DAY 4!
Good morning everyone! I am so glad to know that I'm not the only person scouring recipe websites and planning my first normal meal for the end of next week! :D Aside from the fact that I have bitten the bullet and turned on the heater in my office - can't help it! I'm so cold! - I'm doing pretty dang well today. I'm craving chips and salsa but generally speaking I'm always craving chips and salsa whether I'm cleansing or not, so that's a feeling that I'm used to. ALSO has anyone else developed an edward cullen-like sense of smell? This always happens on the MC for me. For those of you who are not twilight dorks - I like the books, not the movies! I'm so ashamed... :o - edward cullen can smell like it's nobodys business. I can smell the soup that the little cafe on the first floor of my office building is heating up for today...and I work on the second floor. Yikes.
Anyway, happy cleansing everyone!!

Day 21 has gone a little sour for me . . . my lemon juice (fresh squeezed this morning to bring to work) is HORRIBLE. I think something was wrong with one, which tainted the whole mixture. I feel so ill, and now, have only consumed one and half drinks (I thought at first that I was just being overly sensitive or something so I kept drinking!) Ugh, gross.
If I get hungry, I'll just have to sip a little bit of the maple syrup or something :( Bad day.

Megan you can do it. You are already more than half way down.
Does anyone knows, if I can substitute SWF with tea in the morning?
I have the hardiest time drinking SWF even with a straw.

Im actually thinking that next cleanse I will do laxative tea at night and in the morning (as well as SWF) because I find that the laxative tea actually gets more gunk out.
Im on Day 9 and drinking an extra laxatve tea at 5:30pm. I want the gunk out!
Great job everyone!!!!!! Keep it up!

Hi
I am ready to start my 4th Master Cleanse tomorrow. On the first master cleanse (10 days) I did really well and lost 5 kg (12lb I think), the second one I had the odd orange at night and did 9 days and only lost about half the weight. The last cleanse I did I stuck to it apart from replacing the SWF tea in the morning. I really believe the the salt flush was far more effective and I got a quicker result and lost more weight. But oh I do have a hard time getting it down. I am going to try and persevere with the SWF. Has anyone else noticed the fact that have the tea in the morning is less effective or is it my imagination.

Happy Day 22! It's amazing what 8 hours of sleep can do to your attitude. I've come too far to quit now! I'm looking forward to a better day today.
Thanks to everyone for the support - I'm glad I kept going.
Fredzilla - I don't even do the SWF, just 2 (sometimes 1 if I don't need it) teas a day - I can't even imagine what BOTH would be like!
Vicki08 - Good luck cleansing!

Day 5!
If anyone would like to know how to bring on a detox day like you've never seen, follow these simple instructions. 1) Forget to put cayenne in your batch of lemonade that you bring to work 2) Overcompensate when you get home from work by chugging about a half a cup of lemonade mixed with a heaping teaspoon of cayenne 3) Wait to be crabbier than you have ever been in your whole life the next day. Yep, that's what I did on Tuesday and I was pissed at the whoooooole world yesterday. I feel a little sheepish around my coworkers today because I know I was a huge b**** to them yesterday :o
And it's interesting that you guys are talking about skipping the SWF in the morning and going with the tea instead because this morning I completely slept through my early SWF alarm so I had a cup of tea. I've never done that before so this could be interesting. I have to say though, aside from the taste, I like doing the SWF because I feel so much better afterwords. It makes me feel more cleared out than I do with the lax tea.
Have a LOVELY day lemonheads! 8)

WOW. So my vote is definitely no on the AM lax tea. I'd rather have all my poo-ing done before 7 am. Afternoon bathroom runs at work aren't very fun. :p

Thank you FRED! And if you are planning to jump back into solid foods for your birthday I recommend starting slooooow to make sure your stomach can take it. A sprint to the bathroom mid-meal could put a damper on things ;)

Wow, if I didn't know better from previous cleanses, I would soooo have given up this time around! This time has been rough the WHOLE TIME!!!! Day 8 I did the SWF as always, it worked as normal, but then late afternoon I was feeling awful and all of a sudden had an urgent need to run to the bathroom for an elimination and it burnt sooo bad!!! I've had like 3 or 4 hot toxic exits on this cleanse! But needing to "go" in the afternoon has never happened before! Day 9 was more headaches, achy, lower back pain, extremely tired, etc. Today, day 10, is more of the same. This morning was a little crazy with the kids and I had things to do, so instead of the SWF I figured I would try the tea since I've heard some people do that if they can't tolerate the SWF... I will NEVER do that again!!! This afternoon found me curled in a ball with such severe cramping I felt like I was gonna die!!! And the chills & shaking was insane!!! It was awful!!! I always drink the smooth move tea in the evenings before bed and don't have that reaction so I'm not sure why it affected me like that this afternoon!!! Wow!!! From now on, I'm going back to the morning SWF no matter what!!! This evening I'm just relaxing. I don't really get hungry on my cleanses, I guess the lemonades & water fill me up enough, and I always continue cooking for my family while on cleanses and it doesn't bother me, bbq pork chops, chicken quesaidillas, etc, it smells great, and I enjoy it, but have no temptation to eat it.... but tonight as I sit here typing this, my youngest is sitting beside me munching on doritoes and I swear nothing has ever smelt so delicious! LOL And I'm not even a big fan of doritoes! ;) LOL This cleanse has not gone well at all (or it has gone great depending on how you look at it because I am definitely detoxing!) so I don't think it would be a good idea for me to quit yet even though it is day 10. And my tongue is nowhere near pink! gross!!! So I'm going to keep on pushing through... Hope everyone else is having a good evening!

Hi Everyone,
Day 10 for me and this is my last day for this cleanse. Feel good, look good and overall great experience of MC. Will be back to board in 2 weeks hopefully for 15 days. Still have some extra lbs that need to go. So far only 7lbs lost.
Enjoy your cleanse!

Day 6!
FIRST of all congrats to everyone who's hit day 10. That is awesome!
And Megan at 21 days?!! DAAAAANG I would have probably killed someone if I went that long :)
Anyway, more of the same today. I did my SWF this morning, thank god my alarm went off today because the tea does not work for me in the morning. Like Tigger, it made me cramp all afternoon yesterday. I almost left work. I also had an elaborate food dream last night - I was making tuna salad with onions and peppers and then I put it on toasted bread with some spinach and started eating...and then I woke up freaking out because I was worried that I had blown it all and eaten. Oh master cleanse, why do you mess with my head.
Have a fabulous day everyone!

Good morning all,
Best of luck with your cleanses! You CAN DO IT! I know everyone was so motivating during my cleanse, it truly has been a pleasure. I lost 20 pounds in 21 days, dropped a dress size and a half, and will BE BACK for another round! This kicks off an ambitous healthy eating and weight loss goal of 60 pounds, so I'm already a third of my way there.
Happy cleansing,
Megan

Good morning Fellow Lemonheads!
Day one of 10 for me. Feeling great. This is about my 6th ever MC and the best one yet, because I have finally kicked the coffee habit. So relieved that I don't have to endure the sick headache that usually comes with the MC. I didn't even cry this morning before the SWF. In the past it has made me feel very sorry for myself. I just drank it, and got on with life. I love the way I feel during the MC. Much less crabby. Better sleep. I can even cook for my family, no problem.
Have any of you seen the movie Forks Over Knives? Wow. Saw it in July and it has really helped me eat right.
Well, just wanted to check in. My immediate family is very supportive, but extended family thinks this is nuts! Oh well. I need to get over that.
I'm going to go drink water! Sometimes I forget to get that in!
Later!

Day 13
Still hanging in here! Starting to feel better. Yesterday & today haven't been feeling bad so that's a nice change! Still don't have that awesome energy and great feeling, but not feeling headachy and sick is wonderful!!! I'm feeling a little depressed, tired, and blah. Just want to munch on something... ANYTHING... No real craving, just want to bite into something... boredom maybe?? I made my family biscuits and gravy for dinner last night. When I woke up this morning, I could still smell it, wanted to eat some soooo bad!!! I'm not sure how long I'm going for this time. At least 20 days. I will see how I'm feeling then. My tongue is pretty gross still so we'll see how it goes... Hope everyone else is having a good day!

Day One
I'm just starting this, and I'm equally excited as anxious. I'm just about to turn eighteen and I have a pretty horrible immune system, and I just didn't want to go into adulthood being sick and miserable all the time - and of course the weight loss sounds pretty good, too! It was pretty difficult to get my mother to agree to this; she's a nurse so she's a little wary of stuff like this. But I told her that if it genuinely made me sick, I would stop.
I'm currently drinking my first glass of lemonade, and even though I'm proud of myself for doing so, I am NOT happy with it. :( I can't handle spiciness at all - even mild salsas give me headaches, so this is pretty miserable. Just out of curiosity, can you lower the amount of cayenne pepper you use and still have it be successful? I went into this thinking I'd be drinking twelve glasses a day because I'd be so hungry all the time, but I'm halfway through this first serving and thinking that I'll be finding it difficult to even meet the six-cup daily minimum.
Does anyone have any advice? I've been plugging my nose these last few sips which totally takes away the bite, but when I unplug it my throat is suddenly on fire, which you can probably imagine is not the most pleasant sensation. ;)
I've got a weight loss goal of about twenty pounds, though of course not all of it has to be shed during this diet. Thinking I'll do it this time around for ten days, just to ease myself in, and then in a few months try the fourteen.

Hi Master Cleansers
I am on day 4. Day 2 was the rotten one for me but on the brighter side of things now.
A message to Raven, my little grand-daughter aged 3 had a sip of my lemonade and said "Oh Nana, that is a little spicy". Maybe you can stand it more with age. What I do is only mix in the pepper at the last moment and it doesn't taste so spicy.
I have definitely proved it to myself - the SWF in the morning is so much better than replacing with the lax tea. All over and done with in under an hour. Another tip I read on the forum was to have the SWF with warm water - so much easier to get it down.
Anyway, happy cleansing everyone.

DAY...9!!!!
Good morning all! It's day 9 and tomorrows day 10 and then that's it for me!! I thought about going to 14 but y'know what? I'm not gonna. 10 day cleanses always do the trick for me, 14 day cleanses I am miserable after day 11. Not worth it, I'd like to end on a high note! :D
Anyway, I'm feeling good so far today. I felt awesome on Saturday, my day 7, which I was thinking would be a detox day but it wasn't. Had tons of energy and cleaned out my spare bedroom that had been piled up with junk for months. Yesterday I was a little achey, but my mood was ok - aside from the vikings loss  not a smart move to watch a consistently disappointing team on a detox day, even a mild detox day.
I'm going to the store tonight to get my OJ and soup supplies and I am EXCITED! I'm on a super strict budget until payday this friday so I have to see how much money I have to work with after I buy my cleanse stuff, otherwise I wouldn't usually torture myself with a grocery store run on a cleansing day.
Have a LOVELY day everyone, happy cleansing!

Hey Raven! Something that you might try, which will give you a headache but the rest of your lemonades won't be spicy, is mixing all of your daily cayenne pepper (a little over half a teaspoon?) into about a half a cup of lemonade, chugging that, and then immediately drinking a glass of lemonade with no cayenne. That way you get your cayenne and you can still get at least 6 lemonades in per day. That's something I've done on days that I forget to put cayenne into my daily batch of lemonade. :)

Hi Raven
IMHO You should follow the yellow MC book as close as possible. Modifications or tricks can get you some very uncomfortable results. VERY! Start with a smaller amount of cayenne and then work your way up over days. My mom still cannot tolerate much, but she still takes a token amount. I'm on my 6th MC and I keep adding more and it is a healing thing. I think it's very valuable. Congratulations on taking this step!! On getting sick, you might get sick and these are detox symptoms. I usually gag and throw up some the first few days of the SWF, but having tried the am tea, I know the SWF works the best for me. I think the throwing up, headache, crappy feeling is detox. For sure. In the past the SWF has made me feel very depressed before drinking it, knowing that I was going to throw up, almost crying. But pulling myself together and slamming it down is a big accomplishment and gives good results.
I just wanted to write, so you might press on even if you get "sick". Take baths, lay in bed, sleep. Rest as much as you can. Some people talk about feeling great and energized, but usually this means they are experienced veteran MC'ers who can shrug off the crappy detox symptoms. I really think new people need to pamper themselves.
Anyone else agree on this?
Day 4 for me. Down 5 lbs so far. Happy about that. Not very hungry this time. First two days I had the bad headache in the pm, even though I was not detoxing from caffeine. This was a big surprise. I thought I wouldn't get the headache. I just went to bed super-early both nights, to accomodate this. Supper with the disapproving relatives last night went great!!! BIG shock. They didn't say a word when I said no thank you as the food was passed. I guess they're getting used to this after 6x on MC over the years. Hallelujah!!! I did pray on the way over. God is good.

Hello,
I am starting the cleanse. I have had a few false starts recently and figured I probably have a lot to gain from a forum such as this. So thanks for being here. :)
I did the cleanse for 14 days in 2003 and felt so good afterward. I thought for sure it would be a breeze to do it again. But my roommate and I were in it together back then - now I am living with my fiance and he loves his junk food!
I am eating up the last bit of veggies (steamed/raw) and fruit in the house today. Tomorrow I'll start the lemonade, I already have my supplies.
My one Q is this: Is it cheating if I use Miralax instead of the tea or the SWF?
My system is resistant to the tea, drank water w 2 bags last night and nothing. And in the past the SWF did not work in the recomended ratio. But when I added more salt, the solution just came back up (about as fast as it went down.)
Thanks!

Day 14
Not feeling the energy that's for sure. It's raining out today which seems to match my mood. Woke up with a headache but that disappeared after the SWF. Thankful for that! Trying to convince my self that I need to keep going. My tongue is still very disgusting. No sign of pink! I'm not sure if I'm just depressed or if it's a detox symptom. Just such a bummer this time. My last cleanses I had more energy than normal and felt great. I was looking forward to that, but it's just not happening. As far as weight loss goes I seem to have quit losing weight a few days ago. Still only down the 8 pounds. I'm following the directions & no cheating, but my weight is just not budging anymore. SWF in morning, at least 6 lemon/maple syrup/ cayenne drinks a day, lots of water, finished with the smooth move tea at night. My husband says that this is just the weight my body is comfortable with, but I could stand to lose at least 20 pounds, so not sure what is going on with that.... Hard to keep pushing on when I just haven't felt good and feel like I'm not getting the results, but I'm still trying...

Day 1, and I woke up with a screaming headache. I did the tea last night and had to go this morning even before the SWF! I did it, though, and felt really great for a couple of hours, but the headache came back. I've been drinking lemonade and water all day, but nothing has helped! I feel a little lightheaded, too.
I've done one other cleanse a couple of years ago and didn't really have the symptoms other people talk about. I'm not a soda or coffee drinker, and I normally eat pretty well (no dairy or meat, although fish on occasion) so I have no idea why I feel so badly!
This is really discouraging. I know I need to stick with it, but I'm afraid I'm going to be too weak for my run tomorrow morning, and not exercising is even more depressing.
If the symptoms get worse on days 2 and 3, I don't know that I will make it! Any tips for those having a really, really rough day 1?

Day Two
Ugh. My mother is passively proving just how much she wants me to quit this by bringing home all of my favorite goods and encouraging me to "just eat a little!" Thanks for the support, Mom! -_-
Vicki - haha, I let my sister try some, too! She also said it was a little spicy. The weird thing is that when I was younger I LOVED spicy foods, and a drink like this would've been absolutely nothing; now I have to hold back a gag every time a take a sip just because I'm dreading the heat so much!
BaileysMama - Thank for the advice! Unfortunately, though, it diiiidn't quite work out, haha. I threw it back up. My body is determined to not consume this stupid pepper.
Coasting - I know. :( I've been trying my best to follow the instructions, but honestly, if I keep going this way I think my willpower is going to break! I would rather be slightly less healed than not healed at all, and if need be I'm willing to cleanse longer to compensate.
Today hasn't been a very good one. Yesterday I was only able to force myself to drink three glasses of the lemonade, and even then it was through tears and gags. For the last glass, I finally gave in and only put half the dose of cayenne in, but even then it was a severe struggle. When I woke up this morning, I was feeling a little weak but not hungry at all, which was a relief, but unfortunately it got worse as the day went on. My sister came home from school crying and of course that dampened my mood, too, and when the hunger set in that was even worse. I drank another glass of the lemonade with half a serving of cayenne, and when I went to drink a second one about two and a half hours later, I just couldn't do it - the taste, the smell, it was all making me horribly ill. Even though I know it's not as efficient and might set me back, I went ahead and ordered the capsules to put the cayenne into; I'll go an extra week at this if need be, but I just CANNOT get the spicy form of the lemonade down my throat! I can't live on 1-3 cups of it a day. The capsules will be arriving in 2-3 days, so until then I'm only going to put the cayenne in every other glass, and once they get here I'll compensate by taking 4/3 - 5/3 the daily dose in capsule form for several days.
Furiousrose - I know what you mean; I've been struggling with an on and off headache, too, and my day one was pretty brutal! Unfortunately, days two and three are supposedly the worst (I can certainly attest for day two!), but you can do it. (: I went to sleep several hours earlier than usual yesterday and that might help; your body needs extra rest to compensate for the energy it thinks it should be getting but isn't. You should also ask your fiance to stick to just one single room to eat his junk food in (or at least name two or three rooms that he CAN'T eat it in) so that you have parts of the house that you can be in without being tempted. I've been avoiding the kitchen and living room because my mother has set all different kinds of delicious foods out to tempt me into quitting, and my sister is usually in the living room eating them. Good luck!

Day 15
Woke up with a major headache, sore throat that is so raw it hurts when I swallow, my right ear is so clogged up and hurts to the touch, and my nose is stuffy... Yuck! My weight has still not budged in the last 5 days. Still only down 8 pounds. Getting ready to chug down my SWF. Wish I had something more pleasant report. I know I'm doing something good for my body, but my body is soooo not being good to me! :(

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY 10!
Good morning all! It is my day 10 today and I am super duper excited. I am so glad that I only have one final SWF, this morning it almost came right back up.
Raven - I'm sorry to hear that you threw it back up. I would work up to as much cayenne as you can tolerate, even though you still might be miserable :( I definitely would not omit it though. Have you checked out the cayenne pepper thread on the main master cleanse board? It's got some cool info about it. I hope you start to feel better. OH and about your mom putting food under your nose, I've had to deal with that too. If you stick to your guns she'll stop. :)
Furiousrose - That sounds like day 1 detox. STICK WITH IT! You will have days that you feel awful and days that you feel great. And as far as exercising, listen to your body. I've done MC's where I don't move a muscle unless I have to. And I've done MC's, like the one I'm on now, where I've had tons of energy, worked out everyday and cleaned my house top to bottom a few times. It all depends.
Have a FANTABULOUS day everyone! :) Can anyone tell I'm excited to be on day 10? :p

TiggerBaby, I am so impressed that you are still in it! I got discouraged last time when I did not lose weight and threw in the towel. I knew it was stupid, but I couldn't get my head straight...too much focus on the scale. I would think if you are not losing and not gaining, your body may be regulated with water loss - so hopefully the lost lbs are real weight loss! And every day you keep on going is another day you know you did not give up. For myself, I am tired of not meeting my own goals. Not to sound too cheesy but it just isn't good for my soul. At this point in my life I could use a little self-success.
Today is my Day 1. I'm really trying to focus on the health benies and the general strength of character any fast fosters - rather than actual weight loss. But I am not gonna lie, I wanna get out of my "fat pants".
So far so good, only a little hungry. Of course I am hoping for one of those super energetic cleanses but I am not going to count on it. I am prepared to do very little if I need to. (This is the only blessing of unemployment I have found so far.)

Day Three
Had an awful time sleeping last night. Woke up today with NO energy, I just laid in bed for two hours and didn't even want to get up to get my lemonade. Finally did so and was a little weak and shaky, but drinking it made me feel better (the first time this has happened since I started, usually it makes me feel worse!).
Went into the bathroom and was surprised to find my tongue coated; momentarily forgot that this is a detox symptom and wondered what it was, so I tried to wipe it off. When I realized what it was, I couldn't decide if I should be excited that I've started detoxing or annoyed 'cause it's kind of gross; still haven't come to a good conclusion on that.
I made my tea too strong (my innards are obnoxiously sensitive, apparently -_-) so I'm cramping up a storm and no matter how much water I drink, it won't go away. Ugh. And I miss potatoes.
Went on a ten-minute tirade to my cat about how lucky he is he gets fed the same food every day and doesn't know what he's missing - he was cruelly unsympathetic. I'm not nearly as hungry today as I have been the past days, so that's a plus, and the clothes I ordered are coming in so that's something to look forward to. x_o

Went on a ten-minute tirade to my cat about how lucky he is he gets fed the same food every day and doesn't know what he's missing - he was cruelly unsympathetic. I'm not nearly as hungry today as I have been the past days, so that's a plus, and the clothes I ordered are coming in so that's something to look forward to. x_o
Haha I go through that every MC with my dogs. They just have no respect for the fact that they get to eat and we don't! :p

Day 16
Thanks SV :) And good luck to you on your cleanse! You can do it!!! :)
Ok, last night was the strangest night ever on the master cleanse!!! So I wasn't feeling good all day yesterday, but I kept up with my 6 lemonades and plenty of water to try to flush whatever this is out. I drank my smooth move tea at 10pm right before I went to bed. I didn't sleep at all last night. My legs were aching so bad I thought I'd rather just cut them off! Also, my head hurt, my throat is raw, and my nose was too stuffy. Couldn't take nyquil obviously so it kept me up all night. But then around midnight my stomach was churning and I had to "go"!!!??? I can't believe there was still anything in me after 15 days of no food! I was in the bathroom for about 30 minutes with awful cramps and my elimination was HOT and TOXIC... but after that I went and layed back down and realized my legs no longer were hurting!?! Weird... Then around 3am, my stomach was churning and I had to "go" again!! Not burning this time... but this has never happened before! Then around 6am, yep, I had to "go" again!!! I don't understand what in the world was going on, but better out than in!!! WOW!! :o Around 8am I drank my SWF, but unfortanately I couldn't hold it down and ended up violently throwing it all back up :( So now I am sipping on the smooth move tea which I absolutely HATE taking in the morning because last time it gave me horrible cramps all day (even though I only soak the tea bag for 1 minute) Very strange night. I feel like I have to be cleaned out by now for sure! Hope everyone else is doing better! Hang in there fellow cleansers, you can do this!!! It's not easy, but it is worth it!!

Day Four
Today is better than yesterday, no doubt about it; yesterday went out with a toxic bang! MAN, that was unpleasant. Today's been much better, though I skipped the second glass of tea this morning to give myself a break after last night. I'm also just a little confused - I thought hunger was supposed to abate after day three (and yesterday I was barely hungry at all, which seemed to support that theory), but today I was almost as hungry as I was on day two! In the beginning, I wasn't, but pretty soon my stomach started rumbling - probably had something to do with the Chinese food my mother brought home. -_- In any case, today hasn't been excruciating, and even though I was tempted more by dinner today than I have been yet, I reminded myself that I'm almost a third of the way done - stopping now would be a shame after all I've been through so far! And so I will trek on, foodless and miserable but on my way to being healthy. x_x

Day 2 (really 2.5)
Read some really good supportive things about fasting so my resolve has strengthened. And now that I have a day under my belt, I actually have something to lose if I fall off the wagon- another good resolution booster. A post on a different bog read something like, "Didn't lose any more weight yet, but that's ok, I'm going to let my body do what it needs to do." Ahh, when I read that I realized this is what I am trying to do too, even though my obsession with the scale kicks back in every time I think about little events I have to get to in the upcoming weeks.
My tongue started to get creepy last night, I wonder what it is exactly that causes the white coating. Anyone kow how long the coating lasts? 2-3-4 days?

I'm on day 2 (1/2 through the day now). My energy seems much lower today than yesterday. I did ease in 2 days ago with only fruit and veggie juiced fresh. I do enjoy the lemonade and need to go have another glass. The swf was so hard yesterday that I only got 1/2 of it down. Today I got 3/4 down but added about 1/8 teaspoon of bouillon to it along with warming the water. I figured it was better to do that than to get it down and throw it all back up. I'm hoping tomorrow I'll be able to swallow it all. I have a bit of a headache and feel a little foggy but probably just need some more lemonade!

Good morning! TOday is my Day 1 of my 3rd MC. THe first one was a 10-day success, second was only 8 days but still a success. I'm hoping to make it to 10 days again this time. I gave my book to my Aunt so I had to guess at the receipe. I make a whole gallon for the day and I used 1 3/4 cup of syrup, 8 lemons (they were very small) and lots of Cayenne! I love cayenne and have been drinking it in my water for years so I'm sorry for those that can't tolerate it. I did the SWF this morning after having my smooth move last night and nothing came out! I took it at 5:00am, did some yoga (hard to do with the much in your stomach), then around 8 I went to the bathroom but nothing like what it should be...I didnt't ease it so maybe I just have too much still in me for the tea and SWF to get to! Oh well, I'm not gonna worry about it, I'll drink my drink and my water and let nature take its course. I do have somewhat of a headache but I've had one all week (menstrual) so I'm not too concerned yet. Anyway wish me luck.

I'm on day 4. I almost quit last night, but then I remembered how much money I spent on lemons and maple syrup and I resisted the urge to buy out Taco Bell. I have to say, even though I'm PMSing, have a nasty cold, and I'm irritable as all hell, my body has never felt better. The severe pain in my knee is gone, the ear ache that I had the first 2 days of the cleanse is gone and I'm not HUNGRY. Really the only thing that kills me is feeding my son and catching wafts of deliciousness. -sigh- Almost there. ALMOST THERE.

Day 3!!!! My husband says "what day are you on now?" and I said 3 and he said "you mean we have 7 more days of this???" It was pretty funny. I then told him I'll still need 3 or 4 days after to ease out. hahaha. Anyway, I was craving a montecristo sandwich yesterday and chocolate last night but stayed strong. Does anyone know if you can add a mint tea bag to the salt water flush to make it go down easier? I'm really struggling with the swf and need something to help it.

You're not supposed to add anything but maybe more salt if you can handle it. What I do is pretend I'm drinking a broth and take a BIIIIG gulp of it at once, then wash it down with water.

Day 39 and 30lbs lost
Back after 2 tortorous days of travelling non stop to pick up our new home an older motorhome...so I had to make do with what I could as far as the MC was concerned. Took off while it was still dark in the morning so no Smooth Move tea the night before nor SWF that morning. Drank from alternative bottles of Lemonade mix and a water bottle for the trip with only no cayenne for the drinks due to the heat getting hotter for standing in the bottle all day. Lots of P&P, petrol (you call it gas here) and pee stops on the way. No smooth move tea that night either and no sleep as we parked at a big rig 18 wheeler stop and they were coming and going all night. The next day was the same as the first. Arrived home had my to tub and hot tea and slept like a baby. None the worse for the change today....except the best result for ages. NOW WHERE DID THAT COME FROM I ASK YOU?

Oh No!..........please dont do that if you expect good results (it effects the whole intestine in the pure form and is better for you if you dont use capsules)...........start off with a little sprinkle of cayenne and gradually increase it as you can. The whole idea is to ingest it and smaller amounts are better than large ones/capsules. If it helps support you dont worry as I still have lots of trouble with the cayenne. DONT LET IT STAND IN THE LEMONADE AS IT GETS SOOOOOOOOOO HOT.....MIX AND DRINK IMMEDIATELY. Good luck with the chuggin it down...grins!

Good Day All. I'm new so I guess I can't post a new thread, but I can Reply so...
Started the MC oh some 2 weeks ago... I think today is Day 14, if I'm counting correctly. I have a concert coming up this weekend and my concert dress was a tad snug so I decided I would do it for three weeks til concert time... 10/08... to lose some weight. Well, I don't have a scale so have NO idea how much I've lost but it's quite a bit... and my concert dress is now a tad too loose. Just can't win :) I'm guessing I've lost about 20 lbs.. at least. I was around 250 at my last doctor's visit last year some time and had gained some weight since then. I was recovering from a total hip replacement following two hip surgeries last summer (2010) so was very inactive and gained just waaaaay too much. A lot was NEW weight from last year so sliding right off, I suppose.
But WAIT! This is supposed to be a "Cleansing" program. So yes... lemme talk about that. I'm cleansing alright and feel pretty good... skin clear... mucous eliminating... no asthmas wheezies... and I'm on my cycle and it's been a breeze! BUT, I was doing this primarily to lose weight and jumpstart my way into a healthier lifestyle, so I can keep up with my ever exuberant 9 year old who was a late in life blessing... unexpected though he may have been. Got LOTS of Advanced Maternal Age warnings when I was pregnant. You get the idea... I'm old... he's young... but I refuse to let him out run me :) Well, can't run anymore with this fake hip but you get the idea... I won't let him out swim me then. Of course now with all this weight, he runs circles around me. But that will change soon.
Speaking of Healthier Lifestyle... I have done Fit for Life in the past and LOVED it and how I felt while I was doing it so that's my plan for my after cleanse.
First goal accomplished... the dress fits! Next goal is to hit 21 days. But really, my ultimate short term goal is to do 40 days which at this point seem to be quite doable. My Ultimate long term goal is to walk a marathon when I'm 50. To do that... I have to be healthy. Long story... Been there..done that.. (ran it)... broke my hip and it's been downhill since then. I'm not a scale person generally speaking so go with how my clothes fit and I am two sizes down in the two weeks and loving it. Feel great.
Oh...No SWF for me. I have been doing the Smooth Move Night and AM. Survived a bus trip this past weekend and a buffet of all my favorite African foods!! It should be smooth sailing from now on.
Time to go get my munchkin from school. Will be back!

day 11 (did 4day liv/gallbladder starting 9/19 and THEN started MC on 23rd). feeling great. averaging 6-8 drinks a day. not much hunger right now. YEA! walking an hr a day. doing tea 2x day with SWF 2-3x wk. did this for 28 days 2yrs ago and loved it. last time i don't remember doing the SWF or SM every day but then again i strained the lemon juice so i was just getting juice with no pulp. i had interned at a sanitarium about 10 years ago and i use ocean water from pet smart. my friend who has a health sanitarium researched it out...it's from Catalina and is filtered. 5 gallon bag in box for about $12. recipe for 1 quart- 1/3 ocean water,1/3 room temp distilled water, and on top/last 1/3 boiling distilled water. this combo makes it just the right temp and easy to drink down quickly. this time i was only hesitant to do the SWF but i find i like it much more than the SM be the SM tends to make me nauseous soooo if i have the time i do the SWF otherwise i seep the SM, let it cool and down it like a shot
since i did it for 29days working FT, i'm going for 50days bc my son is getting married in 40 (i'm on day 11) and then i'm flying to NY to meet my hubby...yea! happy cleansing folks....stick with it bc it's worth it!!;)

This is my day 2 on MC. Day 1 was extremely painful for me. Migraine headache all day to the point of bedridden all day. I was only able to drink 16 oz. of the SWF. I prepared myself mentally before starting and really thought people were exagerating when they said they had difficulty drinking the SWF. Low and behold I ended up being one who had difficulty with the gag reflex. I bought the organic grey celtic and used 2 tsp. per 32oz. as instructed...but just couldn't get more than half down yesterday.
Then this morning 1st sip and felt like hurling so I drank a cup of the Yogi Get Regular. I'll try each morning to see if SWF will become more tolerable. I suspect because my diet the last two months has been very SAD and i imbibed on a lot of junk prior knowing I was going to fast for at least 10 days.
One Normal BM on Day 1 and nothing so far this morning. I was so ill from migraine yesterday that all I was able to consume were 2 - 8oz. glasses of the lemonade and one cup of peppermint tea to try and settle my stomach. Then my laxative tea before bed. Today I'll shoot for at least 4-6 glasses.
Still have migraine this morning but not as intense as yesterday. I did break down and take Excederine this morning because I have to work. Thank God I work from home. I'm not giving up that's for sure. My gut tells me this cleanse is exactly what I need.
Sunday night I drank my laxative tea and this morning I am 7 pounds lighter....so something is working. And honestly I'm not hungry. Off to start my 1st lemonade. Can't wait to feel euphoria Genniyah is speaking about....

Hi All
This is my first post on the Master Cleanse Forum and I would really appreciate anyone's advice. I am on my first Master Cleanse, now on day 43. I am doing it because of chronic health problems, namely just feeling really tired all the time and just generally feeling awful. I don't have a life because of my symptoms and I will do anything to get well. I am 35 and have felt like this for about 15 years. Prior to The Master Cleanse I had 12 sessions of colonic irrigation due to chronic problems in that area.
I have lost a stone (14 pounds) in weight when I didn't need to (I am 5' 4" and now weigh 106 pounds). I am scared as I feel really weak and don't want to lose any more weight, although I am prepared to stay on the master cleanse for 100 days if necessary. Anyone else have this experience, i.e. not seeing results until way past day 40? I am following the master cleanse to the letter and have Stanley Burroughs book - the only thing I can't do is the salt water flush as I have low aldosterone and already have to eat 5 tsp salt a day, so I am taking a tbsp Epsom Salts every morning instead, as well as 2 cups laxative tea a day.
Any advice gratefully appreciated!!

Jade, why are you prepared to stay on for 100 days? if you're feeling weak then you should probably end it. If you're tired all the time, there is actually a diagnosis for that. ITs chronic fatique symdrom - have you heard of that? If you're dropping too much weight then there might be underlying problems and the cleanse may not be the right thing to do and with the drop in your weight it may be the reason that you're tired? IDK but see a Dr and ask if the cleanse is ok for you to do.

I thought this was a 40-day max cleanse. Maybe it is time to stop, Jade. Give yourself a break. If you don't do the SWF then you probably aren't excreting enough toxins, and when they build up in you - then you feel awful in one way or another. You can stop the fast and go vegan or raw foodist for a while and maintain the alkalinity of your system. If you still feel bad, you can try the cleanse again after a few months have passed.
To everyone else having problems with the SWF - try dropping the salt to 1+1/2 teaspoons to 32 ounces hot water. That's what I do. It tastes like a salty Campbells' soup and works just fine for me.
I'm on day 11, feeling great, and drinking limeade.

well it just seemed like i was throwing away so much of the lemon AND i was single, employed and making good $ last MC but this time i'm unemployed, on unemployment for the 1st time in my life and $ is tight. i may just have to buck up and put out the $. also i'm on day 12 and 16 days without food but my wt has stayed the same for 3 days...not good. maybe the pulp and SM in combo are what's making me feel nauseous. or maybe bc i use 2 much cayenne bc i love it, although i do drink water before i drink so to ease the landing in my stomach  otherwise my energy level has been great which is VERY COOL.

Lately I've been putting the cayenne in a small glass and adding about an ounce of the LA - and loving it. Then I drink the LA plain which I prefer.
Your weight will probably go down soon. I had no weight loss for two days then woke up to find out I'd lost two pounds. There are just too many variables. One day you may wake up less dehydrated than the day before and it looks like you didn't lose weight when really, you did.
Anyhow, happy fasting! How long do you expect to continue? I have about 20 more days free but I might not last that long though I feel fine right now. Ideally I'd like to fast until my tongue turns pink again.

Day 3 still can't stomach the SWF doing the tea night and morning. Does anyone else have experience with just using the tea? I hope the results are similar. Woke up so nauseous I just could not put the SWF to my lips. Yogi Get Regular tea is soothing to my tummy, but no real urgency BM's. Hopefully, it will kick in soon. Oddly enough I'm not hungry....I look forward to the lemonades too. My goal is 3 before noon and 3 after noon.....and a peppermint tea and Get regular night cap.
Day 2-I got 6 of my lemonades in and the migraine settled down a little but remained all day. Actually got dressed and went out for a peppermint tea while husband had coffee. 2 BM's. Tongue is whiter than white....kinda gross.

Only been able to do 6 glasses lemonade each day the past 3 days and my swf this morning, only got 1 swallow down so did a tea instead. Weighed myself yesterday and had lost 7 lbs so far so that made me excited. I'm also wondering if I'll get the same results doing tea rather than swf.

I'm wondering the same thing....maybe when I wake up without a headache or nausea I'll try the SWF again. But for time bieing it's tea for me.

Morning all -
Today is Day 6! I gave in yesterday at work! There was pizza and I pinched off a piece of the cheese! I felt rather guilty after that so I'm not doing that again! I'm worried about Friday as I'm meeting friends at a Restaurant/Bar after work! ugh! Maybe I'll sneak in some Peppermint Tea and have that while they drink.

Hi Everyone!
I am back on cleanse again. Today is my first day. Last time was my first MC and I loved it. Felt great after horrible first 2 days, had a lot of energy for the rest of cleanse and weight results were great. I did it for 10 days, now I want to try for 25 days maybe even more (we'll see).
From prior cleanse I find out that SW had much better effect that tea in the morning. And that is when my weight started to drop faster and skin looked better. Even though I can't stand SW, I will continue to do it.
Happy cleansing everyone!

I am on day four of my cleanse and I'm feeling great now. I have lost 7.5 pounds so far. I am excited for the following days to see how much weight I loose all together. I am leaving for a trip to Cozumel and wanted to get some weight off before I left, well I think I am well on my way. Thanks Master Cleanse!!:D

[QUOTE=Genniyah;91 Your weight will probably go down soon.
Ideally I'd like to fast until my tongue turns pink again.[/QUOTE]
day 14 of MC...what day are you on?? last 2 days i haven't been hungry, only drank 6 drinks today. i had alot of running around to do but have a lunchbag that holds all my ingredients easily :)
i would love to do 50 days if possible....my hubby was supposed to lv the 2nd and is still here and i prepare his dinner and lunch to take for work. it's been easier than i thought, when he leaves NO PROBLEM. i have already bought 40 days more worth of maple syrup and have about 60 lemons. so far so good. my tongue hasn't really been white yet though:rolleyes:

Hi Jen...
I'm on day 13 and don't think I'll go on much longer. I originally considered a thirty-day cleanse because that's how much time I had before my brother's wedding, but at this point I think shorter than that would do. I'm not in any hurry to quit right now and feel just fine. I'll take it one day at a time... see what happens! I wish you the best of luck with a longer fast. I'm sure it will be easier without having to cook for someone else!
I just watched Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead - great movie (on Netflix) about 2 men on juice fasts who lost a lot of weight. It is inspirational and at the end I cried because I was so happy for them.

Day 9 is in the bag!!!!! Today I had a craving for a big grilled cheese sandwich, healthy, I know :)
Anyway, I was contemplating going 14 days but think 10 will suffice.
Only one more day of this lemonade...hallelujah!

Hello all,
It's been 5 years since I did my first master cleanse and I'm now on Day 11 of my second cleanse. I'm planning on going for 20 days again like I did the first time, but I'm noticing a few different things from before. This time, I always seem to get stomach pain after drinking peppermint tea. I had only half a cup and it's just an awful feeling. I've decided to stop, but I'm wondering why this would happen. Also, I notice that I have some tooth sensitivity near my gum line of my left front top tooth. Does anyone know if this is just a temporary issue during the cleanse? Other than that, I've been feeling great. Losing inches and just feeling so much better. Last night was the first night I actually had a dream where I was eating food and I wasn't supposed to. After 10 days, that's pretty good! I'm going to start incorporating walks in the evenings starting this weekend for the duration of the cleanse to get things moving even more quickly.
If anyone has any thoughts on any of this, that would be great. Good luck to all!

Day 15 lost 19 lbs (goofed yesterday and posted day 15, sorry:eek:) went walking for about 40 minutes and the rain ran me of but didn't even have a drink til 12:30 and headed to town with drinks in tow ;)
anyhow...wanted to comment on your teeth sensitivity. it's from the lemon juice. i try to rinse my mouth with water after each drink and brush with sensitive toothpaste, without flouride of course. also a friend told me about brushing my teeth with cayenne (hey it's already in my drinks, right?!?) so i have and it helps promote circulation and seems to help with the sensitiveness. hope that helps. like your signature!! 8)

Hi Everyone, Day 2 here! Yay! I had some logging in issues yesterday, so I couldn't say "Hi" on my first day. I was at my wits ends 3 days ago. After being on a low-carb diet for nearly 3 months & loosing 0, zip, nadda. The same program I had lost 60 pounds on 2 years before. (I gained 45 back)
I was wandering around Youtube, when I stumbled onto Peter's & other MC videos. I felt a little spark of hope. It has been many years since I had been on MC, but I knew the quick weight loss & the cleansing of my system, would be just the boost I needed to get me back on my weight loss track. I have been pondering converting to a mostly Raw/Vegan Diet (I like Peter's style!) And MC would really to set the stage!
I went to my Kitchen & found I had all the items I needed to get started, even the Grade B Maple Syrup. I thought I would wait 5 days till Monday, Mondays are always good days to start things. Just my way of putting it off! And I thought, how about tomorrow? So I did & that was yesterday. I cleaned out my fridge, made up my 1st. batch of lemonade for the next day & here we are day 2 & I feel great!
Start weight is 200, my goal weight 150. Days I plan to MC... as many as I feel good doing! I'm thinkin BIG!
I appreciate so much this Forum & the sharing you members are doing of your journey's with MC & the Youtube videos, that are fun, intertaining & supportive!

Hello everyone.
This is my first time doing MC. I'm on day 4 and plan on making the 10 days. I want to be healthy! I have fasted in the past for spiritual reasons. This time, it is a combination of a much needed detox and transitioning to healthier eating. The side effect of weight loss certainly won't hurt since I have many pounds to lose, however, I won't be getting on a scale for a few days. I feel pretty good and have energy. The cravings come and go but have not been overwhelming. I am happy to have found this site. Wish me well! :)dd

Hi Jen and everyone else here!
I'm now on day 15 and going strong. Lots of energy. I feel like taking a walk today.
So far I've lost only ten pounds... kind of disappointing that it has been so slow, and the last four days I've been on a plateau... went up a few pounds then down again to where I was before. Grrr... I like the scale for a motivator. When it motivates!
During the last few days I had thoughts of ending the fast soon but today I feel just fine again. I'm going to have to take it one day at a time. I'd like to get to twenty days... but no promises on that! When I started I thought I might be able to do thirty days but honestly I'm not so keen on that anymore! Time will tell how much longer this goes on. The most important thing is taking care of my health and detoxing adequately.
Hugs and good wishes for all on the master cleanse today!

Day 3 & feeling very groovy! It's been years since I have done the MC & this time around is easy! Last night I had so much energy, I went 15 times around my circular driveway, pumping my arms & getting a really good work out. I have been low carbing for 3 months prior, with no movement on the scale & no desire to exercise. So just 3 days in & I am feeling very enthusiastic about how I feel! Looking forward to a vegan/raw diet afterwards. But for now, just taking it a day at a time, not pushing myself to exercise, but hey if my body is calling me to do so, then I'm going for it! I'm off to buy a pedometer! Yay for me & for all of you! Appreciating so much this Forum to check in with! Thank you for being here! :)

Hi Gen it's Jen lol :D Day 16 slept in with my hubby til 11. feeling fabulous except i have a raging candida owwww! haven't had in yrs. so doing yeast cleanse caps and coconut oil for relief and cure. we are getting the 1st good rain in months and i'm hoping to go on a long walk when it's done...love walking after the rain8) its 1:40 and haven't had a drink yet bc i'm trying to get the caps to work good 1st. wondering if i'm not drinking enough drinks and that's why not much wt is coming off...just not very thirsty/hungry. ??? well Gen hope you'll stay on here even after your done with the MC...although my hubby said he'd support me he's on the other couch munching bbq chips that turkey lol. anyhow...hoping i'll not want that junk after the MC bc i didn't eat that stuff for years and years b4 we met and i fell off the wagon since we married in jan 10. i was actually vegan except raw honey for about 14 yrs with only a few like ice cream slips hehe. but since married have eaten meat and dairy ugh! i personally would like to go back to vegan and even back to sprouting and raw. when he came and met me (we met online on christian site) i had grown 3 kinds of sprouts, homemade hummus, greens with homemade garlic tahini (making myself hungry). he said he wanted to eat healthier BUT....i may just have to do it on my own bc NOTHING tastes better than HEALTH FEELS...bottom line. right Gen?!?!?!? so being you're vegan it would be great if you'd like to keep in touch! hugs and good wishes to you also!! :o and happy walking.... also what's the difference between "post quick reply" and "go advanced"???

LemonHeadGirl! ... so cool that you're inspired to get exercise! I have tapered off my exercise program since I've been fasting and now I miss it.
Jen, I will be here a while. I honestly don't see much difference with Go Advanced except that there's more room to write in.
Today I've been busy - writing about Vegan Chile Rellenos (Gluten Free) (http://www.squidoo.com/vegan-chili-rellenos) and cleaning the closet in my bedroom. Lots more to do there, but good to get all the boxes out of it. For some reason I collected a lot of empty boxes there. I'm one of those people who has a hard time throwing things away. Terrible! But I'm decluttering my house while I'm decluttering my body. Now I just have to find a home for everything and put everything in its place.
Fasting is going well today. I've got a slight rash on my hand. I had eczema for years and finally got it to clear up, and now it is erupting just a little. I think it is part of the detox. As fat cells release their toxins these old conditions surface again . . . but this time it isn't itching too badly. I had it on my leg a few days ago and it has already gone away again.
Good luck getting the candida cleared up. How does it manifest? I'm sure I have candida too... but an outbreak? I don't know if I've ever had one. Once when I took too much apple cider vinegar I broke out in a very itchy case of hives for two days, presumably because I killed off too much candida in one day. It happened one other time when I took too much colloidal silver.
I hope you're able to get back into your vegan diet. I know how it is when you're with a man and his eating habits include meat and everything else. I've been knocked off my diet a few times because of that too. Gotta be strong and do what's right for us! We can do it!

Thanks Genniyah! I did another 15 laps yesterday. And was up early raking the yard for several hours today on day 4. I Love marking my calender with a new BIG number every morning. My energy is off the charts for me & my enthusiasm to clean my yard & be outside with lots of fresh air is wonderful! It's really looking nice & the raking is great exercise! I am going through every nook & cranny of my house & getting rid of excess stuff & cleaning. I am feeling very invigorated as my insides & outsides are reflecting each other. Feeling very excited/happy about starting walking again. I can hardly believe that I am looking forward to walking again later today! I find a hot bath every night, very rewarding while I drink my Chocolate Tea. Making the very best of each aspect of the MC, makes it as easy & enjoyable as MC can be for me! Yay! :)

I'm ready to start the cleane tomorrow, Monday the10th. I went to Whole Foods to buy the lemons, and found out that they don't have ANY organic lemons. They said there's a shortage in the area and it will be a few weeks before they get any in! :( Is it ok to do the cleanse using conventional lemons making sure I just use the juice and no other part of the lemon? Regarding organic lemons...I use the following rule of thumb. If I eat the skin I buy organic 8) Go to www.foodnews.org for your Shopper's Guide to Pesticides. This site identifies the dirty dozen (buy organic) and the clean 15 (lowest in pesticides)
Enjoy your cleanse...this is the end of Day 4 for me, yea!!!!

Hello Everyone!
Day 6 and doing great! Had major headache last night, but I think I was just dehydrated. We went to a festival and I didn't drink much water or mix all day. Otherwise, I am full of energy, which is amazing. At first I was afraid I will not have enough strength or energy to do anything on MC, but it is actually opposite. I would recommend it to anyone. For some odd reason, all my friends are against MC because you can consume any food and they are afraid it might have negative consequences later on.
I already lost 5.5lbs - very excited. Very soon I will reach my pre baby weight. Yeah!!!
Have a great day everyone!!!

I'm wondering the same thing....maybe when I wake up without a headache or nausea I'll try the SWF again. But for time bieing it's tea for me.
I'm on Day 20 something (don't really keep track of that OR of weight loss in lbs) and I've ONLY done the tea night and morning. Not sure if results are the "same" perse, but there definitely ARE results. I feel GREAT. I look GREAT! I poop great... LOL. And I'm sure I've lost at least 20 lbs... probably more... but won't know for sure since I don't do the scale. Have gone done 2 full dress sizes and the mirror shows definite progress. So yes, you CAN have results with just the tea. I get eliminations (if you know what I mean) several times a day as well so everything looks like it's going according to plan. Just can stomach that SWF and schedule does not really permit the hour needed to stay put.
Good luck. Going for 40 days at least, or until my tongue gets pink, so will have to check to see which day I'm on. I remember when I started (09/19) so that puts me at 20 something, right?
So I have a question". I'm salivating an awful lot! Is that normal? I find myself spitting all the time (sorry if TMI) and doing the "slurf" thing... mucous in my nose/sinus area. Anybody have any insight on that? I know the mucous is part of the elimination process, and after 3 hip surgeries last year and lots of added poundage, I know I have a LOT to eliminate, but what's with the extra salivating and spitting stuff? A tad inconveninient, having to spit all the time :( Thanks for the info

sorry John, no stevia. You could put a tiny bit of maple into the tea, but as you continue on the cleanse you most likely won't need it as your tastebuds reset :)

Hi there everyone! It's been awhile, but I am back. Day one. Not sure how long I am going for, but I think at least 20 days this time around. I'm feeling great, the swf this morning worked like a charm and my lemonade is delicious! I even have a cleanse buddy in town :)
It's going to be a bit different for me this time. My last couple times, I told my husband that he was on his own for food, but now I have a beautiful daughter, so I am going to have to cook for the two of them. I remember my first cleanse it was hell to be around fresh cooked veggies as our garden was winding down for the season. I think that I am going to be in the same boat again, but now I will have to be working with food on a daily basis. yikes :)

Hi all you groovy Lemon Heads! I didn't check in yesterday day 5 but it went great & here & am at day 6. Five days ago I had plans to start yesterday (Monday) but decided to start the very next day, and just go for it & not give it much thought. And I am so very glad I did, now I'm on day 6, yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! I have an abundance of energy, I started walking in the evenings on the second day & doing several hours of raking, weeding in the yard each day. Getting loads of exercise & the yard is looking great. I find cleaning my house, organizing & getting rid of clutter is just something I am naturally drawn to right now. Doing a clean sweep of my life, both inside & out. I have not seen a large or even a small movement on the scale, but I am not letting that bother me, I am just pushing through. Is it ok to sweeten the evening tea with a little bit of stevia?
No it is not okay to add ANYTHING to the cleanse.
Water, Lemons, Maple syrup and Cayenne Pepper... That is it..nothing more..It is so worth it

Yayyyyyyy for all of us!
That is awesome.. keep it up!

I think that I am going to be in the same boat again, but now I will have to be working with food on a daily basis. yikes :)
MayaBlue:
It will just show you and your family and friends the WILL POWER that you have to be around the food and not to have any! And it will show them the determination you have to become a healthy person, for you, your husband and your beautiful daughter :o

Good Evening to all of you!
I have a question to people who are practicing raw food lifestyle. Do you have as much energy consuming raw food as on MC?
Really considering changing to raw food lifestyle, if you have any recommendation or tips, please share!
Thanks in advance!
Keep up a great job everyone!
Start with Harvey Diamond's Fruit till Noon... and fruit for a snack. etc and ease your way into 100% Raw Food...I am just fruit till noon and 99% of the time it is fruit or veggies.. Get his book or read it at the library(I did) Fit for life NOT Fat for Life. I don't know much about the raw recipes etc. good luck! 8)

Day 5 starting strong!!
Yesterday was tough, I understand day 4 and 8 are tough ones...I felt sick yesterday, all in my lymph nodes in my neck, like a sore throat, and body aches, headache....but today I woke up feeling good. SWF down, even that yesterday was tough...almost lost it, but today, went down no problem and feeling almost normal! I have had a peppermint tea only a couple of times...it sure helps when you just feel like "why am I still doing this"...and you get to have a little treat!
Mayablue: I hear you! I have a hubby, a 15 year old and a 10 year old...none of whom are doing the MC of course, and none of whom cook for themselves really...so I do the cooking still...it's tough, but I keep telling myself "I know what that tastes like, so I can wait" and that usually works. So far, the smell of bread has been KILLING me this time around! 4th time through, you'd think I would know what to expect...but it's been a little different this time around.
Anyway, happy squeezing everyone!!

Jen - I think that if you are only thirsty for the minimum servings, just go with it. The most important thing is that you are not hungry. Your body will do the rest. Once you break your fast and are ready to start eating real food again, just make sure that you are having small meals every couple hours to keep your metabolism going and make sure that you are getting a balanced diet. Small meals every two hours will keep your body processing well and be sure to not eat withing a few hours of sleeping....
I'll be seeing you around on here, I am on day two of at least 20 :) Good luck :)

Was going to finish my MC today but couldnt find any nice oranges or red grapefruit or any grapefruit that wasnt old, mushy or going off in the shops yesterday....sigh!
So bought another weeks supply of lemons and limes ....thank goodness the lemons are really nice at the moment. Cant wait to get down to Florida and some decent fruit.
Very tired from moving house, no energy and would rather rest with a good book right now. Why is it that men think you can lift the same amount of weight as them, move as fast as them and move everything like a body builder buddy...grrrrrrrrrrr. I am so upset at these expectations and angry at my lack of strength. Not sure if it is the detox but I am so groucy right now?

Day 8,
Lost 6.8lbs.
Miss food, but look so good that it outweighs! Still have 12lbs to loose to get into pre-pragnancy cloths. Hopefully by day 20 I will loose 6lbs more pounds, which will make me happy anyway.
Christene, we are waiting to get approved for a mortgage loan now, so I can't even image moving and being on MC. Specially the way I use restroom every 5 minuted. I am glad my MC will be over by that time.
Keep up a good work everyone!
Happy MC!

Middle of Day 3 for me... I was having a bit of a stressful morning. My newly potty trained 2 year old was running wild, getting into EVERYTHING, and she kept peeing her pants, which we haven't had issues with for more than 3 weeks now. Grr. This is so far the hardest MC I have done yet. Previously, I worked a full time job (at a grocery store, no less) and didn't have to cook at all... That was pre-pregnancy... Now I have to cook meals, chase after my 2 year old, and don't really have anything else keeping my mind busy (like a job). This is going to be rough...

hi mayablue-thanks for the response. i know almost everybody incl diabetic doctors, general doctors and dr. oz promote eating every couple hrs but they did a study several yrs ago involving nurses. they fed one meals at regular intervals-bkft, lunch and dinner...the other bkft, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack. they took xrays throughout the day. the 3 meal a day went fine but the eating every couple hrs??? well if the previous food was not digested when more food was eaten than it just sat undigested!!:( so at the end of the day all the meals and snacks were partially digested therefore setting the stage for digestion problems, diverticulitus, (sp??) etc. i know that the lest complex the diet is, the less time to digest...such as raw, mainly raw, general dinner vs a buffet-which is asking for extended digestion. soooo i'll let exercise, temperance, and cayenne boost my metabolism lol. 8)

One thing that those drs doing the study probably didn't mention... They are testing a lot of random people that probably already have digestive problems. Of course, if you eat every couple of hours and you already have a poor and slow digestive tract, you are going to be piling food on top of food. If everyone would just clean themselves out with a mc once in a while! ;) I think it also depends a lot on how quickly you can reset your metabolism so that it starts working for you again. :)

This is my third cleanse. The first lasted 13 days, 2nd 10 and this time I was on day 11 but had to stop. I have a fitness test next week and for some reason, this time I feel weak and light headed when I stand or walk up stairs. This cleanse has been different than the first 2 in that I couldn't drink enough of the juice. I felt too full of fluids and if I drank more than 6, I felt the liquid coming back up. Has anyone else had this? I've also lost a lot of hair but that's probably because I didn't get enough Calcium between cleanses.

Good morning Shawk...I see that you are new. How long did you wait between cleanses? Four times a year is the recommendation. It sound like your symptoms are more than detox symptoms. I have never heard of hair loss. I would recommend waiting 90 to 120 days before you attempt another MC. Your body composition can be a contributing factor, ie, body fat ratio. The less body fat you have the more maple syrup you will need. If you haven't used the MC resource of posts offered by this site, I urge you to access the link in my signature line to the MC library. Feel free in contacting me off-line if you believe the information you need to provide is too personal.

Hi Everyone!
I'm on day 5. I feel like it's been a struggle to not give up and I'm really worried I won't be able to make it through the weekend. Too much temptation. How does everyone get through it?
I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.

I'm on day 5 also. My first three days were full of cravings and I was getting annoyed really easily. Things have gotten easier in the last two days. I haven't had too much trouble cooking meals for my family, however I did make something really good smelling last night that I am going to make again when I am done. Yesterday I soaked in the tub with a book while my daughter was napping and it really improved my mood.
Some advice for Flint: are you drinking enough lemonade at regular intervals throughout the day? Are you taking it with you when you leave the house? The last few mc I have done, I worked a full time job, now I am a stay at home mom. It's definitely hard to be in the house all day and it did take me a few days to adjust to not eating this time since I didn't have work to distract me and keep me out of the kitchen. Journaling really helps. Also, if I am around someone else that is eating, I like to smell the food while I am drinking my lemonade and imagine it is something else. ;) If you feel that something will be too tempting, you can either resolve to stay strong, or just stay away from it. Make a list of the things that you are around that you want to eat at the time, you can look back on it when you are done and maybe you won't want it any longer :) Try to stay busy or start a project over the weekend where you will be working with your hands. You could also go for a walk with your lemonade... somewhere where there isn't food readily available.
I like to tell myself that once I start a cleanse, I need to see it all the way through. I have put it in my head that if I don't break my fast properly I will get really sick.

Mayablue, thanks for the tips. I was surprised when my husband was getting ready to eat dinner how strong I was. I really enjoyed smelling his food. For some reason everyday after 3pm is when I get my cravings. Do the cravings ever go away?
Jessina, thanks for the follow up. I'm still hanging in. Today is Day 6. After day 5 I was down 9 pounds which is definitely helpful. I can't decided to stop at 10 days or go for 20? There are so many social events coming up that I would love to eat at, but at the same time none of it will be healthy and probably shouldn't.
Also, has anyone experienced heartburn with the lemonade?
mayablue
October 15th, 2011, 10:08 PM
Day 6 for me too. I am lagging on drinking my lemonade today, so I am a little hungry right now, but I have another three servings left to drink! I have been busy with my hands today. Made a couple pairs of feather earrings and a crocheted newsboy hat. It would have been helpful to have my lemonade in one of those drink hats with a straw today. ;) Then I had a big shopping outing with my family and I didn't take enough lemonade with me then either. Oops. At least I had a little with me. I am also debating whether or not to go a full 20 days. That was my original plan, but I am also considering starting another cleanse sometime in January - probably towards the end of the month.
Flint, I think the cravings do go away. I had awful cravings for the first three days this time, but on the forth, they seemed to be gone. I had a weird craving yesterday - for a specific flavor, but when I stopped to think about what it was, I forgot. Also, I haven't heard too much about heartburn, you might try to search it within the master cleanse board. It's very possible that it could be a detox symptom, as most symptoms that come up are due to detox.

Hi Lovely Lemon Heads :) Thanks Jan, I'm not taking a break, just pushing through. By the way I'm 51.Today's day 11 & I'm feeling great! Other than a few mild tummy cramps in early a.m. (tea is working from night before) and a few daily hunger pangs (not strong enough to give into) this MC, my first in 9-10 years has been easy.
Previous to 11 days ago I had been on my faithful (always worked in the past) low-carb diet for 3 months, with not 1 pound lost. I was at my wits end. I really needed to see some movement on the scale, to get my Mojo back about getting the weight off. 11 days into the MC & I am down 8 pounds & that I am very pleased with. I am also very happy that all my thoughts mostly, lean towards starting a Vegan/Raw way of eating once that first stage after the MC is completed.
It's my first attempt at that, but its kinda how my life has been headed this last year. I started about 8 months ago using all natural products on my skin & hair & for cleaning & laundry. And using more & more organic food products. . No artificial sweetners, only use Stevia now. So it only seems natural & in my flow, that I should do a body cleanse & make changes in what I'm digesting.
There are so many wonderful "Raw Food" recipe Youtube videos, not to mention MC ones as well. For some reason seeing food doesn't bother me, I have started to spend some of my free time collecting recipes for breakfasts, lunches, dinners & snack/desserts, if you have any idea's, good books or links, bring um on! I treated myself to a electric citrus juicer yesterday for under $20 at Wal-mart, as my 10 day gift to myself. It took me 1/2 the Limes to make 1/2 cup of juice, so I know it will be a $ saver in the future. I also picked up a $200 juicer like new, used twice for $10 at the swap meet yesterday just perfect for my plans after the MC.
Also I have started exercising again, since day 2, because my energy is through the roof! Walking a fast mile 1/2 with arm weight at night. Feels wonderful to be active again. Working with some stretchy bands in the house & I found a 3 cd beginner dvd Yoga set yesterday, seems like a great time to begin that! Also spending Several hours in the yard each day weeding & raking, yard is looking wonderful & I am feeling great! And I am so appreciating this forum, such great support for all of us! :)

Hello from UK. I am on my ease-in day 3 & feeling prepared for the next 10 days or so. I am already suffering headaches, terrible hip/leg ache & nose is running like a tap but all that just tells me something is working so cool.
Have taken a week off work as this is my 1st cleanse so was not too sure what to expect so will be on here with questions or just updates with how I am doing. :)
Jaine
welcome aboard jaine!!! ;) you're are right...your symptoms are in line with cleansing. if you drank caffeine..usually there are headaches too:( just hang in there, it was a great idea to take the week off too. this will certainly help you know how your body works on the MC and also gives you time to get organized, enabling you to get a "system" and when the bursts of energy come...have fun, deep clean, work outdoors 8) keep us updated!
day 24. 24 lb wt loss-on a plateau  just finished the SWF which i like better than the SM but i have to schedule more time for the toilet lol still loving the lemonade though and always have which is why i don't seem to have a problem with staying on long term. i had heard a few ppl say they liked the lemonade hot and i was freezing last night and about to go to an outdoor concert with my hubby. i drank it, didn't like it so much but it warmed me up along with cayenne in my socks which kept my toes warm all night :p cold toes and/or circulation problems??? cayenne in the socks works great!!! HAPPY CLEANSING!:o

I already posted this on the cheating thread but here it goes again!
Hi Everyone!
My first time posting on any forums but I felt compelled to share my story and ask you guys for your support on this joruney. So I did the Master cleanse starting from 9/22/11 for 16 days straight, absolutely no cheating...I was so proud of myself and my intention was to go for 30 days. Then I had to go to fancy medical school dinner with my professors and mentors, so I ate a small salad and fruit at the event. I felt so guilty and ashamed and it led to vicious cycle where I COMPLETELY fell of the cleanse. I had very bad examination experience and if any of you are in medical school, you might be able to relate to how terrible your Boards can make you feel. The stress of the whole thing led me to spiral out of control with my eating. I ate horribly for 9 days straight. I'm not going to even list what I ate, suffice it to say, it was horrendous and I gained all the weight I lost and felt even worse than I did before the cleanse. I am restarting the cleanse with a whole new appreciation of my weakness and shortcomings, and the emotional triggers that can jeopardize the cleansing process for me. I have never used a support column before, but I am hoping that this one can help me stay focused on what I need to do. I want to be healthier and embark on a cleaner lifestyle where I will not use food as a crutch anymore. I believe the cleanse will help me get there and set me up for a lifelong healthier eating. So, my fellow cleansers...are ya with me? :-) Today is Day 1: LET THE CLEANSING BEGIN!

For some reason seeing food doesn't bother me, I have started to spend some of my free time collecting recipes for breakfasts, lunches, dinners & snack/desserts, if you have any idea's, good books or links, bring um on! go girl!!! thanks for your imput as well. you are sooo fortunate that your husband is on board with you (wish mine was *sniff* *sniff* lol) anyhow...congrats on your awesome buy on your juicer too! and you talk about energy?!?!? mine was great today too...had the house open and deep cleaning yea8)

Thank you LemonHeadGirl! I appreciate the support! I will definitely be checking in more often. Surprisingly today as Day 1 was harder than my original Day 1...perhaps I have eaten too much junk that my system is on guard more. Nevertheless, I will not quit till I reach my goal of 13 days! My fiance is taking me on a surprise trip at the end of the month and I will end then. Hopefully, I'll be able to ease myself out slowly and on the right path. I wish you the best of luck and thanks for rooting for me!

Hi Jen... How far are you from your goal weight and is it a comfortable weight for you to hold? The master cleanse will put you at your ideal weight, which means if you need to gain, you will. Also, I have heard, for weight loss, to stick to 6 servings and reduce the amount of maple in your drink. For instance, when I mix my lemonade, I mix all six servings in the morning and I use 6 oz of fresh squeezed lemon juice, and 5 oz of maple. I add the cayenne to each drink as I pour it. I go heavy on the cayenne, because it increases the detox. :)
I'm just starting day 8 here. So far, it feels like it will be a doozy. :( I just, finally, rolled out of bed. My face feels puffy and I am pretty darn tired! We'll see what happens next!

LOVE THE CAYENNE :p
sorry about the tiredness, hopefully you'll bounce back. as for myself, i have occasional lag of energy, generally going up and down the stairs but it may be my BP is low, need to check it. but still try to walk an hour a day. keep up the good work and again thx for the info! HAPPY CLEANSING! 8)

wouldn't that just be too easy? I wish it were ;) I believe the minimum days to do it safely is 40, unless you are under a dr supervision. Your body does get depleted a little while cleansing. Also, it is not safe to do them very often. You need at least a few months in between cleanses and you need extra transition days when coming off of an extended cleanse. Stanley Burroughs recommends mono-food meals when you are first coming off as it is easier for your body to assimilate one thing at a time.
I think that I may actually start weight watchers again after this cleanse. I am planning on around 20 days this time, but I have around 40 lbs total to lose before I am at my ideal weight. I find that I never eat enough through out the day. I am always surprised how much I eat and still lose weight when I am on weight watchers :)

maya-so how long a transition for a 40 day and how many of those days are mono?
weight watchers huh? did you know that dr. oz is doing a 1 million $ contest with weight watchers?? i've never tried ww but the little i do know is that they are a very healthy way to loose weight. they weigh and measure foods instead of buying their products if i remember right which is much cheaper and weighing/measuring controls portions. do you know if they have like vegetarian and/or vegans programs?? i rarely eat any fake meat so i'd be mostly fruits, veggies, grains and nuts and healthy oils such as flax, borage, coconut. thanks for sharing i may just look into it also. :D HAPPY CLEANSING :o

Jen - I think that you have to add an extra day of only oj or grapefruit juice for every 10 days that you cleanse before you start the veggie soup (or green salad if you are going raw). My longest cleanse was 21 days and then I did 2 full days of grapefruit juice before my soup on the third day. Then I decided to go about 80% raw for a month - I had been reading way too many yummy recipes on the raw food board/lemonhead recipe box while I was cleansing :) ... Mono food would be something like a bowl of cherries for one meal. a bowl of watermelon for one meal - as much of one thing at one sitting until you are full. A mono food diet would be something to start after you break your fast so that your body will continue to process and assimilate easily.
I have done weight watchers several times with great results. It's not about eating their food, or even specifically weighing everything. It's about knowing your portion sizes and having the correct caloric range each day. They do this with a points system that is easier than trying to count calories. I am always surprised how much more food I should be eating for weight loss. Every time I do it, it reminds me that I don't eat enough. You can usually sit in on a meeting for free and then decide to sign up at the end. They have an awesome website to keep track of everything. You can definitely do it as a vegetarian/vegan. Their main point is that you eat whatever you want - especially the foods you like, as long as you have the points available. and you can eat as much as you want of most fruits and veggies for little to no points. You get a ton of points each day and extra weekly "bonus" points for splurging. It's pretty awesome.

maya-thanks. last time i came off the MC i couldn't find decent oranges and bought organic frozen flash pasteurized (if i remember right). and i'd like to do mostly raw but i gotta tell you potato soup sounds TASTY right now lol.:p i went on the section that had recipes. bad idea. :( but lots of smoothie recipes, yum. :D and watermelon-love to do 3 day watermelon cleanses, great for the kidneys, wash and dry the seeds to keep for diaretic tea. i even know someone i went to church with that dehydrated watermelon and it was like taffy...YUM. ...
thanks alot for the weight watchers info too. sounds very doable!!!!!! even traveling which i will be doing next month....looks as though i will have to come off this and hope that i can be careful in NC and NY bc unfortunately i'm pretty broke and will probably be at the mercies of my hosts...i have been blessed on some raw fast food on sale- sprouted crackers, dried fugi apples, germinated nuts, so i plan to take what i can to avoid the BAD fast food..and i can eat on the plane, on the subway, etc. if i fall off the wagon a bit i can hop back on when i get back home!!! it's all good8)
wow just realized i haven't been out of kansas for 3+ yrs, used to travel alot crosscountry by myself from 2001-2005 and went up to idaho near canada over 3 yrs ago. i'm soo excited. even saw the raw restaraunts in NY and PA hope to try one anyhow....went to one in Ca...may have been Juliano's. yummy!! didn't care much for his "RAW" recipe book though, too complicated and too many ingredients most folks don't own:( want to try to make the sprouted essene bread tho. i have tons of wheat i bought for wheatgrass and just haven't used.....marrying kinda changed my course a bit. well i'm rambling and getting tired.

Yay! day 12 & 10 pounds down :) feeling great! Started at 200 so excited to get in the 80's & collecting recipes & ideas for Vegan & Raw meals. Food is tempting, but not as much as looser clothes & heading towards a new eating lifestyle! Exercising every night by walking a quick mile 1/2 pumping arm weights & feeling an abundance of vitality. This MC has been easy for me, with a few challenging moments, with food thoughts & tummy rumbles with slight aches. Enjoying my abundance of energy, getting lots of yard work done & cleaning & down sizing in the house. Not pushing myself, just listening to my body & resting & going to bed early a few nights.

day 27-i'm still onboard :p i have a confession...well last night my hubby and i went out. he got a buy 1 get 1 free (so he could take it home. nice for me bc 2 meals i'm not cooking yea!!!) BUT you had to buy 2 drinks...welll....i drank about 5-6 oz of coffee (it was 4:30pm) COULDN'T SLEEP TIL LIKE 2  i know i know i deserve it  BUT THEN i was awake when my hubby got up, 5am and then couldn't go to sleep thinking of all the things i wanted to get done on the house. so i did the SWF and then worked on the house from 7am until he got home at 9:30 pm. quite the workout!!!8) up & down the stairs all day, sorting, organizing, throwing away-the best part. lol. started running out of gas about 9ish. good thing i just had to warm up his dinner from last night. (got a real nice osterizer toaster oven that does about everything. I HATE MICROWAVES.-didn't' have one, purposely for 13+yrs, hubby's cousin came from NY, thinking we were deprived and bought us one) another yea!!! but i went through stuff i hadn't looked through in YEARS!! so good to have it done :D
maya-tomorrow is my 28th day, which is how long i was on the MC last time. still feeling great. and although i was hurrying around all day i only drank 6 drinks today was grateful that i have enough for a double in the morning before i juice bc i am pretty pooped :( but it's WELL worth it). i had bought enough maple syrup for 50 days but the more i think about it with the lengthy ease-out with going out of town especially my son's wedding...so still looking at 40 days. so still less than two weeks to go. sorry i wasn't on earlier, only turned the computer to get a fax # to fax something for my hubby. my car is in the shop so i'm tied to our small town til further notice. may mow tomorrow if isn't too windy. glad you're doing well. yea i don't have an appetite either too bad that won't last forever lol:p but just think how much our stomach will have shrunk. *WOOT* *WOOT* as my daughter woiuld say;) it actually doesn't bother me to go to a restuarant which my hubby doesn't understand. hoping i won't get that starving feeling til i meet my goal :-/

Day 11 here. Again with not getting enough lemonade in yesterday. I still feel ok, I haven't been using up too much energy during the day. I have been starting way too late. I haven't been able to get my favorite salt in my new town, so I have been lagging to get my swf done first thing. My nightly tea has been having a very rough effect on me in the morning. I only drink half a cup at night at medium strength (I have a hard time getting the teabag out sooner), and I am waking up with cramps. seems like it is doing its' job though as I am down 12 lbs :) Still going until I run out of lemons, which will probably be the middle of next week.
Good to hear from you, Jen! Oops about the coffee. Should have brought your lemonade with you, most restaurants don't care. You can just tell them you are fasting and ask for an icewater and an empty glass to pour your lemonade into. Or just order some peppermint tea. Did you do black coffee? That's not so bad, I'm sure your system flushed it out the next morning, you might just notice an extra detox symptom or two. :)

maya-hope you're feeling better :) i saw you were on here and didn't know if we could IM so i sent you a message. what day are you on and how long are you going for?
haven't been on a couple days, been tired, weak and discouraged with the lack of wt loss. wt loss-27 but slept in today and therefore peed 2x maybe the wt lol and also started my cycle today.:(
day 30-well it looks like this is my last day. i feel bad about it mentally i think than physically bc i 1st intended to go 50, then 40 but i've been getting very hungry esp thursday and felt like eating, eating, eating... i haven't been hungry since the 1st week. back to thursday...didn't want to blow the whole thing and so i bought a tootsie pop and spent 30 minutes sucking on it...ok so i don't eat them in my normal life routine but i figured it would be better than some folks i've read on here that go on binges for days. also think i haven't been drinking enough and have been feeling weak the last few days.
anyhow-the LORD has blessed me at the half price rack at the health food store whose name i will withhold to protect the innocent and guilty:rolleyes: in the last week or so i got-$65 worth of raw crackers for $6 bc they were 2 days expired, lots of other sprouted crackers, germinated nuts AND yesterday i got $80 worth of organic wild blueberries for $40 bucks which were double freezer bagged and tossed in the freezer for smoothies, toppings, etc. pricey yes....but an INVESTMENT for my health!!!;)
yesterday i got at a garage sale a aerogarden for $10 to grow romaine lettuce at home yea!!!!! and thought i could use it also for sprouts after they start to leaf out!!! i'm sooo excited to get back to the exciting health habits i once practiced before i got married but now my hubby knows i'm going to do these things and he can partake if he wants and if not ok as well. BUT i know my health is my responsibility and MY HEALTH IS MY WEALTH and NOTHING tastes as good as HEALTH FEELS!!!!...i still have enough maple syrup for 20 days so maybe i'll do another in a few months.8)
i'm probably gonna start my ease-out tomorrow...bought 15lb of carrots, 2 celery, 9 grapefruit and i'm going to get some oranges tonight. want to be careful and take like a week to ease-out. HAPPY CLEANSING and i'll probably keep checking in here to see how you all are doing.:o

Day 13 here. I had a full body, deep tissue massage last night and I think it really helped. I was still feeling yucky yesterday morning, but after completely re-hydrating myself, I was a lot better! Plus I am down 14 lbs :) I have a cleanse buddy and we have decided to break our fast on Tuesday morning. So that will be 15 days this time around. I am planning on another cleanse in January already.
Jen - I would bet that the way you are feeling right now has everything to do with starting your cycle, as well as the fact that you had a tootsie pop. Those things are pure sugar and you brought your hunger and cravings back with it :( Hate to say it, but when you put anything else in your body during the mc, you are starting yourself back at day one and your body is having to expel more junk again. I actually dreamed that I ate a bean and cheese burrito two nights ago, and felt guilty afterward in my dream! I think that you are just experiencing cravings, not actual hunger. It probably started with that cup of coffee the other night. They say, if you are craving something healthy, like an apple, it's hunger and to go have more lemonade. But if you are craving sweets, then it's not hunger, it's just a craving, and go have more lemonade anyway ;) Also, breaking your fast, you should be doing at least 3-4 days of orange or grapefruit juice - just sipping several glasses throughout the day, with plenty of water... you will probably be hungry on these days, but if you eat too quickly, you will feel it in a not good way. If you are going to do a raw food diet, after your few days of oj or grapefruit, you start off with oj or grapefruit in the morning, have raw fruit for lunch - best to stick with one type, then more fruit or raw vegetable salad for dinner. Then the following day, eat normally following your raw food diet :)

thanks maya-glad you're feeling better:) i've been feeling dehydrated myself, my lips are very chapped and have to put lotion on frequently tool although i think you maybe right about the coffee, the tootsie pop night, i wasn't hungry for junk but was HUNGRY and was out about like 2 hrs from home in a little town and was simply trying to eat something as small as possible in hopes of quenching the hunger. probably completely backfired bc of the sugar content. so i had good intentions to be minimal but didn't have much to choose from at this rinky dink convenience store. anyhow...i screwed up, bottom line:eek: lol i was at another health food store last night and i was looking at the kale and i could almost taste it....won't go into the way i like to eat it raw. and funny you mention apples bc yesterday morning was thinking of apples, my FAVORITE fruit so maybe it's time...just have a few more adjustments to get my kitchen ready for juicing...HAPPY CLEANSING!! :o
lemonhead girl-you're doing great. i too look forward to my walks...our weather has changed dramatically in the last 2 weeks but this week will be mild enough for me to go outside. during the COLD days i went into town and went to the local mall. upstairs is carpeted so you can powerwalk without your feet suffering afterwards. also my hubby is going to get my treadmill up to par tonight...had to make sure i had one moving out here in the boonies so i traded another piece of equipment with my sister. i bought a small bottle of organic lime juice and have used it a couple times bc i like limeades but didn't care for it so much although i'm sure it's better with fresh limes. i mainly bought it so in an emergency when i had to run somewhere unexpectedly or ran out of lemons, i had a quick drink to go. ohhh...did you have to order the myer lemons??? just wondering. not sure i've seen them around here. take care! :)

Checked out Colonic videos, it's costly, about $75 a treatment in my area, thinking about doing one of those when my MC is over. Any thoughts on that? Any one every have a Colonic? What can you share?
Making a shopping list & collecting recipes, for sample menus for after the fast & several weeks beyond. Anyone come across any good books or web sites for beginning Raw or Vegans? It's been about 10 years since I did my last MC, so I feel like a newbie. But this time around Vegan & Raw eating appeal to me, when I finish this MC & beyond.
My weight loss on MC has been WEIRD, if you ask me! 1st. 5 days down one pound, by day 12, 10 down & now for 5 days scale is stuck on 190 & seemingly won't budge. The scale was second hand from a friend who said it worked & I replaced the battery. This had me in tears this morning & my cycle is about to begin as well. Any one have any clues as to why the weight is not coming off? It is coming off, just not as much as I thought would, considering I'm taking in 600 to 800 calories. I drink 6-8 drinks a day. Doing the Tea at night & SWF most every morning since beginning. I will be visiting someone on Monday who has really good scale, so I can check.
It's Saturday afternoon & I feel a lot better emotionally! I really think it was getting out of my head & watching all tho MC video's from others on this same journey, that helped to shift my mood. Yay!
How much additional water are you all drinking above you 32 oz. MC drink?
No I didn't order the "Myer Lemon's" I had a friend, who had a tree & used to share them with me. I moved :( but still on the hunt for them, they show up every once in a while at Farmer's Markets I've been to. Very fragrant, once you smell one, you'll see what I'm raving about!
Well enjoy the rest of your weekend & above all be nice to your selves! :)

Hi LemonHeadGirl - Sounds like you are doing everything right. If you want to lose weight, you can stick to the minimum of 6 servings per day and reduce the amount of maple you are using. For 6 servings, I use 6 cups of water, 6 oz of lemon/lime juice, 5 oz of maple, and more than the recommended amount of cayenne. Your cycle could have something to do with it as well, I find it usually adds at least an extra 3 lbs to the scale, for me. I don't think that you need to go near colonics after coming off of a mc. I have heard that what we are doing right now is way better than colonics.
Hope that helps :)

lemonhead girl-how much cayenne are you using?? that can cause the runny nose, did for me anyhow (but i used extra cayenne, yum). also you are moving into the stage of cleansing (day 16-30) were you are ridding yourself of mucous, clearing sinuses as well as lungs:) it's good tho that you were able to take it easy today.
about the colonics-i have had and given colonics (interned at a health sanitarium in 2001). it's good that you are doing your homework concerning this. make sure it is someone who is VERY knowledgeable AND has done it for a long time. you could even ask to talk to a previous customer who has had this person give them their's bc there have been cases where the person performing them have perferated the bowel....VERY DANGEROUS. just be careful pls.
raw books-"RAW FOODS FOR BUSY PEOPLE simple and machine free recipes for every day" by Jordan Maerin-back says-:Now you can enjoy the simplest, healthiest foods nature has to offer, while living a busy lifestyle. This book is perfect for busy people, beginners to taw foods, health-concius slacker, and those following temporary cleansing prowgrams," "Enjoy raw foods while eating out, Find mail order resources for raw foods, Locate hard-to-find raw ingredients, Create a satisfying raw food menu, Turn the simplest foods on the planet into delicious feasts" it even has a few recipes for dehydrated food for traveling.copyright 2005, second edition. ISBN:0-9774858-0-3 $11.95
i have an ancient book over 25 yrs old so i was able to copy bc no way to reach these guys, but maybe you could find it in a used bookstore.
1st-Light Eating for Survival by Marcia Acciardo-this one has TONS AND TONS of recipes and info on (list of table of contents)-"yogic diet, food for thought, utensils, new age foods (keep in mind the lady who wrote this was born in '56), rejuvelac, sprouts, grasses, seaweeds, sun chesse, sun breads, beverages, juicers, green drinks, juices, smoothies, milks, herb teas, hot drink, liver flushes, appetizers, dips, soups, cream of soups-chowders, fruit soups, salads, salads with avocado, cabbage salads, and coleslaw, salads marinated, fruit salads, sandwitches (their spelling) and spreads, apple sauce and nut cream, vegetable loaves, dressings-sauces, fruit dressings and sauces, breakfast cereals, puddings, tweet-desserts, pie crust and fillings, cakes and frostings, fruit ice cream, snacks, resources-suggested reading" now what is so interesting about this book is its a bit larger than a reader's digest BUT it has 17 recipes on one page just for juices, very compact!!!!!!!! lots of interesting information! let me know if you CAN'T find it...
speaking of wt loss-for me it was great for the 1st 3 wks then plateaued and lost like just 2 lbs in the last week. UGH!! wasn't very thirsty then too but felt it when i just drank 6 instead of 8 so i wondered if it was too few calories and put me in halt mode.
water-i think i did pretty well for quite awhile. plus i would always drink like 5-6 oz of water before drinking a drink bc i liked extra cayenne but my stomache didn't
this last week tho wasn't thirsty and my lips have been very chapped for like 3 days. but i tried to drink at least 64 or more oz along with the lemonades.
hope this info has helped and HAPPY CLEANSING!!! :o

Hi! I'm Krista this is my first cleanse. I'm currently on day 2 and I didn't think I'd make it past day 1! I just need some help because I do not drink the 6 glasses of Lemonade. The most I can drink is 4. It's weird but I feel like if I drink any more I might be sick. I'm not trying to deprive myself of the calories I just simply can't take in that much of it! Is this a problem? Will it alter my cleansing results? I do add in a little extra maple syrup and drink lots of water throughout the day. If anyone could help I'd appreciate it. Thank you!(:

hi krista-i just came off 30 days today. as for me, i did 8 a day for like 24 days and then wasn't thirsty and dropped to 6 but the last few days i started to feel weak. i may have been partly bc i was doing alot of work at my house, up and down the stairs, etc. but although you probably won't feel it so early in the game it may bother you in a few days or so. try to maybe work 2-4 oz more a day and at least work up to 6 drinks...that's my suggestion. as for your hunger (i'm guessing bc you said you didn't think you'd make it past day 1) it will subside after day 3 or so....hang in there...it's SOOO worth it!! and so are you!!:D

Hey Sweet Lemon Heads! Thank you sooooo much Mayablue & ns jen for your replies, It was really nice waking up to them this morning & VERY helpful! I Love the support! Colonics are off the table, Yay! And thank you Mayablue for the book ideas, gonna check them out.
Drum roll please... Day 18, This morning my scale showed a 4 pound loss since yesterday, the first movement since day 12. 186 Yay! I'm WAY into the 80's! Weighed again tonight & I am excited to see that 186 again! :)That's how it's been coming off for me, slowly but in big chunks, down, 14 poundaroonies now! I really upped my water yesterday & today & will continue that. I believe the extra water did the trick, to release the pounds. I haven't been consistent with the extra H2o, but I'm a changed Woman now!
Took the last 2 days off from exercising, cycle started today & a mild cold has me with less energy than I have been experiencing, which has been off the charts for me, from the beginning. And my body is very achy, not sure if it is the MC or Cold symptoms.
@ Mayablue, I do like a lot of Cayenne Pepper, so my nose just runs & runs, I like knowing I am releasing toxins!
I was really feeling low yesterday, between the cold & cycle & achy body & the no weight loss, I had what could best described as a meltdown, tears & everything. But today I feel renewed in my MC journey! Today I spent the day working on my own collection of Vegan & Raw recipes & Ideas, pampering myself & taking it easy, while my body heals it self.
I appreciating so much, everyone that shares, thank you!
Wishing you all a easy MC & happy day! Yay to all of us, we can do it! :)

lemonhead girl-i started my cycle yesterday on day 30-maya was right that's probably why i felt like ----. anyhow i had already bought stuff to juice and drank oj today ease-out day 1 which seemed ok the 1st 2 6oz cups but then my stomach was killing me. switched to strained grapefruit and it was better and still tasty...i do drink 6oz of water 1st so it's diluted in my stomach.
let me know if you can't find Light Eating for Survival- it's way past the copyright, i could try to copy it for you...just let me know:) it's old but awesome kinda like alot of us lemonheads lol:p
i had virtually no energy 2 days before i started my cycle yesterday and felt crummy this morning and i slept in...so hang in there!!! it's not just you. i'm just glad i didn't start earlier in the 30 days bc i might have thought it was the MC and not my cycle!! and been tempted to quit! HAPPY CLEANSING!!! :o

Yes I can relate to wanting to quit yesterday, but we hung in there & here we are, Yay! I soothed myself by saying to myself "Hey Girl you have days like this & feeling's like this once in awhile, so get through today & see how you feel tomorrow." I went to bed like at 6pm & watched positive thinking videos. I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay into something called "The Law Of Attraction", the Movie "The Secret" is a great place to start if anyone is interested. I think most of it is on Youtube. I'll let you know what I find out about the book! And again I'll just keep affirming to all of you, how absolutely wonderful it is to have this support, to check in with during each day! I'm really cold, like a cold I can't warm.

Hi everyone! Glad to hear things looking up :)
Yesterday was day 14 for me and this morning I started on my Grapefruit juice. I am cleansing with a friend and she was ready to be done, so we decided to break today. This has been a rough one for me. I think the hormones in my bc are messing with me. It's not a pill, so I can't stop taking it or anything :( I have had headaches and nausea because my body is trying to regulate things. Not pleasant. I am planning on another cleanse sometime in January, and I am getting the bc taken care of this week so I won't have the same issue again. I feel like I should stick it out another few days because I woke up with a sinus issue today, but I am sticking to my cleanse buddies' schedule - we had originally been shooting for 20 days, but over the weekend, she developed a few canker sores and had trouble drinking the lemonade... I chalked this up to more detox, but oh well. I also had another really bad headache last night, not nearly as bad as the one last week. I'm really looking forward to veggie soup tomorrow night!!

Hi. I am on Day 2. I have spoke to two friends today who have express concerns for my health saying that on the MC 1) you do not get any nutrients for ten days and two you have constant spikes in your glycemic index which taxes your liver to produce the insulin needed to cope with the spikes form the maple syrup. This sounded reasonable but I did not feel discouraged... or so I thought. I have also been having problems with finding a substitute for the maple syrup as I live in a place where such things are not available and I realized after starting that I do not have enough maple syrup for the whole ten days. (am trying to find molasses) So, how am I doing? I just looked at my jug of maple syrup and imagined simply making pancakes and blowing the whole thing off! And I do not even really like pancakes! So, not that good... but I think/hope that I can make it through. I just wonder for how many days my mind is going to be rebelling! Thank you for receiving my sharing! Shandana

Hi Shandana!
I can absolutely say that your friends are wrong and obviously they have not researched it at all. You do not have spikes, as they put it. If you look at the nutrient breakdown for maple syrup, you will see that you are getting all of the nutrients that your body needs for the duration of the cleanse. Also, please make sure that you are using grade B maple. You can order maple on this site, or on Amazon and have it shipped to you. The only other substitutes for the grade b maple are agave syrup, or pure sugar cane juice, but if you are having trouble finding the maple, then the other two are usually harder to find. I would just order online asap. This past cleanse (I just broke my fast this morning), the first three days were very hard with the cravings, not so much hunger - just make sure you are drinking at least 6 servings per day. Hang in there! After tomorrow, you should have smooth sailing, and tell your friends to be quiet, unless they have done their research. Tell them to check out this site, there is a lot of info under "The Master Cleanse" tab at the top left. :)

Blessing,
Tanya
Hi Tanya, thanks for the response...I waited 3 months since my last cleanse. I found a thread on here that talks about hair loss being common when you do cleanses too close together or don't get enough calcium in between - The hair always grows back. I think lack of calcium is what happened to me. You can't tell by looking at me that I've had hair loss but I can tell that it's not as thick and more hair comes out in the shower. I am going to wait even longer before I do my next cleanse. (Maybe February)
Cheers,
shawk

Hello Everyone! It's day 19 & I feel 95% better today from the cold symptoms I had all weekend, gosh was my body achy. Scale said I lost another 2 pounds today, so that's 6 pounds down in 2 days, I know crazy huh!
What I attribute this to is, I have not been good about drinking extra water during the day. Yesterday I started drinking close to 40 oz. extra water over my MC drink & today about the same. Weighed this morning & 7 hour later, the scale still reads 184, down from 200 19 days ago. Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! :)
Now I know the reason for the MC is to cleanse the body of toxins & clean the colon, & weight loss is just an extra benefit. If you don't know my story, I had been on a low carb diet for 3 months prior to 19 days ago & actually gained 2 pounds. This was the same plan I had lost 60 pounds on 2 years ago. I gained 45 back :(
I was frustrated & at my wits end 19 days ago, just wandering around Youtube & happened onto one of Peter's MC video. I had Stan's book on my self, (it had been 9-10 years since my last MC) I had all the ingredients to start, so I did the next day.
I don't judge the motives or reasons anyone would do the MC, as I remember I never really had plans, or the desire to change my eating, as much as I do at this time in my life. I'm 51. I'm gonna give Raw & Vegan a try & I'm collecting recipes & idea's.
I really needed to see some movement on the scale, to get a grip on my emotions & feelings of despair & I know many of you can relate to that about your weight & your seemingly inability to gain control! The MC has got me back on track with my goals.
I felt like quitting, while I felt so sick & achy for the past 2 days, but today I'm upbeat & energy is returning. Feel like I will return to exercising tonight. I am so excited to be looming around the 70's Yay for me! :)
DRINK EXTRA WATER! Lot's of it, not so much that you make yourself sick, but you know! My body was holding on to water because I was not giving it enough, learn from my error! :)
Here we go into a new week, I wish you all a smooth & easy journey! :)

lemonhead girl-good job cruising through the bumps, and you have been inspiring as well!! 8) and about the cold, this happens to me every time i go on a fast. my hubby was suprised that i was cold when he wasn't. LOL. but what helped me is cayenne in my socks, esp at bedtime...only side effect was slightly orange toenail tinge for a day or 2 afterwards, bc i used ALOT  but my toes were TOASTY!!!! if cold in the morning take a hot shower but finish with quick COLD to close your pores so you don't go out in public and catch a chill...before bed take a hot shower and GO STRAIGHT TO BED!! lemonhead girl-having huge problems with my computer so as you can see my response to your last note came after your note here, weird huh??? i just gave up last night and turned off the computer. i'm on my 3rd ease out day and i too am dropping more lbs as i drink more water. funny thing is my lips were chapped, dehydrated sign but not thirsty anyhow drinking more and feeling better.
i can completely relate to the excitement you are feeling!!! i remember back in 1997 i was 225 (hmmm same start number!) and had lost 55 (was 280 )but was on lots of meds. history of smoking and drinking and the SAD diet. was 31 and felt horrible. started going to a church that encouraged a healthful diet, became vegan, pretty strict lost over half my weight and was back to 135 at 36, the same weight as i was at 18!!! although i was pretty strict i felt FABULOUS and my kids couldn't even keep up with me walking. LOL! but over time compromise here and there and i was back at 225....but i KNOW i'm worth it, and i'm back on board>>>> (you are all worth it too, even if this is just to reboot, cleanse and/or to loose a few lbs.) NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS FABULOUS FEELS!!!!!!!:o
soooo good to be back under 200 can't wait to see 70's myself. was at 178 when i met my hubby and was up to 225. YUCK!!! i like you wanted to cleanse and get rid of cravings and get "back on the wagon" so i'm setting up my kitchen and my mind8) hehe and am super pumped. my hubby is out of town a couple hours away and he wants me to come visit overnight so i'm juicing up some grapefruit juice and carrot and celery. if i don't mix the veg juice it will be better longer (esp beet). think i'm gonna be on juice x4 days and see where i'm at. feeling good. nice thing about when i juice MORE energy less sleep needed. MORE hours in a day. YEA!!!
PS lemonhead girl-if you wanna keep in touch outside the MC forum, send me a private message and i'll give you my facebook name, would love to have a online partner for health!!!
off to the track for a powerwalk before juicing!!! HAPPY CLEANSING!!! :o

Jen- Thank you so much for your good advice and support!(: I will try my best to up my intake of lemonade. I am on day 4 now. I'm so surprised because I think about food 24/7! I think I did kinda slip up today cause I was having some really bad cravings so I sucked on a few pickle slices. :( I didn't eat them, I just needed to taste something that WASN'T lemonade. It helped to get me through the day though. I feel bad but hopefully it wasn't that bad. :\ I am still going strong onto day 5 though so let's see what happens! (:

Hi everyone! I'm new here. Just finishing up day 5 while cooking for my family of 5 everyday. It was torture on days 2 and 3, but I haven't had much trouble today. I had so much energy today that I amazed my husband by waking up early and cleaning out the garage! :)
This is my second attempt. On my first attempt, my detox symptoms were so bad on day 7 that I quit. I'm looking forward to a full 10 days this time.
I do have a question - I did the laxative tea once (Smooth Move tea), on day 1, and I had woke up with severe stomach cramping at 2am. I was up for three hours with pretty bad pain. I have great results from the saltwater; do I still need to do the tea? Thanks!

Hi Everyone! Day 20 yay for me! Feeling really groovy & energy level is up again! From 200 down to 181 today, 3 pounds more since yesterday, that makes 9 pounds down in 3 days. Total of 19 pounds in 20 days. There is no rhyme or reason to how or when the pounds will melt off, everyone's MC story is unique. I'm glad I just kept pushing though, I'm on my way big time! 40 days here I come! If I continue to feel good, I'll keep taking it a day at a time & keep listening to my body & being very good to myself & kind & loving as my body & mind go through this transition.
I hadn't been drinking much extra water over the MC from the git go, I know, my bad! And 3 days ago I started drinking 40oz. or a little more water in addition to my 6-8 MC drinks. My body was needing the extra water & flushed out the old, is all I can think, for this dramatic 9 pound loss in 3 days! Wow!
My skin is luminous, clear & bright. My lines around my mouth have all plumped up & vanished. The pants I wore 21 days ago & popped the top button off & had to sew it back on, because they were so tight, (one of the final straws) I slipped them on today with a large space between me & the waist band & had to hike them up all day & that was more fun, than annoying!
Water is my new best friend! Today for the first time I see & feel the slenderness taking form on my body. I am excited & oh so happy that I feel more than hopeful that I'm back on track, with my slenderness goals! I like to say "I'm gaining slenderness" rather than "Loosing weight"... I'm no loser! ;) Gosh I just can't believe it's day 20!
Today I cleaned out my freezer & gave my neighbor a slab of bacon, some chorizo, 2 large packages of cheese & something I would have like to of kept, 1/2 of a watermelon someone gave me. She was thrilled with the extra food for her family & that felt good! This gesture to me was a great symbol, that I am wanting to make changes in my diet & move towards Raw & Vegan when I ease into eating again.
Long winded & happy ~LemonHeadGirl :)

Thanks!
Bravo for your day 5 :o I know I have read over & over the importance of following the MC plan as outlined & it all fits perfectly together & has been well thought out. But I can surely imagine you don't want a repeat of that experience! May I suggest to steep the tea for 1-2 minutes & make a really weak Tea & see if that helps & then steep longer over a week or 2's time. I did have mild cramping in the a.m. at first myself & now that has passed. May I also suggest you up your water in between you MC drinks during the day (gets things movin) I have had great success with doing this myself, in only the last few days. Happy cleansing, your doing great! :)

Hi everyone, I am also new to this forum. I am only just starting my MC today and hoping that I will be able to cope on it. I do have one small question which I haven't been able to find an answer to anywhere else. Is it allowed to drink Diet Pepsi while on the MC, I know this sounds like a stupid question, but it has no fat/calories/carbs etc, So I dont really see what harm it can do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Chris.

Hiya cstan: Nope, no diet coke or anything else. Only the ingredients listed for the cleanse. Drink lots of water and remember, this isn't forever. Just 10 measly days out of 365. ;) You can do it!!

Thanks LemonHeadGirl! I'll try making a weaker tea. Last night I drank only 1/2 a cup and it wasn't as bad. Today I've been having really bad cravings, though. It doesn't help that my toddler is trying to force-feed me potato chips, lol. I've resisted even a taste of everything else so far, and I'm determined to make it to day 10. The people who do it 20 days - or longer - really inspire me. I miss food!

Rather than returning to drinking Diet Coke or any Diet soda after the MC, I would suggest you educate yourself on the poison your consuming. I would suggest you look at what type of artificial sweetener your consuming & google it & be ready to have your eyes opened. Over the years I switched from the pink stuff, to the blue, stuff, to the yellow stuff, as each one came to be reported to be perfectly safe. I really thought the yellow (Spenda) aka Suralose stuff was safe & healthy... not so! Just do a lil' research. Whats left... Stevia! Calorie free & I have gotten used to the mild after taste which I no longer taste. I no longer drink sodas & I don't miss them, especially the poison I didn't know I was ingesting. Just for instance the blue stuff aspartame turns into formaldehyde in the body, I personally want to put that off a long as possible! ;) Wishing you a happy journey with MC! :)

Hey everyone! I'm on day 5 and I just have one more question. Can you use sweetener in the tea? I wouldn't need that much I just really can't stand the taste of it. It's starting to get really old and sometimes I even get nauseous just thinking about drinking it. :( I'm wondering if this cleanse is the right thing for me since I'm having a lot of trouble getting everything down. I have gone 5 days and really wanted to go at least 10, but the tastes are getting really old and I feel sick a lot. :( If anyone has advice that'd be great. You all are really supportive. Hope everyone is doing well! (:

I have heard some put 1 tsp. (that's the SMALL one)of their Maple syrup in their tea & I would think that would be fine, I've done it, but I don't think 2 or 3 would be ok! I have tried it & it's good. You may try doing what I do & that is to make a 1/2 cup of boiling water & make a smaller amount. And the tsp. of Maple syrup would definitely make a flavor difference in that small amount of tea. But NO other sweetener may be used.
And who ever labeled that "Smooth Move" Tea "Chocolate" needs to be %?!#% I think a shoe box might have more chocolate flavor than that stuff!!!!! But it's part of the MC & I'm playin by the rules!
Listen to your body & if it's telling you to quit than quit, only you can make that determination, because every ones MC experience is unique to them. I was wavering last weekend when I got hit with a mild cold & my cycle, my body was muy achy & my emotions were a bit ok a lot outta wack. That was day 17 & 18 but here I am on day 21! I rode the emotional & physical wave through it & glad I did, because I gathered more resolve. I'm shooting for 40 days, but I am also listening to my body to give me guidance.
You may find it very inspirational to watch the abundance of MC videos on Youtube like I do. Seeing the actual people doing the MC & hearing about their struggles, challenges, triumphs & success's really helps to sooth me when I'm feeling out of sorts, or just for enjoyment! ;)
Wishing you a happy journey, no matter which way you go! I Appreciate the support too! :)

http://www.truthaboutabs.com/artificial-sweeteners-natural-stevia.html Here's an article that talks about the different sweeteners & Stevia. And I would agree a lil' Stevia goes a long way, less is WAY more! A great substitute for sodas & such is something I discovered & LOVE! It's called "True Lemon". It's like those crystal lite & other "Straws" filled with powder. Except these are made from dehydrated citrus juices & Stevia. 4 flavors sweetened/unsweetened lemon, Raspberry lemon (my favorite)& orange. Make sure you get the sweetened Lemon if your gonna drink it, I didn't check & thought the stuff was awful at first. Then I figured it out. The "unsweetened" is great to cook with! Good to make popsicles & slushies with. I purchased True Lemon at Wal-mart box of 10 for about $2.50

kristarae-be encouraged. hunger should leave you in the next day or two. although it's more helpful if you stay away from good smelling food, esp if it's something you like! just the smell may make your stomach growl:p lol don't remember how long you plan on staying on the MC but if it's 10 days tomorrow you're 1/2 done. truly you're pretty much over the hump...good job!! sorry chris no:(...the MC is all about cleansing and rebooting the body like a new start. ANYTHING other than the listed ingredients, will hamper/inhibit benefits wanted with the MC. in fact as a nurse, i'd like to encourage you to see this as an opportunity to try to stop the diet pepsi bc if you research the side effects of nutrasweet...their are MORE complaints from side effects from nutrasweet than ALL MEDICATIONS COMBINED:eek: the MC is a great way for many ppl to quit habits such as smoking, etc and start anew!!! HAPPY CLEANSING!!!:o

Just thought I'd check in! End of day 6, and I know it's tiny compared to most, but I'm really excited to be making it this far! I really felt like giving up this afternoon, but realizing that there's only four days left...or 24 glasses of lemonade and 4 saltwater flushes...made me feel like I can stick it out. :)
To those experienced Master Cleansers, I have a question: I've lost 6.5 pounds, and some forums I read said that you only lose water weight on the master cleanse. I'm planning to go straight into The Maker's Diet from the Master Cleanse (eating organic, healthy food and no sugar), so I hope to continue to lose, but will I gain all of this back as soon as I start eating again? Is some of it fat, or is it all water and toxins? Thanks!

I'm on day 18, goal of 30. I'm watching my weight carefully, though - don't want to lose too much. This is my 7th cleanse, I think - over 4 years. So far this has been the best - no cravings, no headache. I've been recuperating from back problem, so haven't been able to run as much as usual. But now I'm back up to running 4 days a week (3-4 miles a day). I'm doing a 5K race on day 22. I love how clear my head is, how much energy I have, and how much more time (no shopping, cooking, washing dishes!). One odd little thing, this time - my head is going 90 miles an hour (monkey brain the Buddha called it). Don't know what that's about. I do wish friends and family were not so skeptical and more understanding, but I was the same way before I'd experienced the cleanse...

Day 21 & back to my o'l self again, yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Scale at 181 today & I'm happy with that, since I've had such a drop in recent days. (couldn't send this last night, so here it is on day 22) Day 22 & everything is much the same, I've kinda found my groove with MC & just relaxing into it. Weight reads the same 181 & I'm still cool with that, I know my body is releasing toxins & pounds fluidly & perfectly. And a loss will show pretty soon & I will be in the 70's in no time, I'm so close! Yay! All my clothes are getting looser, even my tennies are looser, that's fun! Bra no longer digging into me. :) Extra water has my skin on my face so plumped & lines are gone. No hunger today & when it comes, I have no problem in having it just pass on by. I actually enjoy watching cooking shows. Some may see it as torture, but I like it! Seems like the days are flying by & day 30 seems so possible, as does 40. Wishing you all ease & flow with your MC! :)

Hello All, on the second day of my second cleanse (the first one I only lasted 3 days) I noticed I was suppose to refrigerate the maple syrup after opening. It sat on my countertop 1 1/2 days after opening. I then put it in the refrigerator, but, was skeptical about using it. Will the maple syrup be effective, or do I need to purchase more? Thanks for the help!

If your house hasn't been too hot, I think it should be fine :) I have done that before, accidentally. Also, you will be using it all up within a few days, so it doesn't need to be preserved for a very long amount of time. Good luck!

I'm in the middle of day 8, and I suffered through watching my family eat dinner at Outback Steakhouse last night without licking or tasting anything, yay! I didn't think I could do it. Looking forward to finishing, but I'm not thinking about food as much anymore, which is nice.
I was wondering if anyone knows if the weight you lose on MC is only water weight? Does it all come back the day you finish the diet? I've lost 7 pounds (I was losing every day, but today it stayed the same), and I'm planning to do the Maker's Diet right after this, but I was wondering if I can plan to keep any of this off. Thanks!

Day 24 and all is well, the MC seems effortless at this point! Yay! Nothing about the SWF is effortless tho, but I just get through it & know I'm doing my body good! I was thrilled to take the 3 1/2 inch extender off my Bra this morning, as it was fitting too loose, ahhh fits just right now, with no pinching! 3 days and no movement on the scale, but at this point & my MC experience, this is the norm for me. Several days, up to 5 in the past with no movement, so now I'm relaxed about it. Speaking of "relaxing" how do you MC's pamper & relax yourselves. For me it's a hot bath every night, ohh I so look forward to it! :) Happy cleansing! :)

Definitely not just water weight. As long as you stick to a healthy diet after you break your fast, you will retain most of your weight loss. I usually notice getting back about 2-3 lbs once I start eating again, but if you continue with a healthy diet, then you should be able to keep losing or maintain weight.

Day 25 & cruzin! 40's looking like a real possibility! No fluctuation on the scale still at 181. But that's how its gone for me, but I know all is well & the 70's are right around the corner! Drink extra water, that is my best advice! And focus on ease rather than struggle. Pamper yourself in anyway you can. My favorite way, hot nightly baths with a new organic Lavender (good for you ingredients) body wash... Yum! Just bought four 16 oz. Maple Syrups, my way of committing. Happy cleansing to all of you, thank you so much for you support! I appreciate it greatly! ;)

Day 26 Drum roll please! THE SCALE MOVED!!!! 3 pounds since yesterday, I knew it would, I upped my extra water yesterday, it's so easy to to slip away from that very good habit. 5-6 days with no movement, this has been the norm for me. I post this so others can know, every ones MC results are not the same. There are no exact results, but I believe all results are normal for the individual. I'm in the 70's, 22 pounds gone, 178 down from 200! Yippie Galore is right! At this point in MC for me, I feel like I'm coasting, if it were horrible I would quit. I was hungry yesterday, but nothing I couldn't just look at & feel. I think it's good to feel hunger, or the different types of hunger. I gave into hunger, when it really wasn't true hunger in the past. And yesterday I got to see how it came & went & how it's always a choice I make to give in or not. Happy Cleansing! ;)

Where did you read that & who was reporting it? I'm afraid I can't enlighten you further, all I know is I feel good & full of energy MOST days on the MC. I have not heard of coco nectar as a replacement for the Maple syrup. What I do know is, the Maple Syrup is used because of it's nutritional value. I'm not sure if coco nectar measures up nutritionally & you may want to investigate that further, as not to deplete yourself in anyway. Be sure to drink extra water throughout the day! Happy cleansing! :)

Day 27 woo hoo! Today was challenging emotionally, just found myself in boo boo kitty mood! I took it easy, didn't blame the MC & just soothed myself with, I have days like this once in a while, even when I'm eating. I rode it out & by evening, I am feeling way better! I thought about eating, but then thought how this is old behavior, of turning to food when I am sad or down. I wasn't going to eat, but I got to look at that aspect of me & look & feel it, from a different perspective. I didn't want to exercise tonight, it would have been easy not to today, but I did & that really seemed to Up my attitude! I walk a fast mile with arm weights. A hot shower melted all the rest of the hard edges off me. I feel like tomorrow will be a much better day. Some days I just have to go slow & easy & be gentle with myself. For me there are so many benefits of doing a long MC, I get to look at my feelings towards food & how they ebb & flow from day to day! The MC has been such a blessing for me to experience at this time. :)

Day 31 & all is VERY well! Down 3 more pounds, 172 down from 200, very happy with the 28 gone! My energy has remained high. Looking forward to the ease out process. Shooting for 40 day's which seems like a sinch from this perspective, may go further after. Just letting my body talk to me & it's says "go for it!" I study & practice something called The Law Of Attraction", if interested a good place to start is with the movie called "The Secret". I believe this is why I have had a easy go with MC. I focus on the positive & look away from the negative. Wish this board was more busy, but like everything, it goes in cycles. I just appreciate having a place with like minded people, to check in with & post my results. Anyone know of any good beginning Vegan or Raw cookbooks, or websites you can turn me on to? I'll be easing into that lifestyle once the MC is over! :)

Day 32 & I feel like the lone MC-er, wishing there was a lil' more action here! But it ebbs & flows like everything else! Doing great today & wondering when I will start easing out. I know I will start on a Friday, so I will have several days home to relax into it. Fruits & veggies sound so yummy! Vegetable Soup is gonna be so good, as it's really chilly here in the California Desert! I've frozen at least 5 pounds tomatoes from my garden! Yay! Over & out! :)

Hi lemon head girl,
You are doing awesome! I loved reading about you practicing the law of attraction and applying it to this. You have done so well. The longest cleanse I've done is 14 days and after I quit, I wished I had kept going. Any tips about what has helped you the most?
When I read your post, you were exactly where I am when you started. Yesterday was day one and I was at 199. Ugh! How did that happen? Actually, I am learning more about myself and becoming more aware of my behaviors. For one thing, I recently got to admit to myself that I sometimes have anxiety. I have lots of strategies for it, one of which is grazing until I sedate myself. No wonder keeping the weight off has been so hard. So while I'm here, I want to share more about the emotional side of what I'm experiencing because I think that will help me learn why I succeed and then fail when it comes to food. I also want to commit to coming here, maybe to the raw food site, and continue checking in once I am eating again. From doing this cleanse multiple times over many years, I have recognized that there are a lot of things I need to put in place to support myself better- like going to the grocery store on a schedule so that I have food to eat. So, that's what I'm here to talk about this time. I really want to support myself moving forward. I lost 4 pounds yesterday and am at 195! Taa-daa!
One of the things that starts anxiety is when I get overwhelmed. My grandfather died recently and I have been doing the lions share of handling all of his affairs. My back room is piled with boxes from his house filled with papers I need to sort and or throw away, every time I see that room, I want to avoid it. So right now I'm going to go make lemonade and grab one box and go through it. That is how to get the pressure off. The way out is through.

Yay 33 & I am totally stoked a roooni! I got on the scale this morning & it read 169. I'm in the 60's now! Major yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy for me! Started at a petite 200 ;) down 31 pounds!
Now I know MC-ing is not all about the weight loss, all tho when I was younger that's All that it was about (did my last MC 9-10 years ago & a few before that & I've done lots of juice fasts prior to that too)
But this time around with MC, I am looking forward to adopting, or at least exploring the avenues of a Vegan & Raw diet. The MC is a process & it can be an empowering tool as it has become to me, to restore my faith in myself & kick start my enthusiasm back for returning to a slender healthier me!
Hey if any of you wanna become friend's on Facebook, drop me a personal note here & we can hook up! There are several really good MC groups & pages on FB I found uplifting & supportive too!
The Law Of Attraction is always in my back pocket & in my mind! What we focus on expands, one way or the other!
I cannot express this loud enough... DRINK EXTRA WATER! It keeps the toxins & the weight flowing out & off . Friday I weighed 171 I was home all weekend, so I drank even more water than I normally do. I normally add about 50 to 60oz. more daily. This is easy if you just add 8 to 10oz. after you drink each serving of MC & I like the benefit of rinsing my mouth from the sugary/lemony drink! Now please hear this as well, don't over do it, you'll make your self sick! Just an extra 8 to 10 oz. per MC drink! I'm tellin you the extra water is key! :)

Day five ends. I had an abundance of energy today, which surprised me. Unfortunately, I could only get four glasses of lemonade in. I kind of forgot about it since I didn't feel any hunger. It's not a good thing, I know, I will make sure I do better tomorrow.

Day 3. Am 193.5 from 199. Yippee! I love the first few days... Am looking forward to seeing the 180s again someday soon.
Molunat, I know what you mean about more energy. I woke up this morning at 4:30 am, awake! Crazy. I didn't get up of course but I did get up around 6 am. The recent time change has helped I'm sure.
Anyway, I did my tasks yesterday and didn't just get through one box, but several. That is helping. Goal is one more box today. The more organized I stay, the better I feel and less impulse to eat.
Have a great day, everybody! :)
