Way to go Kc! I found that when I went straight into Raw eating after my cleanse, I never gained an ounce back. I continued to loose weight and my body got to the optimum weight for my height, I am sure I would have gained weight after the cleanse if I had started eating meat and dairy again.

Also, I got back into an exercise routine. I am sure that helped too!

Keep up the great work!!

Hey there!

I totally agree with you! When I went raw after my first cleanse, I continued to lose weight and maintain it even though I was eating gourmet raw food and dessert every day which were NOT low in fat. I think it is definitely true what they say about your body metabolizing this fat better and getting rid of it. It literally goes right through me. So you can eat fat and lose weight, just the raw fats. coconut butter/oil, avocados and nuts, etc. And of course lots of greens and fruits!

Hey Lynda! I have been thinking alot about your gourmet meals. I have been having a ball watching videos on Youtube of Raw foodists sharing their Raw recipes. During my Raw journey I have been really missing having a bowl of comfort cereal. I kept putting off making my own almond milk, for some reason I thought it would be too time consuming. I watched jennifer Cornbleets video this am, she was making granola cereal with almond milk. It brought tears to my eyes. My mouth was watering so much, it must have started coming out of my eyes. Jennifer's recipe was so simple, and looked yummy. I can't wait until we can sink our teeth into some of that awesome RAW food.;)

Thanks for Sharing!

[ Well I was a little ahead of myself yesterday, recounted and it is only day 11 today (guess I am one day behind Karen!!!) Feel much better today, whew yesterday was tough, could not stop thinking about eating everything:( Just taking one day at a time now down 8 lbs as of today and hoping for at least 15 total but also interested in the raw food diet post cleanse. I think the biggest thing is finding recipes that are good and not too time consuming. We do have a great health food store here and I find that now that I am not rushing through I get time to look around and see products I never even knew existed, GOOD THINGS!!
Happy lemonades to all today and strength to get through one more day!!!

Hey
anyone out there have an answer about someone substituting the maple syrup for agave? Everything I have read says not to do it. What about yacon syrup?
Thanks for the feedback. The books say no but maybe something has changed? I just read a post where someone substituted agave.....
Lynda

Hi Lynda, the books do NOT say not to use agave. What Burroughs says is to only use maple syrup, sorghum, or unrefined cane syrup. His book was written in 1976 before agave was "discovered" (by people other than Native Americans, at least). Glickman does not address the issue of agave. His book was written in 2004, before agave was widely known. What all three recommended syrups have in common is that they are a high fructuse sap taken directly from plants, not processed in any way, this is why they are the only acceptable syrups. This info is on page 19 of "The Master Cleanser". Raw agave syrup is also a sap taken directly from the agave plant, not processed, and is therefore in the same category as the recommended syrups. It was simply not well known at the time of publishing. I had been concerned about the mineral and vitamin content of agave not being as high as the MS, so I researched that and posted it somewhere on here. Will try to look for that. The bottom line is that MS and agave each have a different mineral/vitamin content. Neither one is "better" than the other, just different. Because of that, I prefer to switch between the two during a cleanse to get a wider variety of natural nutrients.
There are two reasons that peppermint tea is recommended and ONLY peppermint tea (aside from the senna laxative) : 1) we are supposed to limit our intake of any other substances - most teas have a blend of several plants, sometimes artificial flavors and/or caffeine. Caffeine is a toxin - human death from caffeine overdose is virtually unknown (it would take approx. 200 cups of coffee to kill you), but in the past, caffeine was the drug of choice used to kill small laboratory animals after being experimented on. So, anything that can kill you in large doses, and kill small animals in small doses, can't possibly be good for you. Green tea has caffeine. Decaffeinated green tea has been processed to remove the caffeine. I don't know what the process is exactly, but obviously any processed foods are not recommended. 2) (and this is not in either Burroughs or in Glickman, I just know this from studying herblore) mint is a digestive aid. It soothes the stomach and helps digestion. SO...no green tea.
Mint tea is only strong if you make it strong. If you remove the tea bag (or leaves) a minute after pouring in the water (or even 30 seconds) you will still have mint tea, only much weaker.
I have never heard of yacon syrup before. But, if it is an unprocessed plant sap, it should also be OK. The hard part is finding out whether is not processed.

Karen - congratulations on passing the cake batter test! I have been there, and failed more often than passed, so I can really relate to what an accomplishment it is!!

Congratulations to Survivor, too, for passing up temptation! OMG!! The torture of having a chef living in your house cooking while you are on the cleanse! SOOO funny that watching someone make granola with almond milk brought tears to your eyes!

----

I have never gained weight IMMEDIATELY after a cleanse, if I went off it correctly. I usually do gain about 5 lbs. back over the course of about 2 weeks to a month, but nothing in the first week or week and a half. I am on day 18 right now, and feeling pretty strong. Think I can make it to 22 days (which would be my longest cleanse) or maybe even to 30? Yesterday started thinking about what I will put in my veggie soup - I think I will make it a winter vegetable soup - onions, cauliflower, brocoli, zuchini, yellow squash, parsnips, carrots...and cayenne, of course!.

I HAVE lost weight in my back! My back used to go straight across, you could barely see an indent for my spine. Now there is a BIG indent for my spine, LOL! I have also lost weight from my lower abs, which is where I really needed to lose it the most! (the "front butt", ugh!) I have been measuring my waist only, which hasn't changed much, but really the lower abs were more of a problem than my waist. So, I feel I look more like a woman and less like a chunk of human flesh. :o And my clothes feel better on!! Instead of being stuffed into my clothes, like a sausage in a casing, I can feel the texture of fabrics as they brush against my skin!! I had forgotten how GOOD it feels to wear clothes when they fit loosely!!

Keep on squeezin' ! :D

Thank you so much for your reply! I completely agree about the fact that since agave wasn't available it would not be mentioned and neither would yacon. I will just stick with maple syrup simply because I really love the taste of it and it is slightly lower in calories than the agave. If I feel a need for tea I may do the mint again and take the tea bag out quickly. I definitely would NOT drink mint tea unless I am on a cleanse... but sometimes you just need a diversion right? so no green tea. I'm on board!!

I am a cereal lover! I actually don't do ANY cereal at all when I am raw. Most recently when I wasn't doing raw I had a really hard time with cereal, I went crazy eating several bowfuls at a time (of fiber one) so since I feel this is a weakness I just don't do it at all. I eat fruit for breakfast instead.
I have been in the kitchen soaking my walnuts and just rolled them in agave, salt, cinnamon and maple syrup powder. They are now in the dehydrator for the next two days getting nice and crunchy. I use them for the topping on my lavender icecream with blueberry puree sundae out of matthew kenney's raw food real world book. I order the lavender flowers out of san diego. I can make this ice cream and the walnuts and just stick it in the freezer so when my cleanse is over it will already be done. No... I won't break down and eat any...lol. But it's great knowing I am getting something out of the way now. Getting ready to go outside and start chopping up my thai coconuts to get the meat out. This is a project...

Thanks Lahontani, I know having a chef in the house can be nice when your'e eating, fortunately he is about 80% raw, so he definately as an interest in raw preparation. He makes an awesome watermelon salsa and macaroons to die for.

Way to go day 18! You inspire me, I may shoot for 30 days too. As you know, ususally our bodies scream I AM DONE! I am trying to take one day at a time, but I know I will hit 10.

Talk to you soon!

Cereal has always been a weakness for me too! I live for my daily green smoothies and I like oat groats blended with raisins and a bit of agave with chopped up apples. The walnuts and lavendar icecream with blueberry puree sound delicious. I will be looking through Matthew's book today to check out the details. I wonder if I can get Lavendar flowers here in Austin. Have you ever tried any of Ani Phyo's recipes? I had a blast watching some of her step by step recipes on Youtube today.

Good luck chopping up the thai coconuts.

We will have to share recipes when this cleanse ends.

Happy Cleansing!

I know I could do a raw granola, etc for cereal but I chose to eat fruit for breakfast instead and a salad for lunch and then save up all my fat for the gourmet dinner and desserts. This has worked really well for me. I follow the basic premise of a book called the raw detox diet by Natalya rose. Light in the morning, still light for lunch and then dinner is your heaviest meal. It goes against everything you normally read. In the regular world( not raw) they say have your lightest meal at the end of the day. I really look forward to my gourmet meal and dessert at the end of the day. This way of eating works for me really well. Weight is maintained and I'm satisfied.
The thing about this lavender sundae that is crazy is that I'm not really a huge ice cream person. In the same book he has a chocolate ganache torte that is to die for! I made the sundae because it was pretty( he has a picture) and unusual and it blew me away! Lavender ice cream doesn't sound that great but it is... I'm not sure about where you can get the lavender flowers but check with the stores around you and see. I had to order them(not cheap) and I took everything my source had for the rest of the season. But well worth the money in my opinion. I got a huge amount that I just freeze. You only need 2 tbsp for one recipe worth but rest assured it won't be the only time you make it.

mmmm...everyone's talking about cereal, and I was thinking about cereal and sandwiches yesterday.

Besides that, i'm on day five and very disappointed. I look exactly the same, I haven't lost anything, I might have actually gained weight in my thighs, which I do not need the weight. I know what Ive looked like in the past doing the master cleanser and somehow I am not achieving that. I may have lost a almost 1/2 inch in my waist, it is very disappointing.

This time around I'm having bowel movements throughout the day, I puked four times straight out water, liquidy stuff last night. But I think that's because I accidently soaked the tea for like almost an hour, so it could have been the strength.

Even though I am very disappointed, I keep telling myself that there are other reasons for doing this, and i'm going to stick to ten days, and I pray to God I see some kind of results. Because right now,I'm in the, this sucks mood.

Hi
Hang in there! You are doing great! Also, don't get discouraged about the weight loss. The first time I did the cleanse the same thing happened to me the first week and then I would read everyone else's posts about all the weight they were losing so quickly and I wondered what was wrong. We all lose at a different rate but in my second week it started to come off a bit more and then my third week even more. When I came off the cleanse I went raw and kept losing. Reading the posts where everyone is losing so much right away and then we aren't makes it hard at times. But stick with it and the weight WILL come off not to mention all the other benefits.... skin looks great, energy level is high, clarity. You may even decide at day 10 to keep going as you begin to see all the things I mentioned (and you will) but even if you just do 10 days, that is awesome!
Keep up the great work , you will be so glad you did!!

Hello everyone :) Im just starting Day 1 of the cleanse today.. while this will be my 3rd time doing the cleanse so far, I must say the SWF is the hardest part of the day.. I cringe every morning knowing I have to drink it :( I know there is the laxative tea option in place of the SWF but I feel the SWF is healthier and easier to manage time-wise..

I seem to have forgotten how long to wait after the SWF before drinking the 1st lemonade drink.. an hour?? any feedback would be appreciated.. take care and good luck

I am on day 9 and not sure what's up... My first cleanse (last May) went very well, but I fell into bad eating habits again when I got back together with an ex. He's gone again so I'm cleansing again! :o However, this time seems different from the last time. I highly recommend keeping a journal, because I don't have any notes from last time to compare. My main concerns:

1) I still get hungry and am still craving bad food.
--This is probably because I work in the fast food industry (mostly coffee, but still) so I am around it almost everyday. The hunger is also probably from not having enough lemonade (I have at LEAST 6 10 oz. glasses a day, but most days, I'm on my feet for 8 hours or more). I also noticed I am losing weight slower. Last time, I lost 12lbs. in the 10 days, and now it's day 9 and I've only lost 5 (down from the same original weight as the first time)

2) My BMs don't seem "right."
--Second time around is way easier for me with the salt water flush... I chug a half litre twice easily. However, my BMs in the morning are still very brown or at least darker than I remember. As the salt water comes through, they get lighter and more yellow, but by evening they are darker again, though smaller but more solid. Last time, I don't remember having as many BMs and by day 4 or so I recall most of them being simply yellow or clear liquid with mucoid plaque flakes. I also find that I'm actually gassy (not the "oops" that feels like gas but isn't ).

3) My tongue is still pretty coated.
--Last time I didn't continue the cleanse until my tongue was completely pink, but it was pretty darn close. I've noticed my tongue beginning to clear at the tip and around the sides in the last day or so, but i doubt it will magically lose its scum completely in the next two days. I had planned to go until my tongue was clean and pink this time....so.....

The big question: SHOULD I KEEP GOING FOR ANOTHER TEN OR SHOULD I STOP?

Anja - whether to stay on the cleanse or not, at this point, is up to how you feel MENTALLY. Your body is DEFINITELY still detoxing and because of that you should continue, but only if you feel up to it. Every cleanse is different, so you can't go by what happened before. Everything you mentioned is a detox symptom. And if your body is working out some toxin from one of your internal organs, all your energy is going there, not toward losing weight. If you are having some solid BMs on day 9, you are definitely pulling toxins out of your system, because that's not too common. I personally don't consider a cleanse complete until I have had a few days of plateau where I don't lose any weight, followed by at least one high energy day...then I know that whatever toxin my body chose to work on that cleanse is removed (even if the rest of me still needs a lot of work  )

Which brings me to MY dilemma - I am on day 19. I am still losing weight at a very steady rate. I have not had a completely high energy day yet. I had intended to go for 22 days, scheduling to come off right before going on a weekend vacation. THEN, the other people going on the trip canceled for financial reasons. I couldn't afford to go just by myself, so I figured the trip was off. Now, one person has said she wants to go. I was very excited because it will be fun, but my finances are really too low to do this with only 2 people. Going with 4 would save me $100, off of going with just me and one other. THEN...I am very close to getting to my goal weight for this cleanse. I feel like I could go for a full 30 days! There is no way I can stay on the cleanse during the trip - and if I tried I would end up coming off it the wrong way and gaining weight while spending the entire trip with diahrrea. I need a SIGN - something to tell me whether to go on the trip and have fun (end the cleanse Tues.), or to stay home, save money, and stay on the cleanse for a full 30 days. This is the last weekend I would be able to go on any such trip until December, when the weather will obviously not be as good for traveling. Insights? Perspectives? Anyone?

I looked all over the board and could not find my post from about a year ago regarding Agave vs. Maple Syrup. I DID, however, find some notes I had made on it. It's too bad we're not allowed to start new threads - I really think we need one for all the agave questions. I did not write down my sources in my notes. They were on the original post, with links.

This forum will not allow me to make columns, so I am trying to edit it to make it more readable.

Thanks so much for the advice. I know I'm still detoxing, I was just starting to feel like it may never end if I wait for perfection...but that was again the detox talking. I feel like I can definitely go for 20 days once I make that decision, and I have. In relation to trips, I leave the states for Toronto on Tuesday morning where I'll be spending a week looking after my younger sister. I will probably also see my mom (my parents are separated and sister lives with dad) but my Dad will be away the entire time I'm there, which was also not expected. I don't really socialize with my parents unless it's over food or coffee, so I thought it would be a little weird to be fasting. I had planned to end the cleanse and break it right in time to have a meal with my dad when he returned. So, things change and we shift perspectives. Setting a vague time, like a pink tongue, isn't nearly as comfortable to me as saying "20 days." So, I'm taking the plunge and saying 20.

As for you, I think it also depends on how your perspective has changed. To me, it sounds like you aren't satisfied with this cleanse yet, and aren't really looking forward to your trip. I'm definitely no expert, but I think you will still feel unsatisfied, and perhaps even guilty, if you go. Is there a(n) (cheaper) alternative to the trip that still involves hanging out with this friend? (eg. hiking, pampering or whatever it is you both like to do that won't interfere with the cleanse). If it feels right, I would go for thirty days now and spend your extra energy on something fun that isn't going to cost you extra emotional energy. Just my two cents... Hope it helps!

Hello Lemonheads, today is day 18 for me :D Since this is the place to discuss all things disgusting, :o I will share my bath time experience with you. ( NO I did not poop in the tub). I have a large jacuzzi tub. Well today as I was lying in the tub full of really warm water with the jets going (I used about 2 cups of epsom salt for my soak) I noticed a brownish grey ring forming on the sides of the tub, lots of it. Since I wash my hair before I fill the tub with water, I am sure this was not something in my hair, I can only guess it was a detox symptom. Anybody ever experience that?

Did you try a new brand of soap? Other than that, I can only guess it's dead skin cells....ewwww! Actually, it makes me want to go take a bath now, to see if I can scrub a bunch of dead skin cells off.

Honey, that sounds like detox to me. I tend to bathe, do hot water & washcloth scrubbing, foot soaks in epsom salts, skin brushing and showering a lot more during a cleanse. The skin is your largest cleansing organ... keeping it exfoliated and the circulation high will help with the cleanse big time.

I am day 2 and delighted not to have a headache. I feel calm and peaceful. Always welcome.

Lynda

Thanks Lynda, I really needed to hear that. Especially, this morning.. I woke up and looked in two different mirrors and felt that my face had bloated out the size of.... and then I looked in another mirror and my face looked normal, no change. I feel like my mind is playing different tricks on me. I've been going through very emotional/confusion moodswings. However, this is making me feel stronger; these feelings make my desire for food even less. I feel as if I am fighting for my freedom. I am in a battle for freedom that will regain my confidence to hand me back the love and respect I deserve for myself, which I'll be able to give to others again. As long as this takes, I plan to do this until my tongue turns pink, because we don't give up. WE'RE ALL STRONG PEOPLE THAT DON'T GIVE UP WHEN THE TIME GETS TOUGH! STAY STRONG EVERYONE OUT THERE, WE CAN DO IT!

on a softer note, a bath sounds great.

Good information! Thanks Lahontani. When I run out of my maple syrup, I will try the Agave. I enjoy making the mixture with limes also.

Day 7 here..... and the detox symptoms just keep on coming. I was feeling so bored yesterday, so I decided to go to my favorite Goodwill store and buy some Knick Knacks. I couldn't believe all the beautiful cups and plates that had hand painted fruits and vegetables on them. As I was at the check out, I am sure the cashier thought, "Oh I guess her kitchen is decorated in fruits and vegetables". NOT! I know that is a good sign, I am attracted to the good stuff, not the junk, right??? :) No pun intended!

Throughout the day yesterday, day 6, I was experiencing dizziness, dull pain in the gall bladder area and I was extremely gassy. I use tons of cayenne in my mixture and I was thinking maybe I had over done it.(I am a Texas girl and we look it hot!)

After my SWF this am, my elimination was unbelievable! As the dark chunks came out, I also witnessed coal black pieces, that I could swear are pieces of mucoid plaque. (Sorry if TMI) The dull pain and the gassy sensation is gone! I LOVE CAYENNE! I used alot of cayenne during my first cleanse, but I am using even more this cleanse. I really think the extra cayenne helped break away some of the plaque. Oh... and by the way my eliminations are not hot. Some people think cayenne can cause hot eliminations. Peter Glickman addresses that in his book, saying that the hot burning eliminations are toxins.

Have a great Sunday and whatever day you are on please remember to drink water too. It is easy to be so focused on the lemonade, that we tend to forget to drink some water. It will help the detox symptoms.

Happy and Healthy Cleansing!!

WOW!! That is awesome! I am going to go in my bathroom and start scrubbing with my loofah and epsoms right now! I don't have a jacuzzi, so I will have to use a little elbow grease.
Thanks for sharing, I love hearing about different detox symptoms. It makes perfect since that the old dead skin cells are dying to come off!:D

Hi Anja - thanks for your input. I really DO want to stay on this cleanse. I would love to go on the trip, too, but two weekends from now, not this weekend. The trip would be to see some plays the last weekend of the season, so this is the last weekend to do this trip until Feb. and the last chance I have to do any weekend trip at all until mid Dec. So I am torn. It is not about spending time with this friend - we can do that anywhere - it's all about the plays and is also tied in to my ex b-f. We were going to go, and part of me is saying that I need to prove that I can have fun without him, and part of me is convinced he will be there also and that we will run into each other at our favorite places, and I can finally get some closure. ugh! so...multiple layered issue.

----

I am on day 20. I lost another 2 lbs. yesterday!! This is a constant surprise to me - I have never lost weight on such a steady regular basis in all my cleanses. I don't know if it's just the right time for my body to make these changes, or if it's something I'm doing differently. There are 4 things I am doing differently, this cleanse - 1) Balinese Sea Salt (but I don't think that is making the difference weight-wise, because some days I have to skip it and just stick with the tea), 2) I am working out every day. Before this cleanse, and on previous cleanses, I was working out about 3 days per week. This cleanse I have gone to the gym for 1.2 - 1.33 hour 15 days of this cleanse, and on the 4 days I could not get to the gym, I did a Pilates tape at home. My workout is 45 min. cardio and 10 - 20 min. weights/stretches. This includes: 3) 300 sit-ups. I worked my way up from 100 and have been doing 300 sit ups for about 8 days in a row, now. 4) cayenne and vitamin supplements every day. Yes, I know we're not supposed to. But vitamins are controversial in the health-care world. Half the experts believe that when you eat a good diet you don't need supplements, and that supplements encourage you to not try as hard to eat right. The other half believe that our food is not as nutritious as it should be (except for privately composted organics) due to mass processing and therefore it is helpful to take supplements even with an excellent diet. Burroughs is one of the former; I am one of the latter. So I have been taking B-complex, and calcium/magnesium/zinc every day. I have also been taking 1-2 cayenne pills, because I HATE the taste of cayenne in the lemonade, and can only tolerate a little in the limeade, but I wanted more cayenne to help my circulation. We're also not supposed to take supplements because then we have to digest them, detracting from the cleanse. But...I would rather take the supplements, give my body what I feel it needs, and detox at 95% rather than missing the supplements and detoxing at 100%. It seems to be working for me very well.

I always thought that going 30 days was a bit extreme and excessive. I NEVER planned on going that long. I am shocked to find out that I want to continue for 30 days and actually feel good (not martyred) about it. The best part is that I didn't come up with an arbitrary number as my goal, but planned to go to 15 (scheduled around work and other activities) then moved on to 22 and now MIGHT possibly go to 30 - just because it feels like the right thing to do, not because it's a nice high, round number.

Well, so much for thinking out loud...

Happy juicing, everyone!

Oh! I've been meaning to tell everyone for days now! I found the coolest thing in Whole Foods - they now have flavored agave: in vanilla, almond, and hazelnut!! NOT good for the cleanse, obviously. BUT, one of my biggest weaknesses is coffee, esp. in the winter when it's cold and snowing, I just can't resist. And the cream and sugar really do me in. Now, I can take my flavored agave syrup with me and use that instead of sugar! I also found, last spring, an all natural, herbal blend, coffee substitute "Teecchino" that actually tastes GOOD!! It has no caffeine (some people say "then what's the point?"), but I know from the cleanse that I have plenty of energy without the caffeine as long as I eat right. The coffee is more about emotional comfort food on those cold mornings when I don't want to get out of bed and go to work. The Teecchino and flavored agave together will make my coffee so much less toxic! I know, for all you strong purists who are going raw after the cleanse, that this is not the ideal. But I have had such trouble staying on a "perfect" diet afterwards, that I decided to take baby steps. Last cleanse, it was no soda...ever. It has now been 97 days since I had any soda! (I feel like I should be in soda-holics annonymous!). I have also cut out about 40 new recipes for different soups. I plan on making a new giant pot of soup every week and making that a big part of my daily diet.

Hey!
I just love your attitude! Good for you! Um, I looked at my thighs and wondered why they weren't smaller the next day, lol. You are so right about your desire for food lessening. This cleanse always resets my body and makes me want only good healthy food and not junk or anything processed. I love that. The cleanse is a bit of a battle, that is why so many people think we are crazy when we do it. Most people could not conceive of doing this or going a day without food. I have always wanted to go until my tongue turns pink but it hasn't happened for me. I did it for 21 days the first time and it was still disgusting. I really wanted the pink tongue but for social reasons needed to transition back because that takes a little while. As long as I get the mental clarity I strive for and get my mind and body reset to only healthy raw foods (and lose those last few pounds, lol) I will have accomplished what I want. It sounds like you have a plan and you know what you what out of this which is AWESOME!! YOU ARE DOING GREAT!!

Hi all! I am new to the board. Today is Day 7, and I'm doing great. In addition to reading Burroughs' The Master Cleanser, I read Lose Weight, Have More Energy, Be Happier in 10 Days. I really think being prepared mentally and knowing what to expect on the fast has helped make it so successful. All of the experiences I have been having have basically been textbook.Today is the first day I have been having more than a passing craving, though, so I am dealing with that  I have been getting the best sleep of my life on this fast, and as an insomniac, this is the greatest gift. I also have been having vivid dreams, and last night I dreamt I was eating various foods- maybe that is why I am craving all these things today?
:confused:I do have questions regarding probiotics. I have read a bit about how it would be beneficial to take them completing the fast. That I understand- should I start Day 1 of breaking the fast, or wait until the three days of breaking are completed? The other thing I was wondering about regarding probiotics was about foods containing them. I know which foods to eat, but I read on a Kefir website that it should not be drunk until about three months after a detox program. Anyone out there familiar? (I hope I didn't offend those that don't believe in consumption of dairy)
Is there a thread on probiotics on this board I am missing, that I could be directed to?
Thank you so much in advance for all of your help!:)

Good call on reading the books before starting, I did the same and was glad that I did too.

I always take probiotics starting on day one of the post cleanse (OJ day) because I am no longer doing the Lax tea or the SWF and I want to get things up and running as soon as possible (get the insides re-populated with good bacteria). I take a product called Power-dophilus, it's in a vegetarian capsule.

Sounds like you're doing great, I love the good sleep too, it's one of the best parts!

I stopped and reassessed why I want to stay on the cleanse. And basically, it's because I want to reach a particular number on the scale (before I run into the ex b/f). That is NOT what the cleanse is about. Yes, I would look better and be less full of toxins, if I stayed on it. But the purpose is to be healthier FOR LIFE, not just by next Thursday (or whenever). So, I feel I am being truer to the point of the cleanse to not stay on it for longer, and miss out on a great weekend, but instead to come off slowly, and eat very carefully and moderately on my vacation. Small meals, salads, soups, smoothies for lunch will cost me less, anyway!

So, the current plan is to make Tues. my last day (Day 22), and go away for the weekend. Having made that decision, I felt great...looked in the mirror and actually feel I have accomplished what I set out to do on this cleanse. I currently weigh 2 lbs. more than I did 2 years ago, which I expect to lose before I'm done. I originally wanted to be 5 lbs. less than I was 2 years ago, but, hell, I feel good and look 10 times better than I did a month ago. So, there! :D

And having said that, my fellow road-tripper just let me know that she might not be able to get off work after all. LOL !! So...I will play it by ear: 22 or 30 days depending on whether my friend can get off work or not. Isn't life a gas? All that ruminating for nothing!

I'm on day 13 of my 5th Master Cleanse and have lost 20 lbs so far. I water fasted for several days tho.
I am now trying to start doing the juice. I was interested in the person that wanted to fast for 60 days to ask what day are you on now?

I am finishing up day 3 and feeling amazingly fine. No headaches, just some mild fatigue.

I always re-read the booklet before a cleanse.. it helps focus my mind and remind me of the recipes for the lemonade and SWF. I think Peter's book is just as valuable.

Lahonti, it will be interesting what happens... do you get to go, or stay and keep cleansing??? I find all the times I invest in figuring out what I want to be useful - not for nothing. I got off sodas years ago... but it took a while. Well worth the effort.

I lean towards rejuvelac (an easily made fermented drink) for probiotic repopulating the digestive tract and usually have it for a few days to a week or more after a cleanse.

Best,

I'm on day seven, and I must say, its quite amazing how fast time has been going by. I definitely feel some kind of shift in the world; all the other times I fasted seemed to go very slow.

I have to agree with the intense lucid dreaming. I'm trying so hard to hold on to my dreams, remember them, right them down, interpret them. All I seem to remember are these really bright deep blue colors. And other little remnants here and there.

I'm also completely craving raw food. And homemade pasta y tomato sauce. Somehow, by looking at pictures of raw food and watching the food network its almost like satisfying. Do you guys get that also? Yesterday, I was looking at these raw tacos and without thinking I said out loud, "mmm that taste good" then realizing what I had just said, I laughed. They should really have a raw food chef star their own show on the food network.

I applaud you for your decision! I think it is a really good one! If that was your sole reason for staying on it then I agree, we do lose sight and start to focus on JUST weight loss and that is not the only reason (or should not be) for doing this. Keep in mind that you will continue to lose weight after the cleanse as long as you don't go back to eating processed crap. Just eat healthy raw (or as most you can) foods and you will be fine! You deserve the trip. Have a great time!
We will all miss your posts when you are off the cleanse!

I watch food network 24/7 while on and off the cleanse. I love it. I make raw food while ON the cleanse(talk about torture) and YES, I WAS JUST THINKING.... WHY ISN'T THERE A RAW GOURMET FOOD CHEF ON THERE? There is a channel called veria that has a natural foods chef but she doesn't make anything exciting. It is not gourmet by any means.

Hi all!
Thanks for the help in answering my questions and the support. Day 8 today:) I plan on staying on the MC for at least 12 days- this is so I can break the fast on a weekend. My 10th day is Wednesday. I'll probably reevaluate Friday. I really want to stay on the fast until my tongue turns pink. the problem I'm having is not with the MC itself, but my schedule. I am a teacher, so trying to get to the bathroom is a challenge. I really wanted to do the SWF daily, but I have to get up so early to allow for the time needed, I have been doing it every other day. Then there is the laxative tea- not easy either, as I cannot just leave my students and run to the bathroom whenever the need strikes. It makes doing the MC very uncomfortable, but I have been doing the tea in the morning on days I miss the SWF. Then there is the drink- I mix the syrup and lemon juice at home, then add the cayenne and water per glass as I drink. Mixing it requires a second, though, and I don't get as many moments when I'm not teaching as I'd like. Finally, there will be days (I have one this week and next) when I am in a workshop all day. I will have an hour for lunch. I think those days I will premix the morning amount (water & Cayenne included), then at lunch mix the afternoon's total. It is not as if I can pull out my ingredients and fix it in the middle of a presentation. This is not ideal- I would prefer to make it fresher to preserve the enzymes. So, I'm torn. Part of me wants to just do the 12 days, then try again over spring break, when I have the time. But part of me really wants to see this through.
On the cravings note, I read that I would be craving healthy things- I am a healthy eater (not vegetarian, but very rarely do I eat meat- maybe twice a month when I'm out to dinner somewhere). Well, yesterday I kept craving a salad- and the raw food "spaghetti" I had seen on a TV show (not the food network- I think watching that on a fast would KILL me:p I actually bought a cookbook on Amazon- Raw Food Made Easy For One or Two, because I want that 'spaghetti' pretty darn bad!

Hi, your doing great, day 7 & your doing great, that is wonderful, you go! Weird dreams too, yep have them alot lately, I think since we get more energy maybe our brains get more energy too:) just a thought. I'm going to get back on my probiotics when i'm done too, right away. I believe that it really helps. Well hope you have a good day!

Lahontani, whatever happens as long as it is good in your heart, & you feel either way is good, but hope you do get to go away, sounds like alot of fun! I am on day 15 & am looking for poss. 30 days, but it depends on how it goes, if well i'll keep it up, but if for some reason it can't I'll just do one next year:) Oh, the agave w/van. & flavors, sounds yummy, i Love Coffee, decaf. of course, but it is my one thing i still enjoy & have, with no guilt:D Have a blessed day & this day is almost done!!!

I'm on day 13 of my 5th Master Cleanse and have lost 20 lbs so far. I water fasted for several days tho.
I am now trying to start doing the juice. I was interested in the person that wanted to fast for 60 days to ask what day are you on now?

Hi, that is wonderful day 14, I'm on 15, so we are very close. Well keep up the good work & hang in there, how long are you going for this time?

Best,
LN

I'm on day seven, and I must say, its quite amazing how fast time has been going by. I definitely feel some kind of shift in the world; all the other times I fasted seemed to go very slow.I have to agree with the intense lucid dreaming.
If any of you are looking for a great read on this cleanse check out, The Center of the Cyclone: An autobiography of inner space by John C. Lilly
It's absolutely mind bobbling. About reprogramming oneself.... A scientist that goes inside his mind through different experiences ...meditation, hynosis, lsd, probably cleansing, dreaming, isolation-confinement....
Day 7 Congrd's I'm going to get some raw cookbooks when i'm done with my fast, cant wait they all sound wonderful & the utube on some of the recp. look so good. Foodtv should have a raw chef! Well have a wonderful day!

Hi all, well day 15 for me, i'm doing ok, even this weekend with the birthdays and all the bbq smells & food, i did ok, not one thought of taking a bite. Everyone was good about me doing the cleanse & seemed to be understanding, except for my son, he thought i should break my fast for this, & i nicely said that would mean i'd have to start back on day one, & I could not do that, as that would be like going for 45 days & i'm not ready for that:eek::eek:
I am a little worried, my grandson & daughter have gotten colds & the baby has fever too, I hope I do not catch it, but if i do, can i stay on the fast when you get sick, can we get sick on the fast?
I hope you all have a beutiful blessed day & this day is almost half gone :)

Hey guys!
One thing I always experience during every cleanse is i cheat on my cleanse and eat in a dream. It's nice because I don't actually cheat but in my dream I get to eat food! Lol
does this happen to anyone else? Btw, the raw speghetti is amazing. It's one of the first dishes I tried as a newbie and loved it. Now I never eat it because it's so easy to make. I love making time consuming and complex dishes. Out of Matthew kenney's everyday raw book... I love the creamy sage-pumpkin risotto with wild mushrooms. I made that last year several times during the holidays. Another favorite, arugula gnocchi with sweet pepper sauce, marinated asparagus and pine nut Parmesan. These dishes take time but are so worth it !
Everyone is really doing great out there! Keep it up!!

Hey there!

No, he doesn't do any basic recipes in his book. They are all much more complex with exotic ingredients which I love! ani and jennifer cornbleet lean more toward the easy recipes. You can find it in both of their books. I don't use their books much but if you are looking for a quick and easy marinara I do. Ani's polenta is great! I have to say that once you eat these recipes, I feel they are far better than the sad. I really do. The thing I really like about raw gourmet is that it totally satisfies me. Meaning with regular lasgna I would eat a piece and go back for a bit more even if I am not hungry.. but with raw lasgna I eat a piece (good sized) and stop..
I am on day 8 and here! Going to do 14 days so I am now starting on my second half. Will be making more food this week while still on it so I will be ready when the time come!

Hi Everone. Just finishing up Day 1. This is my third cleanse, and I am trying to beat the 10 days. Last time I saw pink spots on my tongue, but I had to get off. This time I have nothing pressing happening, so I am hoping to go 15-20 days, or whenever my tongue turns pink. I will stop there, and if I feel like extending wait until my next cleanse to reach that mark. I am wanting to move my body to its right place slowly! Good luck to everyone, and I am looking forward to meeting some of you as we journey together!

Hi Tashacricket. I am a teacher too. I hear about getting up early, but this is what I do and it works! I set my alarm for 4am, get up, chug down the salt water flush, and in 10 minutes I am back in bed until 5:30. My stomach starts rumbling when I get up, I shower, and when I am out I eliminate - usually it is at that one time and I am finished for the day! I make my lemonade in 20oz portions in a water bottle (that I emptied the day before - Nestle purified water - 1 liter). I bring two bottles of lemonade to school along with 2 bottles of water. I save the water bottles for the next day. At home, I have another 20oz bottle of lemonade and water. It works great because it paces me, hunger is managed, and the bottles are easy to carry around. Drink the laxative tea at night and get up for the swf - that part is very important - and you will see that your body will regulate itself as well (I hope for you anyway!. Good luck, and bless you for what you do for the kids!

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to look for rejuvelac at the health food store. I usually take probiotic capsules when the cleanse is over.

And now for the continuing saga of, "To cleanse or Not to cleanse?" or "As the lemon turns..."
My friend can make it after all. Go to book the reservations AND...there is supposed to be a big snowstorm the day we are supposed to drive there!!! I am NOT driving 250 miles in a blizzard!!! I actually made that trip back a few years ago in a blizzard and it was the WORST driving experience of my life. So, NOW I am on weather-watch to see if I will be able to go or not. There is a big storm blowing in right now, and it's supposed to be icy rain here tomorrow, so maybe it will blow itself out before Friday.

I lost another lb. yesterday: total of 26 in 20 days! Am going to do a gym workout AND a Pilates tape at home each day for the next 4 days until my trip, to "make up" for going off the cleanse earlier than I want to.

I always use a good quality probiotic after the cleanse too. Another thing that is fermented and very helpful is a drink called kombucha. I really like it. It may taste a little strange at first(comes in a ton of different flavors). It has a lot of benefits. Aids in digestion, helps with weight loss, etc. It definitely helps you eliminate and I found it really supresses my appetite. I can't even drink a full bottle at one sitting and the whole bottle is only 60 calories(some flavors are higher, I go for the lowest calorie flavors by choice). Good plan with the working out! That also really speeds up weight loss! Good luck!

Day 5 begins for me and all is peace and calm.. still. I am amazed and a bit bewildered. Maybe doing a liver flush a few days before the cleanse helped create this experience. I honestly don't know. I feel so lucky, having gone through so much drama in previous cleanses. Time for some lemonade.

Day 9 here :) I enjoy reading everyone's comments- I feel very supported. I did try the extra early SWF and then tried to go back to bed- that did not work well for me- ended up laying there. But the good news is Day 9 and this has been a relatively easy and painless experience- with the exception of my scheduling issue. I, too, am wrestling about when to stop- Day 9 and my tongue is white as can be. If I continue, I will be locked in through next week, as I want to break the fast on the weekend. What to do, what to do. I guess my body will let me know Friday.I plan to stay at least through then.

I plan on checking Kambucha out, after the fast :)

Hi - This would be day 4 for me (of my second cleanse) but I stopped the cleanse because I experienced a symptom I hadn't read that happened to anyone else. I started with the tea on Friday night. Drank SWF Sat. morning. Threw up half of it. Pushed through that day onto day 2 and drank ten, 10-ouce glasses of lemonade. When I drank the SWF on Sunday, again it did not come out of me. Specifically, no yellow bile. Drank another ten, 10-ouce glasses of lemonade. Continued the process with evening tea and SWF Monday morning. Again, I did not expell the flush. Thinking I may have a blockage or something, I took an enema to perhaps loosen whatever was preventing me from eliminating the flushes. Still no result. My first time doing the LD, everything worked as you said it would. Can you tell me what happened?

hey! I have had that happen before on several detoxes. Peter says to increase the amount of salt you use by a little more. That is currently what I do now, I use a bit more than suggested and that does the trick for me. But yes, I have done cleanses where on the first swf, nothing came out and then not much the next day so I just stayed on it and increased the salt and that worked.
So sorry you came off it after getting through the first 3 days which I think are the hardest. I hope you try it again!

I'm new to this site & new to the MC. I just finished my first 5 days (my holistic doctor asked that I try minimum of 3 days, max of 10)... on my 5th day, I made the mistake of going out in the sun for too long... felt dizzy & just gross... went to bed very early. The next day I felt about the same, so I began drinking juice because I couldn't afford to drag at work. I also made the mistake of eating the soup on the first day off the cleanse... I only ate a little, but it was enough to wake me at 5am with extreme stomach pain. My belly was so bloated I looked like I was 4 months pregnant! This went on for about 20-30 mins... tears & all! I drank a SWF & felt much better. Went back to bed & woke an hour later to a bm. :) Now it's the 2nd day breaking... it's halloween & there's ton of candy around my office... so, I've eaten about 4 pieces today. I know I'm going to regret it!!! Anyway, I'm wondering what benefit there is to doing 10 days, rather than 5, or 7 days? Does your body get to a point that it cannot expel any more toxins? Oh, and I thought I should mention that I wasn't doing the cleanse to lose weight... I did it ONLY because my doctor asked me to. I have some intestinal/colon issues that I'm hoping this will help with... or at least be the start of making me feel better.

The MC is fantastic for cleansing the colon as well as the kidneys and liver. Each day you do it is a gift to your body, IMHO.

I chase the SWF with another 32 ounces of clear water... or I have a big glass of water when I first get up... and wait a while before doing the SWF. If you don't pass anything it might mean that you are dehydrated... drinking plenty of water during the MC helps me avoid that. The SWF always works for me.

I am ending day 5 - boogied for 25 minutes and it felt fantastic!! Going to shower and hit the sheets, now.
I am still calm and peaceful.

Day 18 for me, and also my last day, I am looking forward to getting back to solid food, this is the first cleanse that I did not weigh myself before I started and I will not weigh myself after I'm done, I just can't see any good reason to do that any more, I can tell if I'm in good shape without calculating it by numbers (I am a little curious but oh well). I am going to do fresh made organic carrot juice for the next couple of days since oranges are not in season and I've got lots of organic carrots (I've finished the cleanse this way before and it works for me, a little sprinkle of cayenne is good in it too!).

Best of luck to all keep the faith, it's so good for you, I'll be back in the Spring for another 20 days.

congratulations! That sounds good. I actually don't juice anymore when breaking te fast. I just eat grapefruits which they say is fine to do and it works for me. You get the fiber and you would need a lot more grapefruits if you drank it. I just eat them all day whenever I'm hungry. I'll do that a few days then go to salads and raw food.
I agree with your theory on not weighing yourself. The scale can be too much of an obsession and dissapointment for many people. Hopefully everyone out there is doing it for many other reasons. Why compulsively weigh yourself and then get dejected when the number isn't what you were hoping for? I did not weigh myself when I started but have weighed myself twice since I started. Coming to the end of day 10. Will do it for 14 days so I can eat solid food too. I weigh myself on the day coming off of it. In this case day 15. But you just put on clothes and you know you are making progress.

Day 3 here. Today has gone very well. Yesterday was a little tough at the end of the day - I was hungry. The lemonade does a great job of pushing off the hunger, so I was able to deal, but everything smells so good. I am encouraged because this time seems to be going so much easier than the other two times. I am busy at work, and that helps, and I just try to go to bed early. Like some of the other people who posted earlier, I am sleeping so much better! I can't wait to get to bed to fall into that deep deep sleep. I feel more energetic during the day, and I can feel my body reacting well to the absence of food. As others have also mentioned, the food smells have been very comforting - especially today. I thought it was funny, but being around the smells helps ease any of the tension or anxiety of not being able to "have food". It is such a big part of our lives, that I just can't see shutting it out. I am almost ready to plan some great meals for my family and indulge in the cooking!!

Take care everyone.

I can't seem to find much to read about other people doing that many days but I am planning on doing 60 as well. I've done 39 days on the Master Cleanse back in 2004 and have done several days of fasting through the years but I want to get totally free this time of my food addition and go at least 80% raw. With all the money I'm saving on food I can now buy the Omega juicer I've been wanting and can buy good sprouting equipment. yehh!! I'll try to stay in touch more this time throgh this cleanse. I am on day 18, & think with prayer I'll be able to get to 30 days;) I do have a sore throat since last evening, so hopefully it won't get any worse. What made you decide to go for 60 days? I think 30 is plenty long for me, plus the New Year I'll fast for maybe 20 days too, I do not think i could go much longer, but you never know, I know they said that you could do longer ones because of the Lemon/MS so you'll be ok for that long. Well my grandbaby is here & will be waking from his nap shortly so have to run. Have a blessed day & hang in there:)

Day 7 begins for me... the SWF is doing it's thing... gurgling through the pipes.
I have had an amazingly calm and peaceful cleanse so far. I feel like every level of my being is ready, eager for and enjoying this.

40 Day Dreamer.. I have done 40 days before, too and went raw right after. Then got totally distracted by a major mouth overhaul and the driving need for comfort food. It has taken a few years to get refocused and ready to go raw again after this cleanse. Karen C - 30 days is fantastic and plenty long. This is not a test.

Freedom from eating for this long is such a relief. I like not thinking about food, not wanting it. I love the free time, energy and space that not eating leaves me. I know the cleanse is perfectly safe for 40 days or longer. I have read one person going 55 days and feeling radiantly happy and comfortable. I have read people going longer with no trouble, and huge benefits. This is a juice fast and as such it is easier to maintain than water fasting. And you need no supervision, as you are getting nutrients.
I am not trying to prove anything.. I am listening closely to my body as I cleanse. So far every indication is that it is loving this process. I intended to go for 60 days on my last long cleanse.. but at day 40 I had a pink tongue, felt fantastic, felt finished - like I had done 'it' and wanted orange juice and salad... so I ended my cleanse.
I want to go for 60 days... it means a lot to me... and I am listening closely again to my body. I will end this when it wants me to do so. I am hoping to go the whole way - to 60 days. We shall see!

Hi,

I am new on masters cleanse. I am 32 yrs old ,5'2" weigh 85 kgs....In fact right now I am just trying to collect all info on master cleanse after reading the book, so that I can do it successfully. I plan to do it for 30 days atleast. Is it too ambitious ?

I am starting from monday. I have decided not to cook for first 1 week, so that I can stay firm on my diet plan. I have exchanged responsibilities with my husband for 1 week. I hope I would get adjusted with the diet after 1 week and then will able to stick to it, even if I do cooking for rest of he family.

Though, the cleanse is not just intended for weight loss, my goal behind following this is mainly weight loss...and all other things are side effects that I wish to have. I usually never want to go for any quick fix for weight loss, but now since i have tried enough for last 4 years, and now I am suffering from slipped disc n want to go for 2nd child, its wise for me to reduce some weight before I conceive. And this is the safest way I have come across for this purpose. So I want to lose some weight, maintain it for 6 months atleast n then plan the 2nd child. And I too have my 6th wedding anniversery on 17th november, so this would be the most desirable gift for him too.

Hope I will get all the support needed from this forum.

Thanks
Kirti :)

Wow, LNdolls- 60 days! Let us know how it is going!
I am on day 12 of my first MC. The MC has been going very well- except for 1 headachey day (day 3) I have had no problems, and it has been a very positive experience. At 10 days my tongue was still white, so decided to continue until day 15. I was then going to continue in 5 day increments, checking myself along the way, until my tongue turns pink. However, I woke up this morning, and just felt like I was done and over it. I have several reasons why. One is the monotony is boring me to death. I love food and the complexity of different flavors and miss it. Another reason is lack of rest. I got such wonderful deep sleep on the MC at first, but now the laxative tea is waking me up at about 3:30am(and then I can't get back to sleep) and then I need to get up early for the SWF. I feel pretty tired today, and attribute that to lack of sleep. But the main reason I think I will stop is my goal of a pink tongue is starting to seem unrealistic. I read that many do not achieve this on their first MC, and that left me feeling deflated. I thought for sure my tongue would pinken up. The white does seem to be receding around the edges and the front. Any experienced MC'ers want to weigh in?

Hey everyone!

So this is day 1 for me and I do have a small headache--nothing horrible, but it's still a headache. This will be my second attempt at the MC. The first time I only made it 2 days so this time I'm praying that I will make it to 10. I would love to go 40 days so I'll have to wait and see how I feel after 10.

I have a couple of questions: How many days does it take to go off the MC if you go a full 40 days? And what would the eating schedule be like? Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!

It is told that while detoxing we should shower a couple of times per day in non fluoridated to wash toxins off our skin. I did some research and found fluoride cannot be removed from municipal drinking water with a traditional filter. I live in a condo and an appropriate filtering system cannot be installed. What can I do?

Day 5 here. Question: has anyone actually seen the effect of mucous/black eliminations? If so, what day did it start for you? What cleanse were you on (first, second..). This is my third cleanse, but I never did reach that part of it and am hoping that I can stay on long enough for that to happen. I am hoping 15 - 20 days and not longer. I look forward to hearing your experiences.:)

Day 8 begins for me.... I had great dreams of abundance. And I miss food. I miss the energy, attention, focus, excitement, variety - I miss the entertainment aspect so much more than the full belly. Lemonade is terrific - especially when I am hungry. But... the days seem longer without meals. Ah, well.. another lesson being learned.

Coming off the cleanse whether you do 10 days or 40 days is the same.. The booklet covers it. the only addition I would make is adding probiotics and fermented foods!

Hello everyone,
I am excited and greatfull to have found this site, after spending considerable time researching the master clense, lemon detox.I was very interested and in great need for a change and this feels right.I am now on day two and going well, morning headaches being the only difficulty. Here in Australia i have not come across B grade syrup allthough organic pure syrup is available. My start weight is 72 kilos and am comfortable at 65kg the lowest i ever weighed was 62kg.The weight loss would be great in regards to fitting back into some old favs, but my main focus is feeling energized and refreshed.Today am feeling posative and happy !!

Hi Everyone!

Today is Day One for me and I am very, very happy to be here! I did a 10 day fast a couple of years ago -- it was hard, but I felt really great. It totally changed the way I feel about food and eating. After it broke my fast, I thought "I need to do this at least twice a year" but then -- you may know how it goes -- life continues at it's hectic pace, you look at the calendar and realize that time has passed much faster than you'd realized! :)

SWF is underway and I am just about to go squeeze a lemon! :D

Is anyone else just starting out? Good Luck to all of you!

Morning everyone!

Today is day 2 for me and I'm feeling pretty good. I wasn't able to get the SWF down at all. It all came right back up before i was even half way done. I decided to drink some laxative tea and see how that goes.

Yesterday I had this tiny headache which turned into a huge headache by the end of the afternoon. It wasn't pretty. I ended up going to bed early and by the time I woke up it was gone. I also weighed myself this morning and I have lost 4 lbs. That is a nice bonus.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day! :)

:) Hi All, day 20 for me, can't beleive it, but I'm not sure how long i'll be on, maybe for 10 more days, but I still am fighting some sort of cold/sore throat, so i might stop tonight, & just come back In Jan., for my New Year 21 days... maybe that is what i'll do. Yes the dreams have been really life like & vivid colors & lots of folks I know & even do not know... but i am sleeping better, which is really nice, because i do not sleep well at all most of my life, i'm used to it, but the sleep is a nice change. I hope you all have a wonderful day, it is a sunny day here in fl, we were hoping for the cold front to have it be much cooler, but it was pretty warm still today, one day i will take a trip up north & play in the snow! Maybe next year:D Keep up the great work & hang in there, each day by day, you can do it!!!

I have a question: Has anyone here done the MC and not done the SWF, but instead used the laxative tea morning and night? I can't seem to keep it down in the morning. Is there anyway to make it better?

Hi doublestar,

Yeah, I just do the tea morning and night for the most part. I work in the middle of the night and don't get much sleep as it is, so getting up earlier isn't going to happen. I have not had any problems keeping my eliminations steady doing it that way. If you want to keep trying the SWF, many suggest trying to drink it through a straw. HTH!

No worries, Doublestar.. .many people have dones the tea 2 times a day instead of doing the salt water flush. I have no problem with the SWF.. I have more discomfort from the tea!

In fact it made my night pretty miserable, so I finally got up and did the SWF really early and then could sleep.

Day 9 begins for me... Food is so unattractive to me right now it is amazing. My favorite foods are not calling to me at all!! No matter how luscious they seem to look... Other cleanses I drooled at the thought of food.. and whimpered at commercials for the Olive Garden's pasta... not this time.

Okay, I am an example of WHAT YOU SHOULD NOT DO. NOT DO. I was on day nine, I was hoping to go at least 22 days and I went for a bananna. First thing, first, if I was going to break the cleanse I should have drank orange juice. Let me tell you what happenned. I thought I had enough supplies, but I didn't. Instead of getting my lazy ass to the store, I went online and bought more sea salt and the tea, figured mine as well get more maple syrup while I'm at it. I did two day delivery on a Saturday, not realizing it was a Saturday. I ended up water fasting for three-ish days. And cursing all the way till Wednesday around 4 pm why the delivery man hadn't come yet. I thought about going to the store while on the water fast, but I had no energy at all, half my brain was frozen, crazy dizzy, I have never done a water fast and am amazed I went the days that I did. Turns out that after I decided to have a bananna and like a little bit of plain white rice, literally five minutes later the delivery man comes and I'm cursing more, was it worth it? No. Now here's what's worse I could have decided to continue the fast, but I figured it would count as day one, so I decided not to. I haven't been able to eat all week. I feel sick as heck, food isn't sitting right, cooked food, raw food, all food is not agreeing with me. I haven't been able to exercise cause I'm way nauseous. Nothing agrees with me, and somehow I ate some sourdough bread even though its the worse thing im tasting. It's like in my brain I used to like it, so it's almost like questioning why i'm not liking it while trying to figure out if i really don't like it as I'm eating it, retarded, I am retarded. BUT THERE IS A LESSON LEARNED, ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH SUPPLIES AHEAD OF TIME, AND DON'T BE LAZY. hahahahaha. im restarting tomorrrow.. day one, i hope i can do this again.

I'm on day 2 of the MC. Yesterday was really a piece of cake. I drank water most the day and only had 1 lemonade throughout the day. Iknow, not good.
I walked/jogged 2miles, went home drank the lemonade, 2hrs later drank the tea which was at 9pm. 3hrs later, at midnight, I woke up to eliminate. That was strange that it worked in 3hrs.
Today, it's 9am I haven't drank anything yet, not even a sip of water. Yes, I know, I'm off to a slow start. I'm going to drink the SWF within the next 10min. Are you really supposed to drink the saltwater FIRST thing in the morning? Like at 7am? or just in the morning sometime?
Thanks and happy cleansing!

Im on day 6 of my first MC. I have not had any major eliminations. Only small amounts daily. Very pungent though. I feel hungry at times and just drink more water. Following the guidlines perscribed and feel good. Although I miss the chewing of food. I think it will be easier to eat healthy after this. I mean mostly raw fruits and vegetables. I have lost some weight. Mostly that fat on the sides (love handles) I went to a hot yoga class yesterday and felt great! That is the first work out I have done since starting the cleanse. I do the SWF first thing in the morn. Then about a hour later I have a couple of lemenades. Tea before bed.

I must add something, even though I stopped abruptly on this cleanse, and gained probably everything I had lost, I gained something much more important. For the first time right now I'm fat and happy. My reasons for starting out with the cleanse was to lose weight. What I got is enlightenment. I used to be a size 0, a swimmer, a dancer, everyone said I was the girl that never stopped smiling...I've been ashamed of myself for over a year, and have stowed away in my dark haven away from the world, so they wouldn't see the monster I had become. For the first time in over a year, I had gone out without caring what other people thought of me, I started talking to a few of my friends again, I read and finished a book, started to dance again and get involved in yoga, and most importantly, get in touch with a spiritual side of myself that I stopped believing in. So today is my pre-day starting the cleanse, but losing weight is no longer my number one priority, it's becoming more enlightened, exploring areas and "spaces" I've never gone before. I've taken away most of my distractions. Taking away the tube. And decided that I am going to spend my time meditating, going to the beach or on hikes, and just listening to myself, so that I can go in the flow of the direction that we all deserve to go.

I'm in the middle of my Day 7. Things are going well. Last night I was cooking a big birthday meal - shrimp and pasta along with a chicken alfredo pasta dish. Without even realizing it, I ate a glob of cooked spaghetti - to test it you know? Just a habit. I never even realized it until I felt a piece of pasta in my teeth - about 5 minutes later! Then, all I could feel was this big blog just sitting like a rock in my stomach. I was so bumbed out! So I went into the bathroom and made myself throw up and there it all was - the spaghetti - in its full form. I felt so much better and am continuing. My stomach has not "come alive" thank God, so I can still say I am on Day 7. I hope I don't make a similar mistake again. Seriously, it was such a habit that it never occured to me! I will have to be careful cooking.

Today it seems that my mucous lining may be coming out - small bits of gel-like stuff in my eliminations about 1 -2 inches big.

P.S. No one has responded to my question about the "tar" eliminations. Has anyone actually got to that point? When did it start for you?

Keep on everyone. Stay strong!

Hey everyone!

It's the morning of my third day and I'm a little anxious. Last night i was kicking myself for starting this cleanse around Halloween. It's one of my favorite holidays! All night long, as I was handing out goodies to all the trick-or-treaters, the chocolate kept calling my name, and I wasn't sure I was gonna make it. Phew! I'm glad that night is over.

Thanks to everyone who answered my question about the SWF. I tried again this morning and I still couldn't handle it.

swips - I wish I could answer your question, but I'm still pretty new to this and I don't think I would be any help.

I hope everyone has a fantastic day!:)

OK, this has been a tough (and weird, you'll see in a minute) day. Day 14 and I am having food cravings I have never had since starting the past. I had some that were fleeting, but today it has been nonstop. Tomorrow will be my last day on the MC. The first 10 days were fantastic, the past 5 have been on and off- mentally, not physically.
So today I am having cravings and for some reason I start thinking about rambutans (a lychee type fruit) that I ate as a child in Singapore. Which leads me to other childhood memories, and I start thinking about the steamed buns I had in Taiwan, where I also lived. By now, I am having a full on craving for these things and start googling them to see where the nearest Chinese bakery is (for future reference :).
I got a call not long after. It was my brother who invited me over for dinner. He was very excited and said he had a big surprise. I told him I couldn't come over to eat, as I was still on the MC.:( He was very disappointed. Then he spilled the surprise- he had gone to a very large asian market (which is far from me and I never go to) and had bought some steamed buns and rambutans (which are usually very hard to find- I haven' had any in years).
I could not believe it. Really, I couldn't. I am still in shock. I mean, what are the odds?
I asked him to save some rambutans for me- I can have them day three of breaking the fast.

Day 10 and I feel Blah! Reluctant, wimpy and whiney.... I don't wanna and I'm not gonna!!
The idea of food feels alluring, but I cannot really focus on anything I want to eat... even the mention of food in other peoples' posts does not do it.. I mean I can see, smell and almost touch it.. but I really don't have the desire for it. I am just restless and annoyed. Which means it is detox... sigh Detox is lovely in all it's forms.
Ah, well, maybe a nap. Maybe a dance???

Here we go! :D I am on my SECOND MC and am on day 6 and it is almost bed time. Like the first MC, I feel FABULOUS. I have fibromyalgia and osteoarthris. After about day 5, BOTH TIMES I have been PAIN FREE. After doing the MC the first time about 4 weeks ago and being off it for 2 weeks and having a couple of failed attempts to GET BACK ON THE HORSE, here I am on day 6 along with my 77 year old neighbor. I swear by this cleanse. It is so much easier than and diet. I went into this not as a diet but as a TREATMENT. I looked at it as a treatment towards better health. I recommend this to people and say, JUST DO IT for the 10 days and make a VOW to stick with it and if at the end of the cleanse you are not completely amazed and thrilled with the results by how you look and feel, don't do it again. I noticed after the first MC my entire system just worked BETTER. I was thrilled when after 3 weeks off I got on the scales and had not gained back ONE POUND. I plan to follow this cleanse on a Seasonal or qualterly basis. I love it. I can honestly say after the last cleanse that I could not remember feeling so GOOD over the past 10 years. I am already feeling that same energy flow. I love it. Love it. Love it. :eek:8):D:mad::):(:p:o:rolleyes:;)

Hey All,

End of Day 9. Looking forward to having one more day and then transitioning. I was craving cheese today. I've been a vegan for over a year. Strange. I read cookbooks a lot today. I clearly am looking forward to eating. I am thinking a lot about mindful choices. Exercised today. I ended up having to do a two-day business trip in the middle of this cleanse. I was putting the maple syrup into those small carry on bottles. It was rough during the travel, but I did get through. Plus, it made it go a bit faster, I think. I am so glad I did this cleanse with a friend. So nice to have a cleanse buddy.

Love to All,

A simple reminder for all cleansers... this cleanse is not easy I suspect because changing habits of a lifetime is challenging. We get very used to eating and given any stimulation - especially on day one - it is really easy to slide some food in our own mouth. So, I would suggest being kind and gentle with yourself if you eat.

I find the best way to do this cleanse is to almost completely remove myself from social interaction around meals. I am not tempted by food or commercials for food this cleanse - at least not so far, but I sure was each and every time I cleansed before.

I spend most of my time alone as a result and that can add to the challenge for many.

I am on day 11. Ready for lemonade!

I am on day 6 of my second mastercleanse. Ill be honest I follow thise plan to the tee, well almost minus the tea part. I do the laxitive tea the very first day just to eliminate whats left. I go all veggie fruit smoothies for two days before I start just to not have much inmy digestive tract. I also saltwater bath it every morning. The laxitives I found make me feel like hell, cramping, and lightheaded. I run and lift every day on this other wise and feel fantastic. Whats everyones take on the tea...do I need to or is saltwater bath enough?

I think I am going to do the laxative tea tonight - I have only been doing the swf so far. I feel like I may be releasing toxins that aren't getting out. I had 8 lemonades today and am working on my sixth water (60 oz). You'd think that much liquid would be enough, but it feels like I need something more...otherwise, I am doing just fine!

Trying for 20 days, but after tomorrow I am playing it all by ear - only to take the pressure off! :pI

I did my last MC in June, so now that the summer's over it's time for another one. I must admit I was half way through the first day (that would be today) and then I caved it and ate an apple. False start. Hopefully, I can keep myself away from the fridge tomorrow.

MC 6 Day 20

Hello master cleansers. I am back and ready to shoot for a long one again. I just realized that I am on day 20! YEAH :D. since I am planning on going for a long one again, I decided that this time I would not count the days til I get close to finishing. and what do you know, just like magic, it's 20 day into my 6th cleanse :). I feel good. not that many bad detox days. I had one really bad migraine a few days ago and been really tired. the lack of energy comes from working full time and going to school full time :(.
I had my first food dream last night...salmon cooked with tomato paste :o. my sense of smell is soooooooo sensitive. I could smell my hand lotion from the day before even after washing my hands a million times. but other peoples body odors bother me the most. like tonight, some stinky kid came and squeezed himself next to me for 2 hours in class, yuk :(. overall, I have been doing good. I haven't told anyone about my cleanse and maybe that's why I am going so strong this time. I don't have anyone asking me how many days I have left every time I turn around.

So keep cleansing lemon heads and don't count the days! enjoy the freedom of not knowing and wanting.

just a few words of advice. Eventhough I haven't been posting on here this time around, except for a few minutes ago, I have been coming on and reading posts. and I have noticed that some people alter their cleanse by skipping lax tea or swf. I have done the mc successfully 6 times and attempted another 6 or more times. but on the times that I failed, I had always tweaked the cleanse to "meet my needs". and that was the kiss of death for me. please please please, if you want your cleanse to be a success, do not change the cleanse to meet your schedule or what ever reason you have to skip the ingredients. if you want to see results, have energy on the cleanse and actually get rid of the toxins in you, then you must do lax tea everynight and swf using 2 teaspoon every morning, period. I know that on the days that I've skip my swf of lax tea, I feel sick, tired, sore, migraine etc, etc. that's cuz the whole purpose of this cleanse is to loosen the toxins while sleeping and flushing them out when arising . and when we don't follow these directions, then we feel horrible and in many of my cases, quit.

good luck.

Beginning of Day 4, this is my 3rd cleanse but none were complete. The first attemt was 6 day, and my second was 5. I'm going to really try to make it the whole 10 days.

Hello everybody, I'm starting my first day of my 2nd Master Cleanse. The sad thing is my husband has the flu so I'm really hoping I do not get it. It also means, however, that food will not be a temptation on the first few days. :o I mean, I don't wish the flu on anyone so let's hope I don't get it as I just started this cleanse but what to do? If it happens it happens. I agree with the person who posted that you MUST follow this to the letter. Lax tea at night, swf in the morning. It helps with a lot of the issues people have while doing this cleanse. I'm not sure how long I'm going this time but at least the 10 days. Swips, having been a bulimic that story of vomiting up the food so you could still stay on the cleanse is a bit disturbing. That's not healthy, sweetie. Be good to yourself. Anyhow, I check in a lot and since I'm in locked in with my husband that helps with the check ins. So lax tea last night, swf this morning and lemonade now. It's only 11.20 ish but I'm here to support. Best to everybody. OH, and I broke the fast incorrectly last time by not doing OJ. I was sick for almost a week after. It was horrible. I will break the cleanse the way it's written this time around. Lesson learned!

Aloha, is anyone on this forum anymore? All posts are old. I have done the mc 3 times before, never for 10 days, only 4-5. I am trying for ten. I could use support. never had problems before, but last night I had headache, felt bad and ate peanut butter toast. Starting again today, is this day one or day two? ate the toast at 9pm yesterday, trying to lessen symptoms. Last time did this I never ate. Is anyone else doing the cleanse now?

Hi All, Day 2 for me. Yesterday I was weak as a kitten most of the day. Fortunately I did not have to work and so I lay about most of the day and did only light choirs. I got a killer headache and backpain early evening so I turned in and got a good night sleep. The lax tea and swf worked like a charm this morning. I have today off as well and intend to take it easy and concentrate on my selfcare. Toolegit, I remember you from my last cleanse. It's good to see you back. Happy cleansing, Angela

Aloha, this will be my third cleanse. Last one was exactly a year ago and only 5 days. Im trying for ten this time. I love this forum, never did this forum thing before with other cleanses. Support is needed now. This cleanse is harder than my other two. Yesterday was my first day and at 9pm I felt horrible and scared and ate peanut butter toast to break it. Starting again today. Is this day one or two. Do I start over now? I would like to have help from this forum to last ten days, and be able to write in when Im having a hard time, as well as having a good time and be a support as well. Been reading the posts, you guys are great.

Aloha to you! If you ate last night then today would be day 1. So just jump back in and give it all you got. Make sure you're drinking enough lemonade 6-12 10 oz. glasses a day and lots of water. Lax tea at night and SWF in the morning. What you were probably experiencing were detox symptoms and they can feel pretty bad depending on what your diet was before you started the cleanse. Every cleanse is different. There is a LOT of helpful advice on these pages. Definitely check out the link above called 'Instant Answers'. If you know what to expect then it's easier to get past.

I am on the first day for 4-days. How do I stay strong and not eat?

Evita
November 5th, 2009, 05:20 PM
Hello strong, think of it this way: it's ONLY 4 days (if I understand you correctly). You keep up your allotted intake of lemonade (or limeade) and keep your water intake high. Remember you can have 6-12 10 oz. glasses so if you're hungry and you're under your limit for the day then have another glass.
Drink your water. Always have water and a lemonade handy. Stay away from temptation as much as humanly possible. Wow. You're actually going through the hardest days before the days get easier. Expect that these days are very difficult and usually day 3 is the hardest. Hmmm... maybe we can encourage you to try a full 10 days. It's not as bad as it seems quite frankly. Also follow the laxative tea at night and the SWF in the morning. This helps eliminate detox symptoms. Why 4 days? Anyhow, I'm on day one so 'Aloha' (for short:), feel free to ask for help. I'm feeling a bit hungry but I also am trying to get all my lemonade in by 8 so I won't have to run to the bathroom all night. That helped last time. OK, I'll check in later! It's gonna be OK. Oh and keep reading the site for information and also read what others have been through. That helped me a lot. Day 1 almost down! Mild headache but that's about it.

Hey everyone....Day 1 complete! I usually schedule my MCs in time I don't have to work much....but this one needed to happen stat! In a restaurant and wasn't even tempted....we'll see how it goes tom....I'm worried about being tired, spacey and cranky!!

For me, the worst part about doing an MC at this time of the year is the cold. As soon as my metabolism slows down I start to feel chilly.

I agree with toolegittoquit about following the MC to a T. It works better for me that way. I don't know about not counting the days. That may work if one is going for 21 days or longer.

Did I read this right, someone here is going for 60 days?! That is incredible.

Marsh, I think you were around when I did my spring MC. Are you still eating raw? I have to say, I eat half raw, half cooked and I feel much better than when I ate mostly raw. I think my taste buds are more satisfied this way.

Anyway, end of day 1 for me. I did a 7 mile run today. One of my shorter ones, but I am saving my energy.

Day 2 starting. Slept very well but feel achy. I'd like to exercise but I'm going to see how I feel. Maybe some cardio and a yoga session. Bath is a definite. Waiting for the SWF to kick in. I'll check in a bit later. Hope all is well with everybody.

So this has NEVER happened to me.....I just vomited up my SWF?!?! What to do? My first one of this cleanse. Its obviously never my favorite thing but I always can make do....weird. I woke up with a splitting headache in the left front of my brain and seemed to diminish a bit from my first elimination from tea last night.

Should I just skip the SWF and drink tea this am? or just skip both and drink tea tonight?
Thanks

Hi Everyone

Starting Day 5 today of my fourth MC. I have yet to post this cleanse as the rest of my life has been so busy and distracting. Being busy with my kids has made this cleanse the easiest one yet. I hardly have time to crave anything or even think about food. The lemonade drinks make my life easier because they are handy to carry with me everywhere.

The SWF has been a lot easier for me this time around as well. It is still my least favorite part but it is just two minutes of misery and so far no gagging just a really full feeling.

I am hoping doing this cleanse right now will keep me safe from H1N1 as it seems to be going around our neighborhood right now. All the kids who have got it have been quick to recover though so we have been lucky.

Good Luck to everyone cleansing!!

[B]Day One[/B

Hello there to the forum users

Have been off coffee and soda for the past week hoping to make the first few days of the MC easier to handle without caffeine withdrawals………… had a big bowl of popcorn yesterday to help kick off day one today (grins)…..I am sure it will all help.

This is the last MC before my doctor orders new blood work to look at my Cholesterol levels in December. I have put on 20lb since I saw her last and am very embarrassed to return carrying this extra weight as I am sure that my Cholesterol will be higher because of it………..it is not easy transitioning to a RAW diet and I sank back into the SAD one.

The last MC I did was the worse one I ever experienced (my 40 day one was a ‘walk in the park’ compared with it) as I was in so much pain throughout my whole body after the first two days of a serious migraine headache. I felt cold all the time and my back ached as did all of my muscles; I felt cranky, miserable, lethargic and tired all of the eight days before I broke and devoured everything in sight that I could lay my hands on….

Looking back in hindsight and analyzing it all I put it down to all the drugs pumped into me in the hospital when I had my motorcycle accident that month………….also the painkillers and Vikodin I was taking when I returned home. They must have been coming out of my system and causing the detoxing results.

THIS MC I REALLY NEED SOME EXTRA SUPPORT ……OUR MOM PASSED AWAY ON THE 23RD OF OCTOBER ………

A BUDDY WOULD CERTAINLY HELP?:o

So this has NEVER happened to me.....I just vomited up my SWF?!?!

I think you might have put too much salt in the water. Try it again tomorrow morning with less salt (or more water). Good luck.

I vomited my SWF once and I was never able to do it again. I would start gagging as soon as the bottle touched my lips. I stick to laxative tea now.

Hi Everyone

I just ran 2.5 miles which was tough but I am glad I did it! I have some baby weight to get off since I had my third child in July. This cleanse and getting back to my RAW diet are my plans for being back to skinny healthy me by Christmas! I am on Day 5 and haven't lost any weight yet, but I recall that on my first MC that was how it went as well. I didn't lose any real weight until late in the cleanse and then most of it came off the month after when I was 100% RAW.

I feel for you guys who have such horrible detox symptoms. I am lucky because my diet is pretty clean to begin with so detox symptoms for me are just some cravings, mild headches, chills and boredom. I am looking forward to green smoothies and salads when my cleanse is done!

Happy Drinking!!

I'm guessing too much salt. I did that too last time and it only happened once. I can still do them but that was NOT pleasant. I actually waited and then drank another one. UGH. Well, did and hour and ten minutes of vinyasa yoga and now going to do a half hour of kickboxing. No major detox symptoms today. A few minor cravings: my friends meeting for a glass of wine tonight... but there's always more wine in the world. So, off to do a little kickboxing and then I'm over halfway through day 2. Hope everyone is doing well! Check in later.

Ugh, I almost fainted during my mammogram, of all things. Right now I'm feeling a little nauseous.
Anyone here ever felt lightheaded on MC. I have a feeling with every next MC I have less and less energy. I wonder if my body already knows what follows, though some internal memory, and starts preserving energy form day 1.

I'm on day 13 of my 3rd cleanse, and must say this one has been the easiest so far. But as with the other two, my sense of smell is off the hook. I work in an office building that has a lot of customers coming and going, and ugh......some smell so horrible! An co-worker's breath, especially after they have been drinking coffee - I'm trying to do as little interacting as possible!

Hoping to go 25 days this time; 1st time I went 15 days, 2nd time 20. Am missing chewing something, but I keep my strength knowing how wonderful I will feel once I get through it.

Only problem I have is drinking all the SWF each morning - I just get so full that I feel like I am going to burst. On weekends when I can take my time is the only time I finish it all, but it takes me about half an hour to do it.

The weekend is almost here - the easiest days for me. Hope everyone has a good one and keeps on juicing!!

Hi Everyone. Just finishing up Day 12 and everything is going well. I did an ionic foot bath today to help rid my body of toxins, and the Dr. put the lazer on my liver and pancreas to increase activity. I am hoping these help to boost my detox activity. My tongue is starting to turn pink and I am encouraged.

Evita, Hi. I remember you from early summer. Good to see you here. I only threw up because I was on like Day 7 or 8 and I had to get the spaghetti out of my stomach - it was sitting there like a rock and it was either that or get very sick. So I chose. Don't worry, I am not a purger by any stretch - more the opposite! lol.

I want to mention that with all of the detox symptoms I am reading about - headaches, body aches, etc - I also had those. I was drinking 60oz of lemonade with only 1/2 of the maple syrup as allowed. I increased my lemonade by 20oz and my maple syrup by 1/2 tblspn and it made all the difference. If you are feeling weak or low, headache, etc, increase the lemonade and water. The lemons are what kicks the detox in, the swf and lax help rid the body of the toxins, and the maple syrup gives you the needed sugar. Cayenne helps move loosen the toxins from your bowels. So don't scrimp, don't worry about weight - keep your body healthy. You are allowed up to 120oz of lemonade mixture each day, and more can't hurt you.

Hang in there everyone, YOU CAN DO IT!

Hey everybody, so just relaxing quietly. The yoga and kickboxing felt great. I don't have the headaches on the 2nd day like I had the last time I did the cleanse. I know that Day 3 can be a big detox day (not always but Peter warns about it). No major symptoms except irritability with my spouse... nothing new there. :) So finishing up with some limeade this evening then will start with lemons tomorrow. I live about 2 blocks from my local organic store so supplies are never an issue. Makes it easier I think. I don't have any excuses. Since my husband has been sick with the flu there's been no food in the house so no temptation. Biggest one was not meeting my friends for a nice glass of red wine at the wine bar down the street (I live in a very small but fun town). I just thought: there's always time for wine after the cleanse. I was enjoying that a little too much anyhow:) So, I don't weigh myself so I have no idea if any weight loss has occurred but I don't weight anymore anyway. Anyhow, I'll check in later before bed. DIZZINESS: could have been dehydration or not enough lemonade. Make sure you keep yourself to at least the minimum. I have a VERY hard time getting 60 oz in but I really force myself and I keep my water intake to atleast 64 oz as well. Alright, hope everyone is having a good day. SWIPS: thanks for the clarification. I know I got revolting ill when I broke my last cleanse incorrectly. It was horrible.

Molunat and Evita thank you for the input! I think I did exactly that....2 tablespoons instead of teaspoons....Won't do that again!

Day 2 coming to an end....and it was a bit rough!! I kicked up the cayenne yesterday and today, I feel like it moves things along quicker. I'm feeling pretty toxic this time around...with a summer full of weddings and drinking, and more coffee than normal....Definately MASSIVE headache all last night and today....migraine in the front left side of my head. Then with all that cayenne I could feel everything moving around....along with a gnarly stomachache have to say I'm actually looking forward to SWF tomorrow to get it all out of me! Bring on Day 3!

MC 6 Day 22

hope everyone is hanging in there, and doing well :). I have been keeping up and trying not to count the days until I get on this forum. then I have to count so I can write how many days I've been cleansing. since I know I wont be done 'til the end of this month, I have given myself the permission to not look at the calendar, if I don't have a reason to. It's not hard for me anymore. the first 10 days is usually the hardest for me. anything after that is a piece of cake and I begin to tap into a more spiritual journey as opposed to a physical journey. I do wanna shoot for 40 days again, which I know I can. But something in me want to see what it's like to go beyond that... we'll see.
last time I checked, I had lost 17 lbs. which is nice, but I know some will come back after I go back to food. weight loss is not my issue anymore (thanks God), but I like to cleanse for the spiritual experiences and detachment from the world in many ways that I don't get to do when I am not cleansing :).

someone mentioned that they threw up from the swf, and that happened to me a few cleanses back. I had a KILLER migraine that morning and the swf was just too much for my body to take. so, perhaps you had alot of toxins in you that day and your stomach couldn't handle anything else. But you gotta keep doing the flush every morning :o. I drink my swf fairly warm. I stand up and chug as much as I can and after I slightly lick a lemon wedge, which helps tremendously. I finish my swf in 2 to 3 chugs which takes me no more than 3 to 5 minutes tops. If I take my time, I get sick. so try that and let us know how that works for ya. :)

Evita
November 7th, 2009, 06:49 AM
Yeah, too legit, I usually get the SWF down in 3 minutes. I stand at the sink and just chug the first 16 oz., this contains the salt. I then follow up with 16 more ounces of just fresh water. Never had a problem with that. OK, today is beginning of day 3. Have felt a cough rattling around and since my husband has had the flu with a cough I'm hoping it's just a detox symptom:(. So here's hoping that this isn't the start of the flu. Just got the SWF down and waiting for the results, so to speak then on to my first batch of lemonade. Hope everyone's mornings are going well. I'll probably get some yoga in in a bit to see if that helps move things around. I haven't had any major detox symptoms yet so maybe this cough is just one of them. I'm really hoping. OK, I'll check in later! :D

Well, I set out what I wanted to do. Today will be my second day on the fast and so far am doing well. I will be having my first SW on this fasting within an hour. I have been drinking the Smooth Move tea but I feel that I need something stronger so the SW will just help it along. Whenever I do go to the bathroom, I do see that my body is releasing a yellowish mucous but to be honest it was already doing this on the day I was on my "ease in" broth day but I'm seeing more of it. Still, I feel like my body wants to release more and it needs help.

Yesterday I was feeling lethargic, and cranky, just down right moody. My body feels like it's coming down with a fever but at the same time I feel that body feels "lighter" somehow..kind of hard to explain. Today I feel slightly more energized. How long will I feel this way, no telling. Like I said I will be doing my SW soon, and I'm hoping I will be ridding any bulk that I feel that's there.

Tomorrow I will be doing my first Detox bath on this fasting. It's very simple recipe. The recipe is at the bottom. I add a few droplets of Lavender oil (or you can add your favorite scent). It totally relaxes me, and helps me out a great deal with this fasting. Don't forget while doing this fasting you need to pamper yourself, it'll make you feel better. While at home burn some oil, put on some relaxing music in the background. All this makes a word of difference.:)

2. Baking Soda and Epsom Salt Bath
Salt isn't good for you if too much of it is added to your food. But you can certainly add a lot of salt into your bath and reap more benefits than harm. This baking soda and Epsom salt bath is one of the best detox bath recipes around. It is the simplest one to prepare too. Just add a cup of Epsom salt and two cups of baking soda into your bath. Salt and baking soda are composed of minerals that can aid in the body's detoxification process. In fact, it can make the water feel silky, thus leaving your skin velvet smooth. You can also add glycerin into your bath to keep your skin from becoming dry. Put less than a tablespoon if your skin is oily. For added fragrance, you can put drops of any essential oil of your choice.

Here's another one.

5. Vinegar bath
For this bath, you will need apple cider vinegar. Regular vinegar won't do plainly because it doesn't smell good. Just add a cup of apple cider vinegar into your warm bath. Soak in it for 40 minutes to detoxify your body. This bath can help relieve muscle stress and joint pains. It can also flush out excess uric acids from your body.

Hi Everyone,

I'm back! I completed my first clense in early Feb this year & was successfull in sticking with it the full ten days, felt fantastic, lost 24lbs. Did not keep it on, but totally my fault as I went back to bad eating habits. I did keep half off untill i got an ankle injury in August so the lack of exercise has seen the other half creep back on too.:(

I previously lost 175lbs through rosemary conley & was slimmer of the year last year, but in the past 2 years i've gained 77lbs due to going back to my old greedy ways! I really want to catch this & become healthier while i'm still relatively young! (27)

Anyway! I've had so much pressure from others not to try this again as they think it's the wrong way to loose weight, but as we all know it's not jsut about the weight loss. I feel i've become so unhealthy recently that I just need a fresh start. I need to rid the cravings I have for everything lol I have also become quite dependant on codine for back pain & last time i was on the clense I didn't take one pill & also found that my back pain reduced considerably naturally! So I'm hoping for more of the same this time.

I'm in it for the long haul this time & am completely prepared, going for 40 days so will really need your support again guys :)

Started today so day 1 going good so far! I'm going swimming & spa with mum later then home for the x factor then i'm sure i'll want bed, I remember the bad head I got the first time around!

Day 3. I'm off for a run and then gym. I know I will only be able to do one tenth of what I normally can, but in my experience any exercise during MC is good. It keeps the metabolism up.

I haven't had any headaches or back pains since my first MC. Not that I want to feel achy, but not having any pains it makes for a very uneventful MC. :(

Hope everyone is having a good Saturday.

OK, getting some lemonade in. Did a moderately difficult yoga practice. VERY achy today which didn't happen last cleanse and I'm not in it to lose weight as I already eat well. OH well, everyone is different. Really hoping this is not my husband's flu... I'm not running a fever but boy do I feel like I could run one. I MIGHT do a little cardio later today but I'll see how I feel. Good luck to you Gillian and good to hear everyone is doing pretty well. How do you know if the fever is a flu fever or a detox fever? I would imagine detox would be low grade? Hmmmm... Alright, be well and I'll check in later. Let me tell you, I am USED to difficult exercise and on the cleanse it feels like I'm going against a boulder but that's the way it was last time. I just keep reminding myself to pay attention to what my body is telling me.

OK, I do think I'm getting the flu BUT I've read on older posts that many people have stayed on even with the flu and got over their flu's faster. I think of it this way: I'm drinking fresh lemon juice with a stable sugar and a spice that's good for circulation. You stay hydrated and you're not drinking gatorade or ginger ale. So, I'm sticking with it. 8)

OK, I DO have the flu. Body aches, headache, fever of 101.3 No nausea or vomiting. I'll just keep hydrated and keep cleansing. I'll let everyone know how it goes from here. It's early and you tend to feel worse in the evening. Oh well, fresh lemon juice can't be bad at this point. Like I said it's better than gatorade or sodas. Hopefully this will speed things along. Oh and I'm trapped in bed with a husband who is more than happy to get supplies for me and make it (he did this a few months ago so he knows the drill). OK, over halfway through day 3... this should be easy:(

Evening everyone,

Ah Evita you poor thing, sounds like you need to get your head down & sleep it off!

The first time I clensed I had to crawl to bed on the first evening, my head was on fire & pounding but this time round it's not as bad. I've been for a swim steam & sauna tonight so just sipping my tea then heading to bed myself. That's so cute you have your hubby their making your juices, I had a cold last week so still suffering a little & I thought too that the lemon juice will just help if anything.

So end of first day! Just spent the evening with my family who were tucking into chinese while I had a lemonde, smelt so good but i dont want to be fat for xmas, i want to be sparkly & healthy looking! we can do this :D

Hello everyone,

I'm just finishing up day one. I did MC once in 2007 but only lasted 8 days, and tried again in 2008 and did worse - only made it 5 days. I'm hopeful that my 2009 attempt will be better. I have Stanley Burrough's book, as well as Peter Glickman's, and I've read them both repeatedly for inspiration during my prior cleanses. But this time, I think a need a little more support. I've really been enjoying these boards, and they've been a TON of help. Hopefully, I'll be able to post an inspiring story for someone else one day, too!

End day 3, excruciating headache, high fever, body aches. I did get 6 lemonades in though. My husband had H1N1 a few days ago and I now have it on top of some detox symptoms. I'm sure that's why the headache is so bad. I have never had a headache like this. Must be flu mixed with detox. I'm worried about the SWF in the morning but I'll do the best I can. End of Day 3....Evita...everything you are speaking of happend to me yesterday too...I was exposed to the flu as well....worried that it was,I kicked that cayenne up a few notches and think it helped! I felt much better today. Could be flu could be detox....Hopefully you'll feel better tomorrow. I would do what your body can handle with the excercise...if I go hard one day on the cleanse I usually feel really run down the next day probably because your body is looking for nourishment to replenish those muscles used. Rest up!

Oo quick question!

Last time i was on the clense i was having 6 lemonades a day with 2 tablespoons of MS in each thinking that I was getting 1200 cals a day, but I read on a past recently that 1 tablespoon of MS has on 50 cals!? I thought it was 100 in each.

Can someone clear this up for me, as I'll up them, would rather be on 1200 a day, no wonder i lost 24lbs in 10 days last time if i was only on 600 cals per day! lol

Thank you!

Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts and encouragement. I'm afraid this is a full blown flu. No way around it. Headache, high fever, feel horrible but I did get my SWF down and am waiting for it to work. Hopefully I'll start getting relief today but H1N1 is so prevalent here that it is most likely that. Slimmer: if you want the 1200 you have to drink 12 10 oz glasses. I can only manage six but maybe I'll get more in today. Fever is very high, almost 102. Horrible. Beginning of Day 4 for me. We'll just see how it goes. Best to everyone.

On day 7 here, wow didn't think I could make it so far. Going to 10 and now that seems like a piece of cake. Question about coming of the cleanse. Does anybody know when it's ok to have coffee again? Do I have to wait until the 3rd day off or is it ok the 2nd when I have my vegetable soup for dinner?

GOOD LUCK, it's easier then you think.....most of the time

Good luck Evita! You really are doing the right thing to stick with the MC. When sick, our bodies naturally want to go into a fasting state anyways. And a fever is our #1 defense, especially in the case of H1N1, where we don't have any natural antibodies to help out. I'll add another nod to upping the cayenne if possible too, it really will help.

Someone told me that they saw a bumper sticker you could buy online that said "H1FU". Hope that got a little smile out of you. :D

EFT that was VERY funny. Did make me smile. Very sick but no vomiting or diarrhea other than the SWF is STILL working from this morning a bit. I didn't do different so my body must be trying to do something. I did some reading about staying on or off and it just seemed odd to come off since they tell you to drink sports drinks etc. This is just as good for you as any sports drink without all the fake garbage in it. I don't even drink things like that so I'm glad I have this. I did up the cayenne. Last time I did it I worked myself up to more. I actually like it with more pepper in it. Best to everyone. I'll check in later.

Hi Everyone. It is exciting to see all the people who are just starting the fast over the past couple of days - good for you! Day 14 for me. I really want food today!!! I think because I was working in the yard all day (65 degrees here in MA which is a treat!) and my habit is to come in, have something small to eat with a beer (Miller time!) but I can't. So I jumped on this board and already I feel better. My body allowed me to do full-blown raking today without any aches or pains. I haven't had that for 5 years, so I know that I am healthier now and very excited. I am looking to stay on this until Friday and start my OJ on Sat with a slow schedule back to food.

Evita, hang in there girl! I am so sorry that you are sick. My son was very sick last week and I feel blessed that I did not get it (yet)! I think lemonade has a lot of vitamin c in it, so maybe that will help flush it out as well. At any rate, if you can stay on you are more than likely, as you said, using a more nutritious method to nourish your body than the over-the-counter remedies and drinks. Good luck and stay low key.

Has anyone ever went from MC to water fast? I wonder if there would be any benefits to it.

I'm checking out for now. Too many posts here that belong to a blog.

Mol: yes people have switched from MC to a water fast BUT the water fast requires bed rest and most of the time supervision as they can be very intense. Do you have a naturopath you can consult about doing a water fast? They'd be the most understanding. If not I've seen many websites that take you through the steps of water fasting and transitions. But you're bed ridden. I'm sorry if our responses seem like blogs. I do my best to tell everyone how I'm doing and also answer questions. I'm hope you're doing OK. MC day 4 3/4 down with major flu but I'm hanging in there. Best to everyone.

OK, end of day 4. Flu is still around but my fever suddenly dropped. It's been very high so maybe I'll come out of this faster because of the MC. Let me tell you the SWF this morning with high fever was no joke but all the cayenne and stable sugar and Vit C must be doing something. I'm cautious because I know fevers can rebound with H1N1 but here's hoping for a break in the fever. Hope everyone is well tonight. Hang in there if you're having a tough time, it's worth it. Best to all. Time for a movie, tea and then bed. Blessings

Hey everyone! I’m new to the site...I’m on my day 4 of the cleanse and I’m doing okay. It’s only been hard when I see food, especially when I’m preparing food for my 3year old. It’s just such a bad habit to take a bit of what I’m making for her. I haven’t been hungry but I am craving food! I just want it not because I’m hungry but just to have it. I’m hoping that feeling go’s away. I also have redness on my checks which I believe are from the cayenne pepper just a small side effect I’m guessing! And I also have really noticeable bags under my eye which I find a bit weird since I have been going to bed a little earlier since I started the cleanse. But I’m hanging in there! Good Luck everyone! We can do this!

Day Two
Lethargic and aimless for most of the day with lots of recurring pain from my injury site on the right of my head behind my ear that disabled me for the day; much worse later into the evening so had an early night after my SM tea.

Day Three
Still in pain from the injury sites especially the side of my head behind the right ear and my neck ….lots of ear ringing and I cannot tolerate any loud noise as it makes the pain worse: again much worse in the evening.

Day Four
I am still stiff from the painful de-toxing of injury sites in the past three days………..however thankfully today I don’t have the debilitating pain only soreness down the right side of my neck and that side of my head particularly behind the ear.
Very cold in my hands and feet and have the sniffles so off to have a soak in a nice hot Epsom salt bath and have a warm MC lemonade.
I have lots of research reading to do so am going to snuggle up with lots of books afterwards and take it easy for the rest of the day here……..all the best to all you successful Lemonheads out there

Hi Slim and Christene and everybody, it sounds like everyone is hanging in there. Cold is normal especially the first few days. That was true for me. I wasn't cold the whole time, however, so it may or may not pass. I worked out a lot so that kept blood moving. I'm sorry for all the aches and pains Christene, I hope they continue to improve. I am still running a fever from H1N1 but have persisted in doing the cleanse. The SWF does help in the morning even if for a short while. I thought my fever was going down but it was back up to 100.4 this morning. I hope this passes soon. Day 5. Hope everyone is well.

missrussell: how's your water intake? Are you getting an additional half your body weight in water? I drink an addition 64-80 oz of water during the day. That might help with your facial 'issues'. Sometimes the skin becomes sensitive. It is our largest detoxifying organ so you may find that you may get little rashes. You may want to try lighter skin products as some are going to increase sensitivity. If you have a place where you can get a nice facial that would move fluid from your face. As would a good sweaty yoga practice or other form of exercise. I use a product by Dr. Haushka that's just a serum for people with sensitive skin. It works like a charm for me during this cleanse and since I've been sick I've been unable to exercise. I am hoping that I'm not sick for the rest of this cleanse but what to do? Just some ideas. Or just give yourself a gentle massage around your eyes etc. Best to you.

Hi everyone,

I've got a really bad throat tonight :( when i looked it's all white at the back of my throat, and kills when i swallow & pains up back of nose, apart from that i'm great :)

The daily swim is good, keeping the headaches at bay i think, although i didn ahve a little nap this afternoon, it's starting to come back now so i'll only stay up till i can stand it, cant go bed yet as only had 4 drinks so far, need to fit another 2 in! & my tea!

I'm aiming for 40 but to be honest will just go till my body says i'm done! LOL

Gillian, seriously have your throat looked at. White in the back, by your tonsils? Sounds like strep throat to me - pus can gather there when you have an infection - be careful! If you have any type of temp, you definitely hav a throat infection.

I am in the evening of Day 15. I want to go to Friday, but I just can't stop thinking about food. And because of that, I am getting sick of the lemonade. I will see how the rest of the night goes, and I want to hang in, even to detox a little more, but the devil in me says that I will continue to detox into a week while I come off of the cleanse. I don't know. I'll fill you in when I can resolve the issue. I have to follow my body, I want to rather than force it. So we'll see.

I hope everyone is well and happy. Be strong, and for those of you going through symptoms and sickness, hang in there. It is a tough time of year with everything going around, but you'll end up healthier and able to fight whatever else may be coming this winter!

Thanks swips, maybe i'll pop to the docs tomorrow, i dont actually have any tonsis but it's the back of my throat, it's eased off a little as i've been drinking loads tonight, I'll see how it is in the morning. Apart from that nothing else wrong, not hungry but am thinking of food on & off, especially steak lol. I'm just going to make my tea then get tucked up in bed.

I find myself looking forward to waking up in the morning to see how i feel & weigh haha :)

Yes this takes will power but once you've found it it's like a little gem isnt it! Anyone I speak to thinks i'm mad so kinda just keeping it to myself. They'll see the results soon enough ;o)

I think i'll do what i did last time i clensed & just have 6 drinks a day, i was originally alarmed that i was only having 600 cals a day but i was fine last time, i'll just take what i need i guess!

Keeping strong for forty days!

only 37 left to go :D

Swips: definitely go with what your body is telling you. If your reserves are tapped out there is always another time to cleanse.

Gillian: I missed the part about the white in the back of your throat. Definitely get that checked especially if it could be strep. It could also be post-nasal drip but you need to be careful.

Me: I could only get about 5 drinks in today. I'm really doing my best having this flu. I've had a lot of water so that's a good thing. This will be the first day I haven't gotten at least 6 in. I guess that's just the way I'm feeling today. I can't put more inside. Just doesn't feel right. Must be the flu part coming in. Almost end of day 5. Day 6 tomorrow! Best to everyone and take care.

So I have a theory....My Day 2 was the worst...had BAD headaches etc...I'm assuming due to coffee. I like to cleanse when I need to get grounded, of course to lose a few too, but that is not the main reason. I really look forward to the mental clarity and rejouvination (sp?) that it gives me. So anyway, I feel like the detox symptoms I've been having aren't so bad this time around...worn out by the end of the day, a little achy too.....could this be because this is my 3rd one of the year and I have had a shorter time to become toxic? Or maybe my body and mind just knows its time to do this because it needs it?? Hmmm just thoughts!

I am on day 13 and feeling GREAT. Cheated yesterday and today by having some black coffee but have made the personal vow to get back to reality. Only 7 more days to go and the the RE-ENTRY as I like to call it. I did a 10 MC a few weeks ago and was so pleased with the results that I embarked on another 10 day journey. At the concclusion of the 2nd 10 day MC I realized 10 MORE days would be a better TREATMENT. This is how I view the MC. TREATMENT for my health and well being. I am 56 years young and my 77 year old neighbor is taking the 20 day journey with me. I will continue this route doing 10 and 20 MC's until I can switch over to 100% vegetarian eating. I will continue to have eggs which are organic and home produced. I just LOVE the taste and versatility of eggs. I don't expect the transition to take place immediately but I certainly have a goal. Man, I feel SO SO SO SO GOOD when I am on MC. Having a bit of HUNGER but this will pass. It's all GOOD.:)

Good morning Lemon Heads!

I'm back after 7 months. I have a little story to tell, so bear with me.

After my last cleanse, I was so excited and felt fully prepared to eat only whole foods and continue being super healthy. After just a few weeks, I sunk all too quickly back into bad over-eating habits. Overall I'm a relatively healthy eater - definitely not a SAD American diet person, however I do overeat and I eat way too much cheese. Over the summer I put on weight and lost all of my control. After that I decided not to do the MC any more because I needed to gain control myself and not just use the MC as a periodic "fix". .... if all I was going to do was sink back so quickly into bad over-eating habits.

Even though I've read "The End of Overeating", "The Omnivore's Dilemma", and "In Defense of Food" (all excellent books), I still have proved myself unable to keep control over my eating for more than just a few days. I know all the reasons in my head, but cannot seem to apply them.

So, I'm back and I have really big hopes this time. My biggest hope is that doing this cleanse will kick start me into the habits I know and love. I love doing the cleanse. I love eating whole foods. I know it's not just my own lack of self control, but rather that processed foods trigger and encourage bad eating habits. I know I don't need the giant portions. I know all of this and am planning on meditating on all of these things during this 10-day cleanse. I've done longer cleanses in the past, but this time I'm just going to do 10 days for a variety of reasons. One day at a time.

So, I drank my tea last night. Did the SWF this morning - and for the first time ever (I've done 4 cleanses before) the SWF did not produce the flushing results I've always gotten. Perhaps it's the salt, perhaps - - - I don't know! I live in Mexico and the salt I have is natural sea salt made naturally in a tidal lagoon. I've never used it before and it's the best I can get around here. Who knows. Hopefully it will work better tomorrow. So, I'm now going to do yoga in my home instead of going to class, just in case it kicks in later.

Anyway - just wanted to say HI to everyone. I hope there are some others out there that can relate to what I'm saying and that we can all encourage each other (the best part of this forum!). Who else is on about the same timing as me?

Here goes!

Evita

CStar: How close together are your cleanses? If they're too close you may not have built up the reserves you need for another cleanse. If they're 3 months apart those would more likely be detox symptoms but if you're doing this every month and a half then it could be that your nutritional reserves are actually down. Just something to think about.

Col: Good for you for just going 10 days for a fresh start and then working on a new plan. Have you seen a nutritionist? I'm going to go against what a lot of people are aiming for here and tell you (and everyone else) that a raw diet is NOT for everyone. I know that if a person's digestive fires are week then the worst thing you can do is put cold food into an already cold digestive system... do you digest things well or poorly? Cooked foods especially in the mornings are best for most people. I nice bowl of oats with maple syrup and a handful of almonds and dried fruits can be a great start to the day and leave you satisfied but it stokes the digestive system slowly to get it going. I know that I cannot eat cold food in the mornings especially. I think sometimes we read so much it makes our heads spin. I think for those people who feel raw is right for their bodies then they should do that. Others may not fit that mold as they shouldn't. I have a feeling that setting up high expectations for yourself and then going off track just once sets you up. I'm not a professional but I understand a lot of these issues.

Missrussell, that's great news!

Desert: how fantastic that you have your neighbor doing this with you! I'll have my first sip of lemonade to everyone's continued success!

I am on day 6. Still riding a low grade fever, aches and pains, headache. H1N1 is not a fun virus to have. That's for certain. I'm surprised I've been able to stick with this. It's been hard not to be able to get up and move around. My last cleanse I was able to exercise and do my usual things. I've been down with the flu for half of this cleanse. I am hoping that my temperature stays down today. It's wanting to stay in the low 90's and I really want it to be normal but what to do? So, did my SWF and now on with the day. I do check in since I'm pretty much bed ridden. Best to everyone today.

EVITA: Thanks for the thoughts. When I say whole foods I never meant to intend a raw food diet. I am not really interested in that. The bowl of oats with fruit and nuts is exactly my "cup of tea" in the mornings. I digest pretty well. I really look for whole foods and foods with a very short list of ingredients, all of which I know what they are. I also am now making all my own breads and have tried to make my own yogurt but have not yet been successful. My normal problem isn't so much what I eat - but how much of it. And, as I mentioned - I eat way too much cheese because I really love it. I've been there where I can enjoy small servings (and really enjoy them) and not have it all the time. Just need to get back to that. Really enjoying every taste and eating mindfully (instead of mindlessly). I'm a big believer that this cleanse really helps rid us of toxins which is really the primary reason I do the cleanse. Thanks for your thoughts. I appreciate it!!!

Deborah Sue: Looks like we're on the same schedule! We can do it!

this is my 3rd cleanse and i'm on day 2. i must say this is the hardest one of them. all i think about is food. the last 2 times, ofcourse were hard, but i didn't think about giving up. this time around i'm not sure if i can make it 10 days:( yesterday i was sooooooooooo hungry and mad i didn't know what to do with myself. i'm hoping to take it day by day and hopefully my weakness will go away. my main reason is to loose weight, for the party i'm having in the beginning of December, so maybe the thought of it will help me. i'm glad everyone is doing fine and keep up the good work my friends.

Evening everyone,

End of day four, felt a bit irritable today, been trying to keep busy, definately been feeling quite calm the rest of the time. Went for another swim, I've been swimming every day for half hour then enjoying steam sauna & spa as a little treat for keeping strong :)

I am feeling a bit hungry tonight but I think it's because my kids have been eating so much! haha

Anyway, planning on moving house soon so that's something new to keep my mind of things, is day four usually a hard one? I cant remember from first time round.

Quick update on weight & BMI:

Start weight : 256lbs
Current weight : 248
Start BMI : 41.3
Current BMI : 40

Keep strong everyone! Oh, throat's better today :) argh why am i so hungry!?! boredom? or just greedy pig lol

City: I would want to know how close your MC's have been. Do you have good nutritional reserves? You're saying you don't feel extremely toxic so I'm just wondering the last time you cleansed. Again, they could be normal detox symptoms OR if you're cleansing too close together it could be a reserve issue. Just thoughts. How's your water intake? Are you getting enough lemonade? Two big things. Also physical exercise is important.

Gillian, normal detox. Entirely. Probably bored more than anything else. Remember that 'real' hunger according to Peter is if you are craving fruits and veggies and healthy foods. Cravings are when we want the processed stuff, the junk and heavy foods. So if you're experiencing 'real' hunger then have more lemonade throughout the day and more water. It certainly can't hurt to have more lemonade if you stay within the limits. You're in it for the long haul. Congrats on your 4 days!!!! Very exciting!!!
When I look at 36 I think, ' wow Gillian's already down to just 36 days... wild!'.

Almost nearing end of day 6 for me. Still running a fever. This virus is moving at a CRAWL through my system but there is nothing I can do about it. Trying to get the last few lemonades in before tea.
I always check in so I'll see everybody in a bit. Gillian, you're probably in bed by now since it's 11.30 your time.

Patunia: YOU CAN DO IT GIRL!! I'm doing this cleanse and I have the swine flu! Still running a temp. I could have given up and said: oh, well.. not the right time but I am not gonna do that. Day's 1/2/3 are always the hardest, remember that. Make sure you're getting enough lemonade and water. If you're really hungry up both of those. You're heavy detox days are the 3rd and the 7th but they could be a day on either side of those. I know I've got another major day in tomorrow so maybe my fever hanging on is just one of my detox symptoms? I just have to go with it at this point. :p

Hey colibrimhs! I think I've done a few of these with you before....I too have healthy eating habits but agree that the cleanse always helps me get back on track when I m feeling out of control.

Evita.....First one was January, then April/May, then now....so pretty spread out...I did one October 08 and I can't remember when the other one was....last year sometime..so I don't know?! The first 4 were pretty rough but I have always eaten pretty healthy...especially in the past 2 years....

Hi Everyone. End of Day 16 here. Evita, you are right, I decided earlier tonight to listen to my body! I still feel like I can hang in there until Friday, but since last night I just think about food and my body is craving apple sauce, tomato, etc. I think it is time to stop. I did two other cleanses - 7 days and 10 days - so 16 is pretty good. I plan to come back again in April for another one. Twice yearly will work well for me to keep my thyroid in check (I only have one, so I have to be good to it ;)).

I plan to go off the cleanse slowly; I will continue my lemonade and swf in the day time and have something small when I come home from work. I will see how this goes over the next couple of days - small may be an orange or banana, tomato, apple sauce, or something else, and I plan to keep it as close to liquid as I can. I don't plan to go onto meals or veggies until this weekend or later - it depends on how I feel. Right now I am not hungry, but I think my body is craving, like you said Evita, to replenish my reserves. A healthy person is a happy person, and I have to listen to myself.

So I will be around for a few more days while I go off my cleanse, and I can't wait to see how everyone does over the next few days! Stick with it, and happy chi!

Hey CStar! - Great to see you here! I love finding some of the same people back here time after time.

Just finishing Day !. All is good. Hope the SWF works for me tomorrow morning! Sitting by the fire trying to get warm and getting ready to make my tea. Actually feeling a little achy but hoping this is just starting de-tox and not pre-flu.

Keep going everyone - we can do it!

Hi colibrimhs; nice to see you around again and boy can I relate to your story. It's not difficult to do the cleanse the hard part is INBETWEEN the cleanse.... For me anyway.

I'm gearing up to start a cleanse soon but I'm not mentally prepared yet so I'm waiting.

It's great to be able to come back here, do the cleanse and get support. It's like the 90,000 mile check up. :) You'll do great, I know it.

Cool CStar!

Swips: good plan. Be careful coming off that many days. The way Peter tells you to come off is to start with your 1st day with fresh squeezed OJ, then your second day with OJ and for dinner some homemade veggie soup eating mostly the broth, then your 3rd day the veggie soup with a salad at night and then back to normal eating slowly. I broke this cleanse the wrong way last time and it wasn't even that bad what I did eat. I was sick for a week. Read up on 'how to break the cleanse'. You'll save yourself a LOT of agony. 16 days is a lot longer than 10.

OK, end day 6. Onto day 7. Still fevered but persevering.

I am finishing day 4 and so far so good. Day 2 I was cold most of the day but yesterday was all right and today I have had a lot of sinus drainage. My goal is 10 days. My first cleanse was 10 days. I have started and stopped several times since but I feel like I will make it this time. I am following the book as I did the first time and the times that I fell by the way side. Wonder why the first MC was so much easier than the others? It is my plan to do another one in January.

Has anyone ever went from MC to water fast? I wonder if there would be any benefits to it.

I'm checking out for now. Too many posts here that belong to a blog.

I went from doing the master cleanser to a water fast. I agree with whoever said earlier that you're bed ridden. Absolutely true. I spent three days water fasting, basically laying down by the sun and reading, wrapped around in about five blankets and still cold. I live in LA too, sunny california. Any time I simply got up I had dizzy spells. While on the master cleanser I experienced no hunger pains or headaches as soon as day 2 hit for me on the water fast I had major headaches and hunger pains, although I will add one good thing. .... I had a little bit of cellulite that disappeared.

Thanks Evita! That made me smile reading that, & now only 35 days to go! haha Yes indeed I was in bed, although I have a problem!!! I cant sleep!! I think I'm tired, get to bed 11/11.30 as I have to be up at 6.30 to do the SWF before school run in morning but I just cant fall off to sleep! I wondered is it the sugar? Should I try & not have the lemonade past a certain time at night? This doesnt really make sense to me though as I can easily eat a chocolate bar & have a coffee right before bed & be asleep ten mins later! it's taking me over an hour to fall to sleep the past three nights:( I've been swimming every day so I thought that would help me sleep well.

Anyway! winge over haha, did the swf this morning & been to the toilet about 3 times, I guess things will start slowing down as i'm on day five, I just worry that I still have salt water inside me haha

Well I've found a cure for my boredom! My friend came to see me last night & he's going to work in australie in the new year & wants me to rent his house which is bigger than mine so I guess the next 35 days will be me packing up getting rid of junk & blitzing this place before I move out!

So I'm looking forward to a new year in a new home with an improved lifestyle after this clense, I love a fresh start me haha

Hmm not much else to say at the mo, lost another lb, so that's 8 altogether, slight sore head, sore throat still, I am a little hungry but have no idea what for so about to have my juice, at leat i'm not craving pizza & burgers anymore haha

Have a good day everyone! xx

Hey Slimmer.....I often get insomnia while cleansing too....I read it effects everyone different....Anything is normal on this thing right!! Good for you for going for 40! If it weren't for the inconvienience of the laxs I would try for longer!!

I still feel like this has been an uneventful cleanse.....not that I'm complaining! But besides being tired and a little achy after long days at work haven't had terrible detox symptoms. I blended up the pulp to mix into my drink yesterday, I read it had more cleansing properties...was pretty good actually!

Bring on Day 7!!!!

Hiya cstar,

I know what you mean, I've not really had too bad detox symptoms this time round, we must be healthier than last time?

Oh I do hope I'm able to sleep tonight, it's driving me crazy! I've been scrubbing the bathrooms today & swimming tonight so fingers crossed i'll drift off easier tonight!!

It is getting bitterly cold here & I keep looking at the winter coat I bought last year but it's a size ten! I'd need to loose at least 42lbs to fit in it I think! ah well, i'm on this for 40 days you never know huh!

Keep craving toast, I think it's the smell haha

I'm def liking the fact that my biggest trousers are loose :D I had to buy them a few weeks ago as i was just getting bigger & bigger again, so upsetting after loosing 175lbs in 2006/2007.

Sipping lemonade as we speak then I'll get back to scrubbing!

Hope everyone's well today, Evita, you feeling any better? xx

Thanks for the support ..........Healing hugz to you.............:)

The lemon juice should really help you as will the freshly squeesed OJ when you finish the cleanse .......as well as the MC lemonade keep drinking water at least four liters is suggested for the H1N1. Salt water in the morning, SWF is brilliant also try salt water nose spray to keep your nasal passages clean.

Thank you! I did the MC once before for 23 days and do not remember this bad headache, but I have been drinking ALOT of Coke lately before this cleanse, so I am hoping that the caffeine detox is what I am going through. Well off for my SWF, so hopefully that will help. Going for 12 days this time.

Detox days can be intense everybody so hang in there. Days 1/2/3 and 7 can be very hard but everybody is different and every cleanse is different. Welcome to the new people. My naturopath has advised me to cut this cleanse short so day 7 (today) will be my final day. She knows I want to participate in the January cleanse and with this virus she feels I might need a little more nourishment than what I'm currently getting at this time. She's very open to the MC so I trust her opinion. I'll transition tomorrow and will look forward to doing this with anyone who is planning on doing this is Jan. Then I'll make it a quarterly cleanse. I'm so happy I found this over the summer. I don't need it for weight loss. It's a resetting of my perspectives. It's been tough this time with H1N1 but now that I'm immune to this strain I know I'll be back in January for a great cleanse time!!! Anyhow, I'm proud of myself my sticking with the cleanse through H1N1 and I wish I was permitted to press on by I know my naturopath knows what's best for me at this time. I just thought I'd share and I'll check in through out the day. You can do this everybody!

Insomnia was common for me this time around. Last time I slept like a baby. We'll see what happens in January. This certainly is an interesting journey, isn't it?

thanx Evita for the support. i know the first 3 days are always the hardest, but this time is almost impossible to get through. it's day 3 and i must admit i cheated a little. i ate some penuts today and last night a sour pickle. but i'm not quitting. i also can not take the taste of lemonade anymore. it feels like i've been drinking it already for a month. my bowel movements are almost not happening. worst of all i am so mad and angry i am scared to open my mouth to anyone, so i won't start yelling. sorry for all this complaining, hopefully tomorrow will get better. everyone be strong, we r all here for eachother.

Evening everyone, come to the end of day five & doing ok, hopeing my hours swim tonight will aid my sleep! I've never had problems sleeping before, love my bed so this is driving me crazy a bit!:(

I put my weight down on my wrist earlier when i went to sit down & now it's illing, does anyone find they are more sensitive when they hurt themselves on this clense?

I'm a bit disappointed with my weight loss, only 8lbs down & I expected more as I'd gained so much recently. Ah well, least I'm getting clensed :)

Oh, I seem to have a BM when i wake which I presume is from the tea the night before, then I have to go to the toilet about 3 or 4 times after swf ut then that's it, I don't have any other bm, is that normal??

I measured out half my body weight on oz of water today & had it chilling in the fridge, that's 125 oz water though so i've only managed half & only managing 6 lemonades a day too.

Fingers crossed for me guys that I'll get to sleep tonight! :D Hope everyone is well, Evita hope you're better soon, well done for your 7 days xx

Patunia......
Try some limes too and agave nectar(I use the light)....Its actually really good and refreshing! I can't take the cayenne in the drink so I take "shots" throughout the day...maybe 2-3...I actually think I get more of it that way. I also pulled off the pulp and mixed it all in the blender...that was good too and I read it had more cleansing properties! Hope that helps!

Slimmer .......
Same thing here I have similar BM experience....I can't get through all my water but most of it...Not to be too gross or graphic but first 2 are more solid then the later are liquid, so I'm assuming that that means that stuff is getting out!!
AND REMEMBER ANYTHING IS NORMAL ON THE CLEANSE!!!! AND EACH ONE IS DIFFERENT!!!!

Speaking of.....In the past I've had vivid dreams of food while on the cleanse....always had a form of an eating disorder, have been dedicated to "adulthood" help for it the past year and half...not that the issues are exterminated but more so under control...
Soooo...this time around not only for getting back on track with losing a few lbs, and NOT going out partying so much, my MAIN reasons were to get my head on straight (I knew thats why I was going out so much!), help my tendencies for depression, and lower my BP....
Dreams this time have been about family issues... and last night and exboyfriend that broke my heart a year plus ago!! WEIRD....even though Im over it and in a happy new one, there must be something beneath the surface that still bothers me!!! Well I am elated to get THAT TOXIN OOOUUUUTTTT!!!! Ha Ha ha.

The Master Cleanse is so intruiging.....Even though it can really suck sometimes...Just remember that you are naturally healing yourself, and the amazing cleansing principles and real life evidence are truly epic.

Sorry....off my soap box....Keep it up Y'all! Bring On Day 8!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Hi,
I apologize for this being in the wrong section, I did sent a private message out to Deborah, as I saw she was viewing the same thread but I don't know if it went through, I did do the cleanse for three days and I had to stop I have an allergy to lemons, and doc told me to avoid citrus because they trigger my migraines, grapefruit I tolerate fine. Lemons have always given me anything from an itchy nose to severe allergic reaction depending upon when, is there an alternative to lemons?

Hi everyone,

Been for my hours swim then spa, I'm actually not feeling too great, when i was in the spa my heart was pounding, & now I'm home I'm having spasms in my tummy & left hand side of lower back, is that where my kidneys are? Also discomfort in middle of chest like i get when i have hunger pains . I heard someone say day 7 can be a bad detox day do you think that's what it is? I have a twisted spine & am usually on codine & voltarol every 4 hours which i jsut stopped taking & have been fine apart from usual aches, just bit worried.

Ok apart from that i'm going strong, maybe I've just worn myself out, day 6, 10lbs down, 36 days to go,

Hold tight everyone xx

Hi it's me, Colibri - Day 3 .....

Great to see everyone's posts. This gets easier every time around. Yeah, I'm only on Day 3 but I'm so used to the "routine" now that I'm not feeling food deprived. I always cook better when I'm on the cleanse - go figure! I've been really freezing and find it hard to get warm. It's been cold in the mornings but then when the sun comes out I go soak it up and it feels so great. Hope to do a sauna tomorrow, which I've never done on the cleanse, but know it will help get more toxins out (and will get me warm!). I"ll let you know how it goes.

I realized that the reason the SWF didn't work for me on Day 1 was because I'm using extremely coarse sea salt and measuring 2 tsp this way is not as much as 2 tsp finely ground salt (probably only half). So I ground up the salt and Days 2 and 3 the SWF worked like a charm (not charm-ing, but...).

Slimmer: I like your comment "I love a fresh start me". I agree!

Res: Great to see you here too - you're always so great for support. I agree very much with your comment "It's not difficult to do the cleanse, the hard part is INBETWEEN the cleanse."

giorgialee: Even if the others bailed on you - your support group is here! It really makes all the difference.

CStar: I know what you mean about uneventful. I've never had severe detox symptoms in 4+ cleanses, but I know it's working and I do love feeling more energetic and alive. Your dreams are so interesting - great way to get rid of emotional toxins too!

Deborah Sue: Was your headache better today? I hope so! We're on Day 3 together. Yoga was great for me today, but I did feel a little lightheaded and some poses did make my head pound.

Evita: Good job getting through this with H1N1 and good job listening to a professional that you trust. See you back in January!

I'm sleeping better than ever and I have more energy during the day. Food is not clogging me up and making me sluggish! Love it!

Keep it everyone! We're all in this together!

My son was in a play tonight and afterwards there was a potluck and it all was HEALTHY food, boy was that hard...lots of brown rice dishes and salads, etc. I just stood near everyone with my lemonade and used every ounce of willpower I had, I DID IT! Looking forward to tomorrow, Day 5!:) By the way, I started Sunday night with my tea, and weighed in at 191 and tonight I weigh 177, 14 pounds in 4 days!!! PSYCHED!!!

Morning all!

Just starting Day 4. Got up early to do my SWF because I want to go to the gym early this morning, get some exercise, then try the sauna.

Very vivid dreams last night....some involving swimming and some involving lots of snow. One part involved a big pile of burgers that my husband had grilled. I'm not a big burger person, and even in the dream I didn't really want it, but started to prepare it figuring if I didn't get one then they'd all be gone. I started to put some guacamole on it but never got any further than that in my dream. On past cleanses I've had dreams about eating by mistake, but this was different - I didn't even want it but somehow felt obligated. Glad I didn't even eat it in the dream.

Deborah Sue - hope that grinding your coarse salt helps alot!

Have a great day, all you LemonHeads!!

Afternoon Everyone, day 7 of 40 & going strong :D Only 37 days left :) so much eaiser to think of in days, when I put it in weeks i get a little depressed haha

I'm still haivng twinges in my back but nothing like last night thankfully, I was actually a little worried last night & thought about throwing the towel in.

I've been for another swim & spa this morning, wasn't relxaxing as I planned as my sister came too then proceeded to lecture me about my sillyness for cleansing, I wish people would let me get on with it:rolleyes:

Ssnelle : wow your weight loss is fantastic, that should keep you going, I've lost 12lbs as of today I think i'd lost more at this stage the first time round but it's still cool 8)

Deborah Sue: thank you, just taking one day at a time seems to be working for me, don't think of the whole things just breaking it down into 10 day blocks :)

Cstar: don't be silly you're not on a sop box haha, I personally find it very theraputic doing the cleanse, I feel very calm most of the time & at peace with everything, apart from when my sister ruined my spa morning, that kinds pee'd me off a little lol :p

Colibrmhs: I agree, I've found this cleanse much easier than first tme around, day seven already!! If I'd been going for 10 it's nearly up! I think as sI know i'm going for fort days it's not really seemed that long, want to get into my twenties!!! I've been having sauna's, how was yours this morning? they feel great right? :) the spa on the other hand raises my blood pressure & I nearly passed out when i got out of it this morning oopsie! :o

Evita: if you're still around I hope you're feeling much better, how's your transition to eating food gone?

Right I'd better go do a few chores, I'll check in later, god am I achey! That was another hours swim I managed this morning :)

Bye for now xxx

Boy what we don't get happy over.........:) Oh well what ever it takes.... I still dont have much energy,,,, totally wiped out. Luckily Its been an easy week at work....

I would prefer to just sit around and read, take empsom salt baths, and just hang out which is so not like me. I guess I need it...... Im paying for all the wines, beers and chocolates that Iv consumed since my last MC. Oh well, they were worth it at the moment.

Well have a great FRIDAY....... KEEP JUICING........

Hello all-

Well ending my day 5. Felt up and down today, feeling awful at times and great at others? I feel a bit weak today also.

For those of you with the SWF not working, it works well to heat up the water with the salt in the water, and drink warm (and I am sure you know to use sea salt). Today I was in a hurry so I did the tea instead of the flush in the morning, but boy I won't do that again, later in the morning I had bad cramping for over 2 hours.

Good luck to you all, cannot believe tomorrow is Day 6.

When I weighed I could not tell that I had lost any weight because the little marks are hard for me see but I would guess 2 or 3 pounds (definitely LESS than 5) but I have lost inches. I have not taken my measurements but my clothes are considerably loser. I would like to lose about 15-20 pounds but I am doing the cleanse for health reasons. I have not cheated and I am doing my best to follow the instructions exactly so I may be very close to the weight I should be even though I would like to be thinner

Since we can talk about unmentionable stuff on this forum I would like to warn older ladies like myself about the “Butt Pee”….. Get some Depends and be prepared. As we get older our muscles are not as strong as when we were younger and accidents do happen.

Have a question… I use the Celtic salt and it appears to have sand in it. Does anyone else have that problem? No matter how much I heat the water and stir the salt there is something in it that does not dissolve and it looks like sand to me.

7 down and counting

Onion: Those are just minerals. Good stuff. No worries if you don't get them down or if you do get them down.

Doing the sauna was SOOOOOO nice yesterday. So relaxing and felt so good sweating it all out - just visualizing all those toxins exiting my body - yeah. Can't wait for the next one on Monday!

My wife and I are on day 4. The salt water is TOUGH to get down.....not liking it at all. I am down 10lbs, she is down 8. I am feeling awfully hungry at night, it is a struggle to stay clean, but so far....so good.

Aaaah I did it! Today is the first day off my 6th cleanse. I have been lurking this time and not posting as I started a cleanse in June and made it ....1day! Goes to show that you reallly need to prepare yourself mentall before you start to be successful.

My detox symmptoms were the strongest ever this time. I didn't wiegh myself - was really just looking for the cleansing and healing effects and it worked!!

Want to encourage all of you who are just starting or in the middle of their cleanse. Go one day at a time and then before you know it you will have reached your goal. I always number the days on the calendar that are my goal and I get great pleasure from crossing off each day after I have completed it!!!!

I will be back the first of January for my annual "start the year off right" cleanse--Good Luck and see you then.

MC 6 Day 30

Hello fellow cleansers. how is everyone doing? looks like you are all hanging in there, YAY :)!! I'm finishing up day 30 with my lax tea right now. I can't believe how quick 30 days has gone by and I am still standing stong, praise God. no cravings what so ever, which has been a huge blessing. I don't enjoy the smell of food at all, as my sense of smell is extremely sensitive.I had another migraine last night, which went away with a ton of water. I have enjoyed a few food dreams here and there, but not as many I as I used to have on past cleanses. this cleanse is so different and in a way more natural to do. I find that when I think of food I get the food dreams. when I look at food I get a quick craving, but I get rid of it before it consumes me. I must say, this has been the EASIEST cleanse I have ever been on. I have come to conclusion that the more I don't think about what I am doing and just go with the flow of my every day routine, the easier this cleanse gets. last time I was on my 40 day cleanse, I read cook books, watched cooking shows, looked at people eat, went to dinner parties, etc. I was very much involved with everyday activities and socialized more than this time. and I believe that's why it was harder last times. I still do what I have to do as far as everyday activities go, but I have been turning down most of the socializing events. Also, no one knows I'm on a fast again, and that has been HUGE. no one to nag me about getting off the cleanse, YAY :D:):):D:) I have 10 more days left as of tomorrow :)...wow, already getting close to the end. I have great skin and my tounge is pink. I feel good in general. I still get hit hard with low energy right around 6 P.M. but that's given when consuming so little calories. the only downside this time is my bleeding gums. man oh man has my mouth been bloody lately ! My gums just bleed randomly whenever and wherever at anytime :(. which sucks, but oh well. I have to have some kind of pain, right?!! :D Anywho, make sure you stay strong and don't give up, dear lemon heads. It's all is your minds, people. and if I can control my thoughts, so can you. :)

Good Morning all of my fellow Lemonheads,,,, Well Im starting day 6 today. Time has just flown by. This time around Im so tired, totally exhausted cant wait to have some strength to do something. Oh well thats my whine for the day.

Ssnelle: Yes I too have vision problems when I do the MC.... I don't normally need glasses but during my fast I cant see with out them. Last time when I finished the fast my vision went back to normal. I figure its from dumping so many toxins out of my system..... This times seems to be worse for me.

Colibrimhs: How are you doing.... Were both on the same day... Hope your doing well. Hang in there.

Way to go Missrussell55 10 days Im so proud of you for getting to your goal. I hope the following information helps you: on page 25 of Stanley Burroughs book it says the following: Drink several 8 oz. glasses of fress orange juice as desired... (this should only be freshly squeezed) for the following reasons:

Processed Juices

* Bottle juice is pasteurized and the nutrients are depleted.
* Juices made from imported produce may carry traces of banned pesticides.
* Juices from fruit concentrates do not contain the whole fruits and they may be nothing more than sugar water -- possibly made with chemicals in water from industrial sites.
* Acids from juices can leech metal from cans, causing canned juice to spoil.
* Wax and other chemicals found in juice containers can taint the juice.
* Shrink-wrapped juice cartons come under high heat that depletes enzymes in juice.

Natural Juices made at home
Natural juices contain all the vitamins, minerals, fluids, enzymes, amino acids and chlorophyll (with no toxic additives) found in raw vegetables - thereby helping the body by:

* Promoting growth and development
* Assisting with digestion
* Providing energy
* Protecting against oxidation
* Renewing cells
* Enriching Blood

Hope this helps you......

Hello all,

Day 7 and I am so done with this. I am so concerned with my eyesight but was glad to read from Deborah that this can be normal I am really having trouble with reading and feel like there are spots in my eyes. This did not happen last cleanses.

I am sure I will make it to day 10, but am bored I must admit. Take care all, good luck. Also, anyone else with vision issues? Thanks Deborah for your information, it is comforting to know someone else had this happen. Anyone else? Should I be running to the optometrist?

I'm wrapping up day 4 of my first cleanse. I plan on doing 10 days so I can be back to regular food in time for our family vacation. So far it's been surprisingly easy. In fact, I don't really feel any different. I was tired the first two days but now feel completely normal.

While I know the benefits of cleansing go way beyond weight loss, I must admit that was my main motivator. As of now, I have maybe lost 1 or 2 pounds. This seems low to me. I am only drinking 5 or 6 glasses of lemonade a day and then lots of water. I usually use the full dose of maple, but periodically will cut it down to half. I am 30 to 40 pounds overweight, so it's not like the fats not there to lose.

Am I just being impatient? When do folks who are looking to lose weight start seeing the scale move?

Thanks for any words of wisdom you can throw my way! :)

Morning all!

Starting Day 7 here. Wow, this is going fast. It's funny how on the longer cleanses I didn't start thinking about food at this point, but since I'm now on the downswing of this 10-day cleanse I'm starting to want food again. I can't wait to wake up an actually get to look forward to coffee, fresh juice, tea, whatever.....waking up now and thinking about what I'm going to do and then remembering that my first thing drinking the salt water ... well, let's just say it keeps me in bed a little longer. I've already had mine today, so only three to go - woo hoo!

Yesterday I was so chilly in the morning I made a hot LA (minus the cayenne). Perfect. Think I'll do it again here soon, after one or two more runs to the bathroom :p

Deborah Sue: - Glad to see you're doing well! Great to be on the same schedule with you. I take a good whiff of everyone's food - my husband's coffee, my daughter's soup, etc. I made a fabulous dessert and they finished it in two days - so glad I didn't make it while off the cleanse cuz I would have eaten too much of it! I'm going to make it again soon after my cleanse for a party and plan just to have one small delectable taste of it and thoroughly enjoy that little bit. Ahhhh.

No real de-tox symptoms so far, but then again I never really have had major detox symptoms on any of my cleanses.

MC_No0B: I highly recommend doing the SWF your first morning (and every day) ... it really is great to get things "moving" and straight on outta there!

My gym is closed today so I won't get to do my sauna. But tomorrow morning I will do one after my yoga class. Can't wait!

Toolegittoquit: Way to go on 30 days! 10 more to go and you can do it! You are an inspiration!

Have a great day everyone! :D

So far everything is okay, no symptoms or anything aside from the hunger pangs during the first 2 days. I would love to make it all the way to 40 days, but right am just taking it a day at a time. Hi everyone, day 11 for me & going strong, down 16 lbs, no major detox syptoms, just yukky mouth & slight headaches but I just drink lots of water to clear both. Gosh, I do my swf at 7 am 7 have to leave house at 8.40 am but i'm still running to the toilet when i'm taking kids to school, close call this morning lol.

How's everyone doing? I did feel rather hungry last night & was tempted to stop at ten but i've committed to 40 & cleared my diary for it so want to do it, how's everyone else doing that're going for 40 days?

Starting Day 8.
Feeling a bit grumpy last night.
Stomach felt genuinely hungry this morning.
Was losing weight at almost 2 lbs per day, but haven't lost an ounce in the past two days. I think it's because I haven't gotten any real exercise since Friday. Going to yoga and the sauna today which I'm so excited about! That should help.
Feel like maybe this grumpiness is a toxin release, which is good.
Also feeling overwhelmed by a long list of to-do items. Yoga will help this. Plus my extra energy on this cleanse has helped me really plug away at stuff which is great!
Well, gotta run to the bathroom again!
Have a great day, all!

I am on my 4th day of my first MC. I am feeling pretty good and am certainly not hungry which is great. I am back to work after a long weekend and it's a little harder here because I eat emotionally to cope with boredom. I had really severe headaches on day 1 and 2 probably from caffeine withdrawal. It made me want to quit and just get something to eat and some caffeine, but I resisted. My friends wanted me to take Tylenol or Advil to relieve the pain, but I didn't want to put that in my system. I'm glad I stuck it out and am feeling so much better now. My main goal is to clear up chronic sinus problems I am having. I have been squirting steroids up my nose every night so I can breathe while I sleep and I'm hoping to stop. I'm so tired of not breathing well.

i nearly gag trying to get it down. in fact, just thinking about it makes me gag. i've always done it, with all of my cleanses, but this time, i am just really not liking it at all. has anyone had a successful cleanse without doing it? is the lax tea in the the morning as well a suitable substitute?? i just can't stand the flush.... the only part i like is the actual rinsing of my intestines and the feeling afterwards. i guess it all comes down to this: is the unpleasant 2 hours of dealing with the flush process actually worth it?? someone enlighten me....

Experience neck stiffness and soreness today.
Don't think it was my yoga class.
Don't think it's stress (though it certainly could be)
I actually think it's a de-tox symptom. I think I have something going on in there and I hope this is getting it out!

Hi,

My husband and I are on day 8 and doing great! This will be our last day as hubby has a colonoscopy (sp?) tomorrow. He is 74 and I am 63. His tongue has a really nasty coating, and mine not so much.

My question is, he has been on Prilosec for years. He has continued to take this during the cleanse and feels hungry constantly. I'm wondering if it is due to the Prilosec? Also, what are the chances of him not having to use the Prilosec after the MC? Any help you can give will be much appreciated.

We are planning on doing the MC again after we get back from Florida at the end of January.

Hi Ruth. Congratulations and Bravo on making it 8 days. :)

It's good that your hubby continued on the medication. It's always best to check with your doctor before stopping any meds. I doubt that the Prilosec caused the hunger. I've done approx 20 cleanses and I'm one of the few who is always hungry.

Regarding never having to take the meds again is a possibility. A lot of amazing things have occurred with people after cleansing, such as not having to take asthma or diabetes meds again. You never know. I hate to sound like a broken record but a doctors "OK" to stop the meds should be sought out before stopping any medications. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your hubby. :)

We will still be doing our Annual Cleanse by the time you get back and start yours. The Annual Cleanse starts January 1st and the numbers grow each year.

Again, congrats on making is 8 days. Have a great time in Florida!

Love,

Hi Marsh,

Because of my job I don't always swf so I'll switch to tea in the am and that's only on some of the work days. The tea is very unpredictable with my system. Give it a whirl and try doing the swf on the weekends only and the tea during the week. Think that may work for you?

Hi Rabbit and Welcome Aboard! :D

You've come to the right place. :) Way to hang in there the first 3 days. Those are usually the worst and by Day 4 you hear angels singing. ;) It's always such a relief to get to day 4.

The cleanse always helps my sinuses. This may sound weird but the air is "colder" breathing through the nose and obviously your sense of smell heightens. If you have chronic sinus problems don't be surprised if you release a lot of nasal gunk. It's all part of the show.

THANK YOU:)

Hi Radha. :)

Yes, Adrenal fatigue is nasty and goes hand in hand with thyroid issues. A cleanse will definitely help (been there done that) but you may find that you need some sort of a boost and maybe a prescription for Armour Thyroid. I went through the same thing you're going through and eventually reached out to a non mainstream doctor who told me what was going on.

Just recently I had a visit with my BIHT (bio identical doctor) and complained of a 13 pound weight gain since June and it's because my thyroid meds have to be bumped up. Once the right dose is found I'll lose the weight and be good to go. You may want to talk to your doctor about this.

At any rate the cleanse will be a temporary help. :)
