Well, it's day 6 already! I've passed the halfway mark and am on the home stretch! I am getting tired of the LA's about now though :p The super hard part is going to be that Saturday, which is day 10, we have a party to go to :( Oh well, we'll manage!
I spent most of the day yesterday researching the raw food lifestyle and getting all excited about it. My husband is on board with me and we are going to go raw for the month of March right after this cleanse. Can't wait to see what's in store!
Funny thing....when I did my first cleanse two years ago, I could hardly stand the taste of the MS.....Now, I LOVE it!

Donny, have you been able to pick up Peter's book....it is helpful with what to do and what not to do...and is quite comical too....I picked mine up at the book store or you can order from this site...I ask myself constantly when reading thru the threads," DIDN'T YOU PEOPLE READ THE BOOK!!!???" and over the past few days I now realalize a lot of peole have not...those who haven't, I suggest it...it is helpful, I think...

2Blessed - sounds like your'e doing really well too. I feel a bit in awe of how great everyone's doing at the moment and how the detox demons aren't taking over. How are you feeling now that Day 6 is here?
I start mine on Tuesday morning and physically I couldn't be more prepared. I just need to get mentally prepared as I know that's the strongest part to get me through the first days. I know I can do it and I know I will do it, but I'm so anxious to start! :)
I love your signature quote by the way. So very very true!
Take care.

Donny L and others,
I'm on day 46 and doing great! 5 days to go! It's almost over, Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I had a pretty large elimination this morning. Really, how is that possible after 45 days of not eating? How gross! It gives new meaning to the phrase "I am just so full of ****!"

no Donny just do the one swf in the moning and your tea at night, thats all you need. By the third day its mostly butt pee so once in the morning before your first lemonde is enough..the only times ive read about people really having a bad time with the cleanse is when the try and alter the cleanse in some way....and only 2 tsp.....ok:D;)

Day 5...I'm feeling so much better than yesterday, and today is a bright and beautiful day.
My cxravings have still not gone away, hopefully soon though. I need to crunch on something, I can't wait to get home and chew some ice. I also bought some limes for a nice twist. I'm halfway done! one day at a time, eh?

FruitLoop: I feel great! I'm not hungry at all, and have plenty of energy. I did have some detox on days 3 and 4 but mostly just extremely tired and some lower backache. The hardest thing for me is when all the thoughts of food come.....I really miss chewing and savoring flavors!
Good luck!...you will do fine on your cleanse. It is a hugely mental journey and I believe that to the core. I would have never made it 30 days last time if it wasn't for the mental preparations before and during the cleanse. You HAVE to continually remind yourself that you WILL be able to eat again, it's only for a short period of time, you're doing it for your health, etc.....OH, and the eliminations each morning were enough to make me want to keep it up!

Hi All,
Day 2 for me and all is going super well! I feel great, have tons of energy and am not hungry at all :p
prettyraw - my first cleanse i had a real hard time with the SWF... It has gotten much easier for me by doing the following to get it down
1: making it about the temperature of soup broth
2: counting my 'gulps' - i do 4 sets of 10 big gulps and that generally gets it down
3: most important for me is to suck on a bit of lemon before & after I start my 'gulps'
Hope this helps!!!
HI Sparkly1,
FABULOUS!! I will try these tips tomorrow morning! I do suck the lemon thing and that helped tremendously. BUT I've not tried the soup broth temp nor the counting gulps. Thanks for the tips!
Have you heard yet about the mineral water?
Have an easy breezy Day Two!

Hi! I'm just at the end of day six. This is my first MC... I downloaded a copy of the original MC booklet, and found another discussion forum. However, I was still searching for a Bright, Positive, Happy, stick-to-the-program kind of place, and here I am! :p Google is my friend.
Other than being really cold all the time, I think I'm doing fine, so far.

Hi everyone... Ive just started Day 1 of my 3rd MC. The other two were great... GREAT... experiences and so this time I'm trying to do a longer one. I'm feeling the need for a huge spring cleaning and want to feel my best when my birthday rolls around in the Spring. I actually did my first MC through my birthday last year and didn't even care that I missed my cake!
So its off to bed having just finished my tea and prepping the salt water flush for the AM. I will admit I'm not looking forward to the first 3 days... but after that everything "adjusts" and gets so much easier. I was afraid to exercise through my other ones... thought I would be too weak. But to be honest, you only feel that way in the very beginning and on one or two detoxing days... so I will be doing Pilates everyday hoping it helps my body detox even more!
For all you Moms out there... I feel your pain having to cook for your family through the first few days. I promise it gets so much easier and you stop lurking over the pots for just the smell!
Best of luck everyone... going for 28 days myself this time around... but we will see! That's what I thought the last time!!! But I wont get hard on myself if I don't get there! (We Moms have enough we get hard on ourselves about!)

Hello 2Blessed.
Thank you for the "heads up" on the mental side of things. I did try this once before but I didn't have enough forethought on it and gave up on Day 3! I had no plan on what I'd eat after I finished the cleanse so I was able to talk myself into giving up early and going healthy which obviously didn't happen. The good thing is, I know that those voices are the detox talking and that it gives just empty promises  So this time I'll focus on the 10 days minimum before deciding how much longer I'll go on. I'm an absolute food addict and need enough space between eating to stop me just jumping back on that old habit.
I hope you're having a good day today and the aches are going.
Take care.:)

Hi cindywilcox,
I have a theory on your late elimination, although I'm not a Dr, just very interested in affects of food in the body so have read a lot.
If you ate the typical SAD diet then you could have eliminated some meat you ate prior to your cleanse. Meat can take over a month to digest because when you consume meat your body confuses it for being part of you and it removes some of your stomach lining to coat the meat you've eaten to "protect" it. It's not until that meat is completely rotten that your body will give it up for digestion and remove the protection around it to send it on it's digestive way. Which is why I think that's what you eliminated if you were eating meat before your cleanse.
If it was another lining in your clogged pipes then logically I can't imagine that being anything other than flaky rather than the solid BM you had? But this is really just my own personal theory so I apologise to anyone out there who is better informed on this than I am.
I eat lots of meat, particularly chicken, and have been trying to get off that for ages now, so I'm hoping the cleanse will help me on that path! When I finish this time I'm going completely raw and mostly fruit to keep the effects of the cleanse going and to completely restore my health too I hope.
So, you're doing amazingly well. This has probably been a completely life changing experience for you I'd imagine? You're an inspiration so thank you for sharing your experiences and knowledge on here. It's great motivation reading back through the threads.

Susie, I lost 17 lbs in my 30 day fast. I would tend to lose a couple pounds then level off for a few days, then drop again. That seems to be the way my body works on every cleanse, this one included. But I do think that the bulk of the weight came off in the first half or so of the cleanse. Some people tend to lose an average of a pound/day, but not me. Every body is different and every cleanse is different. Hope this helps!

I started feeling the hint of a sore throat last night so I climbed in bed to watch the President's speech...I fell asleep watching it and woke about at just about the end with a horrible sore throat and than some coughing....it was a long and miserible night I still have a sore throat and the back of my head/neck aches and feel really blah....didn't feel like doing the SWF this morning or drinking the LA...but I did and I am of course....
so far I am only having 2 BMs a day and it doesn't seem to all that much to me...how about you guys?

Hi All,
Happy to hear my tricks with the SWF came in handy, that is definitley the roughest part of the day. And I have not had any sparkling water bc I read it's a no-no. Figured that, oh well... I can live 10 days with out.
Day 3 here and all is well, although I am having a rough time with the Smooth Move tea . Does it wake anyone else up in the middle of the night with horrible cramps? I am already making it a bit weak and only drinking 2/3 of it so I am not sure what I can do other then to deal with it for the rest of the cleanse.
Have a good day today all!

I don't have any problems at all with the smooth Move tea as of yet...are you drinking it to early maybe...I have been having mine in bed..kind of trying to make it a relaxing "treat" to unwind with...I read a page or 2 from an inspirational book while it steeps and than sip my tea while watching a little TV....
Maybe if the smooth move keeps bothering you, you could try Get Regular instead

February 25th, 2009, 08:33 AM
Maybe I am not drinking enough LA....I had 7 monday and 8 Tuesday...but I just saw I need to have 1 oz for every 2lbs...I was 160 lbs at the start and now 156.4 lbs  That means I need to be drinking more like 10 GLASSES A DAY!!!
What do ya think?
sparkly1
February 25th, 2009, 08:57 AM
I think you are ok tiggy... the book says 6-12 glasses a day, and i think it's fine to drink when you are hungry... if you do not need more you don't have to drink more. I was bad yesterday and could only get to 5 glasses and i am feeling fine today. It's rare that I will have more then 6 glasses.
Btw is that your horse? I also ride, hunters / jumpers tho.

I am new to the board and I am on day 2 of the cleanse and I feel like death warmed over. My head is about to explode, it hurt clear into my teeth on the right side. Also, I feel nauseated and achey and I'm freezing! I have no desire to eat or drink anything, and even the smell of the lemonade makes me want to vomit.
Is this unusual?

Hi Everyone!
Yesterday I had the most intense cravings for things like spaghetii ..... bacon.....I've been a veg since 2005, which is kinda scary because in the book it says that your cravings are usually indicative of what you are detoxing! Yipes! that's like 4 year old bacon! Anyways....I Peter is right, the cravings are gone with the eliminations this morning. Last night I did feel weird though....mentally tired but physically wired. Has anyone else felt that?
SWF was much easier this morning (Mahalo, Sparkly1!) the counting really helped! I guess it gave my mind something to do while I gulped. Day three, here we go!
Good luck everyone!

I am planning on starting my first mc tomorrow morning. Any words of wisdom for me?? I am very excited but a little scared i'm going to be in the middle of a meeting at work and going to have to run to the bathroom!! Also, for the tea, I purchased senna tea. Is that ok? thanks

Hi All Fellow Cleansers;
I am on day 3. This is my second time-the first was last year around this time.
So far, I'm finding the swf more difficult than last time. My system had been fighting some digestive issues for some weeks previous so I assume that is where the slight nausea is coming from this time around.
This board was such a help last time as all my local fellow cleansers fell off the wagon. This time, I have a few who are still in it with me and I have recommended this discussion board to them as well.
Question: Has anyone done this cleanse after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis? Results? Any infor would be appreciated.
My husband had a colonoscopy last summer and the Dr. said he had "the beginning stages of ulcerative colitis". Dr., of course, prescribed some expensive medications and no hope of recovery, just 'managing' the condition.-I won't go on a rant about the ineptitude and/or corruption of the 'science' of western medicine...
However, I did get my husband in to see my natural healthcare physician who helped us get good results with nutrient supplemants and dietary alterations. Although, not perfect, he is much improved.

Yep Sparkly! That's Aine', my quarter horse...it's the only picture I have on my laptop at the moment...
If it were me I would try Get Regular and just see if there is any difference...
Oh, Good....6-12 glasses is what I was going by originally too...than I saw a thread this morning quoting Peter about the 1 oz per every 2 lbs...but that does say LA or Water

I got a very coated tongue last night... ewww... and today I feel a little drained, but I think overall I'm doing fine! :)

Hi SusieNJ,
To answer your question regarding weight loss on longer cleanses... I'm on day 47 and to date I've lost 18 pounds on the cleanse. At 4'9" and starting the cleanse at 108 pounds, a good 10 pounds or so overweight, it is a minor miracle that I've lost that much weight in that short a period of time. I've never done anything that's allowed me to loose that much weight that quickly. I lost 7 pounds in the first 10 days, then about 3 pounds during days 11 - 14, then my weight loss slowed down dramatically to roughly 1/3 to 1/4 pound per day and I've hit plateaus a few times. I do imagine this all varies from person to peson.

February 25th, 2009, 01:45 PM
Hi Sparkly 1,
I too have trouble with the Smooth Move tea. Sometimes I have to water it down so much that I find it hard to believe it's doing anything for me but if I don't, I get terrible cramps. If you drink a glass of water when you're having cramps from the tea, this will make the cramps go away or substantially reduce them. In Peter's book he said that that tea is forcing your stomach muscles to contract to digest food only there's no food in your stomach to digest, hence the cramps. Drinking a glass of water will put something in your stomach for it to grab onto. The only problem with this solution is that I am then up much of the night going to the bathroom. Still sometimes I just have to drink the water or my stomach hurts so much. :( Hope that helps. :)

Hi Prettyraw,
Regarding feeling mentally weird, I had that same experience in the first week of the cleanse. I had some emotional issues at the time that were all stirred up during that first week but the great thing about the cleanse is that by about day 8, that stuff goes away and you have great mental clarity. It seems like the longer I was on the cleanse, the less emotional I was and the more mentally clear I'v become. I honestly think this is one of the best benefits of the cleanse, I wish I could stay this wasy forever. You have much to look forward to.
BTW, those emotional weird feelings are very similar to what PMS feels like so for any of you guys out there that experienced this on the cleanse, now you know what women go through once a month, oh joy! Maybe now you can empathize with your significant other.

Hi Peter, wonderful to be a part of this group. Today is February 25, 2009. Today is first day of the master cleanse for me. it is going well. i did the seasalt flush this morning and tea last night. First glass of lemonade an hour after seasalt flush. It went down good. I'm glad there wasn't more than about 9 ounces of it to down. 32 oz. of seasalt water wasn't easy but i know it will be even easier tomorrow. I have decided to keep smoking cigarettes today, please comment if you can. I'll post each day just to help me get through this wonderful benefitting experience. :)

So, I may have to spend a day or two on the MC 'bad girl' list, but I just had either a moment of inspiration or desperation.
I was squeesing my lemon for my noonish glass of LA, and it was a really dry lemon. Almost no juice (note: I am using organic Meyer lemons).
So I looked over, saw my cheapo juicer (Note: not technically 'mine', it was abandoned, dirty, when my SD moved out two years ago. I just cleaned it up a couple of days ago so that I could use it for after the MC), so I put a whole lemon through it, and poured that juice into my LA.
Now, since I effectively juiced the peeling, the pith, and the fruit itself, I'm curious as to what the effects will be. In the MC booklet, he mentions using a part of the pith/peeling, and blending it up with the juice, for the LA, to improve the cleansing effects. Have I just 'juiced it up' a bit? I WILL post if any untoward effects occur!

Hi Cindy!
Ah...okay, yes....emotional detox! The first time I did the cleanse I do remember a feeling of peace and calm. I cant wait. Are you really on day 47? Wow!!!!!!!!!! I'm smaller , like you, 5 feet tall and started at 109 lbs. I normally weigh 100, but I've put on that 9 pounds pretty quickly last fall. I truly think it's hormonal and aside from a good cleanse from the MC, I'm hoping it will help regulate my hormones.
Thanks Cindy!

I'm logging in now on my third day 11:00pm. Just finished my tea while reading up here and noticed I think I am having the exact symptoms you are at the same times even just without the severity. I'm sure it has a lot to do with only 2BM's a day. Tonight is the first time I've actually felt hunger. I can't wait for tomorrow to see if things pick up speed in the BM department. Well I'm going to bed. Good luck with that head and neck of yours!:)
Interested to see if our day 4 is similar!

Today is officially day 1 for me. Had the tea last night (and woke w/ mild cramps at 6:30) and drank the swf this am. Forget the salt, how can anyone drink 32oz at a time!!!!!! I felt pretty nasty after. 45min later, i was running to the br and have been back 3 times already. I'm just starting to feel less queasy and a little thirsty. No real desire to drink the lemonaide yet. Does it matter if I wait a while?????????? Also, does it matter if you drink the swf as soon as you get up? I have an appointment early tomorrow and would rather just wait until it is over.........

HEY MEL81!
How is it going for day 4...the head and neck don't hurt but maybe a teensy bit, I did have a little more BM than previous days...I am glad yesterday is over...that was tough...
How are you doing today?

:D That's funny Donny, that's how I felt yesterday like a real bad hangover....a little sluggish this morning...but that could be do to outside stress unrelated to the cleanse...maybe after I get my shower and get going things will look brighter!

Hi!!
I am not new to this board as I followed it closely on my last master cleanse, But this is my first time posting! I am on day 4 of my 2nd cleanse. I had a great experience with my last cleanse and ever since have been planning on doing it again someday. This second time was not something I planned at all, I sort of just woke up a few days ago and decided I was ready to do it again!
I have some questions regarding "emotional detoxing". I did not experience this during my first cleanse at all, basically just the physical part. After my first cleanse I was vegan for about 3 months and then decided it was not for me, but still ate very healthy and not near as much meat as I did prior to the cleanse. (Just haven't had much of a craving for it since) So, on this cleanse I have not noticed much physical detoxing, mostly just emotional. Yesterday (day 3) I felt extremely depressed, anxious, and emotionally drained. Not to the point of tears, but just very unhappy. I have had some emotional issues to work through in the past few months and have struggled with some anxiety. I guess what I am wondering is does this mean I am "detoxing" these things out, and they will be better after the 10 day cleanse? Or do they just get better towards the end of the cleanse, and then return once I go back to eating solid foods?
Just want to let all of you know how much this board helped me yesterday when I was so ready to quit!! Sorry this post was so long!!
xoxo Lily

Hi ... I started Monday February 23rd; and I'm on my 4th day. The last time I tried to fast was in 2002 on the Master Cleanser; I couldn't get past the 2nd or 3rd day then it made me so sick - I was sure I had the flu!! But this time it's different, since '02 I've quit eating meat - rare bites maybe, but that's it and I quit milk all together. I don't tell people much because I hear I'm not getting my calcium and protein. However, I sure feel now. Though, I'm a big sweet eater and I have gained to the point I have HBP.
The reason I started was ... I just feel so bad and anytime I eat, even small amounts I feel like I have ate a lot, my bloodpressure up, and I just want to wash out my insides ...and start over. Okay, loosing weight would be okay too! :)
This time ... as of day 4, I haven't had any trouble at all -- except drinking the SWF. So, I'm drinking the laxative tea morning/night. I just can't make myself swallow it without gagging.
I guess my quesion is ... Only liquid comes out of my body, does that sound right? I have lost 8 pounds and I have just started my 4th day. Probably just fluid ... I easily retain water.
Any thoughts are appreciated. I actually feel better ... I'm not hungry and honestly, I don't even feel any detox symptoms.
THANKS!

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF I CAN TAKE CHLOROPHYLL TABLETS I GOT AT A HEALTH FOOD STORE? IS IT ALLOWED ON THE MC? I ADMIT, I DID TAKE ONE LAST NIGHT BECAUSE I READ IT DETOXIFIES AND HELPS ELIMINATE TOXINS EVERYWHERE INCLUDING BLOOD, COLON, ORGANS, I WAS JUST IN A LOT OF PAIN AND IN DESPERATION!
TODAY IS DAY 5 AND I FEEL GREAT!
BEFORE I TAKE ANYMORE, IS IT ALLOWED? ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!:)

Hello Everyone! Day 4 for me. I went to be really late last night...about 1:45am and about 6:15am, my eyes opened and I was ready to get up! On my first MC, I experienced more energy towards the end of the cleanse and up til then I was just really achy and tired and I slept a lot. I'm happy that it's different now. The skin on my face around my mouth has been a little dry and my lips and hands have been very dry. But my hair is really soft and smooth. I think I'm drinking enough water. Is dryness a detox symptom?
Have an easy, flowing cleanse day, everyone!

Hey all,
Haven't been posting much, as things have been going pretty smoothly for me after day 2. I'm now on day 7, which is supposed to be a heavy detox day for some, and I'm back at work (took off the first couple days of the cleanse). Not doing too bad so far today - a slight headahce, but that's to be expected I think. The built up emails alone were enough to bring that on! :p I brought 5 lemonades with me to work today, and I've already downed half of those, yet I'm feeling hungry, which I really haven't felt at all until now (unless I went too long without lemonade). It's probably just a detox symptom. I think being back at work after a nice week off is just compounding things.
I have to agree with everyone else's comments on the Smooth Move. I wake up very early every morning (between 4 and 6) with cramps. I was steeping initally for 20 minutes AND leaving the tea bag in the cup while I drank it. Then I steeped for 20 minutes but took the tea bag out. Now I am only letting it sit for 15 and taking it out and I'm still getting cramps. Guess I'll bump it down to 10 minutes! I used this stuff for my whole first MC and I don't remember it being this bad. It definitely helps to churn up some sludge and get it out of my system though!
I had some good energy on days 3 and 4, but days 5 and 6, though I felt totally fine, I was very mellow and relaxed. The energy was there when I needed it, but I didn't feel like utilizing it. Normally, even when I have time off, I feel the urge that I need to get things done. Not so anymore! I am content to just BE and really relax. It's a nice change!
Though my first cleanse was 20 days, it feels right to stop at 10 this time. So Sunday will be my last day. I bought a couple of books on Raw Food, and I'm looking forward to getting a lot more fresh, live food in my diet (I have no desire to go 100% raw, or even vegetarian, but I do want to make sure that the majority of food I'm eating is the good stuff).
Namasteone - I think it's fine to do the SWF when you get back from your appointment. Just make sure you don't have anything beforehand, and you should be fine.
Hope everyone else is doing well and having smooth sailing on the cleanse! :D

Day Eight here for me... I'm back to just manually squeesing the lemons and limes (I do have a manual citrus juicer I'm using). After that one dry lemon, the rest seem juicy enough!
Got the SWF the right temp this morning, was able to guzzle it in two tries...
At this point, I'm not sure how long I'll be on the MC, but I have a date that I HAVE to be off it by, as I have to spend a couple of weeks ramping up slowly to food (starting with wheatgrass juice, barley grass juice, and then into other vegetable/fruit juices), a week on 100% raw fresh food, then at least a week of 100% raw food with denser, dehydrated, and heavier nut/seed items included, before I move back into my 75% raw vegan lifestyle.
Why? Well, because I'm scheduled for a Vipassana meditation retreat, and I have to be 'back to normal' before I go! fasting of any kind is not allowed there. They do, however, offer GREAT vegan/vegetarian meals, which include lots of salads, fruit, and yummy healthy things, and as a return student, I'll only have tea for dinner, anyway.
So, by my calculations, I will be coming off the MC on March 7th, which will make it 17 days. Hmm. Maybe I can stretch that out to 22 days, and get past the next "7 day detox" thing. I can squish the juice days in a little, I think.

Hello, I am on day seven and will breaking the fast next monday, since this seems to be the only board where people reply withint a day, I am deciding to ask this here: If I am a meat eater, and plan on resuming that diet, can I break the fast with a salad like vegetarians are supposed to, or do I have to break it with the soup? I have really been craving some fresh greens, and would rather have a salad.
also, if I do have the salad, can I put some cold chicken in it?

Hi Bandaloop. I'm a meat eater, and I plan on breaking my fast with salad instead of soup as well. I'd skip the chicken though. It's more work for your digestive system, so I'd leave it alone for at least a few days while you reintroduce fresh food into your system.

My wife and I are on day 4. The 2nd day for me was terrible with cravings and a bad headache all day. 3 and 4 have been great. No cravings and feel alive. My wife on the other hand was fine on day 1 and 2, but she has had a bad headache days 3 & 4. I know this is part of the process and it will go away. I am wondering Peter, when is it ok to consume alcohol after the cleanse? thanks

:)Hi All; today is day 4 and I had some really WEIRD dreams this morning! I felt drugged and had a really hard time getting up but thought I needed some nourishment by 9am. the first half of the day I'm feeling a little 'outside myself and spacey'. That's new to me. This cleanse is quite different from the last so far with the exception of the bad headache on day 2.
Originally, I woke at 5-ish with cramping(I only steeped my tea for 3mins last night). Thought I should do the SWF to get things moving, then when back to bed after 2 or 3 bms. I guess the slightly stronger tea(I had started steeping 1 min because last time the cramping was bad and early) seemed to move uite a bit out though.
Hang in there!

Well Now I have joined you guys who wake up in the wee morning hours with cramps! They hit around 2:15 am and I had to make a few trips to the bathroom...That wasn't much fun...somehow the salt water seems to be getting harder for me to get down than easier...does that make sense?... BUT HEY it's DAY 5 WAHOO!!!! Yesterday I had a lot more BM's or butt pees whatever you want to call it....so I guess that's a good thing...I can't say I feel more energized...so far to day I feel tired and just kind of icky...but than me and my husband both have a nasty cold and were coughing half the night...I had my SWF and one LA and am about to go have my second for today....the good thing is I really haven't had to battle hunger to much...I can't say that I didn't want to eat the yummy smelling chicken fajita's I made for my family last night, but I wasn't hungry either....it seems to me eating is much more a habit or a social event, where as it should be for nutrition and stregth....

Hi All... Day 5 and feeling good.... Days 3 and 4 were a bit tough, but more because of my schedule then anything. Having a 14 hour day when you are not eating is no fun lol...
As an update to my Smooth Move situation I have not taken it for 2 days now and I can't be happier about it (and I am sleeping like a baby). I have good eliminations in the AM, so I am not concerned and am ready to throw the box out!
SWF made me feel queasy this morning for some reason, but I think it was because I had some toxins to get rid of...
Anyway half way there!!! Good luck today all :)

Not sure if you mean the salt water flush coming out, or if you just have to pee a lot. If you mean the SWF, then once it's out of your system in a couple of hours, you'll be fine. If you are running to the bathroom to pee a lot, that actually does get better! The first maybe 2-3 days I was going to the bathroom constantly! And now it's a much more normal amount. I think your body starts getting used to all the liquids. :)

Hi, all. I am on day 3 of my annual Lenten fast (been doing at least 10 days every year since 2005). And I'm down almost ten pounds since Wednesday! :D (Since I have 100 left to lose, ten pounds is a great thing!)
I also have a rank test in karate tonight, so I'm hoping that my horrible days 1 and 2 mean that day 3 is going to be fairly symptom-free.
I haven't done a SWF yet ... I hope to do one tomorrow morning. I can't do them very often because I'm one of those who pukes the SW back up instead of it going through. Sigh. So I drink 3 to 4 cups of the SM tea every day. I was SO excited to find CHOCOLATE SM tea at Whole Foods! The SM tea was always too sweet for my taste and I would choke it down, but with the cocoa and carob instead of the orange peel, I don't mind drinking this at all.
I was also amazed to find that, as a new diabetic, the MC is actually easier for me than it was in the past -- I really expected it to be harder. I've been eating solidly low-carb for almost eight months, so maybe it's the fact that there has been no sugar in my diet other than the occasional raspberry or strawberry. I also find that I like the lemonade with molasses much better than with syrup, though I still use only 1 tablespoon instead of 2 in each drink. Any more than that, or using the syrup is just too sweet for me. (And sends my blood glucose through the ceiling.)

I find that for a good 1 1/2 to 2 hrs after my swf I have to be VERY near a br. Yesterday, I was able to not drink/eat anything while at work. Hey there, day 8 for me here. 2Blessed, I plan on having the majority of my diet be raw after I break the cleanse in 2 days. I ordered two raw food books that should come in today, so I am looking forward to going through those over the weekend and getting excited about venturing into raw territory! :D I've also been reading in the Raw Lifestyle forum and getting a better sense of what it's all about in the meantime. I've tried to avoid reading too many recipes though. I learned how dangerous that is from my first MC! :p

Donny--Thanks! I usually don't stick around on this thread after my cleanses are done, but this time I will be doing a lot of hanging out in the Raw Lifestyle forum! Especially the One Month Raw Challenge!
Nymue--Great! I am so excited about trying raw! I have both of Victoria's books (Twelve Steps to Raw Foods and Green For Life--I ordered from this site) and I've got a whole lot of others 'ordered' through our inter-library loan system. One is already there for pick up and I think I'll go get it today when I go get our oranges! I agree that it's best to stay out of the recipes :) ANYTHING sounds good when you're on the cleanse!
I do this every time, but I'm DYING to have a dehydrator and Vitamix! I wish money wasn't so tight....
Good luck everyone!

I'm Julianna i'm 18. I just started the cleanse today. Had my tea last night before bed and started everything today. The lemon drink actually isn't that bad. It kind of tastes like soy sauce with lemon. The salt water is what was the hardest...that and the butt pee. But at least I know it's working! I'm hungry right now and I just had my lemon drink. Is this a detox sign or should I drink more? I drank the whole 10 oz. like I was supposed to. Other than that everything else is a-ok!:D

Monday: Orange Juice for breakfast and as needed through morning time
Small Salad for lunch: spinach, baby greens, kidney beans, steamed potatos, carrots, peas, corn and olives.
Light Bean soup for dinner: cannelloni beans, mushroom stock and rosemary
Tuesday: Orange Jucie in morning and as needed through morning time
Bean Soup for lunch
Big green salad, same as above
I could not have made it this far without the help of this site, I would have given up on the first day. Everytime I visit it I get super pumped and happy about it. My friend is starting the cleanse on saturday and I'm making her joiun this site.

I'm on Day 5!!! I'm half way to my victory line.
Tiggy, glad to hear you felt a better on day 4. I actually needed to take it easy on 4 I just lazed around all night after work other than making LA that is. There must have been lots of mobilized garbage running around in me that caused a crappy day 4 for me because this morning was great. The BA's this a.m. were finally what I've been expecting (more than just liquid so to speak:eek:. Toaday is going so well so far that I am excited to conquer the next 5 to come.
Vgee, I quit smoking this time last year after 13 years. That was one of my motivators to do the cleanse. Smoke free feels amazing, hopefully it will be worth the headaches for you in the long run. Keep up the good work.:)

Hello Dear Lemon Friends! It is Day 5 for me and I couldn't be happier that I am at the half way point. It has felt like weeks!!!! Yesterday was rough with the cravings. That surge of crazy energy i was carrying has shifted to me feeling very tired and fatigued. I slept 12 hours. I think I'm going through some deep detox.
Donny- I hear you about the cravings!!! I was craving meat!!! I guess it's cuz i'm detoxing it. But I'm a veg so it's been strange. I really wanted pancakes yesterday too.
2Blessed2BStressed- Good luck on your raw March journey! I have been going between high raw vegetarian and high raw vegan for about 3 years now. However, i plan on being more disciplined and choosing vegan. I eat 100% raw Monday-Saturday and then on Sundays, I allow myself to indulge in two cooked vegan meals: lunch and dinner. I normally start the morning with plain ole lemon in water, no maple or cayenne, and then I have a giant green smoothie. (fresh squeezed oj, banana, and loads of either spinach or romaine). Keep in touch about the raw challenge! There are some incredible recipes out there!
Sparkly1- good for you, skipping the tea. If you're having great release in the mornings, then you should be fine. I used to get bad cramps too so then I would just steep the tea for less time and that seemed to have helped.
Alright! Good luck everyone!

Hi Donny, I've been hungry too!!! Did you do that thing where you ask your body what it wants? I think it was something like if you want to eat a fruit or veg you are truly hungry, but if you want hamburgers, you might be just detoxing. I think I'm truly hungry. I'm going to drink a little more LA.

Donny Grats to making it to a new Milestone! Halfway there means you can make it all the way Right!? :D
Don't think I can go 100% raw even for 30 days...I danced the idea around over the past year...but there is no way I could do it, not in my family...I plan to try for my healthier choices and try for more raw for breakfast and lunch, when I don't have to be overly concerned about what every one else is eating...
I was hoping that I might make it past 10 days...but my hubby already can't wait for day 10 to get here...he thinks this whole thing is just crazy and thinks that there is no way this could be healthy...so I really have to see how the next 5 days go...I was really hoping for a boost in energy, but haven't found it yet...as a matter of fact I would love to go to bed right now! LOL!!!

I'm just finishing up day 3 of my first fast. So far, every day has been really hard for me, headaches, fatigue, etc.... and all I can think about is getting a soy latte. I see that people say it gets better after day 3, but some people say day 5, and some people say the whole thing is hard! I don't know that I can feel like this for 7 more days. I have a high-stress job that requires a lot of energy, and I'm bombing right now. PLEASE tell me it gets much better!!!
p.s. for all you swf haters, that's my favorite part. I liken it to those nasty ramen noodle bowls I used to eat as kid. it's the one thing that makes me feel like i'm having a real bowl of soup:p

hey guys, I am on day 8, I will be breaking the fast next monday. does this sound like a good meal plan for monday and tuesday?
Hi BDoc, So you have Peter's book? The first day of the cleanse should be just fresh orange (or grapefruit) juide ALL day. Food should not be introduced until 3rd meal on the second day after breaking the fast.
I know some who did not break the fast carefully and had some strange side-effects. Remember everything is going to be rich for you newly cleansed digestive tract.
Also,,,PROBIOTICS! I find this is absolutely essential to replacing all the good bacteria(flora)that was flushed with the toxins.
Hope this helps!

Hi All;
Donny, we seem to be mirroring each other. I know it got easier for me after day 3 last time and then again after day 5. We're half way there!
To everyone experiencing difficulty the first few days. Stick with it. Remember this is a good spring cleaning for your body. I have found the weight loss is not as much as a motivator as the detoxing of all the yuk that accumulates from life.
Well, I'm ready to take my SM tea and go to bed. I can't quite get enough sleep this time around:o

Day Nine! Woo Hooo!
Where all this energy is coming from, I have NO idea...
Last night, I decided to do a sauna... I put on some music, got in there, and ended up DANCING IN MY SAUNA for almost the entire HOUR! And, today I STILL have energy!
The SWF does take me almost 3 hours to get through my system, though I am chugging it down fairly quickly (under 5 minutes, this morning).

End of day 3 here. Just extremely tired this time around. To those breaking the fast, just take it SLOWLY, food will definately effect you differently. You'll feel the difference, try and listen to your body.

I am just starting day 3 and i'm with you about being unsure if i can feel like this for another week!! I have thought about quitting several x's. But I always either pick up the book or go on this message board and I have enough energy to make it through!! I have difficulty with almost everything we have to do. I have to choke down the swf (its not the taste but the sheer volume) and i have a hard time even getting down the la. I've only managed 5 on day 1 and 2. Today, I'm going to try for at least 6. I know it is cleansing my body cause nothing is going in and things still keep comming out! We can do it!!!!!!!!!

Hello everyone! I'm on day 7 and its going pretty good. I have notice that I'm sleeping better at night
and my energy level is up. I'm doing the SM in the morning and at night and on the weekends I do the SWW. I am also losing weight which is nice, instead of using 2TBS of maple syrup I am only using 1TBS which is fine for me. The only concern I have is that the forth day I began to get cold its hard for me to warm up. I'm excited overall and I'm going for 14 days. I hope everyone is doing well too.

Hi Everyone! I'm on day 6....yesterday, day 5, was the worst so far in terms of detox. Today I'm glad to say that I feel more energy. What I love about the cleanse is the sense of clarity I feel. I felt that the first time and feel that again this time around. I also feel so much more spiritually in tune and connected. On a physical note, I've lost 5 lbs and 1/2 inch from my waist and hips. Well, good luck to everyone today! Let's all hang in there!! We can do it!!!!

Done the test and mine is just plain hunger as well. I can handle it, would just prefer if it wasn't the case. How did you feel after drinking more? I'm at 11 lemonade per day plus additional plain water and I'm only 150lbs. I've always had a big appetite though. Peviously a senior member had suggested adding more maple syrup? Is this maybe the answer or just extra calories??

I'm considering doing another cleanse...
For the past week, I've been weak, fatigued, dizzy and my lymph nodes hurt. At first, I thought I had mono, but the blood test came back negative. The doctor did say that I had antibodies in my blood, meaning my body is fighting off some virus (boy, these college campus doctors sure divulge a lot of information).
I live in rural NJ, so I'm TERRIFIED that I have Lyme Disease. I'm too young and have too many goals in life that would be ruined by this debilitating illness. If I do have it, I'm going to go the ol' antibiotic route, first. If that doesn't work, I'm going to resort to the MC.
Any feedback on using the MC to get rid of Lyme Disease?

How long ago did u do the cleanse? Did you change your eating habits? You could still be detoxing from that switch. You should get blood tests for Lyme disease, my brother had it. As far as the MC goes for the cure I doubt it would hurt it, probably lesson the symptoms.

Hi Vgee; Well day 6 is not too bad symptom-wise. Although I have been very tired but, I think that's because I can't get much sleep. I'm waking at 5 each morning with the SM tea activity:o. And if I go to bed any earlier than 10pm the tea will wake me even earlier.
It has been a very difficult day emotionally-family stuff you:( . That's probably why I feel so close to breaking this fast! The thought of a huge steak and a bottle of red wine is one of the hardest temptations I've had to endure for a long time...
vgee
February 28th, 2009, 07:12 PM
Omg thats how i cure my emotional stuff too. If I want to celibrate its with a steak, red wine and a cig...or if im sad the same except less food more wine and ciggys...I feel ya though...Bobby try and stick it out til day 10. the food will be waiting for you..the benfits will justify the means...Plus if your thinking about food to help emotional stuff then a couple more days of detox will help...Im here for ya! and so is everyone else here..:):D

Mel81-I felt better after drinking more lemonade. Yeah, some days I have gone over the 12! you know what I love? When I make my drink, I love licking the maple covered spoon!!!! Each time, it never fails, I always go, "MMM YUM!!!" out loud! I am really craving heirloom tomatoes with salt. sigh.
lala18-How are you doing???? You're on day 5 and I'm on Day 6! HANG IN THERE! Drink more lemonade...also drink lots of water too! The SWF will help too because it flushes out all the gunk that the lemonade loosens up. So you could be feeling out of sorts cause the gunk is hanging out. I dont love the SWF, but I do it cause I feel a huge difference from days when I didnt do it because I had an early morning job. HANG IN THERE!!!!!!!!!

Starting MC #6 tomorrow! I wanted to start on Friday but had a really nasty sinus infection... I'm hoping that starting the MC will help kick the last of it.
It's funny that even though I've done the MC successfully 5 other times, starting never seems to get any easier : )
I'll be working while on the cleanse for the first time ever, so that should be interesting also. I hope that I can have some great energy and am really going to try to drink enough lemonade (that is sometimes a problem for me)

Day 4. Rank test last night went great, though I was a little brain-foggy. I had told my sensei that I was on day 3 of an extended fast, so he was lenient when I struggled on a couple of forms. Bless him. Apparently, he's fasted before -- he knew that day 3 was "a rough one."
I am really doing surprisingly well. I haven't had to cut back on my workouts. I've been doing 2 hours of karate three times a week for the past two months (before that, it was 1 hour twice a week since last July), and our sensei does not hold back. I usually come home drenched in perspiration. I also do an hour of Callanetics once a week. I haven't had to curtail any of that so far. But I am foggy and not "on form." I'm banking on the exercise keeping me from losing too much muscle mass. It's FAT that I want to burn!
Today, I had no appetite at all and am very sleepy. If I'm going to have detox symptoms, I want them tomorrow, when there's no job and no family to be affected. LOL. And I really should be having more detox symptoms than I am, since I have been on antibiotics for the last ten months, as well as two surgeries (one with general anaesthesia, one with local) in the past year. I mean, days 1 and 2 were bad, with headaches and tiredness, but not so severe that I had to take to my bed or anything. I still worked my full schedule and did karate classes. Probably it's that I'm not drinking enough lemonade, so I'm not "detoxing" very hard yet.
I'm having trouble getting in the lemonades. I just don't want anything. I think I drank 4 on day 1, 5 on day 2, 6 on day 3, but only 2 today. :( Even the molasses is too sweet now. But I know that's where the vits and minerals are, so I don't want to cut it any further. I mean, at 1T per drink, even at 10 drinks a day it would only be 420 calories. That's pretty drastic. I guess tomorrow I will try the one-hour plan, with a timer to remind me.
I finally did a SWF, though I only got 3/4 of the quart down. Perhaps I will do better on that in the morning. I find if I take it fairly warm, I can pretend it's chicken broth and get it down.
I've also been doing one or two long, hot soaks in epsom salts every day. Mainly because it feels so nice to relax in the warm water. But I know that helps detox, too.
I just wish I had more "oomph." I feel draggy and unmotivated. Oh well, tomorrow may be better.

I am not really hungry at all, but WANT to eat. The toughest day for me was day 6 when I had to fix pizza for my daughter. It's my all time favorite food and it smelled like heaven. I have found enjoyment out of just the smell of foods now! I have lost 7 lbs so far - and would like to lose another 10. I have been averaging 1+ lb per day until day 7 when I gained .5 lbs!! I had done "the firm" workout, and muscles were a little sore. Do you think that may be why??? Okay, starting day 5 here, and trying to pretend this SWF is actually soup so I can get it down.
I've had a lot of weird reactions on the cleanse, but the huge, violently itchy rash that appeared last night on my tummy has got to take the cake for the oddest thing that's happened. Since it's where my waistband hits, is it reasonable to assume that all the sweating from karate on days 2, 3, and 4 irritated the skin? I am guessing that my sweat will be more "toxic" while I'm cleansing ... anyone know for sure?

I am now on my 9th day and I feel incredible...!! My first 6 days were ok but I suffered violent migraines (which is not new I have been getting migraines for at least 15 years now but not normally 6 days in a row) later in the day and I would be forced to take my Imitrex prescription to cure them. On day 7 and since then I have not had any migraines/headaches at all, I figure I had a lot of garbage in me to Detox, I used to work at a Chemical/Plastic Factory about 15 years ago when I first started getting migraines. But again I feel incredible now / lost 12 pounds so far / and have had lots and lots of energy for my workouts P90X (been doing that workout for about 30 weeks now). My wife is siked to do her Cleanse in a couple weeks, I just purchased her supplies minutes ago. :D

Day 11 here. Last night we went out, and I sat and drank water with lemon and watched the show! So, when we got home, I skipped the tea, as we have to run errands first thing today, so I'm not doing the SWF, either. I skipped one other day, earlier... I'll just do it as normal tonight/tomorrow.
Editormum, I had a rash on my tummy for the first few days, too. It went away after, though. Be sure you're drinking enough water as well as lemonade. Are you skin brushing?

On Day 5 now of my first fast!!! Before I started, I was drinking several cups of coffee a day plus caffeinated diet sodas/the occassional energy drink. I was hoping that the cleanse would give ME more control over my energy levels. So, even though I've felt completely fatigued the whole time, it's food that I'm craving now, not the caffeine. (For the first couple days, that was the worst! I thought it would all be better with just a little coffee.)
Anyways, even though every moment is hard right now, I know that I can make it through now. Almost half-way there!!!:D

Good Morning Fellow Lemonheads!
I'm on MC #2 and starting Day 7. So far so good. Detox symptoms seem to be (besides a raging headache on Day 2)largely emotional and tiredness. Haven't worked out much besides rebounding to keep the lymphatics working for me. Maybe I'll manage the energy to get in a 20 min. workout today?
Welcome Newbies:):
Editormum-It sounds like the rash may be from your waist band. But my natural healthcare doc. tells me the stomach, neck, and inside arms are some of the first places a detox will show through skin when the liver is working hard. So your liver is probably trying to get out the surgery-related stuff. Also, you may not be having such bad symptoms otherwise because you do work out and sweat so much - that's a great detox-er! Keep going!
tsan-Everyone is different, but I don't get into the weight thing to much. For me it's about how my clothes fit and cleaning out my system. Muscle is well worth the pounds. So I say: if you CAN work out; DO! I always am a little heavier and sometimes puffier a day or two after and intense workout.
ttapper: Yes, you can! Use this board. It helped me immensely the first time around and is great support still!
kellilynne: The best to you! If you haven't already, may I suggest reading through the older entries on this board. So much worthwhile information to be gained along with support.
Have a good day, All. I'll be checking in later.

Day 2 of the EASE OUT.. :)
i was considering doing longer as my tongue is still coated, but i never.. this is my 2nd MC
stats : started off at 157.8, this morning 145.7 = 12 lbs lost; skin cleared up, backpain lessened, feel great overall
weird thing: day 7 it felt like i had something stuck in the back of my throat.. day 8 a visible yellow/white filled pustule was on the back of my throat..ewww! its still there :( anyone ever have that?
i did this in Oct/08 and believe i lost the same amount, but gained it all back a month later, but resumed eating as i had in the past..then in mid January, cut out bread, pasta, rice, chips, muffins, sugar etc in and lost 6 lbs before i began the cleanse.. cept for a weekly cheat day where i would allow in some carbs.. and yes, that always made me feel crappy and bloated.. and i learned to be careful and take it easy.. ;)
i plan on picking up where i left off in terms of diet.. except that i will eat a few grains such as oatmeal.. (which i love, but this time will add the maple syrup instead of brown sugar)
i'm so looking forward to having my soup tonight, and my quinoa, steamed veggies tomorrow night!

Then, later we were near a kitchen where they were making massive amounts of food for these volunteers and geez...it was italian with lots of fresh garlic, olive oil, and basil! The smells were CRAZY GOOD!!!!!!!! Also, Sunday is the day I normally allow myself something cooked and vegan and so i'm used to indulging on a Sunday. Sigh....well, at least I made it home and I'm safe at home cause I have no other food in the house!

Hello, everyone. My name is Christine and I am pre-day 1. I am sipping on my SM tea and hope that this all goes well. I am starting this regime due to the face that my kidneys are killing me every once in a while. I can drink water or I can drink soda but I still have the pain. I don't have a kidney infection or kidney stones. So, I am going to give this a try. I also notice that at the age of 29, I have liver spots on the top of my hands. I am too young for that! I am hoping to continue this cleanse for 14 days and if I find the will power, I will go for as long as I can. Ok, not pass 40 days but I am sure everyone understands what I mean. What else can I say? Oh, I am overweight. I am 5'4'' and at 173lbs. I am hoping the side effect of this cleanse will help but I am not counting on it. We'll see, I guess. Alright, I will be back in the morning to complain about how bad the salt water drink tastes. :) Have a good night.
Christine :)

Hi All,
I just wanted to say farewell. Yesterday was the last day of my 50 day cleanse. This has been my first MC. Today I had OJ and OJ and grapefruit juice. OJ never tasted so good! I would really like to thank everyone on the BB and of course Peter Glickman and Stanley Burroughs. I would never have gone through to day 50 without all of you guys on the BB!
On the MC I lost:
- 19 pounds!
- 2.75 in from my chest (bummer)
- 4 in. from my waist
- 3 in from my hips
- 3.25 in. from each of my thighs.
I was trying to buy some jeans from the gap when I ordered them near the beginning of the cleanse, I couldn't get into a petite size 6, they were too small. Yesterday the petite size 2s were too big. It feels so good to be 42 years old and be about a size 1 or 2 at the gap! :)
For the record, over the past year between Bikram Yoga, the MC, and the Flat Belly Diet, I have lost 39 pounds, that's 30% of my body weight - almost a third of myself. Last year at this time, I bought some suits from Ann Taylor, they were a petite size 12.
Now I just have to make sure I don't gain the weight back. I'll be eating raw for a couple of weeks or so, then vegan for a few weeks, then returning to the flat belly diet with lots of seafood. I'll also be continuing to jog twice/day then start working out with weights again soon. I hope that does it.
Good luck to all of you, keep doing what you're doing, it's all mind over matter! ;)

Hello Everyone!
Well tomorrow I am starting the MC for another shot. I attempted it last week but only lasted 3 days, I had a headache everyday and was EXTREMELY tired (due to not drinking enough water) and I used this weekend to do more research and prepare myself for this 10 day attempt. I can do it!!! :D
My goal for the MC is to rid my body of toxins and just start over my eating habits, plus losing a few lbs. doesnt hurt either!
Anyways, about to hit the sack and it's about tea time for me!

Hey cindywilcox congratulations on completing the full 50 days. The way you've looked after yourself this past year is an absolute inspiration. I feel like I'm on the beginning of my journey in the hope of getting myself sorted both in terms of diet and fitness. As you've shared your experiences on the board I'll be able to read back over things when I need that little kick or motivational boost.
My cleanse starts with the tea tomorrow evening and then in full flow (so to speak) on Wednesday. I've put on around 40lbs over the past 5 years and since then have never actually felt well, so this is the reboot my system needs to get me off the addiction I have with so many foods. After this I'll go on a raw diet to keep the cleansing benefits going.
Thanks again for sharing and I wish you all the very best in your new slim and healthy lifestyle.

Thanks namasteone! I use quite a lot of the pepper - I like it spicy!! I'll add even more! LOL You know, I did "The Firm" again yesterday and AGAIN gained .3 pounds!!!! Like I said, normally I am seeing a 1.0-1.5 pound loss daily but both times after resistance training my weight went UP!!!!! I know weight loss should not be the only motivation, but honestly it is for me.....I'd been running like a mad woman and eating healthy and losing so slowly. Thanks for the tip!!

Good morning, everyone. This is my first day of the great MC. Last night I drank a cup of SM tea before I went to bed. I woke up around 6 a.m. with cramps. So, I used the bathroom and it was loose stool. I am fine and about to drink my SWF. I have already been tempted by food when I made my kid's their breakfasts but just told myself NO, 40 days! So, I internally said goodbye to all the food in my pantry. :) So dramatic, I know. Anyway, I am going to go chug this quart of salt water. I'll let you know how it goes later. Take care!

Today is day 1 of 40.
I did a 10 day cleanse back in December that was wonderful but I had to call it off at 10 days because of the holiday meals and the like.
I've been travelling too much for work during the remainder of the time but I will actually be home for the next 40 days thus I'm running on the master cleanse until I get there.
When I get out on the other side I'm going to be doing a hybrid approach of the Daniel Graham's 80/10/10 diet and Victoria Boutenko's green smoothies.
Hope everyone is healthy and happy.

K....I am so tired. I have no clue why! I have had my SWF and a few excursions in the bathroom. I have also drank a LA and I am about to drink another. I just feel tired and I am starting to feel a slight headache come on. So, I think once I finish my 2nd LA I am going to lay down for a nap. I am just going to listen to my body and see what it says. I know right now it is thinking a turkey sammich on wheat bread sounds good! But I'm not going to listen :) Wish me luck!

Hello ALL DAY 8!!! WOW Chugging right along!!! been feeling pretty good! I still am only getting down 6-7 LA a day and wonder if it should be more...I doi think I need more water as well...I am a lousy drinker to begin with...and have gone many normal days with only one or twwo drinks in a day...I don't know why that is...but I need to work on it...
Donny are you still out there? Hope you were able to hang in there!!!!
All you newbies!!! I can't speak for any one but me, but after the first day and occassional moments here and there I have not felt hungry...but still would like to eat what other people are eating...just proves how much we eat when we don't need to!!!! Last night was the temptation of all times...My two year has been begging to make cookies for days so I finally gave in and we made them...Do you know how hard it is to make homeade chocolate chip cookies without eating the dough!!!???? And than of course they looked perfect when they were done and smelled oh so good!!! And then he broke it apart and the chocolate pulled apart like on the comercials all nice and gooey!!! THAT WAS TOUGH!!! But I made it with out one einsy weensy lick

THEETH BRUSHING......don't know what everyone else has done...I know Peter said he was fine without using any paste.....so that's what I was trying...but smelling and tasting the LA in my glass, in my mouth on my tougne and in the bathroom 24/7 was getting to me...so I went on an adventure, not wanting to add anything different to the diet, and decided to try brushing my teeth with sea salt..AND guess what it worked great!!!! My teeth felt great and actually looked nice and bright and the taste from my mouth was gone!!!
Don't know if anyone else has tried this maybe itr's common I don't know....but it worked for me....it's just kinda like that first bite in a Salty Philly Pretzel!!! :D

Anyone still doing this? I just started my first master cleanse EVER. It's my second day and I'm craving everything terrible. My husband has doritos at home and I can't stop thinking about them! EEK. Tell me that the cravings go away.
Also, is the salt water flush necessary? I didn't do it this morning, but I had no problems in that department this morning either.

Hello everyone!! I just finished a 12 day cleanse and feel great!! This is my fourth cleanse in 2 years but the first time that I've ever gone more than 10 days. I kept going because I had more lemonade left. I would have gone 13 days but I just plain gave in!! After the first 3 days, I had so much energy that I hardly needed any sleep. I actually went out alot on the weekends to nightclubs for birthday functions and just because. While everyone else was drinking, I was still able to have a great time with my little cup if water! Which goes to show that you can go out and have a great time at social events without having to drink any alcohol. Who knew!!
This is one of the first times that I also tracked my progress via Facebook and the status application. I got alot of people interested in trying the clease because of all the great results that I've been advertising. I refer them to this site, of course :)
Good luck to all!!! If you are struggling a particular day, (on day 7 I was extrememly tired an irritated) just trust that it will all be worth it and that you will be better off the next day!
happy cleansing :)

Yeah... I am experiencing headaches, hot flashes (I am 29) and fatigue. I told my kids when they got home from school today to keep it in the kitchen. When my 6 yr old came in with her snack, I felt like vomiting. Weird! I thought I would crave it. I guess not. ANyway, I am suffering a bit, but I was told day 5 is much better. Here I come day 5....I hope!

HI!
I'm on day 5 of my first master cleanse. i have a question for you experts. I have been retaining most or all of my SWF every morning. I've had 1 decent movement (day 1) and the last 2 days have not expelled ANY liquid. Does that mean my body is absorbing it all? Are my kidneys not functionting properly? I've played with the measurements too trying between 1 1/2 - 3 teaspoons of salt. I've been following the diet religiously. 64 oz lemon mixture, lax tea every night, at least 100 oz water. What do i do???

Ugh. Finishing up day 6 here, and I just want to quit. (And it's not like I'm a newbie. This is my fifth MC, one a year. Most have been 10 to 12 days, but my first was 28 days, and I didn't have nearly this trouble.) I am just sick to death of the taste of lemons, limes, maple syrup, and molasses. The pepper doesn't bother me ... except it makes me crave tacos.
Actually, I want to transition to all juice and broth. I could handle a long-term juice fast of fruit and vegetable juices; but I don't know if I can make it to Friday night with just this stinkin' lemonade. Even turning it into a slushy and eating it with a spoon hasn't helped.
For the last three days, I am just hanging on by the skin of my teeth. Literally. What is it with the cleanse making your teeth feel furry?
Is this overwhelming desire to just quit a bad detox symptom that I need to work through?

Hello All and welcome Newbies!
Evening of day 8 and really obsessing about food. This has definitely been harder than my first cleanse. It's not hunger so much as the desire for the comfort of food - it's been an emotionaly difficult winter and week - not because of the cleanse but despite it.
Last night I dreamt about a piece of buttered white toast - something I don't even eat anymore...for years! Last time I cooked every night for my husband, this time he's handling his own meals. Possibly because he decided the night before we started that he wasn't ready so backed out.:p
I haven't come this far to quit, but I sure have thought about it:o.
What helped, you ask? Today I tried on clothes for a 3-day event we have this weekend and 'old' clothes fitting much better is a consolation, for sure. This is my means of measuring as I don't believe weighing myself daily is a mentally healthy habit.
Other good news: I've cleaned out a lot of ... stuff! Everyday I have some semi-solids for the first two bm's.
So... besides one day of raging headache and being tired and emotionally wrung out...I haven't had much by way of unpleasant physical detox symptoms.
If I've made it through this time...you all certainly CAN do it. Go for it and be CLEAN:D

Missing a day of the SWF isn't a big deal but you want to get all the gunk the lemonade loosened up out of your intenstines, flush it. Believe it or not the BM help the cravings out of your body, and you want to get toxins out!

Hey there...Im right there with ya..Day 6..kinda over it. Usually this is my best day with the most energy, but not really today. I do Agave now, with limes, and it makes the juice taste better in my opinion.
So I have lost a few pounds..I kind of ballooned out before going on the cleanse...but feeling a little more comfortable in my skin..so whats a girl to do? go shopping!!
Nothing major, but tried on a few tops, and turned and looked at my backside in the mirror...AHHHH! I didn't realize it had gotten that big! Ha ha one of those moments with myself to get that eating under control, thats part of what I want to accomplish on this...and I'm over half way there...so keep it movin.'..friday here we come.

Hi All, I'll be starting Day 1 of MC6 tomorrow. I'm very psyched! I've had the hardest time getting started, actually drank the tea several times over the past few months, but never made it to the real day 1. My last cleanse was in July 2008, for 13 days and it was great, but I took a job waiting tables at a restaurant during the day, in August. I think that has made it very hard for me to stay away from food, since I have to focus on it so much during the day. Add to that the physical work, walking around and carrying heavy plates for 4 hours, combined with smelling amazing smells . . . and I have a hard time NOT overeating when I get home. Plus, I tell myself it's ok to eat a larger-than-necessary breakfast since I'm "working through lunch". This will be the first cleanse where I have to work under such conditions. My other job, in real estate, allows me to take lemonades with me all day, and also allows for more trips to the bathroom. Well, I've got to do it! So tomorrow is day 1 for me. Anyone else starting tomorrow?

Glad to read about newbies starting and vetrans starting another MC. I am on day one of my first MC. I wondered what all the fuss was regarding the SWF. Wow, now I understand  uk! But made it though and read how important it is so will do the MC just like the book suggests.
Suddenly tonight, I feel SO bloated.
hang in there everybody ;), I'll try to remember that myself tomorrow.

NMadden~stared AGAIN today. Not sure how long I will last but going to try again. I can't imagine doing this while working at a restaurant but if you want anything bad enough you can do it. My 'eating' coworker is off this week so hoping it will be a little easier for me to jumpstart. She is always bringing in a million snacks and foods for all to eat and for me I could only say no for so long. GOOD LUCK on yours and just take it one day at a time!

Good Morning;
Day 9 on MC #2. So far, the day is starting off pretty well (it's early, still;))
Today and tomorrow are busy so I am hoping these, my last two days, will pass quickly - no pun intended!
ChristineW79: Regarding the frozen LA; I have read on this board of other people doing so. But I would just caution you not to do it too much. Fresh-squeezed lemon juice is full of good enzymes that help with nutrients and with detoxing. However, the enzymes lose their effect when treated to extremes in temperature. (That's why pasterized or even refrigerated juices are considered 'dead' juices after a relatively short period of time.)
Welcome Newbies!
Way to go fellow 9 day-ers! Let go through tomorrow successfully!

Well, I caved. Broke fast last night. First time I've ever not made ten days. But I feel SO much better this morning, that I think I am not too sorry. Disappointed, yes. Sorry, no.
I'm guessing that much of it was just detoxing too hard. As I mentioned before, I've had two surgeries in the last year, and I've been on antibiotics for over a year. Besides the rash on my tummy, which has now spread to my thighs and arms, I was tired ALL the time, and I yearned for food. Any food. Actually, come to think of it, not any food. Meat and dairy were not tempting at all, but the thought of a gigantic salad, or a bowl of raw vegetables with hummus, or some mixed fresh fruit was sooooo tempting. (Which in itself is odd, as I am a devoted carnivore. Usually, I crave steak and tacos.)
Anyhow, so I'm pulling out my copies of my friend Tonya Zavasta's books and I'm going to do a juice fast using her recipes. If that is still too hard a detox, I will add in some of her raw food recipes as well. I'm determined to be meat- and cheese-free at least until Easter. If I can avoid most cooked stuff as well, so much the better. (I avoid grains because they have a bad impact on my blood glucose, and they tend to give me bad intestinal cramps.)
Good luck to all who are continuing on ... maybe next year I can make my 10 again.

I'm on day #5 and doing great. I am hungry but not overwhelmingly so. When I feel hungry I do deep breathing and relaxation techniques for a couple minutes and it passes. I have been able to continue doing my regular routine of 90 minutes of yoga and 3-4 miles of running/walking per day so far. I am finding out just how much time in my day is spent thinking of food, planning meals, eating etc.. and now I try to fill that time with other things since I'm not working right now. I have finished a rug, take the dogs on more walks, caught up on projects and watched a lot of movies. I love making meals for my partner since it gives me something to do. The hardest part is remembering to not snitch bites and tastes of things but so far so good! On day #4 I had an off and on headache and mild stomach cramps but did some specific yoga poses for stomach and head and that too passed. I am looking forward to seeing how the second half of the cleanse goes Good luck to everyone! BREATHE!

Hi everyone! I'm on day two of my first MC and I have to say, I'm feeling great! Not really hungry much but this is only day two :). I do have a question about BM... except for the 1st one in the morning, about 30 minutes after the SWF, BM has solid pieces; all BM after that are just liquid with no solids in them at all. Is this normal? I am following the book exactly - smooth move at night, SWF in the morning (2 tsp per quart of water), 8 glasses of lemonade per day... am i just being impatient?
happy cleansing!! :D
Bobby
March 3rd, 2009, 02:48 PM
Hi Mimilia; Relax, you are perfectly normal in the BM department. Everyone's body is a little different so If you can, read through some of the other information on this board (other than just this thread). You will undoubtedly find 'kindred souls' whose experiences are similar to your own.
We all detox from different things and in many varied ways. Thankfully we are not all the same;)! It's a good thing something's coming out!
Editormum: Don't beat yourself up too much. I though for awhile, I might be the one writing that message. Food has continued to be an obssesion during this cleanse for me. I can't explain it because I eat better than the SAD and have for some time. But Peter has said that every fast/cleanse is defferent. Take care of yourself. Hope to meet you back here sometime!

Day 2 for me I FEEL GREAT! I dont feel tempted to eat...I do however have a concern. What about the fact that we are not eating or consuming any protien? Will our muscles be depleted or damaged it any way? Thanks
I've had the same concern, before the mc i used weights 3x's per week and ate a good amt of protein (usually in eggwhite form or chicken). I'm a little concerned about muscle loss but figure i can rebuild any loss pretty quickly after the cleanse!:D

I think that has made it very hard for me to stay away... Anyone else starting tomorrow?
Hi NMadden...
Ive done the same thing... starting the tea, sometimes even making it halfway through Day 1 and then some distraction takes me off course. Ive done this enough to know that when its right its right! I tried starting last week... going for 30 days... but the first day myself and my husband came down with horrible colds (no, not detox!!!) and without the energy to get to the grocery store for my lemons, it was over before it started!
So tonight I once again start my tea and tomorrow will be Day 1. I have 5 weeks until my birthday and I enjoy the feeling of being cleansed before starting MY new year. Best wishes to everyone struggling through. Its a great light, centered, proud feeling when the cleanse is over. I went off the vegetarian bandwagon years ago and am using this cleanse to get me back on track with that also. If anyone else wants to see how to extend the benefits of the cleanse go to youtube to watch "Meet your meat" (Warning: its graphic and I dont want to offend anyone...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIjanhKqVC4) and "Milk does a body bad" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mT1rodfjrnk ).
To each his own, I just thought I would pass along the things that touch me and move me to do this cleanse and take care of myself and my family and have a smaller carbon footprint.

Oh, and the questions about not having protein: Our bodies do not need as much as we've been told they do. The strongest mammals on our planet are vegetarian! Being on the cleanse is not a diet... its not to take the place of all the components of a healthy 365 day a year diet. Its a cleanse and as that our bodies handle doing without protein for the short periods we put it through. Working out through the cleanse has sooo many wonderful benefits. The top two: It keeps your muscle cells intact and it sweats out even more toxins from your system!

Hi..Im new to the board. This is my 2nd "attempt" at doing the Master Cleanse. Well the 1st time was an attempt becuase I stopped afetr 4 days but this time Im gonna do the minimum of 10 days. Im on Day 3 I must say today was tough! Today was my 1st day back to work and I realized the stress from my job made me want to eat something solid. And when lunch time came everything I smelled I craved it drove me crazy. I want to take a walk but it was below 30 in Baltimore today so I was stuck in scent hell. Im determine to stick it out I want to make a life style change and eat better.
Also my face has broken out is this a Detox symptom? I have Peter's book and I remember reading about someone getting a rash but I can't find the excerpt again to see if the rash cleared up! If anyone can help me it would be very helpful!
Thanks!

Hi All! I think I missed posting yesterday. Anyways, today is Day 9 for me and honestly, I'm glad this cleanse will be over. I'm just consumed with thoughts of that heirloom tomato with sea salt!!!!! Other than that, I've been fine. This MC was less taxing than the last in that I didnt break out at all. I have been hovering at the 5 pound weight loss, but have lost an an inch and a half from hips and waist. I wont have time to get online tomorrow, so I just wanted to say a big MAHALO and THANK YOU to all of you for your incredible support! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE continuing their cleanses and I'll see all of you again in June!

End of day 7..yay. I am just always so tired on the cleanse, but love the turning point around this time when things start to look up and I can feel the benefits emotionally. I think if it weren't for the time consuming SWF I would go on for longer...well that and my sister is visiting and we love to eat good food, and go wine tasting!!!

Hey everyone!
I'm just ending Day 5. Has not been as bad as I thought it was going to be. I went with my mom to Red Lobster tonight to meet one of her friends and that was a little tough, but otherwise, it's been good. I'm in a place where I don't have access to a scale, but my clothes are feeling a little different, so I think things are changing. The thing I'm kind of concerned about is that I don't seem to be having any major detox symptoms. But it's only half way - maybe it'll happen this second half.
Anyway - this has been an interesting experience to say the least. It's amazing how much focus we as a culture put on eating. Not really food, but eating. The portions are huge, we stuff our faces without even thinking about what we're putting in our mouths. I'm grateful for this experience of MC even if it is for that realization. I don't think I'll eat the same way going forward.

Morning! I am on day 11!! I am going for 20 days. I am pretty frustrated because the last four days I have only lost .5 lbs!!! :( WHY?????? :( I was losing at least a pound a day! I'm a girl, and it's that time of the month for me - is that what's going on??? I wanted to lose 7-10 lbs the second half!!! Jeez it feels awful to not be eating and not lose along with it!!! I also noticed that yesterday I didnt drink as much of the lemonade as I should. Think I'll take the tip from you guys and make some with limes, just for an "exciting" change LOL All and all the cleanse has been awesome and not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. Thanks everyone!:)

Morning all!
I am starting day 7 and although I feel fine, I can't wait to eat again!!! I am happy with the results so far, I have lost 12lbs!!! my skin looks brighter and I feel good. I thought about quitting twice, but i'm so glad i didn't. Today is going to be tough, I'm taking my children out to Panera for lunch (yum) and I heard that often day 7 is a tough detox day. We'll see. Good luck to everyone!!

Well I've finally started and it's Day 1 for me. I'm so glad I managed to prepare myself so well because it's a real struggle so far. The swf was easy enough and I came off caffeine before the cleanse to prevent head pains, but I have a headache now and feeling really nauseous. Oddly although I hate feeling like this it's also very reassuring to see the detox symptoms are starting. The only thing worrying me is I'm struggling to drink the LA but I figure on day 1, as long as I get enough water in me and drink as much as I can of the LA it'll be ok.
Anyway, if there's anyone else on their first day it'd be nice to keep up with your progress too.
For everyone else I hope you're getting on great and the detox symptoms are bearable.
Looking forward to tomorrow and this nausea to be flushed away.

Is it possible to detox bee venom out of my body? I am deathly allergic to bees and had a near death experience in 2004. I was taken away in an ambulance and spent 2 nights in the hospital. During that time, I had 9 shots of epinephrine. The doctors said they had never seen someone react that badly. I now get 3 shots (5 different types of bee venom) once a month to maintain my venom immunity. I don't want to detox the venom out of my body because I might react next time I get my injections...and have to build up again to meet my maintenance level.
I am on day 5 right now. The evening of day 3, my heart was racing and I felt very jittery. On day 4, I woke up feeling fine, but the heart racing started within an hour of waking. I feel like my adrenaline is on high gear and I kept having muscle twitches all over. For abut 3 hours, I also felt tightness in my throat and was unalbe to take a full deep breath.
I normally eat about 90% raw and do Bikram yoga 5-6 times a week. The only thing I can imagine that I am detoxing is bee venom, which would not be a good thing. I can't imagine that my doctor would be happy or feel safe giving me my next injections after I tell him about the cleanse. I am for 'all natural,'' but I am not about to test the waters and attempt to make my life threatening allergy to bees go away naturally. I am a cyclist and the last thing I want is to be terrified every time I go out for a ride!
I have done extensive 'googling' and have not found this anywhere. Any thoughts?
Thank you!!!!

WOW!!! DAY 10 is already here...trying to decide if I will continue on or not....if I lived alone it'd be an easy choice just to keep going...but the demands of a family make it hard, at least mine...nothing like having a two year old in the bathroom with you in the mornings....and my husband can't wait for me to eat again...he said to keep going if I want...but he doesn't like this cleanse...tongue still has a whiteish tan coating....I haven't felt that boost of energy I keep reading about...feel kind of lazy and unmotivated...maybe I needed more LA (about 6 a day Avg) or maybe it's this cold weather...I don't know...I haven't been exercising either...so that also could be part of it....I have lost a few pounds although I don't know where!!!!!!!
Good Luck to all you newbies starting out....Day 3 was rough for me but other than that it was a fairly easy hall to ten days....I just convinced myself that it would be pointless to eat something because it would make me feel sick...and by the time I broke the fast correctly I wouldn't want that particular thing anymore and would be mad at myself for breaking the cleanse!!!
Donny...I guess you didn't make it????? I'll check back tonight to see how everyone is doing.....:D

Good morning, Day 2 here. I'm still very stoked, which is good. Last night I thought about quitting, because of the caffeine headache. Also, I think some of it was just not getting as many calories as I am used to, worked at a restaurant during lunch so I couldn't drink enough LA. But woke up this morning and the headache was almost gone.
My hubby started Day 1 today, so it should make it a little easier now that I don't have to watch him eat, just the kids! Going for 15 days.

Well day 3 of 40 here.
Nothing too exciting to report except that this go round is MUCH easier than my 10 day fast. I can only think that's compliments of the green smoothies I've been consuming since my prior cleanse thus the cravings just aren't there.
Of course disgusting stuff still passes out as a result of the salt water flush which is why I think it's INSANE that anyone would do this fast without the flush.
I guess the only thing I'm not happy with is the halitosis that goes along with the funky tongue but like the SWF I realize it's simply a necessary step.

Day 8.....Holy headache!! For the first time last night I had the WORST headache, I always get some insomnia too but last night was a gnarly combo of both! I had upped my cayenne so that was probably it. And it was weird, I felt like I could feel the cayenne running thru my body, especially legs. They say a lot of toxins are stored in your legs and I def think that holds true. And I was getting hot flashes when I have been FREEZING!! Oh the MC you are so unpredictable!

Day 3 here on my 2nd MC! :D
I've had a headache for almost 2 days now - but that's okay. I'm 100% positive it's because I'm not getting my daily Coffee...which, let me tell you, I'm surprised I haven't had the urge to punch something cute.:p Surprisingly, I'm not craving the coffee TOO bad.
I do have a lot of energy though which makes it wonderful since I have a full time job during the day and also teach at a gym in the evenings and on the weekends.
Silver lining? I'm almost done with the first 3 days - which are the hardest!!!
Good luck everyone, and keep with it!!!!;)

Hi Peter, or anyone else that can help:
I am on Day 3 of the Master Cleanse. I have been doing everything perfectly but do not seem to have solid BMs. They are in liquid/diarrhea form. I was taking the laxative tea the first 2 nights but stopped...I will take it again once I start having solid BMs (as said in your book). Anyways, is this normal? I feel that by day 3 I should be seeing more interesting-looking eliminations?
Also, is the salt water flush targeting cleansing in your pee or in your poop? I feel like it is coming out in my BMs.
Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Hello! I am new to the board AND new to the Master Cleanse! After doing much research, I finally started. I am on Day One. Instead of doing the SWF in the mornings, I am drinking the Smooth Move tea. Today, I made the lemonade for the first time and surprisingly found that I like the flavor! It may be a tad too syrupy.... I would like to reduce the amount of maple syrup I put in it.
So far, I feel like I have a bit of heartburn. I also feel a bit tired and have a slight headache.

Good Evening Lemonheads!
Wrapping up day 10. Although not required according to Burroughs I think it makes sense to finish my cleanse with Smooth Move tea tonight and a final SWF in the morning. I figure, since I've had LA all day and my tongue is still coated, I should get rid of as many lurking toxins as possible.
Then probiotics and grapefruit juice for me tomorrow!
Thanks for all the amusing insights and support, everyone!
Wow, premenstrual cleansing was a whole new experience, much more difficult! But, to you Newbies especially, stick with it. It's a great integrity builder! Men - count your blessings!:p

Day 2... its taken two weeks of prep (and a few failed attempts) to get here but I finally am! I'm hoping this will mostly be a positive experience having done them before and knowing what to expect... but I don't know about going past 16 days! Anyone out there do an extended cleanse? The last two I did I felt like I could have gone longer but time wise and with certain family functions coming up I couldn't do longer. This time I have a full 33 days open in my schedule so I am going to see how long I can go and if I'm feeling added benefits. Any insight from anyone having gone past two weeks would be great!

Day 3, Woke up with the worst headache and dry heeves. Was hoping that the SWF would flush the headache away but it hasn't. Cheeks are flushed. Weird it's like I can feel some of my lymph nodes - hope they are cleaning. Went to a palm reader and she told me I was toxic and full of poison so I am hoping that this will take care of it. Have the ridges in my fingernails, which I read means my colon isn't absorbin nutrients. Really have high expectations for this. Praying has really helped me focus, because I do love the taste of food. Have a great day!

Today is my 1rst day of cleansing. I'd been contemplating doing it for a week or so, and yesterday, I finally went out and purchased the ingredients. So far, I've only had 20 ozs. of the lemonade and the entire quart of sea salted warm water. BOY oh BOY was that an experience!!!! I'll have the herbal tea tonight before I go to bed, but by then, I'll have at least 40 more ozs. of the lemonade.
I have to admit, I like the extra kick that the cayenne pepper adds and I plan to make lemonade with cayenne pepper even when not doing the cleanse. Who knew I'd like it! Not I (*_*)

It was my assumption that it was but when reading the book it is just the night before the actual cleanse that is mentioned. Wish me luck

Hello lemonheads,
This is my 2nd MC and I'm finishing up day 11.My first MC was 15 days and that one began on January 1ST,2007.The detox symptoms on the third night of that MC were awful.but I stuck it out and lost 18 lbs in 15 days. This time around I chose to pre-flush my system the week before starting by eating plenty of fruits and drinking plenty of water while cutting down on coffee. It has made all the difference in the world! These last 11 days have been smooth sailing, but I might add that I took 2 weeks vacation to dedicate myself to this task.My biggest challenge is always the SWF.I read somewhere that an alternatve method would be drinking the salt in 16oz of water followed by 16oz of regular water. That seemed to work fine for 3 days but today, I couldn't hold it down.I always heat up the SWF and drink it with a straw-which works wonders-but today I didn't heat up the entire amount, only the salt portion. So I drank the 2nd portion unheated and sat down at the computer to await the inevitable tremors.I made it to the bathroom just in time.I won't make that mistake again. This time,I'm gong for 21 days, or until my body tells me otherwise.Good luck to all!!!

Finishing Day 2 with my tea which brings up a few questions I saw posted:
Piggy5, You are never going to have a solid BM for the rest of your fast! Its just all "pee" from the wrong place from this point out! Occasionally there are people on here who say something solid comes out a few weeks later or even a month later (gross) but the usual is: lemon in, lemon out! And yes, the swf is to make sure the toxins come out of your bowels. Its easy to pee out toxins, the swf makes sure none stay in your bowels and get reabsorbed back into your system. Anyone not doing the swf should absolutely reconsider.
Mindster, I don't think anyone here on the boards would tell you anything different than to talk to your doctor or locate a homeopathic doctor in your area who might have a better idea what this is all about than a regular doctor. I would assume that as soon as your off the cleanse and continue your bee venom treatments you'll be fine but that's something to talk to a doctor about.
Namesteone, The veggie broth is after a day or two of orange juice... up to you and how your system is feeling but its definitely just a broth!
Meghan324, yes the tea is for every single night before you go to bed. You have to play with steeping times to find out what works best for you but I steep for at least 5 minutes and when I wake up do the swf (warmed to soup temperature and downed in under 3 minutes) and everything "flows" from there!
Hi Fruitloop, you were looking for anyone else out there starting the same day as you! Looks like me and Unekmama are here for the ride!
And Buvy, you have a fellow long-hauler here with you. I'm going for 30+ but will take it as it comes!
I'm doing this this time to truly change my eating habits for the long haul. I want to eat more raw, and stick to a predominantly vegetarian diet. They say it takes 30 days to create a habit, good or bad, so that's why I'm doing the extended fast this time. The last two times I fell off the healthier way of eating too soon after my fasts and don't feel I honored what the purpose of the fast should be, you know?
Best of luck to everyone finishing up, starting out and in the middle of the road.

DAY 2
Managed to get through day 2! My energy level is still low, but surprisingly, I woke up very early and refreshed today. I am usually a very late sleeper. I am following the advice to take it easy and let myself rest when I feel I need to. Although I still pretty hungry in between lemonade drinks, and I am still fantasizing about food, I feel that every day I get behind me enables me to keep going. While the first 2 days of smooth move tea made me a little nauseous, today's went down fine! Whew.
What is really hard is how there are food advertisements EVERYWHERE you look! Ack! I normally don't like burgers and rarely EVER eat fast food, but I actually salivated when I saw a burger king commercial today.

Hey Master Cleansers!
Today is my first day on my first cleanse and I'm super excited for a healthier lifestyle!! I did my first ever lax tea last night and my fist SWF this morning. I am on my second lemon-lime ade:) The lax tea was not pleasant as I think it is pure senna and gave me uncomfortable cramps. I think I will dilute it with 1/2 cup of water tonight. I bought the book which is how I found out about this website and I'm glad I did. I look forward to reading everyone's thoughts and experiences. Anyone else start the cleanse today ???

Hello all cleansing folks...I am on day 3 of my cleanse....I am losing weight and feeling good...the first two days i had good energy...but yesterday evening I started getting aches all over, tired...and all..but I am persevering.....there r two quotes that I like that I got from www.therawdivas.com
one by Eleanor Roosevelt " You must do that thing you think you cannot do" and by someone else...this one.... " If your going through hell....keep going" so I am keeping on...I am so excited about making it to my third day...yesterday when I smelled the broccoli soup I made for my hubby and son it was tempting...but I did not give in.....now tell me someone about the salt water....I have never done that before with this cleanse.....and I have got to get a box of Smooth Move...ok..love, light and lots of great energy sent to all of you who are taking charge of your bodies....regaining your health.... IT IS CALLED THIS ................ " Breaking Free and Healing " !!!!! Namaste', Celissa

Good Morning,
Day 3!!!! SWF down & on my 2nd glass of lemonade. I'm feeling really sleepy but I think it's because I woke up earlier than normal today. I've been off work for a few weeks and have been waking up at 11 am. I' get these hot flashes throughout the day and my stomach growls really bad but I'm not feeling hungry. I go back to work next Wednesday so I'm hoping to stick it through and be over the hardest part of MC by then.
Overall, I have been feeling great. I visited this blog about a week before starting and I have done a couple things differently... I am making two fresh lemonade servings at a time and drinking it hot like tea. I am drinking the SWF as hot as tolerable via a straw; what a fifference this makes!! I stopped drinking coffe & all dark soft drinks a few weeks so I could avoid the caffeine withdrawal. No headaches so far....
I read in the MC book that SWF in the AM & laxative tea at night and have always followed this. I understand that if you can't do SWF then laxative tea also in the AM. I read on a thread that someone was doing SWF & laxative tea in the AM. Q- Can sm1 please explain why this is recommended. Or if I have misunderstood the book or thread?
Thanks everyone!

Hello everyone! Today is day 5 of my first cleanse and I feel just ok... I thought day 3 was supposed to be the hardest but I think today may be. Perhaps it's because I'm not looking forward to the weekend... I used to look forward to weekends because my husband and I have this routine of gym/sushi/starbucks on saturdays and I CAN'T HAVE SUSHI!! :(
please give me strength...
by the way, are you really not supposed to use toothpaste because of the fluoride? Why and what do you use in substitution?

Tiggy what are you doing? Is it just habit now the LAs??...LOL WHERES YOUR OJ GIRL? I think your body is on autopilot..haha...Im still going strong... lost 18lbs in 11 days...didnt do any measurements though. Im sticking with it cuz I know if I stop now I will go back to my bad way of eating..so need to cleanse a little longer til I figure out what diet I want to do...Not completley raw and not completely veggie. I like my seafood and chicken...OK well everyone have a great weekend!!! and keep squeezin!!!:p
Have you thought about eating clean? It isn't vegitarian, but it is healthy. You can check out clean eating on the internet. Tosca Reno also has books, recipes etc. I feel great when I eat that way! It might be a good compromise for you!!

Day 10 here...I can't even explain what came out of me still after 10 days! Ha ha , I used the psyllium husk this time w/ the SWF and I think it gives, uh em, better results? After that I feel like I should go on for longer, but my sister is coming to town. Next time, I guess. I did trim down, have a better outlook on life, and am ready to workout like normal! Take care eveyone, this is the best thing you can do for yourself. Good Luck, Heads up---

I think the only reason to do both in the am is if you were not getting any results at all....the best way to do is just as it says in the book tea at night, swf 1st thing in the AM than the LAs and water during the day...

Halfway through day four. Have had actual BMs every morning and just had another with solid waste. Have a tremendous headache. Lost 0 pounds. Really not concerned with the weight but the solid waste, I do however have 20-30 pounds to lose. Any secrets to losing weight?

Day 4 going smoothly here. Day 1 was the hardest so far, just getting started! Today I was really exhausted, actually took a nap. The smooth move has woken me up the past 2 nights with 4am cramps and BMs. And my SWF isn't working as well as it usually does. Might drink a tea tomorrow morning instead. I haven't had the crippling headaches that I sometimes do while cleansing, just feeling more weak and cold. The coldies really set in today, and I was so looking forward to enjoying the nice weather, it's almost 70 degrees here, and I still have to wear my underaromour!

The cayenne pepper actually helps speed up the calorie burning so if you can tollerate it, add more. Also, you can cut back on the amount of ms you use to 1tbs. Good luck!

Maybe you could decrease the time that you steep your tea. Or make a half cup and dilute it with water. I had one night (day 3) where i was up most of the night with cramps and bm and i decreased my steeping time and it has been fine!!

Well, I made it thru day 1 and was pleasantly surprised that I was not hungry at all..........and as I mentioned in my first posting, I actually like the kicked up lemonade!!!! I didn't drink any tea last night tho. I was just too full from all the other liquids.
Today is day 2 and so far, I'm not hungry although my stomach is growling. I drank tea first thing this morning, followed by 10 ozs of LA an hour later. Then around 10ish, the SWF and 12 ozs of bottled water. I don't know if I can stomach salt water first thing in the mornong, so for now, I'm gonna do the flush around 10am........Had a good bm about an hour ago! I feel GREAT!!!!
Now I'm off to drink another round of LA.......(*_*)

Hello, I'm getting ready to start an MC. I have done a 7 day one a few years ago. Tried again last year but wasn't doing well, lost a ton of weight in the first day or two and can't afford to lose any.
I have a question about the new stainless steel water bottle craze. Just wondering if the acid LA reacts with the steel. I'd rather use steel than plastic as I don't have any of the new BPA free plastic bottles.
