I was going to start on Sunday but I'm starting tomorrow. My body is SO ready for this, and I feel emotionally ready as well. I don't have work for the next two days, and after that I don't know when I work next so I'll have to check my work schedule.
I am so completely excited! Wish me luck, guys. :D
GOODLUCK!!!!!

Hi all! I am sooooo glad I am still with all of you. I almost gave up on day 3 when my husband quit, but I decided I can go at it alone and I feel great! The first 3 days were really hard, but day 4 and 5 are good. My face is starting to clear up, after a horrible break out. I have lost 4 lbs and am full of energy! I even went to work last night (seafood restaurant) and didn't cave! This is my second cleanse. The first one I only made to 7 days, so I am really going for 10! I know I can do it! To all that are having a hard time, just give it one more day and see how you feel in the am! I gaurantee you you'll feel good!:D

Everybody's doing great! It's MC2D12 for me and I'm feeling about the same - which is good. Yesterday was a hectic day for me and I didn't get to work out, but such is life. I'm trying to drink 70 oz of lemonade a day instead of 60 oz to see if it will help with the weight loss and detoxing, but that didn't happen either yesterday. I did drink more water tho. Trying again for 70 oz today. Am now down 10.6 pounds.
Isn't it interesting as your friends watch you progress, gaining energy and losing weight, how they start to ask you about it more and more? I have at least 4 friends who are considering doing the MC now and at least one who has already started.

Im on day 7 of my first cleanse. I've lost 10 lbs. I was smoking a pack a day pre-cleanse and no desire to ever smoke again. I have been working out and have plenty of energy. I also take a medicine for my thyroid. I feel great! :)
That is great that you no longer want to smoke! I was a social smoker who would only smoke when she goes out (but that would often be 3 times a week, so it was enough). I have no desire to smoke now either and do not plan on starting again after this is over. :D

So day 8 and my morning is not off to a good start. I totally overslept by 2 hours. I didn't want to skip the SWF, so I did it, but only have about 1 1/2 hours before I have to leave to work. Lets hope my very long drive to work is not a disaster....:(

Day 6 Doing the SWF as a "Shooter SWF" worked well. I don't have trouble with the SWF as I can usually chug it down in less than a minute. But, it's still nasty. I tried doing the salty part as a shooter and it worked well. That might be another form for those who struggle with the SWF.

Day 8
7lbs down.
I have a doctor's appointment. I know they'll make me step on their scale and I hope the weight on that scale doesn't discourage me. Doctors scales are always off, jeans, boots and jackets of course add pounds!
K. Lost 7llbs. That's all I need to know..
I'm skipping the SWF this morning. I didn't get up early enough. Since I made this appointment yesterday and didn't have time to prepare. Well, I woke up at 7:30is but somehow fell asleep for another hour and half. I hate when I do that. Another thing I'm hoping for with the MC is to help get my sleep schedule back on track so I can wake up early and go to bed earlier.

I don't want to go to work. I'm so pooped. Don't know how you guys that have done this the entire time being at work, or school. I have to go in and out of class rooms, crawl around on the floor, climb up ladders and work on switches and hubs... and it seems like all that make me dizzy and queezy.:p Some times I'll walk into a classroom from the cold and the teacher has it so hot that I can hardly take it.
Down 22.5 lbs as of this morning.
Don't know if my cold went into my chest (usually does) or if it is detox, but doing a lot of hacking up misc. new forms of plastic.
Thinking it's time for me to go to the store and get some oranges, and stuff to make some veggie soup.

Hello everyone, I'm on day 7 and feeling great. Lots of energy and slept for over 10 hours last night. Some observations, so far. The salt water flush has just not been happening. This has happened before but never this long. I am sure that in time I will get usual results, but I am not sure what this means. I am extend this cleanse to beyond 10 days. I have noticed that my sinus problems cleared up which have allowed easier breathing. I am continue to negotiate steps like they are nothing, where as before I would have to stop at the top of the stairs to catch my breath and hope that I did not get to dizzy. I have three days left to go and I see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I hope everyone is doing well and keep me posted as to all that happens while cleansing.

Good Morning All, Day #7 is beginning. Was up at 6AM again today and didn't go back to sleep. What is happening to me?! Must be something good!
Last night I had to meet some people at one of the coolest restaurants in the city and sipped lemon tea while they feasted on some ridiculously scrumptious appetizer and red wine which I could smell from where I was sitting! Fortunately it wasn't a whole dinner so it didn't go on for hours. It wasn't as awful for me as I would have thought although I really am in love with the whole exercise of eating :D
When I got home I also realized I was out of grade B MS so I had no choice but to run to the late night convenience store to see what they had in stock--half expecting Mrs. Buttersworth to be my only option. Amazingly they had Black Strap Molasses, much lower in sugars and in dollars! I have read on these posts that it's an option so I was looking forward to trying it. At first I thought it was kind of intriguing and the dark color made me think it was going to taste like bouillon. But it doesn't. It's a little yukky compared to the MS. Oh well, it will have to do until I can get to the store later.
I checked the board before I went to bed last night--wow talk about a lot of posts!! I don't remember seeing this many during my last cleanse. Hey Res, if you are still reading this, is this an unusually chatty group of people?? :) Speaking of writing, congrats on your book, kpainter! That is awesome!
Sunday is Day#10 for me and I'm pretty sure it will be my last day until next time. That's all for now. Have a GREAT day everyone! :)

Lost 6 pounds
I so enjoy reading everyone's posts, but I don't have much time to read them. I start from where I posted last but then there are about 10 pages after that when I get back on again so I have to start at the end again. Oh well, it's good to be here. I do this in the morning while I am waiting for my SWF to kick in. The key of the SWF is getting the temp just right to where it is hot enough to drink fast and then it's not so bad.
I have never noticed so many restaurants before and I am making a list of all the foods I want to eat once I get off the cleanse and all the restaurants I want to go to. That will be my reward for reaching my goal. Like Betty09 said, what holds me back from any temotation to eat is thinking how sick it would make me and my body would reject the heavy food in my system and I would be a tratorto my cause right now if I did eat. So I am going to stick to this.
My goal was 20 days, but I think I will do 14 this time. Just getting over 10 is a victory each time and it does the job for me.
My daughter gets a colonic every year or so and that really helps her, but I think I would rather go with the MC as it seems more natural.
Wish me luck this weekend as I will be going out to restaurants with my son who just got back from Iraq, my daughter and our 2 grandsons. I prepare the picnic too and will have lotsa food around me. In a way I almost enjoy the test as I get so close to the food, but then I see how much will power I do have and it is encouraging for me. Ha!
Well keep on keeping on MCers!! We're in this together!

goodmorning fellow lemon and limeys!
today is mc3 day7. and just like clockwork. detox!:p:p
a tiny bit of sore throat. a little nose blowing. some lower back paind and a little upper leg achyness.
this is all fairly mild but different than the other days. and i wanted to note it.
i'm soooooo glad i did an IR sauna last night to warm up and sweat out some toxins or i might really be hurtin' this morning!
the swf did not go down very smoothly this morning, but i got it down and am almost finished 'flushing!' for this morning. ;)
i had really been struggling to get all my drinks in but with some effort got 5 in yesterday. i'll really try for the 6 today. i had been doing one drink at a time but at 7pm yesterday i was only at 3 so i made it a double. why havent i been doing that all along? 3 doubles and bobs your uncle! :D
yesterday day6 was definitely my worst craving day. those are tough.
but, down 5.5 lbs and happy about it. :)
limeaid cheers!

Good morning MCers! I am officially addicted.... It took all my restraint to not check posts when I walked in the office (stayed away for an hour :) so last night I steeped the tea only 3 minutes and drank only 3/4 - slept like a baby! No cramps It was wonderful! I felt like singing "The hills are alive with the sounds of Music" or something like that. Anyway stay positive Too Legit Too Quit (love your name) people are always afraid of what they do not understand. I have been getting both positive and negative feedback. I only keep the positive stuff like You are so strong, good for you, what will power. So remember MCers
YOU ARE SO STRONG!
GOOD FOR YOU!
WHAT WILL POWER!
oh I forgot to mention last time when I got that skin rash it was after I went on a cleaning frenzy. I cleaned with Bleach and every cleaning thing I could find. I think its the sense of smell that drove me crazy. Seems like I'm getting in that mode - so if anyone else has sensitive skin you may want to lay off the strong cleaners - you might get a rash ;)
okay back to work TGIF

I just joined the site and I am currently on Day 2 (going for 10). Getting through the salt water flush was a chore on both days - but if that's the hardest part then I will press on.
Fortunately I work out of my house and can stay home most of the time while giving the program a go! I have 3 teenagers who think I am crazy but cheer me on nonetheless.
So far so good!

MC day 9
Thanks to those that gave me feedback about the weight loss peice. I now feel much better about the fact that it has taken my body 8 days to lose any weight. I now realize that it does not mean I am not detoxing. I actually lost three last night!
Overall I feel great, have lots of energy and I think I will continue on past 10 days! I am hosting a dinner party tomorrrow night but had people over last weekend and did fine-- WILL POWER. I have been getting up for work at 6:30 and staying up until 11 or 11:30. Amazing. Also happily managing a three 1/2 year old and 4 month old after work. Last night, my three year old asked "when are you going to stop drinking". Referring to the lemonade mix of course!
I did have major surgery (C-section) four months ago. Maybe it is taking a little longer for my body to respond.
On my last cleanse I gave up soda and have not touched it since. Hmm... maybe this round I will give up my morning cup of coffee.

At work.. I can hardly sit up in this chair. NO energy. I feel like a sea turtle that has been at sea for 2 months and just walked up on the beach.
Toolegit - and SunnyRae - Yep, butt pee is much better than doing Tea at night and Tea in the morning. Especially if you think that stuff tasted like wet socks. I'm sick of Lax Tea. Barf:eek:
Sunnyrae that was a good idea about making doubles. I wish I had thought of that a few days ago too. I'm having a hard time drinking as many Lemonades as I should. My water consumption is down too.:(
Oh well, back to work. Yeah... working at sitting up right in this chair. TGIF... a week of doing the MC at work and I am DEAD.

Blah. 7lbs down and I'm still depressed. I want it to GO FASTER.
Because I'm not eating, I have no where to go and no life or a social life. Places I like to go to to get health food or junk food just to get out of the house... I can't go. So it's like the only place I can go is the gym or drive around aimlesly wasting gas. It's 26 degrees out, snow and ice on the ground and I took my dog to the beach...LOL Lots of sun out today. But it didn't help much. Maybe I'll go to the casino and waste $20.

OK since I cheated 2 days in a row.I'm starting over completely.Today is DAY 1 I had my laxative tea last night.Around 9-10 o'clock I had an elimination.I had my swf and then had an 2 elminations around 11:00am.What I'm doing is consuming a gallon of water a day along w/ my lemonade and see if that helps my cravings.
Is it safe to drink a gallon of water a day while doing the cleanse?
I want to be sure.

Thanks! LOL, I don't think that would be a very good video. Although, there was a guy who showed the toilet after doing a liver flush, pretty nasty.
My daughter gets a colonic every year or so and that really helps her, but I think I would rather go with the MC as it seems more natural.
Colonic are awesome. I got one on day 3 of my Pre-cleanse diet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFZHRROA5Kk). They probably get as much waste out in a 45 minute session than the Master Cleanse does in 5 days, literally.

January 9th, 2009, 11:49 AM
I am on day 5 and have dropped 11#. Before some of you start wondering, 'Why can't I do that", this is my 6th cleanse and I began this one with my weight back to where it was before I began the last one. I have gained back quite a bit after each of my cleanses, actually. I think it is fluid retention from toxins, inflamation or something. I imagine it will slow down a bit. I am still pretty happy about it. I have made progress in changing my eating habits after each cleanse but there is still much room for improvement. In spite of what I have gained back between cleanses, my size of clothing does not seem to make the jump as much as I would expect.
I am hoping to go for 30 days here to get down into territory I have not been in for over 20 years. I am hoping that getting rid of the extra toxins in the adipose will help me keep the weight off this time. Plus, I won't be lying on my drivers lisence any more. :)
May decide to keep going until I am down to my ideal weight. We will see how it goes. That would really be exciting!
Hardest thing is that I have a husband and 4 kids still at home and want to make sure they are well fed. Funny thing, I seem to get real ambitious about cooking and baking when I am on the MC. Go figure. My son says, "Mom, I love it when you go on the MC. The house always smells so good." (from all of the baking, of course :) )
For the year 2008...
1st MC- 16 days
2nd MC- 13 days
3rd MC- 5 days
4th MC- 12 days
5th MC- 16 days

Day 9: I knew last night that today was going to be a rough one. A headache hit right before bed. I woke up with sinus city pain, neckache and headache. Throw in a few body aches and pains and stomach cramps. I could probably check off more than half the things on the detox list. I have no desire for anything remotely yellow or lemonade-ish but I'm forcing it.
On the positive side, joint pain that I've been living with (if you've experienced it you'll know what I'm talking about) is "diminishing" quickly! :D Gosh I love this cleanse! It's similar to the Tin Man getting his joints oiled! lol Movement isn't as painful. So in my misery I'm a happy camper. "I'm schizophrenic and so am I!" :D
I hope you're all hanging in there no matter where you are in the cleanse,
*Go all the way
*Don't quit on a detox day. Expect to feel crappy.
*Do something you like, epsom salt bath, movie, music and dance and sing
*accept where you are and know that things WILL get better. :)

I don't know why this cracked me up exactly, but it made me think of a Dr Seus book. :) (Try Agave Nectar instead of maple. A lot of people can't stand the mix of the ingredients. Agave is just sweet and doesn't really have a flavor). :)

Day 5 MC5. Easily the easiest cleanse I have done to this point. Not much hunger, craving or pain. Just feeling great and losing weight. I'm down 10 lbs today from before I drank my first tea. I got into some 34 jeans today so I was excited about that. They were a little tight, but they'll be fine next week. I think it's a little easier because I have my wife and friends at work that are supportive, in fact 2 from work started, they are on day 2 and doing so good. They were a little tight, but they'll be fine next week.
This is a week of firsts for me on the cleanse
1) my tongue actually changed for the first time. It's kind of whiter-pink with almost and orange tint in some places. The only diff this time is that I'm using Grade B MS instead of the cheap Grade A and I also use the Light Blue Agave interchangably with the syrup just to mix it up a bit.
2) I had an accident in the bathroom this morning. :-( Don't laugh at me, I know some of you hae done it too. I was at the urinal and thought I could pass a little gas, WRONG!!! I knew that before hand too, just wasn't thinking. But usually my SWF is totally out of my system by at most 10AM so it wouldn't have been a problem, but not today. It wasn't too bad. I caught myself pretty quick and got to a stall. Oh well, I was about to come home for lemonade lunch anyway.
Any opinions on this technique of taking the cayenne a different way than mixing it in the lemonade? Sometimes I take the cayenne and just put straigt from the measuring spoon onto my tongue and gulp it down with the lemonade real fast, then just enjoy the taste of the lemonade alone the rest of the glass. I don't mind the taste or heat of mixing it, but this just allows for some variety, I can also handle A LOT more cayenne this way which I know helps break down the junk. This is the ONLY thing I do that isn't in the Burroughs Book. Well, I don't think Blue Agave is either, but I've read it's fine and I haven't seen any adverse results from using it. One my friends that is on it finds it MUCH easier to handle the cayenne this way since she doesn't like HOT and the bitterness that it adds.

Same here. I was within 5 or10lbs of what I weighed Summer 08. I fasted for over 40 days and I lost over 30lbs when I was done in August. It disgusts me that I I let myself regain 15-20lbs. I just want it gone.
To me it doesn't even seem like real weight, it seems like lymph congestion and fluid retention because my hips get puffy. It's not like solid fat, it's puffy-ness. Day 9, 7lbs down and it's already half gone.
I put jeans on for the first time since starting. They just came out of the wash and drier which is when they're the tigthest. But they weren't any looser. So that's adding to my depressed feeling. Last year after my fast, I could pull these things up and down without unbuttoning them!

Day # 12
Day 12 started out well this morning. My SWF worked better today than it has on any other day this cleanse! Yaaaaa! :D
I'm back to freezing today after feeling just a tiny bit warmer later in the day yesterday. I'm sitting here typing with gloves on and a fleece blanket wrapped around me and it's not helping.
I've now lost 7 lbs. in all. At this point I'm still planning to do at least 14 days, so Sunday evening I'll have to decide whether to keep on or not. Right now, part of me wants to keep going because I want to lose some more weight, and part of me says that 2 weeks is enough! We'll see!
Welcome to all of you newcomers.
Everybody keep strong and cleanse well!

the weight doesn't seem to be coming off as fast as i want either, my jeans are still too tight to get on. hmmm. i only have one more day til day 10 (which is my last day of the mc), but i've resolved to continue on my loosing trend. if i can loose another 10lbs, my jeans and all of my other clothes will fit again. now that i've kick-started the process, if i stick to a healthy plan, hopefully i'll not only get the extra weight off, but i won't put back on what i've lost from the cleanse.
good luck to all of my fellow weight-loosing, cleansing buddies!

Day # 12
Day 12 started out well this morning.
Hi Linn,
I'm on day 12 too and I'm cold again too after being warmer yesterday and I feel awesome too. Yay! I love this cleanse.

So, I'm on Day One. So far, not bad. I'm not hungry despite the 17 hours I've gone without food. Ha! Just a few more to go.
I do hate the cayenne pepper though. Hopefully I'll get more used to it.
I'm doing the MC with a friend. He's about to start an intense cycling regimen and wants to be at his healthiest. I kind of just came along for the ride, but am really excited to go through with it! I've read about it for the past year, but wouldn't commit.
It's so encouraging to read your posts! I'm definitely looking forward to it now.

A word of encouragement to those feeling like things are winding down because:
*You're sick of the lemonade
*You're sick of feeling tired
*You're sick of the tea (blech)
*You're sick of the swf
*You miss the heck out of food "everyone else is eating" waaa :o
You are on the front lines of the battle buddies, and it's no fun BUT there's no going back so you have to keep moving forward, even when you simply feel like quitting. YOU are the only one who can do this for yourself. You change the oil in your car and notice it runs better. Hmmm wow. Right now you're changing your own oil. ;) You deserve it.
You will actually know when it's time to quit because your body will tell you AND you'll know when you're not supposed to quit because of the "arguement going on in your head". ;) You WANT to quit, but you're not supposed to quit - yet. haha
Here's what happens when you quit too soon. You either admit it outloud or you admit it to yourself or you don't; you look back and thing "I should've kept going. I already went through the worst part of it. I quit too soon". Oh if I had a dollar for every person who admits this in a thread. ;)

Hi everyone. Day 6 is almost over for me. Its going ok. Eliminated a little more today, but nothing like I thought it'd be. I'm not at all hungry, but i realized today that i miss the "socialness" of eating. Cocktails and horsdourves were the norm around here on Friday evenings...I would love to be making a cosmo and having some chips and salsa or something like that right now! And Sundays watching football with the snacks... that kinda thing. Like I said i'm not hungry and I'm really not craving anything, its the habit of doing those thing. Guess that proves its all pretty much mental after a little while. This weekend will be tough though. We're expecting alot of snow tomorrow, which means i'll be home both tomorrow and sunday. I dont know about you guys but its always fun to sit around watch movies and eat and drink during snowstorms. THAT wont be happening! As far as detox symptoms I havent had anything really bad so far. My lower back is still hurting a little, but nothing terrible and my tongue was white and my whole mouth sorta felt "coated" but thats better today and my tongue is already getting pink. And I read alot of people getting major cramps from the tea. I havent ANY! I hope I'm using the right stuff cause i want this to work!!! Its organic Smooth Move with Senna. Can someone let me know if i'm off track here? Keep up the good work everyone...! Happy Friday!

Colonics: They probably get as much waste out in a 45 minute session than the Master Cleanse does in 5 days, literally. Actually the negative about the colonic is that is pushes it all UP first and then some of it down. It can't reach the small intestine. The MC however works from the top DOWN. ;)
Edit: I looked it up in the book and here ya go:
ANOTHER CLEANSING AID: INTERNAL SALT WATER BATHING
As it is necessary to bathe the outside of our bodies, so it is with the inside. Do not take enemas or
colonics at any time during the cleansing diet or afterwards. They are unnecessary and can be
extremely harmful.
There is a much superior method of cleansing the colonic tract without the harmful effects of customary
colonics and enemas. This method will cleanse the entire digestive tract while the colonics and enemas
will only reach the colon or a small part of it. Colonics can be expensive while our salt-water method is
not.

I failed today, but I'm not going to let it get to me.
I've realised what's going to be hard for me throughout this fast.
For one, I HATE the taste of the SWF. Oh my gosh, I think that was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I even used a straw!
Secondly, I didn't like the cayenne pepper so much, either. I'm thinking I'll do what I've seen other people mention and "shoot" it down before I drink the lemonade.
So while I did fail today, I am using this as a learning experience.
I'm going to try again on Sunday.

Well I'm thinking that for my first time around 12 Days in "Lemon Poo Prison" is long enough. I did my TEN and two more for good behaivor. Not having to go to work tomorrow I could probably hang for what was my "new goal" of two weeks, but I'm probably ready.
Took my BP at the store and it was 108/78. Pretty low. I have to be careful whenever I get up from a chair or bend over. Yikes:eek:
At the store I got stuff for my move back into the chewing world. A couple of steaks, a frozen pizza, 1/2 gallon of icecream, some cookies, a loaf of french bread. Just Kidding. I got all good stuff. Oranges, grapefruit, avacado, broc, salad, stuff to make soup, some lentals. I meant to get a cuke but had a senior moment.:(
When I walked back into the house from the store it smelled like old lemons. Yuck. I need to light a stick of incense! My trash day was last Monday so I took the trash out then. My garbage can in the kitchen is empty except for DEAD LEMONS in the bottom. Pretty weird. I need to make some new non lemonie garbage!:)
Tonight if I decide to break my fast tomorrow instead drinking of "old wet barn starw with a bit a grass clippings in it" I'll be taking a few Probiotics. Those little guys will have a nice clean bunch of guts to set up home in.

Just a few more hours till I wrap up on Day 8. I'm so craving some Lou Malnati's pizza right now. I made the mistake of picking up a flyer earlier today and the pizza looked so mouth watering. I'm even curious about trying the so-called "The Natural" pizza from Pizza Hut. Guess I have pizza on the brain.
I'm feeling pretty good otherwise. I definitely am looking forward to the end of Day 10 and anticipating soup next Tuesday. But despite my end game excitement, I'm definitely happy to have been a part of the January cleansing group. I really did need a good jump start to 2009 and nothing is better than a fast for doing so. If nothing else, it shows that anything you put your mind to, you can stick it out.
Good job to everyone...and look at you WayneMane, a week ago you weren't sure you'd make it Day 10 and now you're on 12. Day 3 for me - my second MC.
I'm much more tired this year - I remember it being easier...
I worked from home today - which was actually harder (full refrigerator and roomie cooking).
I think I might have used too big a spoon to measure the salt this morning - butt pee has lasted all day!!
Shivering under a down blanket right now - but still feel pretty good.
I'm a little concerned about the weekend coming up - big bday bash at a restaurant tonight and dancing at a cool new club tomorrow.
I think the urge to have a drink will be harder to handle than the food cravings - but I'm preparing myself now. :p
I'm waiting for that burst of firey energy....

Interesting: I used to think it was the lemonade giving me heart burn. Then last weekend (I'm not cleansing right now) I decided to use LAX tea before bed, an hour later I had heartburn without any lemonade. I wondered about this all week. I'm not sure what to tell you to do. I do know that mine was so bad a few cleanses ago that I couldn't breathe and it felt like what I would imagine a heart attack to feel like. How's that for encouraging you? ;)

Hi everyone!! Today is my first day cleansing, this is my second *attempt* at the MC, although I consider it my first real cleanse. :D
The first time around the detox symptoms were so awful on days 2 & 3 (the worst, I know) I thought I was going to die haha....I'm a college student, and it was the middle of the semester at the time. I ended up laying in bed for two days because I had such strong flu-like symptoms. Yuck. I'm assuming they were just really heavy detox symptoms attributed to my wonderful college kid lifestyle, but I guess I'll never really know.
Anyway, I didn't give up on the whole idea, and am back to try again! I'm on winter break now, so it should be easier to stick with it in case the detox symptoms are strong again. Also, my last attempt proved that I really do need this - I am sick of the unhealthy eating that comes so easily with the student lifestyle....pre-packaged, processed foods, eating out, drinking too much....it's time for a change. I started working out on a regular basis about two weeks ago, so I decided it was the perfect time to do the MC and start off the new year right!
Hello and good luck to everyone!
marsh

RES- hmmm. heartburn from the tea...that's weird. i hadn't thought of that. for some reason, i'm thinking what someone had said last fall was that it was (i'm paraphrasing/guessing) toxins being released, and moving up the stomach then coming up the esophagus..??.. i don't know. after tomorrow i guess it won't matter, and i'll see what happens during my next cleanse. thanks for pondering the issue further with me, tho!

For some reason, I have it in my head that I will be running to the bathroom for poo-visits all day. Someone please tell me this is not the case! I know that the am salt water thingy hastens that along but is it common to go all day long? And if not, why do I think that?? :)
Also, I had gastric bypass surgery 11 years ago and lost a good deal of weight, most of which I've kept off. (Yey me!) I am doing the detox for lots of reasons but mostly because I just feel crappy inside my body and know the sludge needs to go to make room for some good healthy stuff. Anyway, since I have a length of intestine gone from the surgery, any idea as to how or even if that will affect the cleanse?
I'll be hanging out with you all and probably whining my way through. Good to meet everyone!

I hear you! I am on day 6 and I'm feeling the same way. Lost 4-5 bls (varies every day...) and I think I'm pretty cleaned out... nothing more to cleanse. And I'm bored. I think I will start my transition to fruits on day 7 (had a handful of pretzels today and no pain). Def doesn't mean you're a quitter! There's always next time.

I am on day 4 and have already lost 10 lbs... this is verging on shocking, since i was only slightly over my ideal weight b4 starting and well w/in a healthy range. I am about 5'9" and started at 159.6 and am now weighing in at 149.2! i still feel great, and have still had no real cravings, altho buffalo wings did smell GREAT yesterday as i drank my water in a brewery while my friends drank... it is nice that my social life doesn't have to die bc of this, since people know--i just cant let their small-mindedness get to me.
my biggest problem is the unpredictability of bms. i worry about doing swf in morning when i have to go anywhere bc it takes a while for me and i have had um, accidents, in the past! to be avoided if possible!!!
also does anyone have tips for traveling/ staying w friends on this? my life isn't slowing down so i am figuring out how to accommodate it!
<3 and luck!

Hi All, Finishing up day 8 and feeling good. I'm still very cold but I'm less irritable. I'm just today realizing that my rotten attitude since the beginning of this cleanse wasn't anything but a detox symptom. Whatever it was, I pooped it out this morning. Good riddance! I'm doing 10 so I'm nearly finished and remembering how wonderful food tastes after cleansing and how appropriately grateful I am to have it. Can't wait! Peace, A-

Hey, Everyone!!
Can NOT believe this is the eve of Day 9 on my first cleanse!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!
This morning it happened....the nasty, white cottony taste on my tongue is mostly GONE!!! Half of my tongue is a beautiful shade of healthy pink!!!!
AND it seems that all of my skin is has a lovely color of pink as well!! I have a renewed sense of touch like never before. My 54 year old hands are looking a decade younger!! WOW!! I am so HAPPY!!! (another sign of being detoxed!!:D) You gotta love this cleanse!!
I'm actually kinda sad that tomorrow is my last day...
Hey, wilddarling! You're nearing the end as well! I am still cold, too. I find myself drinking the mint tea several times during the day just so I can hold the cup!I'm glad your bad mood is gone! Keep it up!
I fixed food tonight for my sons who are hard at work tiling my bathroom. I really wanted some of their veggie and tilapia! So close to the end, I had to resist!
Keep climbing the beautiful mountain, my beautiful cleansing friends! The view from the top will be worth it all!

Actually the negative about the colonic is that is pushes it all UP first and then some of it down. It can't reach the small intestine. The MC however works from the top DOWN. ;)
It doesn't cleanse the entire digestive tract like the MC does, but it does release TONS of waste.
Yes, I know that quote from the book. He says not to get one during or after the cleanse. I got one before the cleanse. I know from past MCs that the first few days are about releasing bulky waste... well there hasn't been any for me because the colonic got rid of all that. I feel that a colonic (before hand) helps the MC get right to the toxins, rather than have to push all the waste out first.
Just my 2 cents :)

That (Smooth Move with senna) is a tea that many use. That licorice taste gets to be disgusting!! :p If you think it isn't working for you, brew two bags and let it brew for 15 min. It can cause cramps though.

I feel that a colonic (before hand) helps the MC get right to the toxins, rather than have to push all the waste out first.
thatoneguy - You must be a computer guy like me, cause that seems real logical to me. I have never had a colonic but I think I might do the same before I start another MC. I just went Poop and even though I am on Day12 and planning on starting my transition tomorrow, I was amazed at what just came out. Probably partly because of being on tea and tea and forgoing the SWF because of work, but it looked like something I should of let go back on Day3. Wow.
I won't do my next MC and have to go to work. I want to be off so that I don't have to give up the tasty SWF. I feel it is much too important. I started this MC with a cold. I had planned the MC and pushed on through. I'm glad I did, but I won't start one again "sick". To much for the body to be working on with just the Toxins, let alone the dreaded Rhino.
Tnx,

I failed today, but I'm not going to let it get to me.
I've realised what's going to be hard for me throughout this fast.
For one, I HATE the taste of the SWF. Oh my gosh, I think that was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I even used a straw!
Secondly, I didn't like the cayenne pepper so much, either. I'm thinking I'll do what I've seen other people mention and "shoot" it down before I drink the lemonade.
So while I did fail today, I am using this as a learning experience.
I'm going to try again on Sunday.
Any pointers for a noob? lol.
Try drinking the SWF through a straw or some heat it and pretend it's soup.
You can try the SWF as a "Shooter" Drink 8 oz. of plain water first, then mix the two teaspoons of sea salt with 4 oz of water and down that concentrate in a gulp or two. Follow that with 20 oz. of plain water. The 4 oz. concentrate is nasty, but the rest is just water. It's doable if you down the concentrate quickly and immediately follow with the plain water.

Congratulations WayneMan!! Great job on you first MC.

im cranky, cold, and sick of this - i know im being a quitter but i've had enough - i've only lost 5 pounds and its very discouraging - i would rather go 1200 cal a day or less and have some what of a life............. i am also bored of staying home so i don't eat!!!!
grrrrr..............
am i going to get sick if i start eating tomorrow? how bad - what happens?
thanks all - you are all doing soo great!
maybe i'll feel different tomorrow but im cranky and cold i can't stand it anymore!
also thinking maybe of continuing salt water every morning and eat a bit in the afternoon ........ i'm not hungry at all after that......... lol
Hang in there toys4paws. You sound like you're going through a detox time. Everyone gets to feeling like that at times. You could see some major weight loss in the next couple of days. Now isn't the time to throw in the towel. Ride this detox out and it'll be easier, plus your body could make a major breakthrough.

Welcome aboard QueenNoonie. It's a wild group this time and you'll get lots of support.

Hello All:
I'm on day 3 and although I've already experienced relief from some new aches and pains that came on about a month ago, I feel like quitting...go figure? I did the MC about 10 years ago without any desire to deviate or quit, but this time is different so I'm looking for support and a positive way to keep busy.

Usually the SWF is over in a couple of hours. At first you want to stay close to the bathroom because it happens quickly, unexpectedly. As Res has said, You might think it's gas, but think again. After the first couple of hours it's more controllable. Drinking lots of water and lemonade will make you pee often though.

nash.... Certainly making it to 6 days is a great accomplishment. Good job! However, it seems like some folks are overly focused on their BM's and are viewing the MC as a colon cleanse. That IS NOT the primary intent of the MC. The MC is a FULL body cleanse. It's working on the inner parts of the system, not just the colon. The digestive system is scouring the body and cleaning up the toxins everywhere and releasing them into the intestines. Those toxins aren't manifested as major chunks of poo. The reason 10 days is 'magical' is because 10 days allows the digestive system to get the biggest bang for the buck. When you do less than 10 you're going through the hardest part of the cleanse and not reaping the full benefit, and more than 10 quickly enters into diminishing returns.

For those of you wondering, no, I didn't BBQ the cat. He's 18 pounds. There's no way I could eat that much. ;) Instead, I took my crankiness out by vacuuming the house. I'm counting that as today's exercise because these last few days haven't been as energized as the rest.
Anyway, I'm happy to go to bed tonight and say goodbye to Day 12. Hopefully, Day 13 will be better. Only five more days to go!

OK - I am starting D5, MC1. I have taken the Smooth Move tea twice in the evening and both times I have woken up with the worst abdominal cramps. I have tried taking the pshylium husk but I can't seem to drink the entire thing. I have been having no problems with eliminating the first 3 days (although it did slow down yesterday and today). Is there something else that I can substitute or am I ok as long as I continue to eliminate?
Thanks!
Try finding Yogi Tea Get Regular. This tea does not cause the stomach cramps that the smooth move does and works. I quit doing the tea at night because the smooth move gave me such bad cramps. When I found this tea I was so excited. Try it you will be thrilled. I am on day 9 planning on going 17. Today is a great day for me. My husband quit today, he weighed this morning and he was down 13 lbs. He only weigns 144 and is 6'1. He decided he could not afford to loose any more weight. SO he is drinking OJ and planning his soup. I am going to have to check in on the board more often for encouragement.

January 9th, 2009, 10:32 PM
Hi Strata, I drink every one of my lemonades heated, which is probably why I call them lemon teas. I don't have my books handy so I could be totally wrong, but my impression was that the lemon mixture was ideally to be served warm and ideally was to be mixed individually before each serving. Back when Stanley concocted this, clearly life was not as crazy busy as it is today!
These days, people mix a whole day's worth of lemon & MS (cayenne added to each serving) and then head off to work. I live really close to my office so the most I've every mixed is 2 batches worth and I put that in a thermal cup to keep it warm.
The only time I drink it cold is when I'm not on the cleanse. Added to a little vodka on the rocks (I leave out the cayenne here altho it might actually be good)-it makes a great cocktail! :D
hehehe! I like the idea of a little vodka to the mix, yummy! :-) But not until after day 20! :-)

cold again when yesterday I wasn't,
my sinuses are loading up, nose starting to run, and my eyes are feeling the pressure,
not really hungry, but everything I see or smell is appealing,
getting tired of lemonade
feeling a little .....grumpy, testy
Those are all detox symptoms for me.
Think I'll go fix some lax tea and go to bed! Hope for a good SWF to wash everything away tomorrow. :D

Re: The SWF, I do remember reading in Stanley's book that it's great to do even when you're not on the cleanse--but I don't think everyday. It's a maintenance thing, not a means of losing weight.
I was kicking and screaming during the first 3 days of this MC. Suddenly on day 4 it became easier. :o Btw, 5 pounds in 5 days is awesome--and for sure there's more coming off in the next few days!

hello lemon and lime friends! :):D
a few things i have been noticing.
* my neck aches right now too! Res had said something about that). i can remember back when i was out in the real world and eating, it all seems like so long ao...... was i saying something? hmmm.
oh yeah! :p
if i was eating too muck junk i would get a weird neck ache. i think its a toxic thing. so when we are heavily detoxing, the neck and head aches. but in a distinctively different way once you know what it is you recognize it.:D
* i am having some type of tinnitus in my right ear.just a little and has come and gone this cleanse. i notice i get this if i am taking too many motrin or too many anything else pharmaceutical related. so its interesting to have it right now when i havent taken anything (save an aspirin a several days ago for unbearable menstrual cramps) for weeks. and even then i rarely do as i am a sensitive little thing.:o
*also, i suspect that some of what comes out of us in the later days of the cleanse in the form of semi solid floaty oily BM's ( nice huh? :D ) is the waste from the metabolized fat we are using up. what do ya think??:confused: Res- any comment? Today has been a miserable day. Killer headache, nausuea, generally just feeling bad. This was the first day that I had to work outside the home too and it was a loooonnnnngggg day. I didn't drink nearly enough lemonade because of the nausea, and I think that made it worse. Oh yeah, and my tongue, that was almost pink is now whiter than it has been the entire cleanse.

Seems like the taste of the organic lemons are different than meyer. I have since found out that Meyers are a hy-bred of an orange and lemon. I'm not sure if the difference is from peeling the lemon first than putting it through the juicer or the organic lemons vs Meyers. The drink tastes better with the Organic, but I will have to experiment and make a small glass of the Meyer juice.
"The Meyer lemon (Citrus × meyeri) is a citrus fruit, native to China, thought to be a cross between a true lemon and a mandarin orange or sweet orange. " Knowing this what do you think??:confused:
DO NOT USE MEYER LEMONS. USE ONLY REGULAR LEMONS, ORGANIC IF POSSIBLE. BTW, I HAND SQUEEZE MY LEMONS WITH A GLASS JUICER I GOT AT WILLIAM SONOMA, AND IT WORKS JUST FINE.

Today is day 2 on the MC. Yesterday went pretty well. I exercised, drank 7 glasses of lemonade and obsessed about food a little bit. The fasting was a little more difficult than I thought, but I made it through. So far so good today. Drinking the tea at night but waking in the middle of the night around 2:00 with stomach cramps having to eliminate. Did the salt water cleanse at 5:30, it took effect around 6:30 but still not as dramatic as I was anticipating. I eliminated once and I don't think the full 32 ounces. Back to work today. Is it okay to chew gum?:)
I CHEW SUGARLESS GUM AND IT HAS NOT AFFECTED MY SUCCESS ON THE MC. THIS IS MY SECOND MC. THE FIRST TIME I LOST 20 LBS, AND HAVE KEPT IT OFF. I AM CONTINUING TO LOSE ON MY 2ND CLEANSE. ALSO, I MAINLY USE THE GUM TO "BLOCK THE AWFUL AFTERTASTES OF THE SWF AND THE SENNA TEA, BOTH OF WHICH I HATE. HOPE THIS HELPS.

almost the end of day seven. this is the funnest (fun? really?) cleanse because of the board. i think about what i'm missing when i'm at work! but its something to do instead of dinner right now when i get home. hoooray!:p
hang in there everyone. :)
wayneman you! are a rock star!
i water my oj down a little at first when breaking the cleanse. you wont beleive how devine it is!!
sunnyrae.....I'm not sure what you mean by an oily BM. Usually BM's aren't oily like an oil slick laying on top of the water. That would indicate a poorly digested or partially digested meal of fatty food or possible pancreas problems. Even eating a regular meal there is only about 1% fat in the stool. What I'm thinking of probably wouldn't be possible on the MC. Are you referring to a BM that is semi-solid and kind of loosely held together by mucous? snot-like? or kind of frothy?
Fat is metabolized into co2 and water. We eliminate the co2 (carbon dioxide) by exhaling. Ketones are also a byproduct but they are usually eliminated in urine. Toxins which had been stored in the fat are carried to the intestines and they are often irritants that become engulfed in mucous. I suspect that a large consumption of cayenne also irritates the intestinal wall and helps it slough off encrusted matter in mucous too. For greater fat loss (The MC insures that the body must burn fat and therefore the body is trying to produce more waste from the fat and eliminate the toxins.) it is best to be sure to drink lots of water. The kidneys need it and the liver needs it to metabolize the fat. In fact without sufficient water the body will actually store more fat. Furthermore, fat is only burned in a carbohydrate (sugar) fire. So drink up those lemonades and extra water. As a side note, it seems the body uses COOL water better than warm water. I wouldn't heat the lemonade.

SWF2go- i just knew i"d get the skinny from you! (punn intended :D)
thank you so much for that info. sooooo interesting to get the breakdown. you were right on the semi solid loosly held together mucus description.
it was the mucus i should have used as my descriptive.

It's the start of Day 9 and I'm doing fine. :D
I'm getting a late start today on the SWF. I just finished downing the drink and am patiently waiting for the results. My smooth move actually did work a bit this morning so I took care of that before drinking the SW. Thankfully I only have a couple errands to do today, nothing too pressing today.

DAY 13 - I did the smooth move instead of the regular plain senna tea last night and ended up sleeping in until 7:30 with no BM until I did the SWF - that's the first time that's happened since I started this MC. I'm down 11 pounds now, obviously less than I'd hoped for, but I'm still happy. I look thinner, which rocks, and I feel good in my clothes, which is paramount. I hope today is one of those high energy days because I have a lot to accomplish. Also, I think the pink is slowly returning to my tongue. Woohoo! Four more days to go!

Hey swf2go, I'm so glad you brought up the subject of warm lemonade vs cool. I was planning to bring it up myself while I was warming (not boiling) the water for my swf this morning! I have absolutely no scientific basis for thinking this, but I feel warm cleanses better than cool. Warm water loosens dirt and melts fat so it can be rinsed away on dishes, laundry and ourselves. If I remember correctly, Stanley's book recommends warming the water for the lemonade and for the swf--can someone verify that for me?? I leant my books to someone and do not have them handy to reference, so I could be wrong in thinking that.
It seems like a good number of fellow MC-ers are using cool for both the lemonade, which I can understand for practical reasons of transporting large quantities, but also for the swf. If it turns out I AM mistaken, I don't know if I could switch to cool at this point! Both MC's I've used warm and never experienced the "coldies."
Anyway, today is MC2 D9 for me! Yesterday I incorrectly said it was day 7. The last 4 days have been pretty smooth sailing compared to the beginning. Got up at 6AM to hit the bathroom and I have an appointment at 9. Yikes it's already 7:50!! Will I be able to get through the swf, shower, get through the swf, do my hair, get through the swf & make tea for the road in like, the next 45 minutes!!!!!!???????? Oh-oh.

OK, more than half way!!!!! I do have to say that this board has kept me going! You guys are great! This time has been hard for me. My husband had to stop because of surgery and I have been sick with a sinus cold. But I am still here because of YOU! I have a question about probiotics. Is it necessary to take them at the end of the cleanse? I didn't last time. And if so what kind? There are so many different kinds!

Just got my hands on the book and still in the preparation stage of buying supplies. Everyone in my office is starting and I'm looking forward to it.
My big concern is that I have just gotten my caffine intake down to one large coffee and one diet coke per day. I know that on day 3 or 5 of any cleanse I have done previously, I really suffer with migraines.
Any suggestions on improving the transition?

I'm on the fifth day of my first MC and I intend to do a full ten day cycle. I've benefited greatly from many of the posts on here (except the ones about delicious, wonderful food) so I thought I should add some value, if possible.
At 46 years old, 6' tall and 235 lbs, I didn't do the cleanse to lose weight. I recently returned from a trip to the Indian interior with a nasty case of dysentery. After two weeks incapacitated, I recovered well but never made it back to full sail. Since I was all around the nasty parts of India - and in many similarly unsanitary places around the globe in my life - I thought it was a good idea to try the Master Cleanse. After reading a bit and hearing about it from my nutritionist, it seemed like a good way to assure no lingering problems are hanging on in my insides.
Having said that, losing some of my weight would be a nice bonus. I'm not weighing myself so I'm not sure of my loss so far, but I think I've lost 5lbs or so. I eat pretty healthy, especially after the dysentery, and I intend to continue this course after the cleanse. When this is over I'll adjust my diet even more to try to keep the bonus weight loss real. I'm thinking more fish - why not, I live on a tug boat.
I guess I'm not like all the other MCers - the SWF has not flushed for me. In fact, until I read these threads I was concerned that the MC is not working and all my time and effort is being wasted. After reading - and joining - I upped my salt a bit and warmed the SWF more. I'm hoping it works as advertised today. Until now, I've just retained the SWF and voided it later.
I am not a truly active man; I get out and about, but I rarely exercise. I live on the ocean and spend much of my time at sea, so I do get my heart rate up now and again. For several years I did yoga a few times a week, but I stopped after a small injury a few years ago. Today, I'll go do yoga for the first time - on the beach - with my favorite instructor. I'm not sure if its the small boost in energy I've earned from the MC, or because I really want this to work, but I'm glad to feel motivated.
My BMs are unremarkable (that's from my new book: DOOMED PICKUP LINES). I have divurticulosis and suffer from IBS, so I have occasional diarrhea. With this in mind, it hasn't really been terrible during the MC. Now I seem to be at that mucous phase, which tends to feel a lot like diarrhea - I think it is important to note that this is NOT diarrhea. Take it from an expert.
Like many, I get cramps from the nightly senna tea - but not terribly bad. I've gotten up in the early morning hours to eliminate since day two. I eliminate twice a day - once heavily, once lightly, and urinate probably 7-10 times. And, as I said, the SWF has not worked yet.
For now, I am following the MC instructions to the letter and I've not backslid with food or snacks. I hope to stay that way and wish you all strength and willpower in your process, too. I'm choking down my saltier, warmer SWF now hoping I can see the expected outcome for the first time on day 5. I am back to lurking and learning. Best wishes to all of you for good health.

Oh if I had a dollar for every person who admits this in a thread. ;)

You are so right! Thank-you! I will read this one every time I think about quitting!:D

Day 10! I have to admit, I am so happy it's almost over. Day 8 was good. Day 9 was pretty tough for me. I was feeling very lethargic, irritable, foggy and hungry when I went to bed. Probably a few more toxins. I was weaning myself off of a medication during the cleanse and stopped completely day 6. Probably why day 9 was so difficult. I was afraid to quit cold turkey day 1.:( But today is a great day! I know I can make it. Will attempt a very light work out, sit in the steam room and go to Whole Foods! I can't wait to go food shopping :) even if it's for oranges and maybe some apples and bananas. It seems like orange juice is a strong and acidic juice to come off of the cleanse with, but I'll go for it! Good luck everyone!:D

Keep going strong everyone! WE are all doing great!:D Hi JNP. I've done the probiotics after all my cleanses mostly because while cleansing we get rid of good and bad bacteria and the probiotics bring the good ones back into your system. I take my first one the second day of post cleanse. I also started drinking a daily glass of kefir milk to try to keep my good bacteria counts up. As for the kind of probiotic to use, I use the Daily-Dolphus brand that's advertised on this website. But I get mine at Whole Foods.

Day 9 almost done and I'm back in the game. I feel so much better today with the MC and am glad I stuck it out. A few days to go and thinking of extending it. ~Stephanie
I wish we had an award for every person who says this. :)
I'm doing 10 so I'm nearly finished and remembering how wonderful food tastes after cleansing and how appropriately grateful I am to have it. Wilddarling
Oooh I want to hug everyone who says this. Isn't it the truth? If all we take away from our cleanse is this truth about how good we really do have it then that would be enough. There's almost a sacredness about eating now. You've done a great job! :D
I'm actually kinda sad that tomorrow is my last day...
Sheila I always look forward to hearing this and so many people say the same thing. :)
An "After the Cleanse Thread???" LOLOLOL!!!! You have got to be kidding. So this short-term addiciton to posting is in danger of become long-term...

Hi, I'm on Day 1, but I have a cold, so I'm unsure as to whether or not I should start today. Also, I'm a teacher and I know that the restroom and I are going to battle it out these next few days :( since this is my first cleanse ever.
I'm wondering how often you think I'll be running off to the potty?? I do have a restroom next door to my classroom, but I'm not able to just run off and leave my students alone. Any advice on this?? Should I take the SWF at a certain time to promote the eliminations earlier or is there a better way to do this?
Also, how much lemonade should I make in a day to be able to take to work? I know it's mentioned in the book to prepare as much as possible freshly, but I have to take quite a bits worth with me to work pre-made.
Thanks for the help!! I'm very excited to begin this! :)

OK - So I joined the January 2009 group today! This is my 3rd cleanse. The first two were 10 days, and I want to go for 20 this time! I'm excited and already so glad to have so many other folks on board at the same time. We all need each other!
I want to say my goals "out loud" so, here they are....
1. Stop taking food for granted and realize how fortunate I am to have it at my disposal
2. After the fast, enjoy every morsel of food to its fullest and eat only when truly hungry (not stress eating and mindless eating)
3. Get rid of toxins that I know are in my system.
4. See an improvement in my skin, eyesight, and various aches and pains throughout my body.
5. During my 20-day fast I'm hoping to drop 15 pounds.
6. After the fast, I'd like to continue my weight loss until losing 20-25 pounds total by May, and then keeping it off
7. Keep busy during the fast so I don't focus so much on what day I'm on.
8. Continue my normal exercise routine (walking, yoga, swimming) during the fast.
9. Give encouragement to others on this board, as well as ask for help and encouragement when needed.
10. Make it to 20 days!
Time to read through some posts to get in the groove....

and i totally agree with all of res's most recent quotes. i pushed through the hard days, look forward to the sacred act of eating again, and savoring the enhanced flavor of simple , healthy foods, and definitely have bittersweet feelings that today is my last day. i love the fasting space, and am already planning my next cleanse!
now, that being said, i'm going to the store today to get my oranges and soup stuff!! (i've been planning this soup for days now...!!) i get to eat again!! and have "normal," predictable poops!! and sleep without waking up with cramps that call me to the bathroom!! yay!!

You really do want to use the "probiotics". You need to replace the good bacteria in your gut that was diminshed by the cleanse. There are a lot of good brands out there. The one I use is "Primal Defense Ultra" from iherb.com (http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=7782). If you use this code RIS329 they'll give you $5 off your first order. :)
p.s. They are the fastest online company I've ever ordered from. Usually my order arrives in 2 days.

MC2 D9...today is not starting out so hot....
I woke up with really bad menstrual cramps this morning and am just feeling absolutely drained. If anything else leaves my body I feel like I might just keel over:(. But I know this means I am detoxing, so I will keep pushing through. I would love to take a couple advil for these cramps though...
Well 9lbs down....5 days left to go after today...so I am getting there...
My clothes are super loose on me now so that is keeping me motivated. Maybe I should go try on some of my jeans I haven't worn in a while:rolleyes:.
I do have a question though: Does anyone have any suggestions for some yummy but healthy cookbooks I can pick up for after the cleanse? I plan on weaning myself off right (oj/grapefruit juice, veggie soup and salad), but I do not plan on eating only raw foods in the future. I would like my future diet to consist mainly of fruits & veggies, lean protiesn (chicken & turkey), and whole grains. I get pretty bored on the weekends on the MC cause I can't go out to eat, out for drinks, etc...so I thought a trip to Barnes & Noble to look at cookbooks might change things up a bit...
Thanks all!

Day 10. Going another week or 2 to lose more weight.
Down 8lbs. I'm starting to think I'm losing muscle more than fat and fluid retention. 8lbs and my jeans are still tight. And I buy a 30lb bag of cat litter every month. For the first time, I struggled to get it up the stairs!
Currently nauseous from the SWF. Probably because I had to skip it yesterday and didn't have any bms.Still have a depressed, blah feeling. Went to the casino last night. it was just nice being somewhere where food wasn't the main objective. There were lots of food smells when I walked by a few resteraunts but it wasn't anything that would normally appeal to me anyway..like asian food and fast food. Yuck. I lost $40 but oh well. If I was eating, it probably would've been $40 on junk food cravings. And it took my mind off that blah feeling but it was back when I got home.

Hi Michalr!! I love it when the lurkers peek out for a moment. :)
I'm no expert but I wonder if the SWF works quicker for smaller people. I could be killing my own theory here because I'm small boned and I've retained the swf once or twice as well. But generally it works too well for me. Considering that bigger people have more of a ways for the swf to travel I'm guessing that might be the case but I'm not sure. I've never heard of anyone who the swf "never" works for. It eventually kicks in.
Burroughs says to up the salt in increments. I believe 3 tsp should be the limit and that's just to kick start it. Once it begins to work go back to 2 teaspoons. I have a buddy who it took 6 days before she even eliminated but when she did it was "bombs away". ;)
Stay in touch with us and keep us posted on how you're doing. :)

Would you consider sharing the recipe for your cheesecake? I sounds so yummy!!
ABSOLUTELY!
Recipe for raw pumpkin cheesecake
Makes one 9 inch cheesecake
Candied Pecan Crust
4 1/2 cups raw pecans
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
2 tablespoons coconut oil
1/2 cup dates, pitted and soaked for 20-30 minutes.
Place pecans in food processor and pulse until the pecans break down into crumb form (do not over process) ; place crumbs in a bowl and set aside.
Blend remaining ingredients in a blender until smooth and add to pecan crumbs; mix together with hands until well combined.
Line a 9 inch pie or tart pan with plastic wrap (you can omit this step if you want) and press the crust into the bottom and sides of the pan in a thin, even layer.
Optional : place crust in a dehydrator at 118 degrees for 8-10 hours. ( I HIGHLY recommend you do this, I did and everyone raved about the crust and how crunchy it was!)
Chill crust in freezer for a at least 30 minutes or until ready to fill.
Filling
3 cups raw cashews, soaked for 1-2 hours
1 cup raw agave nectar
1 cup extra virgin coconut oil
1 1/4 cup fresh carrot juice
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
3 teaspoons cinnamon
3 teaspoons nutmeg
Blend all ingredients in a high speed blender (vitamix is the best) until very smooth. Fill the candied pecan crust and chill in the freezer 3-4 hours. Store in the freezer for up to 1 month.
When ready to serve, remove cheesecake from pan and plastic wrap, cut into 12 even slices, and let thaw in refridgerator for 1 hour.
It has NO pumpkin in it but no one will ever know! It is one of the best desserts I have ever had in my life! I can't wait till my cleanse is over so I can make it again!
If you know you are going to eat it daily (like I did), once you have sufficiently chilled it in the freezer you can just put it in your fridge and keep it covered with plastic wrap.
If you have any questions on it just let me know,
xoxo

Nah. I don't have a small-boned petite type body and some days the SWF works 20 minutes after drinking it.
You really have to keep messing around with different salts and even measuring spoons. My last cleanse the SWF was NOT working for me. It worked when I changed measuring spoons. LOL Seriously, and both were 1tsp but shaped different. I've also noticed differences with whether the salt is rounded or leveled on the spoon. I've always noticed slightly MORE is better. The difference is it might work slower though but it DOES work. I've had days where I've used to much salt and hours will pass by and I'd run to the bathroom. It's a less intense urge though and you can hold it a bit longer at least.
Some people use Celtic Sea Salt.. I always had a problem with that brand. Plus, it's too expensive to be using as a colon cleanser. I buy the "Lima" brand sea salt from Whole Foods. Comes in a bag that is less attractive than Celtic and it's only $2.99. Some sea salts also have anti-caking ingredients added which can effect the flush.
Another trick I learned with the SWFS - Ever hear that our "natural" position do do #2 is to squat? Babies do this naturally.. ever see a baby/toddler stand and crouch down/squatting as they push? Bodybuilders call it "laying an egg" because they'll squat with weights and a turd will pop out. LOL But yeah.. I found that if you put your feet on the wall or on a crate/box so your knees are bent up towards your chest... The SWF passes easier and it's more cleaner. I hate when after a good swoosh of the flush passes and you're pushing out air to get the last few drops out. When your knees are up, everything is umm wide open and comes right out and you're not pushing out air. LOL.

Hey all!
Day 6 for me! WOOHOO! I am excited to think my first week is almost over! So far I have found that during this week, 3 separate nights I have dreamt that I am eating during my cleanse. Of course I wake up and realize I didn't cheat but I swear it kind of helps because I get to taste the food in my dreams without it counting! LOL.
UM... I was in the kitchen this morning (after I had done my SWF earlier) preparing my lemonade before I left the house. Standing at the sink and I passed gas for a moment. No big deal (or so I thought) until I went to the bathroom and saw the stuff in my underpants.... WTF?? Oh my god...
I about died.... Thank god I was home and I could go change them. Needless to say I grabbed an extra pair to throw in my purse for any emergencies that may crop up...

also, i suspect that some of what comes out of us in the later days of the cleanse in the form of semi solid floaty oily BM's ( nice huh? :D ) is the waste from the metabolized fat we are using up. what do ya think??
The waste on the walls of the colon comes off in layers. There's a clogged pipe picture posted in this thread. The LAX tea softens the top layer the swf moves it out. This keeps going. I've read that feces can be stuck to the colon wall for years.....yeah years. One of my buddies was on Day 52 and was still passing some solids. She didn't have a healthy diet.
Water can pass successfully through a clogged pipe. It eventually and slowly through erosion can move some of the stuff off the top. But that's where Drano comes in. It's purpose is to dissolve the stuff stuck on/in the pipe. Hence the LAX tea, swf and solids periodically. I hope that helps. :)

MC1 -Transition Time:D Day1
Hi Everyone in Poo Prison,
I'm free, I'm free, I'm free at last.
I've had some OJ (yum) some more of my favorite probiotics Dr. Ohhira's. Dr. lichiroh Ohhira, is an award-winning microbiologist from Japan. It doesn't do you any good to take a product that says Probiotic if all the little guys in there are DEAD. Dr. O's are alive, there alive, I tell you!!! I'm now drinking a cup of wonderful Silver Needle White Tea. It used to be called the "Emperor's Tea". Next up on the agenda, Pancakes. Just kidding.
Like you said Meedis, a week ago I didn't think I could make it. With all of you guys/gals help I'm glad I pushed on. I ended this down 22 lbs for my 12 days, pretty good, but of course I had pleanty of lard to dump. Still do. Part of the reason I did this was for a new focus on eating well. If I do that and work at not trying toSuper Size Me, I'll continue to do better.
Thanks you, Lin, KP, Vally, Mrs. Williams, SunnyRae for all your Congrats!
SunnyRae - I got what you were talking about with the OILY poo. Looked oily to me.. but SWF2go's SNOT summed it up pretty good too. I do think it could be some of the toxins and fat coming out? Who knows maybe we're all just full of S&*%*&. :p Still is amazing to me.
I'll be on the BB for a bit while I transition, then , like Res says, we gotta talk about food. I've been on this BB for two weeks and I'm kinda addicted. ...and I still need to tell you all my story of the Four Stages of Poo.
See ya for now,

Who knows? I could be president VERY soon here.... I still have a lot of time left on my cleanse.
I lost weight on my 1st cleanse in sept 08 and after that I was completely raw and continued to lose weight so YES, you can keep the weight off IF you make the right food choices. So many people out there put down this cleanse and say that the weight will all come back on but it is all up to you and what you choose to eat after it.
Congratulations on your weight loss! that is awesome! I found that the first time I did the cleanse it broke me of
1) chewing gum
2) snacking all day in between meal
3) being too addicted to food.
after that , all I wanted to do was eat healthy because I spent 21 days ridding my body of toxins so I didn't want to put them back in or gain weight. Plus, I am totally satisfied on the gourmet raw food so I don't crave the SAD anymore.

Hello, well today is day 5 and i must say I'm hungry. I feel dizzy and grumpy. I don't know if I can make it. I have thought about food more on this cleanse then the one i did before. I could use some encouragement. Oh, one more thing...I had a dream that I cheated and ate a piece of cheese. Of all things to eat, why cheese??? I think I'm having a harder time because of the time of year it is...make since? My brain is not firing right either.:(

Hey Res thanks for the kind words. I followed the advice of several posters here and my SWF worked like a charm today. I even ran a bit late for my yoga class trying to be sure it passed, but no worries. I feel pretty good and, since the class was out on the beach, I am energized.
Day 5 and still in the game. To anyone else at my same stage, and struggling - Keep at it! Do some exercise - get some fresh air. And if your SWF hasn't worked yet, up the salt and warmth of the concoction and chugalug. My whole attitude has changed since my flushed properly; maybe yours will too.
Another thing I find that is helping me: I am using a body brush in the shower, focused on brushing off all the cleanse-related epidermal waste. It energizes me and I think it helps the process along in some way. It sure feels like it.

YOU CAN DO THIS! I have had several dreams that I cheated and ate, at least in your dream you get to taste food. lol. Some days are worse than others. Just remember that this is a detox symptom and it will pass eventually, normally with the next elimination. I am craving food more this time but healthy stuff, I miss my salads and my fruit. But that's ok. I know when it's over they will be there.
What you are doing is so good for you and for your body. Keep on going, you will be so glad you did!

Oh-oh.
Some studies have shown that COOL water is taken into the system better than warm water. Once in the system water helps everything!! Cells can function (breathe, release energy, reproduce, grow, release waste, interact with other cells and hormones, etc.) at their optimum. Water is the medium where everything in our bodies live. When we are dehydrated (and most of us are most of the time) it's like our fresh water flow is dirty or muddy and full of waste. It just can't work as well. Muscle cells are 70% water. Fat cells are 25% water. For the metabolism (the burning) of fat it is essential to have maximum water in the system.
I agree that hot water cleans a greasy pot better than cold water. But, that isn't what we are doing when the body "burns" fat. Burning fat is a complex enzymatic process that needs water. Fat cells are like balloon warehouses that store fat. As more fat is stored, the balloon gets bigger and bigger. As we burn fat, enzymes open the balloon and empty the contents for use as energy in the cells. Unfortunately we don't lose the fat cell. It just emaciates as it empties. The most important thing is that we have plenty of water in the system to help with the fat "burning" process.
The temperature of the water we ingest doesn't have much to do with the temperature of the water of the enzymatic process of metabolizing (burning) fat. The body heats or cools the water once it is in the system. Fat 'burning' is not about washing a greasy pot. An enema on the other hand is more similar to dish washing. I would think warm water would loosen stuff better than cold. I wouldn't recommend adding dish soap though. Wow talk about frothy poo!! :D:D I drink the COOL water (room temperature) in the lemonade because it gets into the system better for better hydration.
The idea of the SWF is that it PASSES through and washes the intestines of toxins that are deposited there from the metabolizing the fat. So if you want to heat it, then fine. You're not trying to use that water in the blood system. By the time it gets to the intestines it is body temp anyway. Heating the lemonade probably doesn't make that much difference in water absorption as long as you are getting plenty of water. It can affect the enzymes and vitamin C in the lemons, but that depends on how hot the water is.
When all is said and done (and I'm sure this is more ALL than you ever wanted, sorry 'bout that) I think heating or not heating the water is just a matter of personal taste. Just be sure you are getting plenty of water, either through lemonades or extra water. Remember, fat metabolism isn't like washing dishes. For an enema use warm water.8)

Any suggestions on improving the transition?
ontheglen...... Suggestion??...Lay off coffee AND diet soda. The stuff in the diet drink is probably worse than the coffee. Drink LOTS of water and it should help flush the body.

Hi JNP.
Thank-you sooo much! I will try it!:o

If you can give yourself a 1-2 hour window in the morning before you leave for school that would be the best time to do the SWF. Maybe do it as soon as you wake up and then hopefully you will have it all out before you leave. I have a 7 hour window when I am at work and I bring 3 drinks with me. But I drink one right before I leave and one right when I get home. Plus I have already had 3 before I goto work. So I guess I drink any where from 6-8 drinks a day. And a lot of water:D
I hope that helps!
GOOD LUCK! We are all here for you!:D

Time to read through some posts to get in the groove....
colibrimhs ... Those are absolutely great goals. We'll be rooting for you. We could all learn to be more thankful for all God has given to us.

MC 1, D 4 - To be honest, it has been surprisingly easy, not sure why, but not going to question it. Energy is regular, appetite is satiated, have yet to experience really any detox symptoms, at least the bad ones..though no big results yet, still early. Glad this board is here, for if and when that detox comes...I am expecting it....thanks in advance for any future words of wisdsom I may come looking for...happy cleansing!

I love all of your goals! FANTASTIC!
I totally agree with appreciating the fact that we can eat whenever we want and stop taking food for granted, not eating when we aren't hungry! (I have that issue)
I lost 15 lbs on my first cleanse and I did it for 21 days. It is doable! And you can continue to lose weight if you eat right afterwards!

Ah, day 6...over the hump, more than halfway done. I'm doing great and so is my husband. I don't have the energy levels I'd like, but that's to be expected. It gives my body the chance to heal and rest, which is what it needs right now. I'm sleeping better now and that's good. Took a long walk on the beach this morning, watching the waves crash at high tide. Life is good.
I took an inventory of all my spices and jars, and did some cleaning and making a shopping list...now my whole house smells like spices :p which isn't bad at all. I thought it'd bother me but it smells good. I don't crave anything in particular, but am now beginning to plan my meals and cooking and how I will eat better after the cleanse. Many more fruits and veggies.
Enjoy the weekend!!! Rest and relax, your body will thank you. Happy cleansing :)

Greetings fellow lemon heads. This is MC2 D4 for me. I failed miserably last time making it only 5 days because I wasn't prepared or committed. This is my first posting but I have been reading along. Finally I felt so guilty to be reaping the benefits of this board and not making a contribution, so here I am. Well, also, I am having a bad day and need help. Thanks to all of you. Whenever I have a weak moment I sign on and get inspired. Days 1 through 3 were very good, except for SWF on day one when I used a tablespoon to measure instead of a teaspoon, so I had tidal waves coming out of both ends. But I got over that pretty quickly and held fast in my determination (no pun intended!). Otherwise those days I had a sense of euphoria and felt a balance coming on. I got calmer and more grounded. They were excellent days.
I have having a very, very lethargic experience today. Woke up and felt great actually after a relatively good night of sleep (except for the 3am cramps). SWF went well, felt like I was getting into a nice routine. Then after running some errands I hit a huge wall. For the first time I had these tiny little doubts hit me about whether or not I could actually make it. I want to go 10 at a minimum, and 21 if I get into a groove and my body tells me it makes sense.
Question. What can I do for more energy? I am drinking 6 glasses a day, does it help to increase the amount? Or do I just take a nap and hope it passes? A bath perhaps? Any advice is most welcome. My body feels weak and it's making my mind weak as well. Please help!

Res ..... at first I couldn't find them on that link.... thinking they had been discontinued. Have you tried any of the Swanson probiotics? This one (http://www.swansonvitamins.com/SWL008/ItemDetail?n=4294967190) doles out 60 billion in one capsule instead of taking 3/day of the others and they aren't quite as pricey. There's just so many probiotics out there it's overwhelming. Shoot! It's more fun to have a beer or a glass of wine. :)

Hi Mev -
I have not experienced that, so my only piece of advice is to make sure you are using the correct measurements - 2 teaspoons (not tablespoons) of salt in 1qt. (4 cups) of water....and get it down as fast as you can (like in a couple of minutes). I personally don't drink the lemonade or any water after the SWF for at least an hour or so, so as to not mess with the exact salt water mix.
Hope this helps!

RunningBlind..... It certainly can feel like you are loosing strength. However, it is very unlikely that you are loosing that much muscle mass. It is water loss that mostly affects our performance. Just a 2% loss can majorly affect an athlete's ability to perform. Athletic events like carrying cat litter up the stairs :) At 5% water loss one becomes groggy, nauseous. At 10% muscles spasm, vision is blurred and there is delirium. Over 15% is fatal. Obviously on the MC we are taking in water, but we're also using a LOT. The SWF just passes through and often pulls water with it. It takes water to make mucous (in the BM and nasal congestion) Metabolizing fat requires water too. Toxins are released in the pee too. Gone to the bathroom lately? What came out? WATER!! We are using and losing lots of water on the MC and that is what makes us feel weak. Headaches and for that matter hangovers are often caused by a lack of water in the circulatory system. So keep drinking and try to stay hydrated and you will not experience as much of a strength loss on the cleanse.

Anyone else have that happen?
Lynda
Probably all of us have at one time or another. Why do you think Res says take an extra pair of SOCKS to work? LOL

Hi again - starting MC Monday and went to Whole Foods to buy my supplies. YOWZA! That maple syrup is not cheap. I bought a jug of Grade B (365 brand), 2 things of sea salt, 1 thing of cayenne pepper and 1 box of Yogi "get moving" tea (they didn't have SM). I plan on getting up at 530, doing the SWF and waiting around until the fun has passed and then going into work at 7:45. Is that enough time for things to "move along" you think?
It's really nice to read where everyone is in their journey and read all the suggestions and good wishes. I know I will be needing some support as I go through it but I am expecting that whatever happens will be for my highest path and purpose and I will ride the waves.
My goal is 10 days but if I feel good about continuing, I will do that. Thanks for all the inspiration and warm wishes on here. :)

Hi Mev -
I have not experienced that, so my only piece of advice is to make sure you are using the correct measurements - 2 teaspoons (not tablespoons) of salt in 1qt. (4 cups) of water....and get it down as fast as you can (like in a couple of minutes). I personally don't drink the lemonade or any water after the SWF for at least an hour or so, so as to not mess with the exact salt water mix.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the advise, concerning the measurement.......but i have followed the measurement to a T. Done everything the book said.....that why i puzzled:confused:......just don't know why i'm retaining this fluid. Maybe there are some who cant handle all of that salt. Do you think i'm not getting enough plain water?
Thanks Mev

Res.... I've always had trouble with this "water pipe" analogy. Obviously there is still 'stuff' (chunks, pieces, feces) coming out of our colon even after a long fast. It has to be feces that has been in the intestines, but the clogged pipe is confusing for me. The function of the intestines is NOT just an exit tube. Intestines pass nutrients, water and waste through the walls to and from the circulatory system. If the intestines are caked with layers of feces it would be largely impossible to pass water and nutrients through the walls. Maybe the layered pipe analogy works if we think of it as in just happening in portions of the intestine. The greater number of portions layered, the worse the individual's health. Just thinking "out loud" here. What do you think?

Hello, well today is day 5 and i must say I'm hungry. I feel dizzy and grumpy. I don't know if I can make it. I have thought about food more on this cleanse then the one i did before. I could use some encouragement. Oh, one more thing...I had a dream that I cheated and ate a piece of cheese. Of all things to eat, why cheese??? I think I'm having a harder time because of the time of year it is...make since? My brain is not firing right either.:(
pvandale.... I had a rough time yesterday too. I wasn't hungry but was craving just about everything.... just had the munchies. I quickly skim-read over the posts here that were talking about food and recipes. (Seemed like more than usual. :o) Last night I also dreamed I ate all kinds of crap. After each eating I was really disappointed with myself for having "cheated or caved in." It was all detox!! "Ah, but today I had a good SWF.... recognizing the detox I set up my SWF with 48 oz instead of the usual 32. And, I've make sure to drink a lot today. Well, the 48 oz. SWF worked well!! :D ( I would NOT recommend it every day) and amazingly even with the extra water I'm not peeing any more than usual. Hang in there. You can do it. You're probably just going through a detox phase and it'll pass....uhh! pun not initially intended, but recognized. :)

Hope everyone is doing well today.
I'm freezing, but otherwise feel well today. I'm starting to feel that it's about time to end my cleanse. I'll make that choice tomorrow. I promised myself 2 weeks and tomorrow will fulfill that.
I'm really wanting to go buy grapefruits!!

Hi to all the master cleansers, i'm new.....this is my first post.......this is my first cleasne, i'm on day 6........i plan on going for 10 days...the first five days was not too bad, but i have a problem:(......i think the SWF is making me retain fluid.....my stomach, legs and ankles are kind of swollen. Has anyone experience this before? Do i need to continue the SWF? I don't want all of this fluid on me.
Thanks Mev
Mev,
If you're previous diet didn't contain a sufficient volume of water, you're body is probably adjusting to all the fluids.
The minimum recommended water intake PER DAY is 1/2 your body weight in ounces. PLUS you have to replace, oz. per oz. every caffiented beverage you put in your body.
So, for me, currently weighing in at 194 (AAGH!!), my minimum water intake is 97 oz./day. If I have a 12 oz cup of coffee, then I must drink an additional 12 oz. of water because the caffiene sucks the water right out of you.
I've gone through periods of not drinking enough water. When I start back on the 1/2 body weight regime, I usually spend the 1st three days in the potty - It can take that long (for me) for the kidneys to adapt to the volume of fluid.
I suspect your body is just adapting - hang in there - it will work it's way out.

WooHoo!!! This is the end of DAY 10 for me!!! I made it!!! I normally ate 50-75% raw, didn't drink caffeine, exercised and didn't have any food cravings, so the MC wasn't all that bad. I did think about food a lot, though.
I'm somewhat disappointed that I didn't experience any toxic symptoms (other than a little warm poo), nor did I experience any euphoric feelings or mental clarity. I lost 8 lbs and would have rather lost 12. But I know the cleanse did clean me out some, released toxins, and I completed a challenge of not eating solid food for 10 days.
I treated myself to a facial today to remove the dead skin from my face, and I'm getting a massage next week. :)
I did find this article in Consumer Reports On Health newsletter, June 2008 issue, and I might try chewing gum as I come off the cleanse: "Research shows that after abdominal surgery, chewing gum for one hour, 3 times a day, signifcantly hastens the resumption of normal bowel function... Eating and drinking are also effective, but can cause nausea... Chewing gum doesn't put as much in your system if you're not ready for it, yet it might help stimulate intestinal activity....gum chewers who had undergone conventional large-incision surgery moved their bowels 26 hours earlier than other patients... chewing gum also relieves heartburn... Chewing gum stimulates the production of saliva, which neutralizes acid in the esophagus. It has the same effect as an antacid."
I'm going to be very careful coming off the cleanse, because I've read lots of the forum articles about coming off too fast and getting nausious. I'm still dreaming of my fresh, homemade guacamole, but it'll probably be on day 3.
I would like to thank Res for all her advice and everyone else for writing in. I read the forums in place of the time I would have spent cooking or eating. Thanks for the laughs, Wayneman.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU THANK YOU for offering a free forum (less the cost of Peter's book ;)) I had receive offers to PAY between $400 and $700 for internet councelling, email answers, and in one instance a couple of CD's to watch. Everyone on this board helped me through this. For free.

I'm on day 9 of MC4. My goal is the entire 40 days. I've done that in the past and, like I've read from Peter, you do experience more than just a physical cleanse.
Regardless, I'm pretty sure I'll need at least 40 days to map out a food plan for going forward. I am addicted to all the foods you shouldn't eat - fried, white flour, dairy, meat......
I'm open to all the advice I can get for growing beyond the SAD.

Hi Eveyone,
I am on day 5 and doing great. I feel so good. I feel like I am running on 75 percent other then 30 percent like I have been. This is my first time doing the MC. I talked my mom it to do the MC with me and she is on day 1.
I did not swf this morning and after 45 mins of having it down and It was not hard getting it down. I throw it up, but not after I had a few eliminations. I was just wondering if this is normal?
Thanks
Healthydreamer:D
Well, I have to admit it is 'normal' for the SWF to sometimes make me a little nauseous. It isn't the expected norm to throw it back up, but a lot of people on this board have. So, I guess you aren't abnormal :) One of the "tricks" I've recently used is to do the SWF as a 'shooter.' First thing in the morning drink some water, then drink a 4 oz concentrate of the water and 2 TEAspoons of sea salt, and finish it off with the rest of the water. Down the concentrate quickly and then the rest is just plain drinking water. Hope it works for you.

It is my second day. Yesterday my first day was uneventful, I followed the program exactly as written. At 11:00 last night I threw up and continued every hour on the hour until 4:00 . I have had a headache that has moved all over my head. I get migraines but nothing like that. Now it has settled in my eyes. I have slept most of the day. I tried to do the SWF this morning but it came right back up. I have only gotten a couple of lemonades down. So is this extreme or normal. I know I have alot of toxins, I had cancer 5 years ago and radiation therapy. I am addicted to coffee and don't eat that great. I try to eat organic. Anyway if I have a night tonight like last night I don't think I will be able to hang in there to day 3. Any suggestions?
All are appreciated. Thank You for any ideas.

Drink more lemonade for more energy and drink more water too. You're drinking the bare minimum of lemonade with only 6, and more would help with the low energy feelings. And, believe it or not the extra water is IMPORTANT for energy, fat loss and toxin removal. Keep going strong. You can make the 10 days this time and they guys and gals here will help you.

I, too, was very discouraged on Day 5...not much weight loss...tired of pooping at 4 a.m....just plain tired...(yea, I know, detox symptom...:)) I am SO glad I kept on. For me the first 5 days were pretty challenging. So, all you Day Fivers, keep it up! gourd4me, Congrats on making it to Day 10. I'm right on the coattails of hitting my Day 10 as well. Today was actually a real slow day. It was snowing like crazy this morning so I opted to stay in. Plus I actually didn't have to log into work so I had plenty of free time. I'm a bit behind on my drinks too since I took a 1 1/2 hour nap this afternoon. I still need to have two more drinks at least to make the minimum six but I should be able to make those.

Res.... I've always had trouble with this "water pipe" analogy.
Precisely - our health is in our gut. Think of all the junk "food" (if you even want to call it food) that we consume. It clogs the pipes, particulary the lower intestine and we "don't" absorb nutrients like we're supposed to. It hasn't always been this way - fast food is taking over - literally.
Back in the 20's 30's 40's 50's you ate at home, and occassionaly went out to a fancy restaurant, maybe. A snack was an apple, not a fruit rollup. People are unhealthy and sick and instead of it diminishing with modern medicines "pills" that are pushed, people are getting worse and dying from side affects. The answer isn't in medicine. It's in what Hippocrates said a long time ago;
"Let Food Be Your Medicine and Medicine Be Your Food"
So all that to say that I agree with Mercola when he states that toxins, sludge etc accumulate in the intestines and you reabsorb whats stuck to the colon walls. The impacted feces makes it difficult for the intestines to function the way they're supposed to which is extracting the nutrients from the food. The problem is more of a 20th, 21st century health issues based on all the junk we eat that really shouldn't be considered "nutrition". Cheetos anyone? ;) (by the way I love cheetos and probably eat them now once a year...*sniffle*)

CStar...I guess any number of days you're able to do the cleanse does provide benefits. Doing 9 feels like you're almost at the end but don't quite get there. I did a 8-day cleanse in May 2007 and only stopped because my parents were coming into town and I knew I'd be a goner as soon as my Mom started cooking...:) Otherwise if there's no commitments coming up that you need to be fully functional, I'd say go for the full 10. staytonsmith; I love it when people ask that question. ;) We have a Raw Forum - but, not everything in there is about eating raw. Maybe 50%. Here's the first recipe I posted in the "After the cleanse thread" and this is the tip of the iceburg.
Oh, I'm going to post this here. It's in the recipe box but it's worth repeating. This is so easy and I eat it all the time for breakfast:
1 Banana cut into bite sizes
1 stalk of celery cut into bite sizes
6 Dates chopped
2 TBLE chopped raw walnuts
Mix together. Eat. I take it to work with the celery and dates already chopped in separate bags. Then chop the banana at work and mix together.
Everyone chimed in and added favorite recipes. You really don't need a cookbook. lol. AND it could be a good time to check out the thread to plan ahead. The above recipe sounds weird, but it's AMAZING.
And here's an easy salad and then I'll stop there because I don't want everyone diving for their Fridge:
Fresh Mozzarella Plate
2 Med cucumbers peeled and sliced thin
1/2 lb Fresh mozzarella cheese sliced
1 cup cherry tomatoes halved
1 cup fresh basil leaves, packed (Yum!!)
1 tsp sea or celtic salt
10 grinds fresh black pepper
2 TB Extra Virgin Olive oil
Layer overlapping slices of cucumber on plates. Top with fresh mozzarella slices.
Arrange cherry tomato pieces and sprigs of fresh basil on cheese.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Drizzle delicately with olive oil
Serves 4
And there's also meat recipes etc. So as you're nearing the end of the cleanse, to be safe create a menu for 2 weeks and stick to it. Go simple to make it easy on yourself.

If you have any questions on it just let me know,
xoxo

staytonsmith; I love it when people ask that question. ;) We have a Raw Forum - but, not everything in there is about eating raw. Maybe 50%. Here's the first recipe I posted in the "After the cleanse thread" and this is the tip of the iceburg.
And there's also meat recipes etc. So as you're nearing the end of the cleanse, to be safe create a menu for 2 weeks and stick to it. Go simple to make it easy on yourself.
OMG Res, you're killing me. I better go make some lemon tea.

Congrats, Gourd! Making it to day 10 is awesome.
Today I told my husband that I plan to transition into raw foods after this cleanse. He looked at me for a moment, then said, "So, are we getting rid of the stove?" lol I also started dehydrating some fruits for our upcoming trip to New Orleans and he looked at it, then asked what was going on with the hair dryer on the counter. He's such a nutcase. :D

DAY 5 and all is well. I am absolutely surprised how I am not hungry. Day 1 and 4 I had a headache but kept the thought that if I get through until the morning then it will be better. And it was better each morning. I think the worst part of the day is nighttime but as I was explaining to my husband. It's not like I want to eat an apple. I want to eat spaghetti or some favorite food. Not just any food. So I can tell I am just thinking of food not necessarily hungry. I've lost over 5lbs already and I can see a notable difference in my appearance. I've even made meals for my family throughout and it hasn't been difficult except on day 1 and 2. I don't even mind the SW taste or the lemonade. So today I'm celebrating my half-way mark!!! :D

Hi guys!
Day 1 for me...officially. I think i've tried starting like 4 times, and caved like a sucker or found some excuse to wait for another day. Plus, my period started this week and i was having cravings like a mother! haha...so here i go and i'm exited. I'm doing this to cleanse (i'm kind of a party girl, so i do alot of drinking and smoking), and to hopefully lose some weight. I've been a dancer for the past 10 years and recently quit the company i was dancing for, so not being in class and regular rehearsals has put a few pounds back on me, and i feel so out of shape!
I did the SWF this morning and found that it helped to warm it up. Also, the sea salt that peter recommends makes a huge difference! I got it down this morning without wanting to puke like i did the first time i tried it. I think i've had at least 4 BM so far today? I stopped counting, but it's definitely coming out of me...I slept most of the day today, just trying to listen to my body. The only thing is, i'm hella cold?? My hands and feet have been cold all day...is this normal? Other than that, things are goin good...im gonna go for 10 days, and then see how i'm feeling. Maybe i'll want to go longer? The thought of being cleaned out and toxin free is a big motivater for me. Reading all of your posts is definitely helping...:)
Thanks for all of ur support! Wish me luck!

WOW - so many posts!!! Big congrats to everyone - really just for being you and showing up. That's a lot - seriously.
MC2/10 Days - Post Cleanse Day1
First - WHOO HOOOO KP on your book deal - that is HUGE!!
CONGRATULATIONS WAYNE & GOURD & LOTS OF OTHERS for reaching your goal and COMPLETING your cleanse!!
Special big RESPECT to LIN & SHEILA & KP & BETTY and She-Whose-Name-Is-Lost in my memory who is probably at Day 40 by now, and all the others who have been such an inspiration for going LONG - Wow. Just Wow.
THANK YOU EVERYONE (sorry for shouting, but I haven't mastered font size & color changes :( ) And extra thanks, too, to SWF2 for sharing all your knowledge, and RES (of course) for nurturing all us baby chicks along and miraculously not letting us get lost along the way :D
So yesterday, Day 10, we awoke (in cold Connecticut) to NO HEAT. For those of you who experience the "coldies" - imagine!! Not the best way to spend D10 LOL.
I had detox symptoms the whole cleanse, really only 1/2 a day where I felt good. No energy burst, mental clarity, etc. What is interesting to me is comparing this cleanse with my first one. I had (and still have) many more aches and pains - headaches, lower back pain, right calf, left foot. A huge painful pimple on my chest - weird stuff. The scale is down 10 pounds but I don't really feel any leaner - probably because I don't feel good yet, and I associate feeling good and energetic with feeling healthy and lean. I think it is pretty clear that it would be in my best interest to stay on the cleanse for a few more days but now is not the time for it. I'm going to ease back to food very slowly, and - like so many others - move closer to raw.
The past couple years I've done a large amount of self-work - mental/emotional/spiritual investigation and exploration. I think - but I'm not sure why - that may be one of the reasons I had so many more physical detox symptoms this time. Last time it was mainly a total lack of energy and my head shut down.
So today, PC-1, I started off with a glass of hot water (NO SALT :D ) and then some lemonade. Later I had a little orange juice, and later a little more. All in all even fewer calories than on the MC (not the way to get rid of the "coldies"). Right now I am enjoying NOT drinking the tea!! Tomorrow I'll have more OJ, and then try a whole clementine, and maybe some watermelon at the end of the day. My plan is to buy a juicer (when not snowed in) and begin adding green juice.
Sorry for the essay - once I start typing it just keeps coming. Guess I'm just posting a SWF - oooohhh - sorry LOL

OH - And THANK YOU Lynda for the recipe! That sounds wonderful.
Talking about Raw and Recipes - anybody have a recommendation for a good juicer? I want one that is easy to clean - just being honest here. I have a VitaMix and have been drinking green smoothies - but I am interested in juicing for more nutrients with less bulk (sometimes LOL - Love my VitaMix).

I added day 6 and 7 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbmXiXBgCF8) to my video on You Tube.
Day 6 was great! It was probably my best day. I think I had such a good day because I was so happy I made it past day 5.
Burned 500 cals
Took an Epsom salt bath
Day 7 was alright. I couldn't drink the whole SWF, just couldn't get it all down. I bought more cleansing supplies today.

Hey, Pinky!
Just wanted to run some encouragement your way...FYI: There's a very real possibility that you're gonna feel like crap the next 2 days. Forewarned is forearmed. Just be ready to grab a lemonade when you're feeling yucky...oh, and be sure to drink LOTS of water!! Hopefully that'll ease the yuckies. I did not know that I would be so cold all the time. Long underwear was a recent present to myself. Just know that Day 4 is def better!
Keep on cleansing!!

You know, I have a hard time getting all the SWF down, as well....feels like it'll come back up if I push it. So, we just do the best we can. I'm jealous of your epsom bath. My bathroom with the tub in it is under renovation. I've seriously thought about going over to a friend's house. She's on well water which I should do anyway in order not to soak in flouridated water.
Congrats on making it past Day 5! Onward you go!!

Hi All, This is the end of day 9 for me. I have one more day of cleanse. This is my 4th cleanse and thankfully I had very few physical detox symptoms, but my emotions were fragile this time. I'm grieving lost love ones all over again. I've woken up crying two mornings in a row. Not like me. It's ok though, It's what I'm supposed to be doing this time around. It's a healing and I'm grateful for all of it.
I have great energy and have done my workout every day except one this entire cleanse. On my earlier cleanses I couldn't even look at my exercise equipment for the first 3 days. I'd like to think that each cleanse gets easier but I suspect that each one will be different but exactly what my body needs. It's all good. Stay strong everyone. A-

Day 10 down.
I hate my life.

I am at the end of day 9. My husband is in the kitchen cooking a hamburger with grilled onions, toasted bun, and cooking french fries in the convection oven. The smell is amazing but I actually appreciate the smell without the desire to eat any of his food. I also went bowling tonight with my church group and they were eating pizza and it smelled amazing. But still, no temptation to waiver.
Something I have noticed on this cleanse different than the last two, is my sense of smell. It can be a good thing and also a bad thing. The foods I smell make me have great memories of when I ate them last. The downside is smell EVERYTHING. Its so bad I have asked people if they would like a mint to help their breath.
Weird stuff...what other crazy things has anyone noticed?

MC 3/Day 36
I LOVE COMING ON HERE!!!! :D:D:D:D:D
So much to read and so many new people. Perhaps, I should login more often, cuz I've been here for a good hour trying to catch up.
A few of you have finished CONGRATULATIONS WayneMan and gourd4me.
Thank you all and especially, otis, GreenGoat, JNP, WayneMan, Meedis for your support, hearing me out and relating to me from a few days ago :) Things got better for me again. I have cut off everyones negative comments by stating that, "your harrassments are unconstitutional. It's my right to do what ever I want with my body, and if you don't like it, maybe you should read the Bill of Rights and pay close attention to the U.S Constitution, instead of many days I have not ate solid food!!" :D and since then, I have adopted a new name, "Radical Lunatic" YEAH!!! :D:D I'd rather take "radical lunatic" anytime than being full of POOPOO ;)
SO, lets see...I have been reading sooooooooo many RAW food books and decided to partake in the 30 Day Raw Food Challenge!! I am extremely excited about this :D. So excited that I spend close to $300 in the past 2 days on kitchen gadgets; food dehydrator, food processor, bamboo cutting boards, vegetable peeler, APPLE SLICER, AVACADO SLICER  (I can't wait to use these, especially) all kinds of glass jars for sprouting, and many other kewl new things to get me going in the Raw Food Movement!!! WHOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO
Okay, almost time to end this day and start day 37  (I still can't belive how far I've come)
:):D

Boiling the water for my last smooth move tea. Then I'll call it a wrap to Day 9 and prepare to drink my last SWF. Feels good to be so close to the end. I'm definitely looking forward to my veggie soup on Tuesday.
37 days....wow!!!! Congrats toolegittoquit, keep on pressing on!!!!!

I'm on Day 9 and I feel great. This is my 9th cleanse over the years. Everything went well this time and I was able to roll with the detox symptoms, except on Day 1, when I just had to take my migraine medicine. Day 7 was definitely a major detox day; I was crabby and oh so tired, and I couldn't stop thinking about food, even though I wasn't really hungry. I wasn't hungry at all throughout the fast. My fast last year didn't go so well, so I quit after 5 days. After that I went totally raw, but it didn't last. I'm hoping that this year I'll be more successful.

I am new to this site and find it confusing!
Just wanted to say that my husband and I have just started our second cleanse today (first day 1/10/09).
While trying to register on this site, read about keeping 3 months between cleanses. We did our last cleanse in November 2008 for 10 days but did not have a totally pink toung when we ended. Since we felt so great (no joint pain, etc.) last time and now the joint pain was coming back, we decided to do it again. Also, because of the Holidays, we had gained back some of the weight we had lost.
But now I am wondering if we should abandon this cleanse, or at least myself, since I am treated with Boniva for Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis? Would I run the risk of losing my hair? Especially since we were planning to cleanse for at least 10 days again, or even til the toung is pink.

Anyone else have that happen?
Lynda
Unfortunately, YES. But I was at Target... not cool. :o
My rule of thumb is to never pass gas unless on the toilet after a SWF and I drink the tea instead if its going to be a hectic morning. I'm too pretty to be poo-ing myself!
best of luck!
