aerdna22, congrats on your great weight loss. :) That's a real accomplishment. Does your husband know you've been losing weight? If not, he's really in for a shock!

I'm an older gal in my 50s, and I have also been doing my best to lose weight since the beginning of the year. I weighed in at about 200 lbs in January, and this morning the scale showed 178. Not as significant as your accomplishment, but I'm still pleased with myself. I definitely am still keeping on with my weight loss program though. I finished a 23 day master cleanse last Saturday. When I finished I weighed 174. Yesterday I weighed 176, so I think today's slightly higher number is only temporary. I didn't drink as much water yesterday, and I ate more whole grain bread than earlier in the week... a toasted pita, and some RyCrisp. Maybe that made the difference. Anyway - definitely more water intake today for sure, and hopefully I'll be back to 176 (or lower) again tomorrow. I'm allowing myself until Sunday to complete my phase out stages, and then I'm switching into a more structured dieting plan again - probably trying the catabolic diet for a couple of weeks to see how that works.

Do you mind if I ask what your daily eating choices looked like before you started this master cleanse? What you typically ate for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? I always find it useful to see how other's are achieving successful weight loss. As I said I'm older and menopausal as well (which seems to make if harder for me personally to lose weight) but I'm working towards my goal of 150 lbs.

Good luck on your 3rd cleanse. As you said 'Third time is a charm'. :)

Good Morning, Everpet! I hope you don't mind me responding.

As we mature, we really need less food to sustain us. I have found eating a 80-95 percent vegan raw diet (organic produce as necessary), exercising, and treating myself occasionally to breads and cheeses helps me stick to my eating plan. I have also found you can gain weight on a raw diet if the caloric intake exceeds calories burned.

I try to drink 1/2 of my body weight in ounces of water each day (1/2 of 160lbs = 80 oz). This is determined by the quantity of green smoothies and fresh vegetable juice I drink.

Breakfast: one papaya or small bowl of mixed fruit or 1/4 cup of raisin bran with almond milk or raw mixed nuts & raisins and 1/2 avocado or a 20 oz green smoothie.

Snack: one banana and two handful of raw mixed nuts & raisins and 16 oz of fresh vegetable juice.

Lunch: One large green leaf salad with homemade salad dressing & raw mixed nuts & raisins.

Snack: an apple or other fresh fruit and raw mixed nuts & raisins.

Dinner: green leaf salad, raw mixed nuts & raisins or bean burger with sunflower seed bread (Ani Phyo's recipe) with hicama fries or bean burger with SAD hamburger bun or brown rice and a raw portabello mushroom with avocado & tomato salad.

weekend breakfast: feegs (scrambled tofu) and 1/2 avocado

occasional weekend treats: a slice of vegan german chocolate cake or a scone
occasional weekend lunch treats: vegan burrito or nachos with cheese
occasional weekend dinner engagements: vegetarian or vegan meals

I am towards the end of my 7th day. This is my 1st ever cleanse and I feel great. OK, let me answer in more detail. I feel slightly sluggish in the mornings but for some odd reason my energy jolts up in the middle of the day. The salt water flush becomes SLIGHTLY easier and the lemonade mixture became very easy. I hated the spiciness in the first 2 days but after day three I didnt care anymore. I have not stepped on a scale but EVERYONE at work is like, "WOW, are you loosing weight?" I must have lost at least 8-10lbs in 7days??? I know its a lot of water loose but its still amazing.

I wake up at 6:30 to do the flush and leave my house at 8:30 for work. I sometimes move bowels 3-5 times before going to work. During the day and night I do not have and BM. I am putting fresh mint leaves in my herbal tea at night which is nice. My breathe is yucky but I brush my teeth as soon as I get home to refresh (feels so good).

All and all, I am happy.

PS..My friend works for Lenny Kravitz the singer and he said Lenny goes away to his island in the Bahamas and does the MC for 14 days twice a year or before a photo shoot.

Can't wait to see more changes!!!
All The Best!

Tanyazl1, I don't mind you responding at all. :) It's nice to hear from someone in my general age group. Thanks for the info. Your menu plan looks very interesting. I may try to adapt something similiar. Although I'm not sure if I can adapt to as high a %raw diet as you. Maybe if I adapt myself to it gradually. I have noticed since starting my cleanse phase out that all I really seem to crave is vegetables and fruits. I've been eating BIG salads for every lunch - much larger than I would have 'before cleanse'. And I've had no interest in sweets or other sugary things, which has surprised me. I did eat some raw almonds today which tasted amazing. I've been busy this week cooking up tabouli, eggplant dip, etc. It's like I've had a 'food personality' transplant! :D

Christene, Again, I appreciate hearing from another poster who's in my general age group. Wow.. the cleanse really worked wonders in lowering your cholesteral! I don't have any significant health problems (other than some fairly mild arthritis in my feet, and that's been improved a lot by my weight loss to date) so I just went ahead and did the cleanse without any reference to my Dr. And I'm not on any meds. But at my last annual checkup the Dr. pointed out that my cholesterdal was getting higher (not what she considered too high yet, but it had gone up). It would be interesting to know what it's at now. I'm pretty sure I'll go on another cleanse, but probably not for at least 3 months. I was starting to get worried about my calcium and protein intake. I'm aware now that it's important to really eat healthily between cleanses, in order to build the nutritional reserves up. :) With the amount of veggies and fruits that I've been eating, I shouldn't have any problem there. :)

Again, thanks to both of you for posting. And good luck with your current cleanse. Maybe one of these times I'll be on the MC at the same time as you guys.

Day 8 and doing great! It's funny, I really expected to have some kind of detox symptoms either yesterday or today, and both days I've felt really good! That euphoric MC kinda good. :D I was thinking yesterday, "If every day of the MC were this easy, I could do this for ages." Today I got some sun and went for a swim (ended up not doing it yesterday) and then cleaned the interior of my car out in the 95 degree Florida heat. Sweated my butt off, but felt fine otherwise. I think this is the first time on an MC that I've actually had energy! It's pretty cool.

After I took my dog to the park yesterday, I just took it easy for the rest of the day. I looked up healthy recipes online (Every Day Dish TV on YouTube has some good looking vegetarian dishes!), read a magazine out on the balcony for awhile, read some old Master Cleanse blogs on CureZone.. it was a really nice relaxing day. I felt very rejuvenated.

Boneyardpixie, maybe I will check my Whole Foods again for the tea, perhaps they were just out when I looked during my last cleanse. However, there is a GNC close by and they carry the chocolate SM online, so they might have it in store too. The 5 minutes of steeping + water worked well for me. The cramps came later this morning and were not so painful. So sorry that you are experiencing the cramps now!! :( Hopefully it's just your body's way of getting rid of some serious junk that it doesn't need and the cramping will pass soon.

Tanyazl1, congrats on reducing your blood pressure. I'm 30, and have been on high bp meds for about a year now. No clue why my bp would be so high at this age. I stopped taking my meds on day 1 of my MC, and have been closely monitoring it to make sure it doesn't skyrocket back up. Thankfully it's stayed nice and low!! Which is weird, because I had to keep taking the meds during my last cleanse - my bp shot right back up after I stopped taking them, even though I was cleansing. Hopefully, as long as I continue to eat healthy after this MC, it will stay in the normal range and maybe I can get off of those meds!!

Speaking of kombucha, I've been looking into fermented foods recently myself, as they're supposed to be so great for you. I had a short stint with making my own kefir, but it was a daily process that made more than I could use, and I didn't really care for the taste of my homemade stuff. I'm thinking of trying to make my own kimchi. I found some instructional videos on YouTube, and read a few recipes, and it seems do-able, if not a little bit labor intensive. I don't even know if I like kimchi, but I think I will. I like that you can make a whole bunch at once and stick it in the fridge and it will keep for a really long time.

Probiotics and a definite must after the cleanse. I found a great brand that works really well. It's called Primal Defense by Garden of Life. I got a good sized bottle for a good price at iHerb.com.

aerdna good luck! we are all here for you, if you need encouragement. Just remember the hardest days are detox days and they will pass. Believe in yourself and anything can happen. Congrats to you and Evepet for your weight loss!

Ruth I hope you feel better tomorrow =) I don't know how the rating system works.\

Christene: I hope you are feeling better. Big Hugs. Harley? Wow, nice. I want to learn to ride a motorcycle one day....maybe after I go to grad school.

Free: That's a really good idea =) I like how the kombucha makes me feel. I generally don't like the taste of yogurt, so making it would be even more gross for me lol.

Nymue: I'm glad that you had a great day! It's been hot here too, but I find that I"m not really sweating much or even getting hot =) I LOVE kimchi, but most of them have fish paste in it. I want to make my own. I picked some green beans for after my fast, as well as have a huge freezer full of homemade veg broth, from my garden and left over veges.

Does anyone else notice that they have to clean their toilet more on the cleanse? Just a humorous little side note that I noticed today.

Hi there,
I'm a newbie here for posting, even though I have been reading the posts here for a couple of years now. I am on the second day of my 4th master cleanse and I plan on going 40 days this time. I know it will be easier if I have someone to talk to about this so I am hoping to make friends on here. My husband isnt interested in doing this with me and neither are any of my friends. It would be great to find someone on the same day as me, or around it to talk to. It will also be great to just be friendly with you all here.

My first cleanse was for 21 days. It really changed a lot of my unhealthy habbits... for quite a while. But then I fell back into my old ways, and I feel like crap again. My main reasons for doing the master cleanse this time are for spiritual, physical, and mental reasons. I do hope that the friends I make on here can help me succeed. I hope you all are having a beautiful day!

Hello everyone...well, I am at the crossroads about doing this cleanse again...I am contemplating starting tonight with the tea but am a lil apprehensive because I know that the first few days were torture for me...(sigh)...this will be my second cleanse so I kinda know what to expect and boy am I not looking forward to the flush!...lol...but I do have a question...I am overweight and out of shape and have been going to the gym to get in shape and sculpt my body...can we excercise SAFELY on the cleanse? I didnt really excercise b4 on the 1st one but would like to continue the gym while fasting...

Hi Caramelcutie, The answer is absolutely YES :D You can exercise, just listen to your body. If you have established a normal routine, then continue. If you have been exercising on for a few weeks, you should take it really slow...start out walking.

Here's advice from Senior Member Peanuterb http://therawfoodsite.com/forum/showpost.php?p=25577&postcount=23

I exercise without any side affects. I believe endorphins are readily accessible when exercising while on the cleanse. Yeah, I love the natural high 8)

Hello Everyone... I am on Day 5... and am so bored! i am so tempted to stop... so many different reasons why i'd like to... cause i want food... my hubby is not on it (he's doing a different type of fitness/nutrition plan)... not as motivated this time around.

this is a different cleanse for me all together... i do notice that i am not drinking as much...just the minimum 6 servings of lemonade... last time i had 8 a day. So today i made sure to drink 8. I think that i am not seeing many eliminations... so i am questioning whether it is working or not (even though i know i shouldn't question the process! cause it does work!)

i am feeling more headaches... no cold hands or feet (like the past cleanses)... I was going for 40 days... but will see how i feel after i do 10 days.

I know i want to at least finish the 10 days! I am halfway through! Arghhhhh! i so want to eat!!!!

But i have all my supplies of limes ...and 2 more bottles of maple syrup...so... i should at least finish them up!

okay... i think i am done making excuses... 5 more days!

Hi Firends!

I have just finished day 8 - YEA!!! Day 7 was hard lost of flakey matter released and my tongue reaaly became coated. Today was a walk in the park.

I tell you, I have never been on a forum board that offered such help and friendship from total strangers - I can't begin to tell you what it has meant to me to have all of you there. Just knowing you are out there working toward the same goal is just awesome! Tanya and Boneyardpixie, your knowledge is amazing and has been so helpful to me, thank you so much!!!!

To all you newbies and visitors, hop on board and challenge yourself. All the people that read and write on this board will be here to support you and offer their experiences to help you along the way...I could not have come this far without them.

On to day 9..

XOXO, Lori

Greetings from Las Vegas!

Day 1 was a breeze..no detox symptoms, besides a chill that I just couldn't get rid of. I actually enjoyed the 105 degree temperature..lol. Otherwise I feel great, tons of energy. I ran errands from 8am until after 5pm & then came home & rearranged my living room furniture. I forgot how much I like the taste of the lemonade..

I feel great & I'm ready for tomorrow!!

Evepet:
I'll admit, I'm only 27 years old, but I have noticed a drastic change in my metabolism over the past couple years. My hubby does know about my weight loss & encourages me anyway he can. Of course he tells me that I'm beautiful either way, & its my health he is thinking about..we plan on living a long life together, so we have made a pact to both try to live a healthier lifestyle & make excersize a part of our daily routine. He makes me send him pictures often..lol..so he can see my progress, but pictures only do so much. Seeing the results in person are always better :-)

As for my diet, I spoke with my doctor & also a nutrionalist about what would suit me best. My average caloric intake is approximately 1300-1600 calories per day. I drink only water & make sure not to eat after 7pm.
I try to excersize a minimum of 3 times a week, but of course there are times that it doesn't work out that way. I allow myself 1 cheat day a week, where I can have 1 meal that's unhealthy if I'd like, or dessert...though I have found that my cravings have almost completely resided. If I do decide to have a treat, I use portion control. Such as 2 days ago, me & my 8 year old daughter baked a cake...I did have a slice, but it really was only 1/4 of the size of a normal slice.

A sample day would consist of:

Breakfast:
1 poached egg
1/2 bagel w/ 1 tbs cream cheese
1c fresh sliced cantaloupe

Snack:
8oz fat free plain yogurt
1 1/2c fresh sliced strawberries

Lunch:
2c mixed green salad
1/2c diced onion
1/2c diced green peppers
2tbs salad dressing

Snack:
1 small green apple
1/2 bagel (toasted, dry)

Dinner:
4oz salmon, sauteed in 1 tbs olive oil
Seasoned w/fresh garlic, pepper & a splash of lemon juice
1c steamed brocolli
8oz fat free milk

By the way, congrats on your weight loss as well & good luck on your continued journey! Well, that's enough for now...but to all my fellow lemonheads, thanks for the encouragement & support...its a good feeling to know you're not in this alone. Together, I'm confident that we all can achieve our goals...

I'm taking things 1 day at a time...& I'm ready for tomorrow!!

Until then, happy cleansing :-)

aerdna22, thanks for your daily menu outline. That's helpful. I believe I could stick to something along those lines, and that seems a healthy calorie intake level IMO. It's good that you got professional advice along the way. You're doing fabulously, and I know you'll be successful in reaching your goals. What an exciting reunion you'll have with your hubby. BTW, I don't know whether you actually said so or not? but I'm getting the impression he's in the military overseas somewhere? God Bless him and keep him safe.

I also had many periods of feeling absolutely freezing when I was on the cleanse. And I have a p/t job some evenings where the other ladies had the air conditionner on - well, even my feet were freezing! I was thinking I'd have to start wearing socks in there!!! I don't think I could do the cleanse in winter up here in Ontario, Canada - I needed the summer temps to help keep me warm from the 'cleanse chills'. :) And sometimes I thought that the chills from the cleanse almost acted like air conditionning on those hot days. :)

Keep up the great work aerdna22. You're doing great. I'm off now to stock up on salad stuffs, fruits and veggies for the coming week. :)

Yeah I was making enough for 6 glasses, your supposed to have 6-12 for the day, so I make 6 all at once and then if I need more I can make it per glass. I think the ratio is right for 6 glasses, but it tasted awful, so I am leaving out the cayenne for the main mix and taking a small shot of lemonade or water with a pinch of cayenne a few times throughout the day.

The tip is not to put in the cayenne pepper until the last minute just as you are going to drink it. Stir it well and swirl the last mouthful or two.......(I couldnt take it the first time I tried) but that is how I am able to up my intake by 3 times my original dose now......if you take it slowly you will be able to increase it over time.

Good Luck

You can learn to ride anytime hon.....I started at the youthful age of 55....somewhere in my 2nd or 3rd childhood? I am headed towards fitting into my riding leathers again this season.....love the MC for not only health reasons but the loss of weight.

Day 13 here! I was having a pretty good ride, no major detox symptoms...til last night. A really bad headache came on out of nowhere. Really sucked because it's my one night off per week and I spent it being miserable!

Well, I'm just glad that's over with. Think I might try some limes today! :)

aerdna22: I never thought of sauteeing salmon! I always grilled or baked. Do you cut it up in smaller pieces? How long do you cook it? I might have to try that. One of my grocery stores had Full Circle salmon steaks on sale so I bought a couple and threw them in the freezer for next month. :D

Hello All,
Hoping that today goes smoothly for everyone...I'm beginning day 2 & feeling fabulous. I woke up refreshed at 7am, when I normally sleep until 9 or 10. The chills have subsided for now, I did set my thermostat to 85 instead of the normal 78 degrees. My agenda today is just to relax & enjoy the day...rent a movie & watch with my little girl & then maybe go for a swim & bake a little in the sun ;-)
Wishing everyone a pleasant day wherever you are!!

Evepet:
My past 2 cleanses have been in the winter, & though it doesn't snow here..our temps do get in the low 30's with lots of wind. I'll tell you, I was so cold, I wore fur lined gloves indoors..lol. I'm happy for the warm weather this time around, it doesn't seem so bad when I can just walk outside and sit for a while in the sun.

My hubby actually isn't in the military, he had to leave for a while & go back to his hometown to attend to some family business. We're hoping things will get wrapped up soon so he can come back home...

So you're in Ontario I noticed. My mother is Canadian, she's from Cambridge. I have quite a large family there, mostly in Toronto & Kitchner. If you happen to run into any Snyder's , most likely they are my relatives. Canada is beautiful, I'm looking forward to my next visit, its been over 10 years since my last. Well, have a wonderful day! And have fun grocery shopping, that's one of my favorite past times..I love fresh produce & making new dishes. Oh yeah, my salmon...fish is generally less dense than other meats, so the cooking time is less. I use medium heat on the stove, rub my salmon with spices (its better if you rub it down & wrap it in plastic, then let it sit in the fridge for about an hour) then sautee for about 5-6 minutes per side. You can also add some sliced mushrooms to your pan & it tastes great on top.

well, I'll check in again later...until then happy cleansing

Diary Day eleven

Thanks for that wonderful support for yesterday really helped get me over that one.:(

Time is really flying on this MC (faster than the first one it seems)….already a quarter of the way there for me. Feeling much better than yesterday, its marvelous the difference a day makes in this MC.

Thought you might find this interesting, the breakdown of the ingredients in the MC by calorific content etc for the minimum six glasses: it really shows that by increasing your consumption of more glasses really doesn’t add up all that much……….

Master Cleanse
Ingredients
Lemon Juice, 2 fl oz (2tbs about 1/2 large lemon)
Maple Syrup “NOW” (my favorite Grade B Organic & Kosher), 1 serving (2 tbs)
Pepper, red or cayenne, .10 tsp (1/10th tsp)
Water, tap, 1 cup (8 fl oz)

Nutritional Info
Fat: 0.0g
Carbohydrates: 31.4g
Calories:115.8
Protein: 0.3g

Squeeze lemon freshly each glass
Put kettle on to warm water. (I like it cold as it tastes better)
Put lemon juice and maple syrup into glass
Add warm water and mix well
Add Cayenne Pepper and stir well just before you drink it
Sip till finished
One serve: Cal 116 (each glass 31carbs 0 fats and 0 protein)
Six serves: Cal 695 (total 188 carbs 0 fats 2 protein).

Racing out the door at the moment..........will catch up again later:)

Day 17 of 20+ feeling awfully drained this morning. I have been low on energy since week. I have been using a little over 2oz of the maple syrup for my daily supply so this morning I added the 4oz instead. I am feeling better since I did that. I tried to exercise this morning but Iwas too weak. Other than that, I have now lost 16lbs yeaahhhh. Planning to get off sometime next week or when the syrup runs out. Maybe I am afraid to get off...We'll see.

Chrstine & Evepet, Wow! you are really exercising and having fun. A Harley! Cool Thanks for being there. I am introducing the MC to my coworker who is in her late 50s and I am telling her about you guys and that she has nothing to worry about. She has high cholesterol and ulcer.

I did the SWF this morning and did I but-pee:eek: I am running from bed to bathroom. I seem to pass a lot today and yes it stains the toilet and I have to be cleaning it more.

All others hang in there and good luck. Those who are just beginning charge!!!!!

I'm on Day 5! The first two days of the cleanse were what I would call health hell! I started the cleanse because modern medicine cannot seem to figure out why I have been having unexplained and severe digestive problems at 26 years old. I’m hoping the cleanse gets me back to neutral.

Immediately after starting the cleanse, a kidney infection that had been lingering in my body came forward with full force. OOOUUUCH! Then on top of that yesterday, due to all the toxins being released in my body I had flu symptoms and kept vomiting! This thing is INTENSE!

My kidney's feel better after the flush in the morning but are sooo painful at night after all the lemonade. Am I doing something dangerous to myself?

Good luck to everyone else and I hope we can try to see this journey as a cleansing of not only the toxins in our bodies, but the toxins that surround us in life.

Hi all....I am on day 6 of 10. I have been feeling pretty good throughout the cleanse...some headaches but nothing major. I have two concerns as I continue and would like to seek advice or wisdom:

1. I am not eliminating all that much. I am unable to handle the SWF so I do lax tea AM and PM. But, still not very much action is happening. Does that mean I am not detoxing?

2. I am having a hard time finishing my LA and water yesterday and today. Especially today...I am content with nothing. No craving...no hunger. What happens if I do not finish all my LA? Does that in any way compromise my cleanse?

Thanks for the support and help.

Bridge, my energy is low too. I know the heat here has something to do with it, but I'm just not as peppy as I was on MC1. I've skipped Tae Bo a few times already this cleanse, and I think today will be another skip. Maybe I'll do some Callanetics instead, good for strengthening core muscles but it's not cardio. Think I'm going to up the amount of agave like you did with the MS, maybe that will help a bit!

Christene, wow! I didn't realize the total calories was that low. I thought it was more around the 1000 calorie mark for 6 glasses. And I'm not even doing a whole 2 Tbs of agave either. I just do it to taste, but I know I'm using less because the bottle lasts a lot longer than it should. lol I'm going to pay more attention and make sure I get the whole 2 Tbs for a while since I rarely drink more than 6 glasses.

Have cleaned my toilet again.

Oh yeah, and I'm liking the limes!

End of Day 13. I felt better day 11 and 12. The lax tea worked extremely well. Today I woke up exhausted again. I ended up taking another 2 hour nap that I thought I was done with two days ago. I had a lot of energy yesterday, as well as my tongue scrapper got off a thick yukiness...I thought today would be better. Why am I so freaking tired all the time? *Rhetorical question* Hopefully this is the worst of it. I'm tired of being tired. I did manage to do 50 push-ups, 25 reps lifting a case of beer, over 50 leg lifts each leg, and 60 squats. I'm feeling a little sore, but good. It's been threating to rain here everyday, so my bicycle isn't in the works.

Love Earth: Welcome to the board. I wish you much luck on your 4th cleanse. 40 days is impressive! If you need a buddy you can pm me.

Oshin: Your progress is good. You're just experiencing a detox symptom with the cravings and headaches. You'll make it through. Stay Strong.

Lori: I love seeing stuff disappearing from my body. Sometimes I wonder if I didn't do the MC, then how would the insides of my body look? EEK. I'm glad I'm doing this now and not later. My friend V, finished her first MC a few days ago....She told me today that there is a lady at her salon that has been doing th MC for over 20 years and feels great. I wanted to ask her more questions, but she had to leave....that's inspiring.

Angel: I'm glad that you stuck through this time. I know how you feel about the detox symptoms, except for feeling tired since around day 9 (with the exception of the days above).

free; I hope you are feeling better today =) I'm sorry that your one day off wasn't optimal.

Christene: I hear ya with the time is going by quite fast. I've been just thinking about each day individually and not this goal or that goal, as the total number of days equal the same time. It's nice to see each day add up. I can't believe that I'm about to hit day 14, without much obsession with eating like other MCs.

Bridge: Day 17! That's a great number. Congrats on your weight loss. You're doing a great job.

Sun: You should be proud of yourself for trying to take better care of your body. It sounds like you are going through extreme detoxing. Your pain is slowly decrease over the next few days. Just think of how much better that you will after the cleanse.

hilarak The tea works slower than the swf. Don't worry, your body is detoxing but maybe not as fast as you'd like to see because of the tea day and night. As long as you are taking the recommended tea, then you should start feeing something soon. Did you regularly eat the SAD before the cleanse? You may be clogged up. Try to drink at least 6 glasses of lemonade because you my find the next day harder, since your body isn't taking in all the calories and vitamins, as suggested. I try to drink at least 4 glasses, when I'm at work, then save two for home.

Oshin: Don't give up. Look at how far you've come. You're doing some intense exercise. Make sure that you drink enough lemonade or you'll start to feel sluggish. You should start feeling better after tomorrows Swf...this feeling shouldn't last more than a day or so. Besides you're almost at day 10!

End of day 10, MC #1

So, this is it for me. Tonight I will drink my last lax tea and in the morning do a final SWF and then on to slowly breaking the fast. I feel good. I haven't had any serious detox symptoms, just a little sluggishness now and again, some lax-tea-induced nausea one or two mornings, and a short-lived outbreak of dandruff. I've broken my caffeine habit, I've lost 9 pounds (not as much as some manage, I know -- I wonder why?), my skin is looking better. My tongue is still pretty white, but for several reasons it's time for me to stop. I'm looking forward to starting a healthier eating plan!

Thank you lemonheads :) for answering all of my questions and providing support along the way. See you next time!

Congrats nanana mom!

Boneyardpixie: I'm right there with ya. I was feeling better later in the day yesterday, so I ended up getting my Tae Bo in. This morning though, I feel like I'm running on "E". Maybe I'll try to get more lemonades in today. If I can do 7 or 8, maybe that will pep me up a bit.

Oshinlvr7: Hang in there and increase your number of lemonades. Maybe that will make a difference, I'm hoping it will for me too!

hilarak: What kind of tea are you using? Maybe try steeping it longer? I'm using straight senna leaf from Alvita. I brew it half-n-half with some Ginger & Peppermint tea bags, also from Alvita, that I already had on hand. Boy, it does the trick for sure. ;)

I'm wondering what kind of foods everyone is thinking about? Last time, I only thought about healthy stuff like salads and smoothies. Even a bowl of veggie soup sounded just delicious. This time I'm craving odd stuff like enchiladas and veal parmesan. What in the world is going on? I couldn't even tell you how many years it's been since I ate stuff like that! (I was vegetarian before starting the MS diet a year and a half ago, now I do some poultry and fish) I really hope that this won't continue AFTER I'm done with the cleanse!

Hi All!! I am a NEWBIE. I am on Day one of my first MC. I had a hard time drinking the lemonade. It didn't taste the way I thought it would. It didn't taste like lemonade! Almost like cayene water! Is it OK to increase the lemonade and decrease a little on the cayene?

MC2 Day 11

I am having such a hard time getting water and lemonade/limeade down...so I make 2 glasses at a time. I don't have a desire to drink ANYTHING. I love the taste but I just cant seem to get the minimum 6 glasses down. I may at the most be getting 32 oz of water down. I drank 5 lemonades yesterday and that was forcing myself... I may end up turning this into a water fast before its all over with. I find myself getting full off drink 3 lemonades. Any suggestions??

I am on day two of the master cleanse. I started yesterday at 5'6" and 191 pounds. I felt great yesterday and even went mountain biking for two hours.

Today I'm a little groggy. I did the salt water flush, but could only drink 16 oz of salt water. Past that, I started to get nauseous, so I stopped. Is that normal?

I also am using agave nectar instead of maple syrup. For whatever reason, here in Colorado agave nectar is easier to find (at the store 2 blocks from my house) and is about $3 cheaper.

My husband really really wants to go mountain biking again today after work. I'm hoping my energy level starts to pick up today.

I'm feeling so much better today, which is Day 14. I can't believe how many semi-solid eliminations there have been in the last three days or so. I woke up with lots of energy! My chin has broken out in quite a few pimples and my psoriasis has become white and scaly, but not uncomfortably noticeable. Finally some noticeable detoxing besides not wanting to leave the house...Last night my intestines were rumbling and making funny noises, even before the tea. I'm going to a concert tonight and I know that they check bags...I'm trying to figure out how to get my lemonade in. Maybe I'll try calling the venue again. OMG, I just thought of this....I'm almost out of MS and have to pick some up at Trader Joes...I have an empty bottle of MS. I can put my lemonade in that! Hahhahahaha. They aren't going to say anything about groceries!

Hmmm...food I'm craving. I'm not craving too much. The idea of a fresh salad or veggies sounds good, but the only thing that I've wanted to eat by smelling it was raw red onions and tomatoes. I've been smelling everything and most package stuffs smells terrible...chemicals! Blah. I just don't have a desire to eat, although I do miss the "act" of it.

Angel: Is your lemonade warm? cold? have you tried just lemons or limes and not both? I hardly ever feel hungry on the fast and if I do, it's because I'm thirsty. I listen to my energy levels and drink accordingly...I usually chug 2 glasses, after an hour and a half from the swf, then I pace myself throughout the day. I try to save 2 glasses for nighttime at home.

angel_eyez816
July 19th, 2009, 11:59 AM
Boneyardpixie: I use both limes and lemons...my LA is usually room temperature....sometimes it has a slight chill on it but not often. I may just have to drink all 6 two hours apart..

boneyardpixie
July 19th, 2009, 12:11 PM
Have you tried just lemons or limes by themselves? Have you tried drinking the lemon/limeade cold? If you make a large batch and don't stick it in the fridge, I've found that about five hours later it tastes really bad. What about drinking a lemon/lime ade, then drinking a full glass of water and continuing the rotation?

angel_eyez816
July 19th, 2009, 12:27 PM
I dont mix the limes and the lemons. Maybe I should?? I also make the LA fresh right before drinking so the enzymes wont die before I drink it. I may just have to force feed myself...like now I have been awake and cleaning for 6 hours did the SWF 5 hours ago and still have not had any LA. I did drink a cup of water and it filled me up.

Hi Everyone!

This is day 10 for me...I'm so proud of myself! Yesterday was really hard...watched TV and it's the commercials -UUUGGG. Is it me or are there nothing but food and cleaning product commercials on this month?! I was ready to chew plaster off the wall last night, not because I was hungry but because it just looked good.

Anyway, I'm have a real challenge before me. I was invited to a girlfriends lake house about 2 months ago and I said yes...at the time I thought I would do the MC for 10 days...now I want to go longer. If I end today, I will be ready by Thursday to eat food which is the day we are leaving. I've done so well, I really don't want to stop...what would you do????

Boneyardpixie: I thank God for you! You are such a special person and those of us lucky enough to cleanse with you learn so much! Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking an interest in us!!!!!

Lori: Whole Foods has a large variety of probiotics. I hear that lots of people doing MC tend to get the Pearls. Then some just drink Kefir...personally if like Jarrow's because there are about 4-5 Billion Organisms Per Cap. Hope that helps.

Hi All,
I am on day 8 of 10. My tongue is still furry and white. My face has broken out into little bumps/hives. I've lost 6.5 pounds. I'm feeling great and no horrible days at all.

I was wondering, when I break the fast on the day after my 10th day, do I do the SWF in the morning and then the orange juice?

Thanks,

Hi Nstachon,

I can answer your question...yes, you will do the SWF and then begin drinking your fresh OJ. THe 11th morning will be the last time you drink that until you start the cleanse again or you will want to drink it if you have something fatty and really bad. Peter says after eating out and blowing it big, he always has SWF the next morning in an effort to wash those food right on through. You will also want to incorporate Probiotic with the OJ. A few posts up is my question about Probiotic and Angel Eyez shared her knowledge with me. She said alot of people use Pearl but she likes Jarrows. I went to Whole Foods and Talked to the guy in the vit section and he also likes Jarrows and that's what I bought. Peters book says to take 2-3 tablets with that 1st glass of OJ and 1 to 2 there after until the bottle is gone. Hope that helps!

Angel Eyesz: You are so good! The guy at Whole Foods said "You know your stuff" on Suggesting Jarrows" He says it's really great. Thanks again!

:o Ending day 6:

Felt generally a lot better today! I can finally feel the kidney infection starting to subside. My digestion of the lemonade seems to slowly be getting better also. whooo hoooo

I have a fun tip that some of you may want to try. Since the skin is one of the largest organs of the body, it also plays a big role in detoxification. I find a great deal of relief from my detox symptoms by taking a "detox bath".

Detox Bath:
Before you enter the bath "dry brush" your body using a loofah or any exfoliating tool (vegetable brush) to get rid of dead skin and open your pores.
Mix 2 cups of Epsom Salt and 10 drops of detox essential oils (Purchase "Detox Aide" essential oil blend at Whole Foods or use grapefruit, lemon, orange, juniper berry mix of essential oils) in a very hot bath.
Try to stay in the bath for 20-30 min and get a really good sweat going.
After you get out of the bath, wrap yourself up in a really big blanket. You will continue to sweat out toxins!! Try to stay wrapped for 30-60 min. (Do not use any lotion or anything that will clog the pores)

Good luck to everyone and hope you are feeling "cleaner"

MC 2 Day 12

You're welcome Lori. I'm happy I could help. The Whole Foods crew does MC also. I haven't met an employee there yet that hasn't at least tried MC at least once. :)

I am amped!!! This is the part of the cleanse that I like!!! I went to bed at 10:30pm and woke up at 1:50 am full of energy. The only negative is that the SM tea worked after 3 hours and 20 minutes. This morning I had a feeling that the SWF didn't want to stay down and it didn't. That stuff shoots out like a hydrant!! Throwing the SWF up feels awesome (excuse me for being so graffic) :D and it makes the 2nd attempt so much easier.

Happy cleansing everyone and remember seeing MC through untill the end is the greatest gift you can give yourself; your health. These small hurdles lead to a beautiful reward. To heal your body naturally is priceless. :p

Not sure what you are doing here.............are you starting a MC and this is your first day?

You always weigh the least when you first wake up and weigh yourself anything after that even water will register a higher weight. Best to only weigh once a day. Taking measurements regularly gives a better method of recording your loss than just the scales I find.

Diary Day twelve

Every day I mark off the days with a big crossed loop and it feels so empowering to see what I have accomplished to date………taking each day from sunrise to sunset as a unit instead of looking at the whole big picture and getting myself depressed at the magnitude of it all.

Today my arm is still aching a lot and that is bothersome to me.

I am amazed at how I can make a meal for my man without drooling all over it and feeling deprived at not being able to eat any of it…….looking at what I am preparing and analyzing it I can consider the benefits and nutrients that are in it (or not as the case may be) without the urgent need to feed. Can anyone tell me why fatty food always smells so good – and why it triggers us to eat that?

Diary Day thirteen

A really busy day in town today toting my “Lemonhead Bag” with my 2 bottles of 3 servings of MCL each and my bottled water peppermint tea bags and cayenne pepper (to add at last minute before I drink it). I now take 3 times the amount of cayenne than in my first cleanse.

My husband was concerned that I am not getting any fiber in my diet as I sat there sipping my mint tea whilst he had his ‘Mac-Meal”…..talk about Yin and Yang?

Told him that I am going to change my food pattern when I do resume normal eating as I don’t want to go back to taking medications for the rest of my life (very anti-pill popping over here as I have seen far to many folk get onto that treadmill and end up with far worse symptoms as side effects whilst the big industries grow rich on the misery of the sick and ailing).

Don’t want to return to being overweight and having high Cholesterol levels or worse… (why I am concerned is the fact that My grandfather and two aunts died of heart attack and my mother has had many heart attacks and strokes and TIA’s even though she has survived them to date she is like a ticking time bomb waiting for the big one.

Hey MJM,

Probiotics are very important. I don't remember where I got this info from if it was Stan's book, Peter's book or Peter's websit but when I began research the MC I made note cards of all the important things that I knew I would forget...this being one of them. Probiotics are good bacteria that now that I have finished my 10 days needs to be replaced. Do you have a Whole Foods near you? Angel Eyez told me that's where she go her's so that's where I went and on a side note, she also said the staff at Whole Foods is very familiar with the MC and she was right on.

Anyway, when you come off the cleanse is when you will begin using them. Follow the instructions in my post above. Hope that helps.

It's Day 11 for me so it's time for me to break the fast. It has been a great journey and I thank all my MC friends for you help and support...you are the reason I got through it! I plan to do 14 days in January and 20 days next July.

With that, Good Luck and hope to see you in January!

I'm on Day 2 od my first MC. Feeling a little light headed, but didn't do the SWF immediately upon rising. Waiting another 20 minutes or so before making my first LA drink of the day. Still not fond of the SWF at all, but tolerate it. The LA isn't so bad. Yesterday, I was pretty tired as I took a couple naps. We'll see how today goes. I'm planning on going at least 10 days. When I get to Day 10, I will decide if I will continue or not, right now just taking it one day at a time. While I do have a lot of fat to lose, my primary purpose for doing this is to detox. I probably won't get on a scale or take measurements again until I get to Day 10. Definitely looking for new MC friends for support. :)

Wow, day 15 here and feeling pretty good. I had 7 lemonades instead of my usual 6 yesterday and increased the agave in each a bit too. Definitely helped my energy. Tongue is still coated, but no other major signs of detox at the moment.

MJM, this cleanse is pretty intense, so I imagine we are wiping out a good amount of our gut flora along with everything else. It's important to replace those bugs for good digestion once we start eating again. :)

Sunmnstrs, thanks for the reminder. I always forget that I should be dry brushing while I'm detoxing!

angel eyez, you are so funny. You must be seriously amped because I've never heard anyone talking about throwing up the SWF so enthusiastically. :D You are right though, it's such an amazing thing to heal ourselves this way, and to see just what our bodies are capable of!

Day 19 of 20 something..who knows

I totally forgot to put in my cayenne pepper this morning. I will add it when I get home. I hope that slip up wasn't too bad. Tongue is still white and feels funny when I run it over my palette. Almost like there is hair on it,
Made dinner over the weekend. I am finding that the dinners are coming out nicely without me tasting it for perfection. Seems I am putting in the right amount of everything. Did MC do that  I was hurt when I saw my kids wasting the food though. Before the MC I probably would have eaten it, :o I really hope I don't go back there. One confession: I stored some of what I cooked in the freezer for after the MC. No, I haven't put anything than the prescribed into my unpolluted mouth:D

I am feeling hungry more often in the last couple of days, meaning, my stomach is making more noises. And, I keep sipping. I take a 60oz jug with me to work. Usually I put aside some to take with me to evening classes.

Maybe I am getting anxious, I don't know. I have been up and down at 186lb since Sat. Really want to make it into the 170s before ending so that when I resume it wont take be back to my original weight. Going to be eating more healthy though.
Ok that's my piece for now. Will keep u all posted and don't forget to post me :D

After a great day 7 and 8, 9 was a little bit rough. My boyfriend and I rearranged our office and I went through some emotional detox from getting rid of an old piece of furniture that has a lot of memories tied to it. I also started my period. After all of the furniture moving, organizing, and trips to the dumpster, I was WIPED OUT. I took it easy for the rest of the day and felt alright.

Yesterday was Day 10, my halfway point (unless I decide to do a few additional days past 20). For the first time, I decided to drink the lax tea in the morning instead of doing the SWF. A few hours later, I think the only thing I was eliminating was my lemonades! It was nice to change it up a little bit though. For some reason, I only drank 3 lemonades yesterday. I usually have 7 or 8. I just wasn't hungry. I could tell the difference that it made in my cleansing experience. Today was the first morning that I didn't experience any cramps from the lax tea, and also the first day that I didn't need to eliminate prior to the SWF. I didn't get as much junk out as I normally do either. Well, at least I have firsthand proof that the combination of ingredients in the lemonade really does lift the old stuff from your inner walls so it's ready to get rid of!

I am missing all types of food, both good and bad. I think it's really just the desire to eat and to taste something besides the lemonade. I'm going to start re-reading Victoria Boutenko's 12 Steps to Raw Foods, to put myself in the right mindset for when this cleanse is over. Also looking forward to ordering Alissa Cohen's raw food book and DVD, as I've decided to go for 20 days instead of 10 (it's my reward :) ). I've also been collecting healthy recipes that I'm looking forward to making. I'm going to be doing a raw/cooked mix, and I'm going to try to get more fish in my diet, so I'm looking for flavorful ways to prepare fish.

Happy Cleansing All! I really appreciate everyone's kindness and support and sense of sharing on this board. A big thanks to all who come here and contribute!

I'm not sure what's going on with the lemons and limes this season. I only buy oganic. Whole Foods must be getting a bad batch of produce this week... It's taking a whole 1- 1 1/2 limes to make a glass of LA not to mention the lemons aren't too much better. If only there were than 3 Whole Foods in the entire Kansas City Metro area. :( I hope they do better. They produce looked better this winter which is so backwards.

Anyways......The work day is over and I'm at home about to take a detox bath like the one mentioned above.

I posted in a different thread earlier, but I noticed this seems to be THE PLACE as far as posting this stuff.... Anyways.

Me and a friend both started our first MC, me today and him yesterday. So far I'm doing well with it. I had the senna tea last night (smooth move) and really liked the taste of it, I am already looking forward to having it again tonight. I got up at 6AM to do my first SWF this morning. I was apprehensive because I had read about it not working for the first couple of days for people coming off of SAD. Well, that feeling went away and I had like 4-5 BMs in the first hour after drinking it.

Funny story... I had a fart earlier today and it turned out to be a little juicy (I hope that's not TMI, it seems to me people on the boards here are quite open).

Lunchtime was a little rough, I saw food everywhere (even though it's only day one), I just had to put my mind somewhere else.

The worst part so far has been a headache and slight lightheadedness. I generally have decaf coffee everyday and I know that has a little caffeine in it, and I also have quite a bit of sugar in my diet, so I'm hoping this will subside in the next day or two.

Other than that, so far so good. I will continue to come to these boards for inspiration. Hopefully I can get through this. This is both a physical and spiritual fast for me. I have fasted 5 days in the past, but 10 days will be quite a challenge.

Good luck to everyone.

Day 7:

Feeling pretty good today. Still baffled by the fact that I'm having the same digestive issues as I did when I was eating solid foods? It's a medical mystery thus far. Which is why tomorrow I am going in for an endoscopy (my 1st one ever, slightly nervous) to see if they can try to solve what has been plaguing me for 3 months now. :(

Just a quick question for those people who have done the MC before and for longer periods of time. How long did it take some of you for your tongue to go from white to pink and do you always wait for the change or do you just stop the cleanse when your dedicated time is up? I'm debating which way to go.

THANKS!

Hey there, I just finished up day 3. Still in the white/yellow tongue phase. I guess we all have our up and down days, this was definitely a rough day for me.
Yesterday, I had tongue coating, but I still felt so energized. I went swimming with my nieces for 2 hours (which IS a big workout, let me tell you), I also stayed out late watching a movie.
Today I was exhausted. I did a half-hour lunch time walk, and that almost killed me. I came home from work and napped for an hour.
I was a little surprised my body absorbed my SWF this morning, and I even did a SWF with even more salt after work, but nothing yet. So now I did a lax tea, we'll see if anything happens.
I had to make my husband chicken enchiladas for dinner. It was hard not to try them, but I resisted the urge. I didn't want my hard work so far to be for nothing.
I've been drinking 48 oz of LA daily. I have a little cup that I fill up in the morning, and I finish it by dinner.
It will be interesting to see if I make it the whole 10 days, I still have A LOT of pent up cravings. Please send lots of emotional support my way.

Hey,
It is the end of day 5 for me. This morning was my first day back to work since I started the cleanse and I had to get up at 5 A.M. to do the SWF which was hard because I could not get to sleep until about 2 for the past couple of nights.

The SWF was suprizingly welcomed this morning because it was warm, and I was FREEZING!
Im a nanny for 3 boys and their mother hardly ever asks me to go grocery shopping for her, but of course she did ask that of me today. I was worried about being around all the food, but it turns out that I was apalled by everything there, the thought of eating really does not appeal to me right now.

I took a deep 4 hour nap right when I got home at 5 PM which felt really good but now I'm afraid I am not going to be able to sleep again tonight. Ever since I woke up from my long nap I have been feeling toxins running through my arms and legs, especially the legs. It is so much right now that I am having a hard time walking! Other than that I felt fairly well today.

Boneyardpixie: Thank you so much for your response! I will send you a message in the next couple of days. I hope your fast is going well.

I just completed Day 2 of my first MC and feeling ok so far. Still not liking the SWF, however I am able to add more cayenne to my LA. I do like a kick so I let it sit for a few minutes now and take my time drinking it. I have been alternating between lemons and limes and sometimes even mixing both lemons and limes together. I had a slight headache today, but not bad or bothersome. Good thing I was never much of a regular coffee drinker. BM are pretty watery, which from what I have been reading is to be expected. As much meat and cheese as I have been eating before the cleanse, I'm not really clogged up. I had daily BM before the cleanse. I have been a little tired since I started but that may be due to my lack of regular sleep schedule. I've been apprehensive about lap swimming in the mornings or going for long walks as I'm afraid to be far from a restroom at any time. Fortunately, I don't have much work this week. I did managed to get in a mile walk this evening, which I had plenty of energy. At my weight, I should probably be getting in 10-12 drinks, yesterday I only got about 8 drinks, but today I did manage to get in 10 drinks. We'll see how tomorrow goes.:)

Christene, last week my left arm hurt real bad. I had to be massaging it. I thought it was strange, it was as if my muscle were aching except I hadn't been exercising. But then it went after a day or two. Was that detoxing too?

Sounds like it doesnt it? I tore a rotor cuff muscle off years ago and never had any surgery to repair it and that is the area that is really hurting for me with all of the same symptoms:eek:

Congratultions on your cleanse to date. I does get easier taking the SWF especially if you get it hot enough to easily swallow.

I am having the same issue! Out of town wedding this weekend. I am on Day 10 and am planning to start OJ tomorrow. I don't want to over eat or eat the wrong foods (my husband's family is Italian) and I was thinking of taking some Medifast products with me to stay on track. Is this a bad thing?

Medifast is a really bad drug............ wondering why would you put that into your body after cleansing it? You are changing your eating patterns after the MC or are you going back to the same old, same old?

If you fill up on lots of glasses of water ........then lots of the good foods.....then walk around with a full plate in your hand and rearrange it occassionally no one can put anymore on it for you while you are talking to everyone and hugging every one etc.

Best to go around and look at all the food and praise the cooks before you pick up a plate e. Chose something that is really worth it and do the "THREE Mouthfulls" trick (one mouthful to taste it, one mouthful to savourt it texture and all, and one mouthful for sheer decadence.

I know the wonderful warm social structure of eating together at an Italian meal so do understand.

Failing all that the old SWF the next morning will have to rectify that and move it through at fast pace (dont use it all the time, just once in a while). GOOD LUCK!!!

Diary Day Fourteen

Started a walking program yesterday on my mini-trampoline….. Aiming for 10,000 steps daily so wore my pedometer all day…… managed 6584 so figured that was a goodly number to start with? Had a really hot Epsom salt bath after a body brushing and wrapped up back in bed for half an hour to sweat it out.

Did a lot of spring cleaning in the afternoon….till around 6.00pm then I started getting a rather nasty headache at the base of the skull, down my right side neck and face and even in my right eye so had an early night after my SM..

Woke up this morning still with the headache and went to the loo even before taking my SW. These are some of the hard days for me when cleansing as nothing gives me any relief (I have tried taking painkillers on the previous flush and none worked so I didn’t even try this time?). Have sore and swollen neck glands that hurt when I swallowed my SWF today, but my tongue is looking pinker so that’s a bonus.

Christene, that is exactly the kind of headache I had last Friday night. Man, that was rough! Hope it has eased up for ya.

Day 16 here, and I'm still plugging along. Now that I'm on the homestretch I'm starting to think about what I'm going to eat. Last time I came off the cleanse I wanted to do raw all day then a cooked dinner. It lasted for a good while, but eventually I started slipping back. I'm really bad about bread (love avocado & tomato sandwiches) and rice crackers (for guacamole or hummus). It's not like I slipped into anything real unhealthy, just not at the % raw I wanted to be. I'm hoping that if I plan meals and shopping lists better, I will be able to stick to it better!

Hi Christene,
Day 20 for me, still no pink tongue. I notice you said yours is getting pinker. Did you get on your MC in May? Also, I won't be able to do a 100% raw. Confession is that I love meat and the excuse is vegetables (which are imported) are very expensive. The ones we have that are grown here a few such as pumpkin, callaloo (something like spinach), lettuce, tomatoes, potatoes (both regular and sweet), carrots, cabbage, bell peppers, cucumbers and there might be more. What can I do with these? And, isn't cabbage a gaseous vege? What should I prepare to eat this weekend?
BTW you are doing great!!

You could try going part time vegetarian and ease into it like I am intending to do. I know if I plunge right in I am setting myself up for failure. I am going to do raw for breakfast for the first month and then raw for lunch the second month and see how I go for the third month...by then it will be time for another MC.:)

Can I ask you a question then? The next day did you have multiple Butt Pee and was it bright yellow?

Cause I am thinking it might have something to do with cleaning out the Gall Bladder/Bile Ducts?
I am too scared to sneeze at the moment, cough or laugh with out being seated in the throne room>

I have a sensativity to wheat....it really doesnt agree with me....my doctor did some tests and found I was allergic to it. So try spreading your hummous or guacamole onto a strong lettuce leaf and put another on top like a sandwich ....its yummy!

I intend to do raw all day and then cooked for dinner as well........easing into it.

I've had those all along (lol!) so I'm not sure if it was related or not. In fact, yesterday (day 15) was the first day I wasn't in the bathroom a whole lot. I'm wondering if it's my tea - I'm using straight senna leaf bags steeped with ginger & peppermint bags this time around. Wonder if that's stronger than SM because it's like doing a SWF even when I do the tea instead in the morning!

I don't know why it is that I can't get away from grains. I'm gluten-free too so I just end up spending money I don't have on special bread and crackers. It would probably be cheaper to get a dehydrator (left mine when I moved a few years ago) and make my own raw crackers. I will try the lettuce sandwiches! :)

I have had a skin brush forever and have never brushed my skin before a bath...sad...I love this feeling I'm wrapped up in a towel and then have a blankets wrapped on top of that. This is the evening of day 9 for me. I am totally amazed at how easy this has been. No real hunger pains, a few headaches and I have had trouble sleeping. I seem to be wired at night and I am exercising during the day. I have fixed breakfast, lunch and dinner for my family the whole time and NEVER cheated which is amazing for me. The hardest thing for me has been that I have tied to the toilet so to speak. I do like the flavor of lime better than lemons. They seem sweeter to me. Don't know if I will stop after day 10 or not. Guess I will figure that out when I wake up on day 11! Good luck to you all. It is worth all of the effort. Will definitely do this in January. Thanks to all that have answered my questions.

:)

Hello, I'm new here -- on my third day of my first MC - really doing great.

Thank you everyone - I've been reading for a little while here prior to starting. I did a week of fruits and veggies and almonds and a day of just OJ before starting so my detox symptoms haven't been too bad.

I'm really excited to rid my body of toxins as I've beeen under general an. four times this past year due to a broken leg and under antibiotics 3 times - I was really feeling gross. Between my self imposed fruit and veggies cleanse and this - I am starting to feel really great. Am planning to do 15 plus days - would really like to go until the tongue turns pink as I cherish the thought of being fully 'clean'. :)

I lost 12 pounds the week of the fruits and veggies, but nothing else in the last three days. However my cycle started early the day before I began the MC so I think there might be some fluid retention going on because I feel much lighter and my clothes are looser.

Of course losing weight is a bonus and I would love to look great in a bikini and be at a healthier weight - however the toxin removal is the main think I am after.

Cheers!

Its the morning of day 7. I woke up with a bunch of mucus in the back of my throat. I usualy have silly dreams about accidentally eating something while fasting but last night I had a really heavy emotional detox dream. It was extremely intense. Has anyone else been having horrible detox dreams that force you to confront certain aspects of your life?

Anyway, Im hoping that I get through the next couple of days without really bad detox symptoms because I have to work and use my patience all day. I hope you all are having a great cleanse, have a good day. ;)

Christene, can you give me a sample run down of what you would eat for a day as you said raw for breakfast and lunch and sometime later dinner.

Some Suggestions:
Breakfast: I am going to start my day with a MC Lemonade/fresh orange or grapefruit juice/fresh fruits/fruit smoothie made from just fruit only (because our bodies are eliminating from midnight to noon each day so I dont want to put anything in that wont be helpful).

Lunch: A salad with a homemade raw dressing / Raw sandwich of say hummus or guacomole on a strong lettuce leaf with another on top. I just love the 'Grapefruit and Avocardo Salad' from "Raw Food Made Easy for 1 or 2 people by Jennifer Cornbleet" (great book for those starting out....but there are many others as well....check out some of the ones on this site).

Dinner: Half an hour before the meal I will have some raw veggies such as sliced bell peppers/ apples,/watermelon to allow it to digest before my meal....its a snack to stave off real hunger pangs.
Then a vegetable soup homemade and then a meal of 2 or3 steamed veggies and some protien (even some meat or fish). No desserts (unless I am dining out then dont stand between me and the dessert trolley........lol) and nothing but a peppermint tea before bedtime to help my digestion. I try to eat before 7.00pm to allow some digestion before I retire for the night.
Dinner is where I am going easy on myself as I ease into a fully raw lifestyle (its also an out if you lapse and blow it....and we all do that from time to time).

May I suggest you look up a few Raw Sites, get some Recipe Books and subscribe to Peter's newsletter as his wife usually puts some yummy recipes in it. Your tastebuds will have changed once you are cleaned out so go out and taste what the raw foods have to offer you and all the best wishes to your success:)

I am on day 9 and what a journey! I sit at a desk all day in front of a computer and used to wonder how I didn't notice what I had already eaten... Not usually junk food but still I didn't even notice what I was putting in. I am planning on walking away for all snacks, meals, etc and enjoying every flavor in every bite I have. I didn't get any bad detox symptoms - colder than usual and the BMs are hilarious but I am down 8 lbs and feel great. No more foggy head from my coffee or treats. If there are any more "positives" tomorrow I may go for the 15 days as my friend just finished 15 and her tongue is magically 100% pink overnight! I would love to get all that gross stuff off my tongue and feel even better! We will see if my mind allows it:) For anyone debating starting - it is totally worth it and totally possible! Good luck to all!

Hey Everyone,
Day 17
I hope everyone is doing well...I currently have a kitten biting my toe and another on my lap purring =) This morning is going well. I just did the Swf. Yeah, fun.
The last few days haven't been anything special. I still have a small breakout on my chin and left side of my face. I wonder if sides of face pinpoint to a place on your body? I rubbed my feet last night and the areas that were tender were my lymph and lungs. At least it's not my liver, colon, or kidneys...I feared those would be the worst. I've been blowing my nose for the last few days. My allergies have been so much better on the cleanse and the pollen count has been high quite a few times this last week...The lax tea is amazing. I'm still having semi-solid eliminations after all this time. The other Mcs that I have done, I don't think, haven't gotten rid of as much as I'm getting rid of now....or so it seems.
I've really missed cooking, so I started pickling more things last night lol...perfect for the raw I'm going to do for a little bit after the cleanse. My freezer is full of homemade veggie broth.

Lori: Thank you! That was very kind of you to say.

Bridge: I too have had constant tummy rumble the last two days and the empty hungry feeling...It usually happens later at night, when I'm done or almost done with my lemonade. I don't feel like quiting yet though. My tongue is still semi-white and semi-bright pink and I'm not thinking of eating anything. It goes in and out of white now. One day it's white, then another it's not.

Christene: I love the idea of the three mouthful bit! I have a tendency to overeat certain foods and I will think of this rule next time I'm out. Eeek...bad detox day! I hope that the headaches aren't crippling. Be strong. Tomorrow will be better. Hopefully this is the worst of the worst.

Free: One of my fave breads is Alverado Bakery. Each slice is about 50 to 100 calories and they don't have any unnecessary ingredients in them...I've seen it at Safeway, Shoprite, and Albertsons.

Bridge: What about a nice tomato salad with a little bit of balsamic dressing? Tomatoes, red onions, and cucumbers? Pumpkin curry is amazing with some peas! I also make my own veg. meat, which is not only cheaper but tastes better. Ease into a raw, vegan, or vege diet or you're going to be miserable. Once you get used to eating this way, then you can phase out meat.
My fave vegan cookbooks are here:

I love to cook! There are so many great cookbooks out there. I would love to do raw, but I love certain foods too much. I eat really healthy anyways lol. Any cuisine you can imagine can be made vegetarian or vegan. I just bought a Southern Cookbook from a friend, who has recipes for jerk popcorn shrimp, which I'm anxious to try.

Missy: Don't worry it may take another day or two, but it will go away. I've had pimples for the last three days, but now they seem to be getter better. Keep up the good work, it'll pay off in the end.

Mjm: Congrats on your progress!!! If you do decide to stay past day 10, we'll be here for ya.

Ducki: You are going to be so happy for yourself. I know that this is your first Mc, but you may want to read the detox phases. I broke my wrist a few months ago and hurt my ankle. I'm going past day 21 so my body can heal the past injuries. For example, I had a bum knee because I damaged it when I was figure skating at age 12 (damn axles). I've had phantom pains for years, but after my 28 day Mc, I haven't had any pains...just some cracking.

Love: I can't remember my dreams right now. I'm sleeping so sound. Congrats on Day 7.

Congrats MJM! You've made it to day 10, which is reason to celebrate even if you keep on going! :D

Duckiedee, you are doing awesome! As hard as it can be mentally to take on fasting, the idea of eating like that for a full week before is even harder to me. lol The last couple days are big for me to prepare myself and I treat myself to something I wouldn't normally have - this time it was hummus and pita. :p I came to MC after having been on antibiotics myself. I did a 3-week course of minocycline because there's a strong link between C.pneumoniae and MS. It had me feeling so crappy, brought on the MS fatigue and brain fog big time. So, by day 2 of my first MC I was on top of the world! lol

love_earth, I've been sleeping like a rock too. If I'm dreaming, I don't remember it!

Boneyardpixie, I've got stuff going on with lymph too. I've been doing accupressure on the points in the elbows to try and get stuff moving out of there. My tongue is still coated too...I'm just gonna hope that when I go for the 30-day I will end up all clear! Is the Alverado bread gluten-free? I haven't heard of it. I usually get the Glutino flax bread. I would be happy with just a few pieces, but at $6 a loaf, I make sure it doesn't go to waste!

Day 17 here and I'm still doing good. I think I've figured out my odd thoughts on food are about protein. Now I've got red meat on the mind, which I've had once in the last 3.5 years or so. lol I don't think it's the fasting that's doing it. Rather, I think it's my special diet for MS which I've been on for 1.5 years now and it's really hard to get enough protein without any beans, peas, or legumes. I didn't think it was that big of a deal as long as I ate nuts and some poultry and fish, but I was obviously not getting enough because I started losing lean body mass. ugh Thank goodness for hemp protein powder! Hopefully, I'll get enough protein in me to stave off the red meat thoughts once I'm eating again.

I use a ton of nutritional yeast. I sprinkle it on things. I cook with it. I dip faux veg meat in it and it tastes like chicken to me. Check it out =) It's caulk full of all the B vitamins and tastes great.

Yeast Meets West

Yeast is considered by many to be the most valuable supplement available. It is a complete protein and contains more protein than meat. Yeast is an excellent source of B-vitamins including B12 and it contains the glucose tolerance factor that helps in the regulation of blood sugar. It is a single-celled fungi present in the air around us and on fruits and grains - it converts various types of sugar to alcohol. The earliest recorded use was in 1550 BC in Egypt. But it is only during the last few decades that the outstanding health benefits of nutritional yeast have been researched.

Raised On Molasses

Nutritional yeast is grown on mineral enriched molasses and used as a food supplement. At the end of the growth period, the culture is pasteurized to kill the yeast. You never want to use a live yeast (i.e. baking yeast) as a food supplement because the live yeast continues to grow in the intestine and actually uses up the vitamin B in the body instead of replenishing the supply. (Brewer's yeast is nutritionally the same but as a by-product of the beer-brewing industry it has a characteristic bitter hops flavor).

It's Good For Ya'

Nutritional yeast contains 18 amino acids (forming the complete protein) and 15 minerals. Being rich in the B-complex vitamins, it is vital in many ways and particularly good for stress reduction. The B-complex vitamins help make nutritional yeast such a valuable supplement, especially to the vegetarian. The non-GMO Red Star T-6635 yeast Sundance carries in bulk is fortified with B12, a nutrient generally found only in animal food sources. Yeast, though technically a fungus, is considered a vegetarian food, since yeast cells do not "have a face." One element of yeast is the trace mineral chromium, also known as the Glucose Tolerance Factor (GTF). This is necessary to regulate blood sugar and is important for diabetics and people with a tendency toward low blood sugar.

Ooooh, I once made a fake sprinkle cheese with nutritional yeast and cashews. I used it once on GF pizza but never did anything else with it. I will have to add that back in! I had no idea it was a complete protein, or that it had chromium. Thanks! :) Is it good on salads?

Just ending day 21. Today wasn't so good:( I was bored with work (sitting in front of a computer, not having anything engaging to do) and I think I also became bored with the fact that I couldn't reach out for a snack. The only thing there staring back at me was my 60oz bottle of lemonade. I started to think about squeezing limes and that didn't make me feel any better. I even left work early to get some sleep to see if I would feel better. Not much luck there. Hoping to continue to about Sunday (25 days) though.
My weight seems to have stalled at 185. Did 20 mins of dancing last night. I felt good that I did something. The weight loss is noticeable now. I have to wear a belt with my pants and for those with no loops, a pin:eek: Think I will do a detox bath tomorrow.
With regards to elimination, I am still seeing stuff. I like that. No pink tongue yet. Mouth is still very dry especially at nights. Have to rinse on my trips to the bathroom. My mouth is so dry that it doesn't open up freely.

Christene and boneyardpix, thanks for the recipes, links and advice. I am looking forward to try some of those recipes and also to introduce them to my family.

Ok guys, hope I feel better tomorrow when I get up or when I read some posts.

Congratultions on your cleanse to date. I does get easier taking the SWF especially if you get it hot enough to easily swallow.

Thanks for the support Christene. I'm finishing day 4 now, haven't really had all the bad detox symptoms I've been reading about. I have been tired though. I am finding the SWF to get a little easier to tolerate. This morning I put a little too much cayenne in my LA and boy did it have some kick, and I can tolerate some heat. Tomorrow should be interesting since it will be the first day I will actually have to work since starting the cleanse. I'm planning on waking up early enough to do the SWF so that I can get everything out before I have to leave the house. A couple days before I started the cleansed I was walking a few miles a day, but since starting the cleanse, I've been afraid to walk more than a mile as I might need to go, so I've been walking a mile the past few days. As sleepy as I was, I still have enough physical energy to take that walk. So far, it hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be, and as long as I'm drinking enough water between LA, I'm not really hungry, except of course when I smell something my mom is cooking, and she is an awesome cook. But I have resisted the urge to cheat.:)

Good morning!!!

This cleanse has been far more productive than my first cleanse. I think I noticed some parasites *yuck* another reason to stop eating meat and diary. I noticed that my 1st MC had lots a solids even on day 25, but this go around I seen to be clearing the solids out fast.

I feel so light in the and good. There seems to be a burst of energy this stage of the cleanse and the SM Tea starts working at after 5-6 vicious Ferndale to 7 1/2 ounces of hours. I drink it between 10:00 - 11:30 pm and when I wake at 4:30 am my stomach is cramping and has to release before the SWF. I'm shocked that that's all the sleep that I need, but I'm greatful that I awake well rested. Does the SM tea work that fast on anyone else?

Yes, Tuesday night I drank the tea and had to get up at 5 am to go the the bathroom and last night I drank the tea at 9:30 and at 9:45 had cramps and had a BM! I have decided to do day 11. I must be insane. I was hungry and grouchy yesterday. Food is really starting to look good and get tempting but, I pooped out a lot today and my tongue isn't pink yet. Hope I feel better today. I am having a terrible time sleeping. I get muscle spasms in my arms and legs kind of like resless leg syndrom and it drives me nuts. I can't lie still. Is anyone else having these? If so, how do you get rid of them?

Hello Master Cleansers! I would like to introduce myself.
I'm a 32 y.o. male from Mississauga, Canada and my diet consists of meats / vegetables and fruits. I came upon the Master Cleanse on some morning talk show and was intrigued (they were actually promoting a green smoothie cleanse mixed from vegetables, and mentioned the Master Cleanse.

I decided to do it for detox and hopefully loosing some weight (I would like to loose about 30 lb from where I started (227 lb).

I'm on my second day.
My first day was quite tough. Cravings out of this world and felt hungry all day. I'm 222 LB today. ! Lost over 5 lbs overnight! Lemonade is tasty. I'm drinking 8 glasses per day.

My night was restless - it was hard for me to fall asleep.

I did the salt water flush today morning - even with warm water it's aweful. The first cup was ok, but the last 3 cups were tough. The last cup I though I will vomit while drinking it. It worked it's purpose shortly after.

I feel good today... cravings seem to have subsided.

Day 11

Brushed my teeth and my tounge is pink!!! Just got back from my weight training workout and I am drained. I figure I have tapped out my nutritional reserves and I have decided to break the fast after all. I could have only gone through today because I have to go to my 35th high school reunion next week in Houston, Tx, yes a Texan, and need the 4 days to go back to normal eating. I have lost 9.2 lbs and 10" total, 2" off my chest, 4.5" off my waist, 2" off my hips and 1 1/2" off my thighs!!!!!!! I live in North Carolina now and love it here. I come home Sunday night and then off to Hilton Head, SC Monday for 4 days. Home for less than a week and off the Clemson, SC for the weekend to take my baby, he's 6'4", to college. After all of that I will probably need to do another fast so, I will probably see you all soon. Thanks to everyone for the advice and companionship. Good luck on your journeys.

Day 14 here, finally hit the 2 week mark. It feels like I just started - and even though I'm 14 days in, it feels like 6 days is still a long way to go. I have been increasingly wanting to eat. It doesn't even matter what. I'm not really craving the bad stuff. In fact, I would LOVE a nice salad. Bad stuff doesn't repulse me either though, I'd eat a burger or pizza just as easily as I'd devour the salad. I just try to take my mind off of food when I start feeling so hungry. I'm reading Twilight, which totally absorbs me. Being able to escape into the book definitely helps! :)

I've been drinking fewer lemonades the last few days - only 6 instead of the usual 8 that I had been drinking. I know I should be drinking more to quell the hunger. I'll try and get some more in today and see if that helps.

Feeling really weak today. I wish I could have just stayed in bed and slept. Also feeling some almost hearburn type of symptoms - feeling weird in my chest area. I'm sure it's just detox, since I am dragging today. I hope that this will pass soon and I'll go back to feeling somewhat normal. On my first cleanse of 20 days, I was SOOO weak all the time, especially during the second half. I don't want to have to deal with that again. I've noticed that in the last couple of days I've been sleeping much more deeply than I had been, and it's harder to get out of bed. Looking forward to sleeping in a bit on Saturday.

My weight's been pretty stagnant, over the 2 weeks I've only lost about 6 pounds. Then again, I never lose a lot on my cleanses. I think 10 lbs. was the most on my first cleanse. I figure that my body is just busy cleaning house elsewhere. I'm also not as freezing cold as I've been in the past.

Hanging in there. :o

Happy Cleansing All!

Hi Byk and welcome!

MJM, you had great results! And a pink tongue...I'm jealous. lol Congrats & have fun at your reunion!

Nymue, I was feeling weak like that a few days ago too. I turned it around in less than 24 hours by increasing my lemonades. So you're probably on the right track there. :) You're cleanse sounds similar to how mine has gone. I haven't weighed myself since I don't really need to lose, but I would guess around 5 or 6 lbs. And, like you, I think about all kinds of food - good and bad! lol Hopefully you will hit that stage where it's not nagging at you so much. The last couple days haven't been a big deal, I think about the food but it's not distracting me.

Diary Day Fifteen

After my morning SWF I had lots of Butt Pee today with not much energy….tongue is looking clearer with not such a thick coating as it did early in the MC….I don’t have to brush and comb it each day anymore………it only has a 50-50 light coating now.

Then had a hot Epsom salt bath for half an hour after a body brush and then rugged up and sweated it out for another half an hour.

Had weird dreams that night, dreaming of being in the past same venue with my friends again but planning a much brighter future with lots of plans and optimism…..guess the cleanse is clearing out the old and making way for the new days ahead…..there you go I should have been a dream soothsayer……….lol:rolleyes:

Hi guys, Day 22.
I am feeling much better this morning. Swallowing feels weird to me since yesterday. It's as is something is making me want to swallow, even though there is nothing there. It's weird, not my sinuses or anything, just the act of swallowing has become a conscious effort. Don't know if that makes any sense.
I had a nice dream last night too:) I saw lots of tomatoes on some trees. They were big and beautiful. I hear its a good dream, prosperity and all that's good :)
The scale moved has moved to 183.6 this morning, good. That's a little encouragement for me. I will be doing a detox bath later.
To all who are trying nothing is wrong with trying, it's when we give up totally that we defeat ourselves. So drink up and try again8)

I am on day 6 and have only lost 1lb. I have been following everything to the tee. I feel so discourged I want to cry. I feel so incredably bloated. What am I doing wrong.

I'm wondering if you're following the guidelines of the Master Cleanse specificially?

You're supposed to drink at least 6 glasses of the MC lemonade each day... up to 12/dy depending on how you feel. Each glass of lemonade consists of 2 TBSP of Grade B maple syrup + 2 TBSP of freshly juiced lemon (organiclemons are preferred) + at least 1/10th TSP of cayenne pepper (more if possible). Add this to 8 oz of filtered or spring water. It's permissible to use only 1 TSBP of maple syrup if you're trying to lose weight. But you may need the 2 TBSP per glass for the energy... you have to experiment and see how you feel.

It's also important to drink lots of filtered or spring water through the day to help 'flush' the toxins that are being stirred up out of' your system. A lot of cleansers alternate... one glass of lemonade, then one 8 oz glass of water... then a glass of lemonade... another glass of water, etc. A rule of thumb is to drink about 1/2 of your body weight in fl oz of water. eg. if you weight 160 lbs, drink 80 oz of water/day. In addition to the lemonades.

Use sienna-based laxative tea before bedtime each evening you're on the cleanse (including the night before the day you actually start the cleanse). And do a SWF (salt water flush) first thing in the am when you get up. You're supposed to drink the salt water while your stomach is still empty. You dissolve 2 TSP sea salt (non-iodized) in 32 oz of warm water (can use cold but most cleansers myself included have preferred a warmer drink)... and drink it down. You should get results in about an hour.

Some cleansers find they retain water when they use the SWF, and decide instead to use the laxative tea both before bed each evening, and again first thing the following am while their stomach is still empty.

I hope this helps. You didn't tell us what your weight was when you started? Maybe weight loss isn't really an issue for you? But these are the basic guidelines - it you need to lose some weight, you should find it happening naturally if you follow these guidelines and don't eat/drink anything else during the cleanse.

Day 16!!

Its the weekend. I'm nervous. Last weekend I could not get 6 LAs down. I realize that it's because I'm at home and resting from the work week. When I'm at work my co-workers taunt me and they're always eating in my face to provoke me  *they act so juvenile and negative about MC*. I carry a Cool Pack which is like a mini fridge with a purse strap. I keep several invidual containers with MS and organic lemon or lime juice in it. When I'm ready I just add water. I do it that way to preserve the emzymes. They eat the sugar in the MS to stay alive. I think that's why my cleanse is advancung so fast. The enzymes begin to die once water is added to the equation. Ok I'm rambling  I need to try to be semi active to that I can drink without getting so full on water and 3 LAs....:o

Diary Day Sixteen

A low day physically and emotionally here……….put it down to coming off one of my stronger medications yesterday as my doctor had told me to watch for dizziness and other negative symptoms like negative mood swings or spiraling down into a depression.

With my doctors advice I have been staggering the dates for coming off my three medications to allay any serious side effects. I didn’t come off any when I started the MC because the first few days are usually a challenge in themselves for me.

With the new Medical Care System that the Government is trying to implement now all I can say is we better get healthy now and not need to visit a medical practitioner in the future. Your present system in the USA is currently better than any of the others around especially those that had tried to unsuccessfully implement and use this new system you are looking to bring in ….. Australia (where I came from) tried it with the same scheme type that they called ‘Medicare’ and it didn’t work mainly because their Government used to regularly skim off the top of the monies gathered.

What is to stop the USA Government doing the same here I ask you?

Okay I have had my rant now but wondering if the Government medial scheme would pay for me to have a tattoo across my chest that says “Don’t Resuscitate”?

I plead the fifth amendment and blame it all on the “meds”………..lol

Day 11! I am so psyched! I was going to stop at 10 days but woke up and the middle of my tongue is getting pink so I decided to keep going until my whole tongue turns pink (I am praying that happens soon!) This gross white stuff has gotta go! I also have lost 10 lbs and am very happy with that - Couple ?s that I am hoping someone will answer - Peter or Christene maybe? I understand the logic of the toxins leaving my body so therefore losing weight but I am averaging 6-8 drinks per day which I calculated to still be under 1000 cals. Should I worry when i go more towards the 1200-1500 calories about the weight coming back? I am going to be very careful about the sweet and do a lot of veggies, fruits, nuts, etc but I do also eat meat, chicken... I will not be attempting the totally raw thing anytime soon:)
Also, I saw somewhere about a detox bath? Can someone tell me what they recommend putting in it?

Thank you and for newbies - you can totally do it!

Day 5 for me... so far so good. I had a CRAZY dream that was so real, I was making food with friends and I totally ate some then realized what I had done and started freaking out... then I woke up and was like "phew". It creeped me out, usually I don't have such vivid dreams.

Anyways, other than some general tiredness and light headaches mostly in the evenings, I'm doing well. I only was really tempted to cheat on day 1 and 3, but I haven't given in. I think it helps staying busy, I generally work during the day and have classes at night. Like some other people have said above, I tend to mix my lemon juice and MS into a "concentrate", then I add water and cayanne to that when I'm ready to drink.

I'm felt my thinking start to get clearer, though I'm still too tired to really work out. Also I have lost 9 lbs so far, I started at 215 and the scale said 206 this morning!

Good luck!

Hello everyone! I am 22 yrs old 5'4", 135 lbs. and this is my first time cleansing! My mother used to do the cleanse all the time whenever her MS was acting up, and now we are just doing it to get healthy.

Woohoo! I'm so glad there is a forum that I can update everyday so that I can stay motivated.

I tried to start yesterday, but I bought the book in the middle of the day and realized I was doing it all wrong. I used bottled lemon juice. Anyway, I started and my real day one is today!! I would like to go 30 days and re-vamp my entire body. I feel like this could be my biggest challenge yet! I'm really excited right now and I just hope I can keep it up when times get tough! (And I know they will.)

I am most worried about people in my life who are telling me that it is not healthy to stop eating for 30 days. Any ideas on what exactly I can tell these people?! I have only told a couple people so far and both of them told me I probably couldn't do it anyway. So that was a little disappointing to hear that they had no faith in me whatsoever. I probably will try and not tell anyone else.

The only thing that matters is that I think I can do it. And I KNOW I can if I really want it. So I just need to keep my mind in the right place. ;)

Missy, I think that setting a date to start is a good thing. It really helps me prepare mentally. Yeah, if you are eating all raw, you will still detox. It's just slower/milder. That may make for an easier MC come August. Good luck! :)

Hi everyone,

I am so happy this forum exists, I feel so alone on this cleanse!

This is Day 2 of my FIRST cleanse. Two years ago I did a 4 days juice fast over Lent, but this is very different, obviously. I am hoping to fit into a gown next friday as I am an opera singer and can't fit into my clothes at the moment!

missyyssim- I just wanted to say to you- stick with it! Try again tomorrow. Yesterday was my Day 1 perfectly on the Cleanse with little problems, but I had actually tried to start it the day before. I made it thru the late afternoon and then got insane hunger pains and cravings. I ended up eating a Lean Cuisine and a spinach salad. I decided not to beat myself up about it and gave it another try yesterday with happy results. I think the reason is was so impossible the first day I tried was that I had a huge pizza and cookies with my boyfriend the night before. We don't eat HORRIBLY, (it was a homemade pizza with whole wheat crust topped with light cheese and kale), but all the same... I think I slowly had to decrease my amount of food before starting the Cleanse successfully.

Everyone wish me luck! 8 days seems really far away right now, but I really want to see if I can make it!!! ;)

Hey, I just wanted to point out that this is not a diet, it's a cleanse and you're not supposed to like it really, you are doing it to become more healthy and detoxify your body. It's not a short term weight-loss plan and if you treat it that way, it is definitely not going to be worth it.
That is my opinion. I would rather diet and work my butt off than not eat for however many days. You have to keep the ultimate goal in mind, and it shouldn't be the weightloss. ;) Hope that is helpful and not offensive! Happy cleansing!

So I just need to keep my mind in the right place. ;)

Sorry to hear you're not getting a lot of support from the people around you. i'm not sure if I'm going to go 30 days for my first MC, but I would like to try to go more than 10. It seems like you can find a lot of support here. This is the end of Day 6 for me and it really hasn't been all that bad so far, I think I will try to do this at least 4 times a year as recommended. Don't let people bring you down or discourage you. I know how disappointing it can be when people have no faith in you, I sometimes get that from my own family. My mom doesn't think I'll make it to 10 days. You can tell them before they make judgements a criticize, why don't they read about the cleanse themselves.

Veggiegal:
:::::Sunmnstrs Detox Bath::: :D

(Do not use any lotion or anything that will clog the pores).

I tried this and it is so relaxing!!! :p

Missyyssim:
I tried to start my 2nd cleanse 3 times in Feb. I had to make my mind up once and for all. Personally I started this cleanse during the work week (on Thursday since I work M-F). I went to Walmart and purchased several 20 ounce rubbermaid containers and a Cool Pack. Then I mix my lemon juice and ms and put it in each container. I put enough lemon juice /ms containers in my Cool Pack (one for every 2 hours that I'm at work) I make myself drink 1 glass of LA every 2 hours when I beginning the cleanse to cut down on the cravings and hunger pains that are generally associated with the first few days and it works. I take about 8-10 16oz bottles of spring water to work too, Then on Day three since I am off I'm able to rest. By Day 5 I am able to take less LA to work because my system has adjusted. Another tip. I read the board a week or so before and I begin to read all kinds of encouraing detox books and articles. I mentally hype myself up. :D Sometimes you have to be your biggest encourager. I have a husband and 3 children (11, 7, and 2 years old ) who seem to eat every meal that I love to eat during the cleanse and I'm the one who has to prepare them without sampling the food or even enjoying it. But it's worth it. :o The rewards of this cleanse are far greater than endulging in food. You can it do we are all here to support each other. Stay positive and patient. Don't beat yourself up either. You'll get it next time. When you feel yourself getting tempted come to the board and post your feelings for encouragement or read the board 9 times out of ten someone else is feeling the same way or have felt that way too. ;)

Ali:
I tend to not tell people. 2 of my sisters saw my weight loss during my 1st cleanse and did it a week later after I broke my fast. All my coworkers know now since one lady figured it out. She tried the cleanse before with negative results (she quit on day 1). She is my worst crictic. I politely told her the benefits and when she comes daily with her negative comments I remind her that I am a strong-willed person with discipline and self control. Then if she keeps on I tell her I prefer to let my body heal naturally. She brings food in my face all week and taunts me , but I smile at her :). Food begins to look differently after a while. Though I love it seeing the junk that passes with the SWF makes me want to detox. It tastes good and looks good going in, but how much damage is it doing on the inside? She is enslaved to food, but we have enough determination to stop eating for 10 or more days to allow this gift of a body to heal. Even on my detox days I don't let it show too many people would love to see me fail and I will not be giving them the satifaction of seeing that happen. I just smile as they walk by. There were 2 birthday parties at work and our monthly perfect attendence hour lunch catered in. It didn't phase me. I'm smiling. I'm the one who is 16 pounds lighter and my weight loss shows because of all the inches I've lost. Keep smiling and stay positive in spite of negativity!! :D

You can do it!!! Good luck. Take it one day at a time. And its that's a challenge take it moment to moment. Look at that dress for motivation!!

Tellerfish:
I haven't heard that about letting the salt water sit out over night, but I do warm it and drink it through a straw. Personally, I lay down on my right side for 30 minutes immediately after.

Middle of Day 20 for me =)

The breakouts are still happening. I even got a horrible huge ingrown pimple on my left side of my lip...it looks like something else >< I looked up facial reflexology because all my pimples are on my chin and lip area...it turns out that's where my kidneys, colon, and intestines are. Interesting! Hopefully my makeup will take care of that...I got a massage yesterday to try and move some of my toxins. It felt good, but my right shoulder hurts so much today. I know that he worked a lot on the shoulder, as I could feel all the knots. Maybe a hot bath later will do the trick.
http://www.naturalpurityhealth.com/images/face1.jpg
I'm working another double today, as well as working on my day off and Monday. At least I'll be keeping busy.

I wanted to do 30 days, but I'm thinking about going longer. I guess I'll see when that time comes. This cleanse seems to be going faster then the other three or maybe I'm just getting too old...lol

Happy Cleansing all.

Just another question of something I am unsure of. Should I be drinking 6-12 glasses of the lemonade AND ALSO 1/2 my body weight in water. Or 1/2 my body weight in lemonade AND water? Hope this makes sense.

My last day! I'm sad to stop but also a little relieved. Gonna update the Mult. Sclerosis thread b/c I've been having some symptoms. So I'm anxious to get back on my supplements. Not sure what to think about going for a 30-day MC now.

Boneyardpixie: I didn't think about trying a massage *during* the cleanse. I'm gonna have one next week, but I should've scheduled it sooner!

angel_eyez and missy: I don't know how you deal with those co-workers! Sometimes I miss working in an environment with co-workers. Then I hear stories like these and breathe a sigh of relief. I think I would probably tell them exactly where they could take their comments and stuff them! :D

Welcome tellerfish!

OK, so I'm planning to take somewhere between 3 and 4 days before eating solids again. OJ tomorrow, OJ + smoothie + broth on Monday and Tuesday, then soup on Wednesday. Sound like a good plan? I made stir-fry for the kids last night and told them I can't wait until I can have some too! Maybe towards the end of next week. ;)

Day 16 here - I'm in the home stretch! :)

Yesterday was easy, mostly because I kept busy. Usually I have a hard time when I get home from work - I don't know what to do with myself and end up just feeling hungry and thinking about food. Having to see my bf eat doesn't help either. He was out last night though, so I took the dog for a long walk and then had a bit of a spa night. I've also been breaking out some, so I gave myself a nice facial and then took a long hot shower and gave myself a mini pedicure. By the time I was done, I read for a bit and watched a little tv and then it was bedtime.

My blood pressure is staying nice and low, even without my medication. I'd really love to get off of it for good, so after the cleanse, I plan to take apple cider vinegar dailly (the good unfiltered stuff with the mother), and am also trying this stuff called diatomaceous earth http://www.earthworkshealth.com/. It's supposed to help naturally lower BP, along with a whole slew of other things. My order should be arriving right around the time I am finishing up my cleanse.
I'm also going to monitor how coffee affects my readings. I would really hate to give it up, but I guess I could try switching to decaf (which I always thought was an abomination). But the master cleanse is proving that it's definitely something in my diet that has been causing my numbers to be high - it's not just naturally high regardless.

Luckily no one at work has asked about my weird looking drinks, or walked by while I was dumping the cayenne powder in. I think they are all just used to my weird health things now, after seeing me with big bottles of green smoothies every morning for so long.

I feel like I am really getting much better cleansing in this second half of my MC than I was at the beginning. I am still getting a lot of sludge out in the mornings prior to the SWF. And I have had a few days where I've had to go in the evening also, way after the SWF has finished doing its work. And those have been HOT ones! I've read that it's the toxins that make it feel hot, but I still have a suspicion that it's a build up of cayenne.

I've managed to avoid social obligations so far, but today I have to go to a birthday party, and my boyfriend's sister is coming into town next week. Whenever his family members get together, there is always a big dinner involved, so I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with that. Even if it's after my Day 20, I'll still be going through the breaking process for a good few days after that and won't be able to eat. I'm just trying to avoid the questions that are sure to come when people see me not eating. Not that I think anyone would have any issues with what I'm doing (I'd be vague and just mention something about a cleanse anyway), but I'd rather just not get into it at all.

Hi Nymue -

It really is the toxins ! I'm basing this on having done multiple cleanses and in all that time only having maybe 5 or 6 "hot" bms. And they weren't at the end of each cleanse either. Just out of the blue, I would have a hot one or two in a row, then gone. So that pattern supports the toxin explanation, not the build up of cayenne theory.

:)
It is time for my summer cleanse. I am not really into it mentally - which is strange because for the last week and a half I have been longing to do the cleanse. Now that I am on it, I am less than enthused. Today is my day 3, though, and I am usually not in an optimistic frame of mind on days 2 and 3. I scheduled this cleanse to fit around my social obligations, and this IS the best time to do it, so I hope I can be strong and follow through. I started Thurs., 7-23 and plan to go 12 days until 8-3. I like my cleanses to be a little longer - would like to go 14 or 15 days, but am supposed to go to a big party on the 6th.

I ended my last cleanse on 6-9, but since the juice and broth days are still not "normal" days, but just another type of fast, I am counting my last day as 6-11. This means that I have had 41 normal eating days in between MCs, or just under 6 weeks. I have done fasts as close as 4 weeks apart and not had any adverse effects, except loss of motivation to stay on them.

See you all later and happy juicing!

Hi Sierramagic, this is totally OT, about the quote in your siggy. lol I've been trying to find his quote that goes something like "In the long run, we may find that the greatest man-made weapon is tinned food". It's a great quote for a sig, but I can't find it! Any ideas? :D

I agree, while you can lose weight with this, I wouldn't treat it as a diet, as it is not the answer to losing weight in the long run. It is a cleanse. I'm starting Day 7 now, I have been hungry whenever I've seen food or smelled it, usually more so when I smell it, but I think about the consequences if I were to eat even a bite of solid food right now and resist the temptation to give in. I haven't really had an awful day yet. Last night I did have quite a bit of BM, and it seemed to be a little more semi-solid than it has been, I'm hoping that was a major detox?

I haven't even weighed or measured yet. I may do it tomorrow or wait til Day 10, but I would like to try to go a little longer on the Cleanse as I know I have a lot of toxins to get rid of as evidence by my being so overweight. I do notice my pants are getting looser.

As for my diet after the cleanse, I do not plan on eating all RAW. I will try for about 75% RAW and everything including meat, poultry, etc to be organic. I know it will be a little pricier than conventional foods, but it will be less expensive than getting sick and I don't have insurance, so can't afford to get sick. I plan on doing the cleanse at least 4 times a year.

Don't give up, try to stick with at least the 10 days. Your body will thank you.

Hey everyone,

Day 10 for me. For the past 5 days I have been getting up at 5 A.M. to do my SWF before work. Because I am naturally a night owl, that was leaving me with only 3 or 4 hours of sleep a night. I was getting pretty tired. But now it is Saturday, I slept in until about 9:30 this morning and it was SO NICE. After getting a good amount of sleep I realize how good I feel, physically, mentally and spiritualy. My plan is to go until day 40, and then do a 5 day orange juice fast, and then eat only fruits and veggie broths the next 5 days until easing back into raw solids for the long run. I have never gone for 40 days before and I am hoping this plan will work well.

I have been a vegetarian for about 4 years now, and I want to go vegan after this cleanse while eating about 75% raw. I am thinking that if I eat raw only during the work week and allow myself to cheat with my favorite healthy cooked foods on the weekends I will be able to ease into a diet that will eventually be 100% raw within a year or so. Im hoping I am right when thinking that allowing myself to cheat a little on the weekends will help me stay raw most of the time since I will have something to look forward to during the weekends.

I have not lost much weight so far this time around, even though I am quite overweight but that really is not of much concern to me as I am using the cleanse to help me detox and transform into a healthier life style. I am however curious as to why my weight isnt going down and I am hoping everything is working as it should. I certainly am eliminating a lot of toxins either way. :)
Have a good day everyone!

Finally decided to take the plunge - have been researching colon cleanses for months and just getting more and more confused with all the many products out there and trying to avoid the scams! Just recently heard about the mastercleanse through my son who completed a 5 day course. I am so excited to finally get started - will take the Senna tea tonight - a little worried as to how this process will affect the work day but we shall see!!? I didn't see any mention as to what or how many probiotics to take at the end of the 10 days, to replace any good bacteria that has been flushed out of the system. Can you please advise? Thanks.

Hello,
Today is my first day of my first MC. I did the SWF this morning and it seemed to work. I've had two cups of Lemonade, since I didn't get up until 9am. Is it ok to mix ice with the lemondae?

Hey all, I have been reading this site for quite some time. This is my second MC. The last one I did was between Tday and Xmas last year. It was a 10 day. I am finishing day 2 on this one after two failed attempts at starting in the last month or two. This time I have less distractions going on and I think this one will stick. After my last MC I had a kidney stone, I finally passed it about a month ago after about 6 months of off and on pain. I know the MC didn't cause it, but it had to have some cleansing effect knocking it loose. This was my third round of kidney stones so I am no stranger to the fun they bring. :-( Just curious if anyone else has a kidney stone just after a MC. I hope I don't again, but if I do hopefully this one will move faster than the last one.

Hello everyone!
It's day 2 and I still have zero energy. I know its my lack of caffeine. This happens to me anytime I cut out caffeine so I know its not just the no food thing.

Thank you angel_eyez816 and SpaTreats2U for your encouraging comments!! They helped raise my spirits so much! Luckily I haven't had to see anyone this weekend and my family has been out of town, so nobody has seen me lay around the couch all day and feel like crap haha

So I have a very important question!!

This morning I had a little bit of something in my eliminations, but the last 3-4 times I've gone to the restroom its been yellow or green water. With NOTHING in it. How normal is this? I feel like I have all the old food and stuff out of my intestines, but I'm just wondering when the old yucky leftover stuff that has been there a long time will start to break up and come out? It seems weird to me that my elimination is completely clear. Maybe my body needs time to break it down?

Another thing, the SWF makes me go all day. It's not like 30 - 90 minutes or whatever. It's almost 5pm and I'm still having water come out.. I just don't know what to expect I guess. I read the whole book, but maybe I'll go check out some other forums and see what other people are experiencing in their earlier days.

Also, white stuff on tongue?? Do people not brush their teeth? Am I allowed to brush my teeth? haha so many questions. Please help!!

I'm on day 6 now. So far so good... still trucking along. I have to say that it does help a TON having someone else doing this with me, it makes it almost like a competition.

Last night was rough because I had a get together with a bunch of friends to play music and they cooked a bunch of food to share with everyone. The ironic thing is they had a giant water jug full of water and fresh lemons :) I endured the suffering of not eating with them and just enjoying my juice and they packaged up some food for me to freeze when I'm done with the fast.

Today has been extremely slow for me, my family is gone for the weekend and I'm not at work so I'm at home alone and pretty bored (a detox symptom right?). At least I'm not really tempted to eat anything so far today. I did have to buy more lemons though.

Also, has anyone been able to find organic limes??? I've looked at maybe 4-5 different stores and have been unsuccessful.

I suppose I'll check in again in a couple days

Diary Day Seventeen

More weird and intriguing dreams during the night.

Kept myself busy by hand mowing some of the acre or so grass around the farm house and mucking out the cow pens and strewing fresh hay down for them. The activity seemed to lift me somewhat and being out in the fresh air was wonderful.

All the food looked wonderful on the television and magazines today and I could just as easily: mindlessly joined my man in a feast of potato crisps and a can of coke….its a habit only I realized when I really analyzed it all and asked myself did I really want it? The answer surprisingly was that I didn’t want it at as I wasn’t hungry. With time on my hands I looked at what I would prefer to eat and the real answer was one of those great Avocado and Pink Grapefruit salads. I am never going to eat crisps again I told myself then………..for if I even take one that unknown ingredient “X” that is in them will start the old SAD food cycle rolling once more.

There are tastier and healthier foods to eat in my future raw food step process.:D

Diary Day Eighteen
Again I had more dreams……Now that has been three days running and all with a definite morale to the plot and the story lines.

Packed my ‘Lemonhead Bag’ with 2 bottles of freshly squeezed lemon, maple syrup and water and the bottle of Cayenne Pepper to add at the last moment: took Peppermint tea bags and extra bottles of water to tide me over till I returned.

Went shopping for the weekly groceries and realized how little we spend when I don’t eat (at least half of the food tally………………grins!). Went to see the latest Harry Potter movie and that two or more hours flew past as I sipped only water (they do not allow you to bring in your own food so you have to buy a small bottle of water for $3.

As we came out from shopping the heavens opened and poured the rain down soaking up both to the skin so because my man decided he wanted his usual cheese burger we went to the Mc Burger place where he had two burgers and I had my cup of hot water for my tea bag and let the water run off my Akubra hat and my jacket in small rivulets that eventually turned to droplets before stopping.

My jeans I managed to wring out somewhat but they still clung to my body like glad wrap……it reminded me of my younger days where we used to put on our jeans wet and lay down on the bed to pull the zipper up with a wire coat hanger: and let them dry as we leaned languidly against the wall nonchalantly so that we could have the tightest ‘form fitted’ jeans ever…………..made to order just for us…….lol

It was a long tiring day so I went to bed early after my SM tea.

Not that I think anyone would have any issues with what I'm doing (I'd be vague and just mention something about a cleanse anyway), but I'd rather just not get into it at all.

Congratulations.......I really have enjoyed your posts

Ouch those are nasty and they really hurt:confused:.........I used to sit with ice cubes alternatively with hot face cloths (but they always persisted and lasted about three days). Hey that could be hormone area there also, what think you?

If it is the colon area try a Caster Oil pack on the tummy .... put a piece of clean woollen cloth into some Caster oil and put that on your tummy, cover with a lot of plastic wrap then cover with a towel and lastly a warm blanket and rest like that for about and hour before toweling off and having a warm shower. Good Luck!

That massage sounds so good think I will get one also next weekend as a treat and to get my shoulder and rotor cuff worked on as well.....thanks for the idea.

I am right behind you on day 19.

Hey Everyone,

I hope all of you are doing well and able to easily stick to the Mc. I'm sorry that I haven't had time to respond to people's posts like I was before. I've been super busy. I've picked up a lot of shifts at the bar again (like two weeks ago).
Today is the middle of day 21! Yeah. I've been doing well. Still am broken out, blah. I ended up getting another massage yesterday because that first massage killed me. Now, I like hard massages, but I think he pushed some pressure points that just didn't help out my cause at all...Not sure if he released toxins or it was just a bad massage. The massage I had yesterday helped so much. She even told me the pressure points she was using. So apparently, I have weak lungs (my bf smokes) and that my digestive system (stomach and intestines) aren't doing so well. I told her that I was fasting and how. She said that was good, but didn't comment after that. Yesterday, I passed some mucus and the last two days the lax tea eliminations have been really stinky. Maybe she was sensing that I'm going through a deep cleanout right now.
I'm back to being tired again. I slept 11 hours today, which puts me behind on everything. I can't do the salt water flush till after I go to work at 430pm. I'm going to feel weird until then.
I did notice that some of my receding gum line has grown back!!!! My psoriasis is doing well and you can't even see it. Now I'm just waiting for my ankle and wrist to hurt for a few days and heal itself!!

Hugs and warm thoughts to all!

Christene: Thanks for the idea. I'll give it a go tomorrow. I've seen some facial charts that have that area as hormonal...Also in my hands and feet, my female organs are tender...maybe all those years of birth control flushing out? Fibroid tumors run in my family too.

Day 3 and I can feel my energy coming back. YAY!! I might actually do something today other than lay around haha!

I have a question, last night I had the worst headache of my life and I was restless as I was trying to sleep. It was about 3am when I broke down and took some melatonin to sleep. I went right to sleep after that. So how much does that mess up my detox? Am I basically at square one here or do I just continue and never do it again?

I had a dream last night that I was eating chille verde (my favorite) and it was smothered in cheese with chips and salsa. No kidding, best dream ever! I woke up feeling like I had been eating my favorite food all night long! It was vivid and awesome. I felt sad at first that I had given up on my cleanse, but then I woke up just stoked that I hadn't, but I feel like god must've given me a little treat for being good. haha!

I hope everyone is doing well!! Happy cleansing!

ali: although you don't have to start at square one, your body will have to detox that out. Headaches are a detox sign. It is inconvenient, but it's also a milestone. Try not to introduce anything else in the MC or it will slow your detox.

Hi Sierramagic, this is totally OT, about the quote in your siggy. lol I've been trying to find his quote that goes something like "In the long run, we may find that the greatest man-made weapon is tinned food". It's a great quote for a sig, but I can't find it! Any ideas? :D

Crystal
MC2 Day 20 of 20!!!

I went on Academic Search Elite (a search engine available through most college libraries) looking under non-peer reviewed articles in the field of nutrition with this search criteria: greatest AND man-made AND weapon AND tinned AND food . There were over 9000 results, which I did not want to weed through. Since we don't use the expression "tinned food" anymore I suspect this is either a quote from the UK or an older quote from the early days of canning food. If you have any idea of the source being from another country, add that to your search criteria. If not, I would start from the oldest dated article moving to the soonest. Good luck!

:(Hey everyone,

Day 11 here. Okay this is really weird, but last night I accidentally breathed in a tiny fruit fly through my nose and then I felt it in the back of my throat. I tried as hard as I could to caugh it out, but no matter what I did it wouldnt budge and unfortunately I think I might have swallowed it.
I really hope I am wrong but if I really did swallow it does that mean I have to start over now? I mean, that would be pure protein! I really really don't want to start over because I am now 1/4 done with my cleanse and I was feeling so good about how far I was getting without even an urge to cheat! I am thinking I can just ignore it and keep on going like nothing happened, am I right?

Please please tell me that my fast wont be ruined from that?! I hope my detoxing wont be slowed down because of it!?

Almost end of day 3 here also. Feeling good, definately Day 2 is the worst for me, once I get over day 2 it is pretty smooth from there. Gotta go back to work tomorrow and am relieved as it will take some of the boredom away. I never tell my co-workers what I am doing, I am able to keep it pretty quiet. When they ask whats in the drink bottle I just tell them tea which it looks pretty close to. The hardest part is Friday when everyone wants to go out for lunch, I just tell them I can't today, I have a meeting.

One thing I can highly recommend is a Jack Lelanne power juicer. I bought one AFTER my last cleanse just for the OJ after it. For this MC I am using it to juice lemons. Usually I yield 4 tbsp. of juice from 1 large lemon, enough for 2 drinks. Every once and a while it is 3.5 and I just peel another lemon and store/refrigerate the extra juice for a few hours in a little container. With small lemons it is 1 lemon per drink.

Quick question, guys:

I use to buy the Madhava brand Organic Raw Agave Nectar from whole foods and now it seems as if not only they've discontinued carrying it, but also the online retailer I use to buy it from as well. Not sure what the deal is, but was wondering: I bought the 365 brand Organic Raw Agave Nectar and want to know if it is the same thing. I'm pretty confident it is, but would like confirmation if possible. Basically, is Organic Raw Agave Nectar pretty much Organic Raw Agave Nectar regardless of what brand it is?

Thanks!

-edit-

I just tested both the 365 version and the Madhava and found two differences:

Difference 1: The 365 version is dark, while the Madhava is practically transparent.

Difference 2: The 365 version is MUCH sweeter than the Madhava.

Is there a reason for the above differences?

Day 7 pretty much completed - feel really good. Last couple of days had some cravings, but back to them subsiding for today. 8 more days to go to my goal. I've decided when I finish I'm going to go on 2 days of Grape juice vs OJ and then onto a two-week Grape Cure. Which is all raw grapes and juice. From there I'll be tranistioning to fruits and veggies, yogurt and so on.

Back to lots of energy today - but I am still ready to hit the bed early each night.

Glad I'm not doing this for weightloss - I've lost get this ----- ONE POUND! in the last seven days. LOL. Mind you I would love if this included weightloss! I lost more on my fruits and veggies the week before.

I just got over my period, so it's either that or maybe because I'm at a weight that has always been a tough 'set point' to get below. I'm hoping once I do pass it by a couple of pounds that it'll start to come off easier. Whatever - the main point is I feel better and that I'm detoxing. I worry without the fat loss though that my detox may be slow too? Since it's supposed to be in your fat cells.

Cheers! Happy lemons.... when the going gets tough - make LEMONADE!!!

Something I was wondering about. Does everyone find the smell of food right now is somehow "muted?"

I just find that it still smells good - but maybe it's not stimulating that salivatory gland or something? I would have thought the smell would drive me crazy with cravings, but it doesn't.

Anyone else?

When I read your message, I couldn't stop laughing! It reminded me of a time when I was cleansing and my husband had given me a passionate kiss after having just taken a bite of some spaghetti...well, I swear I ended up eating a tiny morsel that had not been swallowed by him and I freaked out! Although not an expert, I have successfully cleansed four different times, I would venture to say that you DO NOT need to start your fast over or worry about the tiny fly that you accidentally ingested! Thanks for the laugh!

Love Earth: I think that you'll be ok. I doubt that a fruit fly will wake up your digestive system =P
Congrats on your progress so far. How long are you doing the cleanse for?

jfkansas: I've thought about buying a juicer. I've had one in the past, but didn't use it...I really love tomato juice and want to start making my own.

Ducky: I've heard of woman on the cleanse that didn't lose weight during their monthly cycle, but then lost three lbs later. Good luck!

gjmc: It depends per person. I usually start about 1/2 an hour later and finish within the hour or hour and a half. The amount of time I spend in the bathroom has decreased, since doing this cleanse multiple times. When I first did the cleanse, I remember that I had to sit in the bathroom for 30 min, when the swf first started working. Just pay attention to your body and you'll figure it out.

McNoob: Not to be rude, but I don't think this is the right forum for you to be asking this. This is for talking about your current Mc, not products.

I'm just finishing up Day 8. At the moment, not sure if I can go past Day 10, but I'll decide when I wake up in the morning on what would be Day 11. Tonight and the last 2 nights I've been having BM late at night, which don't seem to be as watery as they are during the day. And my stomach is cramping a little too. I hope that is just the normal detox symptom. I had a dream last night that I ate a slice of a brownie cake with whipped cream and caramel and nuts on top, which is weird because I really don't eat a lot of chocolate, let alone a brownie cake. I freaked out in my dream because i cheated, but then realized when I woke up, it was just a dream. I remember when I quit smoking, I had dreams about smoking. I'm not really sure that I've gotten that mental clarity everybody has been talking about yet. Oh well, I will take it a day at a time.

Hey Lemon Heads!
I just finished my tea and am on the eve of my sixth cleanse! I have to admit, it's been WAY too long between my fasts, so it feels great to be back. This time, my sister and her partner are doing it with me and it's their first time. I'm excited about that for multiple reasons. Most of all, two more people are going to learn about the wonderful benefits of this remarkable cleanse.

Ducky-- Regarding your sense of smell question...I've noticed that all my senses are heightened on the cleanse. However, smelling delicious foods doesn't make me want to cheat and eat...I just enjoy the savory aromas.

SpaTreats--Regarding the clarity that others refer to, I think the experience is different for everyone. In fact, in can be different for the SAME person on different fasts! For expample, I have compleeted the cleanse 4 times. I have never suffered from severe physical de-tox symptoms, but what I DID experience was emotional de-toxing. It would take a lot of time and space to explain what I peraonally experienced on my fasts, but I can definitely say that it was quite different from one fast to the next...almost like layers of baggage were being stripped away! So, back to clarity...it comes in many forms. Small suggestion: keep a journal for each fast.

Today is my first day of the cleanse- and the first time I've ever done any form of cleanse or fast!! My friend and I are doing it together, which is a huge relief for me. I will definitely need her support because this will be the hardest thing I've ever done. And I admit I'm not getting off to a great start after a weekend of a little too much drinking and eating....but did my Senna tea (Smooth Move) last night and this morning, so things are moving along quite well. I absolutely cannot do the SWC- I will definitely puke, so I'm doing the tea in the a.m. and p.m. instead, and that will just have to be good enough. The lemonade actually is pretty good! I have a headache and my stomach is growling pretty ferociously...trying to drink lots of water in between. I am 100% committed to sticking with this for 10 days...I truly believe this is mind over matter for me, and I am going to win this one:D

Congratulations.......I really have enjoyed your posts

Thanks Christene! I must say that I have really enjoyed reading your posts as well!

Angel_eyez, sorry to hear about the SWF this morning!! Very strong of you to go for it on the third try after having it come up on you twice already, that must have been TOUGH!!

Duckiedee, the aromas of food definitely trigger my cravings! On the one hand, it is quite satisfying to take a big inahlation of something that smells wonderful, but sometimes I just want to lean in and take a BITE! That feeling has gotten stronger the longer I'm on this cleanse. The first 10 days or so, I was content with just sniffing.

Day 18 for me, and speaking of cravings, the birthday party this past weekend was ROUGH! The first thing when we walked in, I was offered one of my fav brands of beer (I'm a girl who loves her beer!). I'm sure people speculated afterwards whether I was pregnant, as I'm not known to turn down a drink. They had a nice spread of hors d'ouvres, then got a bunch of pizzas (it was a little kid's birthday party, but with mostly adults). Then they brought out CUPCAKES and ice cream! For some reason, I have been craving pizza the whole cleanse, so that was hard, and well, cupcakes are just wonderful, lol. I had a bottle of lemonade in my purse and I took a couple of big chugs every time I went to the bathroom, to avoid any questions. I noticed that I am MUCH less social when not drinking and eating (well, especially drinking, it definitely helps to lube the social gears for me).

Now I just have to get through a family dinner at our place tomorrow or Wednesday, and hopefully that will be the end of the social obligations during my cleansing and breaking period! It's so much easier just to avoid everything altogether. That's just not realistic though, I guess. I picked a time during which I couldn't think of ANYthing that was coming up, I waited for Father's Day, birthdays and the 4th of July to pass by before I would even consider starting. But there's always something, isn't there?

Healing wishes to all as you continue your cleansing journey.

Don't mean to be annoying by bumping to this page, but I really need to know by tomorrow.

Hi McNoob - I frequently use agave and choose to use the dark, because I suspected the difference between light and dark was similar to the difference between Grade A and Grade B Maple syrup. When you asked your question, I went searching for "the truth" and this is what I found: "When making the Light Blue Agave nectar, the juice is heated to 161°F* (72°C). However, when making the Raw Blue Agave nectar, the process is lower and much slower: the juice is warmed to a tepid 118°F (37°C), and the low heat is maintained for nearly twice as long. In this simple process, the inulin becomes fructose, a slowly metabolizing simple sugar found in many fruits and vegetables." This is from an agave manufacturer, here is the link:
https://www.wholeandnatural.com/servlet/the-234/Madhava-Organic-Agave-Nectar,/Detail

As you know, Grade B Maple syrup is recommended, but Grade A is allowed if you can't get Grade B anywhere. I am projecting that same recommendation would go to Agave as well, if Burroughs were still alive. (He did allow sorgham and raw cane syrup, but agave was not commercially sold at the time)

Please don't worry about using the right or wrong forum. I have been on this BB since Jan. 2007 and MANY, MANY people ask specific questions about products or details of their fasts. This is the ONLY thread that people come to on a daily basis, and the most certain way to get an answer, as you mentioned. The "correct" procedure is - if you have a question try searching for a specific thread on it. If you can't find the answer anywhere, then put it in here. The moderators go through the board and will move some posts, later, after they have been answered, to a specific thread if they feel that post/ answer will be able to help people in the future. Thank you Angel Eyes for the tips on the detox bath! I really appreciate it! It sounds like you are well experienced in this detox! I am on Day 14 I am determined to get to my pink tongue! I will probably go a day after that to hope everything is really as cleared out as possible. I am ready emotionally to just be done. I think I am just tired of buying lemons, and creating my concoctions! And I miss food. I know it will be there when I am done but I am concerned because I drink about 6-9 of these. Never above 10 and I don't want my body in shock when I start adding solid food calories and converting it all to fat for storage! I have lost 11 lbs, my clothes are falling off and my head feels so clear. I love it!

Should I be drinking 6-12 glasses of the lemonade AND ALSO 1/2 my body weight in water. Or 1/2 my body weight in lemonade AND water? Hope this makes sense.

The lemonade is already mostly water (4 parts water to 1 part lemonade and 1 part MS) and Burroughs and Glickman recommend drinking "as much" spring water "as desired," an unspecified amount. The 1/2 oz. of spring water per lb. of body weight (i.e, if you weigh 160 lbs., drink 80 oz. of water) is a general health tip which is useful under any circumstances, and which I personally find greatly helps my weight loss during the MC, but is NOT a part of the MC. You don't HAVE to drink that much water as part of the MC, it just helps.

I had tried to respond to some of these posts, yesterday, but then everything I had written got erased by accident and I did not have time to type it all again. 2nd try :

Ali.kindall - while the MC is primarily a cleanse, this is not as simple a distinction as "diet vs. cleanse." For many people with digestive problems, like me with leaky gut syndrome, we do not gain weight because we are couch potatoes never working out, but because we are not metabolizing food correctly. The ONLY way to lose weight is to cleanse and heal our digestive tracts. One cannot say, "which do you want: to lose weight or to cleanse your intenstinal tract?" because for us they are one and the same thing.
Greenish yellow eliminations indicate bile, or gall bladder detoxification. It's a good thing, don't worry. I have noticed that the MC tends to detox one area of the body at a time, rather than a small percentage of cleansing on many parts at the same time. Once your gall bladder is clear, you will no doubt move on to weird symptoms in another section of your body.
If you go to the main bulletin board, there is a thread about tongue coatings (also for katherineC). The first post, by Peter Glickman, has a link to a really cool tongue diagnosis site. Yes, you can brush your teeth - lol. There are detox days when my teeth feel constantly coated and I may brush 8 times or more. But I do try to use a smaller amount of toothpaste, so as not to swallow or absorb any.

Missyyssim - we are not really supposed to answer questions like this for each other because it's really a medical question. Even the people on this board who might have MDs have not seen you in person. BUT - as one lay person who has had bladder infections to another - the usual prescription is antibiotics and cranberry juice. The MC does not include these ingredients. I, personally, would clear the infection first, then be sure that I am dedicated to the cleanse when I start it. It sounds as if the infection may have been brought on by starting the MC, which dislodged toxins to be eliminated into your system, then discontinuing the cleanse and not thoroughly removing the already dislodged toxins.

Guineafowl - I just take Acidophilus capsules.

Christene - last night I had a dream about eating a Tahini Corn Chip. Just one - broken up in bits, with detailed close ups of the grains of salt and the Tahini.

love_earth22 - and every/anyone else who is panicked about cheating: It is important to know that detoxing is not just something we do only when on the master cleanse! This is something our body does every day, anyway. However, when we are on the MC, we 1) have tools (lemon juice and cayenne) to help us detox more efficiently, and 2) we have more energy and time to work on detoxification because our bodies do not have to expend that energy digesting. So - if you do an absolutely perfect day of the MC - you may detox to 100% of your full potential to detox in one day. But if you use, say, tap water instead of spring water, you may only detox at 98% because your body had to work on the contaminants in the water. If you use tap water and regular (not organic) lemons, then maybe your body could only do 95% of it full potential detox. [These are estimated numbers only, don't quote me on these]. So, let's say you swallow and digest a fruit fly, but otherwise have a perfect MC day - you might be at 99% of your full potential detox. Is that worth quitting over? Of course not. Even if someone were to - gasp! - eat an oreo or something - they might still be getting a good 85% detox, for that day, with the opportunity for 100% cleansing tomorrow and the day after, etc. SO DON'T QUIT because of a minor set-back. :D

Duckiedee - no, most people seem to find the smell of food is intensified. Maybe the MC is working on clearing out your sinuses, and they have gotten clogged in the process of becoming clear.

--- Today is my day 5. I got a spurt of energy for about 2 hours last night, but otherwise have been very lethargic. Hope today is better. Have had some trouble with the SWF for the first time in all my cleanses - just not flushing. But my period seems to be coming on, so maybe my body decided, in this heat, that it was more important to retain the water? Still had some eliminations thanks to the tea. Was wondering if anyone had ever tried doing 2 SWFs in one day if the first one didn't work? --

question on the very first day does one do the SWF first thing - or start with the lemonade drink and the first thing on day two is the SWF? thx

Actually, on night 0 (i.e., the night before day 1 of the cleanse) you have your laxative tea.

Then the morning of day 1, before any food or drink, you have the SWF. Then you have your lemonade throughout the day. Then on the night of day 1 you have your tea again, and on day 2 your SWF to start off, etc.

If you've already blown that, then just get on the program as fast as possible!

Happy cleansing!

Thank you SierraMagic for your reply. I do understand digestive problems as I have just found out that I am gluten intolerant. Except lately, nothing I have been eating is digesting well. It's painful to eat anything. So I knew something weird was going on and I needed to do something about it. Thank you for asking my questions!!

Today I have alot more energy and my mother has decided to actually do the cleanse the right way! Yay! She also has her finance doing it, so I'll have 2 people around me doing it and that will be nice. They are only going 10 days, but I think I have decided to go longer. I have some serious digestive and thyroid problems that I hope my body will be able to fix. So I will probably be doing more than one cleanse as well. I would really love my body to heal and function like normal!! It would be fabulous to eat wheat every once in a while and not have problems and it would be ever more fabulous if I could stop my thyroid medication and it can just work on it's own!! That's how I found out about the cleanse, I saw an article in a magazine saying how it helped one woman heal her thyroid, so much that she no longer needs medication for it!!

Does anyone else have celiac disease or hypothyroidism that has been improved from this cleanse?? I would love to know!

Happy cleansing everyone!!!:D

You're welcome Veggiegal!!

I have decided to call it quits tonight. I made it 19 days. My tastebuds are so out of wack that the SWF and the smooth move tea both make me vomit *excuse me if that was tmi*...I think I hung in pretty good. I will be back in 3 months. I will continue to cleanse every 3 months. I'm determined to keep this youthful body healthy. Thank you eveyone for your support and encouragement. If I don't see you around the board in Oct. I hope I see everyone on the board in January!!!! Happy cleansing. :D

Hey everyone,
This is my 12th night. I appreciate the replies I got from my freak out post about the fruit fly. I feel much better about it now. It's very ironic that while I am fasting to help myself transform from a vegetarian into a raw vegan that a bug sneeks its way into my system... LOL! Anyway, I'm over it now.

When I woke up early for work this morning, eventhough I only got like 4 hours of sleep I felt amazing! Everything made me smile, and I felt a bit euphoric, like nothing could possibly disturb me. Work was a breeze, very pleasant. Not stressful at all like sometimes. That goes to show that our outlook and attitudes about situations totally effect the whole experience.

Then after work the hubby and I decided to go to the local food co-op we have not had a chance to shop at yet (we just moved here). I went to see if they had organic meyers lemons and limes, and also to plan my meals after the cleanse.

Well that was a BIG mistake. Little did I know they had a health food resturaunt there, with the food on display behind glass. Needless to say I was totally drooling over the glass. Then when we came home hubby decided he wanted a veggie burger. Oh man... This is the first time in the past 12 days that I've even felt the smallest urge to eat something. I hope I get over it tomorrow.

The good news is that I got my meyers lemons and limes so I can have a little bit of a taste change.. The lemons are really starting to taste nasty to me. I think the "variety" will help me go on until I reach my goal (40 days).

healthyintentions: Haha, I am glad that my uncomfortable experience could make someone laugh. Though I assure you, that I was not laughing myself... but looking back on it, two days later, it is rather humerous! That is funny, about your husband's spaghetti morsel. I get so paranoid about doing something wrong during my cleanses and I always make sure I do everything perfectly to ensure success... so it's rather traumatizing when an accident that could potentially ruin my progress happens out of nowhere. Anyway... I'm glad it made you laugh, hehe :D

boneyardpixie: Thank you much for your input. I plan on 40 days, I'm at the end of day 12 now. If I make it that far or not totally depends on what my body is telling me. BTW, I sent you a friendly PM :)

Sierramagic: That is a really positive and logical way of looking at the situation. I did not want to quit, just felt like I might have to start over, or add extra days, like some people do after intentionally cheating. But I see now that it would be pointless to do so. Thank you

Hi All,
I was ending my 2nd day on MC today and gave up. I had SEVERE HEADACHES since yesterday and couldn't function. I was unable to do anything for my family and within a half hr of eating something and taking some pain meds the headache finally subsided. I also noticed that I became nauseous everytime I finished a glass of lemonade. I do have a history of migraines so I started eating raw about a year ago. I am about 60-70% raw which has decreased the frequencies of the migraines. Is there an easier way to ease into this cleanse?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Good Morning.

And welcome to day nine (for me anyways).

Wow yesterday I think was a big detox day. And it don't think my SWF completely flushed out.

Day started out great - I woke up with energy and had a great day until about four. Then it was completely sapped out of me.

And pain... seemed like it was right in my bones and joints muscles and organs - I just ached - I kept telling myself this was a GOOD thing - that I was detoxing, but it still hurt. :p I've had a lot of problems with my knees in the past, so I was glad to see they were being affected.

My ankle scar hurt, and my sides hurt to take my breath away - kind of felt like I had performed too many oblique excercises, which I, uh, haven't. LOL. And my saliva was SO salty by the time I went to bed - even my taste buds were off, I was really tasting the cayenne in the lemonade - which I usually really like AND the Senna tea was just weak and weird tasting and I usually look forward to it - so I don't know.

Anyhow - not complaining - just observing. Funny thing is the coating on my teeth, which I've been getting was not as bad as most days... usually I feel like I have mittens on my teeth no matter how much I brush. I'm assuming it's the sugar from the Maple Syrup or coating brushing off my tongue.

Six more days of SWF! Looking forward to that being over. :D

Other than that I am looking forward to the end now, and guess what I've lost ONE more pound. That's two. For a total of 14 pounds, most from my week of fruits prior - but at least the scale is now cooperating.

I'm now four pounds down from a 'set point' in weight I've fought with in the past - so hopefully the scales will continue to move a bit each day now.

Well, I'm off now to visit my porcelin friend. Move on to get that done and go on with my day!

Good luck all - I am so impressed by how well you are all doing!!!!!

Hello all;

I'm officially on day 1. I drank the tea last night however this morning when I did the swf it came right back up. I am going to wait a bit and try it again. This is the first time that has happened to me being I have done the swf in the past. Any suggestions on how to keep this down? I know I can't do two doses of tea it severely hurts my stomach.

Diary Day Nineteen

Rather a long day with some nasty side effects of coming off the medication I was on such as …dizziness, nausea, balance shot (can’t even put one foot in front of another without toppling off balance), depressed (really blue for no reason) and suffering from a worrisome aching in my back and right shoulder especially my rotor cuff muscle area.

Diary Day Twenty

Half way there and the food really does look so appetizing to me today…….. could have easily reached out and taken some potato crisps and had a greasy hamburger even though I have sworn off ever having crisps again remembering that they are only in my mouth for an instant, then in my tummy for an hour and a lifetime on my hips.

Keep seeing them in my minds eye for what they really are: a dried out thin slice of potato, drenched in fat and covered in salt and knowing that if I put one to my lips and taste it I will be hooked on them once more.

Wondering now if there is a group out there called ‘Crisps Anonymous’…..like AA that I could join……..and see myself standing up and stating “I am a crisp overeater, and I haven’t had one for two months.” Or “I fell off the wagon and polished of a packet of crisps in one sitting last night.”

It was one of those continual “Butt-Pee” days with an enormously huge result in the late afternoon …….. now where did that come from I wondered? But I do know unfortunately (it was the reminder of my SAD diet) and am horrified that I was stilly carrying around that foul smelling toxic waste after 20 days of being on the MC.

Diary Day Twenty One

Raced to the bathroom as soon as I got out of bed………. before I even drank my SWF eliminating more of the same toxic grossness as late yesterday afternoon. After taking the SWF the usual elimination was a yellow fluid again.

Talked to my mother in Australia and couldn’t stop talking ……it was like a cleanse of its own……….getting out a lot of stuff that I had never told her over the years both good and bad happenings……….two and a half hours later we said our loving goodbyes…. and I must say that my heart certainly feels much lighter for doing so.

For the first time during this MC I am starting to feel icy cold in my hands as I type so off to have a nice hot bath/ shower right now.

Cheers to you all and many thanks for your support on days like these.:mad::eek:

I am on my 15th day! I only planned on going to 10 but I am determined to have a pink clear tongue! Will this ever happen for me??? Also, only drinking about 8 drinks on avg which is about 800 calories - so am I going to gain my weight back when I insert 1200 calories into my mouth? Planned on easing back into foods a little quicker but will probably stick close to the book as my friend is quite ill from jumping into foods. Although I am definitely ready to eat!

Today is Day 1 for me. I hate that I am starting this cleanse tired and groggy from a long weekend away with my family. Not well rested like I have been in the past. I have done 2 10-day MC's successfully, and 2 attempts that weren't successful. My last attempt wasn't - I was very faint and light headed a few days in, and I just gave it up. I am now married, and I'm absolutely sure that my husband wont stand for me getting faint again, so hopefully that won't be one of my symptoms.
I am planning on going for 10 days again. I have a container of 3 servings with me at the office, and will have to get more supplies at lunch time today.

Hi, I decided to look up the forum to see if other are on the cleanse. It is my 2nd attempt to do MC. The first time I did not follow directions. I totally missed the SWF. I am now on day 5 of the cleanse and I can't believe that I am actually doing this. I hope to get some feedback or just a buddy to vent or discuss highlights, concerns or just a push when needed. Basically minimal support as other who are around may not understand what a person would even stop eating and just drink liquids. Can someone share their experiences with me? Testimonies.... Thanks,

Hey everyone!

I'm starting the MC in a couple of days for the first time and, of course, I'm super excited but also a little nervous. I've been lurking around the boards for a couple of weeks now, and for the most part, everyone's posts have been giving me the courage I need.

I do have a question though, and I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, so I apologize in advance: Can anyone recommend a good probiotic? I think I remember someone here saying something about Jarrow's, but I'm not sure. Any help?

Today is day 2 it is going pretty good although i did feel quit weak when i woke up, i did make it to my fitness class but it was a struggle but the 1lb that i have lost already makes it worth it. It must be very hard to do the mc and stop smoking at the same time but you can do it just get through one day at a time good luck and keep in touch you can do it! p.s what day are you on and have you lost any weight?

I'm feeling a little frustrated today. I plan to go until day 15 - but I'm starting to get pretty hungry in the way that my stomach is really growling etc. This is the first day it's done so - until now I've been pretty peaceful in that arena.

I am seriously craving food - and disappointingly it's crap like ribs that I'm craving. I feel like I could seriously fall of the good eating wagon the way I feel today.

Anyone able to cheer me on?

Not really hungry, just craving. Realized today that I eat more out of habit than hunger. Thoughts to make it easier?

Duckiedee,
When our bodies are in the process of detoxing from a certain food, they crave that food. You steak craving will probably go away in a couple days and rest assured that your body is getting rid of the toxins the previous steak habit gave you.

Day 24 and going.
I still don't have a desire to stop next week. This fast has been easier then in the past. My breakouts are still coming, but they aren't as bad as a week ago. I haven't felt any of my past injuries, but I hope my body is repairing them. I guess this is just more motivation to stay on th cleanse longer. I don't really feel like posting everyday or every other, as I just find I'm being redundant.
After all, nothing is really going on. My eliminations have stopped smelling really bad. I've had enough energy to do light physical workouts through out the day. I did feel my kidneys the other day, which had a sensation that I can't quite place. I ended up gaining 3 lbs on Monday, which is water weight...but I don't understand how this happens. I've gone down in the weight loss from 14 lbs to 12.5, but I'm sure it'll go away. Yesterday the swf didn't want to go down, but today it was easier. Each day is a new entity to be viewed solo, until the day is over.
Oh weird but true: my lymph nodes have been really itchy for the last two days...the ones in my arm pits. Anyone else? Scratching them gives me a sense of euphoria...no kidding lol.
My sleeping is sporadic. Some days I sleep a lot and others barely a few hours...not by choice.

I did become obsessed with cookbooks (although I have quite a few already)....I ended up buying almost twenty within the last week or so. Hahaha. I did research them =)
Oh, I've always used Whole Food's MS, but I bought Trader Joe's today.... definite taste different. WF is sweeter. I did notice that TJ's puts the calcium on their nutritional label...does anyone know the calcium level in WF's?

Angeleyes: Congrats on your accomplishment. I hope that you have a successful post MC.

loveearth: Thanks for telling me...I forgot I even had a msg thingy on here. I've found that when the lemons start to taste nasty for me that the lemons are actually at the start of rotting....so I try new ones...although meyer lemons sound awesome! I hope the want to eat has gone down.

hiski: I'm sorry that you had such a rough day two. You're body was detoxing fast. I would suggest that if you try this again, maybe do it on a calm day or two in your life and only eat raw foods a few days going into it.

Ducki: I'm so glad that you too are having mittens on your teeth. No matter how much I brush, it's there a few hours later....I've found that it mostly happens to the back of my front teeth....and it smells bad after I brush again. Congrats on your weight loss and I hope your knee problems will be better after the cleanse.

purple: drink a glass of water with your tea, as it'll ease the cramping. Also don't let the tea steep for more than four or five minutes.

Christene: I love this quote "I have sworn off ever having crisps again remembering that they are only in my mouth for an instant, then in my tummy for an hour and a lifetime on my hips." I need to apply that to a few guilty pleasures in my life! Right around the same day as you, I also had really bad smelling eliminations....deep deep cleansing.

Veggiegal: Congrats on pushing your mind a little bit further to help your body!

iron: Good luck and anytime you feel like you are going to faint have a quite big gulp of the lemonade or add a bit more MS into your drink.

chlels: Good job on getting yourself motivated. Each day gets easier (or a brief stubborn spot for the detox days)

Glenna: I too take comfort in just having a bunch of food right in front of me. I've found that my sense of smell greatly increases, after about day 6. At this point, I smell as much food as possible. I love to smell and I have an awesome nose. I'm trying to get myself to realize that the sense of smell is the most important part of enjoying your food and that I don't need consume a large amount to be satisfied. All I have to do is slow down and savor the basic components.

I've made it to magic day 10! So proud. :) I still plan on going until 15 - but if something happens where I stop before that I will always be happy I made it the 10 days.

Ladies who have gone over 18+ day - wow! That is so impressive! I can't imagine being able to go that long.

I'm starting to get questions from people. So concerned about the safety of it. I don't think they realize how much study has been done on detoxing. I have to admit I had no idea until recently until I started reading about it.

I've just been telling them that in fact it's safer than NOT detoxing. :)

Does anyone find their hunger/cravings are better in the morning? I always wake up ready for another day. No cravings and feeling in control - it is not until suppertime I start to get the growlies.

I remedied some of my hunger yesterday with more lemonade and that really helped. It is amazing, just amazing to me how much the lemonade dissolves hunger!

Five more days after today for me! I am pleased I am 2/3 the way there! From here I'm going on to doing the Grape Cure for an additional 14 days. Has anyone here tried it?

Then I'll transition from there. Like someone else here, I am planning to be pretty much fruits and veggies for two meals and then a cooked dinner with my family.

Being in a more northern climate I can't really see going completely raw - the selection here year-round is just not good enough. I do plan on making my meals mostly meatless though - with lots of cooked wholegrains/legumes.

Thanks so far for everyone's encouragement and your stories - it is really inspiring and helpful!

:)

Also bought 'Living Cuisine" by Renee Loux Underkoffler and "Raw Food Life Force Energy" by Natalia Rose. Reading cookbooks and looking at food is making me 'drool ' at the moment and thats not a pretty sight I can assure you.

Day 5 of my first cleanse and it is starting to get easier. My friends always insist that I come out with them on our lunch break, but it just makes them feel guilty. I look EVERYWHERE but at their food and told them that I'm happy about this, but it is still a pain in the butt when people look at you and go "Why aren't you eating?? Are you okay??"
*sigh*
But, on the bright sun-shiny side, my knee problems are almost completely gone (horrible joint problems from martial arts) and I am finding it easier to walk long distances.
My primary goal was not weight loss, but I've gone from 144 to 137 so far. Happy bonus :)
I'm going for another 5 days, then starting my new veggie life.

Diary Day Twenty Two

This was where I stopped my first MC due to social commitments…….a wedding out here on the farm. Tempted to end a little earlier this time to go to a Mediaeval Faire for a feast (can’t believe I am saying that………..). My health comes first the fair will be there each year so I can go next time………would have loved to meet up with my author friend for the first time who started me out on my writing career though………..sigh!!!

I went to the bathroom as soon as I awoke this morning and before I took my SWF.
My tongue is starting to look a little better today?

Craving sweets so had some maple syrup to ease it………drinking lots of water as I am always thirsty.

Taking the last of my second meds today so hoping coming off these will be easier than those I came off last week. Feeling really low and blue the past few days (well actually to tell the truth more like a crabby old witch……….grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Arg. I woke up with a huge pain in my lower back. I immediately went to the bathroom and the pain switched to cramping. This is the second time this cleanse I got cramps. I need to drink a glass of water with my tea now. The cramping continued for about ten minutes, but I the tea worked before the Swf. I hope everyone else had a better start to their day.

Christene: Congrats on how far you made it! It's amazing no matter when you start the MC there will always be something that comes up that you want to do. I hope you have fun at th wedding! Thank you for those cookbook recommendations. I've never really ventured into the raw category. I've just cooked vegan for so long. I think raw is definitely the next step.

Hi Doublestar! I found a probiotic at Vitamin World (have also seen at GNC) called PB8 - it has 8 strains of probiotic in it. I couldn't find the one you and several others mentioned. I found Pearl which I saw mentioned but when I compared the 2 there was far less bacteria in the Pearl. I also found the vegetarian capsules in it. They offer both types of capsules... I haven't had a chance to try it (although a friend is taking it) b/c I am on Day 16 but I heard it was excellent and compared to several others for cost/ingredients, etc it seems much better.

Today is my day 7, which means I am officially halfway through my intended 12 days. I am really feeling like just going to get a bagel (with avacado and tomato) . I just woke up so hungry and thirsty this morning. Now am feeling depressed. I don't even think I can do the SWF this a.m. because my stomach is growling so much, I think the SWF will give me serious cramps. Reading the BB has helped. Some of this may be PMS. Also, at my belly dancing class last night we had a live drummer, so we were dancing and sweating up a storm. And as it happens, I had just done a 45 min. cardio workout just before class, so I was really worn out last night and this may be the aftermath.

I have been interested in using Meyers lemons, but hesitated because aren't they a hybrid of lemons and oranges? I will search on this forum for threads on Meyers lemons to see if there is any official word on them. I tried one once, at the end of a different cleanse, and it was noticably sweeter.

I have lost 7 lbs., which is also a very slow weight loss for me, on the cleanse, but better than nothing.

Why am I doing this again? Oh, yeah, because professional success means nothing if you don't have your health and kick off early due to your own bad eating habits.

Just to share with you a couple of things that has helped me through this fast>>> #1. After drinking the SWF and having a couple of eliminations...drink a couple of bottles of water (16oz). If you are not done eliminating the water will be the telltale sign. If after drinking the water you do not eliminate for anywhere from a half an hour to an hour...you are done with the SWF...drinking the water appears to move things along FASTER so that way you wont have any surprises thinking that you are finished with the eliminations...

I DO have a question however...since yesterday (day 7)...the laxative tea doesnt seem to work...i still have the rumble in my tummy like I am about to eliminate but...nothing! Has that happened to anyone else? I steep my tea anywhere from 12-15 minutes and let me tell you...I HATE THAT TEA...lol...which leads me to the second finding...if you hate the taste of that tea as much as i do...add a little more water to drown out the taste...NOT TOO MUCH though...I know what you may be thinking...that may be the reason that I am not eliminating with the tea but I have been doing that the entire fast and it had worked up until day 7. Weird.

Anyway I think I have had cravings the entire fast...not ferocious like the first 4 days but cravings none the less....and my stomach seems to be having hunger pains but after drinking the lemonaide I am fine...

How is everyone else :p...this website helped me so much last year and I wanted to say something since day 1 of this fast but my computer was on the fritz and i was only allowed to read the testimonies...

Anyway if anything else this site is good for a chat with people who are actually going through what I am...lol...:)

PS for anyone who is feeling a little discouraged...perseverance is key but sometimes you need help use this website to the fullest to get you through! :D

Well, I'm on Day 20 here, my final day! :D Could I go longer? Sure, but I'm ready to be done. Honestly, I don't know if I will ever go longer than 20 days. I feel really weak on the cleanse, especially the longer I stay on it. And I am noticeably more withdrawn - I'm already introverted, and the cleanse makes it much more pronounced.
And like my first 20 day cleanse, I have been TOTALLY obsessed with food lately (right there with ya, Boneyardpixie!). I spent a whole day on my favorite recipe website (allrecipes.com) and convinced myself that I should buy a slow cooker! Although, I really do want to be mostly raw from here on out. I know that keeping ANY cooked food in the diet makes it harder to stay raw, but I am really just not ready to do it 100% right now. So I've also been perusing tons of Raw Food websites, reading the forums and drooling over all the recipes. I've never really used YouTube for anything before, but they have tons of demonstrations of raw and vegan recipes.
I'll still be checking in here for a bit I think, as I've still got 4-5 days of transitioning before I actually plan to chew anything.

I know how you feel about the Medieval Faire, Christene! I've been going to our local Renaissance Fest for the last 15 years. The sign above the entrance says "Eat, Drink, and Be Merry!" and that is always what I do (with complete abandon!) when I go. This year I waited until after the Ren Fest to start my cleanse! It is so hard to avoid social obligations, outings, and events. Something always seems to come up.

So, benefits gained in the last 20 days.. ? Well, I used to sneeze all throughout the day at work (sometimes some at home too). I think we may have some mold in our office building. Now I MIGHT sneeze once during the day. I don't seem to need as much sleep as before, I get up earlier even on weekends, and I don't really feel tired throughout the day (even though physically I don't have much energy). Ten pounds lost, lots of mucus expelled - my body is ready to absorb all of the nutrients from the raw food that I'm going to be putting into it. A clean slate! :D

Happy cleansing all!

Hi Everyone!

This is my first Master Cleanse, and tonight is the night BEFORE I start. If anyone out there is reading this and feels like giving me some extra encouragement, by all means, feel free to do so :) :) :)

Love and well wishes,

I'm on day ONE of the cleanse!

I've noticed that the last several times that I've attempted to do another cleanse, emotions got in the way and I'd quit if I felt sad/upset, etc. But today I had a very emotionally trying day and got through it no problem!!

I've had no hunger, no REAL temptations (I've passed lots of food without ever feeling tempted). I've had a few cravings to items that I've eaten recently, and since I recognized them I let it go and had some lemonade!!

It's weird because my mind is extremely fuzzy. I almost feel high. I'm at work right now and I feel very confused doing things that are essentially easy; and I'm slow moving. But that's good, at least, that I know for sure I'm detoxing and later in the week I'll feel clear-minded!!

Encouragement to the person ahead of me that just took the tea:take it one day at a time; don't try to see it as "UGH I have 9 more days to go" but positively look at it as the first day that you will accomplish!! And of course any time you're hungry or craving, drink the lemonade! ta daaa!!

Day 6 and I am feeling like a million bucks!! I bought a bike today and I'm STOKED!

Maybe funny, maybe tmi but.. today I was trying on some clothes in a fitting room and my SWF urge hit (like 3 hours later!!) anyway, I just had to bolt. I had clothes on from the store still and I just ran. I made it. YESSS but it was pretty embarrassing telling the woman a lie about why I had to leave so suddenly wearing clothes I didn't own. I told her I thought I was going to throw-up. haha

Well! I feel amazing and I think it's funny how I have already forgotten what it's like to eat. I did have a long sniff of the banana bread in the kitchen today though. Even though I can't imagine actually eating something, I can't stop thinking about mexican food. I drove by my favorite restaurant today and no kidding, my heart actually jumped! I got really nervous for some reason.

Also, I have been having some serious problems not being able to sleep. Is that a detox sign or what is going on? The night before last, I slept for maybe an hour or 2 and was up before my alarm at 5AM. Whyyyy?! Usually I can sleep for 8+ hours, EASY. Anyone else with this issue?

OH! I am down to 132.2 lbs. and down a dress size!! I started at 140 lbs. I tried on clothes today and found out that I had to wear 28's instead of my usual 29-30!! I'm so excited about that! I thought for sure I was just losing water weight or just weight of food that was in my body, but I have actually lost inches! I've just been living in sweats for the past 6 days cause I've been freezing so I didn't notice. Anyway, I could not be happier!!

30 days is the plan for me, but I'm kind of leaving it open-ended. I don't want to tell anyone 30 just in case something weird happens, but the way I feel today gives me the confidence I need to just keep taking it one day at a time to reach my goal!

Happy cleansing everyone!!

Hi,
My name is Susan and I'm on my fourth day of the cleanse. Things have been tough, but I'm tougher. I was 240.04 when I started and the first day I was 235.6, the second I was 233.6 and today I am 232.2!... I'm thrilled with my weight loss. I'm almost back down to the weight I was last year before the bp and cholestral meds got me so worn down. I"ve been vitamin-in up the past few months and that helped me lost a few gained pounds. ( about 15)

The first day was particularly hard because I just kept thinking I would just have to eat... Grrrrr.. But I perservered and kept on keepin on. Things are getting easier. And when it really gets bad I pay attention to my body and realize I'm clenching my tummy and resisting the flow of life. So, I use the protocol EFT - Turbo Tapping ( Emotional Freedom Technique) To quell my phantom hunger urges. It is awesome and works immediatly. Cause I'm surely not hungry when I drink all my drinks. It's just old habits of eating when I'm bored, emotional, scared, angry etc.. getting to me. I can feel the clarity daily though and the urge falling away.. Yaahh!

I"m interested in eating more healthy. Not raw by any means. But lots of fresh veggies and cooked recipies.
iv'e found two sites that are helpful. One is fibergourmet and the other is miracle noodle.. Both are great foods. Both have 18 gr of fiber. The gourmet is pasta 120 cals per serv. and the other is a noodle with no calories. I figured I could put the noodles in my transition soups to give them more fiber and help move things along. I'd been eating much higher fiber before I started my cleanse but i'm having a bit of trouble eliminating now.. Ugh...

Anyway, Two years ago I completed a 21 day and this time I'm hoping for 30 days ( keeps fingers crossed) . I'd heard you use your age and add 17 to get your days needed to properly cleanse. Thats 57 days.. Wowie..lol....
I guess I'll go by my tongue after 30.
Last time I just really wanted to crunch something. Really craved veggies which is funny. I really didn't want the "junk". I woulda given my left boob for some veggies... I feel like I'm in a better place mentally, and using that tapping really helps along with thinking about how great I'm going to feel and look afterwards. I wanna glow!

Lastly, Hey, I'm not sleeping well either. And I musta peed 10 times last night no kidding! I drank my last drink of water at around 730 and went to bed at 830.. Sheesh.. Restless too. I think its just our bodies not needing so much sleep because it's not so exhausted from digesting all the time..

I'll update you guys tomorrow and then off for the weekend so hopeuflly on Monday.
Wed my son and I are going to the beach and that seems to be the biggest hurdle I can think of really. But I'll be 11 days in by then so I know I will be strong!

Blessings,
Don't be afraid, Love yourself, Love the world

I'm on day one of ending the cleanse. I went fourteen days and really feel I should have gone longer. I still eliminated waste today (day 15) and feel as though I had more to go. It just seemed as though I was not really progressing since day seven and I was only continuing in hopes of a big turn around. I lost 12 pounds (190lbs. - 178lbs.) in the first 8 days and havn't lost any more since. Today I did the salt water flush and just drank a glass of ruby red grapefruit juice. I feel fine but I'm still wondering if it was the right thing to stop. My goal was only fourteen days to start with but now it's so easy I feel I could have gone another week easy. If I had my cleanse stuff with me today I would have continued even though I'm taking my Three year old son to lunch tomorrow and would like to have a salad with him. do I stay or do I go? Do you ever stop seeing bits of mucus or is it lemon pulp?

so...yesterday morning when I was feeling so discouraged and hungry, I didn't do the SWF (because I was sure it would give me cramps) but went straight downstairs to make a lemonade. I couldn't find the pitcher I use to mix it in - then remembered I had put it in the freezer the night before. I looked and there it was - with about 1 & 1/2 glasses full of lemonade in it. I had wanted to slush it up before drinking it, but now, of course, it was frozen solid ! So, NO WONDER, I was feeling down - I had only had 4 & 1/2 glasses of lemonade the day before AND I had done a lot of physical exercise.

But I did thaw out the lemonade and chewing soft lemonade "crushed ice" was WONDERFUL. I'm thinking, it would be terrific to freeze some in an ice cube tray and then take the ice cubes to the beach one day.

I am now on day 8 and have lost 8 lbs. (in 7 days). Am feeling much better now and doing my SWF as I type. :p

Keep on squeezin' !'

[QUOTE=Christene;71968]Diary Day Twenty Two

Hi Christene,
Sorry you are not feeling too bright, I hope you will soon. A question here, I came off the MC on Sunday, had a tiny BM Monday but nothing since. I have been doing OJs and water in the morning, a salad and fruits, no carbs. I still haven't had any BM. Today I am having a green smoothie for lunch and I drank some lemonade mixed with blackstrap molasses & cayenne pepper this morning. Planning to have a salad for dinner. Am I missing something?

I was like that on my first one then on the third or fourth day I was so proud of my first "normal" BM that I wanted to frame it.:D

The OJ is far too sweet for me so I use the squeezed pink/red grapefruit juice to end my MC.

Depends if your mind and body are saying continue or not....you have to listen to what they are telling you. I even sit in McDonnalds sipping peppermint tea when all around me are scarfing down their greasy burgers.

I always say when in doubt dont..........and good luck to you

Diary Day Twenty Three

My back is killing me at the moment especially between the shoulder blades so not sure what the MC is working on there…….????? So madly massaging my back and putting on hot packs and hot baths over here. My rotor cuff muscle is hurting so badly as well (almost like it did for the months after I tore it)

Drinking much more water now when I realized that the recommended ounces to drink was .5 ounce to every pound you weigh………..sheeeeeeeeeees more visits to the “Loo”

Decided to cheer myself up today by dragging out my suitcase of

“Yes these clothes will fit me one day”

and try some on. It was a great joy an added bonus cause over half the suitcase fits me.

Ordered myself a power juicer for when I finish this MC so I am getting geared up for healthy juicing in the future;)

I am currently doing my first Master Cleanse. I am on Day 14 today. I have followed the plan exactly and have lost 11 lbs, look amazingly refreshed and feel good. It helped so much to have the book tell me what to expect. I have kept a journal to record how I feel throughout the day. Day 3 was tough with body aches, headache and tired. The next toughest day was Day 13. I was feeling like it would be the final day for me, but woke up this morning and just kept going. I have always struggled with constipation so doing the MC and switching my diet I am hopeful for change in my life.

There are the critics out there, as it is hard to keep it to yourself when going through this, everyone wants to know why you aren't eating. They tell me I'm starving myself, that you shouldn't detox for more than 3 days and on and on. I just smile and tell them that I feel fine and I'm following a program. My husband is being very supportive and just asks when I plan to eat again. It helped that the first 8 days he was gone on a fishing trip so I didn't have to be exposed to cooking or someone else in the house eating.

Good luck to everyone currently doing the cleanse.

I actually am finished with my ten day cleanse. On my 13th day and just started eating again. I am really greatful to have read peter's book. It helped me a lot. The hardest part about the cleanse was dinnertime. I have a family, so i still needed to prepare meals. It's not that i was hungry, it was the smells that got to me. So I would go to my room right after dinner was prepared so that i would not be tempted. I am so happy to have accomplished going through with this. During the cleanse i had sooo much energy. More than i have had in 13 years since my first child was born. I recommend it to anyone who wants to be healthy. I'm switching to raw foods, and a little bit of fish. The way i feel now, i don't want to mess it up. Woohooo! I did it. Thank you Peter for your book. Thank you!

Everyone was right, day 7 is pretty rough. I had a really hard time sleeping last night again and I had to wake up early so I was tired all day. I took a mini nap and felt a little better.

The smell of food was torture today! But, I got through.

Foggy-head Ali is gone and I was thinking very clear in my classes today. I had alot of good ideas and did really well in math. Maybe my memory is improving?! haha Probably due to not having caffeine surging through my system everyday.

I started to have a major headache around 9pm tonight and I tried to drink alot of water but it didn't really help. Also, I had a weird reaction to lotion on my legs today? Like a little rash. I guess I wont be using that anymore.

Oh and I had a weird pain in my gland in my armpit for about 2 hours. Then the pain was in my shins for a couple hours, then to my left knee (which I've had a TON of problems with in the past). So I think that's good? Whenever I get sick or my immune system is down due to stress or lack of sleep, my left knee starts acting up. So I think it is a good sign of detox.

I bought a bike today and I rode it just around the neighborhood and just that little bit of exercise made me weak. It also made me realize that I need more physical activity if I want to get through this without ruining my metabolism!!

I hope everyone is doing well! Happy cleansing!!

Hi everyone,
posting again, so glad I can come here and check on everyones progress and know I'm not alone in my "endevour"... Yesterday was a little tough but today I am 9.30 lbs lighter so it's all worth it. Mon-Fri

Went to Whole Foods last night to more fully committ to my plan to do long term cleansing. Bought three more bottles of organic lemon juice ( only kind I've found that is good) and 30 oz of the maple syrup and since I don't like the not so good, crampy effects of the Smoothe Move, I got the Yogi "get regular" tea to try since it was recommneded as effective by someone on the boards. I'll try that this morning when I can fit it in anyway.
I'm very regimented about my timing for the drinks. I use 15-16 oz bottle for the extra water at work. Timing is everything if you want to get the drinks down.
drink, drink, water, all bran fiber drink ( lemonade), drink, water.. home...By the time I get home, my gallon jug is almost empty. I put 3/4 cup maple syrup and a whole cup of lemonade in each gallon and a ton of the hot stuff. Drinking it spicy seems to give me the feeling I"ve got something in the tum tum and thats alright with me. :}

Walked twice yesterday for a mile and got sunburned for my troubles cause I'm sun sensitive from my bp meds. Boy I hope I can go off some of these meds once my weight normalizes. :}

I did my first SWF last night with my Celtic Sea Salt ( wh ich I got last night) and boy was that tough to get down. I tried using less water, about 6 oz and then drinking the water plain after. I forgot from the last cleanse though and definately used too much water. I thought with the last gulp I'd surely barf but somehow kept it down. Elimination was much better I must admit. But I could tell then I wasn't peeing so much and feel twice a week with the swf is fine. Saturday when I try again I'm going to use Waaaaay less water and then chug my regular afterwards so I can get it down.

So, today is a new day and the sun is shining. I'm just going to grab my second drink of the morning.
Just a rambling here and hopefully you guys are doing well today. Stay strong my friends and remember the food will always be there.

Blessings and peace,
Susan

Hi Susan. Congrats on doing well on your cleanse so far. There were just a couple of things in your post that caught my attention. You should be using fresh squeezed lemon (or lime) juice ONLY, none of the bottled stuff, even if it is organic. The bottled stuff has preservatives to keep it "fresh", which is one of the things that you want to detox OUT of your body while on the cleanse. It also will not have the same cleansing power as fresh squeezed.

And you should be doing the SWF first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. You don't want to flush out all of the cleansing lemonade that you put into your body throughout the day - you want to let it hang out and do its work overnight. The purpose of the SWF is to "flush" out all of the junk that the cleansing agents in the lemonade have kicked up.

If you are dedicating the time to do the MC (and hey, it ain't easy!), then I want you to get the most out of it that you can, so that you can truly get the best results possible! :D

Best of luck on your healing journey!

I was on day three a couple of weeks ago. I really want to be able to do this, but the salt water flush was very hard for me to take. I have a lap band and it is hard to get the water down fast and I get full very fast. So, it takes me a lot longer to get the 32 oz. down. Is it possible to add lemon or maybe a little maple syrup in with the water flush. I prefer the results the salt water flush gives you in the morning than the tea. I want to be able to start this again, this weekend and at least get through ten days with a hope of going on to 20 days.

Hey Thanks for responding Nymue,

I just did the swf in the evening to check on its effective ness. Hey, I feel great I didn't barf and I got most of it down!.
Saturday is a new day and I"m going to do it first thing as I'm supposed to. I can only commit the weekend to swf cause I get up at 5 am so I can't get up much earlier, or it will be night time! lol

As far as Organic and fresh lemons, I've decided that it is ok for me. I'm ok with the fact that it is not quite as effective as fresh squeezed. I still got a ton of benefit from my last cleanse (21 days) using them and going for a long period would be grueling trying to fit in lemon squeezing to the pacage.

Things continue to progress nicely, getting all my drinks in and the sun is shining outside. One more drink this morning, then water and two more to drink after lunch. I really feel it's important to get all those drinks in and use close amounts to what is assigned. I see people saying they put 1 or 2 tbspns of water in a quart and I'm thinking they should really use more syrup. Hey to each his own though. I'd go a bit crazy if I used any less calories. :}

thanks alot, Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your cleanse!

Much love always,
Susan

Hey everyone!

Well, today is my first day of my first cleanse and so far so good. I'll have to admit that the lemonade mixture is a little hard to get down but I'm slowly making progess. I did forget to drink the tea and do the salt water flush this morning, but that just gives me something to look forward to tomorrow, right?;)

Anyway, I'm heading out of town for the weekend to someplace nice and quiet. Right now the county fair is going on, which is only one of the biggest events in our area, and I can hear the beer and fair food calling my name (funnel cakes!!!!). So instead of trying to stay and fight the temptation, I'm kicking up my heels and running in the other direction. I'm high tailin' outta town!

Have a great day, and hopefully I will check in tonight!

Ciao.:)

P.S. Thanks for all of the great posts. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be back here at least 20 times a day just to keep myself motivated and on track, especially on the icky days.

Day 12 here...

Slept 10 hours last night! Wow! Deeply too but could have probably used another 2 or 3! I was a little foggy/groggy at work this morning - but perked up nicely by around 10:30 - felt pretty great the rest of the day so far.

Had a nice massage yesterday - hmmm, maybe that's why I was so tired?

I missed the tea last night because I was... sleeping. LOL. But the SWF did a great job this morning.

I've now lost about 4 pounds from the MC and 16 in total from the pre-cleanse the week before.

My pants are falling of me. Woo hoo!

I really need to take another detox bath tonight - was supposed to do one after my massage but I was... sleeping! LOL.

Three more days! I am so excited to be almost done.

Cheers!

Diary Day Twenty Four

My tongue is improving as I no longer have to bring in a snow shovel to clean it……the coating is rather fine but still whitish.

And today I noticed my eyes for the first time on this MC………………

they are so bright and clear all for the first time in ages…………now my whites have no red veins showing and the white is a brilliant dazzling white. I can see the clear color of my pale green eyes as well………..usually they seem to be covered with a yellowish grey dull film so that you cant distinguish what color they are?:D

Day 7!
Starting to get monotonous (does anyone else have that problem?) But I have been sleeping very well and waking very refreshed. 8 pounds lighter, walking every day and feeling healthier than I have in years. Day 10, here I come!

Question: Has anyone ever broken the fast with miso? Not the first day, but after a few days of the orange juice and vegetable soup? I figured I'd do miso with lemonade and then upgrade to miso with tofu before eating solid food.

End of day 26...I've been reading everyone's posts. I'm sorry that I haven't responded.

I"m super depressed today. Maybe it has a little to do with the cleanse, but more to do with my life. I should have made these changes, during the last cleanse and avoided prolonging it some more.
I must go finish my double.

Hang in there everyone =)

I was on day three a couple of weeks ago. I really want to be able to do this, but the salt water flush was very hard for me to take. I have a lap band and it is hard to get the water down fast and I get full very fast. So, it takes me a lot longer to get the 32 oz. down. Sorry, but no. You absolutely should not have anything but the salt water in the SWF. Anything else will change the specific gravity and you really don't want to mess with that. The salt could become available in ways that could be disastrous, whereas when it's done the way it's supposed to, it passes right through you.

I hear you on liking the results better than the tea, but if you can't do the SWF with just salt and water, you'll have to switch.

Hello! I am new to this forum and also to the idea of fasting/cleansing. I am on day 1 of my first ever MC! I did the tea last night and the SWF this morning (I liked the taste of the tea but the SW was really hard to get down - but I did - all 32oz's!!) and I am on my 5th lemonade (I was so relieved that after that first taste I liked it!).

I am 31, married, mom of 2 - excited to detox and start off fresh. My goal is 10 days cleansing, and lifelong of healthier eating and exercising.

I've recently had to shop in the plus sizes and none of my clothes in my closet fit anymore. I went from a size 8 to a size 14 in less than 5 years. My energy, health, sex-life, self-esteem, and overall happiness have all been negatively affected and I am ready to take charge of the change I want.

I do have to say that it would be easier if I lived alone for 10 days! My boys still have to eat! Hubby will help out this weekend during what is supposed to be the hardest two days. I have permission to just hide in the bedroom for 48 hours if needed :)

After this cleanse, I know I will feel a self-pride and an empowerment like never before. Good luck to everyone else - especially the newbies like me! I really appreciate this site - so thank you moderators/admin - it has been and will be very helpful! Oh, BTW, I printed off the one page with all the inspirational tidbits (the kick in your butt page) and have them hanging all over my house!!

Yay Christene!! I laughed when I read about your tongue. I like reading your progress, gives me something to look forward to.

So today was FABULOUS!! I finally slept really well last night and woke up early and refreshed. I went to the pool and accidently got a sunburn. Ouch. But it was a fun time anyway. Caught up on some reading.

I rode my bike almost 5 miles today and it was really hard. I have no stamina whatsoever. I hardly did before I gave up solid food haha. Oh well though, I am glad I did it. Hopefully I will be able to ride my bike around at least a little bit everyday. I gave myself an extra cup of lemonade because of the extra calories burned.

I am now going to go relax in a bath and read some more! Yay!

I hope everyone is doing well (sorry to boneyardpixie who sounds down today:()

Talk to you all tomorrow!

Couple questions I'm hoping someone can answer for me:

1.) Is it okay to drink water -after- you drink the laxative tea at night?

2.) Beauty products: Cologne, hair spray, lotions, etc? Yes, no, maybe?

Hi. I'm a newbie to this forum, and this is my 3rd try at the Master Cleanse. I once did about 7 days and another time only made it to day 3. I was just too tired, had too many cravings, and had trouble with the timing of what the Salt Water Flush did (needing to be near a bathroom for a couple of hours).

I'm currently on Day 9 and am doing great. I was thinking about going off on day 10 onto the raw food diet, but I'm doing so well that I'm now thinking about staying with the MC, if I can make it until my tongue clears up and my body has cleared out what it needs to. I haven't lost near as much weight as I want/need. Nor have I experienced the clarity of mind or spiritual benefits I've read about yet, and which I was really looking forward to. Plus there are some physical problems that haven't completely cleared up (I have lichen sclerosis, a skin disease...it's better, but still here).

I did have a what the doctor called a skin tag, that I found 4 months ago and which has been the same since I found it, shrink to where I couldn't feel it by day 5, which I found astounding...I had to have the magnifying mirror to find it. I know it could be coincidence, but it hadn't changed in 4 months and then...bam, almost gone...but 5 days is almost unbelievable.

I think I'm having an easier time this time because I ate raw with a quart of green shake (green leafy veggies with some fruit blended in the vitamix) every day for 3 days before starting the MC. This time I have had hardly any cravings, hardly any hunger that doesn't go away with water or my next lemonade (and I'm only drinking 6 a day of the lemonade instead of the 12 that I had previously needed and was still hungry). I've only had a few "tired" days where I took it slow. I've even been exercising and feeling good. I think I was better prepared mentally for this one as well.

My problem is still the salt water flush. Getting it down isn't the problem (I can just gulp the whole thing down in a couple of minutes), but I haven't been able to get up early enough in the morning most days to have it go thru me before leaving for work. (It takes 2 full hours most days, and then sometimes more) What I've been doing most days is drinking it when I go home for lunch, letting it run it's course (I have a long lunch break) and then having my 1st lemonade of the day. DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT THE EFFECT OF DELAYING THE SWF UNTIL NOON OR SO WOULD HAVE IF I'M NOT DRINKING ANYTHING BUT WATER PRIOR TO THAT? I do always wake up feeling tired any "yucky," and I'm sure if I did the SWF earlier, I would feel better earlier in the day.

ANY SUGGESTIONS from anyone about continuing. Does it get easier, harder, etc? I know my body has LOTS more of cleansing to do. I'm still a good 50 lbs overweight. I've only lost about 10 pounds, but only about 5 or so on the MC...however, I am working out, and I have lost about 2.5 inches from my waist.

The only symptom that I'm having, which I've only noticed since yesterday is that I'm experiencing some mild sensitivity in one area of my teeth...an area where I've previously had repeated infections...between 2 fillings. They aren't sensitive anywhere else. I noticed that sensitive teeth might be a sign that your body doesn't have enough reserves to continue on. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INPUT HERE, since it's not all of my teeth. (I had the "infection taste" between those teeth start up for a few of the early days on the MC, but then that cleared up.)

Anyway, nice to meet everybody. Looking forward to continued ease of the MC and hopefully seeing more results. Trying to mentally prepare myself for continuing on instead of starting to eat in a couple of days. Would appreciate any comments and responses to my questions.

Question: Has anyone ever broken the fast with miso? Not the first day, but after a few days of the orange juice and vegetable soup? I figured I'd do miso with lemonade and then upgrade to miso with tofu before eating solid food.

Hi~
To get a break from the standard vegie soup, last time I tried a Chinese vegie soup. I was a little worried that it might have too many different spices for my stomach after the cleanse but didn't have a problem. The miso soup might be more difficult because it is made with soy, which is a bean. Many detoxification cleanses have you stay away from all beans during their detox because they are harder to digest. For my Chinese vegie soup, you do add a few dashes of Tamari (light soy sauce), and I didn't notice an effect from that. The miso soup is all soy, though, so might be harder. Because of that I would stay away from it the first day, as you suggested. But since it IS a natural vegetarian food, it should be fine after a few days of eating again, as long as it doesn't have preservatives in it. LOL - you may find you want to put some cayenne in it, though, to liven it up. I find that after the MC I want to use cayenne to season everything !!

-----

Today is my day 10 !! I love that because now I feel that any days I do are entirely by choice not obligation - and that usually makes me feel stronger. So far this cleanse I have lost 9 lbs. I have not had a super energy day, though, which is odd. I had a super energy 2 hours one day, but that was it. I have also not had a day when I feel "like a goddess" - this usually happens, too, a day or two when I feel very attractive and people notice that and I usually get compliments and comments on my weight loss, etc. So - odd. On the other hand, I have only had one half day of being depressed, and that was my own fault, for having forgotten to drink my minimum requirement of lemonade the day before. So...onward...I am still intending to go 12 days.

To try to prevent criticisms and active discouragement of my cleanses (as well as keep from tempting myself), I use my MCs as a chance for my boys to eat all the foods I don't really like myself: spaghetti and meatballs, frozen pizza, chicken tenders, sloppy joes, chili dogs, etc. Even if the food smells good, it is easy to remind myself that I don't even like that stuff. I end up drooling over the brocoli or string beans, etc., instead, lol. Yes, I feel like a complete hypocrite to work this hard on my own health and let them eat junk. But it works. They love it, as a type of food vacation, and they don't harass me with the usual, "mom's on a diet, so everyone's on a diet" complaint.

Night of Day 13 - all I can think of is cheating! I am truly ready to be done - I really am to the stage of 'hoping' I can make it to 15 days. It's not the hunger per se - it's the Social parts of eating I miss! I miss dining out, I miss wine I miss munching on nachos with friends! LOL - Although I want to greatly MINIMIZE the nacho part! I would take a nice salad and three nachos at this point! :) It's worse because my SIL is visiting from out of the country. We are going to breakfast tomorrow and I'm having... bottled water and mint tea! LOL! A strawberry waffle would be soooo much more yummy! :) Or even a plate of fruit with whole wheat crepes wrapped around cream cheese, nuts, bananas and honey. Yum!

I do think I'll be much better at moderation though - this I think I have learned. I DO see myself eating ribs in the future - I crave them the most! LOL - but I see two or three vs many! :) A step in the right direction! I do look forward to lots of lovely fruit and delectable salads in my future.

On the good side my tongue is noticably getting pinker! It is about 1/3 pink from the bottom up and pinker at the sides - it is still quite white (and a little yellowy) in the middle and at the back.

Still haven't lost much weight - in fact I think I was up two pounds today - I do feel a little bloated for some reason. I am offically no longer overweight though! I am in the 'normal' range now! :) Been a long while since I've seen this! Feels like an accomplishment - now to get to the lower end.

Keep up the good work all!

So today was super super hard for some reason. I slept a good 10 hours last night because I was so tired, but I've just been dragging all day long. I have also had a mild headache ever since about 5pm that is not going away. I tried to take a nap but due to roommates, it did not work. I feel a little better after laying down for a while though. I hope I don't feel this way every time I attempt exercise.

I just want pizza today. I cant stop thinking about it!! I tried limes to vary the taste of my life, but it's not much different and I miss the lemonade haha

Anyway, I hope tomorrow is better. I need to keep strong so I can make it the full 30!!

Bye everyone:)

can i take laxative tea while im doing the master cleanse

Considering your question, I'd highly suggest you read the book “Master Cleanser” by Stanley Burroughs. You can read it online:

http://healthandlight.com/TheMasterCleanse.pdf

There are three main elements to this cleanse:

1.) The lemonade

2.) The Salt Water Flush

3.) And finally, the Laxative tea at night

So to answer your question, yes, you are suppose to drink the laxative tea before you go to bed every night. This will help break up the toxins that the Salt Water Flush will eliminate in the morning for you.

Hi

Day 4 of MC#8

Never tried using alternative sweeteners before, but yesterday afternoon introduced agave into my concoction and noticed a great increase of hunger. I'm guessing that it is a detox or some other issue, but has anybody else noticed any changes after switching from MS to agave?

Morning of Day 3 of 1st MC

First two days were easier than I had anticipated! The only part that has been hard is feeling drowsy, a little fuzzy headed and extra tired - that seemed to be for the first 36 hrs and then the latter part of day 2 was much better. The tea does wake me up around 8 hrs after drinking with mild cramps and then a trip to the bathrm - I'm not complaining tho because I sleep to much anyway! My husband made all 3 meals for the fam yesterday and I hid in my bedroom when the smell got to be too tempting. He did leave the left over pizza out on the counter for what seemed like forever - ugh! That was the first time my tummy rumbled! It's so wierd how I am not hungry! Definitely have craving thoughts, but no real hunger. Today they are going out to breakfast so I will be alone for the first time in the house with all the food!! It's surprising tho, how that thought has crossed my mind and yet I know I will be okay. I feel so determined. Later today will be another test - we are going to a casual potluck wedding. I'll be making a double dose of lemanade to go!

2 down, 8 to go!

Hi Duckiedee - I feel for you - those last few days of the cleanse, being tempted like that in a social situation is just torture! Escpecially, when you are not intending to start a raw food diet, as many here do. I also do not intend to go raw. When I am eating well, a good half of my diet is raw (salads, fruit, some vegies), and that is good enough for me. I just thought I'd add one thought: if you were to give in now, at brunch, you would seriously regret it. I don't mean emotionally, I mean physically. I have gone too quickly into solid foods and it goes right through me. I end up with more nasty foul smelling diarhea than anything you have seen after a good SWF. More of it than you think you even put food into you. And that's mild. Some people have reported horrible stomach cramping to go with that, for added pleasantness. This is actually why I am only doing 12 days this time - I know I would be too tempted at the upcoming birthday celebration, and would rather do 12 days and have time to "re-enter" correctly, than do 15 days and suffer.

Adirondak - Other than that it is sweeter, so I use a little less of it, I have never noticed any immediate effect from the agave. Although, after doing agave several days in a row, I had a nagging instinctive feeling that I was not getting as much nutrition from the agave as from the maple syrup. So, I checked, and there are more minerals in the MS. There are actually different minerals in each type, so now I switch back and forth during the cleanse to get them all. I live the taste of the agave better, so I save that as my "treat" on hard days.

---

Today is my day 11. I have lost 10 lbs. It sounds so nice and steady - 10 lbs. in 10 days, but it was actually more like 5 lbs. in the first 2 days, nothing for 4, then one a day for the last 4. Still waiting for my high energy and "goddess" days. Broke up with a new b/f (not over the cleanse, lol), so that may have something to do with not feeling on top of the world...the good news, of course, that I did not resort to eating comfort food, but stayed on the MC!

Happy juicing!

Middle of Day 28.

After tonight, I'll have made it longer then any other MC that I've done before! Yeah! Yesterday was hard, as all I could think about was ending the cleanse. My tongue has been pink for half a day, then gets white again by the next day, so I guess I'm not detoxing. I'm still amazed the lax tea is still working. I wonder, how long does it take to fully clean out your intestines? I guess there is always google for that answer.

My face has begun to finally clear up, after 10 days of icky icky pimples. I still have a few ingrown ones, but one or two everyday is better then five to ten. I've also been experiencing slight pains in my wrist and ankle...the quick jolts of pain only last a minute at most....the same with sudden headaches. I'm glad that they don't last long, but when it starts it makes me stop in my tracks and I can't do anything.

I'm still exercising and have noticed most of my thighs are strong w/out the jiggle! This is a first in my life bc no matter how hard or much I used to work out, I could never get rid of the dreaded fat on my thighs.

The weight that I gained last Monday has diminished a bit, but I gained another lb yesterday. I guess my body is just stabilizing and trying to figure out what my ideal weight should be.
Two more days and I'l be at 30!

JessLB Welcome to the board. The first cleanse is always the hardest. Post whatever you are feeling here =)

Ali That bike ride sounds fabulous. It's been raining so much this summer here. I can't ride my bike much and I always feel better, after biking in the park, reading by the statue of liberty, then biking home. Thanks so much for your warm wishes. Things have still be the same, but the settling in period has begun and acceptance is continuing...there is one more step, but I must wait a month or so for that to happen.

McNoob: Yes, you can drink water after the tea. I usually do because it makes any cramps decrease later...I use all the beauty products that you've mentioned, but mine are all organic.

Ever Welcome to the board. I hope that you find this cleanse easy. If you are having a rough day, please post here. There is a lot of moral support on this board. I understand what you are going through. I usually don't have to wait as long as you do to do the Swf, but I usually have to do it 2 or 3 hours after I get up. There are plenty of days that I don't have my first lemonade, until after 1pm or as late as 5pm (I'm a bartender and go to bed around 2 or3am, but I wake up at 11 usually). I start to feel sluggish around 12, if I haven't had a lemonade. After I make it, I chug about two glasses down and am fine for a few more hours, where I start drinking the lemonade slower....I think the MC gets easier. After all if you were to stop now, then you'd get really sick. It's so much easier to make the lemonade and not have to worry about what's for lunch or dinner. I take each day as it comes, i.e. Today is day x, but tomorrow will be day y. This usually cheers me up. As far as the teeth go...I have receding gums. I brushed too hard as a child; thus, giving me sensitive teeth. I had a day where my teeth hurt so much, bu a few days later, I discovered that my gums were growing back!!!! I had been trying to take vitamin supplements to grow them back before the cleanse, but I didn't see any results, until now.

CSB: I make my own veggie broth. I've used lots of different ingredients and then froze the broth. I"ve made "Chinese" style, with lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves (instead of bay leaves), garlic, onions, etc. I labeled each container, so I'd know, when I'm done.

Sierra: Congrats on making it to Day 10. The next few days will be even easier.

Ducki: OMG! I feel the same way. My friends are always asking me to go out and eat with them or if I want to try this or that or when am I going to have another party or barbque. I have to remind them that I'm cleansing. I miss my barbe's, but luckily or unluckily it's been raining almost everyday here. I'm not craving anything in particular, but food smells so good right now. I play a game with myself. If i smell something, then I try to guess what it is before I pass the source...yum, I love nachos. I use vegan cheese for it. It's low in calories and fat. I always add more herbs and stuff too. I really want mozz sticks. Since I can't really eat them out, I think I'm going to make a baked version with vegan cheese, when I'm done. My goal, after this cleanse, is to not eat any fried food, unless I know that the fryer isn't used for meat products, which isn't the case in 98% of restaurants. Everything is about moderation. If you let yourself have one sinful thing a week, then you won't feel the need to crave it all the time.

adiron: As far as I know, the only substitute for MS is black strap molasses. You need the vitamins from either of these sources or you'll feel weak.

Thanks for the support. Yes, I'm surprised it's so easy. I'm so enjoying the freedom from cooking and, yuk, cleaning up from the cooking. I did decide to continue. I'm on day 11. On my 1st 10 days, I only lost about 9 or less pounds; but I lost 4-1/8" from my waist. YEA!!!. And, I'm feeling at least as good or better than when I wasn't on the MC.

Congrats on your thighs!

Hello,

I am on minus 3 ---> I like to have "direct vegetables juices 3 days course" prior my fun time on Master Cleanse.

It will be my second MC. Start on Wednesday lol I really cannot wait..

PS: I have to confess that my first MC I have been only reading this board without contributing anything. I find its great and extremely helpful :)
