, "when sholu I start" In fact I'm planning to break on the new moon, eat sensitively until the full moon and then go another two weeks, rather than going a marathon all at once. We shall see.

That's an interesting concept I might join you on Syn. I wanted to do a short cleanse to regroup from where I was early December, and start another one soon
after, so maybe I will start on the next full moon. I've always been incredibly sensitive to the full moon, so this is really something I am interested in trying. Thank you!

As for your second post, I absolutely loved what Lahontani said to you, and I am not even going to try and top it. It was perfect. I will say I hope the painful time is
as short as can be and healing happens quickly & effectively so you can move to a better place emotionally. Sending positive energy your way lemon friend.

Day 28. Darn! Forgot to weigh myself this morning before I drank my SWF. Oh, well, I'm so happy right now, I don't need to see the scale go down to keep me motivated. Did a 2 hr power vinyasa, hot yoga class last night. What a workout! What an awesome meditation!

You have always been awesome, but I feel like you've become extra awesome in the last year. You should send me a private message so we can catch up. I feel like
you have changed in a beautiful amazing way! I want to know what is going on in your world! I loved what you said to Syn, and I love how active you seem to be now -
I'm just so excited to see you doing so well! And your weightloss this time? Jeebus lady congrats!!

You know, I feel so absolutely wonderful about my cleanse now. I can almost say I hated every day of it till the end (which has never happened before) but
the 11th day just... I don't know. Fixed it! I have no negative feelings about it, at all. I feel like I really did good for my body, even in the short time frame.

I am going to start again very soon. Yes I know I should wait 3 months, but the way I look at it - it will just be another 40 day cleanse with a few week break in between. :)

I lost 10 pounds in 10 days (perfectly okay with that) and I've lost another 3.5 since I finished (stoked about that!)

I worked 15 hours on Thursday - 19 hours yesterday (including 9 solid hours that I never sat down) and all with no caffeine. Before I cleansed I was drinking so
much coffee I was drowning in it, and even occasionally (gasp) soda just to make it through an 8 or 9 hour shoot. I needed this detox to prove I DONT need
caffeine, even when my brain is trying to tell me I do. I was a smoker for a long time in my past, and I swear coffee is more addictive for me. But, I am free for
now and feel great about it.

I love this board and the support I get from it. Even just posting feels good to express how I am doing, feeling. Supporting others supports me. Relating to
others in the same situation. The whole package. It's just good, good, good.

Yes, I am emotionally high today, you could tell?

Be well friends. I'll check back tomorrow.

Day 27 - Last Day

Deciding to make this my last day. Gives me more time so that I will be on exit day 3 when I hit the business meetings on Wednesday (traveling Tuesday night). That will let me have a salad during the conference/meeting. Feeling great, would like to perhaps have gone to 40 days, but my original plan was do 10 and see how it goes. So did pretty well. Body feels good, feeling good mentally. Really feeling like stopping now and moving to to post cleanse this week and then to diet plan and exercise for the next month will be great.

BIGLU Congrats on the 30D!
Lahontani Good luck on getting to your 31, I've had those same noises last couple days. I think I remember this when I was on my 40 and that they subsided after a few days.

Have some soups ready for Tues/Wed. Will take some with me to keep in the hotel room this week as ell.

Day #11 very easy and smooth, walking around in the grocery store was indeed an interesting experience, I was really eyeballin the freshly squeezed OJ! I endured, tomorrow comes quickly............ Oh, me too! They have some really great fresh asparagus on sale right now and I couldn't help fondling it...and going back over to it....couldn't peel myself away from the fresh herb section either - thinking of which ones I'm going to put in my soup!

Day 27 - Last Day
Lahontani Good luck on getting to your 31, I've had those same noises last couple days. I think I remember this when I was on my 40 and that they subsided after a few days. Congratulations to you on your successful cleanse and on being able to expand it beyond your original expectations! Thanks for the good wishes. I really feel I'm home free now and the next two days should not be a problem (other than co-workers hearing my stomach growl and either thinking I farted or lecturing me on quitting the cleanse).

I needed this detox to prove I DONT need caffeine, even when my brain is trying to tell me I do. I was a smoker for a long time in my past, and I swear coffee is more addictive for me. But, I am free for now and feel great about it.

You should send me a private message so we can catch up... And your weightloss this time? Jeebus lady congrats!!! Yeah, I'm really pleased about the weight loss, too. But I have to confess that a lot of it was very recently put on (Thanksgiving through New Year's). So about 20 lbs. came off pretty quickly and easily. Now I'm back to my summer weight and that feels good - hopefully I can lose a little more, too.

You, know, I DID send you a private message - the day after you came back on the BB - I guess you didn't get it. I wonder if the PM system isn't working right? Or maybe it just got lost. Go look for it and let me know - if it's gone I'll send it again (or a new one).

Re: caffeine. I KNOW I don't need it - but curse those flavored coffees! I just can't resist them. I also love the social aspect of going to our local coffee houses with friends. Then I get addicted again. I have had some success with an herbal coffee substitute called Teeccino. It really tastes great - not like most coffee substitutes. But it has no caffeine, so at first I just couldn't stick with it, with no "drugs" to motivate me. Before the last 2 cleanses, I got to the point where I'd make coffee at home with half Teeccino and half regular coffee. Then I'd be motivated to make coffee house cups with half decaf and half regular, otherwise I'd get too gittery. It seems to be working. After this cleanse (and my liver cleanse), I'm going to try for 3/4 Teeccino and 1/4 regular coffee.
My local grocery store has 2 flavors. Whole Foods has about 5. The company has about 10 flavors, and you can order them on line. My favorites are the Amaretto and the Chocolate "Maya" (chocolate and chilis, like in the movie "Chocolat")
