Res - No weird dreams yet, but if I have any I'll post them.... might be funny. Hope they're not scary lol. I'm a wuss. One thing I'm noticing is that I feel more calm and peaceful and evenly all day long. Usually, I'm tense and fast-paced, very impatient. Today I'm at work and I feel mellow. It's nice. I'm alert and focused, but mellow. I'm suprisingly being more productive this way. Hope it lasts after the cleanse is over, but I bet that all depends on what foods I decide to eat after...

Wayneman - When I have had my SWF the past 3 days (I'm on Day 5 too), I had a BM as soon as I woke up before the SWF! Then right after I drink it I have another one (kinda solid), then the fun butt pee. Weird I never thought I'd be describing my BM to a guy...:D

I'm on Day 5 and as far as my weight, I don't have a scale! I decided not to go to the gym, but maybe I will to use the steam room and step on that scale. I weighed myself last week and I was like 185 (store scale at Target). It's interesting. I do notice that my tummy isn't protruding out as far as it did on Monday. LOL String bikinis this summer for sure!

Hello Everyone!

I am on Day 26 with 4 more days to go. The last time I did the MC it was for 10 days and I did not think I would make it the whole way through. Now look at me, doing 30 days! The end is very near and I have decided to run a half marathon on April 4th. My training begins Monday.

I know it will be hard to maintain the weight loss, that is why I am incorporating some new things into my life to stabilize and tone my new found weight. I would have never decided to run the half marathon if it was not for the cleanse, and the clarity that it gives. I also want to run a marathon in December, but I want to get through the half of marathon first.

It feels great to commit to something and follow through, so I want to hand it to everyone that has stuck to the fast and continue to the end! You all are great and will feel great in the end.

Today is day 1 for me. So far so good. I do have one question... do you drink the laxative tea every night or only the night before you start the cleanse?

hey all-

day two, first swf this morning, and it barley worked this time....i'm bummed. i think only about 1/4 came out. hmmmmm. same ratio that worked before. oh well, maybe tomorrow it will work better. i'll use a touch more salt.

feeling yukky overall, and wish i had upbeat encouraging things to share. maybe all the salt still in me?? or maybe the emotional detox is starting early. i'm so grateful for all of you. so nice to read everyone's stories.

wish me better luck tomorrow with the swf!

I am on Day 1.

I did the cleanse for the first time back in August. I did it for 11 days and was successful.

I planned to start the cleanse yesterday and kind of did. After my New Years Eve festivities I came home, drank my tea, did the SWF Thur morning BUT... I learned quickly that hangover day is NOT the day to start the cleanse. :( I went most of the day doing the lemondade but all Icould think about was hangover food. I don't even eat burgers but I wanted one. So I went ahead and did it and then drank my tea and started over this morning.

QUESTION: It's winter time and I want to be sipping something warm. Can we heat the lemonde? .. or does this take away some important property?

Thanks guys!

Marsh - When I started this cleanse on Monday I was kinda bummed on day 1 and 2 too cause I didn't have the results I "thought" were supposed to happen. What I'm finding is that it's different for everyone, and it'll take a day or 3 or 4 to see some of the results all the veterans are describing to us. I'm on Day 5 and I think today is the first day I can truely say the SWF is doing what it's supposed to. The next couple days will be better. :)

Good luck to everyone that is in progress. Keep up the good work!

hello all.

today is a pre day for me. i officially start tomorrow, but.... i have been naughty over the holidays with too many mochas :p (with milk! ugh! and also seems like i have been eating a lot of cheese! ugh!) and decided i might try only water and fruit today to help ease into the cleanse. i feel like the dairy really packs a punch on your system and am bracing myself for the detox of that.
this will be my 3rd MC. i am not a very heavy person and am vegetarian. apparently a toxic one as i vomited horribly on day 1 of the first cleanse and on day 2 of the second. MAYBE i will get through this one without the vomiting! (maybe : )
thank you all for sharing the bare bones of your joys and sufferings!
see you tomorrow after the wonderful SWF!

Hi everyone -

MC2/Day3 here. Things going pretty well since my first awful day with the rotten maple syrup (You're right BigWayne - haven't had pancakes with real maple syrup forever - YUM LOL - I decided about 5 1/2 years ago that I was done being morbidly obese. Started out my transformation Low-Carb and some things never really made their way back into the menu. Actually, I make some fabulous pancakes now sometimes (egg-whites, cottage cheese, & oatmeal - LOL) but was having them with sugar-free syrup. The MC will kick me off of the artificial sweetener habit though so maybe post-cleanse I will use that syrup up - or maybe I'll just have to stay on the cleanse until it is all done :D )

I'm sorry, I've forgotten who asked, but the answer is Yes - you take the laxative tea every night of the cleanse not just the first one.

So I'm pretty excited that I haven't been really hungry yet this time. I know I'm really hungry when I want to eat Anything - even things I normally can't stomach - like liver ;) Freezing cold though - thank goodness for hot hot showers.

Had a decent workout today - no weights, just agility exercises and I'm learning - at age 49 - to tackle a football dummy!! To the people who've been wondering about working out - you just have to try it and see. My last cleanse I was doing an hour of pretty intense weights followed by an hour of cardio - and no matter how much lemonade I drank all I could do afterwards was sit like a lump - completely wiped out and brain-dead - but I was being stupid and pushing too much. This cleanse I'm being more sensible. Tomorrow I'll do an hour of weights with some cardio intervals - but that's it. It is really important to make sure you surround your workout with lemonade - before, during, and after - at least that has been really helpful for me.

I think getting some exercise is helpful to the detox process - for one thing, you get your blood moving and warm up!! And sweating is a great way of cleansing.

Talking about dreams - remember - VERY IMPORTANT - if you are dreaming that you have to go to the bathroom - WAKE UP and GO! Trust me on this one :D

Happy juicing!
Margaret

Hi! My name is Ariel. This is my first time doing the Master Cleanse, and I am on Day 4.

I was expecting to feel pretty bad, so I am pleasantly surprised at how good I feel while doing this cleanse. Sometimes I miss eating food, but it's never about hunger, which just makes me realize that this cleanse is the best thing for me!

betty09, thanks. you're right. it's going to take my body a few days to get into cleansing mode. last fall it took a good few days, and then it worked great. i guess i was expecting too much too soon. the swf has been eeking out throughout the day, (not all at once over an half hour or so like last time), so i'm feeling less yukky.

im just not a cold weather person, and fasting when it's cold outside is trumping all of my comforting measures of eating....i think that's why i'm feeling out of sorts. but, i know that this means i have yet another opportunity to grow- i'll have to find other, healthier ways to warm up and feel "comforted."

here's to everyone's continued success!

I am happy to report that I'm halfway through Day 1. Whew!

This cleanse did not start off well at all. I drank my tea last night. But this morning had a fluke with the kids and didn't get to drink my sea salt water before heading out. THEN my friend who was supposed to bring my lemons didn't show. THEN I realized that one of kids through out the remainder ofm y maple syrup (which was going to carry me through the weekend).

So I went all day at work just sipping water and had almost talked myself into start over tomorrow when I realized the day was halfway over. So I ran over to my local grocery store hoping to find some grade B maple syrup - which I did not. BUT as I was browsing I remembered reading once about using agave instead, which they did have! So I got a small bottle of agave, some lemons, and ran home to fix my lemonade and finish day 1 strong.

I'm proud of myself for not giving in. Tomorrow its off to the farmers market to stock up on supplies. I do have to say however, the agave is a pleasant change from the maple syrup. May do switch out for some variety.

Happy New Year my fellow Lemonheads!! :)

Res and Wayneman, I rent Super Size Me every time I'm cleansing. So odd how I crave that movie only when I cleanse. But I have watched it about 7 times already and I can't enough of it. It so disgusting, but yet so fascinating ;)

I started to look at raw and vegetarian cook books, it's so much fun and I don't even have cravings when I see the food.

I had a great new years and, so differend and wiered for me to be sober on a NY eve :o LOL
But, i didn't have a hangover yesterday and instead spent the day shopping downtown, (which was freaken COLD :(). It's nice to start the year off clean and healthy. I have lost a total of 23lbs so far . But the best part is the state of bliss I've reached and that my fellow lemoheads it such a wonderful feeling :)

YOU CAN DO IT!! DON'T GIVE UP!! :D

Ohmygosh. I just made chili for my husband. It smells really good but I have no idea what it tastes like! I actually really enjoyed the prep process. I always used to cook as a stress reliever (and wonder why I'm 30 pounds overweight?) and just the act itself was very satisfying.

Just started this morning, Jan 2, 2009. This is day one and I hope to do at least 10 days, maybe more...
This is my 2nd cleanse, the 1st was last April, I did the 10 days and I lost 11 lbs. I felt great!:)
Can anyone tell me where I can find the master cleanse worksheet? I used it with my last cleanse, however I didn't make a note of where I had found it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi Everyone,

Just got back from the Water Store, the GYM and grocery store.

The guy that owns the water store where I get my Ionized High PH water said someone had called and asked him if heating up the water in a Microwave would screw up the good things about the Ionized water. He told me he had done some research and found stuff saying that you shouldn't drink any water that has been heated up in the NUKE. Said that someone did an experiment of heating water in a nuke, letting it cool then feeding plants with it. Killed the plants? I'll have to do my own research but I'm just going to heat my water for my tea the old fashion way for now.

I did 5 miles on the bike at the gym, random hills, level 9. I've been going every other day during the MC. Right next to the 24HR I go to there's a Thai Place... yummmmmy... It sure sounds good. Didn't go in though it will have to wait. Res will probably come up with a movie for me to watch about a guy that eats Thai food for a month. LOL

At the grocery store I picked up my Epsom Salts (on sale :D ) and then to the produce dept for some lemons. The sign said 99cents for Organic so I put 4 or 5 pounds in a bag. Got up to the check stand and they were 99 cents EACH. DAMN. Just as hi as they were at the Natural Foods store. That would have been around 15 or 20 bucks. No way. So I went back and got little piss ant regular lemons for 3 for a buck. About $8 worth. Eaghhhh... I don't think my lemonade taste as good with the regular ones as it did with the Organic. Not as "lemonie". :p I don't know who mentioned it but I also got some Smooth Move Chocolate Tea. I was looking for another brand that had been recomended but it was the only one they had beside the reg. which I already have. Not to fond of the taste of the regular SM.

I was putting stuff I learned on the BB in my PDA, on scrapes of paper around my computer, post it notes, etc... That doesn't work to well, unless of course you want to re-read a bunch of Posts that you probably already read a bunch of times. :)

Here is a TIP: Get out a little note book and when some one tells you about something cool or a book to read or a movie to see or a website... write it in your BB book. ...and maybe the screen name of who told you. Of course you could do it in note pad on your computer, but that would be too easy.

That the news from Rainy California,

See ya later.

Throw away your microwave. It was a good idea, sort of but it does really bad things to food and this isn't a theory it's a proven fact. It changes the molecular structure of the food and kills nutrients. There are a bunch of oven-ish things out there (I own one but currently have brain fog) that cooks food/warms it quickly. I use my toaster oven again. I used to heat up my water for tea in the microwave. Now I use my old fashioned whistling tea kettle. It's proven safe. ;) The microwave is a goner.

By the way I love Thai food. :p

Almost done with day 1 of MC1! Got a little hungry at 4pm. I don't think I am rationing the lemonade very well. I am finishing half of my lemonade at 5:30pm. Got a lot more to drink before the night is up.

SWF was hilarious. Took 6 minutes to kick in.

so far so good. no real complaints.

I'm going to rent Super Size Me this weekend... I haven't seen it yet! But you guys keep talking about it so I will. I'm a little irritated with a friend who seems irritated with me for cleansing. I am assuming that she just wants to do it too but doesn't have the willpower or drive to. She complains about her weight and that she doesn't feel well, but also says she just loves food too much so it won't work for her. We are supposed to be training for a half marathon that is in May (OC Marathon) and I explained that I will take it easy the month of Jan (I'm aiming for 20+ days) and I'll kick up training with her after my cleanse. TO make a long story short, she is not supportive. I didn't even ask her to do it with me or anything. lol Venting... So, I think I am going to let it go through one ear and out the other, keep on truckin and if she asks for info, I'll give it to her. But if she is going to make silly, uneducated comments, I will not feed into it. It's tough when you have a close friend/family that you cannot keep it from. But she should be supporting me no matter what right? I think so...

Wayneman - Organic lemons taste much better than regular ones...but they are more pricy. I am doing both, depending on which shopping say is closer to payday. :) It's lovely in CA when it rains

I loooooooooove chili!!!! All the eaters here at work have cakes, cookies, pies, etc. and I can smell everything! Good job not eating it.... Ya know, I really haven't been too hungry on this thing (Day 5). I hope it stays this way...

Betty - I got a lot of crap from people the first time I did this, including my parents, who after reading the info I sent them, went on to do the cleanse themselves. Now that my friends are seeing me do it again, there's nothing negative being said. Some of them are considering doing it themselves now. Just stick with it and maybe your results will motivate your friend to try it herself.

BTW, my house still smells like chili and man, it smells good. But I'm not really tempted - I've come too far!

Betty, it sucks that your friend isn't being supportive of you! Especially since you two are training for a half-marathon together! I also have friends who say they can't change their eating habits or they just don't have the willpower that I do. It makes me feel like they don't understand how much I struggle; They think I have it so easy. I don't know if I could be around someone who isn't supporting me in something I'm excited about.

I hope your friend is inspired by your success and able to see that even SHE can do it if she sets her mind to it!

Aloha,
Well, everything is great. I took it easy yesterday just because I wasn't sure how my body would react to the fast. I have no complaints which I'm very pleased to report. I actually took care of some dreaded organizing my drawers, closet, and amoire loaded with handbags :o) I may have to treat myself to ANOTHER ONE when I complete my 10 days. I guess, I have the 'reported" energy and I will probably jog tonight for about 20 mins.

Ocean: Oh yeah....

Reactions may include:

Increased joint or muscle pain
Headaches
Diarrhea
Extreme fatigue and/or its opposite, sleeplessness
Nausea
Sinus congestion
Fever (usually low grade) and/or chills
Frequent urination and/or urinary tract discharges
Drop in blood pressure
Skin eruptions, including: boils, hives, and rashes. Note: skin eruptions are often misdiagnosed as allergic reactions, resulting in the premature cessation of the cleansing program.
Cold or flu-like symptoms
You may think that you actually feel worse or that the treatment is not working at all during a cleanse. Do not despair. These are all signs that your treatment is working and that your body is going through the process of cleaning itself of impurities, toxins and imbalances.
Such reactions are temporary and can occur immediately -- or within several days, or even several weeks, of a detox. Symptoms usually pass within 1-3 days, but on rare occasions can last several weeks.

I'm almost done with Day 1 of my seventh cleanse. Aside from a few cravings (wanting Indian food and tapas), today wasn't too bad. I had a bit of a hunger spell only a little over an hour after taking one of my drinks. I believe it may have been due to not drinking enough water after that last drink. Even when drinking some at that time, the hunger didn't go away. I was chatting with a co-worker at the time and had to excuse myself as I made a hasty retreat towards the fridge and my saving grace - limade.

I took my bp a minute ago and it's nothing spectacular...140/88 pulse 55.

So far I've had 6 drinks. I'll shoot for 2 more in the next few hours and then I'll call it a wrap for Day 1. 8)

Hi All,

Im restarting Day 1 today! Im with (MSJewel2), it is too hard to start NY day. but today is going well, Im finishing a very busy day at work. I found on the last 2 cleanses that its better not to work or plan anything on days 2-5! it seems to be my worst detox days, hunger, headaches and just a grouch to be around! by day 4 I'm usually loving it and not having any cravings. I do fairly well through day 10, with the execption of last August the 9th and 10th day I was at a horse show in the heat and had dizzy spells.
I havent tried a winter cleanse since the 1st one in 06, and I only made it 4 days because of the detox symptoms and being chilled that time. I am planning this one better, dress warm and take a lot of hot showers. I just talked to my friend that introduced me to the MC and she says she will start it tomarrow. Its always easier with support, and this board is great for that too!!:)

MC1 -4 days in 05

Greetings everybody!

I am at day zero still but intend to start the MC on Sunday. Having purchased the kit online, I notice that the Maple Syrup quantity is for 6 glasses of lemonade daily whereas it seems to be the minimum based on Peter's book. Will I be okay with only 6 glasses? I'm afraid of running short before my ten days come to an end.

Also, I can't find more information on water: Purified or Spring water and not fluoridated water. Is filtered water fluoridated? I have a Brita filter. Can you tell me if it does the job or do I just get myself gallons of spring water?

I'm excited to start.
Happy new year everyone!

Hi Everybody,

Just got back from the doctors office.. I had called in an RX for some cough syrup they gave me last year, and they wouldn't okay it until I went in. I'm going to try not to use it, it will be an only if I can't sleep thing. My BP 128/78 ...then back to the store where my RX is to fill it. Lot's of food in there. :)

Hey BOOTS, can you type your Pancakes made with oatmeal and cottage cheese recipe in a post for me. It sounds pretty good, and healthy. I'd like to try it when I'm back to chewing.

Toolegittoquit - Wow!!! 28 days. YOU ROCK.

Betty09 - It makes a big difference if you're "near payday" or not. I work for a school district and we get Christmas Break off. Bad thing, we get paid only once a month... they pay us early in December too. So I'm rationing now so I have enough to make to the end of Jan.

Well I talked about it last night, but I didn't have any epsom salts here at the house, and I didn't want to bubble bath it cause it seemed weird to detox and sit in soapy chem water. I've got my empsom salts now!! I think Res said 2 cups and real hot water. So that's what I'm gonna go do. I'll be back after my soak.

See ya,

Hi all,

I am on Day 4 of my first MC. So far, so good. These four days have been HARD! I think about food constantly and I pretty much hate every minute of it. But, I know it's good for my body and I badly need a good cleanse, so I'm powering my way through it. I'm hoping the MC will help me break the hold that food has on my life and my emotions. I'm a HARDCORE food addict, so if I can do this, ANYONE can do it. :D

Hi. I enjoy reading all your posts.

MC1, Day 2

Except for not eating, and 45 min in the bathroom in the mornings, I don't really have any symptoms - just a normal day. I'm sure things will change later. I was a twinge hungry yesterday, but today I drank more water and that helped. I ran 3 miles again today and did a light weight workout. I'm still afraid my muscles will rob nutrients from other organs if I strength train too much, since I'm not getting any protein. And I don't want to be super sore and not able to take ibuprofin.

Good luck to those of you planning marathons! I've run two a lot of years ago and no desire to ever run another one.

My family is eating frozen burritos (yuk) and chips for supper now. Since they are all over 18, I told them I'm not cooking during my MC. I have to walk past the big batch of pumpkin chocolate chip muffins I made my son before the cleanse. Those are pretty tasty (had one before MC). I'm dreaming of eating my raw guacamole (avacado, jalapeno, lime juice, onion, garlic, tomato, sea salt) with carrots, celery and brocolli crudites when I'm done cleansing!

I'm just thrilled to have made it thru day 2 with essentially no problems! :D

Question: If toxins are stored in fat cells, can there be a person who is not toxic, but fat? I'm sure there are skinny, toxic people - where are their toxins stored? When my friend's husband had a physical, he was not overweight, and the doctor told him to keep doing whatever he was doing. He was actually an alcoholic and ate a lot of fast food. Not healthy at all.

RockStarAriel and KPainter-thx for your feedback. Ya we will see what happens. I'm just gonna to my thing. This is too awesome for me to let anything get in the way, and it's just logical and right. But for someone who has no idea about it except for the negative rumors it has, I guess I can understand how she could be judgemental. It's cool, no worries. All is good. :)

Hello!

This is my second MC and I am on day 1. It's been a big struggle today. But, I'm hanging in there. I know that clarity and contentment are right around the corner... right? Haha!

I actually have a question about the maple syrup and the quantity of lemonade I drink. I have no problem drinking the lemonade and usually only add one tablespoon of maple syrup to each glass (half the regular amount). Is that okay? Am I losing out by using less maple syrup? Also, I usually only drink the minimum amount of six glasses each day. Will drinking more than six glasses make the cleanse more effective?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Good luck to everyone on the cleanse!

Day # 5

Just finishing up day 5 and today was essentially like yesterday. I continue with the "coldies' and for some reason, I'm still tired feeling and have no energy. The no energy thing is not a usual detox symptom for me... but I know - every cleanse is different.

WayneMan, I really love Thai food... but I can't allow myself to think about that now!!! :D

Hi Meedis... I remember you from at least one other cleanse. Hope you have a good experience this time too!

Betty09, I've read 12 Steps to Raw Foods too, and I thought it was a good book. I love Victoria Boutenko. I have her Green for Life book too. For those of you who like the Boutenko's, Victoria has a new book coming out around the Springtime I think, called Green Smoothie Revolution. I can hardly wait to read it! By the way, I'm not a raw foodist, but am very interested in it. I eat a lot of raw foods though. I do eat a plant based diet though.... no animal products with the exception of a little raw honey on rare occasions.

For all of you who want to change your diets to be more healthy, reading about it really helps. There are many good books out there about it.

Also, if anyone wants a cool computer background to look at while you're cleansing, type in aqua lemons in your search engines and then click on images. You'll find a nice pic with a green background that has a lemon and a lime. :)

Happy cleansing!

MC1Day5

Hi Everybody!!!

Just got done with my soak in the tub. 30 year old homes do not come with bathtubs that fit a normal 6' 3" man. And certainly not one that is over weight. My giant Rotti, Scooby, had never seen me take a bath before. I had to tell him don't drink the bath water more than a couple of times. Didn't need him detoxing on epsom salts in the livingroom if you know what I mean. Scooby decided that it was fun to put his big rubber ball in the tub for me to have to take it out. One thing I learned was that it's pretty stupid to try and throw a rubber ball from the tub over the head of an animal that's damn near six feet tall standing on his hind legs. Well it was just high enough that he couldn't quite catch it (which he is a master at) so he did the Seal thing and bopped it with his nose. It bounced all over the top of the counter.. BUT didn't nock anything down. yeeew.:o

Had my bath, did my toe-nails and finger-nails (didn't paint em just cleaned and cut). Drinking my last lemonade of the night. Thinking while I was cutting my toenails I might want to start saving money so I can pay for pedicures when I get to old too cut em myself.

As tired as I was when I started day 5, it's been a pretty good day. I felt much better after I had showered and took off for the gym. Tomorrow I'll be closer to day 10 than to day 1 so that will probably give me strength to keep going. My detox symtoms have been pretty good so far... looking forward to the Acid Butt Pee Peter talked about in his book.

Keep Squeezing Everyone!

Hi Lin, I remember you as well. Especially with all the different green smoothie recipes you had. I had slipped on doing those and need to get back to that after I'm done with this cleanse.

Thank you Res for the welcome on the "2009 sign-up board". Yup I'm back and hopefully will be able to stick it out for another round of cleansing. I definitely need it.

Congrats to everyone for making it through another day. WayneMan, I look forward to being even closer to Day 10 myself. It's a very cool feeling knowing that you've gone the distance and are only a few steps away from the end goal.

Question: If toxins are stored in fat cells, can there be a person who is not toxic, but fat? I'm sure there are skinny, toxic people - where are their toxins stored? That's a very good question gourd4me. I don't pretend to know the answer but I would hazard a guess that even skinny people have fat cells (albeit not as many). Hence their toxins would also be stored there. It's definitely true that being skinny doesn't necessarily mean being healthy.

I was watching a DVD of Dynasty - Season 2. That show is so dated but so good. I definitely prefer original recipe Fallon over the newer Fallon. But anyway I fell asleep half-way through an episode and had to rewatch, so I only had one of my two drinks I wanted to have. I think I'll have the remaining one in the next ten minutes or so, and then I'll prepare my smooth move tea for the night and call it a day. Hopefully I'll get to sleep straight through w/o a middle of the night BM like last night.

MC7 - Day 1

Ocean333
January 2nd, 2009, 10:16 PM
Ocean: Oh yeah....

Reactions may include:

Increased joint or muscle pain
Headaches
Diarrhea
Extreme fatigue and/or its opposite, sleeplessness
Nausea
Sinus congestion
Fever (usually low grade) and/or chills
Frequent urination and/or urinary tract discharges
Drop in blood pressure
Skin eruptions, including: boils, hives, and rashes. Note: skin eruptions are often misdiagnosed as allergic reactions, resulting in the premature cessation of the cleansing program.
Cold or flu-like symptoms
You may think that you actually feel worse or that the treatment is not working at all during a cleanse. Do not despair. These are all signs that your treatment is working and that your body is going through the process of cleaning itself of impurities, toxins and imbalances.
Such reactions are temporary and can occur immediately -- or within several days, or even several weeks, of a detox. Symptoms usually pass within 1-3 days, but on rare occasions can last several weeks.
Thank you Res for all the info. I feel reassured :) It's my first day on the very first cleanse!! I'm going to keep going!

Hey everyone, sounds like everyone is feeling pretty good, well tonight i will be taking my first smooth move tea, and tomarrow i will be on my way.
Gourd4me I had that same thought today when I was driving around town, I thought were do the people with no fat on them keep there toxins, that is somthing to think about, I know where I keep mine, i'm afraid I have alot of toxins, So looking forward to completing this cleanse, my husband and a few friends are anxious to see how I do, so they might try it if all comes out well. Well you all have a great evening and I'll talk to u all later, d

Tell me things arent already starting to come out of the pores right?

Hi, Today is 1/2/09, and I am on day 3 of the Cleanse. This is the second MC I have been on, last one almost six years ago.
I have had a stressful year, eat meat, carbs, sugar, red wine, coffee regularly, turned 41, and have been veeeerrrrrrry tired all the time. So, I decided it was time to detox.
I am having alot of detox symptoms, but I know it's for my better good.

Day 1: I didn't start w/ tea the night prior, or morning of, but had it that evening. Had about 56oz. of lemonade w/grade b. Was craving food, specifically hamburger, small headache and had shaky hands at work, but not too badly.

Day 2: Had good energy all day, drank tea am/pm, and about 60 oz. of lemonade. Craving protein, chicken, salad.

Day 3: Today was acid bum day! :eek:I was woken out of sleep to go...geez! Anyhow, have been exhausted, sluggish and had to keep going all day today. Walked the dogs, rested alot.I took a mineral salt bath, gave nyself a facial to help exfoliate etc..still feel a bit tired, finished my tea for the night and 56oz. of lemonade today. Still miss chomping food, but am dealing okay. I am looking forward to having the energy again, and I have already lost 6lbs. so seeing my stomach flatten is added motivation.

Good Luck to All, will keep you posted!

pre day-

if you cant confess on the board then who can you confess to?
today was my pre day. i planned on fruit and water only...to help ease in. well, give an inch take a mile! i ended up eating some sweets. i may end up paying dearly for it later! i read a story of a cleanser who would vomit every day and made it 10 days. so far i have done 2 cleanses and vomited 1 day on each cleanse. i hope to get through mc3 vomit free!:p we'll see though.
ah smooth move .... let the ceremonies begin!

Aloha,
Okay, I survived day 2 and can't believe I haven't cracked...I've struggled with discipline in the past and finally made my mind up that I can do what ever I put my mind to. Today, I actually prepared chicken and baked it for my daughter have on her salad and to my surprise I didn't nibble or want to. I also, had to go by the store to replenish my purified, spring water and walked down the isles and didn't buy anything other than what I was suppose to :D
I made the lemonade with 2 Tablespoons less maple syrup because yesterday I thought it was a lttle too sweet and I was hungrier today than yesterday even though I drank more water. SO  I guess I will add all 14 Tablespoons tomorrow.

January 3rd, 2009, 02:08 AM
I forgot to ask, I know it's okay to have peppermint tea but I haven't found if it's okay to add a little maple syrup to it 8) I've been drinking it without and since I was a little hungrier today it would have been nice to add a little since I didn't use the full amount for the lemonade.

Well just had my tea at the end of day 1 and apart from using tablespoons of salt and half the water (giving the full blame to combining, kids, animals, breakfast and a life in metric) it's been fine. Had a major clear out thanks to my overdose so I'll be interested to see how tomorrow goes. Managed to walk the dog and take a trip to the park so my energy is normal so far....

When I wake up it will be day 2!!! Woo hoo!!! :)

KPainter
January 3rd, 2009, 07:03 AM
Taut: I used to do that with the tea. Since I didn't use all the maple syrup, I had some of my "allotment" left over and that allowed me to have sweetened tea.

Nursegirl: I can't imagine owning an Italian restaurant and trying to cleanse. Being Italian myself, pasta is a HUGE weakness for me! Hang in there!

Wayneman: Your bath story killed me! My cats like to drink the bath water too. Animals are goofy.(And yeah, Thai food rocks!)

Today is the start of day 6 for me and I'm feeling good (down 8 pounds now). I was able to get raw agave at the health food store yesterday, so that's what today's lemonade is made with. Can't wait to see how it makes the lemonade taste. I also got celtic sea salt and while I didn't notice a big difference from the other non-celtic sea salt I was using, the SWF did seem to go down a little faster today. Lately, my favorite past time has been looking at raw food recipes online. lol I'm more food focused than ever - just in a different way.

Have a good day everyone!

Morning Lemonheads, Wow you've been busy overnight! I have 4 pages of posts to read - way to go!!! :D

Dear Newbies: please click on this link to "General Help for the Newbies (http://therawfoodsite.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1154)" and read, read, read. As the board gets busier it makes it difficult for the Moderators to answer the same questions over and over again when it's right there at your fingertips. All Answers are in the "BOOK" and in the above thread and can be found by using the Search Feature at the top of each page.

I'll repost this from time to time. No I'm not cranky. :p Just teaching you to fish for yourselves. ;)

This isn't to frighten anyone else from asking questions - but the "BASICS" are in the book and here in the forums so please continue asking questions but find the Basics in the Newbie forum. Make sense? ;)

Aloha Taut. I visited Hawaii (well Honolulu) for the first time last October. I definitely plan on coming back. In response to your question, I've added maple syrup to my peppermint tea and in addition to the extra calories, it brings out the flavor of the tea. So I'd say go for it.

Just got done with my second flush. I'm contemplating going for a swim this morning. I took lessons, ironically after my visit to Honolulu, and I want to keep them fresh and not forget. Hopefully I'll have energy to do at least 20 minutes. :D

Meedis Question: If toxins are stored in fat cells, can there be a person who is not toxic, but fat?
I doubt it. I think it would be difficult to find a non toxic person except maybe in the rain forest. :)

I had a drs visit in November and a few tests. He told me for my size I'm not overweight (that's another topic and rant) but I know me and I am. As he read off the test results the thing that stood out to me is that he said I was "toxic". I eat mostly organic (all meat I eat is free range grass fed) and I have a list of the veggies and fruits that we basically must buy organic and those that are OK grown commercially. So I was floored and disappointed to hear the word toxic. But I have to agree because I feel like crap. <-- sorry. lol

Our bodies need fat so there is a measure of it that is healthy but to just be fat (been there) isn't healthy because as you pointed out toxins are stored in the fat.

I noticed on the tea I got from the health food store says not to take it more than 7 days, can I get some feedback on this. Is it ok to do it longer. thanks sailorman

Sailorman: You'll be fine. The difference here is that you're not eating "food". The note on the box is in reference to becoming dependent on the lax tea while you're eating - which you won't because when you complete your cleanse you stop the tea and it takes a few days for things to return to normal.

advancedapproach: Ho boy, the sense of smell really kicks in. You're the first (I think) to mention it this round. When I'm cleansing and at work I always smell "feet". :o

Taut: Don't think about caving or you'll program your mind to allow you to fail. Set your sights on Day 10 and push for it. Imagine yourself at the end of the cleanse and that will keep you going. :)

You really don't want to (well you do) add anything to the peppermint tea. Stick to the book and you'll do fine. *Remember, if you get hungry drink lemonade ;)

Love,
~Res

MC3D2 for me!!!
feeling good.
I just had to take a fast from my fast!!
how weird is that?
I have an appt. tuesday for my annual physical and I needed to have a fasting blood test done this morning.
had to fast for 12 hours.
so I had to fast from my lemonade!!!!
too funny!!
but I had the blood drawn and I'm home doing my SWF and now back into the lemonade and feeling good.
I've got some errands to do today and I'm hoping to squeeze in a strength training workout.
I've been neglecting to take care of myself lately.
slacking on the exercise, not eating very well (even though I am a strict vegan) and I've been smoking.
so, with this cleanse, I am stopping the junk food, I've put down the butts and I'm going to get myself moving again.
fortunately, I'm not overweight (although I'd love to go down another 5 or 10 and just be on the lower end of the weight range for my height).
so, all is well.
I'm slightly craving food and cigs.
but I'm not going there!!!
happy cleansing everybody!!!

Hi, everyone! I'm a newbie on day 3!!! It's been a wild ride...Yesterday, the senna tea had woken me early. I became very light-headed on the pot and thought I'd pass out and wanted to eat something to combat what I think was low blood sugar. But I remembered people saying they'd get sick after eating while on the cleanse. So, that helped. Instead I drank some lemonade and soon felt fine!
Today, when the tea woke me up, I drank the salt flush. But for some reason it took 3 hours to get rid of the flush!! So, I was up between 4 and 7!!! Tomorrow I'll just eliminate, go back to bed. When I wake for good, I'll do the flush.
Otherwise, I'm surprised at how not hungry I am!
Optimistically yours,
Sheila

Hi, Lita!
You are supposed to drink the laxative tea at bedtime every night and do the salt water flush first thing when you're up for good in the morning. Then have your "breakfast" lemonade and you're off and running for the rest of the day. Drink as much lemonade as you like. I drink about on average one glass per hour while drinking water in between.
Happy cleansing!!

Good Morning everyone! My wife and I just started the first day of our first ever MC! The SWF is down (and out for me, wife is still waiting) and I just made my first lemonade. WOW! It tastes really good! I was worried, what if it doesn't taste good? But those fears are gone. And I like the little afterburn from the cayenne. Well, here's to ten days (I'd like to do 20 if I can, but I am just focusing on 10 for my first ever flush) It's nice to be able to share and see how others are doing! Good luck to all, we'll keep you posted!

Happy New Year to ALL!!
I'll do the tea tonight and start with the SWF tomorrow. I know it's good for me but I'm sensing I don't have the usual motivation this time. That worries me some....like I'm not sure of my resolve. I'm hoping all of you good people will be an encouragement. :)

I'm NOT looking forward to being COLD (it seems a January cleanse always heightens the sense of being cold) and I always miss the event of chewing my food. The hunger isn't usually so bad, but I just miss the event of eating. Each cleanse has been different, but some things are pretty constant. :)

I'd like to do a cleanse that is more focused on the spiritual side than just a physical cleansing.

Here we go... one day at a time. Wish me luck.

back again, well i counted 4 water slide from the sw, feeling really good, made my lemon drink, I put 36 oz of water, using my Adams peanut butter jar, and added 2 whole lemons and 2/8 of tsp of cyanne and 4 tblespoons of maple syrup, and I'll drink this slowly and inbetween my next drink i'll drink water, plus i'll be getting extra water using this much water, which is really good for the flushing of toxins. I do have just a slight head ache nothing to really bother with, I don't drink coffee or pops so it must be hopefully toxins. Tomarrow i'll be doing things different when it comes to the sw. I think I'll get a good book and sit on the toilet, I hate to say this but that wasn't my only accident, my computer is to far from my bathroom , but i must say it doesn't tak e me long to learn, so glad i'm not the only one, well talk to you all later, deb

I just started January 2nd and will go for 20 days. This is my 8th MC. I love cleaning my body like this. The best time is after the holidays when I gorged myself with food. Then in New Year's eve I mixed drinks and got sick and ate a big Chinese meal and ice cream which gave me a sore throat and yesterday I got a cold and my body is feeling all aching. So I know this cleanse will be great for me. I am repulsed when I think of fod and I just want to cleanse my whole body from all the garbage I had put into it since my last cleanse. Since I moved back to the States I gained 10 pounds so I want to get rid of that again too. The key for me is staying focused on my goals and I believe in virtual reality when it comes to being tempted with good. Just think of what the food tastes like, eat it in your mind and then it's all over with. Take a gulp of your delicious lemonade drink. This works for me. Exercising and this cleanse go hand in hand to rejuvenate your body. Don't look for any ways to be an exception to any of the rules in this cleanse. You are only cheating yourself. This works! Just read the how tos and do them. You'll be happy with yourself in the end and realise you have the stamina and discipline to do it. Let's all make this cleanse count in our lives this 2009!! Go Team!![/SIZ

MC2/D4 - Hi everyone! So, do we detox anger? I am just filled with rage today - I'm lucky my workout included hitting a medicine ball with a bat LOL. In other news, I'm cold and hungry - yup, I'd go for the liver but what I'd really like is a huge salad with lots of stuff in it including avocado and some grilled chicken - no dressing, or just a little lemon juice (yes, lemon juice :D ) - it's nice to be back to craving good food again.

WAYNEMAN - Can't take credit for the pancake recipe - it is a Body For Life recipe originally I think, and I know it as "Litecakes" - Beat 4 eggwhites with a touch of some kind of sweetener - I used to use splenda, but a tiny squirt of agave would be better. Add 1/4 cup cottage cheese and 1/2 cup plain old-fashioned oatmeal. Beat everything together and I think they're better if you add a touch of some spice like cinnamon (I like cardamom). It works best if you make it in a blender because then the oats get all ground up into flour - I use my Magic Bullet (the thing on infomercials for frozen drinks :D) and it's perfect. Cook and enjoy. Your pan needs to be well greased because these things STICK, and they won't form bubbles like normal pancakes, just flip when the top looks "dry" This recipe makes one serving for a woman - you would probably want 1.5 or double it. Serve with your favorite syrup :D - although my husband likes them "dry".

Well, now that I've "talked" about food I'm feeling cheerier- thanks :)

Debbie H - no, you're not the only one! The first time I did the cleanse I got back into bed after drinking the SWF because lots of posts on the board talked about going back to sleep after drinking. Big Mistake!!! LOL Now even if I think "was that a twinge" - I head for the bathroom - or just stay in there - I'm currently reading Tim Gunn's Guide To Style!

Got to get moving and get some stuff done around the house while I still have some energy. Yesterday I completely crashed around 4.

Everyone is doing so well - it is really exciting to be doing this together :) - Margaret

MC1Day6 (over the hump kind of)

Morning All,

Meedis - It's day two for you (of MC7 !!!) but welcome aboard and welcome to 09. 5 More days still seems like a long way off.

KPPainter - Yeah, pets are funny, no doubt. When I first start the water for my shower in the morning (or anytime) my cat (Kitty Witty) comes running an hops up on the toilet seat to watch the water run. Then when I'm done she gets back up there, she likes to lick my leg while I am drying off. :)

Well my rest wasn't as good as I expected last night, my back hurt a lot. Made it hard to sleep. So once again I'm tired again this morning, even though I slept in. This morning when I got on the scale, it was actually up a pound? What's up with that. Maybe it's just the scale trying to tweek my beak. I sure as hell didn't eat anything yesterday. However, I don't think I drank as much water as I have been... I'm going to make an effort to up my water today!

Hey Res - I don't seem to get the same bang for the buck on the SWF that everyone is getting. It's NEVER made me run to the John. It's 32 oz of water and two teaspoons of salt, righ? I'm using light grey course celtic sea salt. Should it be the ground up fine salt? Do you think I should add more salt? I'm planning on doing 3 teaspoons tomorrow morning. OH and for all of you having trouble drinking the SWF, the warmer the better it goes down.

Also, Chocolate Smooth Move taste as crappy as the regular Smooth Move (almost). :( I'm glad it was on sale at 1/2 off. I should of waited until I found the Yogi stuff that Lin talked about.

Oh well, time for breakfast, of to make some juice.

Bye Now,

gourd: Yes the skin is a huge topic and you're not supposed to put anything on it that you can't eat. Well, we can't eat soap or shampoo but using natural products help alot. I threw away all moisturizers and now use virgin coconut oil and a product from Wilderness Family Naturals called Body Butter for my hands. Dr Mercola is selling some natural products now but I haven't really checked it out yet. www.mercola.com (http://www.mercola.com).

We've had Triathalon's and body builders cleanse while training!! I was so impressed and they didn't change their routine. I wish I would've kept track of the thread. I might look for it or you can search for "triathalon" or "workout" to see if it will come up. You're doing Great! :)

Most of the body lotions have glycerin which does a good job of encasing the skin from external exposure and therefore it allows the skin to heal itself. However, that protection also clogs the pores. Oils are what 'hydrates' the skin. Usually lighter oils are better. Lotions have glycerin mixed in with some oils but most people don't like the greasy feel of oils and prefer a smooth feel. Coconut oil is VERY heavy, and it reminds me of the beach and sun-tan lotions. Olive oil is too and it smells.... like food. :) Light plant based oils are the best for your skin. Grape seed oil is my favorite. At one time Wal-Mart sold it in pint jars for about $3, but you can pay big bucks at health food chains and physical therapy offices. Safflower oil is also relatively light and you can get it in the grocery aisle. It is food grade and therefore also acceptable for skin. Use lotions which contain glycerin, mineral oil (petroleum) sparingly. In the wind and harsh elements it's good to protect your skin with a coating of wax (and it feels smooth) but it will clog the skin's pores.

Day 3!

Day 1
Had a huge elimination after the SWF on day 1. (There's ten pounds gone right there:eek:!)
Drank 60 0z of LA using agave nectar instead of MS.
Started getting a slight headache towards the end of the night, but nothing as bad as my first cleanse.

Day 2
I just did the SWF and water throughout the day.
Worked the last two nights, and just basically slept my whole day away.
Too lazy to make the LA.

Day 3
SWF this morning nothing to write about.
Drinking LA even as we speak.
No headache, cravings have begun, but that is probably from not drinking any LA yesterday.
I really need to get to the health food store to get MS, don't really like the Agave nectar.

Marsh: Welcome back, yes I remember you posting from my last cleanse. Hang in there. We can do it!

hopalong: I also work the night shift. 7P-7A. I usually do 3 in a row, but sometimes, that varies.
I usually drink my tea at around 2A on the nights that I work, and have my water in the car for when I get off (for the SWF) which I add the salt to and drink it down on the way home.
That way I can go to the bathroom before I lay down to go to sleep. ( I make my LA for the day as soon as I get home, giving the SWF a chance to work its way through)
When I wake up, I usually drink half of my LA for the day(30 oz) and half of my water(30oz) before I leave out for work.
I drink the rest at work, all before midnight, and then drink my tea again at 2A.
On the nights that I do not work, I just wing it.
Hope that helps.

This thread is going much faster than the last time I cleansed. I am trying to keep up with all the new posts.

Keep up the good work everyone!

Day 3. I started on Jan.1. This is my second MC and it's even better this time. My last one went for 21 days and I hated to stop. I plan on the same length this time also. Happy cleansing everyone!

I kept looking for info on how to do a 21 day water fast whilst still getting electrolytes. I bought the book but I don't have an answer yet as to whether or not the Master Cleanse will allow me to have no bowel movements. If it does, I will have to do a water fast. I am trying to heal an anal fissure and I'm hoping that ceasing bowel movements will do the trick. So my boyfriend who is 50 lbs. overweight will be doing the Master Cleanse and I think I'm stuck with a water fast...YIPPEE! I'd rather do the Master Cleanse but I get the feeling there will be bowel movements every day just due to the potassium in the lemons and limes regardless of the senna tea and the salt water flush.

Wayne - I could've warned you about the so called "chocolate smooth move" but you'd already bought it. It tastes (to me) like wet straw smells. Blech!

Yes, 3 tsp of salt should do the trick. Burroughs even says to up the salt if you need to.

By the way everyone, someone posted a few years ago that while she was headed to the bathroom "due to the twinge" she bent over to pick up one of her kids socks. Apparently that was a bad idea. :o When the twinge hits, don't delay. Get to the bathroom the sock will wait.

A few other suggestions:

*If you think it's gas, guess again.

*Take an extra pair of pants, underwear and socks to work.

Just got back from the gym. I was hoping I'd be able to swim but the pool was too crowded so I opted instead on doing 30-minutes of elliptical. I still can't believe I was able to do that, even though I did reduce my normal intensity, which I believe helped me get through. As for the swimming, it looks like I'm better off going about an hour before the gym closes. But not today since I've had more than enough exercise (for me).

I felt the lack of motivation prior to this current cleanse and on my 5th cleanse. I think for me once I got started, I had a "there's no turning back now" attitude and just pressed through. Then it helps to read the board and know that I'm not alone. So don't worry...it'll come to you and before you know it, you'll be close to reaching your end goal.

Wow I'm on day three. I'm proud to say I haven't eatin a thing. I have chewed a piece of gum each day. I did forget to drink the tea the night before the cleanse started. I've been drinking 6 glasses of the stuff daily. The first day I did the SWF. Got sick and had to struggle keep the salt water down. I had diarrea for at least 3 hours afterwards. Was late to work because of it. I decided to take the tea at night and in the morning. The SWF is too much. I mean drinking a quart of that stuff was not an easy task. I haven't been feeling sick. Do have small headaches here and there. I'm hungry off and on also. I drink water between the lemonade when thirsty. Being a serious funk food eater and food lover I do miss food. I've decided stop eating meat after the cleanse is over. I'm gonna wean myself off meat. I hardly eat pork and red meat. So eliminating that won't be a problem. It's the other meat I will have to stuggle with. Currently I just have to make it through the cleanse. I'm gonna do 10 days. I've got 7 days to go. Good luck to everyone.

SWF2go: Take a peek :)

"The benefits of Extra Virgin Coconut Oil don't stop in your kitchen. For decades, professional massage therapists have used pure coconut oil to knead away tight stressed muscles.

However, you don't have to be a professional massage therapist to gain the skin and tissue support benefits of coconut oil. Feel free to use this high-quality coconut oil as you would any lotion.
Coconut oil is ideal for skin care. It helps protect your skin from the aging effects of free radicals, and can help improve the appearance of skin with its anti-aging benefits.
In fact, physiologist and biochemist Ray Peat, Ph.D. considers coconut oil to be an antioxidant, due to its stability and resistance to oxidation and free radical formation. Plus, he feels it reduces our need for the antioxidant protection of vitamin E.

Like Dr. Peat, many experts believe coconut oil may help restore more youthful-looking skin. When coconut oil is absorbed into the skin and connective tissues, it helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by helping to keep connective tissues strong and supple.

Coconut oil will not only bring temporary benefits to the skin, but it will aid in restoring your skin's youthful appearance. The coconut oil will aid in exfoliating the outer layer of dead skin cells, making the skin smoother. It also penetrates into the deeper layers of the skin to strengthen the underlying tissues."

I order from iherb.com and get the 52 or 54 oz jar. I use it for cooking, on salad, as a lotion and even give it to my dog. lol It smells divine and it reminds me of the summer and sun tan lotion too. :)

I've heard great things about grapeseed oil although I've never used it. Mercola has bad things to say about Safflower oil (I used to use Hollywood) and most other oils for cooking. Even Virgin olive oil can't take the heat that coconut oil can and after one try of using olive oil as a lotion I'll never do that again. Anything light as a feather stuck to me. :o The olive oil is GREAT in salads though. Mmm, salads.

Well, I never do this but I did for over an hour last night. I watched the Travel Channel and a show called "Man vs Food"! One of the meals consisted of, 72 oz steak AND shrimp AND salad AND a giant roll AND a baked potato. If he eats it all in under an hour he gets it free. He downed it in 29 minutes. At that moment I would've too. Seriously, I can't imagine eating all of that at once!

You're all doing great! :D It's so good to hear everyone is sticking with it through thick and thin (no pun intended).

Day 3 for me and I'm down 5 lbs. I just love the cleanse. :)

hey fellow cleansers,

feeling better today, slowly getting into the groove. it's definitely more challenging for me to cleanse in the wintertime. i'm so cold. once i get moving around, though, i warm up.

lightde-
hi! i can't believe you went 40 days last time. that is awesome. i did 20, this time i'm in for 10, and then in a few months when it warms up, i'll go for another long one. in sort of a weird way, i love not being bothered by having to eat. and it is weird because i love food.

honey-
speaking of food, i know what you mean about holiday eating. i ate so much knowing this cleanse whas just around the corner. i'm glad to be hitting the reset button on my body with this cleanse so i'll be in a much healthier mode when i'm done.

debbie-
i'm into my second change of clothes this morning, too. a few months ago someone suggested panty liners. i've been though several of them as well. after a few days my body gets used to this odd routine with the swf and it gets smoother....

shana30-
i'm in the food industry, too, and started with day one at work. bring lots of lemonade and water because the water is probably not good there, straight out of the tap. and what i do, is just look at all of the food as this sort of substance that i am not really interacting with right now. like it's something to just manipulate and then serve. if i'm satisfied with lemonade, then i'm not hungry, i have plenty of energy, and that mind over matter thing works for me. hope that helps.

somebody else mentioned something about not being as motivated this time, and i have to say that i feel like i am just getting through these days as fast as i can also. i think it's the cold. or maybe a weird detox reaction. i'm committed though, so thanks to all of you who are here cleansing with me!

hang in there everyone!!

love, marsh

Day 6...can't believe I'm not hungry....awesome! Ok funny story time! So I have cats and they love water (weird). They jump in the shower after I'm done n splash my bath water. They also like toilet paper. So here I am at 5am hurting too pee(reg pee) from loads of water night before (headache). I make it, pee n can't find the toilet paper....I thought the cats stole it. So I get more do my thing n flush. Then I drink my swf n wait :) So 10 minutes later I needed to go I thought n now with light out I see what really happpened to the tp. Those little $#!? Cats unraveled the roll into the toilet! Dumb me flushed it away n now I've got a tp clog when ne minute you know what's comin knockin.
Oh yeah...no plunger.
Went to target. ;) LOL it's close

Hey Everyone! I just registered as a user today. I have been lurking for a while reading posts. I am on day 6 of MC2. My last one was in Jan. 2007 for 10 days after I had my son and now I am doing this one after having my daughter this past September. :)

I am oddly doing much better this time and not having such bad detox symptoms like the last fast -- I truly thought I was dying days 1-5. I am relieved that I am doing better and hoping to make it to Day 10--- would love to go longer because I could stand to lose another 5-7pounds but we will see.

I am on my 2nd lemonade drink for the day and feeling good with energy. I have worked out twice so far and hoping to go today sometime but may just go tomorrow instead. I am worried about when I go back to work Monday, I am in sales and drive around all day -- hopefully I will make it without having too many complications. I am crossing my fingers on that one. I have been doing the tea in the am and pm because I vomitted after doing the SWF and cannot deal with that everyday.

my question is kind of an odd one... I noticed at the bottom of one of my toilet bowls that there is this yellow stain that will not go away-- I tried scrubbing... I just noticed it yesterday night and thought it was due to the toxins coming out of me?? weird right? although I have only used that particular toilet once or twice and the other two toilets are fine. I know it's probably totally a coincidence or just some lime build up we never noticed before but thought I would just ask and see if this has happen to anyone else here?

hmm besides that I think it helps I have two young ones to keep up with... they are keeping me super busy to not think about the whole eating thing... but watching my hubby eat is kind of tough... I have lost 8 1/2lbs as of this morning. I weigh myself when I get up... I am hoping to lose at least another 7 or so more by day 10... may have to extend it. I would really love to lose 10 more lbs.

Remembering from last time the fast left me feeling so fantastic and energetic and I am looking forward to that again! I am planning to get back to eating better and of course back to my workouts... usually I go 6X per week... it's the eating that I have a hard time with. I think the pregnancy made me get out of control even though I only gain 25-30 lbs.

Good luck to everyone!

MC 3/Day 29

It's amazing that I've been doing this cleanse for so many days and only had a few detox symtptoms in the beginning stages. Nothing happened, all went smooth 'til this morning. I woke up wiyh flu like symptoms. Stuffy sinus, a little soar throat, lotsa musus in my throat, and a weak and somewhat sore body. I just want to sleep today :(. Don't want t do anything except stay in bed turn my portable heater on blast next to me and sleep, just sleep.

Looks like my toxins were hiding and hoping for me to quit long time ago before they would get zapped.

MC1D2- Feeling pretty good today. Last night I was crazy tired and slept HARD. (that's what she said). I am not hungry, but am definitely craving eating something solid. SWF was a little tougher going down this morning, but it hits me within 10 min so it's all over pretty quick.

I was worried last night that I would have problems keeping up. Today is going fine though. A little sluggish, but cant tell if it is because of the detox or because I slept in more than usual.

No tongueproblems.

I definitely recommend swishing with h2o after lemonade because of its ridiculous sugar and acid content. Might even want to go to the store and get ACT fluoride rinse or Listerine w/ fluoride. This drink is CAVITY CAUSING so be careful.

On day 2 of 5th MC

Wow this MC is going good so far, usually day 2 is terrible! i had a headache this am but it went away with the SWF. then took 3 dogs to the dog park and played, i have good energy and very little cravings, I think it might be better this round because my last cleanse was just in August and I usually wait a year in between. I am still chilled today, its a lot better to be chilled when its a 100 out, LOL. but I am feeling very positive today, my husband did comment that I am a bit scattered today, but Im just glad to be up and moving! Hang in there and thanks for all the good info, keep it coming!

Hello Everyone, I have enjoyed reading your adventures on here.

I had planned on beginning my first MC right after Christmas, but I decided to have a sudden surgery to get all 4 wisdom teeth removed on Dec 19th.

So as I'm waiting for that to heal, I have been reading your posts as motivation. I'm on day 16 of healing so I'm hoping before the end of the month, I will be healed enough to begin my MC!

Thank you again for all your stories, and hopefully I will be posting my own by the end of the month.

I went back to bed after I eliminated this morning. Wipe out from a cold which I got from the beach at La Jolla as it was too cold for me as I wasn't dressed warm enough. I am taking advantage of this time and catching up on my mail, etc. and lotsa sleep. My body is weak but I think it's also from all the heavy food I ate during the holidays.

I am looking forward to getting to the gym this coming week.

I hadn't planned any special events this month so that helps me not worry about missing out on going out to restaurants and seeing the food.

I'm looking forward to cleansing and losing 15 pounds.

Thanks for all the encouragement and comments posted here. It's great doing this together!

Meedis,
Thanks for the response. Today I decided to make individual cups of lemonade just to change it up. I've been in Honolulu going on 3 years now and it's a nice but alot of traffic during the week with only 3 major highways. I'm curious since I see you've done a few MC. I've read the MC book and I'm taking the laxative tea at night and I've read other people are waking up in the middle of the night to go to the restroom. I'm not having that effect, I drank mine before going to bed and wake up do the SWF approx 30 mins later I'm experiencing the butt pee that Res mentioned. After the SWF I have no more BP or BM until next morning. Do you have any advice because according to everything I've read I'm good.

Hey - thanks for sharing everyone.

Definitely emotional detox today - anger and sadness, and of course the massive chills. Thinking about food a lot, too.

Not a chance of me quitting or slipping the MC - I'm in it for at least 10 days - but I'm blue.

I think one of the things that happens is that emotions and feelings just get closer to the surface without food and our usual patterns of behavior to help insulate us. This certainly isn't a bad thing, but I have difficulty with being cold normally and the MC chill is just making it very hard for me to see the sunny side just now.

So thanks again for sharing your experiences and funny stories everyone - it's really nice to have lemon-friends :)

Hi, everyone. This is my 4MC, day one. This by far is the best beginning. I didn't do the SW this morning because it usually makes me sick. So I have just stuck to the water, lemonade, and tea. I have a slight headache but that is it. My first two MC I got massive headaches that lasted two days with vomiting. The 3rd time no vomiting. :) This time around seems to be much better. I have added pysillium husk to my lemonade for my colon cleansing. I know I am suppose to strictly stick to the book but I think it helps me feel full and have better BM. I have lost a total of 20lbs over the 3 fasts. I hope to lose another 10 to 20 this time. I also hope to go longer than 10 days. My hubby and I are going on our 15th Ann. cruise in June. This is my motivation and goal this time on the MC. :)

Question: Where does your body get protein during this fast? Doesn't our bodies need protein everyday? I don't want to lose muscle.

MC1 - Day 3. I have had no major detox symptoms, and really don't feel any better or more energetic yet (although I've lost 5 lbs so far). But I know it will change! I'm taking it one day at a time. I am a little bored. That should improve when I go back to work Monday.

SWF2go - Thanks for the skin care tips! I've used coconut oil before bedtime on my arms and legs, and wiped a little excess olive oil on my hands, but never thought of grapeseed or other oils for my skin. Res had some nice web site suggestions for lotions that I've looked at. While I was refilling my water bottles today, I checked their lotions, but wasn't impressed. I live in a small town, small health food store. I'll probably order from Res's suggested sites. Res, I had already decided to take my bottle of coconut oil to my post MC massage.

SWF2go - I saw that same show about eating a 72 oz steak! Doesn't even appeal to me. I'm not really craving food, but I'm dreaming about it.

Day #6

Wow... so many posts since yesterday! And just think... more people are planning to start on Monday!! How will we ever read them all! :D

I've had a little more energy today. I got in 30 min. of exercise on my rebounder this morning.

I'm still suffering with the "coldies".... I'm sitting here with a T-shirt, long sleeve fleece shirt, and a hooded sweatshirt on.... and gloves.... and I'm freezing!

Like Res, I use organic coconut oil on my skin and I like it very much.

After talking about Thai food yesterday, my DH, DD, and DS decided to go out for Thai food for dinner tonight and I stayed home and drank lemonade! :( When they got home, I could actually smell Thai food on them when they came in the house. That's how much my sense of smell is heightened right now!

Hang in there everybody, and happy cleansing!!

Hi
I'm new to this site and have some questions. First, should I do a raw food diet for a few weeks to make the transition to the Master Cleanse easier? Next, I'm on high blood pressure medication and must stay on it. Will the medication hinder the effectiveness of the Cleanse? Finally, if after ten days on the Cleanse my tongue is not pink can I stop the Cleanse and still get some of the benefits?
Thanks,

Okay, so I hated doing my SWF this morning, especially since I woke up with a sore throat and flu like symptoms today. But why have I not licked a lemon wedge on my past cleanses and in the past 29 days to make it easier ? So, I decided to lick and drink of what I had left of this elixir of butt pee of mine, and THIS IS THE WAY TO GO my fellow lemonheads!!!!!!!

I am still in the preparation phase. I don't get a lot of support from my family. I have just been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and have been taking a lot of prescription drugs. Taking drugs is really difficult for me since I have tried to manage everything naturally for the last 40 years. When you have enough pain it is amazing what you will do! I am scared to do the cleanse but I want to do it, does that sound crazy? I am so excited to find this site and be able to read what so many others have gone through. I know that I need to feel the fear and do it anyway. I believe that this can reduce the inflammation in my body and make a big difference. Thank you

Good luck on your decision. I went on the cleanse for the first time last October. I was experiencing back pain--it felt like some sort of inflammation. It was most bothersome at night when trying to sleep. After 2 months of this constant discomfort (and not being one to run to the doctor), I decided to go on the cleanse.

I read a few books about the cleanse and did a lot of reading about it on line. It seemed like the most natural thing to do. By the 5th day of the cleanse, my back felt perfect for the first time in two months. It has not hurt once since then.

I stayed on it for the full 10 days--it is not always easy, especially if you are not surrounded by supportive people or if you are in charge of cooking for your family! But once you've started and you have all the materials, and you read about how so many others are managing to get through it, you become encouraged to stay on it until the end.

I am on day #2 of my second MC--this time I'm doing it to start the year off right. Two months of pain is nothing compared to 40 years, and I am not qualified to give advice on what you should do, but I'll bet Res can direct you to some good sites that may help you decide. Good thoughts to you and keep us posted!

Feeling very tired, but empowered.

Well - its a new year and time for a another cleanse. I am starting tomorrow (Jan 4th) on my 10th cleanse! I have been cleansing at least once a year since 2002 with wonderful results. Those first 3 days are always so tough, so I am excited to get through them. This year's cleanse carries special significance - a break up of a long term relationship, move to family, new job starting in february, end of holidays (with an 8 lb weight gain - yikes!). Truly this is a cleanse for a new beginning. I'm really excited to get underway!! Good luck to everyone! :)

hahahahaha, no Wayneman, I didn't mean it that way :o. But you got it my point. :p
I'm out of it and don't really know what I'm typing or talking about anymore.

It's been 29 freaken days since I ate  and I'm beginnig to act spaced out. But, the great thing about being spaced out is everyone's leaving me alone and letting me a hermit and do my cleanse in peace, FINALLY!! :D

Next time I'm gonna act crazy from day one :D

Wayne: We have a "whine" thread. lol :)

Hang in there everybody. I've seen more people this time around mention food than I can remember. I'm feeling the same way and it's only Day 3. Each cleanse is truly different. But we press on!

It's going to start getting crazy in here. But we like it that way. ;)

Am about to drink my tea for the night and go to bed. I'm hoping the combo will warm me up. My husband's like a furnace - I may have put my cold feet on him. lol

It's day 3 on the cleanse. I had the herbal tea this morning. I didn't have not one elimination. I did the SWF yesterday and the first day. I had MBs. I can't do the SWF. I had to struggle to keep the stuff down. So I'm gonna do the herb tea. Today about 20 minutes ago I cheated. I ate 1 Lindt Strangasomething or another chocolates plus 4 pastachios. After reading the "Some People Need to Take it Easy" bulletins I'm getting nervous. Maybe I should have prepared myself better to do this. I was still eating solid foods up until the night before I started (Jan 1st). Should I over look the small cheating and continue or just stop completely?

hello lemon freshies!
mc3-d1 and so far no vomit! hooray! ;)
energy good, and i am always cold... so i took a 40 infrared sauna.
i have one of those personal size ones that looks like a ginormous toaster cover- quilted silver metallic material. ($180 new on ebay last year)
you sit in it on a chair and your head sticks out the top. havent done one in a while but figured it would help sweat some toxins out (which means fewer symptoms hopefully!) and warm me up.

have a 'dead sea' salt bath planned for later (which will hopefully do those things again as well. [$30 for 15lbs pure dead sea salts on ebay. free ship!] can you tell i like ebay?) and just think of all the money we save on food while cleansing! :D

been drinking loads of hot peppermint tea. although i use the same tea bag for 5 or so mugs. its just a hint of flavor and really its to stay warm and my version today of getting my water in between the drinks.

i am doing raw agave nectar to start the cleanse although not really loving it. too sweet. may back off a little on the dose and see if that helps. i noticed last time i mc'd that if i didnt get enough syrup in on one day, my energy would start out really really low the next day. dont know if its science, but thought i'd share. and drinking the extra water really makes a difference on the detox symptoms.

after my first cleanse we planted a lemon tree, i really had to sell that idea too. then after the 2nd. i realized i like cleansing with limes better! doh! oh well. lemons are more versatile right? :p
so for a few days i'm using my home grown super lemony lemons! that cute little tree is loaded.
i need to remember to go to the farmers market in the morning. i'm sure to find some good citrus there.

thank you all for your stories and your honesty! its been a joy to read the posts.

I'm not even pmsing and I'm watching a funny movie and crying, way weird, then laughing. And then I called my mom and she was laughing at me n I was crying on the phone with her, then we laughed...not like me. I'm gonna try running tomorrow, maybe I'll release endorphins or something...

Sunnyrae - I dream of an infrared sauna!! Tried one at a lawn and garden show about 4 years ago. No room for the one I want (2 person, wood with bench and radio, about $1500) at my house until the youngest one moves out. He's a freshman in college, so I'm planning on 3 more years. :D

Also I envy you living in a warm climate with citrus trees. It was 55 today in the midwest, but falling to about 18 tonight. I have started planning my vegetable garden for summer. :)

aaaaaahahahahahahah you are so brilliant Wayneman! As of right now, I don't see any insanity in putting a shopping cart in my living room. And I can just buy a cardboard with all kinds of writing on it for a few bucks from someone in the financial district or downtown :D

Kpainter, I've lost 23 lbs so far. I went from 148 to 125 and I currently fit into size 4 jeans . My weight loss has slowed down, but it's okay that way cuz my goal was to be 125 and I still have to reach day 40, which means more weight loss. I feel like a million bucks and it's such a good feeling to do so many days. YOU CAN DO IT!! trust me, it get easier and easier. Craving for food is not even a factor anymore. All I want to do is drink water, that's my only craving. :o

:)Hi today is my third day and I'm doing great. I've lost 7.2 pounds so far. I plan on doing the fast for 10 days and completely changing my eating habits afterward. Today was my first day of temptation because I attended a birthday celebration with all my friends. We celebrate food more than anything really. My first two days were easy because I stayed in the house.

I go back to work on Monday but I plan to stick with it because I have my mind made up.

Well, I guess I'd save money too if I had my own lemon tree! Otherwise, buying maple syrup and organic lemons costs just about as much as regular food where I am! I guess if I were just buying for me it would be cheaper, but I still have to feed that hungry man I live with.

Just drank my first tea of MC3--first full day is tomorrow! Feeling a little under the weather (but on the way up) so hopefully it won't affect me too much.

Looking forward to ditching the holiday pounds and getting back to better eating. Getting married in 6 months, and I wanna be FIT! ;)

if i had only known in 07 what i learned in 08! you are so lucky to have such a healthy way to shape up before your wedding! i was under stress planning mine and really didnt know how to drop a little weight in a healthy way, which is why i got the IR sauna. And when its cold that thing is fabulous!

i just went and got some limes....need to mix it up!
btw, if any of you arent using an electric ctrus juicer, i feel you should consider it if the cost of citrus is an issue. it really maximizes the amount of juice you get. 1 lime small to med just gave 2 glasses of drink. i am VERY thorough when i juice! ;)

Hi. I am ending my first day of the MC. I have never done anything like this before. It has been a little rough but not as much as I expected. I live in a house where there is always Mexican food on the stove. The smells are rough. I am a little nervous about the lemonade giving me heartburn when I go to sleep but I guess I am about to find out. I hope I don't feel horrible in the morning! It is weird how all day I kept thinking that maybe I should try a vegetarian diet. I have never considered it before but I can't seem to stop thinking about it.

At this point, I feel like I could stay on the cleanse for as long as I wanted to, but we're headed to New Orleans on the 17th, so I plan on breaking the fast on the 14th to give myself time to adjust back to food. Although I plan to eat as raw and vegetarian in Nola as possible. Tough city to do that in! Wish me luck.

Anyhow, I'm going to regroup and start my 3rd cleanse on December 7th, after my Trigonometry exam is over.

hi, I'm in the middle of snowy winter here in Berlin, Germany, and I'm on day four of my first master cleanse which I began on New Year's Day.
I write because I'm wondering about the loss of necessary warmth-offering, insulating fat. I am a dancer and am very lean by nature, and I'm doing the cleanse not to lose weight but to flush out my system. It's very cold here, and I just don't want to freeze. If anyone has any information, it would be much appreciated.
thanks and happy cleansing!

Just wrapping up of my 3rd SWF. I noticed it seemed to go through me a lot quicker this morning. I'm not sure if that's a good sign or not. On the flip side, my smooth move tea didn't seem to do much to me when I woke up. Then again, I did drink it about an hour later than I normally do, so that could've been the reason.

We'll see how it goes today. Hopefully today will be just another cleansing day.

trelynn82, sorry to hear about you caving in. Don't beat yourself too hard. The temptations are so great. I always have to remind myself not to go snacking on anything since I'm supposed to be cleansing. You should be ready to go at it again when the 7th comes.

Hi All,

Gourd4Me - Where else in the world can you have someone ask you about your poop first thing in the morning. I'm sitting here working on my last 8oz glass of SWF, made with 3 teaspoons. The first three went down fine, like normal, 6 or 7 gulps each. Then I needed to hit the head. I don't think it was attributable to the SWF, too soon after getting up, and too soon after first 3 glasses of SWF. I was surprised that it wasn't Butt Pee... mostly solid matter, kinda dark, and the john water was still clear. Weird going on 7 days with no food and still have simi-firm poops.

Will see what the pumped up SWF brings. Still working on that 4th glass though:p

I'll probably get the ACID BUTT PEE while I drive to work tomorrow for the first time in two weeks.

Oh yeah, as for weight (I had gone up yesterday)... I know why, I had forgot about taking my BP meds. The one I take has a diuretic in it. I wasn't pee'n like normal. I'm back down today. Loss = 12lbs so far.

Hi there - I need some advice and welcome input from anyone and everyone. I'm contemplating starting MC #3 for about 14 days. I've recently been weight training 3 days a week, cardio 4-5 days a week. I don't think the weight training is a good idea without protein to recover, but I'm thinking of high rep/low resistance core work and cardio 4-5 days a week. I don't want to screw up the good thing I've got going right now, and I don't particularly need to lose weight, maybe just "lean out" a bit. Thoughts on exercise while on the cleanse? Will I be wasting my time or causing harm?

Just got back from the gym. I was hoping I'd be able to swim but the pool was too crowded so I opted instead on doing 30-minutes of elliptical. I still can't believe I was able to do that, even though I did reduce my normal intensity, which I believe helped me get through. As for the swimming, it looks like I'm better off going about an hour before the gym closes. But not today since I've had more than enough exercise (for me).

MC7 - Day 2 (inching one step closer to end goal)

Frank: Yikes! Turn up the heater! There's not a lot you can do about the "cold feeling". It goes with the territory. Your metabolism slows down and with the detox it's part of the symptoms. "Bundle up" is the only thing I can tell you.

Although this is controversial, I use warm to hot water for my lemonade. I put the maple in first, then the hot water, top it off with room temp water and then add the lemon juice. Heating up the juice is supposed to kill or diminish the enzymes but I had successful cleanses doing this without knowing about it. lol

Hang in there! :)

Love,

Wow I'm so proud of everyone! You're persevering and that's what it's all about!

*Remember, this is "DETOX" so you're not going to feel like climbing Mt Everest at first OR you could. Each person and each cleanse is different. Some people can have loads of energy the first 3 Days and others just want to crawl into bed until it's over. This is ALL NORMAL. :)

Experience each day - one at a time but Go For The Goal that you set for yourself.

Thinking about quitting? Don't. How many times are you going to "Start" and not finish? What's the good of starting if you don't go for the goal? You have the supplies, you know there's no solid food for 10 days. You won't die. :) I promise. PLUS at the end of those 10 days YOU GET TO EAT AGAIN. So go for it.

This isn't forever, it's 10 days and you're doing something wonderful for yourself that NO ONE can do for you except You!

Think of how your car drives after you get an oil change. How long has it been since you changed your own oil? ;) That's what the MC is similar to for your body. YOU CAN DO IT! :D

Happy New Year everyone! I'm back for my 4th cleanse. This is day 3 of a 10 day. My last two were 21'ers and my first was 10 so this one should feel like a walk in the park. It's nice to log on and see that this site is still vital.

My cleanse is going well except that I usually do it when it's warmer outside. I'm post menopausal and usually am always hot, but not now. I'm freezing cold all the time except for when I have a hot flash. The workouts warm me up for a little while but for the most part, I'm pretty uncomfortable. Lots of layers and when I have a hot flash, much energy used up peeling everything off. I suppose it keeps my mind off the food!

I went on this cleanse to "press the reset" so to speak. My last one was about 3-4 months ago. In that time I ate well and eventually resumed my "stress" diet. That's the one that I fall into when I have too much stress in my life. (merry stressmas!) Too much sugar and processed flour. The cleanse helps me to remove the cravings and calm my mind and body down so that I can resume a healthy lifestyle of food and exercise. I am so grateful to have found this tool. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and for being here, A-

Hi everyone. I'm on my first day of my first MC. I did a 21 day juice/veggie fast a few years ago, but this SWF, lemonade drink, laxative tea thing is all new to me. I've researched it alot and am totally ready and psyched up for it. I'm doing it for weight loss, but also for the cleansing factors. I've been eating a SAD diet for probably ever and really want to change my habits. The posts really help and you can bet I'll be on here daily looking for advice and encouragement. Love to help anyone else along the way as well. I did the tea last night and the SWF this morning. That was...well... interesting...didnt love it, but got it all down. I'm definitely planning on the 10 day cleanse, but I might go longer... We'll see. Weighed and measured myself this morning...THAT was not pretty, but I'll keep you all posted. Thanks!!

I am actually going to start on Tuesday. This will be my 4th time and I love it. I do have a question though. The 1st time I done the Master Cleanse, I went 15 days and lost 26 pounds. I know I lost alot of junk because I went from a size 18 to a size 6. I did not lose any body fat according to the scale. When I started I was 33%, and 26 lbs. later and much smaller, I was still 33%. Do you have a possible answer? Thanks for your help!!!

This is a clogged sewage pipe (just so none of you faint). Your colon is similar. This is a visual for questions about "How can solids still come out when I've only been drinking liquids".

When you do the MC the junk on the walls of your colon come off in "Layers". You can have caked on junk for years - yup years. That's why it's important to do the LAX Tea and then the SWF or do the LAX tea both morning and evening. The loose stuff comes off first, then the process begins again with softening (LAX tea) and then moving it out (SWF or LAX tea in the a.m.).

http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/attachments/plumbing/8295d1209959899-gravel-clogged-sewage-pipe-lateral-how-what-do-about-sewer-pipes-april08_10_cropped.jpg

http://www.ubergizmo.com/photos/2008/6/clogged-pipe-robot.jpg

It's the same thing with a pan with burnt food. The loose stuff comes off first and pretty easy and then you soak the pan to get the stuck junk off.

Im on day 7 woooo hooooo!!! This is totally the coolest thing I've ever done to my body ;) I'm still having semi solid bm's too just like WayneMan said. I have 2-3 before my swf, then butt pee with some semi solid pieces, more like wisps of mucus LOL. Otherwise, freezing, some random minor headaches n that's it.

Res-Sometimes I get lemon chunks in my lemonade. Since these are technically solid how imperitive is it that I get these out? I use an old school manual juicer. Or maybe I just have a crapload of crap in my system n that's why I'm poopin solid on day 7?

Res

Betty you can actually eliminate a combo of solids and liquids till the end. One of my cleanse buddies was still getting occasional solids at the end of a 53 day cleanse. Others who faithfully go for 40 days reported the same thing. Check out the "pipe" visual posted here or in the SWF thread. Feces can get impacted due to what we eat and how we eliminate. Dr Mercola always says "The Health is in the gut". Oh what we do to ourselves! :(

The "After the cleanse" thread and forums are fun and educational (when we get to that point) and can be almost as busy as this thread as we experiment and learn from each other how to eat right. lol Which apparently takes a lifetime for some of us.

Mickey69 - I have run 3 miles twice now with no problem (I'm starting Day 4). I also do an easy kettlebell workout (weights) and stretching on the odd days, and a slightly harder kettlebell workout on the even days. I know we can live for 10 days without protein, but I'm concerned about doing a hearty weight workout on the cleanse. I bought Yuri Elkaim's ebook, Eating for Energy, which is about raw foods. He was also a professional soccer athlete and coaches athletes now. In his Week 12 of the raw diet he recommends a 2 day Master Cleanse and says "I would also recommend that you limit your physical activity during these 2 days as your body will be low in fuel." Yuri has very good raw recipes for pre and post workout energy drinks. And if you haven't tried kettlebells, you'll love them!

Betty09 - I use a manual juicer too. I don't think the little bits of pulp matter much. I swallowed a seed the other day. I thought of using it as an excuse to quit because I had cheated and had solid food.:D

I am on my third day and I am having a hard time! I am also PMSing badly actually I should be getting my period tomorrow and I am miserable. The first day was not so bad, I am really not doing well on this day. I am extremely tired and get to have the pleasure of going to one of my favorite places to eat with a friend who is moving, sort of her farewell lunch I am going to suffer. I really hope it gets easier, maybe once I go back to work I won't have such a problem.

Day 1 here, hello cleansers! This is my 3rd cleanse in 3 years. I hope to go at least 20 days but I take it one day at a time. I just drank my salt water and I'm waiting for the bomb to drop. I think that this site is invaluable during a cleanse. I appreciate reading everyone's dailys so much.

Stay strong cleansers! It feels lso great when it's done!

Betty: ah, ok. :) Strangely Burroughs says you can put the entire lemon in the blender as opposed to just the juice and it will kick up detox a notch or two. I've never understood this entirely and wish I had an answer but don't. He also says to add pulp to the lemonade. So I'm with you. Perhaps since we're dealing with lemons (part of the cleanse) and not tacos (not part of the cleanse) it's all ok if you get a chunk or 3. ;)

This is Day 4 of our cleanse; and, I have lost six pounds :D My husband doesn't wish to lose any more weight; so, we increased his maple syrup by one tablespoon for every 10 oz drink 8)

Yesterday, I was a litter more tired than the day before (detox symptoms). My husband hasn't had any detox symptoms and is maintaining his weight. This morning, I woke up at 2 a.m because I had to go (BM). I returned to bed and awoke at 7 a.m. feeling refreshed. I want to lose 20 lbs.; so, I have 14 lbs. to go!

My husband also started pulling oil three weeks ago. His teeth are whiter, his face has a moisturized glow, and he doesn't suffer as much from dry eyes. Since he has had such a success, I began pulling oil when I started the cleanse. My teeth were noticeably whiter immediately! Pulling Oil has other health benefits. I'm seeking to eliminate hypertension.

This month I plan to start a health challenge at work. I hope to elicit others to improve their health which includes the 10 Day Master Cleanse, 30-minute daily walking teams & joining Kaiser Permanente's 10,000 Step Program, and drinking 32 oz. of green smoothies each day.

What a refreshing way to begin the new year!

To better health,

Tanya & Rich

Hi nickiec!

Glad to see another day-1er here! I'm on my second cleanse . . . haven't done it in a while (last time was about 2 years ago), and am excited and a little bit anxious about starting again.

Out of curiosity, was your second cleansing experience similar, easier or harder than your first? Not sure what I should expect this time around, though maybe it depends on the state of my body.

I did 10 days last time and I'm aiming for 10-15 this time around, depending on how I feel. Just drank my swf a while ago, and it was harder than I remember it being (never really felt nauseous or like I might not be able to keep it down the last time around & definitely feel that way now).

Good luck to you and I hope to see you around the board!

Hang in there Wynnem! Sucks you're pmsing n sucks even more about that lunch. But what you're doing is bigger than a pms symptom or a measly little lunch. Just think of eating as simply not an option at all. The Epsom salt bath helped me n I had my period on Day 1....not fun. You can do it :)

Day 4 here. Do.... ok.

I seem to be detoxing loads of anger and irritation because I keep getting into it with my hubby. He renigged on joining me for at least 10 days but has given up pop/soda, white flour and ? So it's not entirely my fault, he's cranky too.

I start back to work tomorrow and am looking forward to getting back on a schedule.

Hope everyone else is doing good.

Hi Everyone! I'm doing my second cleanse and my roommate is doing her first. We are on our second day, just did the SWF and things seem to be going well so far. I have one question... If it isn't possible to do the SWF first thing in the morning is it better to do it at night, or to not do it at all? I can't wake up any earlier than I already do, and I have a 2 hour commute to get to work. I don't want to do the flush only to end up on the train on the way to work in a predicament! Is it better to do it at night, or not at all?

Yikes!!

Having second thoughts about the syrup I purchased . . . don't know why, but I decided to try this syrup that was marketed specifically for the cleanse--it is a blend of maple syrup & palm syrup (neera). At the time I thought back to people who've used agave and figured it was okay to try something other than 100% maple syrup, but now as I'm about to mix my first drink I'm worried I made the wrong choice, and I don't want to start off on the wrong foot.

Thinking I might just go buy some maple syrup, but hate the idea that I wasted money on that other syrup (I already opened the package, so I can't return it) . . . any advice would be appreciated!!

MC1 DAY 4

Thanks Res for the encouraging response to last night's post. I truly needed it.

Maybe I shouldn't have taken my gf home. I mean she was eating around me and that didn't help. She was also teasing me. She starts the cleanse tomorrow. I'm not sure how she's gonna get the stuff she needs? I have everything at my house. I guess she will have one of her friends take her. I'll call her later to find out.

I read all the post about the yeast. I don't recall reading about it in the book. Hope I don't have any issues with that. I did have problem here and there last year with that. If so I'll order the probiotics just in case.

Unlike some of you guys I avoid people who are eating at all cost. This is my first cleanse I have yet to exercise or get on a scale. I'm gonna attempt to exercise today to a work out video. I knew what my weight was before I started. Besides water weight I don't think I will lose much. I'm lazing around just cleaning my apt and doing chores.

Until later on good luck and blessings to all.

I am starting day one of my cleanse tommorow (this will be my second cleanse, first cleanse was 9/14 for 21 days) and will be drinking the smooth move tea tonight. I saw they now have a chocolate flavor smooth move and wanted to find out if this is ok to use??
Thanks for any help or responses! I am looking forward to doing it again and conversing with everyone during it. The support on this board is incredible!

I am on day 2 of my fifth cleanse.

I have a specific goal this time as I had developed Multiple Chemical Sensitivity since my last clease due to overexposure to chemical odor masking agents called "Air Fresheners". Ha! That they are not!

Day 2 is always a good day for me because the SWF flush and the Smooth Move Tea have done their work and cleaned all of the food particles out of my digestive tract on this day. 8)

Day one is always not fully cleaned. :)

Hey Rachel,

I hate to see you waste your money too but I would definitely stick with the maple syrup as suggested by Burroughs. It really seems we shouldn't deviate from the ingredients unless you are diabetic. I think that a lot of people out there know the cleanse is popular and use that to make money with these products they say are "designed for the cleanse".
Good Luck!

MC1 Day4

Res thanks for the response to my post late last night I really needed it.

As for me it's afternoon of my 4th day. I'm lazing around the apt doing chores. Only plan on leaving the house once today quick run to heath food store. I want to get some of that Senna tea and peppermint tea. I did the SWF as much as I hate it this morning. Had typical results. Frequent BMs most of yellowish stuff plus some burning nothing serious.

I find the SWF has better effect then two teas. I did that yesterday didn't have one BM all day. I can't stand taking the SWF plus it's time consuming in AM. I have to work Monday-Friday this week. I have to be to work at 9am I get up at 6am to do the SWF. Doesn't give me enough time handle that and get ready. I'm trying the Senna tea. See if that works tomorrow.

I am feeling better. I can't stand being around people who get to eat. It's torture. I'm able to avoid it at work. I had to sent my gf home last night. She was eating around me and teasing me with food. I feel bad for her she starts the MC tomorrow Jan. 5th. She smokes chief and is a light smoker of cigarettes. We will see how she does.

I'm gonna get some exercise in today considering I have so much energy. Don't want to waste it. Until later blessing to everyone new and old to MC.

Gigi

good morning everyone, today is day 2 feeling really good, did my sw and stayed real close to the toilet today, no problems, drinking my lemon breakfast, you know what's good? when i put my maple syrup in my drink I leave a little on the spoon its like dessert, it tastes sooooo good and i kind of feel like i'm cheating but i'm not. I got up real early this morning and had a very small bm and then I went back to bed, and then got up later and took my sw and had mainly orange or yellow butt pee, I sure hope further into this cleanse i'll be getting solids. Well still cold no hot flashes, I sure enjoy reading everyones log, very inlightening( I know that's not how you spell that word) today I'm going to try and shovel off our porch, its a big porch about 1/2 foot of snow. Well talk to you all later, deb

MC1D3- just weighed myself - lost 6 lbs, which is pretty crazy. However, I have had no symptoms of detoxifying and haven't really found this to be that difficult. It is more mind over matter at this point. I cant imagine getting any solids out after a SWF. I guess I don't know what I am waiting for...

Hi Lynda - Otis?
I saw on a post (from Toligit-) about drinking the Smooth Move Chocolate flavor. I bought some the other day. Thanks god it was 1/2 off, so I didn't waste too much money. Res told me that she thought it tasted like wet straw, and I kind of think it has more of an old wet dirty gym sock flavor. YUM.

It's okay to use, but don't think it's going to taste like hot chocolate. So it's all up to you, and it will make you poo. :)

Hey Everyone, I just watched a cooking show called "Just Cook This"... it was pretty good. Last night I watched a show called Hamburger Heaven (or Paradise) yum, burger... Can't wait till I can cook again, it's my hobby. Res and I were talking about Microwaves being unhealthy to use. Anyone out there have a Turbo, convection, infrared thing a ma bob? Does it work?

Ohhhhhh hot food to chew. Just a few more days. It's as much fun to make as it is to eat. :)

Hi everyone,

I'm on Day 3 of my 2nd cleanse. I feel fantastic and happy that I'm on the journey again. I am enjoying the ease of making my lemonade and the joy of simple discoveries like the fact that the Animal Planet rarely shows food commercials for humans :) My cat seems to like it too.

I did my 1st cleanse in March of 2008 for 22 days. I lost 34 pounds and gained back 12. Not bad. Not great. I'm back for more. Ready, focused and excited this go round for the mental clarity and amazing physical benefits.

I have Peter's book in the bathroom & you guys online. LOL

I look forward to the awesome support of folks on this site. My first cleanse I lurked around the boards. This go round I'm here to share & support others.

Happy New Year!

Hey!

Otis is my english bulldogs name. lol. Thanks for responding. So I can use either but you are basically saying it is not very tasty? Do you just use the regular smooth move? I would assume they both work about the same? I was so hoping it would taste like hot chocolate but I had a feeling it might not be that tasty....

Yeah... I guess there is more information coming out about microwaves not being safe. I don't use mine anymore except during the cleanse I warm up my salt water so it tastes more like chicken broth and goes down easier.

Kia ora! this is my first post, but my second MC. I did my first one about four months ago to overcome a health problem - the doctors didn't really know what was going on  and to this day I don't really know what was wrong but after two weeks on the MC it was never a problem again! SO glad!! :) Fist time around I gained a lot of strength and support by 'stalking' the forums and reading about other peoples experiences. I thought I should probably contribute myself second time around.
I'm on day 3 and finding the SWF much easier this time around :) No major issues so far, everything is going well, not hungry, little tired, and few headaches but normal for the first few days!
Hope everyone else is going well!

Lynda/Otis - I've used the Smooth Move Chocolate the last two nights, but started with the Smooth Move Regular. Not sure which I like the least.:p There is one that Peter talked about in his book call Get Moving. They didn't have it at any store I've shopped at. Don't know what it taste like. Lin mentioned one made by or called Yogi something. That's the one she likes.

I've been heating up my SWF in the microwave too. Then I tell myself it Miso Soup. That's one of Lins tricks. Works for me. Although I cant wait to have the real thing.:)

MC2/Day5

Hello Juicers!

Day 5 here - better than yesterday. Had all sorts of misc aches and pains - physical and emotional yesterday. Today, not so much.

GOURD - Because I am spending so much time in the bathroom, and because I am interested in such things, I weighed myself both before and after drinking the SWF (but before any eliminations) - the quart of SWF weighed 3 pounds - so by my calculations if you were up 2 you are really down 1 :)

MICKEY69 - You were asking about a fairly intense exercise regime including substantial lifting. If you are reading this it sounded very much like what I did my last cleanse. I think you should go for it - you absolutely won't do yourself any damage - just be sensible and pay attention to your body. What I did was completely wipe myself out. Didn't stop me from doing the cleanse or my exercise routine, but I wasn't good for much else. Key thing is to make sure you drink plenty of lemonade around your workout - that is your fuel - do not skimp. The other key thing is that - as you see - there is tremendous variation in how people respond to the cleanse - you may be someone who has great energy - I wasn't. You won't know unless you try! Happy juicing, and happy lifting, too:D

MOMMIE - the BF % on those scales is not particularly meaningful. That part of the scale could be broken - as Res said - since it didn't change at all. Was the number different on subsequent weighings? The hydration level of your body heavily influences the BF reading. The number is more accurate at the end of the day assuming you are then fully hydrated rather than first thing in the morning when you are not. In any event, the number is really only useful as an indicator of movement in one direction or another - and only then if you can compare readings under similar circumstances hydration-wise. You shed a lot of gunk, your glycogen stores, water, fat, and some muscle. You lost a HUGE number of dress sizes - and I bet you felt GREAT! CONGRATS! Numbers on scales are really just numbers on scales ;)

One thing I noticed about the SWF today: I usually drink the whole thing down in a couple minutes. This morning I took longer because I was fixing some lemonade and stuff. It was really hard to finish the SW and I realized it was because I was feeling full - first time I've had difficulty getting it down. Just thought I'd throw it out there that IMHO - at least as regards the SWF - faster is better.

Think it's time for some plain old hot water - YUM! Big welcome to all Newbies - you can not imagine how wonderful you will feel after your cleanse!!

Today's been a little tough for me. Our 6 year old niece spent the night, then went to church with us this morning. My hubby promised her we'd go bowling, so we went right after church. I planned ahead and packed a small cooler with lemonade, but I froze it last night so it would stay cold. It didn't just stay cold, it stayed almost entirely frozen. Which meant I spent about 5 hours with little more than 8 oz of lemonade. I sucked down a bottled water at the bowling alley while they ate fat steak fries and patty melts. *sigh* I'm feeling better since we got home, but man that was tough. I really wanted a fry. My stomach was growling like a caged bear.

Looking forward to a better day tomorrow.

I can totally understand the temptation of being around friends and family. I've skipped two family dinners so far. You'll do better this time because you've recommitted. You can do it!

Do you have any recommendations on vegetarian-friendly places to eat there? The city we know pretty well as DH is a Tulane alumni. Thanks!

I probably should skip this event next Saturday. It's hard though because there is alays something going on every day of the week in New Orleans. I think I'll send my gift through a mutual friend because I know the food will be tempting. When we have events, it's more like a feast so I guess I'll have to pass.

Hello, Fellow Cleansers!
It's almost the end of day 4...so exciting to be actually doing this!! When I heard about this last year, I thought my son's father-in-law was nuts! And now I'm just as nutty:D

He let me finish his syrup (NOW brand). When it ran out, I bought some at Trader Joe's. I was so sad at the difference ... the new syrup seems watery by comparison to the Now brand. It feels like I'm drinking water...:(

Big question: The senna tea is waking me at 4 a.m. ( I drink it at 11pm)
Is that normal? Anyone else have that experience? I'm willing to put up with it for the next 6 days, tho. Can't wait until Day 10!

Thanks to Boots for the reassurance that it will be well worth it on Day 10!!

Happy cleansing everyone!!!

Middle of Day 1 and am feeling pretty good. I've had two glasses of lemonade so far (I got up pretty late today and didn't get my SWF in till about 12) and I just had a cup of peppermint tea, which is one of my favorite things in the universe so I'm happy it's included in the cleanse.About to go make another glass of lemonade. I am just looking forward to the end of the cleanse--not because I'm dreading it (okay, I am dreading at least 9 more SWFs), but because I'm looking forward to making healthy changes in my life . . . tonight I'm setting aside some time to plot out my first week of meals (post-OJ & veg soup) so I don't have to torture myself with thoughts of food on day 8 or 9, and I just signed up for the new york road runners club and enrolled in a beginner class that meets once a week, starting this week (because while I can take 3 dance classes back to back, I can barely run around the block without keeling over).

Lynda: Thanks for the advice about the syrup--I think you're right. I used the maple/palm blend today because I got started so late as it was, but am planning to get the pure maple for the duration of the cleanse.

Staek: Good luck sticking it out! You can do it (hey, if I can do it, anyone can LOL).

Newgigi: Hang in there! Food situations are certainly rough--during my last cleanse I went to a chili cookoff because I'd promised a friend I'd be there before starting the cleanse, and it was pretty torturous (maybe more so for the people who had to hear me moan about how good everything smelled than it was for me!)

Attia: Looking forward to seeing you on the boards this time around! I think reading and posting can help a lot. This is cleanse #2 for me as well, and this time around I'm determined to really turn it into a life change by eating much healthier . . .

Wayneman: I may try your suggestion of heating the SWF--anything that helps. I truly truly hate the SWF even more than I remembered . . . but then again I remember it got easier as the days went by last time, so I'm hoping that happens again.

:)

Hello, I'm on day 3 and have been sneezing a lot. I don't feel as good as I did yesterday, but I read in someone else's post that days 2-4 are the hardest. I've been vegan for a year and vegetarian for four before starting this cleanse; should I go for more than 10 days or should that be sufficient time to clean me out? I tried the SWF once-it was terrible and produced no results. Now I'm drinking Senna tea morning and night-it seems to be doing the trick. Is the SWF crucial or just a recommendation?

I was really surprised that the lemonade is GOOD. I look forward to it now ;) I really want to eat something, but not because I'm hungry...I just really like to eat. Congrats to everyone who is doing this, and thanks for all the support.

Okay, I'm doing fine and following the MC according to instructions. I have no problems with SWF at all today I've eliminated more than 6 times since drinking the SW and it's pretty much butt pee;) My question is I this isn't a weight loss plan HOWEVER, I haven't lost anything since starting which is mind boggling to me since I'm not eating and I'm working out. I'm 5-11, 188lbs and I ate raw foods 3 days prior to starting the cleanse. On the D1 I had 5 BM after the SWF which was all solids. I am eliminating everyday. Are there anymore Day 4er's that haven't seen any weight loss because others have lost 7 lbs already.............wow! are they larger people??? just wondering I have no intentions on stopping because I know this is for detox purpose :D

Can someone adivse me. I'm planning to start the Cleanse on January 19, and for the next two weeks am doing a coffee weaning and a raw food diet (with some brown rice and lentils thrown in). Will this help with the headaches when I start the cleanse? Also, I read Peter's book but am not sure how to what to eat after the ten days. Any and all advise will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tweety

I am on day 4 of my second cleanse. Today I wanted to eat so bad!!! I am being tough but it is difficult. I feel great and have no detox symptoms today. I have been freezing the last 3 days,
( Alaska in January go figure!) My weight loss has been incredible this time. I think from all the holiday junk food. I lost 8 pounds as of this morning! Hang in there everyone! The support of this board is great

Taut - that is interesting, but somehow not really surprising to me - LOL. In the process of my weight reduction journey (140 pounds over a couple years, and maintaining 3 years after that - pretty much) I've done a LOT of weighing and your hydration/water retention level is what changes most day to day. Are you drinking lots of extra water to help flush things out? Have you been working out? Do you have any sore muscles? I bet that one day soon you will see a mind boggling drop - but it may not even happen until you come off the cleanse and the SWF.

When I did my first cleanse I was doing it for "spring cleaning" and was at goal weight - I dropped 10 pounds from 113 to 103 (I'm little 5' 1/2" - that 1/2'" is important, too LOL) but a lot of bigger people lost less (I must have just been more full of c**p ;D)- I can't imagine your scale won't drop - once it's good and ready!

I'm seeking to post, with permission, for the first time; hope I'm in the right place :)

Spring of 2007 I did the MC for the first time. I was inspired by seeing four people die in 10 months - most older, one younger - and wanted to vote for my body. Not being a yo-yo dieter (did a bounce once decades ago losing weight quickly and gaining it back quickly) I was a bit nervous, but I did it anyway, and am glad I did. Sadly, I have gained back most of what I lost - the good news is I was not approaching it as a weight-loss plan, not to say the weight loss didn't please me - it truly did. I was very interested in cleaning up my body.

A friend helped me do the MC. I started it very suddenly, not wanting the inspiration to disappear. I gave away lots of white stuff and dairy to a neighbor and then gave away quite a bit of healthier food I'd just bought to this friend who helped me do the MC. She quietly told me I would probably meet people who would be important to me when I was on the cleanse - this was an afterthought.

Omigod (is that how you spell it?) Though I wrote a bit about the cleanse, it certainly wasn't daily. But I do remember feeling like synchronicity was at a high point in my life; certainly my intention to clean up was Really There and it makes sense to me that it would be. I met people who helped me slip into other, satisfying, work and also into a training program. I'm not sure what all I don't remember - but it was an amazing time and part of me was afraid to stop the flow by quitting. Because I didn't want to be afraid like that and, more, because of someone I respected telling me she had experience that told her that the MC could push someone (with a predisposition for this I'm thinking) into mania, I quit. But I was really glad I had done it. It was very, very powerful. I didn't jump into mania but could easily entertain that possibility. No need to expand on that I guess.

So, after 23 days (omigod), I quit. Carefully, but definitely going back to some habits I'd be better off without. I must say the cleanse was so amazingly easy. I don't remember being hungry ever - maybe not even at first. Also, I have hypoglycemia and could not grok why I felt great on the MC.... seems like the no-obvious-protein element should have stopped me in about 6 hours. I would drink the lemonade when I was hungry and I was satisfied.

I really hope this gets to the place to be reviewed and that it will be posted. Right now I would so much like to be in the head and heart space to be willing to do the MC - this time for 10-14 days - again. I did try it once since last spring but only lasted maybe a day and a half. My heart wasn't in it, I guess. Not for lack of lemons (I bought a lot). After the MC this time, I would like to move into a healthier way of eating - definitely away from addictive eating. I wonder if there are those who can really relate to me that might answer me. I don't always have access to a computer so may not answer post replies right away, but may get an internet hookup and make that easier. I am so glad to be actually on this site - I read Peter's book as well as The Master Cleanser.

Thank you for whomever reads this (:

SHEILA - welcome to the cleanse! The instructions on the tea say you will have results in 3 - 6 hours. I seem to have results in 3 & 6 hours LOL. There is no consistency to it I've found. Last night I had the tea early - at 8:30 and got up @ 1, @ 3:30, and at 7 - jeez. The one thing I do know, and I know I've said it before but it is important for Newbies :) if your dreams involve a bathroom - WAKE UP!

The other night I was having a long involved dream about playing basketball and I was just about to start a little one-on-one play with this very tall woman but I looked at her and said "I have to go," she smiled kindly at me and said "Bathroom?" I said "Yes" and woke up - fortunately.

Boots- Yes I work out, I ran 2 miles yesterday and I may do it tonight. I'm no stranger to exercise. Yes, I'm drinking 95 oz of water based on 1oz per 2lbs of my body weight. I do the SWF every morning, Smooth move prior to going to bed. I'm waiting for that "mind boggling" drop to happen :D

This is day 3 and all is going well. Less craving and no other things going on. I feel great and have plenty of energy! I return to my regular routine tomorrow, 5 mile run 1st thing in the morning, so I'll do the swf after that. I have not been drinking all the lemonade because it makes me so cold and I don't like drinking it warm. I have been drinking tea, which should be alright because I'm feeling wonderful.

im on day 2 of my 2nd cleanse. the first cleanse i stopped after 9 days because i felt no changes and saw no differences and didnt feel that one extra day would make a world of difference. im nearing the end of my 2nd day now and havent had any eliminations, except a few small ones after the SWF. i have been eating fairly well and have been in good health since my last cleanse, and im very frustrated with the lack of eliminations and detox symptons. im doing the cleanse in hopes it will be more effective this time and feeling lethargic all the time is wearing thin. all i feel is frustrated and defeated (which i realize could in itself be a detox symptom or circumstancial.) im hoping day 3 will be better but i just keep remembering my last cleanse and how similar this one is.
im following the instructions absolutely to the letter and dont know what else to do. any advice?

Hello,

Tanya - What is "pulling oil".

Boots - Thanks, it's good to know that I probably lost a pound rather than gained 2. I'll check again in the morning.

Taut - I'm at the end of day 4 and lost 5 lbs so far. I'm 5'5", weighed 144 when starting (female). Weigh in the morning before SW.

I'm a little bummed because I haven't had any reactions to toxins, nor any euphoric happy feelings. And my stomach is still pudgy, although I haven't remeasured yet. But having completed 4 days, there is no way I'll quit before 10. I'm committed!

Hi Everyone,

Work tomorrow... bummer. After having two weeks off it's hard to think of going in. :( It will be weird after staying away from food (except the tons of food I could get into here at home). My lunch hour won't really take an hour. What to do, what to do.

I'm not drinking enough water, even though water is my all time favorite drink. I'm just tired of drinking, period. I'm almost out of maple syrup. Hate to buy another bottle with only three days to go. I won't let it get fuzzy like Boots did though. I'll just have to whip up some pancakes. :)

I haven't been cold as much today as I was yesterday. I tried to take a nap yesterday and couldn't even get warm under the covers. I'll have to try and get back on the water wagon tomorrow. I'm doing okay on the detox, just a little back pain, and a big bunch of boredom. Oh and the lazies too. Haven't done much but record stuff off of my DVR onto DVDs.

This doesn't have anything to do with the MC, except for the fact that I could make a Pot to Poop in. ...but I signed up for a Pottery Wheel class in Feb. I haven't done that in 30+ years. It ought to be lots of fun.

Bye for now,

I plan on doing it for 20 days because I am definitely looking for a new start! I have two questions though. Can you chew sugarless gum during the cleanse? Can you add the maple syrup to your tea in the morining and at night? Good luck everyone;)

Day # 7

Day 7 has been mostly uneventful except that I've had a headache for about 20 min. and my sinuses are draining. This usually happens to me the first couple of days. Of course, I still have the "coldies" too.

I did the tea this morning instead of the SWF because I had to play the music (guitar) at Sunday school and I didn't want any problems! Sunday is the only day that I do the tea instead. Frankly,... I don't get that "cleaned out feeling" when I do the tea instead of the SWF, and never seem to feel as well.

WayneMan, the lax tea that I use is called Get Regular and the brand name is Yogi Tea. I hate the taste of senna. I can just tolerate the Get Regular tea better because the orange peel in the Smooth Move makes me break out in hives, plus for me, the Get Regular tastes slightly better (if that's possible.... it all tastes disgusting to me!). This is my 12th cleanse and I've never upchucked a SWF or the tea, but I've felt like it with the tea many times.

I also prefer to manually juice my lemons and limes. I have an old glass juicer bowl that was my Grandma's and it's problably as old as I am (50) and that's old!! :D I like having a little of the pulp in my drinks.
I have a juicer, but don't plan on pulling it out until I end my MC. I always break my cleanse with grapefruit juice and well.... I can't manually juice them because they're too big. I don't do much juicing anymore. I have a Vita-Mix blender and I prefer to blend the entire fruit or veggie into juice and consume it, complete with all of the fiber.

Welcome to everyone just starting.
Hope everybody sleeps well tonight! :)

I do the manual juicing too, even tho I have one of those big JackLalane juicers. I just use a standard wooden reamer. I figure doing it that way (I make 60 oz at a time) has to burn some extra calories, right?

Hello all you lemonheads, I was reading the logs an some where talking about Microwaves, I just wanted to add, I don't know if some of you don't know this, but don't put food in plastic containers in the Microwave, the chemical dioxin leaches out which is very toxic and causes cancer especially breast cancer, also don't freeze your water bottles with water in them the same thing leaches out from the plastic. don't put cup of noodles in Mic. either same thing. thats all, doing good today, feeling great, well talk to you all tommarrow. deb

Hi everyone! WOW there are so many comments to read since this morning when I posted. It's exciting doing this cleanse with you all. I just ordered my Probiotics today to have them when I finish. My goal this time (MC8) is for 20 days. Someone had written that "their mind was made up" to do the cleanse and I think that is definitely it --- mind over matter and having a vision and goal to reach before you start -- it really helps when you feel like wavering. I am fortunate to have just moved to a house where there is a lemon tree overflowing with lemons. When I did the MC in Mexico they didn't have lemons there so I used limes which was also a nice change. Just wondering if folks use spearmint tea or peppermint tea as the detox tea at night??? I have both now and have been sick in bed with a cold since I started the cleanse so haven;t gone out to look for a detox tea. They didn't have any in Vons when I looked before I started the cleanse. In Okinawa I had a Yogi Detox tea I used that tasted really nice. Let me know about the tea though. Thanks!! Happy cleansing!!

Hey everyone! So I had planned to start on the 2nd but only made it half a day before I caved and had Indian food and wine!!! I know, I know!!! But made it through day one today! I am quitting smoking and drinking this year, hopefully forever so I am crossing my fingers I can make it. All good so far though. The SWF didn't work the first day I tried but this morning I had that butt pee everyone is talking about!! Yay! I am getting a bit hungry now but I will have some more water and lemonade before i have my tea.

I have a question though. I have been using tap water since I know our water is very good and unfloridated. Is this okay? And for 32 ounces of water I am adding 8 tablespoons of lemon juice, and 8 tablespoons of maple syrup. This is what the book says but I have heard a lot of different things. Oh and i added 3 big pinches of the cayenne.:D

I am finishing up Day 1 of my second MC. It was a little rough, as I didn's start the day out right. I had my tea (couldn't do SWF, as we were heading out the door to church) but didn't have my first lemonade until after 12:00, then I had a nap and it was 4:30 before I had my second drink. I have been hungry all evening, despite having 4 lemonades since 4:30. I have just finished my tea and am heading off to bed. I hope tomorrow goes better.

Is there anyone else at there with young kids? I am a (mostly) stay-at-home mom and one of the hardest parts of the cleanse is the need to prepare food for my kids and to try to keep my patience with them.

So good to hear you all talking about being cold! On all of my cleanses I have been soooo cold - even when I did it in the summer. Does anyone know why you feel so cold?

Day 2 no too bad though had a major headache all day even after excercising. So this afternoon I went and got a massage and then took a nice warm bath and like majic the headache is gone. :)

And I have been trying to get over a head cold since Christmas and this evening I feel so much better - don't know if the cleanse helped there but I am glad regardless!

Good luck everyone - who ever said it was right it is mind over matter!!

Hello,

I am a newbie and have tried to start the MC but can't seem to stick to it. For the past 3 days, I have had 2 glasses of the lemonade first thing each morning, but by the afternoon I get hungry and eat normally the rest of the day. At night, I drink the laxative tea. Will it benefit me at all to continue this practice, or am I just wasting my time? I have never fasted before and although I've read "Lose Weight, Have More Energy.....", I just can't get past the hunger.

Hi...just reporting in real quick before going to bed. Still cleansing away....pretty uneventful day, aside from some serious house cleaning....basically reorganizing my closets and throwing out lots of junk.

Thanks WayneMan for the compliment on my long story. Congrats on wrapping up Day 7. See you're almost at the end of your journey.

Welcome everyone that's starting today...the board's been quite busy. Posts coming fast and furious. Keep it up...fellow cleansers!!!! :D

MC1D6 I can't believe that tomorrow will be Day 7 for me! I have felt absolutely fantastic since starting the cleanse. There were a few headaches at night in the first couple of days, but I honestly do not think I've ever felt better than I have on this cleanse.

I read on these forums that Day 7 is the worst, so I am a teeny bit nervous about tomorrow. But I also heard that days 2-4 would be bad, and I really haven't felt that bad at all. Hopefully that will be the case for my Day 7 as well.

I can't wait until I can eat some vegetable soup. It sounds soooo good to me right now. Junk food sounds disgusting, and I have absolutely no desire to drink any alcohol. I used to drink wine on a regular basis, and it's really weird for me to not have any cravings for alcohol. I also used to drink TONS of coffee, and I don't miss it one bit. I actually have more energy without it.

It was hard for me to consume the minimum 6 servings today because I wasn't all that hungry. When I started the cleanse, I was drinking 8-9 servings with more syrup (the recommended amount...I am actually using less syrup now).

I have also noticed portions of my tongue turning pink. I was planning on stopping after Day 10, but now I think I might do it until my tongue turns fully pink. This whole thing is so strange and fascinating.

I a 37 year old male starting my 5th cleanse tomorrow 1/5/09. I'm about to have my Smooth Move laxitive tea. I hate that stuff. I don't like the licorice taste I think, but I can handle anything for 10 days. I don't really have a problem with the SWF, it's just annoying at work. I make my lemonade like this (I believe it all follows the rules)

8 oz. Ozarka Water
1 tbsp Lemon juice
1 tbsp Lime Juice (I prefer the lemon/lime mixture, less boring tasting)
1 tbsp Maple Grove Farms Grade A Maple Syrup (grade B is about 5 times as expensive in the Health Food store, so I just use Grade A from Wal-Mart since it is allowed in Burroughs book, I also half the recommended 2 tbsp as I prefer the less sweet taste, and less calories)
1/2 tsp Cayenne (quite a bit more than the recipe calls for but they say the more, the better)

I also don't use any tap water during the cleanse even though we have pretty good water. I use the Ozarka water for both the Smooth Move and the SWF as well.

In all my cleanses, I have typically lost about 1.5 pounds per day only regaining about 5 pounds back each time, which is acceptable to me as I've lost and kept off a total of about 30 pounds from my highest weight of 216. I still have very high cholesterol (about 250, down from 280), so I'm trying to lost about 15 more pounds to around 170 and see if my cholesterol will lower even more. I just don't want to be on statins at my age.

I just tell you all this to hold myself accountable for the next 10 days and hopefully share progress and encouragement to you over the next 10 days. Good luck to all of you who are on this journey with me.

Oh yeah, the tea I'm using is called Slim Tea. It was the only laxative tea I could find in the store. It said Senna Tea on the side of it, so I figured it would be okay. It's actually really tasty without any sweetener added. Seems to be doing what it's supposed to. I wish it took just a little bit longer to kick in though.

sunnyrae,

please tell me about the raw blue agave nectar. is it something you subsitute for the MS? do you use it with the limes? do tell!!!!
swashi

i am substituting it for the MS for now. i got some maple syrup too, but the -raw blue agave nectar- has such a great taste i might just brave the store for more of that when i run low. i read on the boards and in peters book (maybe Res can confirm!) agave is a good sub for the ms and i got the blue agave because it is darker and i figured as with maple syrup the darker might have a better mineral content.

also, limes are an acceptable substitute to lemons:D so you can switch it up a little! (within the limits of the cleanse of course)

also, i have been reading some significant variation on the boards from the prescribed cleanse. be careful!
each element to the cleanse is as important as another. it all has purpose.

remember -
all suffering is temporary.

MC6, end of Day 4 ;-)

Newbies - don't give up! Remember that the first few days are the hardest - will admit that during day 2 I thought (briefly) about waiting and starting over another day - not because I was hungry or anything, but just because I was bored and in the kitchen all day fixing food for my family. But - I have explained to kiddos that I am detoxing to stay healthy (and that it is certainly not appropriate for a 7 or 9yo), and so I set a nice dinner on the table and excuse myself fairly often. They're pretty used to it.

Must admit that I am indulging in teas (decaffeinated, herbal etc...) during the day - good news is that for the first time in 6 cleanses I have not had the headaches. Still a bit dizzy. The one thing that is driving me bananas is the "coldies" (it seems to have a proper term here now? lol!) We were at a museum with an infrared camera and I was literally blue next to my burning red family. All I can think is to dress warmly and keep moving!

Re: weightloss - I have kept detailed history of the past 5 cleanses and its been great to refer to - I will say that when I started lighter (my start weights have ranged from 148# to 161# on a large 5 8" frame) the weight loss was less. So if you are already at a very healthy weight for your frame, don't expect to see the scale drop as much - the detox is totally worth it anyway!

I will tell you guys that when I detox a few times a year I do NOT get sick - hubby, kiddos dropping with the flu and I am unscathed. I didn't detox in 2008 and voila - was down with the crud for 2 weeks solid *ugh* so for me, completely aside from how great I feel in my clothes for awhile, the health benefits are well worth it ;-)

Good luck everyone!

Hello All,
I am new to this board.

I am on Day 1 of the MC after having done 3 days of ease in. Today was pretty hard actually,
I have had a headache all day and felt pretty sluggish. It took me some time this morning to chug down the SWF...:( But I finally managed. I drank about 42oz today of Lemonade, a couple cups of herbal tea, plus smooth tea this evening.

I have a Lemon tree in my yard and have been using the lemons. However, I read in the "Complete MC" that Meyer Lemons are not good for the MC. Is this true???

I've been going #1 a lot only a little #2- though I am not surprised about this, since i normally am pretty clogged up..

I'm hopping tomorrow will be more productive and I will feel more energetic..

Thanks.

Hi everyone:
Thanks for sharing. I started the MC because I started to crave foods that I
don't usually eat, like bread, cookies, peanut butter. I have been a vegetarian
for 35 years and vegan for 10 years! It was probably emotional eating.
Food can be so addicting. I wanted to gain
some control and lose the desire to overeat. This is Day 2 or the MC and I have
followed everything the book prescribes. I feel OK. I experienced
some cramping in my stomach last night but it went away.
Tonight is the first time I started to crave something, an apple, a winesap
apple, but I did not give in to my temptation. Your support here and
encouragement was inspiring. I hope I inspire others to stay on track
and challenge them through this process. 8 days to go! Please send me
your positive thoughts! I will be wishing you the same!
Good night y'all. :)

Day 5!

I am at work right now, feeling a slight headache come on.
I hope it goes away, I still have 4 hours to go.
I drank six glasses of LA yesterday, but did not get all of my water down by midnight.
Going to drink my tea right now.
Everything else is going great.
Not having any other detox symptoms.

Otis: Welcome back! I remember you did the cleanse with a few of your coworkers, how did everyone end up doing?

lactationlady: I have two small children also ( a 5 year old and a 3 year old). I just tell myself that it is mind over matter. And I know that I will eat again eventually. When I cook, it helps to have my LA close by, so that when I get the urge to eat, I can just take a sip. I also think of how sick I might get if I were to eat the food after not eating for so many days and that helps me to say no.

Res: I finally watched Supersize me, and it was truly an eye opener. My husband is a fast food addict, and it even has him wanting to change his eating habits.

Keep up the good work everyone, and don't give up!

Thanks. mychel53, it may say that in the book but I believe folks have used Meyer Lemons on the cleanse. So you should be okay. In fact I can think of a couple posters that would be truly jealous that you have such lemons readily available without paying the high prices that Meyer Lemons normally cost.

I will tell you guys that when I detox a few times a year I do NOT get sick - hubby, kiddos dropping with the flu and I am unscathed. I didn't detox in 2008 and voila - was down with the crud for 2 weeks solid *ugh* so for me, completely aside from how great I feel in my clothes for awhile, the health benefits are well worth it ;-) Jeannie, I've noticed that same effect too..my not getting as sick while on the cleanse. It's definitely a good feeling.

I just got back from the store and bought the organic Smooth Move Senna herbal Stimulant Laxative. The packet says that it shouldn't be used for longer than a week. SO should I go back to using Peppermint tea after a week?? . You can continue to use the Smooth Move Senna, Honey. The warning is there if you're using it while eating but since you're not eating on this cleanse, it doesn't apply. I've used Smooth Move for 10 days for each of my cleanses. Well except for MC3, which I ended after 8 Days. SO cleanse on.

Speaking of cleansing, I'm done with the SWF and had to run to the toilet between typing this message. I get to work from home today, which is good. Maybe I'll clean house some more.

First I would like to say... CONGRATS to everyone that started Januaury out with a cleanse!

As for me, I am on Day 29!!! 1 more day and I start my OJ baby!!! I have been a litte tired this weekend, but then again, all last week I didn't get much sleep because I had so much energy, so maybe it just caught up to me. I am well rested now though, and excited that classes have started back, for me and the kids ;)

Weigh in is not until Wednesday, which will be the day I start my OJ. Well I have a busy day...

Good Luck Everyone...

ok folks, this is my 9th year of doing the cleanse and I have to say I have found nothing better than this technique for detoxification. I have added the liver flush that includes olive oil and grapefruit juice which I found to be incredible. I do this the 11th day of my cleanse.

I went to a nutritionist this year and have a very defined plan for getting into good eating habits once I have finished the cleanse, the hardest part for me. Usually, I make it one day after the cleanse then fall apart.

I wish everyone the best of luck and want to say that ten days will come and go and the cleanse is just a chore that you need to to do to stay healthy. Once your done you will reap all the benefits.

Today is the start of day 8 for me and for the first time since I started, I have a slight headache. It's the first real detox symptom I've had, other than being cold. I'm down 8.6 pounds and fairly disappointed in that number. I thought I'd have lost more by now. I know this isn't a diet, but the weight loss is a good portion of why I'm doing this. I'm 5'9" and started this MC at 185, which is one pound away from my heaviest weight. I've been exercising in some form every day except yesterday which was my rest day. Anyway, I'm going to try upping my water intake today (because I'm not peeing enough now...lol) and see if that helps.

Have a good day, y'all!

Hi all, I am on my 5th day of my first cleanse! So far so good. The 2nd day was the hardest for me. I ended up going to bed with a headache but I prayed. First to thank God for all my blessings and then I asked him to take this pain away. I am not kidding when I say that no sooner than the words came out of my mouth the pain was gone!!! God is good and he honors us when we take care of the gift he gave us! I have heard that during the detox it's a good time to get close to Him. I feel blessed. I'd be interested in hearing anyone elses spiritual experiences if you care to share.:) I'll check in later. Stay strong and know that you are doing a good thing for yourself!

Ok,

Here I am on my first day,
Actually I was going to start on the 3rd of January started with a preview but decided to wait till my lifestyle was back in Normal motion as the Holidays come to an end.

I was at a neighbor's house on January 1st and heard about this Detoxification Diet and I figured I need it.

I have lost a total of 52 lbs. going to the Nutritionist
but I believe that my Metabolism needs a Boost and it is the reason that I began the Master Cleanse Diet

I have a lot of willpower and I hope I can endure the 10 days of this cleansing process.

I heard that there are some foods that you are allowed to eat but dont know of them yet.

Does anyone know?

How to make this 10 days more do-able?

Thanks
Marisol

Hi kpainter, I don't know how much weight you feel you need to lose but I know that the less you have to lose the slower it will come off. I am also doing this mostly for the weight loss but I am trying to focus on how much better I feel! This christmas was brutal for me! I ate everything in sight and it shows! Not only that but I felt terrible all the time. Since I started the cleanse I feel more energetic and happier than I have in along time. I hope you are experiencing something similar. It may help to just focus on that and the weight will take care of itself. Hang in there!

Marisol: Absolutely no food. There are other message boards that do support using other foods but they veer from the Master Cleanse by Stanley Burroughs. We follow Burroughs and Peter's books to the T. ;)

Welcome Aboard! :)

Alex: I'm fascinated by the liver flush but abhor throwing up. I've never done the flush. I think we have a thread here but I'd like to hear your experience with it.

Welcome Aboard! :)

Love,

Alex Hi Alex, I was curious about the particular liver flush that you do. Is it a 2-day process and what's involved? Thanks.

Gourd4me I had that same thought today when I was driving around town, I thought were do the people with no fat on them keep there toxins, that is somthing to think about, I know where I keep mine,

Everybody has millions of fat cells. It's just that for some there are millions more fat cells and therefore it is more obvious where those cells are. The super thin endurance athletes are able to run and ride longer by burning fat in their bodies.... not just carbohydrates. The body tries to protect itself by encasing the toxins in the fat. It also stores the extra energy consumed (as fat) for when it is needed. It's kind of a shame that the body doesn't have a limit which when once we get over the limit of needed storage it just sloughs off the excess. I guess reason, logic and self-control are supposed to be that limiter. :(

Marisol: Sometimes it's best not to tell. ;) The negativity can be really annoying when you're doing something so wonderful for yourself. When you stick with it, family & friends will *see* the changes in you and change their minds. :)

MC7 - Day 2 (inching one step closer to end goal)
Thanks Meedis for the encouragement. the board is a help. Wow! there are so many posts it's hard to keep up. :) But it is good to hear how well others re doing.

Hi kpainter, I don't know how much weight you feel you need to lose but I know that the less you have to lose the slower it will come off.

Well, having started this at 185 and now being 176.4, I do feel better, but my ultimate goal weight is in the 140's, which is where I was when I got married. I don't plan on doing that by MC alone tho - I plan on adding a lot of raw food into my diet and trying to keep vegetarian for the rest. Perhaps some fish, we'll see. With diet and exercise I got into the high 150's last year, but I feel off the wagon and started eating crap again.

I also plan on doing another MC in about four months.

I am finishing mine up now and going to sleep. Starting my 4th day tomorrow. Keeping warm next to my heater. Good night fellow cleansers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can use the smooth move teas throughout the cleanse- they're not as intense as a laxative. Chocolate is good if you like chocolate.

Question: Where does your body get protein during this fast? Doesn't our bodies need protein everyday? I don't want to lose muscle.

Most of the protein for making new cells comes from old cells. As old cells die (millions do everyday) the body uses that material to make new cells. Although while on the MC we aren't getting new protein intake you shouldn't lose much muscle mass in just 10 days. There is plenty of other stuff in the body to use for energy (sugar and fat are the easiest to convert and are preferred targets over protein) and the maple syrup adds energy too. It is a fast, a detox and not a weight loss diet. The general idea of the MC is a tune up of the body and the digestive system in particular. The digestive system scours the body for crud (expendable items) So it's really more of a cleanse and although it isn't really a diet, one does lose weight too.

I started my MC off with a cold, hope that your sore throat is from the MC and not a real cold or flu.

KPPainter- I know... I am freezing too. ...and I'm not just hungry but I keep thinking man hot food would help me warm up.

I think being COLD is one of the worst things about the MC.... well the SWF isn't any fun either :) Keeping active, doing something aerobic that keeps the blood flowing helps. I usually work up a good sweat which also probably helps with the detox. I've wondered about trying to do something just below the sweat stage that would help build body heat. I've found that wearing a baseball cap or ski cap helps keep some of the body heat in. Some women can even make them look stylish. You're doing great on the cleanse. I've enjoyed your posts.

good morning everyone, day 3 for me, doing good, feeling good, woke up a around 4am and had to use the bathroom, very loose bm then got up at around 7 little more loose bm. I'm starting to do PULLING with oil, I use to do this and thought this would go with this detox, because it to is a detox, you don't eat the oil, you just swish in the mouth and spit out, for information on this, Dr Karach has a really good site, type in pulling, then scroll down to the site that reads ( Oil pulling wonderful therapy) you'll find this site very interesting. Well its time for the sw kind of put it off, but time to sit in the bathroom and wait. ttu all later, Good luck to all those just starting, just take one day at a time, I'm finding it so worth it, I'm feeling really good now, I know it might get worse as toxins are being released, so hang in there.
