End of Day 3 for me. I am sooooo proud of myself. Let me tell you why.
I love to cook, and one of the most family favorite in our house is my homemade Tamales. My son ask me if I can make them this week, so I went to the store this morning and purchased the stuff I need.
I love tamales.....I made over 100 of them without taking a bite. I made the fillings and waited for my son to get home and asked him to taste it, to make sure the seasoning is ok.
I just had my Senna Tea, and feeling good about myself. The Tamales smelled soooo good, but I kept my cool. I don't even feel hunger, which is a miracle for me.
THE BEST PART OF IT ALL!!!! I HAVE LOST "9" POUNDS SINCE I STARTED THE MASTER CLEANSE :D
I walk my dogs every morning, and work on my vegetable garden all day for the last 3 days. I do feel happy and have more energy than ever before.
Keep up the good work, you guys. Stick to it and don't give up.
I was reading one post about the price of the Maple Syrup. I found an organic, grade B MS from Henry's and I paid $14.00  Shopped around with my husband and found the same 12.5 ounces bottle for only $7.00 at WINCO. Try to shop at wholesale/bulk places like Costco or Winco. You can also buy On-Line, I just bought 2 12.5 ounces to last me until my shipment gets here.
Good Luck to everyone. God Bless.:)

Well, I finished day 1, and I have to say.. it was sooo hard!!!
I don't think I was as mentally prepared for this as I was the last(first) cleanse. I was just dieing to break it and had a tough time battling it out. It really does go to show just how mental most of it really is.
:(
But about the maple syrup, I bought some at Trader Joe's today for $14 bucks, and it's 25 fl oz. I think it may seem like alot of syrup but that way I can store it away for the next time I do a cleanse, which'll probably be in the summertime.
I'm praying I can hold through this cleanse. I'm afraid that with this unreadied mindset that i'm going to binge like crazy when I get off. I told myself that if I step on the scale that the weight drop will be a motivating factor but found that nothing had changed from this morning. I know that's not the right thing to do, but the last time I did it I saw results right away. Hmm.
Part of me is trying to convince myself that maybe I oughta try back in a week or two when i'm more ready for this. Blah!

Hi Chubby Bunny, just hang in there my friend. You were right about being mentally prepared before doing the cleanse, that is why I set a goal for myself, that I will lose weight and stay healthy. I also have a lot of support from family, especially my husband. Keep in mind that doing the cleansing is just temporary, but will give you a long term benefits. Make a list of what you would like to accomplish while doing the cleanse as well as things you're willing to give up. Remember, you're doing this for yourself.
When I say temporary, I meant doing the cleanse for just 10 days, or more if you prefer. BUT, you also need to teach yourself to make changes on your eating habits after the cleanse.
I also find this site helpful and educational. I read the postings and it helps and motivates me a lot. I make this like it's my diary. I type in a post by the end of each day, and spend at least an hour reading other peoples posts.
Good luck to you. You can do it, we're here to help.

Chubby Bunny, This is my 2mc and i was really having a hard time since day 1...I was sure I wanted to do it, but I was even starting to think of breaking it the 3 day...Im on my 5 day and theres a lot of thoughts that motivate me to keep on doing it:
- detox, weightloss, self-confidence...and quit smoking most importantly. I have quit smoking 3 times before but ever since it has been harder and harder... I think WILL is like a muscle that you have to exercise to make it stronger! So I hope you get motivated to keep on. But if youre not sure of doing it, stop , (youll feel more frustrated if you quit in the middle) read the books again and build up the confidence to do it! Good luck!

Hey Sesso-
Thanks for the response. After my swf yesterday, things definitely got moving. I guess it just took a little for my body to start reacting.
I think even if I can not have frozen lemonade now, I might make some Popsicles out of it for after I am off the cleanse. That seems like it would be yummy to me!!
I am off and running on day 3 and have yet to have any terrible detox symptoms. I am however down 2 kg, which was a happy surprise this morning.
Keep on pushing lemonheads!!!

Friends-
Today is our Day 6. Woohoo for it being all down-hill from here!
But we forgot to update you from yesterday, Day 5! Here are some highlights from yesterday--we will check back in later today for a re-cap of Day 6 activities:
* SWF continues to be no problem. A drinks his out of a bowl like soup. The other A drinks hers out of two pint glasses. She rocks!
* A swore he smelled garlic bread on the dog-walk in the morning. Who would cook garlic bread at 9am? Turns out, this phantom smell would signal many cravings for A's future. The whole afternoon was spent in craving mode--a fairly tough mental day.
*We enjoyed some home-grown lemons that our friend brought back to WI from Berkeley. They were tasty!
*Walked a labyrinth in the evening to reflect on where we are, how far we've come, and what we've got left to do. Very introspective and a good check-in point personally.
To chubbybunny: you can do it! Thanks for being open and honest on the forum about your doubts. I hope you summon your own strength and use the next 10 days as a personal growing experience.
To everyone else--keep up the good work! If it feels more like a "slow" than a "fast", we are here to help!

Hello,
I am on Day 7 and have lost 7 lbs while on this cleanse. I followed everything quite well till Day 5. On Day 6 I got really tired of the lemonade so I barely drank any of it during the day. Here are my results:
Day 1: Pre cleanse (drank almond milk all day - from Trader Joe's/Whole Foods)
Day 2: Lemonade only - I felt energized and eliminated everything from salt water wash
Day 3: Salt water wash in the morning, lemonade throughout day, started craving for solid food, lax tea eve
Day 4: Laxative tea in the morn, probably 4 glasses of lemonade, really hungry and craving for food, lax tea eve. Today I had less energy and feeling very weak in general. Did salt wash around 5pm in the evening for elimination.
Day 5: Woke up very weak today. Laxative tea in the morn, about 4-5 glasses of lemonade. Very hungry throughout the day and severe craving for solid foods. Tea in the eve.
Day 6: Felt better today but still craving for solids. Did salt wash in the morning, yuck. Had only 1 glass of lemonade today. Felt very disgusted with the lemonade ( I put less Cayenne pepper in this time because its too yucky. I really don't like the taste and find it too spicy to be mixed in with a sweet drink). At night around 9pm, I was so severely hungry and had about half a cup of almond milk (=) yum) to curb the hunger which worked. Then laxative tea in the evening.
Day 7: Today - woke up feeling good. Hungry and craving for solid food still. What is my problem here??
Also, was it ok that I took a little bit of almond milk on day 6? I have been eliminating well I think though it was diarrhea most of the time. I also lost 7 lbs which is great!! but there is still visceral fat around my belly but I'm definitely thinner.
Pls advise. Thanks

I made it to day 10 somehow! This is my last day and I am very excited. I am so proud of myself for coming so far and I am determined to eat more healthy after this. I lost a total of 8 pounds and I have a lot more energy than I used to.
Everyone try to keep up your spirit and learn to reward yourself with things that aren't food related. If you just try to get through each day instead of 10 it really helps!

I'm on Day 7 but for the last 3 days I've had SEVERE cravings for solid foods. I'm sick of the lemonade and I can't stand the cayenne pepper taste. I did lose 7 lbs so far so I'm happy and want to continue with this cleanse. I had one glass of lemonade yesterday only so I was extremely tired and hungry throughout the day. Around 9pm I had half a cup of almond milk to curb the hunger. It worked. Is this okay?

Nope, it's not. The way to curb hunger on the cleanse is to drink more lemonade. You must drink a minimum of 6 lemonades a day, so of course it's no surprise that you were hungry if you only had one! The craving for solid food is most likely just another detox symptom. If you give in, you simply move that symptom to another time, another cleanse, and lose an opportunity.
You should consider your cleanse ended with that almond milk. You could always pick yourself up and start over immediately and add a few days at the end, but I think it would be better to go ahead and transition yourself off, wait a few months, and then start again (if you want). The good part is that now you know what to expect and what challenges you're likely to encounter. Before you start another cleanse, you can take the time to make a strong mental commitment (90% of a successful cleanse is mental commitment) so that you can go the whole 10 days.
Congratulatons on making it to day 7. Lots of people don't do that. :)

Day 10!!!..I made it to my 1st goal. I think I've decided to do the 14 days......I"m gonna take it one extra day at a time. Although I've reached my goal, I haven't reached my weight goal. I've been running a lot and slowly losing a pound here and there....so at lease it's consistent. My smooth move nite tea has started working again. In my last three cleanse for some reason the tea will not work for a few days BUT the SWF will....weird. Anyways, so I'm happy about that. I eliminate more off the tea than the SWF. I have been pretty tired and I've been sleeping REALLY hard.....like a brick! My skin has broken out a lil but it def. looks more glowy (so my BF says) in general. I've lost around 10pds and need to lose just another 5 pds to reach my goal.....we'll see. I've also been experiencing the good old MC chills......always seeming to be cold. Anyways, I think that's it for today. Hope you all enjoy your weekend and STAY STRONG!!!!!

Thank you! You are very right. My support isn't quite as strong, everyone is always discouraging me. Even my boyfriend was like "Eh, why don't you just try back in a couple of weeks? Let's eat!" Soo.. maybe that's why I wasn't holding up quite as well. He's like the devil on my shoulder.
Chubby Bunny, This is my 2mc and i was really having a hard time since day 1...I was sure I wanted to do it, but I was even starting to think of breaking it the 3 day...Im on my 5 day and theres a lot of thoughts that motivate me to keep on doing it:

Thank you Jsafi, that's really good advice too. I liked your quote about the will being a muscle! I definitely need that workout. I'm really glad to hear comments like these because it does help me realize just how everyone else struggles too. There's alot of mental re-wiring I need to work on and the cleanse really does open your eyes about it all.
And to a&a- I'm feeling alot better today, so.. I think I will have good things to report from here on! I'm really thankful for the support i'm getting here. That's why this had to be my first stop of the day to get going. :o
Hope everyone has a beautiful Saturday! I'll report on any added stuff tonight.

Hi,
I am on day 4 and am concerned as I am having a lot of stomach and elimination burning. Feels a little like I have an excess of bile in my stomach and its getting worse throughout the day. I have not strayed from the program at all and even have managed the SWF despite the difficulties I have with the taste. Any advice on dealing with all this acid?

Okay, bad update here..
Well, I just thought I would briefly share but, in the past 3 weeks I was dealing with relationship issues. It was a pretty messy breakup that was briefly patched, that kinda backfired, so.. I think that's why mentally I wasn't as prepared this time. We just split up again and with the bad emotional drainage, I don't think I have what it takes to deal with the cleanse just yet.
So forgive me all. I am going to try back in two weeks when I am more mentally prepared. This doesn't mean I'm going to go dive into a gallon of ice cream or anything, because in the nearly two days i've done the cleanse, the only thing I want to eat is healthy foods. This will probably be the better transition for me.
I was almost going to just.. hide out and not bother posting anything out of embarrassment, but I know you guys were rooting for me, I will be back here in about two weeks, I promise. Thanks to you all for being so sweet and understanding. Now if you'll excuse me, it's time to check into the heartbreak hotel!

Ok, I'm on day 7 and I'm getting bored with the cleanse too. I really want to eat a hot solid meal. I'm getting tired of the way the lemonade tastes and I just really want to taste something different. I've lost about 7 pounds so far and I'm not near my weight loss goal of losing about 20 pounds total. I don't see any progress so I'm getting bored. I won't quit cuz I'm not throwing all the hard work of the last 7 days away, but I'm just aggravated with my lack of results so far...

End of Day 4, lost 10 pounds so far.
Today was a little different and difficult. I had severe cravings all day, felt a little bored with the cleanse. I was able to drink the SWF this morning but had a hard time finishing the minimum 6 servings of lemonade. I was feeling weak, and irritated. I got closed to quitting, so I went out in the backyard and did some gardening. I hope tomorrow will be better.
I'm not giving up on this, I've made it this far and I will do my very best to stick with it.

Hello everyone, Beginning of Day 6 for me! Yah, I'm over half way!!! :)
A few updates since I haven't written in a few days:
Day 4 was okay. Went to the health food store to stock up on some more organic lemons and maple syrup. I think I bought the wrong kind of lemons (Meyer lemons, which I read later are a cross between a lemon and a tangerine and don't have the same chemical action as true lemons). I had been using Canada #1 medium MS which isn't quite dark enough. Found some #3 in bulk at the health food store. It sure changed the taste of the lemonade! More minerals in it and it seemed less sweet.
Day 5 was pretty good too. I had a massage on Day 4 and was wondering if my detox symptoms would be worse on day 5 (remembering sojo's post). I didn't notice much difference. Lots of cramping from the senna tea in the am. Lasted into the early afternoon and I couldn't stray too far from the toilet. :( I think I like the SWF way better. Can't stand the salty taste, but I like the effects better.
The evenings are the hardest for me. Day 4 my BF and I were babysitting and he ate dinner at home, then more dinner at the little girl's house since his friend had made a yummy sounding dinner, then he made and ate popcorn in front of me. Grrrrrr! Last night was no better. Makes my resolve very tenuous. Last night I was running out of MS. Already... can't believe how much we go through. I was having thoughts of quitting the cleanse since I didn't have enough to last through today. Had to get up super early to make a run to Safeway for more (and it is super expensive there and only Grade #1 medium).
Each time I have thoughts of quitting in the evening they are gone by morning and I feel more positive about finishing the cleanse. Wish I could send these feelings out to all of you!! :)
Utravelstat: I'm so jealous that you are gardening! Woke this morning to 8" of fresh snow!! What a way to start spring. Had to get my BF to drive me to work in his 4X4. Hope my clients show up!!
chubbybunny: sorry to hear you have been having trouble. we'll continue to root for you when you are ready to try the MC again.
rowaneden: according to what I have read, even though the lemon juice is acidic it supposed creates and alkaline environment in the body. which is why it is so great for the cleanse. how much cayenne have you been using? and how hot is your cayenne? perhaps the cayenne you bought is hotter than average and you need to back off a touch?? hope you are feeling better soon.
helliebee: Congrats!!! :) We're happy for you and I find it inspiring to read that others have made it to day 10. It helps keep me going.

Hi.
I want to start the MC, but I'm concerned. When I am hungry, I tend towards sharp abdominal pains that can be so bad they can double me over. Has anyone else experienced this?
Also, I am also very slight already - five feet three inches and 110 lbs. Will I end up looking anorexic and wasted away by the end of 10 days?
Advice would be welcomed.

Hello everyone-
Today is our Day 7. We expected this day to be a toughie, but it turns out it is very much the same as every other day. (Same goes for Day 2 and 3, which we read could be difficult in the de-tox department). For reasons unbeknownst to us, everyday is just about the same as far as cravings and irritability goes--there are some of the former, but not much of the latter.
Here are some highlights from the past two days:
*Senna Tea (anyone ever call this Tenna See by accident?) continues to provide increasing levels of cramps the longer we go. We've trimmed down on the amount and the steeping time in turn. The SWF continues to provide "relief", if you want to call it that.
*We had fun planning out our first meals for later this week, when we finish the cleanse. That Veggie Soup Broth is going to be amazing! We went to the store today to stock up on lemons and water.
*Cravings seem to be salty in nature--sweets don't seem to enter the picture. The exception that proves that rule is brownies. Brownies!
*We are each down about 5 pounds. We aren't doing this to lose weight, but we've been checking in to keep tabs on ourselves.
Question: is there any harm in having extra or too much cayenne pepper? We've both been adding much more than the suggested amount. We've put a major dent in the previously full bottle of cayenne--we've finished off over half of it!
Keep up all the good work everyone-

On day 7, I couldn't take it anymore. I binged on mozza sticks and hot pepper sauce which was delicious, then ate potato chips and chocolate. Then I waited an hour and did a full salt water flush. It took out most of the stuff which I'm glad. I'd like to pick myself up again and go on for another 7 days but the lemonade tastes gross and I cant stand cayenne pepper. Is there an alternative?
Day 8: started the day off great. Went to Whole Foods and bought their lemonade and decided to drink that instead. It is far more delicious than the lemonade with cayenne. Suddenly at 3pm, Food cravings AGAIN. I went to Whole Foods and ate some curry, pita w/hummus and small apple pie =(. It was delicious though!
I am officially off the cleanse and did not have issues with just binging on food. I didn't need to "Ease" off it at all. I am also Vegan as I'm allergic to dairy. Taking solids right away is a little harsh on the stomach though but I couldn't stand not eating. I felt really weak and tired and found myself falling asleep at the wheel on the highway which prompted me to go quickly to Whole Foods.
I want to pick myself up again and try a juicing diet or something similar with better tasting liquid. Do you have any suggestions?

Hiya Nika, maybe I can switch with you. I love snow, well skiing and snow boarding atleast. I haven't been able to go up to the mountains and skii for 4 years, that's probably why I gained so much weight. My daughter is still 3 and a half. I'll wait until next year then we can take her up to Big Bear Mountains to see the snow.
I found gardening very helpful for me to stay away from all the cravings. My parents just moved in with us, because my mom was just diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. She loves to cook asian food. I can't tell her to stop cooking because they're not doing the cleansing with me, but it was a torture, so I go out in the backyard and do some yard work until my cravings are gone.
My urges to quit happens during the day time and goes away when it gets dark. I'm the opposite of you. I used to sit in front of the Television and eat a bag of chips and 2 cans of soda. Horrible habit.
Today is day number 5 for me, I was having severe soda/caffeine withdrawal during day 3 and 4 but I was able to fight it with hot bath and Taebo. So far I've lost 11 pounds.
Keep up the good work everyone.

Howdy, all! Congrats on your achievements!
I'm about to start my second cleanse - did my first back in July of last year and surprised myself by lasting 17 days...I had only intended to go 10, but my tongue was still coated and I felt so good that I just kept going. I felt like superwoman! Stayed on a 75% raw diet for 2 months following the cleanse, and after that I managed to slip right back into cheeseburgers, beer, pizza, pasta, wine, sugar...if it's food and it's bad for you, I've been eating it. :(
With spring around the corner, it's time to start feeling better once again and cut the bad eating habits - for my physical as well as my mental health!
The only problem I had last time around was that my teeth hurt terribly. Someone told me later that the acidity from the lemons can strip the enamel from your teeth permanently, and that that might be why my teeth hurt so badly during - and after - the cleanse. Brushing my teeth was excruciating for months after the cleanse - in fact, they still hurt in some places. This person suggested I try a straw this time to save my teeth?
In looking up the recipe again, I think I may have screwed up last time...I bought the book in a bookstore and distinctly remember using 2 ounces of fresh squeezed lemon juice, 2 ounces of org. B maple syrup (and the cayenne plus 8-10 ounces of water.) I always felt like I was using a lot of lemons to eke out 2 ounces of juice per drink.
This time, I can't find my book and so looked up the recipe online...they all seem to say 2 Tablespoons each of syrup and lemon juice. So now I'm wondering if there is much of a difference between ounces and tablespoons - I'll have to check it out. The recipes say 1/2 a lemon ought to be sufficient for one drink. Ha! Are you all finding that to be true? Maybe I used way too much lemon last time and affected my tooth enamel?
Anyway, if any of you have any thoughts or advice, I'd appreciate it. Congrats on making it through another day, and enjoy the good old SWF tomorrow morning. ;)

I don't think I was as mentally prepared for this as I was the last(first) cleanse. I was just dieing to break it and had a tough time battling it out. It really does go to show just how mental most of it really is.
i fully agree with you. im a cheater and a failure. BUT i've given myself a handy "out" by noting that i ran out of water this morning. i simply *couldn't* keep it up until i refill my waters tomorrow.
*sigh*
i felt so dirty and guilty after eating some rice tonight, but i refill tomorrow AM and will call tomorrow day one, again.
i lasted 15 days on my last cleanse, which was about nine months ago. nine, stressful months ago. i KNOW i can do this, and im pissed i pussed out after three days (again, the water excuse)
so...i suck
but i start anew tomorrow...
after a fatty poo poo.

Hello all!
Tommorow I start my first cleanse! I am back at school (I was on spring break) and have my micro-fridge stocked full of lemons, and I'm ready to go! I'm very excited, and I made my first lemon drink tonight just to try it out. It tastes a lot better than I expected! I made 3 drinks worth of the stuff and put it in a nalgene and I'll refrigerate it overnight. I know I've read in some places not to store the drink because the electrolytes in the lemon juice don't work as well, but I wanted to have everything ready for my first day so the process goes smoothly. by the way what is the official word on that? Can you make it the night before?? I have an 8am class m/w/f so I have my alarm set for 6 and I'll wake up and do the SWF and I'm leaving the extra time just to make sure everything is done and dusted by the time I need to get to class. I'll figure out how long it will usually take before I start waking up any later. I'm very excited, and it's fun with all my friends thinking I am insane. I'm excited to prove them wrong. I am incredibly excited to jump into this adventure and to put myself through this experience! See you all on the other side :)
Good luck everyone!

OK, I am ready to go . . .. I have all the stuff to do it right! I have one question. I take thyroid medication. I want to take it, but not 'wash it out' out of my system. What do you suggest?

Congrats on making it through another day, and enjoy the good old SWF tomorrow morning. ;)
Hiya BrooklynCat, yeah 2 fl oz. would equal to 3 tablespoons. You did use about a tablespoon more than what the recipe recommend. But hey, atleast now you know and will be able to do the cleansing right this time. My mom bought me one of those manual juicer and I was able to get 12 tablespoons from 3 to 4 lemons.
I always look forward to drinking my lemonade but not the swf. I heat mine up and pretend it is salty broth, but since i was born and grew up by the beach, even if i close my eyes while I drink the SWF, It still taste like ocean water to me, but I'm a big girl and I know swf works better than drinking just the lax tea alone.
I took a break from the swf this morning, and had the lax tea instead because I had to go to church with my kids, and I don't want to have to ran to the restroom and make funny noises in the toilet :D at church. I'm on the end of day 5 and doing great so far.
I work part time as a Nurse, so I've been off for the last 5 days since I've started the cleanse, work called me to come in 3-11 shift tomorrow, so I'll have to prepare myself, make sure to bring my lemonade, water and lax tea. You know Nurses looove to eat, we have pizza, tamales, cookies, candies and all kinds of stuff at work, all the time. So this is going to be a test for me. I'm pretty sure I won't be cheating because tomorrow will be my 6th day, and I'm not about to ruin all the hard work for a piece of chocolate chip cookie, even the thought of it makes me sick to my stomach.
All I think about now is having a big platefull of salad greens, and my favorite sugar snap pea.....Yuuummmm!!!:p
As far as your tooth enamel is concerned, I'm sorry you're having trouble with your teeth, I know how that feels, toothache is the worst, you might have something else going on with your teeth that you need to see your Dentist. It looks like you only used 1 tablespoon more of the lemon, which I don't think will hurt your teeth, but it also depends. Some people are sensitive to the acidity of the lemon juice. You're right, try using a straw this time.
More power to you, and happy cleansing :)

As far as I know, you're supposed to take your thyroid medication early in the morning on an empty stomach, and not take any kind of meds, especially Iron or any type of vitamins for atleast 3 hours, or it will interact with your thyroid meds. I suggest you see your Primary care Physician, and talk to him about the cleansing. And maybe he can suggest the proper time for you to take your medication.
When I spoke to my MD, and told him about the cleanse, he said that it is ok for me to do it, as long as I pay attention and listen to my body. And not do it more than what is recommended. Since i suffer from Obesity and hypertension, he wanted to see me after I get done with my cleansing to do some lab tests, to see where my blood levels are, which I think is a good idea. I might be able to get off my high blood pressure meds after my clenase.
It's better to talk to your MD first since you're on prescription medication just to be safe. My mom was recently diagnosed with Thyroid cancer, they took out her thyroid and she is taking thyroid medication right now. She was going to do the master cleansing with me, but her MD told her to hold off until we get the result of her tests, because they found out that the cancer has spread. And the MD does not want her to do anything that might interfere with her treatment as of this time. I am doing more research about doing the cleansing while on thyroid medication, because I know my mom will benefit from doing the cleansing. It will give her more energy, and help with her depression also.
Hope this helps. Let me know. Good luck to you, and happy cleansing.

Ok, here I go. Drank my lax tea last night and am ready to start day 1 with some delicious salt water. I've done this twice before, and was amazed with what it did for me. I'm hoping this time I can end it with healthier eating patterns. I'm getting ready to move our large family South, and I've been so stressed getting the house ready to sell. So I've discovered that I'm a stress-eater and need to gain control. I've cleaned out my house, now it's time to clean out my body.

Hello All!
This is day 1 for me, last spring I did the MC and am hoping that this time I will have better eating habits following the cleanse. I am already going through cravings...ahhh! But I am so thankful for this blog, you all are so inspirational. Thank you for helping me to commit to starting the cleanse.

Hi All!
Day 1 for me and I am already beginning the cravings. Ahhh! Thank you everyone for posting, you truly are inspirational. For some reason, the hardest days for me are day 1 and 2. Just like last spring, I have once again struggled to start the cleanse. However, once I begin, it is definitely easier. Reading your blogs has given me the strength and courage to commit so thank you all.

Having serious thoughts of quitting. Today is the start of day 7.
What is the use of cleaning the toxins out of my body when I live in a toxic environment? My bf decided to do his soldering project at the kitchen table last night, filling the house with toxic fumes that the pets & I had to inhale.
I had to work fairly early yesterday and make an emergency MS run on my way to work so I didn't do the SWF or lax tea yesterday morning. Today I was back to the SWF and found I am cleaning out more old junk.
Need to make another supply run. Again! Bought lemons and MS on Friday. The lemons ran out Sat and the MS on Sun, so now have to stock up again. I'll have to see if I can get the car out! Yesterday's snow got super soft (+1 C temp), and then froze overnight (-7 C ) and has made a little wall blockading my car next to the curb.
The bf is not being very sensitive or supportive.

Happy Monday Folks....
Day 18 and feeing pretty icky today. I was doing great until I went to hot and sweaty brikam yoga yesterday morning - Um yoga in a 105-110 degree room when you have not had solid food in days may not be the smartest thing in the world - the main reason I went was that I was so freaking cold I just wanted to get warm and streach out my body a little. I had to rest a little between poses as I did get lightheaded a few times. I have to say the yoga instructor about took off my head when she came to ask me what I thought of the class and I mentioned that I was looking forward to doing it when I was not cleansing. She thought I was nuts and trying to destroy my body - needless to say her judgement did not sit so well with me as I knew when to back off and rest.
However I am going to wait until I am off to go back as it was very intense and a some of the poses released quite a few toxins - all I wanted to do after that was sleep and this morning I felt like I had done the rockstar party thing - without any of the fun that got me to feeling the way that I did this morning.
I did stock up on lots of nuts and veggies for when I go off of this on Wed. Part of me would love to go longer but my husband kindly pushed back a nice romantic weekend by 2 weeks so I could do the MC. I need to be eating a little bit by this weekend.
The other cool thing is after talking to someone at my local heath/herbal pharmacy it was suggested that I slowly add back in foods such as Dairy, wheat, eggs, corn and soy at 3 day intervals to see if I have any ractions that my indicate that my body does not get along with that type of food.

Wow sounds like the universe in not working with you this week.
I understand the toxic fume thing. My husband decided clean the bathroom with some major cleaning thing that was so toxic it made me sick to be anywhere in the house - boy was I mad! I also think that we are much more sensitive during the MC - I know that I can smell much better than normal.
Hang in there - try to overstock yourself on what you need since you have bad weather that may prevent you from getting the store. Keep it up through today and see how you feel tomorrow after you to the SWF. Day 7 is the hardest for most people and if you can keep that in mind and push through it you will be doing a great service to your body. Today is just a milestone and tomorrow you may feel much better.

HI All!
I am jumping in on day 6 here, have not posted until today. I feel great, no issues. This is my third cleanse and it does get easier as you do more.. (9/08, 21 days, 1/09, 13 days).
However, I strongly advise against going out with people that are eating and drinking. I went out saturday night and watched people drink alcohol and devour food that looked amazing. It is sheer torture. I brought along my smooth move tea bag and asked for a mug of hot water... lol.
That being said, I am not going to do that again until my cleanse is over. I know I would not eat anything at all but it just doesn't help.
Question. I have been using a sea salt by alessi that is fine. Some mornings I have some elimination (or butt pee) from it but others not much. does it matter if the sea salt is fine or does it have to be course? This was never mentioned anywhere in the book. I would think that using course would be harder to drink..
Thanks for your input! I hope everyone is having a great day!!

Ok, I'm on day 9 and I'm feeling great!! I don't even have hunger pangs anymore and I think I'm gonna go a little longer than the 10 days. I figure since I still have two bottles of maple syrup left and tons of lemons still sitting on the counter, I may as well finish up what I have and then stop the cleanse when my supplies run out. So I'm thinking I have enough for at least another 4 to 5 days, so that's what I'll do. This is my third cleanse and it does seem to get easier each time you do it.
Good luck everyone!!

Hello lemonpeeps-
This is our Day 8. There seems to have been a shift in the attitudes of recent posts, from positive and hopeful to uncertain. To all those struggling out there with the MC--stick with it! You can do it!
Both A and I certainly have had thoughts of stopping the cleanse. These are short bursts usually accompanied by dreams of yummy foods. But what shines through these episodes is the power of the mental commitment. We set a goal, we are going to reach it. I think some of this resolve comes from a winter survival course we took last year in the Canadian Arctic. The instructor had a firm policy of not letting anyone "come in from the cold"--we had to build our own snow shelter in December and stay outside for 24 hours, with no ifs, ands, or buts about going into town to warm up. The reasoning was that if you let yourself cheat on something like that, you prevent yourself from reaching that physical and mental state of commitment.
So, keep up your commitment--don't let yourself down!
Some highlights from day 8:
*For some reason, Days 7-10 won't come quick enough. Let's go!
*A's teeth have been uber-sensitive when it comes to brushing at night. Recently read a post about lemon acid and enamel and wonder if anyone else has had tooth aches on the MC.
*Cayenne is kickin' Senna tea continues to provide tummy cramps over night. SWF gets the good stuff flowin.' Only two more SWFs to go!
*Our friends have been wonderful supporters, as has this forum. People seem to check in on us! That's great. Thank you friends.
*Back to work and school today for us two. Should be major tests of the commitment as we both will be face to face with food.
All the best-

that is great! You might be surprised on how much longer you can go. And if you have supplies it really is so much easier to just keep making drinks than making food. Look at how much time we have for other things since we aren't cooking!! I actually really like the drink a lot so I am not bored with it. I plan to do a colon cleanse when I am done with this. Got a book over the weekend and you make a drink that you drink throughout the day and just eat fruit only for 6 days and take some pills at night. Since I have to transtion to fruits anyway I may as well go right into this!! lol

hello everybody, I hope your all having a good day!!
This is the end of day one for me. Rough day! after doing the SWF I didn't eliminate until after classes, so it was about 3 hours later. I'm becoming convinced that if I sleep after drinking it, I don't eliminate as well. I'm just starting to get the hang of the lemonade mix. Earlier in the day, I had too much lemon juice and cayenne, and I wasn't drinking enough additional water. Because of this I've had on and off raging headaches today. Overall I haven't been physically feeling bad, and I am barely hungry. However I've been thinking about food a lot today. It's funny because I never think about food this much when I'm cutting weight for wrestling. I think it's because then I know it'll only be a day or two, and now I'm going for a while. I counted up my lemons and I actually only have enough money to do ten days. That's probably not bad since it's my first cleanse and I'm at college so it's hard not to eat/drink. Today was really tough but I'm feeling positive now and hoping that the cravings and negative thoughts start to clear up soon. I hope everyone is doing well. 'Till tomorow.

SCK,
I don't think you have to worry about your weight as far as the cleanse goes. Just be prepared for potential detox symptoms (read the Detox thread), because old toxins are stored in fat and as you lose the fat you may experience some unpleasant attendant results. However, if that happens, just keep drinking lots of lemonade and lots of water, and they'll flush out and be gone. :)
The chocolate Smooth Tea is perfectly acceptable. Just don't expect it to taste like chocolate, LOL. My favorite is actually Yogi Get Regular. But it's not about it tasting good--you need the laxative effect. Again, you want to get those mobilized toxins out as fast as you can, and the evening lax tea is critical.
If you hate the taste of tea, just make the tea up in advance, let it cool, hold your nose, and chug it. :D
Happy cleansing!
Hey Bostonlemonparty, If you have not seen senior member mtmouse's post, I've included it for you. The headaches may be just another detox symptom. I hope you are drinking the SWF first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Then, allowing about two-three hours for the flushing action to finish. :D

HI, I am new to all of this.. today is Day #2. First time trying anything like this. My daughter in law is who got me started. I have IBS with constipation and was hoping this will help. I usually only eliminate every few days, and thats normal for me..
So far I am doing good. I have done 2 SWF now but have not eliminated yet. Is that normal? Tonite I will try some Smooth move tea and see if that works. I havent had any problems drinking either the Salt water or the lemonade.
I guess thats good! I am going on a Cruise in 21 days with my family, so that has also been part of my motivation for the cleanse to get feeling better and hopefully lose a few pounds before we go. I am a 45 yr young woman who weighs 155, but weighed only 125 all my life prior to turning the big 40, so it has not been a happy thing for me gaining this 30 lbs!!! = (
Any advice, help or support will be greatly appreciated! Wish me luck,
Thanks

Hello, this will be my third cleanse. I did one in August 08, then again in January 09. There is another similar forum out there that I used the second time because I thought it was this one. Has anyone else used it? It seems to be very similar to this one. I lost 14lbs in January and only gained 3 back! It was great. I have been eating poorly/badly:rolleyes:the last few weeks and decided to do the cleanse again to get my body back on track. I find it really helps to regulate all sorts of things. Hopefully I can hang in there for 10 days again.

Hi otis, I use fine sea salt instead of the course, it's easier to mix with water. I believe as long as it is non-iodized, you can use either other.
I'm an day 7 of my very first cleanse. As far as elimination is concerned, after doing my swf, some days i eliminate (butt pee) a lot and some days not much. But I do eliminate each time I do the flush. I'm sure you know to wait 30 minutes or more before you drink your first lemonade.
Wow!, you sure have a good fighting spirit, I admire you for that. It would be very hard for me to just watch my friends party and drink, I'd go nuts
Happy Cleansing to all!!

SUNBUM 64-(Shelly)-I feel your pain! I'm also 45 and just started. I'm on day 2. I've got 7 kids and my hips show it. I used to be fairly thin before I went thru all those pregnancies. I'm around 180? I threw out my scale about 2 yrs ago! You wouldn't think I was 180, though. I hide it pretty good, but it's starting to all accumulate around my belly, so I'm doing my 3rd Cleanse. Day 9
The food world has been tempting A's fate: yesterday 2 large boxes of healthy snacks [auntie annie's graham crackers and similar delicacies] were delivered to her free of charge, an interesting twist of fate, and now she can't even eat them!
Then today, after a training session that took place over the lunch hour and included food, a pizza was offered to A- which she accepted, only to have to go home and package up for freezing. Maybe in a few weeks...
Otherwise, both of us are doing well, and looking forward to being almost finished with our first MC, and ten days at that!
Just like days 2, 3, and 7 didn't translate into much of "detox" days for us, day 8 also did not show itself as anything different than the other days. Still not much hunger, but definitely excited about eating again, cooking, composting, and all the activities that go along with food culture.
The other A forgot to sweeten one batch of lemonade, sour!, but other than that we have stuck to the regimen very closely.
Best of luck to everyone out there with just a few days left, what an exciting time.
Congratulations to all of you,

Hello all, I hope everyone had a good day today.
a fun day 2 for me is just about in the books. I felt pretty good today, much better than yesterday. I thought about food a lot, though not as much as yesterday and I really really hope that this continues to fade. The mental battle seems to be by far the biggest challenge so far. As a wrestler, not eating isn't much of a problem haha. However, I had my worst craving so far tonight when my friend came up to my room to borrow some ramen noodles from my stash and I pretty much spent the next hour trying to convince myself that it would be OK to have soup haha. Obviously I managed to talk myself out of it and it's passed. I haven't been hungry all day except for the one or two times when I went about an hour without drinking the lemonade and I was fine once I had some. My stomach has been growling a lot today and it feels like stuff is moving around, or emptying out, or something like that. I'm getting sick of the lemon taste but that's too be expected. After my migraine last night I was not feeling great but I am much better today. I had the peppermint tea for the first time and that helped a lot, I think simply because it was a different taste. I lifted today with the team and that was pretty difficult, though I made it through. I'm guessing with the lack of protein that I'll be pretty sore tomorrow. I'm very interested to see how much/what my BM's are like from here on out, now that I'm mostly 'empty'. I
m also excited to step on a scale tomorrow, so we'll see how that goes. 'Till tomorrow!
P.S. Tanyazl1 Thanks a bunch for copying that for me! that was really nice of you and very encouraging.

I fell asleep the night before I was starting this and didn't take the Herbal Tea. Does the first day count without starting with the tea?
If so, I'm finishing my third day right now. I'm new to this. I just heard about it Friday night from my brother, researched it that night and much of Saturday before going out and buying the stuff to start the next morning. I'm just confused because people say the first 2-3 days are so hard. But the only hard thing for me so far has been last night when I was having cravings for food. But other than that, I have not been hungry. I have not felt any discomfort or pain. I haven't had any cold or flu symptoms. I haven't had a decrease in energy, if anything I'm feeling better. I'm not saying I want to experience unpleasant things, but I am just worried because I haven't heard anyone say it has been a walk in the park up through the third day (of their first cleanse, no less).
I don't think I am doing anything wrong. Is the cleanse just not an obtrusive thing for some people? I kind of wish I had some sort of barometer to gauge my progress so far. But I feel left in the dark.
(Just to clarify, it hasn't been a complete walk in the park for me. I just have above normal determination at sticking with things. I certainly have been tempted to throw in the towel many times so far. But it is not something I can accept doing.)

(Just to clarify, it hasn't been a complete walk in the park for me. I just have above normal determination at sticking with things. I certainly have been tempted to throw in the towel many times so far. But it is not something I can accept doing.)
Hi MorPhiend, If you read the book and following the instructions, you should be fine. Relax, you're doing great:) I'm at the end of my 7th day, this is my very first Master Cleansing too. I've had cravings during day 4 but other than that, I've been doing great. No other symptoms whatsoever, consider yourself blessed for not experiencing a lot of the symptoms. I had some slight headaches during day 3, but I just took a little nap and rest for about an hour and a half, did some yard work, the headache went away after the swf the next morning.
Keep up the good work.

Hello MorPhiend!
Each fast/cleanse is different. My first cleanse I didn't have issues until after 30 days. It is what is its 8) Follow the book, read the link below for newbies, and you will satisfy your curiosity. Don't throw in the towel. At some point, you may feel really energetic. Then you will have a light feeling about yourself. It's really refreshing, too. You can do it!:)8);)

Im having trouble figuring out this whole bulletin board thing but i have general questions about the cleanse...
Im on day three and am having no craving and am not hungry at all.. i find it hard to drink the whole 60 ounces of the flush because im just not hungry, im worried im doing something wrong. Also, what is the ratio of water and salt i should be using for the flush? i read it was one teaspoon of salt and 25 ounces of water but im not sure if that is correct.. and is the flush once or twice a day? i know its in the morning right when you wake up but is it also at night? and last question.. the laxative tea, is that required everynight before bed or is that optional?
Thank you i really appreciate the help i dont wanna continue with the flush doing something wrong :/

Hi there Asugler1,
It doesn't sound like you've read either of the books. Those are critical! Especially because your information seems all wrong, and who knows whether you're really following the MC at all. I would suggest you stop, get either Burroughs' or Peter's book, and make sure you're doing everything correctly before you begin again.
However, as to your question: The SWF is 2 level tsps of non-iodized salt per quart (32 oz.) of water. (And that's all you drink--one quart.) It is done once a day, in the morning on a completely empty stomach. It should not be done again or after ingesting anything.
In the evening you must drink one cup of laxative (senna) tea.
In between you drink 6-12 glasses of the lemonade.
You are allowed *occasional* mint tea (i.e., one cup or less per day).
That's it.
Please get your information ahead of time and then have a great cleanse!

Hello folks--
We are happy to say that this is our Day 10.
So, we've finished the cleanse! Our immediate (gut?) reaction is to EAT! Of course, the book and the forum posts instruct otherwise. But we found it interesting that we had a very strong commitment to the regimen while "on the cleanse". As soon as we got off, however--we were ready to break the rules. Especially if it meant tasty morsels of food.
The instructions for breaking the fast are not nearly as clear and concise as the rules for maintaining the cleanse. This is what we plan to do:
*tomorrow, drink OJ (1 8oz glass when we wake up, 2 8oz glasses during the day) plus ~3 glasses of lemonade and water when we want it.
*Friday, drink OJ in the morning and water when we want it. Maybe a glass of lemonade or two. Make some veggie broth for afternoon lunch.
*Saturday, more lemonade, more OJ, more broth, and a salad for din-din. Yeah, we can say din-din again!
*Sunday, start incorporating normal foods.
We've read about how some MC'ers feel an affinity to raw/vegetarian diets as they progress through the cleanse--and then find themselves craving only those foods upon completion. That's not us at all! We want all types of greasy, sweet, and savory meals. But, we also have thought about what foods we want to prioritize in our diet moving forward (local eggs, soy/rice milk, organic potatoes, tomatoes, and green peppers, and very little meat).
It's been a unique experience and we wish all of those still out there doing their thang the best of luck. The sense of accomplishment at the finish line is worth a lot of the slogging through the lemonade.
Thanks for the support-

Hi everyone,
I am a newbie, and I am on day 3 of the MC. Days 1 and 2 were a breeze for me. Not sure why because I love food. (smile..) But it was clearly mind over matter. Today however is a different story I have had several cravings today that for whatever reason even the lemonade couldn't cure. I stayed focused and didn't cave in, although it was very hard.
I am feeling really good. My sleep at night is a lot more peaceful and I think I am sleeping a lot harder than normal. I hopped on the scale this morning and have lost 6 lbs. in two days, and I truly feel great.
Onward and upward!!!:):D

After a couple of false starts, I'm back on day two. I truly think I am in the correct mindset now, and determined to at least make it to 14 days, if not more. Would love to go for a 30+ cleanse, but at the moment I'm taking it one day at a time. Anyway though, back to day two. Didn't feel any detox symptoms yet, neither on day one or day two. Not tired, not irritable, not really craving anything in specific... though I do work at a made-to-order deli five days a week for at least 5-6 hours, so when I'm standing making someone's sandwich, I think I'm hungry, but then I go in the back and chug a LA and all is well! I found on previous attempted cleanses that day three is where I get hit hard with detox, so not anticipating that. Today I drank six LA's, eliminated twice before the SWF (used two lax tea bags night before) and then about four times after the SWF. As of day two, I've gone from 251.6 to 245.2. Geez. Also I felt slightly energetic today, nothing much to brag about though.

Congrats on day 10, A & A! I didn't really crave raw/vegetarian foods after my first MC either. I started off the first post-cleanse week pretty well, but I had been craving so much of EVERYTHING bad during the cleanse that it was like I couldn't stop myself from indulging. After my 2nd MC (last month), I cleansed for half the time (my first MC was 20 days) and really wanted to go the uber healthy route! I'd been reading up on raw foods anyway, so I think that helped to steer me down that path. Now I am hoping that subsequent cleanses will serve to remind me of my raw goals and maybe make me even a little bit closer to 100%! The cleanses are definitely very unique experiences for every one who does them! :)

I"m on day 4, and really starting to miss food. It's hard making my little girl lunch, especially when she wants something hot, and the smell just takes over the house! Today it was Taylor Ham. For those of you who don't know this, it's like a cross between bacon/ham. Super freaking good is what it is. You fry it and ooooohhhh, how I wanted it. I could rip into a piece like a caveman. But I'm not. Yesterday (day 3) I drank all my saltwater and about 10 minutes later puked it all up. Boy, that made me mad. I mean I got it all down. So then I laid back down, and then made a cup of lax tea instead. Didn't have the "flush" as usual, but today I'm back on track with lots of bp. I feel a little sleepy, but figure if I take a nap, thats a little more time out of my day. I really don't like going without food. I love food.
But I do feel so much better when it's all said and done. I'm going to the lake for Easter and want to look and feel good. So onward I go. Good luck everybody. Hang in there. It's only a small portion of your life that you're dedicating to hell, to get to the heaven on the other side!

I'm on Day 4 and feel good. I little lightheaded, but overall good. Doing the SWF in the morning and lax tea at night. I wake up early every morning and have an elimination from the tea the night before, then move onto the SWF which has given me up to 5 eliminations over the course of 3 hours.
Can't wait for the weekend to lay on the couch and soak this in...my co-worker asked if I was going to make it. I said yes, because it's all downhill from here.
I have noticed that every other commercial on TV is for a food-related item or restaurant!

I am on day 4. After finishing an unbelievable journey with Breast Cancer, I knew I wouold eventually want to really clean my system out. I finished my last hit of radiation in Aug. 2007 and my chemotherapy May of 2007. I had 38 hits of radiation and 18 hits of extremely toxic chemo(adriamicyn)or better classified as the red devil. Prior to my diagnosis Oct. 2006, I was an avid runner, yoga girl and more. My eating habits were great! But when the BIG CHEMO hit all my diet and exercise went out the window. The entire year of 2008 and the beginning of this year, My eating habits were terrible and really haven't exercised. I heard about the cleanse last week and I am following it to the tee. The salt water is not bad at all. I think the trick is to warm half the water and use the light grey celtic salt. As you gulp down the salt water close your eyes and pretend like you are drinking chicken broth. The lemonade tastes fine. I manage about 6 8ozs. per day with mint tea and water intermittent. I am a single mom of three and I can't lie around and wait to see what happens. With may cancer journey I worked all the way through. If you really want to change your life you will take this seriously and not try to add things that aren't part of the cleanse. Thank you Peter for your awesome book, it really clarifys things. I am a liitle nervous about the effects of the chemo an what it can do. I don't want to stop the cleanse, I am feeling a little sluggish and tired, typical hunger pangs. When I started the cleanse I was 173 lbs. I am 5 ft. 9 in. and my age is 48 yrs. I have lost 3lbs., my ideal weight is 145. I plan on after my cleanse to try to eat raw!! Also if things remain the same I may go past the 10 days. I want to see a beautiful pink tongue! The dreams at night have been very interesting, as have the bowel movements (bright yellow) ! I will keep you posted!!! Hang in there you awesome wonderful people!!!

Hello fellow MC'ers, I'm on day 9 today, and I'm doing great. Went to the grocery store today and purchased more lemons to last until tomorrow. Also purchased some oranges to squeeze after my cleanse. I feel great lost 16 pounds so far and lost lots of inches on my waist, hips, arms, legs =, all over :).
I also made some home made vegetable broth and vegetable soup. A bowl of that sounds good too, but I know I have to follow the instructions on breaking the cleanse. Just purchased 2 bottles of probiotics also.
My husband and I decided to do the cleanse together in June. I will be slowly switching to vegetarian diet, low-carb. I'm excited to change my way of eating, and stay away from putting junk in my body, plus It'll be a good example for my kids.
Keep up the good work everyone. Happy Cleansing. God Bless.

Survivor: thank you for your great story... somehow it makes this cleanse seem so insignificant compared to what you've been through, and has given me strength to get through this!
Today is the end of day 4 for me, and lets just say it has been MUCH better than days 2 and 3... I was feeling just sluggish, and for lack of a better word, toxic. Today is much better, and I'm finding ways around the little annoyances I find along the way with this cleanse. For example, I'm finding the Cayenne to be a little hot, especially after it sits for a while. Well I let it settle to the bottom of the glass and suck it all up real quick with a straw, followed by a couple more swigs of non-spicy LA. Works like a charm!
Anyways, I'm planning on going a full 14 days, or until my tongue clears up... I'm just craving something (ANYTHING) savory... I had a big whiff of lasagna tonight and it took care of my craving for a bit!
Thanks to this forum, I really don't think I would have been able to do this thing without it!

Hi Survivor! You are awesome. :D Congratulations for winning your battle with cancer. Take the MC one day at a time. The symptoms you are experiencing may be detox symptoms, but you may want to check with your doctor due to your radiation and chemotherapy treatments. A raw diet is the way to go! I have been 80-90 % raw for 17 months. I have more energy and think clearer on a raw diet. Visit the 'after the cleanse' thread when you decide to transition from the cleanse. There are lots of raw food ideas there. In the mean time, take a read at the links below for Newbies if you haven't read them already...they are a great help. :)

Hello!!
Just a quick question: this is my very first cleanse and today was my very first day! It was SO much harder than I thought it'd be. I absolutely COULD NOT drink all 6 glasses of lemonade. I got 4 down and got extremely nauseous on the fifth. Are all 6 glasses absolutely necessary? I'm already losing most of my motivation, trying to find a way to make it through all 10 days, I'm really not a quitter. Any words of wisdom would be extremely appreciated!

Hi Peter,
I am on my 26th day of the Master Cleanse and day 25 of no alcohol. I did have 3 oz of wine that first night but not since. I have lost 40 lbs so far (I started at 198 lbs) to be near my optimal weight of 150-155. Today I am 159.
I pushed myself and added a liver flush (which I will not do again until the cleanse is over) and got out a lot of gallstones while I am at it.
I work in a realty office of nearly 400 agents and everyone there is asking me what is going on. Three people are now committed to trying this and many facebook friends are asking as well. I post updates via Twitter.
Is there a forum or small group of folk who share their long term experiences? I have read too many day 2-10 posts and really want to focus on long term results and experiences. Any help would be appreciated.
My story is simple in that I was afraid to fast due to my family health patterns. Everyone but me is diabetic. I was concerned naturally over blood sugar issues. My doctor is on board with this by the way. I started with the goal of 3 days. Then 5, then 10, then 14, then 21 and now 30. I am considering continuing until I have no body odor from underarms and my tongue is clean... it is consistenly white although I think I see pink coming through and less white today. I could stand 10 more lbs off since I figure I will potentially put 5-10 back on. The weight is not the goal but is a Wonderful side effect.
Thanks for letting me share and I still want to connect with other long termers.

Thanks himitcho and Tanyazl1 for your support! The links are very appreciated and I can't wait to learn more about the raw food and the transition. I wonder if the chemo doctors really know much about detox. Like you said I will have to take each day. I did feel a little dizzy yesterday!
This is day 5 for me, after I posted yesterday I can't tell you how emotional I was. My mother who also lived with me for 8 years, passed away suddenly Nov. 7th, 2008. She was my best friend and since her death I have definately shed some serious tears. Last night I was sitting in a chair and I looked down at my wrist at a sweet little bracelet she used to wear. I started sobbing uncontrollably! I know this may sound weird, but I could really feel her presence.
I think I am going to change my goal to 14 days too. I figure if I can make it to ten days and still keep my energy, 14 shouldn't be too hard. I added a bit more salt today and a hair more red pepper. My bowel movement today started out very brown like brown leather, it was watery and loose, there was also some black looking things. Shortly after my saline flush the bright yellow orange mucous bile with strange pieces rushed out. Sorry if this TMI. I am pretty tired today, I really am not sleeping too well, I think it is the chemo coming out or possibly the steriods they used, it is similar to when I was going through chemo, I had many sleepless nights. The difference now, when I do fall asleep, I sleep so so deeply. I am sure the lack of sleep will get better as I push through this detox.
I am feeling hungry right now! It is Friday and I am a little congested! I will keep you posted, hang in there my fellow comrades!!!!

Okay, I'm on day 5. I did this before for 4 days and it wasn't too tough...this time has been harder, but by day 4 I felt great. (I plan to go the whole 10 days this time) Today all my cravings are gone and I've needed less lemonade. However...on the third day I had 10 servings and was starving - not having cravings but STARVING. I was biting heads off - everyone at work was fortunate to have time with me that day. lol. BUT...I cheated a bit and want to know people's opinion. First - I am not doing this fast to lose weight - I weigh what I should (need to get in shape though.) I am doing this to cleanse my colon of whatever is stuck in there...to reset, refocus. So my main concern here is not whether my cheating will make me gain weight but whether it will affect the actual cleanse. [So anyway - on the third night I decided to boil some carrots, celery, cabbage and onions and drank the broth - just the broth. My thinking is that it was just water with some added nutrients - what harm? It made me feel wonderful and that was that. It has not increased my cravings at all - I still intend to do the 10 days with the ease-out as well, and my intention is to plan my meals carefully as to nutritional content. So - sorry for making this so long, but what effect will my "cheating" have on the cleansing process?

I have been thinking about doing this cleanse for about a year now, and I have finally mustered the courage. Tomorrow will be my first day. I am very excited and also a little bit nervous (mostly about the SWF and being hungry all the time)! But I am determined to stick with it in order to gain optimal benefits. I have been a mostly vegetarian for about 8 years now (I eat fish and other seafood) and have always been concerned about my mercury intake. Part of me would also like to phase fish out of my diet altogether b/c of toxins and the environmental damage caused by the fishing industry - but wow, sushi is so tasty, I wonder if I will ever be able to give it up! I try to be healthy with lots of organic foods, including fruits and veggies, but I find it hard to stay away from dairy (mostly cheese), fried foods, and processed soy/fake meat products, which I know are not healthy at all! I am hoping upon completion of this cleanse, I will no longer feel so drawn to such foods and will generally feel healthier and more toxin-free. Here's hoping!!!!

End of Day 10. I feel great and ready to break the cleanse tomorrow. Got all the information I need to safely break the fast. Also, I will be switching to vegetarian lifestyle with about 50% Raw to start then gradually increase until I am at least 90% Raw.
Thank you everyone for all your helpful posts. I got a lot of great recipe from the other board from Res. I will be doing another cleanse in June, with a goal of doing up to 21 days of cleansing. I've lost 15pounds, and lots of inches, especially my waistline.
Keep up the good work everyone. Stay strong and focus on your goals. Happy cleansing and God Bless.

Hi Everybody,
I am on day 1 of my first mc, and as I type this I'm drinking my first lemonade of the day. I'm glad to find I like the taste, however the swf was another story. I didn't expect to like it, but I didn't expect my normally strong stomach to reject it. It was so disappointing to be only a few sips away from the finish only to throw it all up. Tomorrow morning I may try the tea instead. I want to do this properly and by the book, however if I can't keep the swf down then it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to continue with it, does it?
I'm really excited about my first mc and am planning on going for 10 days. I'm hoping that at the end of it I'll have more energy and better sleeping habits and that I will be less susceptible to flus & colds and just generally feel better. If I lose a few pounds as well I'll be really happy!
I've never used a BB before but plan on using this one often, and hope to find the inspiration and solidarity I'll need to complete this! Best of luck to everyone else out there doing the mc right now. Keep strong, and remind yourself constantly why you are doing this :-).

Please read the link for newbies at the bottom of my post. Here is a quick link for tips about the SWF. http://www.therawfoodsite.com/forum/showpost.php?p=23442&postcount=14:D You can also use a straw...shake the SWF between chugs...what ever it takes to get it down. I mix mine right before consuming it with room temp spring water and use a straw. I place the straw as far back in my mouth as I can stand without gaging and get-r-done in about 5 minutes.
You really need to follow the cleanse exactly as written for the desired result. You can do it!

I'm on day 6 now, and doing well so far. Definitely miss food. Only had the one day where I puked up the salt water & had to do tea instead. Now I look forward to the morning flush, because I wake up with slight cramps. I know from past cleanses that if I don't drink a glass of water after the lax tea at night, I wake up with BIG cramps, so I'm not complaining. I just can't wait to get rid of that stuff in the morning! My skin feels better, and my face looks like I lost some weight. I threw my scale out a couple of years ago, so I don't know how much I've lost. A couple pounds, anyway, I"m sure. I want to do this for 14 days. I just hope I can break it gently this time. I"ve had trouble with that in the past.
I don't drink that many lemonades during the day. Only when I feel real hungry. I'm just not hungry for it. Kind of sick of it already. Ok, really sick of it. I"ve been going thru about 4-5 lemons a day, which equals about 3 decent glasses of lemonade. I hope that's enough. I drink water in between, and do my lax tea & saltwater. Had one cup of peppermint tea so far as well. Trying to keep busy around the house to keep my mind off of food. But I seem to like to grocery shop, and stock the frig with lots of stuff! Not that I can have any of it, but I seem to always want to cook for my family more when I'm doing this. Like I don't want them to suffer as well! Kind of strange. Almost half way there! Can't wait to eat raw almonds. I've been craving them for some reason! Good luck everybody! I love reading your stories.

I am on Day 2 of my third MC. I started earlier this week but ended up eating soup at the end of day 1. So here it goes again! I find every time I do the fast afterward dietary transitioning becomes easier. Last time I eliminated fish from my diet so now I am Vegan. After this fast I will transition into more raw foods. I always read the posts but this is my first time posting! The support helps!

Hello,
This is my 2nd MC. I am on day 4. I have to say that yesterday, day 3, was very diffficult. I had a headache, joint pain, tiredness...my whole body hurt. I really felt like I had the flu. From reading the MC book, I know these are detox symptoms but I don't remember anything similar last time (2 years ago). Today, I woke up feeling 100% better. I am planning to stay on the MC till day 10.
Anyway, glad I am feeling better today as I wasn't sure if I would stay on if I woke up feeling worse today...
Thanks for all your informative posts!

Day 1 for me today, its been about a year since my last MC and it is time. I found it really hard to start though, I made my tea last night and just looked at it. drinking the lemonade and not eating is the easiest part for me, its the nasty tea and SWF that gets me. Luckly I opted for the Yogi tea and its not nearly as bad as the smooth move, and I took the advise of many on this board and chugged my SWF with a straw and it made all the difference. I actually got the SWF down in about 5 minutes using a straw, I wish I would have done that for my previous fasts...live and learn :D the only thing I'm experiencing right now is a raging headache, but It will pass. happy to be back on the fast though.
Good luck to everyone and stick with it!

Hello -
This is my second go-round for the Master Cleanse. I intend to start in several days when my kit arrives in the mail.
I started but did not finish it at the end of February. I made it to day 7 but had to eat something - not because I was hungry per se - but I needed to masticate!
But, I felt so good when I was doing the Master Cleanse, and I've been feeling so awful since I broke the cleanse that it's important for me to try it again.
So - wish me luck!

Hey everyone-
Today is our Day 13. We have officially completed the cleanse and returned to normal food. It was a great and challenging experience. To all out there still in it, keep up the good work!
To Brockoli---The regimen indicates that you should drink a minimum of 6 glasses of lemonade a day. The lemonade does help to quench/quell hunger, but that is not the only point of the drink. The lemon juice and cayenne are essential to breaking up the plaque on your intestinal walls. In order to get the full benefit of the cleanse, you should be drinking 6 glasses a day. We each drank about 9 a day.
To Sej--the SWF is the salt water flush. You must drink this each morning of the cleanse. If you haven't done it yet, and also haven't been drinking an additional mug of senna tea in the morning as a replacement, you may consider starting the cleanse over. The SWF is the "rinse cycle" of the cleanse, helping to flush out what gunk has been broken up by the lemonade. If you are having trouble drinking the SWF, you can look on the forum for tips. We warmed ours up and it kind of tasted like broth.
All the best to everyone else out there!

Hello All,
I was wondering if you can still exercise while on the cleanse. I run at least 3 miles a week and I work closely with a trainer doing cardio and strength training. I just need to know if there are any severe life threatening reasons to not exercise while cleansing. Unless I will have a heart attack, stroke, seizure or any other any other health issue I will continue to do my cleanse as planned. Any info you can give on this will be greatly appreciated.

So, I don't know if things are going well because I have had no detox symptoms or other problems, but I am glad I haven't. I'm about to finish Day 7. I have had a clean tongue the entire time, I haven't gotten sick, I have never puked the SWF from Day 1, no feelings of weakness, etc. It's not like I am an extremely healthy person either. I have always been extremely overweight. Before I started this I was at 285 lbs. So I was about 80-90lbs overweight (the last time I was 200 lbs, that was quite lean for my body). But everything else I guess is very good about me (bp, heart rate, cholesterol, etc. have always been extremely low for even a person of normal size). I wonder if that is why I haven't been having any bad symptoms. Maybe I naturally don't have much to detox over...?
If this is the case, I almost wonder why I'm even doing this. I do feel fine, I don't regret doing it, but life is sure easier when you don't have to worry about the program. The only problem I am having is that the cayenne combined with the bitterness of the syrup is starting to make the drink taste like a liquid ashtray to me. I guess that is the reason I am posting this.
Cravings are no problem. I watched my sister's kid Sunday afternoon and so she fixed dinner for me in return when they got home, but I could not eat with them. It looked way good, but I didn't feel too bad (this was even my first day). Tuesday afternoon at work they surprised us with an employee appreciation day and had tons of Papa John's Pizza and ice cream sundaes with tons of toppings. Thursday in my afternoon class the guy next to me had a carton full of seasoned fries with a tub of fry sauce he was chowing down on. Both the pizza smell and the fry smell actually smelled really good to me and just the smell satisfied me. It was amazing. Every day this week until today I have passed on a free dinner. The free part is the only thing I mind missing, LoL.
So cravings and discomfort are like zero issue for me. I am going about my days feeling nothing amiss except for the morning routine (which in and of itself is a problem - I often work until midnight and have 8am class 5 days a week. I have missed more than one class due to waiting around for things to happen).
I guess I am just looking for someone to give me reasons why I should carry on with this. I really don't feel any changes taking place from my perspective. I don't really mind most of this plan, it's just that it can sometimes be annoying or inconvenient. And if it's not doing any good for me, I figure my life could be easier than it is.
Oh and I'm thinking of leaving the cayenne out of my evening doses. I have never touched a cigarette in my life. Why should I be downing something that tastes like an ashtray?
And just so you all know, I'm not one to quit. Anything. I'm going to finish this out whatever answer I get. I guess I'm just looking for a little validation on my actions and decisions of late at this point. It would just make these last three days easier if I could get some good answers as to what may be going on with my body.

I have cleansed several times and have had some of my most powerful workouts while cleansing.
I feel so strong when I'm cleansing.
I say just listen to your body.
your body will tell you if it's okay.
if it feels good . . . do it!!!

Hi Tanyazl1,
I noticed in your signature the two long cleanses. How did you feel at 20 and 30 days? If someone has a moderately hectic lifestyle do you think it would be possible to keep it up for a 20 day or longer cleanse? I've cleansed 4 times also; 10, 11, 5 and 5 days. My last two were during emotionally stressful periods in my life that made it difficult to stay focused on the cleanse. The stressful events have passed and I'm ready to go again but would like to go longer this time.
I'd love to hear about your experiences during the longer cleanses.
Best,
Ana

Hey everyone!
Today is day 12 for me... I do the swf every morning but it doesn't really seem to get out a ton, I have increased the salt a little bit but still .... I am using fine sea salt. Is there an issue with that over course?
Ana- this is my third cleanse, first one 21 days and second 13. I never plan to do one less than 14. I loved being on it 21 days and could easily have gone longer but it kills your social life as you then need time to come off of it properly before eating regular food. It is really the second and third week of the cleanse where I feel the most benefit. Mental clarity, energy, less sleep needed, etc. And of course if you are looking to lose weight, more weight comes off. I don't lose much weight in the first week, it is the second and third week where it really starts to come off. I LOVE being on it longer and am going to do it 21 days this time too as well as a colon cleanse right after that is 6 days of eating fruit only.
Hope this helps!
xoxo

Tanyazl1, Thanks so much for the link! I did try the swf again this morning. Yesterday morning I used a straw but this morning I placed it further back and had a lemon on hand. Unfortunately I had the same result and it came back up, just as I was nearing the end. I was very careful with the measurements, and I'm really surprised as I've never had a weak stomach. Otherwise the mc is going well so far. I'm on day 2, enjoying the lemonade drink, have had a few cravings but nothing major. As I thought the things I'm missing most are my morning cup of milky tea and my evening glass of wine! But those are just habits better broken so onto day 2 :-)

Ok, today is day 7, and I don't have too many complaints. Other than totally missing food, I feel pretty good. Only problem is in the morning, I wake up around 6 am to pee, and do a little bp as well. Then I get a little crampy, so I go downstairs and do my swf, hoping it will clear me out. But it's like I've already cleaned out from the lax tea. No big rush of saltwater coming out anymore. Am I not drinking enough water? Maybe by body is holding on to that swf?? The cramps pass within an hour or so, and then I feel fine. I'm going to start drinking some more lemonades. I know I haven't been doing enough, but I'm just not enjoying them like I used to! I know during my regular diet, a big problem I have is not drinking enough. Not just water...anything. I'm just never thirsty, unless it's really hot out. I'll be a good girl and start drinking more. Just wish it was a beer. I could be thirsty for that right now! Thanks for your help!

Today is day 1 for me. It was supposed to be yesterday, but I got to 8:30 PM and gave into my hunger and cravings and ate. This is a lot harder than I thought it would be. So much of my life revolves around food, including eating when I'm bored. I hope I have the willpower to make it through!

Hey, You might think that nothing's happening, but great things are happening. The min cleanse is 10days, but my 2nd and 3rd cleanse's were 21 days and I've got to tell you, nothing really happens till day 19 and on. My bm's were pondwater till then, and then they were semi-solid. After 19 days of cleansing! Twice! Keep with it and you will see for yourself. A-

Well tomorrow I'm starting my 1st day of the cleanse, ever. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. This is like the only ok time for me to start a cleanse since I am out of school for the next week until my new qtr starts. Please wish me luck all, becuase I am aprehensive on how I will do. Well I'm not very good at posting things, but I will try to keep it up so I can get encouragement.

Hi all, I hope everybody is doing well.
Unfortunately, I was forced to stop the cleanse on day four, as I had promised with my mother if I missed any classes and on day four I slept through my 8am :(. However, I am piecing together some money and I am going to give it another shot as soon as possible, hopefully within the next few weeks. Good luck everyone!

Hi all, I'm only on day 3 but so far so good. I'm amazed at how much energy I have today. I'm still enjoying the lemonade, still having trouble with the swf, but no major cravings (lots of small ones though) and I'm feeling - right now anyway! - that 10 days is doable :-). Thanks for all of your posts. Spending some time on this board each day really helps. Stay strong everybody!

Hello All -- I am a newbie to MC. After completing some research and reading Burroughs book, I started my first MC last Tuesday. I am on day 7 and feel like I am being renewed from the inside out. My energy levels are great (I don't feel like I can run a marathon, but I don't feel sluggish or lifeless...LOL!). I am so excited about the prospect of living a whole life physically, mentally and spiritually. My goal is to stay on the cleanse another 6 or 7 days. I don't have huge craving for food...although last night I did dream that I ate something, I woke up feeling like I had a nightmare...LOL! I'm glad that this site exists, it's great to see how others are doing and get that extra kick when I need it. I'll keep you guys updated on my progress. Whatever you do...DON'T GIVE UP! My new mantra -- Determined...Dedicated...Disciplined to Be Fit & Healthy!

This is day #1 for me of the first cleanse I've ever done. So far I have done the SWF (yuk!!) and had two lemonade drinks. I am excited about doing this and apprehensive, all at the same time. I am TOTALLY the food person in this household. I buy it, put it away, cook it, serve it, clean it up, etc., so I'm afraid that will make this difficult. But I have faith that I will be able to stick with this because I have been planning and looking forward to doing it for a month now, and I am approaching it with a positive mental attitude, in anticipation of the wonderful health benefits I will reap! I wanted to start one week ago, because I am leaving on vacation on 4/9, and wanted to go ten days, with 3 days to ease off of the MC before vacation. Unfortunately, I became really sick with the worst cold and cough that I have ever had, which resulted in me having to be on an antibiotic. I didn't think I should start until I had that overwith. Consequently, I will only be able to do 8 days :( - could have waited until I come home to start, but I really wanted to do this before. Will 8 days be beneficial? I hope so.

I am on day 8 and it's been a pretty smooth ride. However, I do not have an over-abundance of energy that I keep hearing about. If anything, I feel a bit sluggish. I have been following the diet exactly as it is written. Here are some things I have learned:
-I have two jobs, and I find after working both in one day, I am beat...and my lower back is killing me. This has never happened before.
-I lift weights. I have found that without adequate protein, that my muscles are not repairing themselves. I have cut back on my weight training and will continue with just cardio for the remainder of the cleanse.
-My mood is very mellow, which can be a good thing. But overall, I haven't felt myself.
Other than that, things have been pretty much by the book. I had an unbearable headache on day 1, but no other ailments since then (except for the occasional backache after standing for several hours at work). No problem with the salt water, no cramps, and the eliminations are as expected. So I'll just keep on trucking through Day 10. I wanted to go longer but I can't take the sluggishness at my 2nd job.

Hi LaraPoms27. I have found that I can't weight lift as I usually do while on the cleanse. My muscles are not getting enough protein to repair themselves and therefore, I am sore for many days after my workout. I am concentrating on just cardio and light weights until the end of the MC.

I am on day 6. I feel great. Only have had one bad day so far. Other than battle the occasional craving, it hasn't been bad at all.
I feel like I've slimmed up a little, but I'm a little concerned and disappointed about my lack of weight loss up to this point. I'm a little lighter, but still in the general weight range that I tend to float in. I'm probably about 30 pounds overweight. I lift weights and do cardio regularly. I've continued to do that on the cleanse.
My buddy lost 26 pounds doing this for 10 days and said he lost the majority of his weight between days 3 and 7. I'm on day 6 and haven't started melting the weight of yet.
Any thoughts? Should I stay on the cleanse until I start seeing some drastic weight loss? I'm thinking about extending the cleanse to 15.

Hey All!!
Day 13 for me! I treated myself and slept in this morning as opposed to getting up early and going to the gym as always. I see a lot of new people out there getting started. You CAN do this! I have found that the first 3 days were the hardest (because we are conditioned to eat and we WANT to eat) but then after that, something happens and you don't even care. When my stomach growls I just make another lemonade and move on. There is not even a consideration EVER of putting food in my mouth and breaking the cleanse. I am very type A though so when I set out to do something, I do it. Just don't even let that be an option and you can do this.
Think of all the good you are doing for your body. WE have our entire lives to eat what we want and whenever we want, this is such a small amount of time a few times a year to detox and get clean. The food will be there when you are done. When it gets tough just log in here and get support, everyone here is fantastic and we all understand what you are and will be going through!

I am on my 5th day. Doing well. Not really feeling any more hunger pangs than I do with regular eating. I was weighing daily which Idont recommend because of extreme fluctuations which could be discouraging. On my 4th day my scale pounds went up 4 lbs then the next day, down 5 pounds. I know it is all fluid redistribution. The only exercise that Ihave been getting is walking my dogs so not really tired. I haven't had any headaches. I have been doing the SWF daily but wake up daily with puffy eyes. I hate that! I have yet to take any herbal laxative but will buy some today. I was having abdominal pain prior to the cleanse and thought that I may have picked up a parasite since I have been traveling to South America for several months now. The abdominal pain/tenderness went away totally by the 4th day of the cleanse. I am sleeping like a baby. I am trying to detox from too much airplane food, alcohol and coffee plus the possible parasites, that is what motivated me to start this. I started out weighing about 125 and do hope to lose a few pounds but not too much. My goal is 10 days, more if I feel ok. I just ignore the food in the fridge and dont watch much tv anyway so not tempted by the commercials. I would say just look at each day, not the many days ahead. It will get easier as time goes on. It has really been a breeze for me so far. My chronic neck and shoulder muscle tightness/pain has decreased significantly. I have not told anyone (especially family) that I am on it. They would then go into extreme worry mode thinking that I am starving myself to death while they sit around all overweight and exhausted. No problems so far of a significant nature. A good, easy way to detox. Hang In There!

Hey Lelsutigre!
My first cleanse was for 21 days, I lost about 15 pounds but I didn't see any real weight loss until around day 7 or 8. I was frustrated (and felt very bloated) after about 5 days, but I stuck with it and saw the results later in the fast, and I also continued to drop weight pretty quickly after the fast too. Just give it time, everyone is different. :D

hi! i am on day 7....never thought i would last this long without eating, i have four kids and a husband to cook for so i spend a majority of the time in the kitchen, but i actually found it rewarding making them great food, and i feel an apreciation for good food even more than ever. in all honesty i was tempted to quit last night because i felt i wasn't properly eliminating, (it was just watery) and i had no detox symptoms.....until today that is! i grew up on microwave meals, sugary sodas, and loads of antibiotics from years of chronic ear infections...so i am thinking maybe it took a while to get to those impacted toxins. if anyone is planning on quiting DONT! i think the rewards will be worth it, after all 10 days is nothing in the whole scheme of things! i am going to finish this cleanse with a 3 day juice cleanse and then raw food detox, (the RAW FOOD DEXTOX DIET book by Natalia Rose is awesome)! have a great day eveyone!! :)

Hello all!! I would just like to say that this is the start of day seven for me and am pleaser that I've come this far. I was encouraged to start 2 day's after my girlfriend and brother started. THey got the idea from my sister who did an 8 day MC. When I first started I thought ah no big deal I can do this. Then day 2 and 3 man oh man was I having cravings no feelings of hunger. I live in san Francisco and I drive for a living so being out driving past all the tourist areas with the aromas floating in and out of my car ...WHOA!!!! It was crazy made me laugh out loud. Yesterday was the first day that I felt like I had a little more energy then before the MC :). THe main differences I see is that the white around my eye's are whiter and I sleep less then before. I'm still waiting to have a BM that surprises me but I am surprised that I'm still eliminating waste  . Sure is a trip seeing that even going 7 day's of not eating anything. I'm waiting for day 14 to see if I have anymore semi-solid BM's. Energy wise there definitely is a boost in energy not a great difference but a noticeable one which is always good. So all in all having a great experience.

Hi I am on day three. I am a first timer and I am looking forward to results of the fast and to starting a healthy new way of life.
1st day - hunger pains, slight headache, tired and lazy, severe mood swings, leg, hip and back aches, took epsom bath which felt wonderful. Dreamed i was carrying around two old plates of spaghetti in a golf bag.
2nd day - OMG Horrible. Burning sinusy headache, mucous overload, blew my nose to the point of rawness. Took a saline nose flush, that helped. It was like a bad cold. I didn't use my inhaler as much today:) The headache were probably a result of the last STarbuck white mocha binge I had. My jaw was on edge too. a little pain
But today, today was a good day. I had a pain in between my shoulder and neck and I was a little spacey other than that I have made it through another night.

Greetings everyone,
Well today is Day 2 of my 2nd or 3rd MC (well the 2nd one only lasted a day - should I count it lol).
Day 1 : am and early pM I was feelin euphoric, then by the evening I went to watch my friends have dinner, and everything they said aggitated me but in a nice way. I didn't feel hunger pangs at all though. I had my lemonade and a cup of mint tea which I pretended was soup and ate with a teaspoon so I could feel 'part' of the evening !
Day 2: Ran out of Madal Bal, went to get more but nowhere had any, could not find Grade B so got organic dark amber no2. Headachy - but only because I didn't have the lemonade till 7 hours after I awoke.
As soon as I drank it I felt fine, Have lost 3lbs so far.
Love and encouragement to everyone

Hello everyone!!!
This is my first time here at the message boards. I'm SO hoping I get some support here to get through this! :)
I am on Day 2 of my second Master Cleanse. The first time I only lasted 3 days sooooo I'm hopeful this time will be better! (The first time I think I did everything wrong so I'm more prepared this go round)
Day 1: was a breeze for me! I was shocked! Only once did I feel hungry and that was while I was at work and it was lunch time  but other than that, I just drank my lemonade and it went away. I can handle large amounts of cayanne, so i really added it. I've noticed that the cayanne "burning" really helps me. (hey whatever distraction works huh?) lol
Day 2: has been a little more difficult. I woke up with a headache, and I'm noticing my back is hurting today as well. On top of that I've been having a little heart burn. On the plus side, I'm not really hungry so thats good....but with nothing to help take my mind off of the detoxing, I came here...please tell me someone out there is feeling the day 2 detox blues!!! :D

Hello Lemonheads!
It is day 4 for me, and I'm doing OK. During all my subsequent fasts I was very hungry and craving all sorts of things that I normally don't eat, but this fast I am craving nothing! Its really weird, and very encouraging. I've been working out this time around and I see that Its taking alot out of me, I look like the walking dead, but feeling ok. 8)
Keep it up everybody!

Day one for me. I'm really not sure I can do this for 10 days. I hope I make it past day 3 at this point. The cayenne reallllly bothers me. I tried to do a "shot" of cayenne in about an ounce of water before drinking my lemonade. Won't do that again LOL. Talk about burn! I so wish I could take cayenne capsules, it would make it so much easier to go the full 10 days. I also prefer the true lemonade taste of using the agave, so will probably stick with that instead of the maple syrup.
I had the Chocolate Smooth Move tea last night and again this morning. The SWF kind of scares me.
I've felt pretty normal today, no aches or pains yet, but the day isn't over yet.

I completed a thirty day master cleanse last Wednesday. I lost 25 pounds and feel so much better. My digestion feels so much better than it did before my master cleanse. I feel like I am really digesting my food now. My tongue never did turn pink though during the cleanse but I thought thirty days was a good first master cleanse so I stopped anyway.
It wasn't too hard to do because I was snowed in anyway so I stayed home the whole time. I was gentle with myself ...took lots of epsom salt and ginger powder baths, rested, watched some movies and did a lot of reading and some painting as well.

Hi everybody!
I'm back for round 3 tomorrow. Got all of my supplies together and will have my lax tea tonight. I'm really feeling sluggish and weighed down by not eating all that well lately. I know this cleanse will help me press the restart button and get on a positive track again.
I'm so glad you're all out there, and am looking forward to checking in tomorrow and seeing how you're all doing.
Happy cleansing!

Hi All,
Day 4. I felt absolutely wonderful when I woke up, I was energetic throughout the day. Only issue for today is that i want food in my mouth, lol. Inhaler usage is still minimal, I coughed up a little phlegm today and my lungs feel way clearer. I just feel like something in body has changed, Its like I feel when I stop eating sugar and carbs. My dreams are vivid and I know I need to write them down and analyze them, but huh i dont feel like it.
Anyway I hope all is well with you guys and keep looking toward goal. :D

Day 10 and feeling great. Had a beautiful day yesterday here in PA, so I was out working in the yard most of the day. No symptoms whatsover. My biggest problem is still looking at the awesome dinners, no matter how simple they be, that I make for my family. Last night was tacos. Who knew tacos could look and smell so good? I'm not even Mexican! I'm not hungry at all. Only when I see food do I miss the taste! Whether it be a late night commercial, whatever. Food still looks damn good and I can't wait to get back to it. We are leaving for Easter vacation next Wed. It will be my 3rd day off the cleanse and I will be eating a sub in the car on the way to my brothers. Sorry, but I've been dreaming about it for days. 6 pm eastern time, wed april 8th, brockoli will be eating a sub. i hope my stomach can handle it, because i know my mind can. Whoever posted the dream about the spaghetti in the golf bag--thanks for the good laugh. I dream weird stuff all the time, so it's nice to hear somebody else out there has some whacked out dreams! It's chilly and rainy here today, so I'm going to fix myself a cup of peppermint tea and do some laundry. Have a great day everybody!

Hi Everyone
I have just started my 2nd MC, I am currently on Day 3. The first time I lasted 8 days and broke my fast eating crackers. I didn't even enjoy eating them that much, and I promised myself I would break this fast with something more appetizing like fruit :p. After the first MC I took a vacation for 2 weeks to Europe, and well I ate pretty lousy. Lots of bread, pasta, & gelato (its on every corner in Italy!) and my diet has been downhill since then. Anyways i'm having some difficulty on Day 3, I would really like to grab some lunch today. I don't have any pains but my stomach feels so empty. I hope reading everyone's responses will help me get through Day 3.

Hey Carol, THANKS for the support!!!
I woke up today and feel WONDERFUL! better than I have in a long time...and its only Day 3! :)
Normally I am not so much a morning person, but today I woke up and was refreshed, and not even the slightest bit annoyed! lol Then I get to work, and there are donuts!!! Dun dun duuuuuuunnnnn... but I just kept walking by and drank some lemonade instead. Suprisingly I'm not hungry at all.
Somewhere on here I read someone say that this is seriously only a very short time span and we can make it! I have kept repeating that to myself whenever I get a craving. I started this with my sister, and she has already quit on me :( but I'm not even considering that at all.
I also bought a subliminal message CD to listen to at night as I am going to sleep...its full of positive affirmations....and I think that may be helping too....whatever it is it's working for me! I have had a history of depression, so this mood was unexpected and GREAT!
Sorry to ramble y'all but today is definitely a good day for me...STAY STRONG EVERYONE!!!!!!!

I am on day 7. My goal which will be a breeze is 10 days. I may continue if I feel that I should. I really have not had any bad symptoms. The only problem that I experienced is puffy eyes with the SWF. I actually did not do it yesterday to see if this was the culprit. No puffy eyes this morning so I am just going to do the Smoothe Move each night unless someone can convince me of the necessity of the SWF. I get a better result from the herbal tea anyway. My energy level is good. I mowed more than 1/4 acre yesterday with a push mower, pulled and bagged weeds for about an hour, then cleaned my house. So, no problem with the energy level. I get hunger pangs occassionally but the lemonade eliminates them. I haven't dreamt of food yet that I remember but was also thinking about mexican food. Actually, I am really looking forward to the vegetable soup that I plan to eat on the second day post fast. I am down to 120 pounds. I think I started around 125/126. I am sooo surprised that I have been able to stick with this cuz I quit stuff a lot. Just hang in there ALL and remember, the food will be there when you finish. Just think of how you are helping your body rest from the assault that we inflict upon it year after year. It will reward you for the TLC.

So far so good. Just going day by day but would like to make it 10 days ... after that hopefully I can add a few days depending on how I am doing.
Good luck to everyone :)

This morning is my marks my third day of my first ever fast. Only last night did I feel like caving, but the feeling subsided. But one thing I am worried about is that I seem to have swelling in my fingers. I mean, I already have chubby fingers, but the swelling in them is obvious to me. I don't have swelling in my legs or feet. I'm worried that if it doesn't go away by Friday that I should quit. Can anyone give me pointers or advice.

Hey Garlic and Pebb123,
I started Day 1 today too! My husband is doing it with me, but he's not as dedicated as I am. So perhaps we can support each other through this cleanse...? This will be MC #3 for me, and I was supposed to start yesterday -- but there's a funny story behind why it became a false start and my real start is today.
For some reason, I feel so unmotivated despite that I really want to do this again. It's only day 1 and I'm having horrible cravings and thoughts of not going through with it. It shouldn't be like this on day 1!! Usually I'm super motivated, and it's Day 3 and 4 where I feel like completely giving in. Anyway, I'm already sensing the struggle... I definitely will be needing support. This forum is sooo incredibly great for that. Whenever I'm feeling weak, I always come back here and revisit all of the testimonials and experiences that motivate me to do it, and I'm back.
Good luck to all!
Happy April Fool's day!

I do believe that this is good for me and I appreciate the discepline but I am on day 3 (after a six day fruit and veggie induction) and I am doing it all on self will. The salt water in the morning makes me nausious and with the cayenne in the drink I can only drink sips at a time. I barely make myself get to six 10 oz glasses so I can keep going through my day and my work outs. I am very hungry!!
I appreciate all the benifits and I am inspired to eat cleaner, ut is anyone else struggling this way?

Greetings All, Day 1 for me for my 5th cleanse. I did one Jan 2 and here we are 3 months later doing the spring cleaning. I'm excited to be doing it even though I know tough times are ahead. Well here I am again on day 1 of my fourth cleanse. I haven't done it in a while and I'm a little nervous. Out of habit, I went right over and make a cup of coffee this morning. I did realize I couldn't drink and tossed it out. I'm shooting at more than 10 days and hopefully it will go well.

Ok, my hands are calming down. I drank a lemonade to soothe my fears. I think I was having a bit of a panic attack. So I run here to the computer to hide with my cleansing friends while my family is eating roast pork. I can smell it like a hound dog, but at least I don't have to stare at it.

HELP!!! I am at the end of my 7th day. Later today is the first time that I wanted to throw the towel in and start breaking the fast. I am shooting for 10 days but dont know now. The only thing I did differently is NOT do the SWF because of puffy eyes plus I drank a cup of herbal peppermint tea. I also was looking at recipes for raw food meals and veggie soup. Maybe that did it. I am starting to crave food. I was able to ignore it before. I also have read that the longer that folks stay on this that later in the fast they start to pass ugly, black thingys. Is this true? If I have ugly, black thingys in me that need to be expelled I want to hang in a bit longer. Anyone experience this?

Well, day 3 is nearing an end, and I can't believe how much better my attitude is today than yesterday! I do feel hungry occasionally, but it does go away when I drink the lemonade. The only bad thing today is my lower back/kidneys ache. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal? I really feel like I can do this. I don't feel like much besides yellow water is coming out of me though, so I hope that is ok. Hope everyone is doing good - hang in there!:)

Day 5 and I wanna eat dammit! *sigh* My job had free barbecue with all the fixings. And random food keeps popping in my head. Donut. Cinnamon Toast. Filet of Fish. LOL. I went to Walmart and bought some Lay's potato chips.... to take home to my husband and I made him eat them. He says he knows I must be dedicated cause I passed up the nestle toll house cookies that he baked last night and ate in front of me. Just cruel. Anyway, I will carry on and forward to see what the next days will bring. STAY STRONG.

Marsh--I am also a server, and serving SUCKS when you can't eat and have to look at all that awesome food. The plates look like artwork where I work, but I could pass up the flowers and fancy garnishes and just stick my face in the mashed potatoes! Food is AWESOME.
Day 11 for me, going for 14, and I feel much better today. The cold hand thing freaked me out a little yesterday, but after drinking another lemonade and a glass of water, I felt better. I came seriously close to eating some of the roast pork, because my cold hands made me think something was seriously going wrong. And that coupled with the nice browned fat on the edge of the pork almost made me cave. But I stayed strong. I am woman, hear me roar!
Hang in there everybody! It's nice to wake up each morning and know you made it thru all of yesterday's temptations! Gives me a real sense of accomplishment. Have a great day!

Day 1. Just getting started. I have read both books several times and spent hours on this board. I do have one question. I see repeatedly Peter says not to change the regimen at all. I have been a raw foodist for 9 months now and for 2 months have been "oil pulling" to try and improve my teeth. They are getting whiter, so it is working! (I swish a tablespoonful of sesame oil in my mouth first thing in the morning for 20 minutes. Then spit it out.) Will I hinder the cleanse if I continue to do this? Thanks for any input.

Carol---I too get kidney pains. I know I don't drink enough water regularly, so if nothing else, this cleanse makes me drink alot of water. Can't say they really hurt. Just a dull achy feeling. But I'm sure they need a good rinsing, and this is doing them good. I've had them most of my cleanse, but it's about the only real detox symptom I've had. Kicked the caffeine habit a while back. I'm really rather good to myself as far as not smoking, no drugs (even tylenol) etc. But I tend to put too much SUGAR into my system! Hopefully that kidney pain will pass soon for you. Just power washing the insides, thats all! I'm still dying for raw almonds. Don't know why. Just bought a bag for next week!

carol: look at the newbie thread about detox (symptoms and detox cycle) and an article about "the healing crisis".
http://therawfoodsite.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1154
The first 3 days are the hardest and generally involved muscle pain. The science behind is described somewhere.
I normally start a little achey and end up w/ lower back/kidney pain later on my hard detox day. i take it as a good sign that the stored toxins are being processed out of me.

Hello Everyone: This is my first cleanse and everything is going very well. This is day 4 for me. I bought the book 6 or 8 months ago and I am not sure why it took me so long to start but I am thankful that I have. I decided to take the week before to get myself prepared. I stared with all veggies and fruit and one carb and one white meat serving per day. I'm glad I did because the caffine, sugar and red meat cravings and withdrawl systems (head and body aches) were intense. I was on all fruits and veggies by day 5 of my pre week. Day 1 was was great! I know it's been said millions of times before but it's crazy that you really don't feel hungry. Day 2 was fine and Day 3 I felt so great I think I over did it. I did an ION foot cleanse that pulls toxins out from your feet in a foot bath and got an adjustment from the Chiropractor. It all felt good but I was really tired today and slept all morning. Besides feeling a little slow I feel WELL!!!! A feeling that I haven't had in a very long time.
Question: The SWF is a little difficult to swallow. The taste is not great. Today I added the juice of half a lemon and it was very very tasty. Is this acceptable? Thanks for your input.

Hi Fellow Lemonheads!
Day 4 for me and all is progressing along well. Had a slight headache on day 1, I assume it was coffee withdrawals as I am addicted to a couple of strong cups of coffee in the morning, but I have been fine since.
I just got back from Sporting Clays shooting and passed the temptation to have the usual cold beer by just sipping on my lemonade. When you are feeling weak or having cravings remember just drink some more of you lemonade smoothie and you will soon feel much better.
Have a great evening everyone!!!

I am finishing day 8. Cant believe that I got past 7. I have only really felt some detox symptoms on day 7 and was ready to quit. They were mild though, a little stuffiness, head felt fuzzy, more hunger pangs. Of course, I was looking at recipes, so go figure. Started back on the SWF after going without it for 2 days. Felt it was making my eyes puffy. I switched to celtic salt. For those who cannot stand the SWF, try the Celtic Salt. It has a much milder taste, works well and my eyes were not puffy. It's no more salty tasting than canned soup. I weighed in at 119 today. Started out around 125/126. So about a pound per day. I'm doing it primarily to detox, not to lose weight but I do feel better when I am lighter. My energy level was good today. I actually feel better than when I eat and I eat a fairly healthy diet. Well, tomorrow is day 9, going to 10 days. Cant wait for my vegetable soup. Hang in ALL!!!!

Day 6
I realized that the way I felt yesterday was a detox symptom. I was craving and irritable and pissed at the people around me eating. It was more of a psychological symptom, I suppose. Today was great though. More free food at work! YAY! They gave me a surprise birthday party even though my birthday was on March 13th, helloooo! WTH was that. If I was a conspiracy theory nut, I'd swear someone was out to get me. :p Nonetheless I carry, on. Moving on to much talked about day 7. Wish me luck.

Marsh--
Today the restaurant was NOT kind to me. For one, they NEVER feed us. But for some
reason today, they were throwing food at us. One item was a chocolate hazelnut whoopie
pie that was filled with some kind of peanut butter cream. Looked like homemade whipped cream, and the whoopie pie was dark dark chocolate with little crackles in the cake, and super moist.
Like the best damn whoopie pie on the planet. And my friends were doing a virtual test for me
so I could describe it to my customers. And they said it was the best damn dessert they ever put out there. I mean desserts are not their strong point. The entrees are to die for. But that thing looked so freaking good I wanted to cry. Anyway, I'm getting ready to make my lax tea. Another day is done, and I'm marching on toward my Wed. 6pm sub.

Hey everyone, This is day 3, yay. I'm feeling a little tired and I have aching in my calves, but I know it's just a detox symptom that will pass. SWF a little hard to take this morning, but it got done and it's doing the trick. I know for me that this is the best thing that I could be doing right now. Strength to all, A-

Just got to work and I feel like I'm going pass out and vomit, not to mention my head is banging :( Despite this I have no intention of stopping....but I have every intention of going to sleep the second I get home today. This is the worst day by far I have ever had on any of my fasts. hopefull that means I'll be getting rid of some bad stuff!
Hey Brockoli...that whoopie pie sounds amazing, good thing I feel like crap today or I'd be drooling on my keyboard :)

Day 6
I realized that the way I felt yesterday was a detox symptom.
Conspiracy Theory...LOL! That was so funny...thanks for the laugh. :) Wishing you well on day 7. Keep up the good work!

I am on day 1, again. :( It should have been day 3 for me, but yesterday I was at work (taking care of 9 elderly ladies) and my head started hurting sooooooo bad! I've had migraines less painful than this. I was desperate, out of lemonade, and thinking food might make it feel better. I ate a few bites of lunch. It did help, but only for an hour or so and then it was back. I came home and took IB Profin and slept for a few hours.
So, now I feel like I'm starting on day 1, again. I'm disappointed in myself, but more prepared now. I'm going to take IB Profin for the pain till it subsides and take extra lemonade in case I need it. I have no work today and no college so I think it will be a good day to cleanse.
My bf is a massage therapist and she's offered to help get these toxins moving. Has anyone else had a stutter at the beginning and had to restart? I wish everyone a pain free day! Cara

Day 5 for me!!! I have never lasted this long on the cleanse, so I am stoked.
Day 4 was the worse for me with cravings, and although I drank all my glasses of lemonade, I went to bed with a growling stomache lol but yesterday at work I saw someone I havent seen in a while and he couldnt stop commenting that I was glowing...I must attribute this to the Cleanse! I was suprised. I know I feel better, but was amazed that others could tell a difference.
Anyway...keep it up everyone! It'll be over before you know it!

Day 2. I have a problem. I just found out that I have to fly on Tuesday, which will be Day 6. I have done a lot of reading and searching on this forum and it seems that Days 5-8 can be heavy detox days. I can't be in a heavy detox day in airports and on airplanes, so I am thinking I need to stop now and start again after the trip. I would appreciate some counsel on this. Thanks so much.
Annie
BTW: Day 1 was fine - no hunger and no big detox symptoms.

Hang in there Info! I know all about the dreaded day 7. For my cleanse in February, I took the first few days off of work, and had a weekend in the middle of those days, so my first day back was on Day 7! Not the bes timing, for sure. I figured maybe 7 being a toughy was not always the case for everyone (and I'm sure that's still true), but it was not the best day for me to come back to work.
Don't worry, you'll get through it and be home in your bed before you know it. And hey, at least it's Friday! :D

Well today is day 10 for me...I am going 1 more day and then I will start with the OJ. I must admit I have been kinda freaked out with people's comments on the "Breaking the Fast" board. I am going to follow the post-fasting recommendations to a T. Does anyone know a store that sells fresh squeezed OJ? I am going to try Whole Foods tomorrow.
Purify - I don't think you can get 100% fresh squeezed OJ anywhere short of a juice bar. Any of the bottled versions will be at least lightly pasteurized. Your absolute best option is to buy some oranges and fresh squeeze them yourself prior to each OJ drink (same as you did with the lemons for the lemonade).
Congrats on completing your fast, and enjoy your delicious FRESH OJ! :D

Cara-
Don't feel bad, just get back on track and stick with it this time! Honestly, I think if you can just make it past day 3 it does get somewhat easier. One thing though, from everything I have read on here, I don't think it is a good idea to take the ibuprofen. That is basically just putting more chemicals, toxins, etc. back into your body, which defeats the purpose, since that is what we are trying to flush out during this cleanse. I am on day 5 myself, and although I am feeling a little sluggish today, and still suffering kidney pain, (I posted about that yesterday and got some very helpful responses), at least I'm not hungry! I had a terrible headache all day on day 2, among other detox symptoms, but by day 3 the pain was gone. Just hang in there kid, you can do it!

Hey Everyone!
I am on day 3 today...and the first 2 were absolutely brutal, from the cravings to the SWF it was a struggle to get here. This morning I had convinced myslef on the way to work that this was crazy and i was going to have a veggie sub for supper. Well I am on my supper break now, and actually feel great-stomach is grumbling a bit so I am about to mix up some more lemonade-but no sub for me today! I will be taking things one day at a time from here....:o This board is really what helps me get thru tough times, so thanks for being there everyone!!
I still DREAD the SWF every morning, only did half this morning, but a straw reallyt did help..
keep it up -stay strong and I will try to do the same!

Thanks again to everyone for the help. Completed day 20 yesterday and I'm getting ready for the orange juice in a bit.
Just wondering: are we suppose to strain the pulp or should it be left in there? Or perhaps strain it for the first cup and leave it in for the remaining cups?
Thanks!

Anniez, I would not stop the fast. I am finishing day 9 of my first cleanse. My only slightly difficult day was day 7 and wasn't really bad. I am a flight attendant and do have to go back to work tomorrow on day 10 then coming home on the first day of breaking my fast on day 11. I am not worried. I am going to bring some lemonade with me and a plastic bottle of oj to drink on the flight home. Dont quit. You've already gone this far. I am feeling quite good but still cant wait to eat some warm veggie soup for a change. I will definately do this again. It was really a breeze overall since I love the taste of the spicey lemonade. Hang in there!!!

AnnieZ--I wouldn't quit. Everybody has different bad days. How do you know that the day you fly won't be the easiest for you. There will ALWAYS be an excuse that you should quit for a party, picnic, trip, friends visiting, etc. Just keep going one day at a time. You'll make it. Who wants to start over??? You already have 2 of the hardest days down! Keep goin' girl.

Yea I agree, Anniez you should not quit. You may be fine.
Day 7 - What is all this i heard about day 7? That it is bad. I had the best day on this fast on my day 7. It was weird cause I had too much energy and I was zipping around and talking fast. I know my co-workers were wondering what i had taken. Lemonade Baby! I had some bad news at work today and I was able to deal with it very tolerantly. (not at all like me) So anyhoo, I wish all encouragement, less pain and lemonades.:)
Oh yea I couldn't drink my lemonades at work cause I forget my cayenne pepper. I tried to get some pepper from an Italian restaurant, they gave me some, like the kind you find in the pizza box or in the shaker. Umm yea, didn't make for good lemonade, so i am catching up now.

Anyway, I'm winding down tonight. I'm baking some cookies for my kids and want to devour them. :)Sweets have always been my weakness. I've really done well on this fast. I feel revived and renewed. I'm going to keep pressing forward!!!

Hi cheyne1982,
I don't know what type of salt your are using for the SWF, but by far the VERY BEST salt to use is "Celtic Grey Sea Salt" also named "Celtic Grey Sea Minerals". It is a product of France and can be found at your local health food store. It is very mild tasting and certainly not like the harsh salty taste of regular table salt. It comes in fine and coarse granules; I buy the fine as it dissolves faster. I mix it in a 4 cup measuring cup and then microwave it for 1 1/2 minutes so it is luke warm and then drink it down and it really tastes like chicken soup broth. Please try it and see if it doesn't make it much easier to handle the SWF.
Best of luck!!!!!

Hello again: This is day 5 of my first MC and everything is wonderful. I am full and really not hungry but I sure would like to taste something good to eat. I had asked a question and didn't get a reply. I hope someone can help.
Does anyone know if it's ok to add the juice of 1/2 a lemon to the SWF? I can drink it without it but it takes me about 35 to 45 minutes to get it down. With the lemon juice it's down in less than 5. I read that some people said it is alright to add soy sauce. So will the same principle apply to the lemon juice?
Also, I am taking ion foot cleanses with the MC and this may be what is helping me detox without the nasty symptoms.

Actually, I had a situation like Shanhugs above. My bday was 3/21, and my boss decided to celebrate it on Tuesday -- my original day 1.
Long story short - I started again on Wednesday, but on the bright side, I recruited my husband. So we've both been cleansing since Weds. I can't help but keep thinking about how I could be on Day 4, but instead am only on Day 3. Oh well -- it's all for the best!

I'm on day 4 and kinda taking it easy. I'm eating one raw meal a day for a week because I didn't prepare properly for this cleanse. I will finish this out and then do the cleanse as written.
Even "taking it easy" I have horrible detox symptoms that are making it impossible to function normal. I am about 80 lbs overweight and had a lot of bad habits. I kinda wonder if I'm just dragging this detox out by doing it this way. I am now having joint pain all down the right side of my body. (knee, hip, back, and wrist) along with a headache that is local to the right side of my head. Funny, but I sleep on that side and I think maybe things settle there??? The headache gets severe once in awhile and at first I took IB Profin to help, but I'm going to try and get thru this without assistance. I've called into work for the next 2 days. Hopefully things get a little better.

Good Morning! :)I am now on day 6 and I woke this morning feeling amazing! (after i went to the bathroom, that is) The kidney pain I have experienced for the past 2 1/2 days is finally gone, yay! Of all the detox systems I've had, that was the worst. The pain radiated down into my hips and thighs, and I was so uncomfortable, it kept me up all night, the night before last. But- its gone now!:D
I must say that heating up the SWF makes it sooo much better. That was a great idea Ratton! It does taste like chicken broth when you have a cold and can only taste the saltiness. It went down so much easier, and I also think it "works" better too, when it is warm. Hope everyone has a great day!

Jan- glad to here you are doing wonderful! I am on day six of my first MC, and I have to say, it's only gotten easier, as time goes on. In answer to your ?? about lemon juice in the SWF- from everything I have read on this site- you are not supposed to add anything to the SWF. Something about the exact combination ratio of water to salt, makes it the same weight as blood- I believe I read that in Peter Glickman's book. Also read that no soy sauce is allowed- that was a direct answer from Peter to someone's question. He basically states that it is best not to alter the MC in anyway, if you want the best results. One thing you might do that helps- it was suggested by Ratton, above, to heat up the SWF in the microwave. I did it this AM, and it was so much easier to get down! Hope this helps! Keep up the good work!

Day 13--Yipppeeee!! One more day to go! Today will be pretty busy. I have my 6 yr. olds bday party....20 kids in our basement for a carnival! Then I have to go straight to work tonight. I have to say...yesterday was kind of bad. I was so busy running around getting ready for the party, that I hardly drank any lemonades. I'm almost embarrassed to say. Time just got away from me. I'm still following the diet perfectly otherwise. Always do my lax tea at night, swf in am, and haven't so much as licked a finger of food. But my biggest challenge has been the amt of lemonades. I feel energetic and strong. I'm just afraid I'm not washing out as much as I should. But I feel great and can't wait to transition to something with taste other than salt or lemon. I fear I might not love lemon meringue pie anymore (it's my fav!). We have our first house showing tomorrow (before it's even on the market) so cleaning up the carnival should keep me busy, so I'm hoping my last day will be a breeze. Have a great weekend everybody!

Day 8 for me! So happy to be nearing the end of my 10 days. I haven't been hugely hungry but I have had some serious cravings. And day 6 was my roughest day yet. The results keep me going though, it's amazing how the mc can cause such dramatic changes in so short a time. In just 8 days I'm so much trimmer than I've been in the last 3 years at least, and am feeling pretty good.

Hi Annie, It's too bad you have to stop after all your hard work so far! To be more specific about my day 6 I found my legs were achy and I had a mild yet persistent headache. I hadn't experienced the achy legs prior to day 6 but have had the headache on and off throughout my 8 days. So day 6 wasn't great but it wasn't a huge deal, no more uncomfortable than having a sore throat/cold (along with some food cravings).
We're all different so my experience may not be yours, but just wanted to clarify what my symptoms were as in my above post I called it "my roughest day yet" and I hope that didn't deter you.

Hi all, Day 4 for me. Feeling pretty good. I had hoped to have a little more energy by now, but each cleanse is different and I'll just roll with it. I'm still having a little aching in my legs. Not as bad as my second cleanse in '08. That was so bad that I decided to do some research on it and discovered the reason for the pain is because we store much of our toxins in our legs. Pain in your legs tells you that you're moving poisons out. Drink lots of water to help your body flush. Stay strong everyone.

good morning! I hope everybody is doing well.
back after a bit of a hiatus trying to get it together...I'm back on the cleanse and this is the morning of day four, exactly when it fell apart last time. I'm on my last day or two worth of lemons and I need to go get more spring water, but I should be able to do that tonight. I feel fine, I'm sipping my swf right now. The only time I struggle is late afternoon/early evening, I'm not sure why. The only things I'm doing during that time usually are either waking up from a nap or finishing a workout, and I have cravings no matter how much i chug the lemonade. I think I'm just going to go ahead and make a bunch of it at 3ish each day to be prepared for this. Anyways, I'm looking forward to progressing! Take care everyone.

Thank you carol_m519 for the input. I will try to heat it tomorrow. As for the acid butt pee, I'm thinking it may be from an excessive amount of candida leaving the system. I have started drinking more spring water to try to dilute the acid affect. I don't know why but it is so encouraging to know others are out there with you in the struggle for optimum health. Are you doing 10 days are are you trying for longer? My original goal was 10 but now I may just keep it up as long as I can.

Greetings Lemonheads. I'm on day four and have learned the hard way that grey sea salt is the best. I used grey on my last cleanse, but for variety I tried the pink ancient sea salt instead. It has not been a welcomed change. My body has not really let go of the SWF today as of yet. The process took all day yesterday, but today I am laying low at home on my day off and have a whopper of a belly ache right now. Any suggestions? I love coming back to this board for each cleanse and if any one wants a buddy or cheerleader, just let me know. After my last cleanse I did a month or raw and look forward to being rawsome about food after this cleanse too. Yuck, my stomach is nasty. What do you guys think about drinking the lax tea today to move things along? I'll check in later. Hugs, -d

That will be 7 days for me, and now I wish I could keep going, because I'm seeing such unbelievable results! I never would have dreamed it was possible for me to do this, and here it is day 6. I am going to do this again in 2-3 months for 10 days or longer, and at that time my boyfriend wants to try it with me. When I say "normal diet" I mean I am looking forward to eating a healthier diet than I have in the past- with lots of fruit and veggies! Oh wow I'm hungry thinking about it! ooooohhhhhhhh......
i'm on day 4, today, and yes....yes...danceshine- i need a cheerleader, and a buddy, and anything else that might help! i am having such serious thoughts of quitting. i miss eating! i know this is emotional, because i've put on about 15 extra pounds over the past few months. my life is very challenging right now. and it's funny, because one of the reasons i decided to do this cleanse right now was to clean out, loose the weight, gain some mental clarity and take a step back to figure out some things.
it feels better just to write right now. my plan was to go 21 days and then transition to a mostly raw, healthy diet, which i have done before. then i started thinking, oh, i'll just go for 10 days, and then my thinking went to, oh, maybe i should just start the raw right now.....and stop the cleanse. i know i would be so disappointed in myself if i quit now, though.
i'm rambling. thank you all who took the time to read this! i'm not quitting now, it's almost time for my lax tea in a few hours. maybe i'll flush all of this thinking out tomorrow.....
hope you all are hanging in there!

ps.- danceshine- i think i'd probably have some tea if i was still holding the salt water. i don't think it would hurt, but that's just my opinion. i always feel uneasy in the morning the hour after drinking it before it flushes out. i say listen to your body.... hope that helps!

i'm on day 4, today, and yes....yes...danceshine- i need a cheerleader, and a buddy, and anything else that might help! i am having such serious thoughts of quitting. i miss eating! i know this is emotional, because i've put on about 15 extra pounds over the past few months. my life is very challenging right now. and it's funny, because one of the reasons i decided to do this cleanse right now was to clean out, loose the weight, gain some mental clarity and take a step back to figure out some things.
it feels better just to write right now. my plan was to go 21 days and then transition to a mostly raw, healthy diet, which i have done before. then i started thinking, oh, i'll just go for 10 days, and then my thinking went to, oh, maybe i should just start the raw right now.....and stop the cleanse. i know i would be so disappointed in myself if i quit now, though.
i'm rambling. thank you all who took the time to read this! i'm not quitting now, it's almost time for my lax tea in a few hours. maybe i'll flush all of this thinking out tomorrow.....
hope you all are hanging in there!
marsh
ps.- danceshine- i think i'd probably have some tea if i was still holding the salt water. i don't think it would hurt, but that's just my opinion. i always feel uneasy in the morning the hour after drinking it before it flushes out. i say listen to your body.... hope that helps!
Hang in there Marsh! I totally understand how you feel- I was like that on day 3, all I did was cry all day. It was like I was mourning the end of a relationship (I guess I was - Mine with food, lol) Anyhow, you know you can do this- and it will all be worth it in the end! Good lucK!

Gosh, it's been a while sine my last fast. I'm starting one tomorrow. My best fast (and I've done a few) was the very first one I did in April two years ago. So, April it is.

This is my third MC, I'm now approaching day 3. This time round, I have been lucky enough so that the laxative took effect on day 1, normally I have to wait until a SWF to get things going.
I know this will pass, it's happened before, but I am SO cold despite having the heating on full whack, the one thing I hate about the MC is the drop in body temperature, I normally "feel the cold" at the best of times but cleansing makes it all the more acute :(

day 8 - nothing to report. good day. i went shopping for after the fast!
After I drank more lemonade yesterday, I did experience some detox symptoms leg and arm aching. And I got extremely sleepy.
So they tried to get you guys with the food @ work too?
My experience with the SWF is 1. I need it to be warm. 2. I drink it from a bowl to pretend it's soup. Got that from A & A who posted on here. 3. If i add to much salt that is when I want to throw it back up. 4. I hate being at the mercy of the toilet for an hour and half or longer.
By the way if you need the lemon, just lick it in between gulps.

Hi all, Day 5 for me, hump day! Doing ok, still a little achy in the legs, but I feel more energetic today so I will get on the treadmill and that usually makes the ache leave.
Danceshine-If things don't move after the swf, just drink 1 or 2 glasses of luke warm water. That'll do the trick, for sure!
I went to a party last night, which I was dreading, but it went well. I brought one of my lemonade drinks in a travel mug and sipped it and listened to the band and chatted with people and kept my eyes off the food. I had fun but I'm glad that's behind me. Thank you everyone for being here.

All I want to do is get more sleep! Instead I am about to jump in the shower and go into work for overtime. Day five and I have been in and out of the bathroom all night. Not feeling very rested at the moment. Hope the SWF this morning takes care of most of that buisness. Had a killer headache last night too. Started a couple of hours before bed and at the same timeI was feeling quite negative. We've had a house guest staying with us this weekend too; didn't find out about that one until day two into my cleanse. It has been okay, except last night he was in the pantry eating up the near last of my dried persimmons. Which happen to be my favorite snack, and that I have been savoring for some time because they are almost gone. Being on the cleanse and feeling irritable I didn't know how to put anything constructive out there, so I didn't. Don't like feeling so selfish.
Here's to a fresh start on day 5 though. Hope work flies by and my headache/grumpiness is flushed away down the toilet shortly. See ya!

tiller09: No, it wasn't just what you posted. I just feel it was too chancey to be strapped in an airplane seat (with the seatbelt sign lit!) and having to get to the bathroom. Air travel is so stressful under the best of circumstances. I didn't want the added stress of not knowing how my body would be acting! As I said before, I am highly motivated and I will be back!
Thanks everybody!

Hello Everybody!
I am starting the master cleanse today! I am very excited, I ate way too much yesterday so if anyone is having trouble let me share how I feel. My face is all puffy, my stomach is bloating I am uncomfortably full and I have horrible heartburn even after a full nights sleep! I am looking forward to all the extra time and energy I will get on the cleanse, I am also looking forward to all your help and camaraderie

Day 14 of 14!!! HA-LELUJIAH. HALLELUJAH. HALLELUJAH. HA-LEEEEE-LU-JAH. I am so freaking excited to be almost done this. I have to say, it's been a surprisingly easy ride for not eating for 14 days. But I am really craving some protein. I think I've kicked the sugar cravings. But I want some MEAT and I want it now!! I feel like a cave man. I just want to club a saber-toothed tiger and drag him into my cave!! I'm feeling very primal. But I know meat is still a few days away. But the OJ tomorrow sounds exciting, nonetheless. I have a true confession to make. On Friday, I was busy running around for the party, and only got down 1 glass of lemonade. On Saturday (party day) I was so busy & had to run straight to work after the party, and had NO glasses all day. I know this is bad. I drank lots of water. I felt fine, but I know that's not good for you and I'm feeling pretty guilty. I had trouble the entire cleanse with getting down enough lemonade, but the last 2 days were really bad. I've still been drinking my tea at night & doing the swf in the morn. Have a great day everybody. I have to clean up the carnival party because we have our first showing at 3:00! Hopefully we'll sell this house before we even have it listed! Could be another stressful day!

Hi
This is my first Post. I wish I had found this forum days ago because the support, wisdom and candor is phenominal here. I am on my 4th cleanse, but my last one was about 9 years ago, and I don't remember much about it, but I think I ended it early; it would have gone better if I had felt I was a part of a team. (That accountability is the feeling one gets here.)
Anyway, I'm on day 5, after 1 month on an alkaline diet, which was good preparation for the MC. I wanted to see if this is typical: A phenomenon that I experienced for the past 2-3 days has been beyond irritability to anger:mad: really nasty anger that just isn't me. I'm thinking this must be a part of the cleansing, and hope it subsides soon before I end up in jail :p
So other than that crazy anger my experience has been pretty moderate, except that the cayenne really got to me this time. I got the 90,000 btu stuff instead of the regular stuff and ended up with sneezing, pouring mucous from nose and throat and nausea (that all lasted about 10 minutes), so I cut back to a tolerable amount. The lemonade seems to manage most of the hunger issues quite handily, and I enjoy the taste. Even the SWF isn't bad, but of course I knew what to expect even though my previous experiences were long ago.
It is very enjoyable reading the posts here. The best to all you lemonheads out there. keep up the good work.

Well here it is day 7 for me!:) When I first started this cleanse I knew that I could only do it for 7 days (8 at the most) because I am going on vacation:D early Thursday AM. Well, this being my first time, I assumed 7 days would be better than none at all. Now I'm sorry that I can't go at least the full ten days. As much as I am looking forward to this being overwith, I just kind of feel like I'm not really done yet with cleansing and detoxing my body, and I don't want to feel like all the effort I have made so far is for nothing. Like taking something out of the washer when it is only half clean- what good is that?! Last night I could hardly sleep because of pains in my abdomen, sort of like menstrual cramps, (which Ihavent had since I was a teenager) that radiated around to my lower back and into the tops of my thighs like a dragging feeling. I can only assume this is part of the detox? On the newbie thread the part about "detox symptoms- don't hate 'em" Peter says that most people don't experience aches and pains ( only ones that are severely toxic!!) so I guess that means I'm really not clean yet. This was supposed to be my last day, but I don't want to stop while I feel crappy, I want to stop when I'm feeling energized and good:confused:. So, I think I may just go one more day after this, and see. Hope everyone is doing well!

Day 7 is typically a detox day. The 10 days generally account for that and have people leaving during non-detox days. Like if you had an extended fast, 16 is better than 14, 23 is better than 21...
The timing is always a little hard when things get in the way. If you want to continue, then try tea in the morning instead of the swf. It's typically easier to manage the BM urges. If you don't, there's always another MC in a few months.

Greetings Everyone:
This is my Day 7 and other than feeling lazy, the day is starting out great!
Carol_m519: I tried heating the SWF today and it was better than cold but I still enjoy that extra lemon flavor. I will try licking the lemon instead of squeezing out the juice next time. Also, I'm sorry you're not feeling well but you are only felling the toxins leaving your body. One of your main reasons for doing the MC, so don't feel like you have done this in vein. Every bit of toxin out is better than remaining in. Plus think of it as washed and cleaner than before. Next time you can stay long enough to "add the fabric softener" ;) You've done a great job for yourself and your family. Have a great time on your vacation. I hope you get to try some new tasty and healthy dishes at your destination.
Brockoli: Way to go for 14 days!!!!! BRAVO BRAVO :) My hat is off to you and all others that have to work around food during the MC.
I can't even cook for my family. I have to go to another part of the house while the stove is on and make them wash the pots before they eat so the aroma doesn't linger. My stomach is full but my brain wants me to eat. I get mad cravings in the evening. On days 1 -4, I thought about good healthy meals and all of my favorite veggies. Now, if I hear a food commercial, I start salivating and ranting about how I'm going to go and get 2 servings of what ever it is. (My kids took my keys the other night) I'm really not going to go but I have to vent loudly (and drink more lemonade) to get rid of the feeling. I have tried to read as many past comments as I can but is there a book that has been referenced about the psychological aspects about the urge to eat, even when you're not hungry. This is a big part of my weight problem and the MC has allowed my eyes to be opened and focus on the fact that I eat and have desires to eat even when my body is satisfied. I would greatly appreciate any references. Thank you for the time to vent, I do feel better.
Have a great day everybody :)

I have been reading and researching this cleanse for a bit. I will begin next Monday after Easter. My only concern is the SWF and how it will affect me for my job. I can't just run to the restroom at the drop of a hat...or BM:) Is it possible to do the SWF at night and the tea in the morning?
Thanks!!

Hi Everyone,
This is my 1st post, so I apologize if its not done correctly.
I am beginning my 1st MC today. I have prepared myself the past month with slowly changing my eating habits and a fast.
This morning I did a SWF and it went fine. Then I mixed a daily allotment of the 'lemonade'. I then realized that I put 2 TBsp of cayenne pepper in it. Honestly, I can tolerate the taste.. But will this harm me?
Also, I was talking on the phone and got distracted while mixing tomorrows lemonade, and I think I am a few tbsp's short of maple syrup. I could add more but don't want to overdo it.
I know these are 'rookie' mistakes caused by distraction. But please give me advice! Thanks! Lol.

Hi all,
here on day 5 with a bit of bad news :( last night I broke down and had some baby carrots and a tangerine. I am beginning to concede that this is a bit of a dry-run or experiment now, and that the real cleansing will happen when I do the MC for real in the summer. It is just too much to try and do this during a busy school year at college with everything going on around me. Depending on how much $$ I have, I will start over again the monday after easter, I will see. I am still going to continue with what I am doing now and just go through until friday, which is/would be day 10. I am going to a friends house for easter weekend and I will see what the situation is monday. This is discouraging but I know that I what I am doing, even if it is not the cleanse by the book yet, cannot hurt.
I hope everybody is having a great day!

Great site - and wonderful support network here!
I am gearing up for my first MC tomorrow. I went out in style at the weekend and had a totally debauched saturday night of lots of alcohol, nicotine, cheese and high fat cooked food.
I eat raw all the time except for Saturday nights when I go mad!
I spent today feeling like utter pants but my usual raw diet soon sorted that out! God bless flax seed!
I'm off to bed in a moment clutching my laxative tea.
This is so exciting!

hi everyone!
so great to read all of your posts...wishing i could respond to all of you....
i feel so much better today, day 5. yesterday was really rough. i realized that i will NEVER quit when i am feeling so emotional and frustrated and wanting to eat so badly. i just rode out the storm, and can see today that certain circumstances in my life are really bothering me. so rather than looking at them objectively and soberly (not under the influence of too much food or crappy food) like i am today, if i had stopped the cleanse, i would have just swept those feelings under the carpet and moved on to some food to mask the discomfort. yay! i am still cleansing! i am so happy i stuck with it!
so, that being said, i really appreciate your post, MDONAGHUE, describing your puffy face and bloating, etc...ha! yea...that's right where i was headed! good luck with your cleanse, and happy detoxing!
HIONLIFE- welcome! this is a great place for support. i don't know know how i would make it without all of you. and i wouldn't worry too much about the anger. it's probably a detox symptom and you'll release it with a few swf's.
BROCKOLI- congrats and good for you! i wouldn't worry about the lack of lemonade at all. many people who do this cleanse take a day or two with water only, especially on longer cleanses. good job!
and to everyone else- stay strong and happy cleansing!

Day 11 and broke my fast this evening. I drank fresh squeezed oj until around 1 pm. I ate a raw veggie salad with 1/2 an avocado and 2 rye crackers, plus I have a pot of veggie soup in the crockpot. I also took a probiotic capsule. I felt great during this fast, my tongue is almost pink. I lost about 8 pounds. My skin is very nice and sleeping soundly. I have had lots of energy, clear headed, sinuses completely clear, no pains anywhere. I so wanted to continue for 14 days but have to return to work (travel for a living) and did not want to be breaking my fast during my trips. Too hard to carry fresh food for 6 days plus cant take food internationally. So, I am done for now. I plan to do this again early summer but this time I will definately invest in a citrus juicer. Best regards to everyone and hang in there. So worth it!

Hello to everyone!
Thanks to all for your support and helpful suggestions. Today was a little rough (day 7). I wound up going for a walk with my neighbor for 4.5 miles:eek: My legs are really aching now! I know the fresh air and exercise is good, though. Have been fantasizing lately about the food I'm going to eat when I'm done:o - it's funny though, because its mostly really good, healthy stuff I'm craving. Hope everybody has a good night!

Hi there!! Congrats! Lets be inspiration buddies!! Im starting mine tonight..how are you doing so far?
Day 1 almost over which is good because day 1 is always the worst for me. Mentally, I don't commit to the fast till day 2 and the hunger is the biggest on day 1. No headaches or aches yet.
Watching Iron Chef America. Somehow, I end up watching the Food Channel a lot while I fast.
My biggest worry is that I'm throwing a party at my house in a week. It will be a little awkward to serve food to guests and not eat any of it.

Hi Fellow lemonheads,
Today is day 7 for me and it has gone very smoothly! I got up at 6:45 so I would have enough time to do the SWF and have a couple of hours of house time (close to the toilet) before I ventured out. After that I went clay target shooting for the rest of the morning and in the afternoon I had a 90 minute Birkram Yoga class. This style of yoga is done in a heated room, 104* with 40% humidity and is designed to work every muscle, bone, joint, ligament, tendon, gland and organ in the body. You certainly sweat a lot of toxins out of your body doing this!!!
I haven't read the Forum for a couple of days and I was 5 pages behind! It is good to see so many new people just starting. Be prepared for some ups and downs as that is just part of the detox process and persevere for the minimum of 10 days as the journey is very beneficial!!
Keep smiling and drinking your lemonade!!

Hi brockoli,
Congratulations on 14 days of fasting. You have done 12 days of The Master Cleanse and 2 days of a water fast. Since you did not take the required minimum of 6 glasses of the lemonade daily you can not claim those 2 days as being on The Master Cleanse. Stanley Burroughs does not say anywhere in his book that a water fast is part of The Master Cleanse! On page 29 of his book he addresses water fasting and I quote part of what he writes: "The subject of water fasting often presents itself. I am very much opposed to several days or weeks of water fasting. It is too dangerous and is unnecessary to achieve the desired results of internal cleansing."
I only bring this up as there is a lot of misinformation out there about The Master Cleanse and I don't want someone reading your post and thinking it is an acceptable part of The Master Cleanse.
Fellow lemonheads please read Stanley Burroughs' book and Peter Glickman's book to get the real and accurate facts on The Master Cleanse, and if you have questions just ask because that is what this Forum is all about.

Best,
Ana
Hi Ana!
I apologize for taking so long to respond. I hope you are still around.
My MC experience has transformed my health. My goal has been to eliminate hypertension (HBP) or at least reduce my BP readings as close to normal as possible. Prior to the MC, I was on three medications. I visited my doctor on 3/31, after 19 mos. and no meds. He was amazed at my weight loss and more importantly my unmedicated BP reading. My reading wasn’t perfect but better than he expected. You see a sodium free cuisine and exercise had not eliminated the extra weight or reduced my BP.
On my first MC (40 days), At 5'9" tall, I weighed 186 lbs. (size 16-18, 39-37-43 ). By the end of the cleanse, 161 lbs. (size 10, 36-33-38 ). I kept a journal since I had discontinued my meds. Here’s what I wrote:
Day 3: emotional detox symptoms. BM after 30 minutes. Heart palpitations.
Day 6: wanted to eat for a fleeting moment.
Day 7: thought about food.
Day 8; increased cayenne.
Day 10: 180 lbs. Feel great. Walked 2 blocks in evening.
Day 11: food smelled good. Didn’t want any though.
Day 15 = 176 lbs. Feel great! Attended Al Green Concert. Up until after midnight.
Day 17 = Felt anxious after SWF.
Day 18 = No BM for 1:45:00.
Day 21 = 172.5 lbs. No BM for 1 hr.
Day 30 = 166.5 lbs. Tired of LA.
Day 34 = Difficult time drinking SWF.
Day 35 = Nauseous due to drinking SWF. Very difficult day. Tired.
Day 36 = 160 lbs. 50 oz. LA instead of 60 oz.
Day 37 = Forcing SWF. Same quantity of LA as Day 36. Don’t want to drink LA.
Day 38 = 55 oz LA and 2 c. mint tea.
Day 39/40 = 161 lbs. 50 oz LA and 1 c. mint tea each day. Counting my hours to end cleanse.
Now regarding the hectic life...I began this cleanse after five months on a new job. This was a career change after 30+ years. Since I left for work at 6:40 a.m each morning, I got up at 4:15 a.m. to complete my SWF. Since my drive to work is 65 miles one-way, a reverse commute, two-hours round trip, I joined a two-person car pool. Home life: Mother of a 14 yr-old son, World of War Craft addict, who doesn’t want to do his home work. My husband, fiancé at the time, made sure he went to school daily. My husband also locked my son’s computer in the trunk of his car frequently until I arrived home evening around 6:50 p.m. Focused intention and a determination to eliminate my chronic illness was and is my motivation.
My husband partnered with me to do the cleanse. He lost 20 lbs in 20 days. During our first cleanse, we decided to become raw-vegans. I am 90% raw-vegan. My husband is 95%. My son still eats the SAD. He appears curious. He has been researching the benefits and differences between the SAD and raw-vegan diets.
Several days after my first cleanse, we saw Victoria, Valya, and Sergei Boutenko at Café Gratitude in Berkeley, CA. They were seated near us while we waited for our bill. I knew this was a sign that I was on the right path for transforming my health. I recognized her from a Raw Family DVD I had seen. I immediately purchased Victoria’s Green for Life from the restaurant’s bookstore and approached her for an autograph. She was very happy to sign it. Last year we had another opportunity to see her again when we attended her speaking engagement in Berkeley.
My husband was pre-diabetic before the MC and new raw-vegan diet. We didn’t realize the vegan diet eliminated his health issue until we purchased the DVD Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days.
I hope sharing my experience helps:)

Well, I did it! Almost caved last night as I laid in bed. Kept thinking of all the leftovers in the frig. Spaghetti, chicken, even green beans. I wanted some food! Did better with the lemonade yesterday, but had to chuck my last glass. Just couldn't stand it anymore. But I finally fell asleep without caving, and I can't wait to have my orange juice!
Carol--Can't say exactly when I had the kidney pains, but they were never severe. Just mild aches. Pretty much the whole time. Although I think part of the ache was from mulching and bending over, so I think some of it was just a muscle ache on my left side. Good luck with that.
HighOnLife---I'd say to get your monopoly game out & put that "get out of jail free" card in your wallet, just in case:) Good luck with your cleanse. Hope your mood changes soon!
VQ--I think that's the shortest post I've ever read on this board. Like "Jesus Wept" (the shortest verse in the bible) Not that I read the bible as much as I should. I learned that on The Waltons.
As far as the slam from whoever...about my only doing a 12 day fast and a 2 day water fast....whatever. I am keeping my head up and proud that I went my 14 days. So if you drink the 6-12 lemonades and puke it up, do you have to subtract that day from your cleanse and count it as a water fasting day? I did the best I could and I'm proud of it.
Marsh--good luck with the serving! Stay strong! Hope liver & onions is your feature of the week (unless you happen to like it!)
I was up at 4:30 am today, because I fell asleep at 10:30 and I only seem to need 6 hrs. of sleep anymore. That's a nice side effect. And as I sat at the bar waiting to leave work on Sat, my friends were trying to offer me a glass of wine, and then remembered my fast. As I sat with my face in my hands, I said "but my face feels like a baby's ass! So take that!" Another nice side effect! And my jeans fit nicely. No more muffin top rolling over! Stay strong everyone. It's so worth it.
Thanks everyone for your nice wishes and support thru this. Hope you all do well. Keep rolling on one day at a time, and you'll make it to your goal. BECAUSE YOUR AWESOME!!!

Hello Molunat! Ok..today is my first day(Monday the 6th)...havent started yet..will start around 9am..wow how do u watch cooking shows? That will make me salivate and crave! :D Try to stick with it today..cmon partner..you can do it..we can do it together...it will be hard to stick to it when u throw your party but maybe you can stick to it until then? Wish me luck everyone!

Today is day 10 for me! No matter how much I struggle and how much of a mind game the MC can be I always feel a positive change at the end. I feel so good right now I'm almost regreting stopping, now I don't know about anybody else, but I always feel that way on the last day of every MC that I do...weird! I have yet to succeed in properly breaking the fast, luckily I've I haven't made myself sick by doing that, but this time around I'm going to do it right and follow the book.
Keep it up everyone, your all doing great! :D

Well yoday is day 8- and I am now on orange juice for the day. I never knew a glass of OJ could taste so good!! I had to stop myself from chugging it down! I wish I could have continued for the tens days, but because of traveling plans I decided to end today. I feel really great, and now that I know I can do this, I can't wait to do it again! Next time I will plan better and I want to go at least 10 days - or as long as it takes. Good luck to everyone, and hang in there:D

Geez I forgot to share the really good part! I lost 10 lbs and 5.5 inches!:) I still need to lose 35 lbs- but hey this is a good start, and hopefully will get me on the path to a healthier relationship with food. Who knows, maybe next year at this time I will have reached my goal;) I would like to do the MC 3 more times in the next year. I'm looking at July for my next one- as good as I feel, I don't feel like I'm "done" yet!
Infowarrior- great job on completing 10 days! Good for you! I just wanted to share that I felt the same way this morning- kind of sorry to stop and almost apprehensive, like I don't want to lose this good feeling or something. Certainly not the way I expected to feel!
Brokoli- you should feel very proud of your accomplishment! I have nothing but respect and admiration for you. And anybody for that matter, that is making an effort to improve their health and well-being. God knows, nowadays, with the life style we are used to, and the world we live in, it sure h*ll isn't easy! 1day on this MC isn't easy let alone 14, and it takes committment and willpower to do it. So kudos to everyone- hang in there and God speed on your journey to a healthier you!8)

Day 8!!!! I almost didn't make it through the weekend y'all! Day 5 and 6 were the absolute worst for me. I had awful detox symptoms. I was tempted to eat nearly every second. But I basically just distracted myself...I completed 2 novels this weekend alone! LOL And I finally started having vivid food dreams...I woke up and laughed at how freaked I was...I drank a Coke in one of my dream and was nearly in tears! LOL
Since I had two very bad days in a row, I was terrified of Day 7, because I have read so many places that Day 7 can be difficult. But it turned out to be the easiest for me so far! it was a breeze! It amazes me how very different so many people's bodies react on the cleanse. Differences from day to day can be miles apart....but its still comforting to see all the possibilities people go through and be prepared for anything!
So far so good today, I'm feeling wonderful... AND i've lost over 10 lbs! Have a great day everyone! :D

Hope this works - 2nd time lucky!
I am coming to the end of my first day which has been really tough and I've been raw for a few months too!
I am SO hungry and have chugged nearly all my lemonade which I am desperately trying to make the last cupful last before I have a ridiculously early night hoping that the TV wiill take my mind of my insane hunger.
I happily sipped my laxative tea last night, did my SWF this morning to entertaining results and was in good spirits most of the day.
Until my sugar crash of course. I suppose it's to be expected with taking such a high glycaemic indix food!
