Thanks Lemoneater1!

I don't think I'm going to do the 30 day raw challenge. I've been looking at the recipes and I don't have a decent food processor, mine is way to small. I'm not working right now and can't afford to buy a good one. It doesn't seem possible to do that without one. My blender is on it's last legs as well. It also looks like a lot of time involved in doing that so I think I'll spend about 10 days eating raw and coming off of this, then maybe a week or two eating vegan, then return to the flat belly diet. Although the flat belly diet is not vegan, I think it's still a pretty good diet for the average American to stick to. It emphasizes monounsaturated fats meaning lots of seeds and nuts and oils from those seeds and nuts, avocados, and dark chocolate - all approved by raw food lovers. It also emphasizes eliminating the bad fats and bad carbs and eating the good fats, the good carbs, protein and in the right proportions. That's my plan!

Ah thank you, i'm pleased about the loss too!

I have worked out in the gym about 6 times, did 2 good walks & rested up the rest of the time. Just listened to my body.

I wanted to go for a 25 day fast from middle of march - is that ok? not too soon? It's just I have wedding then a gap of a few weeks that i can do it before a party & would love to loose more!

Leernr: You shouldn't cleanse too often and close together because you're Detoxing the heck out of your body. You're losing some good things along with mostly bad so you need to give your body a chance to replenish and nourish itself. If you take away the good things again too soon your body will manifest it's need for nourishment by odd things like "hair falling out" etc if you do.

Flora: There's lots of tips for drinking the SWF.

Use warm water
Lick a lemon in between swigs
Make sure you're using TEASPOONS and not tablespoons
Use mild celtic gray sea salt
Use Straws (this is a life saver)
Browse the Internet or do online shopping or reading while drinking and it will be gone in no time.

It's mostly mind over matter. :)

Cecly: Five days is a "diet" time but not the Master Cleanse. The minimum for a correct cleanse is 10 days. If you can make it 5 you can definitely make it ten. :) You'll kick yourself if you quit too soon.

If you're hungry, drink lemonade. It may not be what you want but it will take away the hunger pangs. C'mon! You know you can do it. You'll get to eat anytime you want when you're done. Tough it out!

Thanks for the info. The thing is i am basically already at my desired weight and will certainly be by day 15. So i'm wondering more about the detoxing aspect of adding two more days on top of the 15. Is the two extra days really worth the stretch? OH yeah. ;)

Hi all,
Its day 23 and I am just sorta bored with the cleanse, I'm not liking the taste of the lemonade and for the last two days I only drank 4 glasses instead of 6. So here is the question, can I water fast for a little while then step back to the O.J. and then transition to whole foods? Anyone done this? What would I expect. Drinking just water would help me do this longer, but then its not the "master cleanse". What do you think?

Hi Fellow MC,
I'm at the end of day 6 now. I feel pretty good. Not hungry. Anyone feeling hungry needs to drink more LJ. Also it may help to drink a big glass of water. I lost 1 lb since yesterday. I had been on the Adkins diet for a very long time, 15 years or so. I've been feeling aches and pains in my ankles & feet which was keeping me from excerising. But now after 6 days, I'm not feeling as much pain in my joints. I'm starting to eliminate a little too since yesterday, day 5. I was able to excerise yesterday & today. I think I'm starting to see some results now! Cindy Wilcox was right about the books helping to keep you motivated. Now I want to go for as long as it takes to get the toxins out. So hang in there and when you start seeing results, you'll feel happier. Flora, try drinking the salt water with a straw. I got used to it after a few days. It's so nice to have all of you doing the cleanse to chat with! Thanks! Good Luck!:)

Thank you Res for your inspiration. I am FINALLY ready to do this. Been on this board since Dec reading and follwing the dialogue and kick myself for not DOING it the whole time. Food is such a part of my life (addiction) that it always one. Felt something changing inside me as I approach 30 and yesterday it hit me. I have my motivational pictures of ME up and now need to take charge of my life. Drinking my tea tonight and looking forward to some clarity. Almost finished with the book Eat, Love, and Pray and it has really gotten me spiritually ready to do this. Started to exercise yesterday and will keep it up though the cleanse. Good luck to all on it and so many have come before us we CAN do it!
See you all there and will post again tomorrow! :D

It's my first day... the laxative tea last night kept me up... I didn't have problem falling asleep... it was the bowel movements... I visited the bathroom 5 times... then the salt water this morning... wow - it was really tough to drink all at once... I had to take a 5min break in between... it made me want to vomit... I had the "butt pee" this morning after the salt water (guess that must be the SWF)... visited the WC twice... didn't feel hungry at all in the morning... then afternoon came and everyone around me was having lunch... (I tried to keep close to the WC just in case...), and I started to feel hungry - my stomach felt a little like "burning"... then my WC adventure started again, this time my "butt pee" burnt too... this time only twice... and now I am feeling hungry again... is this normal... i heard that people don't usually feel hungry... how can i endure the 9 more days...

Hey there everyone! I'm back! Its been a long time, I know. I'm about to do another cleanse starting february 15th. Tea will be the night before of course. It is definitely time for another! My body is screaming for it!

I have a separate question too. A friend of mine did the cleanse at the end of january. He made it all the way up to day 9 and that night, he ate an entire bag of chocolate bars, those little mini ones! I couldn't believe it! I'm amazed his system didn't just shut down!! Its now been two weeks since he's been off and he wants to start again on February 16. Is it safe to do another one so close together? He originally was going to go longer than 10 days the first time and will probably do so this time. Any help is appreciated!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful new year so far!!

Greetings Fellow Lemonheads,

Day 25... don't feel great, don't feel bad, just blah. I'm here, that's it. Better than last night. Yesterday started out great. By last night I was grumpy, hungry, wanted something to eat like there was no tomorrow, and feed up with this cleanse routine. Think there might have been some detox going on. ;) However, pulled through, and still sipping LA. :D

Congrats to everyone for making it another day... Ed :D

No, just pick yourself up and start again.

Before you do that, though, have a good talk with yourself about what you want to achieve on the MC and what caused you to cave. This cleanse is 90% mental. If you aren't in the right place for it, don't start it. You do your body no good whatsoever, and you may do it harm, by starting and stopping and starting and stopping in quick succession.

So if you want to start up again, make a plan for how you will make it succeed. It's only 10 days! And now you know where your pitfalls are.

And don't feel bad if you aren't yet in the right mental place. Just let more time pass until you are.

Happy cleansing!

Hey gang!
I'm new to the board and the cleanse. I'll be starting this weekend, and I'm pumped! At 55, I'm fairly healthy and active, but feel the negative effects of the good ole American diet. I've decided to stick around a few more years and I think the Master Cleanse is perfect for me. I'm looking forward to a lighter detoxified body, a clearer mind, and a new outlook on my future health. I've spent the week preparing- weaning myself off coffee, meat, and soft drinks. I've also completed a 5 day liver, kidney cleanse. Reading Mr. Glickman's book and this Forum have inspired me to the point I know I'll make it!
Thanks for future support!
P.S. I'll be more brief from now on :D

Just wanted to say Hi! I am back after a l-o-n-g (ugly) hiatus and in the midst of my 6th (or so) cleanse - day 17.

I am going to day 22 and then going raw and cannot wait!

I've cleansed more than a few times and the only time I've had lasting results was when raw followed cleanse.

I usually cleanse until I reach my weight loss goal -- that will not be possible this time. So I am planning end, raw, short cleanse when I feel ready.

I cannot even begin to describe the difference 2-1/2 weeks has made. I feel good! It's been a little too long since I've been able to say that -- really good! Wish I had less far to go, but life is a journey.

progress not perfection, my new mantra :)

Hello!
I am going to start my first master cleanse on Sunday February 15th. I have shopped for all of the ingredients and tested them out last night, and today to see if I could handle it. I think I will be able to manage it. I am a Senior in college and want to clear out my system so that I can start fresh and clean, college can take a toll on your body. My only problem is my self control with food...I am not at all overweight, but I have a true love of cooking and food. I'm not sure if I'll be able strong enough, I believe in myself so we'll see. Is there any veterans that could give me some encouraging words of advice, they are in great need here! Thanks!:)

I can't wait for this day to be over. I have done the cleanse 6 times and I always hate Day 3! I always feel better Day 4, so I can't wait to be in Day 4. Usually my boyfriend and I I are really social, but this time, I only planned one social outing that has food, so that should make it easier! But today I want to cave. I won't, because I have good will power, but I want to :p. I think what is pushing me is I have got alot of my friends into doing this and they all finnished the 10 days. Call me competitive, but I can't get them to do it and then I finnish early. It never ceases to amazing how many times I do this, it doesn't seem to get easier the first 3 days. Oh well, enough belly aching, on to drinking LA!!!!!:D:D:D:D

Hi Fellow MC,
it's day 7 for me. Hanging in there. I was also feeling blah today, thought about food a couple times but maybe it is the detox working. They say every 7th day is a hard day. Hang in there Eslicer, you've been a great inspiration to us. 25 days is really great. Hope I can hang that long. Cindy Wilcox is also a great inspiration. Your getting close to your 40 day goal! How does it feel? Welcome to the BB Danno and Good Luck to you. Zeikusal, just keep the LJ with you and drink it often and you won't get hungry. I just keep thinking about detoxing my system, getting rid of my muscle & joint aches & pains and I've also had problems with a skin rash that keeps popping up. I think the toxins in my body have been causing all this so I want to stay on this MC and detox as long as I can. Good Cleansing to Everyone! Hang in there!

Hello,
So many holidays this month! I wanted to get a cleanse in so this ended up being the best 10 days (now on day 2, it's going well so far). I have a training at work on Friday, and I just found out my whole team (like 6 of us) are going out to lunch for a meeting. What do I do/say? I don't feel like explaining that I'm on a cleanse and experiencing the inevitable backlash. I also don't want them to think I have an ED. What should I say? Maybe I should say I feel sick? I got it kind of bad already when I did not eat cookies at a meeting today. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

Sorry, missed that. The rule of thumb is to do a 10-day cleanse approximately 3-4 times a year. So your friend should probably wait a few weeks before starting over.

Thanks, Kathy!! You're a life saver. As soon as he said he was going to start up again, I said 'whoa, whoa, whoa! Hang on!' Lol. I had a feeling it wasn't the best idea, so I told him I'd ask and let him know. I appreciate it! Although, I am a little sad now that we aren't going to do it together. Oh well!!

Omg, I cannot WAIT to start mine!! Seriously, my body is literally screaming for me to do it. It's crazy! And I can't wait to break out the cam and do more vlogs to post on youtube. I need some fresh material. Hehe.

Hello- I'm new...
Actually this is my first post ever... I feel kinda silly.
Anywho, this is my first cleanse, 3rd day. I felt ok this morning, then by the afternoon my throat hurts (thought it might be the pepper?...I think not now) and I'm stuffy. :( Also STARVING, I'm going to drink some more water. My right inner ear hurts as well. I'm going to sleep soon so hopefully this all passes. Really I just feel sick.

This is my 2nd day... 1st day was ok... only that I felt hungry alot in the afternoon after all the eliminations...

I have 1 question: Does it matter if I use a mixture of SPRING WATER and DISTILLED WATER? I bought big bottles of distilled water to use at home, but the water at work is "spring water". I asked the spring water company, and the girl confirmed that there is no flouride in the water.

I weighed myself last night, and found that I have lost 0.8kg.

My second night of laxative tea gave me the same effect, WC trips throughout the night (well, 3 times). When I woke up, the SW was really hard to swallow. I managed to finish 90%. I vomited the final 20% back into the cup... I couldn't get the final 10% down, is it bad news? I only went to the WC twice in the morning after the SWF, is it because of me not being able to finish the final 10%? My lips are very dry today (a humid day here), is this related to the 10% of SW i vomited back out?

Question 2: Does it matter if I drink the SW hot or cold or warm?

I realize that I should not have told people about myself being on a diet... they keep on giving me negative advice... trying to discourage me... :(
So it is really good to have this forum, so see people supporting one another 8)
Hope someone can answer my questions.

Well it's that time of the year again! Planning to start the cleanse this coming Monday - even talked my wife into doing it again (this will be her 2nd).

Anyone here from the UK? Seems Maple Syrup has gone up dramatically in price since last summer when I last did a cleanse. If anyone knows of a good place to get this please let me know.

FatXO: Don't use distilled water - it's dead and leaches important minerals from your body the longer you use it. Burroughs says "Spring Water". :)

SWF: It's just a matter of preference on the temp. I like mine lukewarm - it goes down easier for me and I can't stand it cold - but others love it that way! :)

MC2 DAY25
Good morning my lemon scented friends,
I hope everyone is fine and dandy. I got a nice boost by weighing myself today. I started day 1 at 197.6 and today I am at 171.1.... that's 26.5lbs  and puts me about 10lbs from what I think my best weight would be (haven't been there in a decade so I am guessing a little bit)! I am very pleased, and can't wait to break into the 160's. My tongue is almost completely clear, and I have been having increased mental clarity. My energy level has not been phenomenal, but I hope when I am back on solids, and weighing so much less, my energy will be through the roof. Thanks for the support all, you guys rock!

Well, I made it! 14 days. This is my first time going this far. I must say that the last 3-4 days have been pretty difficult. I guess it's just more detoxing, but I felt pretty blah- cold, tired, grumpy and really not enjoying the LAs. In fact, I felt that way most of the cleanse except for 3-4 days of higher energy, and more of my usual optimism and enthusiasm. I enjoy and envy the testimonies of those who have increased energy doing this! Bless you. Still, I'm thrilled to have made it 14 days- the longest I've ever gone. Today I'm enjoying my first glass of freshly squeezed pink grapefruit, and boy is it delicious!!! Heavenly!

I hope to do another cleanse definitely next Jan., and possibly even one this summer. Not sure about that yet, but will keep the thought. Best wishes to all of you who are still cleansing- your bodies are going to thank you immensely! Keep on keeping on! "See" you on my next cleanse...

Blessings,

In the first announcement on the MC Board, How to post for Newbies (http://therawfoodsite.com/forum/announcement.php?f=9&a=6) Peter states:

...your first few postings have to be approved before they can be seen. When you are promoted to "BB Contributor," you can post without approval.

You need 5 approved posts to be promoted to Junior Member. You're almost there. :)

I'm at the end of my first day.
Have a few questions.
What's the best action to recover from eating?
Are the measurements with the lemonade important? (I may have double the lemon juice -- got some really big lemons-- and more water than recommended).
I also use more water for the tea. However, I keep the swf exact.

The best thing you can do for the cleanse is to get a copy of the book and read it. It's your road map for this journey you're about to take. It would answer many of your questions. You should also consider getting a copy of Peter's book. I highly recommend you get one or the other; both would be best.

I've found that the best way to deal with not eating is to use this board to ask questions and share my experiences. It really helps. With the help of this board I'm on day 26. I couldn't of made it this far without the support of the people on here! :)

On page 20 of The Master Cleanser Burroughs states that it's OK to increase or decrease the maple syrup depending on your weight gain/lost goals, but "Never vary the amount of lemon juice per glass."

The lemons I get are small. I find after I strain the pulp from the juice that I consistently get about 3 tablespoons of juice per lemon. So I use a pint mason jar and make a lemonade and a half at a time. I work out of my home, so I'm able to make a glass at a time. I don't measure every lemon for every glass. I know that 1 lemon is usually going to be 3 tbsp or just slightly off. A little bit over is probably not going to hurt you. Burroughs says that 2 tbsp. of lemon juice is approximately 1/2 a lemon. If you find 1/2 a lemon is close to 2 tablespoons, you should be fine using half a lemon. Measure and find out what you're getting per lemon.

The correct measurements are:
10 oz. drink = 8 oz. water + 2 tbsp lemon juice (1 oz) +2 tbsp MS (1 oz) + 1/10 tsp cayenne

I don't believe adding more water to tea should be a problem. I've seen it recommended on this board as one way of helping to avoid cramps. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me. :D

Hope this helps... Ed

Whoo hoo!! I FINALLY found someone who sells the Celtic Sea Salt! Whole Foods. I thought I had looked there before, but I guess not. Just happened to call them up and ask if they have it and they do!! Yay!! I'm really excited now. I'm hoping that it makes the SWF that much easier like people say. I really enjoy the benefits of it, but it is just AWFUL to get down. See my first SWF youtube vid and you'll see. LOL!!

Getting more and more excited about starting! Just three days! Tee hee!

I'm certain I'll be going with a 10 day cleanse. I only made it to 8 days last time, but I'm certain I can go all the way this time. I haven't really thought about going any further than that though. We'll see, but at this point, it's just 10 days. It'll still be great!

Hello my lemony friends,

It's so nice to have so many others on here supporting eachother and providing inspiration and encouragement. It's only Day 3 for me. I had a few false starts culminating in a five day failure. So, I took a few days to really get my head in the right place with prayer and really asking myself why I wanted to do this. I feel really strong and capable about commiting myself this time around. I don't know how long I will go. I would like to do a long term 40 Day.
Day one was easy. Day two, yesterday, I actually went on my big monthy grocery shopping and was totally fine. Got regular food for my family and stocked up on my lemons and syrup. The hardest thing for me is cooking the evening meal. I have to make sure I have a big lemonade right there to sip on. AND, I am making sure to cook only things I have cooked before so that I don't feel the need to "taste" a new recipe.

Thanks to all the lemonheads who were not judgemental about my many false starts and encouraged me to keep trying. Keep squeezing!!

This is MC4 day 6 for me. I feel really really good. I hit the gym today. I hadn't worked out since I started, and it felt really good. I took it easy, but felt strong.

BTW- I do not do the swf. I do the tea morning and night. And for those of you who have to do this too and are worried it's not as good, don't. I have been getting stellar results. I have to say I love the feeling of getting some detox symptom - and then going to the bathroom and the symptom is gone.

And just to encourage you folks out there... I had lung issues most of my life until the mc. During my first mc (almost 2.5 years ago), there was one night that I didn't know if I would survive. Truly. I could not breathe. It was all the asthma and bronchial infections I had had coming back. I did EFT to help me breathe and get me through. The next morning, voila. No more lung issues. And none since.

I haven't had anything as dramatic as that since then, but I can tell I'm detoxing and it feels great.

Today was day 8 for me. I've lost a pound a day since day 5 and lost an inch and a half in my waist! So glad to start seeing some results because the 1st 4 days, I hardly saw any. I'm very lucky because my fiance is doing the cleanse with me. You guys that that kids and family that you have to cook for, more power to you! I applaud you so hang in there. Thanks to everyone sharing their experiences on the MC. It really helps us to keep going. When I read that the cayanne Pepper is a stimulant and an accellerator for the cleanse, I've been adding it to my water as well as the LJ. Congrats to everyone on hanging in another day! :D

Hey all!! So, after having dinner (I won't say what, don't want to tempt anyone), I decided that it was time to start tonight! I don't want to wait until Sunday. I am so clogged and blech!! I am READY to do this again! The tea is brewing (or whatever) as we speak! I got the Celtic Sea Salt, so I'm actually excited about the salt water flush tomorrow! I'm anxious to see what a difference the Celtic Sea Salt makes. I've uploaded my intro to youtube and I'm ready to go!! Happy cleansing all! I can't wait to share my progress!

Hello,

I'm brand new :)

I am waiting for my special syrup to come in the mail, but I've been preparing myself all week, by eating mostly raw fruits and veg and cutting out caffeine. I've been drinking the laxative tea at night also.

I have a question about the length of time you can do the fast.

I am currently obese. I was wondering why it is recommended that you do the fast for up to 40 days. Are there certain cases (like obesity) where a person can fast longer? Has anyone tried this?

Thanks,

B

Aloha everyone,
I started my 2nd MC today and am really excited to be doing it again. My only reservation is that I am training for the LA marathon and some of the runs are 10-12 miles. I plan to take it as easy as possible and bow out halfway through the long runs if I need to, but hopefully I won't need to.
So far so good, although I ate enough refined sugar over the past month to be a little worried about the detox. Normally my juice cleanses are not too bad though:).
I'd love to hear how the rest of you are doing, and I wish you all the best of luck!

Sorry - I made a mistake... all the water I have been using is Spring water... the bottle of distilled water is actually what my mom uses for her steamer... :p

Today is my 3rd day - i have lost 1.6kg so far (i.e. averaging 0.8kg per day).:D

The laxative tea last night gave me cramps the whole night. I had to use a warm water bag to sooth my stomach. I visited the WC 3 times last night (1am; 4am; 7:30am), with severe stomachaches. I almost wanted to give up... :(

This morning, drinking the luke warm SWF definitely felt easier... I managed to finish all, and had the butt pee within 15mins... my lips are still dry though... I tried dinking more water, but it is still very dry...

I was home alone last night, and found it easier to fight the temptations... I kept myself busy with the computer, TV and listening to music, and by the time I go to bed, no one reminded me about food... then this morning, when I saw my parents having their breakfasts, people drinking coffee, eating donuts on the street, I felt myself wanting to eat cuz i like the food... So I think it is best to stay home, alone throughout the full 10-day cleanse... ;)

I am really stupid... I bought SPRING WATER at home... and apparently there are 2 types of water in the office... one is distilled and the other is spring... and I have been stupid enough to drink the distilled water... :(:(:( did I do harm to my MC? I actually mixed my lemonade with spring water... but have been drinking 64oz of distilled water throughout the day for the past 3 days... aaaaaaaaaaa... what have I done... I feel really bad... (not physically sick, but my stupidity is driving me crazy...)

OMG - I have really bad stomachaches at night when I sleep - is the distilled water the cause of the pain?:confused::confused: I am still very mad at myself for making such a stupid mistake :mad::mad:

Originally I though I have been having a good 3-day start... this distilled water news really got onto my nerves... Today is friday the 13th...:eek::eek: how much more unlucky can I get? aaaaaaaaa should i quit this MC and start all over again??? I am very worried!!!

FatXO,
Don't worry about it so much. We all make mistakes, then we correct them and move forward. Stick to the cleanse and just do the best you can do for ourself. I'm on Day 9. I want to go to Day 20 at least because I feel like the cleanes is just now starting to work on me. I do miss my meals though. But I'm hanging in there with all of you! Happy Friday 13th!

Fat XO: The senna tea is the cause of your cramps not the distilled water. How long are you steeping the tea? Try steeping it for only a minute and a half to 2 minutes. This should eliminate the cramps at night and it will still give you the results that you want.

Hello all!

Today is Day 1 for me...so far so good! I've done the cleanse before for 10days and had great results. I thought I would give a try again but this time stay involved through the message board. I've been a lurker for some time but this time I figured with support it should go a bit easier :p The support you give each other is great, it really keeps everyone keep motivated. TTYL :)

I completed my 40 days yesterday and I feel wonderful! I lost 30 lbs! My boyfriend decided to do the last 11 days with me and he lost 5 lbs! We both also lost several inches all over. This was the first cleanse for my boyfriend and he found it very easy. He had no headaches or any other negative symptoms. It was fairly easy for me to do 40 days. I just took it 10 days at a time and made it through. However, I did have several headaches which I thought was odd since I stopped taking any form of caffeine after my first cleanse in June 2008.
I have 3 questions:
1) I would like to start my next cleanse in April. Is that too soon?
2) My Mom would like to do the cleanse, but she is diabetic. Are there modifications that she needs to make or can she follow the plan as written?
3) I have a friend who would like to do the cleanse, but she has kidney issues and is concerned about the SWF. Does she need to be concerned?

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the bulletin board. Your comments keep me going when it seemed like 40 days would never end. I wish everyone good luck!

Day 19, feeling good. People are noticing the positive effects, which is quite motivating.

I am planning to break on Monday (Day 22) and am kind of mixed emotioned. I want to keep going, but circimstances and social occasions are kind of forcing the break.

I will transition to mostly raw which I am super excited about. I just know that it's easier for me on the cleanse -- I've not yet mastered the off- part. I plan to devote heroic effort to that.

Will keep you posted.

To everyone in the midst -- take it one day at a time. The difference a few days makes in how you feel is completely astounding!

I am on day 9 and I Feel great! I started the cleanse me and my mom and she is now on day 10 today.
One thing that I did that really helped for me I really planned this event to the point that a week before the cleanse I started to eat less food (one meal a day I was on a mission to do this) and i drank water and natural juices and eliminated all of the junk food out of my eating habits. I also took a different approach this time to where instead of it being at least a ten day cleanse I took it day by day and called it ten one day cleanses with that approach I didn't look to far into the future.
We already are saying that if we go pass ten days it is not a problem and we are looking forward to incorporating this diet into our lives on a quarterly basis. Our next cleanse will be in June/July and we have already recruited some family members to join us.
I am looking forward to eating healthier and taking care of myself health wise.

This cleanse helps you out physically and mentally it is GREAT!:D

Today is Day 8 for me. I've only done the cleanse two other times and the first time, I made it 6 days before cracking and the second time shouldn't even count because I lasted 1 day. SOOO... needless to say, this is a huge accomplishment for me. I am trying for 20 days. I can't wait to get to Day 10 so I can say that I am at least halfway.

I do have an issue though... yesterday my breath tasted SOOO HORRIBLE! I couldn't stand it. Its starting to taste bad again this morning. Why is it tasting bad now? Shouldn't it have tasted bad since like Day 2 or something? OMG!

Also, days 1/2/3 were all bad detox days, but haven't had anything happen since. Been doing everything, lax tea at night, SWF in AM, 7-8 glasses of LA all day and I really feel good. Nothing aches, nothing hurts, no flu-like symptoms, no lethary, etc. Should I be wary of the days to come?

Here's to another LEMON-day!

:) I am on day 8 for this time around. This is my 4th time to do this. This time around I am shooting for at least 10 days but maybe up to 13 days. My husband started this 3 days after me so I might continue on so we can be on track together when we get off of this cleanse. The last time I did this was in September and I did not get off of it in the right way and I felt really sick as a result. This time I really want to try and ease off of it exactly the way Stanley Burroughs suggests.

I have finally calmed myself down by sleeping alot yesterday after work... I mean my results are good even though I made the water mistake. I am almost half way there, I should not feel discouraged. I mean - losing 2.2kg (4.8lbs) in just 3 days is a good enough reason to stick till the end of my 10th day, right?!

My 4th night of laxative tea made me less cramps. I woke up twice only last night (2am and 4am). The warm water bag definitely helped soothing my pain. I have received comments on my weight loss already, and it felt really encouraging!!! :D:D:D

This morning's SWF is much easier to get through with the "lemon licks". One thing I noticed though - I cannot wear jeans when I am doing the SWF, cuz it tightens my stomach and made the SWF hard to get down, so I am wearing drawstring pants when I do the SWF. My day with lemonade + SPRING water is fine so far. I only think about food when I smell it, so I have decided to stay in my bed, or in front of the computer whenever my family have their meals... :p

MC4 Day 7.
so far so good. felt all premenstrual this morning: low back pain and that kind of thing. But it went away quickly. other than carrying a space heater with me from room to room (brrrrr - and I live in Los Angeles!), I feel great. I haven't scraped my tongue for about 4 hours, and it's still pretty clear. Hmmm. That's exciting. I'm kind of hoping to get at least one more episode of gunk-dump before I stop.

I'm only going for 10. I've made a commitment to do one 10-day per year. I usually start with Dr. Schultz' liver cleanse stuff and do a post-mc Dr. Schultz' kidney cleanse.

It's weird how tastes can change. When I started with my first mc, I preferred limes. I made it with limes today, and - yeah - not so much.

Fatxo -no worries on the water thing. Some people contend that distilled water is better. They contend that the emptiness of the water grabs/dissolves more toxins out of you. It's been a debate for years. I do tend to agree with spring water myself. But please don't worry about it.

Bsheree - headaches are a general detox symptom. caffeine is just one of the causes. and...
1. I forget the exact amount of time, but I know it's on the site somewhere, spelled out by Peter. It's really important not to start again too soon, though. So please check. We need to remineralize our bodies. I personally would recommend you not do it any sooner than 3 months.
2. The mc is perfectly acceptable for diabetics. There are mods she can do. Like substituting blackstrap molasses and/or raw agave syrup. The molasses has a very STRONG flavor and the agave is really, really mild.
3. Again, I apologize I don't have the specifics in front of me, but I know there is a discussion on how the salt in the swf affects the body. It may not be an issue at all. And there is always doing the lax tea morning and night. I do that. And I get plenty of results. and as a side note, perhaps she could look into taking Dr. Schultz' kidney formula before the cleanse. That way, she'll have a jump start on cleaning her kidneys. If she has issues, they definitely need some extra attention. but if she does use Dr. Schultz, she should make sure to get it from www.herbdoc.com. I've seen some sites try to sell pretend Dr. Schultz formulas.

Day 2

So far things are alright today. The SWF was a little challenging though, and normally it does not bother me at all. I felt like there was a rock in the top of my stomach and I was trying to swallow AROUND it. I also did not expel it as I always have in past MC's. I feel headache-y as well and hope to pass these toxins tomorrow.
I have had 5 LA's so far today and yesterday I had 6, so I am right on track.
Hope you are all doing well!

I finished the cleanse to my amazement. I lost 16 pounds and the truth is al I could think about during the cleanse was eating AFTER the cleanse. On Day 11 I drank the OJ but around 3pm I sucumbed to a plain baked pretzel no butter. I was fine. Later I went home and had some soup/salad and two slices of bread, again I was fine. Day 12 OJ morning. Tofu Salad afternoon and then around 6pm I gave in to a Turkey Burger/Fries and Green Tea (and maybe some guacomole)

YOU KNOW IT!!!!

It went through me like a roller coaster. I feel fine again, no cramps, but I'M NOT GOOD SPRITUALLY. My problem is this. I thought I was doing this for weight loss. I realized tonight I wasn't. Over the last few weeks I've become painfully aware how much of my life evolves around food, but tonight I realize I need a life evolving around something else...food is important in life, we're lucky to have it so much of it available, but tonight for example I feel like I've been consummed by the Burger. The weight I've droppd I will put on in no time, I want to change, but how can a raw food diet be tasty and appealing and why do I still crave bread and CRAP after completing the 10 days.

I want to go back on M/C again, like tomorrow. Is that crazy? Two days after the end of my last cleanse? I feel my body needs it, maybe 10 days wasn't long enough.

Does anyone ave ANY advice?

Good morning all! It's day 2 and too soon to tell how I'm feeling. Yesterday was AWFUL! I can't believe I was already detoxing on the first day. I was absolutely exhausted all day and it was certainly noticable to people. I went to bed fairly early. Got all 6 glasses in for the day. I've actually had to space them out because I'm used to making 12 glasses worth in a gallon of water and drinking that all day. Now, I'm trying to keep it at a minimum of 6, although, I'm not sure if that would benefit me or harm me in the long run. I suppose we'll find out. I have class at the zoo today, so I'm hoping I can find a bit of energy. Lost 2 lbs. Down to 147.5. My scale only does .0 and .5 so I don't know exact weight, but that's ok.

Happy cleansing everyone! I hope you all have a great day!

I am pretty frustrated, at this point, with trying to get some questions answered. It seems like I'm writing to no one. I have asked, repeatedly, for help in using this forum. I don't know how to find replies to my posts. I'm pretty sure that would mean someone has to send me a direct message, because -- I can't find replies to my posts!
I guess this is an opportunity to learn ultra patience. Or, maybe, this isn't the system for me.
It does seem very ironic, at best.

Hi all

Technically Im day 0. I'm in preparation for tomorrow. I went shopping today and got all the bits and bobs. I'm a bit confused as to whether I have everyting right!!!!! I'm in England here, so Im finding the labelling a bit of a challenge. I have senna tea, but senna is not the only ingredient. It is the first one though. I have salt in its purest unrefined form, but nowhere on the packaging does it say non iodized, or not a source of iodine. And finally..... my maple syrup is dark and organic and a product of north america, but nowhere is it graded.

I need your support guys..... you think it'll all be okay????

Im starting with senna tea tonight. Wooooooo Hooooooo!

DAY 9 - WOO HOO!!! ;)

I can finally say tomorrow that I am halfway through this cleanse. WOW! I am so freaking proud of myself. I am actually going to do it all the way this time. YAY!

My tongue isn't as coated. Don't get me wrong. Its still pretty coated, but at least its not as bad as it was on Day 2.

I have some horrendous breath right now. OMG! I hate it. I would drink the peppermint tea, but I hate the peppermint tea worse than my breath. And that's saying a lot! LOL

I did soak in a detox bath this morning and wow... I could just go melt under the covers in my bed and go to sleep.

Otherwise, along with cravings, those are the only detox symptoms I have right now. Im not sure if I should be happy or sad. LOL

Have a great Valentine's Day everyone! I got a buttload of Gold Canyon Candles for V-day since my other half didn't know what to do for me since we can't go to dinner and I won't eat the chocolates. LOL So I think the candles are a good compromise!

Here's to another LEMON-day! - And tomorrow I can say that I am finally HALFWAY! :D:D:D

Day 1 - Smooth Move tea before bed last night. SWF upon rising. 4 lemonades so far. Best thing done so far: reread Peter's book. I didn't realize I had a revised printing so I seemed to be reading it for the first time. I'm not being paid to say 'read the book first'. It's a suggestion I saw on the site and I did just so. I'm glad I did.

I'm in a household where I have the opportunity to choose my health goals privately, personally and thereby get to plug into an appropriate 'support group'. The bulletin board on this site helped me immensely the first time I did this cleanse that I'm delighted to be re-engaged!

Reading the book enabled me to recall thoughts to mind when later in Day 1, as I was fixing dinner, when a craving hit. I mentally walked myself through the situation and the reminders and made the decision to re-start the cleanse tomorrow. NOT! just kidding! I didn't enable the craving to tell me what to do next. I conquered that craving! yea!

It's no small victory to successfully stick to the cleanse for the predetermined length of time. This journey is to continue until Saturday, March 14. Completing this cleanse is empowering on many levels and I look forward to basking in the light of my journey.

So c'mon! Stick to the cleanse! Reward yourself with another glass of lemonade! Take a nap! Take a bath! The cooked food will be there, should you decide to return to it, after the cleanse!

Day 3

Today was much better than yesterday. Headache is almost totally gone. I was able to teach dance classes with no energy issues and I made it through a movie tonight without going crazy from the smell of popcorn!!!

I am really trying to take this one day at a time because when I think about how it will be 9 more days before I can eat anything I start to feel panic but when I just think about getting through the day I feel great. No real cravings yet, and I hope it stays that way...

Orlypops-Good luck tomorrow! Starting is so exciting:)

Lemonyfresh-Wow! How does it feel to be so closes to the end of it? Did any detox symptoms come up later in your cleanse that you didn't get in the first 10 days? I have never gone longer than 10, so I am curious...

Tsch-If there is anything I can do to support you, please let me know. You can email me or just write on this board since I read it every day.

eSlider-4 weeks! How long do you plan to go for, and how do you feel? Is your energy good?

KityTatu-I am glad you feel better! I am only a day ahead of you so we are on the same track. I'd love to hear about our progress as we go. How long are you going for?

My major goal with this cleanse is to break it properly since in the past I have not done it by the book and am usually eating small amounts of raw food within 12 hours of waking up on day 11.
Happy cleaning everyone!

Thanks, Bela! Feeling much better. It's now day 3. Day 2 wasn't so bad. I had my docent class at the zoo to keep me occupied and energy didn't seem to be much of an issue, especially since I was sitting down all day long. I was concerned about that, but it was all good.

Unfortunately, I only made it to 5 glasses yesterday and didn't do the tea last night. I fell asleep at about 5 or 6 something and didn't get up for the rest of the night. I think I woke up at about 1 and figured I should get up and have the tea, but then I said 'naaahhhh' and passed out again. I'm not happy about that, but it's been done. Just picking back up with the SWF today.

I have to say though, the first two nights of the tea, I had no eliminations or even cramping all night long. I thought that was rather odd because it's never happened like that before. I'm happy and not at the same time. Any elimanations to me are GREAT! The more I can get out, the better. But, I'm happy that I haven't suffered through the horrible cramping and rumbling either. I let the tea bag seat for about 15 minutes, so I know I'm getting enough in there. We'll see if it's different tonight.

Someone had made cupcakes and brought them to class yesterday. While they did look good, I knew I didn't need no stinking cupcakes!!! Lol. I hope everyone else was able to resist as well.

To be continued.....

Oh, sorry Bela. I forgot. I plan on doing a 10 day run. I'm going to see what my progress is by the 10th day and if I feel I still need more cleansing, I'll probably doing another 3 or 4. Haven't decided yet. I haven't made it through a full 10 days yet though, so I'm definitely going for that goal this time. I know we can make it together!! :D

Hello Fellow MC,
Day 11 here. I still think about the food I want to eat but have been reading about the raw food diets. My diet before had been a 95% meat, egg & cheese, so raw veg diet is a lot different to get used to. Plus I loved my vegetables cooled in butter. I read that you could eat as much as you want to feel satisfied on a raw vegetable diet and still lose weight. So we'll see how it goes after this cleanse. Well, on day 11, I feel good but I still ache in my back and neck and itching with eczema. I think if it goes away, that will mean I'm detoxing a lot. Good luck to all of you! Hang in there another day! Congrats to all of you!:)

Hello everyone,

I am about to end my 14 th day of Cleanse : I just had a few questions;

i haven't lost a lot of weight only 7 pounds i weigh now 137 Pounds , maybe the reason is that i have a hypothyroid problem , i took my thyroid medicine trhoughout the cleanse.
did everything correctly , SWF, the Senna leaf tea in the evening ,drinking enough juice and water.
but somehow my BM where allways liquid till now , what does that mean ? Is it supposed to be solid material? , how do I know if the detox is really finished ?

the two weeks went by fairly easy , beside the occasional hunger pang , no headaches ,no breakouts ,or anything special to report.

I would really appreciate if someone could have some kind of explanation

Thanks:)

DAY 10 AND GOING STRONG! WOO HOO!!! :D

I can't believe I have made it this far. HALFWAY BABY! WOW.. that is so awesome to say. And I think I've reached "ZEN". I feel good... damn good! Not hungry, no cravings, full of energy. I do still have some detox symptoms though.. woke up with a plugged up nose and I saw a rash on my face after I got out of the shower. Still have a brownish-whitish tongue. So I know Im not done detoxing, but wow… I didn’t think I could feel this good. Its amazing how different I feel now when I used to feel what I thought was “normal”. This is going to sound weird, but I feel like my head isn’t so fogged up, my eyes aren’t swollen, no headache… man. I didn’t realize that I was feeling so badly until I started feeling “right” again. Does that make sense?

Ok, Im just rambling. I need to get back to typing. ;)

Hi, I am new to the board, but have been receiving the newsletters for quite some time. I wanted to do the cleanse in January, but have been drinking heavily for most of the last 40 years, so wanted to quit drinking for at least two weeks before I started.

Today is my tenth day. I have been following directions except for the tea. I was having good results from the lemonade and the SWF, so did not feel it necessary and was hesitant to use it. I did not try it until the sixth day. I took it at bedtime, and five hours later, in the middle of the night, I had severe cramps and could not go back to bed for over two hours. The next night I tried it again, with the same results, so quit using it again because I needed the sleep more.

I have been feeling great most of the time after the first three days. I have only lost six pounds, so I intend to continue for the full twenty days. I hope to lose more weight, but even if I do not, I feel better than I have in years, and I look better too. I am grateful for the cleanse.

DAY 28!!! Yeah! Going to do the O.J. tomorrow, and I am so glad to make it a week past my starting goal.
BELA: I had more of the same detox symptoms that I had been having, and more food dreams after day 15, but nothing really changed. Tongue got clearer and clearer past day 24 or so. BM became less productive around day 18-19, but they never stopped being "somewhat" productive.

Thanks everybody for the encouragment and mutual support!

Days 5 & 6

Day 5 weighed 0.6kg less than Day 4. :D:D
Tried dipping the laxative tea for a minute. Definitely gave me less cramps. I woke up only once at around 5:30am for a WC trip. Throughout the day, the lemonade tasted very good. Got hungry when my family was dining... but the weight loss gave me power to stay strong, and I didn't cheat!!! My elimination of the day was full of "bubbles", with no solid ones today.:confused:

Day 6 weighed the same as Day 5
Laxative tea last night gave me gas problem. I was passing out gas the whole night, plus I burbed alot. Didn't have bowel movement at all last night. I woke up at around 8am this morning to do the SWF, and elimination was definitely less than the past 4 days. Actually I am gradually getting less elimination. Is that normal?:confused::confused:

I can't wait till the week is over, then my 10-day MC will be over!!! :D

Hi Lemonyfresh,

Congrats on day 28!!!!!!!!!! That is a great accomplishment and you should be very proud of yourself.

I have a recommendation for you and to the others that go on extended cleanses, I hope you are planning on taking probiotics after you come off the Cleanse. Peter recommends them and also sell a good quality of them.

Please give yourself a pat on the back for your outstanding effort!!

Day 4

Thanks for the info, lemonyfresh! Always curious...

Today was fine; I miss food a little but nothing major. This time around I have been straining the lemon pulp out before making the LA and I think that has been a big help. I think something to do with the digestive juices that get going to break the pulp down made me hungrier on my last MC. So much better this time.

And yes, FatXO, it is normal to have less waste to eliminate as we go longer without eating. You should also know that a BM can also show up a lot later on in the detox when the gunk stuck on the walls of your intestine release and exit your body so don't worry if that happens; it's actually a good thing.

Enjoy your cleanse, everyone!

kalyani: You pretty much answered your own question about weight loss. Even though you only lost 7 lbs how do your clothes fit? You also lose inches and have to take that into consideration.

Your thyroid definitely CAN prevent weight loss or at least make it more difficult to lose. Hence is the way of thyroid issues. Are you taking anything for your thyroid? Also did you stick to the cleanse to the T? I've had people complain about not losing much weight only to find out they've been "eating" along the way. :o

You did great by making it 14 days! Your next cleanse could be completely different - I've found that each cleanse changes a lot. :)

I am still in the planing stages. IE; I am still reading the book. I understand it, but I am trying to pin a time where I would not have too many temptations. I am not sure there ever is a time. One day last week I did the SWF just to see if I could handle drinking the salt water. It was tough! It took me 1/2 hour to get it down, and then withn 10 minites I was already taking care of business. Peter states in the book that it gets easier, is that easier with each time you do a complete cleanse, or every day gets better? Today I am going to go get the laxative tea and some lemons. I sure hope I can do this, my husband thinks I am crazy. So no help there, I'm on my own.

TschP:

In the first announcement on the MC Board, How to post for Newbies (http://therawfoodsite.com/forum/announcement.php?f=9&a=6) Peter states:

You need 5 approved posts to be promoted to Junior Member. You're almost there. :)

Ed

It does; thank you. I do have the master cleanse book and have read it all. I haven't been able to stop eating completely; so I ate raw vegs and fruit, some nuts, and a little bit of regular food here and there. I do feel better and lost 5 pounds since my first post. Now I am trying to do the cleanse as it should be done -- without food. I'm an older manual laborer and find that after working a long, hard job I feel as though I really need to eat. Anyway, thanks again.
Should I start a new post to ask further questions?

It's Day 3. I've had many cravings Day 1 & 2 and a good elimination Day 3 morning after SWF.

WOW! Am I EMOTIONAL!!! I've cried so much today! Between yesterday's cravings and today's tears, I'm worn out. I continue to reread Peter's book ....I just want as much positive reinforcement as possible. I'm not concerned with weight loss or health at this moment. I just want to get as many toxins out of me as quickly as possible. I'm glad today was a paid holiday from work. Tomorrow i'll be ok because I'll be back at work and have tons of distractions!

The last cleansing program I did resulted in a TREMENDOUS emotional outpouring. I've learned that cleansing will bring out emotional outbursts so it's best for me to have private time when letting these tears out. I don't want to 'take it out' on anyone. Afterall, it's my emotions, perceptions and experiences, not anyone elses. No one else can process elminating these toxins for me. I must do it myself. So, do it!

(sigh) My inner core belief is to successfully complete this MC. So regardless of whatever has come up so far, especially the desire to put junk food in my mouth when stress levels increase, I continue to react this way: 1) drink another lemondade 2) drink more water 3) consciously relax.

I went grocery shopping last night and stress was running high: stormy weather, super cold, unbearable rain showers, crowds, hungry husband waiting at home....all I purchased was what was on my list! In the past, I would have calmed myself with a medium unsweetened iced coffee and any candy with peanut butter or mini donuts or cherry turnovers followed by a high carb/fat meal at home. oh yes, topped off with a serving of guilt.

No mas! No mas! No mas! One day at a time. Time for another lemonade!...maybe a nap, too.:)

Im amazed at how energetic I feel. Still have some detox symptoms.. wake up with stuffed up nose, gunky eyes and my tongue is definitely coated yellowish-brown. BUT the energy is what amazes me. To look at me, you can't tell that I've been without food for 11 days now. WOW!

I feel so much better now that Im over the "halfway" point. That was hard. Especially since my sister was only doing 10 days so her "halfway" point was 5 days.

9 more days to GO! YAY!!

Day 12 and feeling fine, not in zen or anything but have plenty of energy. I've lost an inch off my waist and belly and about a half inch off my hips and thighs. It doesn't seem like much considering no food for 12 days but while I had the measuring tape around me, I put it where it used to be 12 days ago and that really showed me it is a big difference. I plan to go to day 20. I still itch with eczema that I hope will go away with the detox. My tongue has been mostly pink this whole time but today it is whiter than it's ever has been. Maybe that means something's happening. I also noticed my facial skin looks tighter and less lines. I want to stay on a mostly raw food diet after the cleanse and looking forward to trying out some receipes I've been reading about. Congrats to everyone on making it another day! Thx Bela for the info.

I am on Day 7 now, weighing the same as days 5 & 6. A little disappointed after losing 5 big lbs in the first 5 days.

Laxative tea last night gave me a BM at around midnight, and then I had a cramp-free and gas-free night :D:D:D. I slept 8 hours straight, which felt really good! 8)

SWF this morning gave me one "less yellowish" flush, this time full of bubbles again. I am still waiting for more elimination for the day, but it seems that this morning flush is all I will get. My intestines must be very clean by now, cuz my tongue is feeling "thinner" and the white coat is definitely clearing out. One more thing, I used to have rash on my back that I have to scratch every night, but after 6 days of MC, my back is starting to clear up and the scratched wounds seem to be recovering!!! ;)

Fat XO

Fat XO: The senna tea is the cause of your cramps not the distilled water. How long are you steeping the tea? Try steeping it for only a minute and a half to 2 minutes. This should eliminate the cramps at night and it will still give you the results that you want.

Happy Cleansing... Ed

Thank you very much for your advise, eSlicer! I no longer have cramps at night when I sleep. I slept like a baby last night! :D:D:D

Day 5

Almost finished the halfway point and I am totally doing great (with the exception of my broken hand making it incredibly slow for me to type while in a cast!!!)

I feel like this time (so far) is way easier than the first MC I did. I would like to go longer but since I am mid-marathon training right now I don't think I should go for longer than 10 days; next time maybe I'll try 14-20. I am hoping that my skin will continue to glow (it has already started:)) and that I will lose a few more pounds. So far I have lost 5 lbs, which is great. I normally do raw food so I hope to continue the wight loss after I finish my MC since I want to lose 15 altogether. Fingers crossed! It will make running so much easier if I am lighter, which would be great. I am also doing this in the hopes that some of my body aches (from teaching dance) will go away but I think I may need to go longer for that.

Luv2scrap-Welcome!It is amazing what you can do, one day at a time, when you make up your mind to do it. Good luck!

Day 5.

Today, for the first time, I did NOT have a wonderful whooshing BM after drinking the salt water. I eventually evacuated a little, but no where near the excellent volumes of the first 4 days. I became worried that I had absorbed the salt water. Today was, incidentaly, the first day that I felt pretty ''spacey'' and unfocused, and noticeably colder than normal. I thought of increasing the salt a little tomorrow morning. What think?

BTW, I normally eat a very clean organic diet with occassional meat or fish and almost no dairy, and wine or beer w/ dinner. I am 58, very active and considered to be in very good health. Excellent BMs, too. :)

Thanks!

Today is day 7 for me, and I will be breaking the MC this saturday. I have a few question with regard to breaking the MC:

1) Do I still have to drink the night time laxative tea on Day 10?:confused:
2) I am rice & bread eater. When can I start eating rice and bread? Do I have to wait until the 4th day?:confused:
3) I also love drinking champagne, when can I start drinking as well? Can I start right away, or should I wait until the 4th day again? or should I wait even longer?
4) I have 2 dinner parties on Days 11 and 12 (i.e. the 2 days after the MC), should I bring my own OJ and not touch anything offered in the parties? Or can I at least drink the soup they offer?:confused:
5) I know that I should be taking probiotics on Day 11. Will the probiotics help me going back to a solid food diet?

Thank you for everyone's support!!! This MC board is the main reason why I am still on the MC!!!:rolleyes:

Hi everyone, today is my first day and i am pretty nervous. I hope i can complete the program, I am committed to taking it one day at a time. can anyone tell me what other laxative i can use if i cannot find senna tea, or does it matter? can i chew gum while I am on this fast. By the way I didn't pass out mush to day is that normal. also I hate the taste of the salt flush, so what i do is i mix the salt with 3tablespoons of living bitters, swallow that and then top it up with 1 quart of water is that ok. is there an alternative to the salt flush that will do the same thing. By the way what is a BM. When can I expect to pass out colon plague.
look forward to completing this fast .

hey everyone,

today is day 1 for me I'm just getting to the end of the SWF.
I have not done a MC cleanse for a about a year now - my longest one lasted 40 days with fantastic results. Since then, over the past year I've been though a lot of negative stuff and have been binge eating - just eating total crap although i've always remained veggie ! so I'm absoulutely determined to lose all that weight I've gained by doing another MC. I have no idea how long I'll be doing this for but basically I have 30 pounds to lose - so I'm staying on the MC until i've shed every single pound of that off !!! i'm hoping it's not going to go beyond 40 days but if it does then i'm willing to stay on this until how ever long it takes.

Peter 8)
I started my first-ever MC today, February 17, 2009. I drank the Smooth Move Senna Tea last night and woke up in the middle of the night with a sore throat. I know the cleanse can't be working that fast so I almost delayed starting but I decided to go forward anyhow. I bought the grey Celtic Sea Salt and had no trouble with the SWF, except I felt I might drown before I got the whole quart down. At least I didn't gag, or worse. So far, so good. I am using fresh lemons and Grade B Maple Syrup and, surprising myself by being able to use 1/8 tsp of cayenne. I have never been one for "hot and spicy" foods or drinks. The lemonade is pretty good. It burns my throat just a little. Please comment on the sore throat.

DAY 12 HERE! WOO HOO!!! :D

Still having detox symptoms, but they seem to be lessening. Not as stuffy this morning and my tongue is less brown. To be honest, that freaked me out. I couldn't believe that my tongue turned BROWN!

I am torturing myself though. I keep looking at my raw recipe books and drooling. LOL I am planning on breaking the fast like I should and then making a raw pie and eating the whole damn thing. LMAO Ok, so I won't eat the whole thing because Im sure that my stomach is the size of a pea right now, but dang... that pie looks SOOO GOOD! LOL

I do need to start thinking about my staples that I will need for a 100% raw lifestyle. I am SO excited to start eating raw. :D

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Hi Bela,

I was forced to stop on the 3rd day unfortunately. Let's just say I have a problem that is a real pain in the butt that seems to get worse on the cleanse. :o Unfortunately, I can't do it until I get that under control. I think I'm going to do the RAW challenge and see if that helps and then do a cleanse after. I know, strange, RAW then cleanse. Lol. I'm sure I'll still need it after the 30 days.

Thanks for checking in though Bela. I appreciate it! The good news though is that I'll now be able to do it with my friend when he's able to start it up again! I've never had someone to do it with in person, so it should be interesting.

I hope everyone else is enjoying the lemony goodness!! I'm jealous that I can't be doing it with you guys!!! Again soon though!

Well its day 8 for me and i'm feeling great I was a bit worried about doing some intensive cardio but I hit the gym a couple of days ago and all went well, I even found myself a bit more centered and less out of breath after the session =)
I actually have a couple of questions or concerns The day usually flies for me and I've been missing some SWF at night and just been doing it regularly in the morning, also I havent always gulped down those 6 glasses a day, but rather been like 3-5, does this make a difference and so how?

Night: 6 glasses is the minimum. You have to stick to it. Only do the SWF in the "morning".

Hjalmar: You're fine (although you may not feel that way). Depending on your body, you may not eliminate for several days. This has happened to others too so hang in there. :)

For the second day in a row I have NOT had an evacuation after the salt water drink. I am concerned and will switch to the laxative tea tomorrow morning unless someone has a better idea.

Thanks!

Hi Hjalmar,

I was not eliminating after the SWF for the first day or 2 of my first MC. What worked for me was adding a little bit over 2 tsp of sea salt to increase the salinity. With just 2 even tsp, it was not going through me. You may want to try adding a tad more salt and seeing if that helps.

Hi all! Just wanted to drop in and introduce myself. I will be starting my second MC this Friday, the 20th. My first cleanse was about a year and a half ago, for 20 days. I'll admit that it was rough. I worked the whole time, was always freezing, and I made the huge mistake of continuing to watch the Food Network, and also researching healthy recipes that I planned to make after I was finished. Oh, it was torture!! This time I have the first few days scheduled off from work, have my electric blanket ready, and do not plan to watch or read about anything food-related!

I felt the call to do another cleanse after doing a couple of raw food days, and really noticing how much different (better) I was feeling because of it. So I thought it would be a good time for a fresh start. I hope to make this MC introspective and do some spiritual reading and meditating, rather than just trying to get through it, like I did with my first cleanse.

I am only planning to go for that standard 10 days, but perhaps I'll increase it to 14, depending on how I am feeling and what's going on. :)

I got the majority of my information for the first time around from the website Cure Zone, and posted and read a lot there during that time. Then recently I stumbled across The Raw Food Site and picked up Peter's book that I am reading now. I figured it would help me to get through this second go around.

Hi all,

I will be starting Day 1 of the MC (first timer) tomorrow! I am very excited and nervous at the same time to see how my body will react to it.

Starting weight: 130 pounds
Goal weight: 120 pounds

I will be shooting for the full 10 days! I would love to keep you all updated with my progress... And appreciate any enouragement and/or insight!

Good luck to everyone else! :)

Hjimar,

My body was also holding onto the salt water for whatever reason. It took me 6 or more hours to eliminate only a fraction of the full quart. Then, I read the trick in the book about the cayenne pepper.

Drop just over 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne onto the back of your tongue. Drink it down with some lemonade or water or tea or whatever. Within a minute, I was on the toilet eliminating..and my cramps were gone. I mentioned it to my mom who is on a typical American diet and for her it caused a tremendous and much welcomed release of gas. She was thrilled.

Good luck!

Thx Res for all the answers.

Day 8

lost 3kg (6.6lb) since Day 0

Laxative tea last night gave me BM twice at night, and it felt good! SWF this morning gave me the usual cleansing feeling, which is good as well. I saw my dad eating breakfast this morning, and I no longer want to eat the stuff he eats... felt really greasy... and I don't want to pollute my intestines... :p The lemonade tastes very good and makes me feel very healthy. After the MC, I have all the reasons to eat Japanese food everyday!! :D:rolleyes:8);)

Thank you Nymue & Missme for your replies.

I tried a little more salt this morning and evacuated less than the quart, but maybe more than yesterday; so tomorrow I will add a little more, close to 2 1/3 tsps. What puzzles me is the SWF worked perfectly for the first 4 days. Isn't that peculiar that it didn't for days 5 & 6?

Now that 1/2 tsp of cayenne on one's tongue sounds truly alarming. Does it really say to do that in the book? Can you tell me where, please?

Cheers!

Welcome Nymue! Well I am like you and finally going to start on the 20th as well. Been lingering in here for around two months and kicking myself for not starting the first time when I wanted to. Wanted to have it over before my birthday but since have had some spiritual inspiration to start clean on my 30th birthday. We can do it and just look at it as one day at a time. At first i wanted to go for forty days but with several false starts I am just going to play it by ear and day to day. Good luck and will be back over the weekend!

Day 6

Another day done! It was a tough one today and I hope tomorrow is a little better.

I felt a little low, hungry and sorry for myself. I was also yucky and achy and felt, for loss of a better word, TOXIC!!! This has not happened to me before and I am so glad I had to go to school and to work so I couldn't mope around too much. Mind you, one of my students gave me these amazing homemade treats (I won't torture you all with a description, but lets just say it was a true test of my desire to stay on track) and while normally they might not bother me I had to call my mom and ask her to talk to me while I threw them in the trash because they smelled WAY too good to resist!:(

4 months ago I went off birth control pills and they have not left my system yet (still am not back on my cycle) and I am sure that the detox from the synthetic hormones have something to do with the mood fluctuations today. Does anyone out there have any experience with this?

No matter what though, today was a smashing success as I am still here and I'm glad to know that something is working it's way out of my body, hopefully for good.:)

Anyways, I hope you are all doing well and enjoying your day:)

I have a friend who wants to try the MC, but doesn't want to take probiotics afterwards. Is it ok? She doesn't believe in pills and is very reluctant in taking pills after the MC. Since this is my first MC, can someone explain to her what will happen if she doesn't take the probiotics?:confused::confused:

Thanks!

Day 14 here. Hanging in there. I still have plenty of energy, never been hungry, My hands & feet have been very cold. Really looking forward to Day 20 when I break the cleanse. I'm so craving bad foods, but I want to do a raw food diet to continue to lose the weight, so I'm going to have to find some good receipes too, like that raw pie. The days have been flying by, 6 more days for me! Congrats to everyone for making it another day! Love & Light to all.:)

Hello KMalize! I turned 30 last month, and also want to turn things around health-wise so I can go forward light and clean. I think taking it one day at a time is a good idea. I actually came down with a cold last night, and I was concerned about starting the MC while I'm sick, but I think I'm going to go ahead and start this Friday. I always wanted to test the theory to see if you recover faster from an illness if you fast. So this will be an experiment as well as a cleanse!

Good luck to you! :D

I'm not hungry and haven't been for most of the cleanse. But I miss variety, and I'm so ready for something besides a glass of LA. I'm repeating myself. Time to go.

Well I finally finished Peter's book last night. I am still trying to find the right time to start. I have all the ingredients except for the fresh lemons. I figure I will get those the day before i start, then I know for sure I will be making the commitment. The book has been very informing and inspiring, and now of course these boards I feel will be especially helpful. I talked to my husband a little bit more about it last night, and from what I can tell, he will be supportive and not try to sabotage my attempt. He knows I am pretty strong when I make up my mind to do something. Though I am concerned about not taking my Estroven and Body Balance for 10 days for fear of hot flashes coming back, I am still willing to go through with this.

Im staying strong though. 7 more days... and I will be in OJ heaven. :)

Have a great day everyone!

Well getting ready for the big start and have such a peace about it. My coworker has been asking me about when I was going to do it and wants to join which will be nice to have a partner. Takin a three day weekend to meditate and 'get active' to hopefully minimize the hunger! For me it is going to be a much more psychological journey than a physical one and I am looking forward to the ride. Nothing good worth having is easy to come by! And from the threads this is no different. Funny to me how with my special day everyone wants to do stuff this weekend. I gave them all a time tonight to come out and celebrate and say what they needed to but of course there are those that want me to put it off for them. Not going to do it though because this is ALL ABOUT ME! Thanks for listening and more to come!

Day 9 very amazed at myself!!!
lost 3.2 kg (7lbs) since Day 0

I thought that laxative tea gave me cramps again last night, but i found out this morning that it was something else... had my usual BM at midnight and this morning. SWF felt great this morning.
I really wanted to eat rice last night when my family was having dinner. It smelled soooooo good. I imagined myself eating it, then I told myself I have to endure less than 2 days and I cannot quit after overcoming the big 8 days..... and I fell asleep while thinking about it... :p

Before, I was counting by days... now, I am counting the hours...

Morning of Day 6 - Finally able to do the full 32 oz of the SWF! I've been tired every day of the cleanse so far and waking up odd hours of the night. So, I reviewed how I've been doing the clease and see where to make changes: drink more lemonades per day and more additional water.

I'm in the zone of my inner decision to stay on the cleanse over rides any compulsive craving indulgence. ALL sorts of food sound good. Dried beans were making my mouth water!

My tounge is scarry fuzzy which means mucous is being eliminated. yea and gross same time.

On Day 22 and Day 29 we have two special events to attend. I'll attend but man I wish I'd realized to begin the cleanse Feb 1 not Feb 14! I'll go anyway and have a great social time. By then I'll be so far alongon the cleanse I intend to stick with it!

6 days and lost 14 pounds so far. Really want to sleep so i'll sleep extra this weekend.

Day 15. I've lost 9 lbs in the past 10 days. I 've had plenty of energy to do my step aerobics. I still have eczema that's been itching like crazy and some aches in my joints. I've been hoping those would go away with this detox. The strange thing is my tongue has been mostly pink this whole time. There's been about 2 days where it's had a little bit of white coating, but it's been very pink. I've never done a cleanse before, so I wonder if this is working to detox my system. Any comments, Res?

After I finish breaking the fast, the wife and I are planning on starting the The Raw Food Detox Diet next week. For those who might be familiar with the diet, we plan on starting at level 3. My personal goal is to try and eat raw about 80% of the time to start.

Congrats to everyone for making it another day! :D

I am 28 years old and this is my first Master Cleanse...I am on day 9! Nobody who knows me would ever believe I could have made it this far. I wanted to share a few of my experiences and was so glad to find this site. First I have to say that the number one reason I decided to do this was to kick my addiction to sugar (which I believe I have). I quit smoking 2 1/2 years ago and without realizing it took up sugar instead. I have diabetes running wild on both sides of my family and realized that sugar may in fact be more deadly to me personally than my smoking was! It was a very harrowing thought. I had a full physical about 2 months ago and was given a relatively clean bill of health... no problems with my blood sugar (yet). I knew I was fortunate for the time being, but needed to make a radical change or my destiny would be sealed. I tried to just quit sugar... but it made me cranky and I found myself "cheating" when no one was looking. I felt like such a failure. It was roughly a month ago when a friend at work started talking about detoxing using some product (whatever) and it made me start thinking that maybe that was the route I needed to go. I have even tried hypnosis for my eating problems... subconciously I went down the wrong road and ended up gaining almost 20 pounds after that nightmare! So when I researched body cleansing and found 100s of different "products" on the market I felt a bit overwhelmed. I searched for "best natural cleanse" and found Master Cleanse and the rest is history. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself and I am so proud of myself.

Personal changes and experiences on the Master Cleanse:
Positives :)
-I can actually tell the difference between hunger and cravings
-I have no desire to eat candy or actually junk food in general (threw away all my stashes on day 3)
-I am learning to self-soothe not only hunger, but my life in general
-Water really does make you feel full
-I do have real willpower!
-I feel like I am experiencing what it feels like to be alive for the first time
-Surprisingly, I feel like I have more patience and willingness to forgive and far less anger/cranky-ness
-I cooked for my boyfriend on day 6 and every night since! Realized I could just appreciate the smell of the good food without having the desire to make myself a plate, let alone even taste it.
-Heightened other senses... smell and touch mostly
-I am much more aware of my surroundings like I woke up from sleepwalking through life!

Negatives :(
-I was hungry the 2nd and 3rd day all day (now it comes and goes and I control it with water/juice)
-On the night of the 7th day I woke with the worst intestinal cramps of my life (tea?) and produced little to nothing in elimination... slept on the bathroom floor in the fetal postion crying for over 3 hours
-Raw, burning skin (you know where) - my "remedy" was 2 squares of Charmin Extra Soft with a generous squeeze of real pure aloe on top placed on the sore area and left there until next elimination *Do not skimp on the T.P. people... it makes all the difference
-Also to aleviate the pain during elimination I hold T.P. against the skin to absorb things before they could touch the skin (sounds gross, but it's really not the bad considering the amount of pain it was causing me not to)
-If you make the lemonade in advance do not add the pepper... if you add it right before you drink a glass it won't compromise the taste nearly as much (figured that out on day 7)
-I wouldn't say I feel tired, but I certainly do not have the energy to do much of anything... feel dizzy if standing for too long or under bright store lights (first shopping trip during cleanse - Best Buy last night felt like I was tripping, had to leave quickly and have someone else drive)
-Blurred vision a little at night, kind of trippy (would not suggest driving at night)

I can't think of anything else right now. Except that I am excited about coming to the end. My plan is to ease out of course and then move into eating mostly vegetarian. I am going to keep fish, chicken and dairy... no red meat or pork. I am nervous about gaining weight back though... I have lost 11 pounds! I still have about 35 pounds to go. Once I am eating again and have my energy back I have a gym membership that I am going to put to work! I also use the Body Bugg and am going to re-read "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle". I think I have the tools necessary to succeed this time... thanks 110% to the Master Cleanse.

Hello all you lemonheads in lemon world! I am on day 41 and have decided to go for 50 days! Yes, that's right, 50 days. I absolutely, positively will end this fast though after 50 days. Ten days left to go, woohoo! Today I weighed in at 91 pounds (I am 4'9" tall - very, very petite). Thus far I have lost 17 pounds on the MC and I am so happy to be back down around 90 pounds. I am 42 years old and I look hot if I do say so myself! I still have a pretty white tongue, plenty of detoxing still to go.

Hey everyone! Haven't really posted much since my first cleanse in 2007 when I lost 7lbs in 10 days. Well since then I've had a beautiful baby boy (and gained 72lbs during the pregnancy). I lost around 50 of it and then stalled for 2 months straight! Based on some other symptoms I realized that it had to be toxins. Well after 10 days this go around I have lost 11.5lbs! I am on day 14 and seem to have stalled out but I think I've figured out why. I was losing rather rapidly with 5 lemonades with 2 tblsps of agave nectar a day and then (silly me) decided to reduce it to one table spoon per drink! Well thankfully I keep a food journal and was able to recognize that! So today I've increased back up to 2 tblsps per lemonade...we'll see what happens tomorrow!

I just finished day 3 and I'm feeling great and enthusiastic about this. My twin has been advocating this for years and only eats raw fruits and veggies. I'm finally listening and I know I'll wish I had done this sooner...but as they say "better late than never" right?! Question: I have been diagnosed with Melasma by my dermatoligist. I have spent $1000's on laser treatments, peels and topical medications...has anyone out there had their melasma clear up from doing this cleanse? Mine is all over my forehead and chin area. What an additional bonus this would be if that goes away along with everything else! :)

Thank you for the welcome. Today is day 14. I am feeling very well except for feeling cold so much of the time. Is that a normal reaction? I have lost ten pounds since the beginning of the cleanse, and am grateful for that. The skin on my face has tightened, and I look younger. My body shape has also changed, which is great.

I intend to go twenty days, but am having a problem with the local health food store, which is the only place where I can get grade B maple syrup. Does it make much of a difference if I have to use grade A?

It is nice to read about people's experiences. I hope that you are all doing well.

All grades can be used in the diet but the darker grades are the most desirable.

The B grade has more minerals than A grade.

Hi Cindy Wilcox,
41 Days is totally awesome. I'm surprised you want to go 51 days since you've met your weight goal. I'm really craving food, not hungry, just craving bad foods, like pasta, french fries, ect. I hope that I can maintain my weight when I get off and possibly lose more. I want to do raw food diet, but I'm craving chicken too. Because I wasn't losing as much weight as others I've been reading about, I quit using the maple syrup the last 2 days. Have you been using the maple syrup? I think I'll use a little tomorrow to help with the cravings. Glad to see you back, but don't you worry about hair loss staying on this cleanse so long? Take care!:)

Hi Phil Curtis,
I'm in London too and have been trying to find the Maple Syrup. Holland & Barrett used to sell it, but they've discontinued now (although they do sell Agave Nectar for around £2.50 for 250ml). But Sainsbury's sell Organic Maple Syrup that's made by ROWSE which I think is around £4.70 for 250ml. As far as I can tell that's also Grade B. I really don't like the maple syrup very much although respect it's qualities so this time around I'm also going to try the Agave Nectar as well in the hope of varying the taste at times.
I hope that helps.

First few days have been really tough this time around. But we have stayed strong, and today things are going a little better.

Hello Phil Curtis, me again!

I've been doing a bit more research into other options away from the taste of maple syrup and there's a forum on here which recommends Madal Bal syrup as being a bit more nutritious (anyone else able to confirm or correct me here). The thread on that is here >>> http://therawfoodsite.com/forum/showthread.php?t=586

If you go with that then Revital online store sells it, and that's the place I bought my smooth move tea from too. Here's the link to them http://www.revital.co.uk/Madalbal_Natural_Tree_Syrup It's £24.95 for approximately 5 days supply and the link to revital gives you a lot of information on the syrup. It's free delivery over £7.50 orders too.

I'm planning to start my cleanse on Tuesday 3 March as that's the best time for me to avoid temptation and I've also booked just over a week off work from 5th. So, I may get some of this Madal Bal syrup to try too if it's as good as maple syrup. Anything to avoid the Maple Farm maple syrup that I dislike so much.

If anyone out there has any advice on Madal Bal it would be greatly appreciated, either way?

Thanks everyone and thank you all for helping me prepare to succeed on this cleanse I'm currently preparing for. I haven't given myself a specific time frame other than to get to 10 days but my body is in a really bad way so I think more time could be required.

Hi Floridagirl,

I haven't had any problems with loosing hair, in fact, my hair and my nails seem to have grown faster than normal on this cleanse. They're a little dry which is unusual for me but I'm not worried, it'll probably take a little time after the MC for it to return to normal. I'll have to get plenty of Omega 3s. Originally I thought going beyond 40 days was unhealthy too when I read about others doing it but I looked this up again in Stanley Burroughs book and he does say that it is safe to do the fast for up to 40 days and beyond for extreme cases. Before I started this at 108 pounds I didn't think I was an exteme case but I do not seem to be short of toxins and my tongue is far from pink. To be honest there really wasn't a specific weight that I wanted to get to, I just wanted to stay on it as long as I could and loose as much weight as I could without being unhealthy, that really became my goal. I've read in places on the BB that it's better to go for one long fast than several short ones. It takes the first 10 days just to get the current main stuff out of you, then you're body can really work on repairing itself and the longer you're on it, the more it can repair itself. I think people who have had problems with hair falling out are people who have been on the clease multiple times. I've also noticed that some people don't wait very long in between fasts, I think that's kind of unhealthy, just my opinion. I drink a little less syrup than 2 tablespoons in each of my lemonade drinks and now that I'm down to about 91 pounds, I've dropped the number of drinks down to about 4 1/2. If you have the time for it, you might want to try breaking up your workout into two sessions, do half in the morning and half in the evening. I've read that when you reduce your caloric intake, your metabolism slows down. Somewhere on the BB it said that when you reduce your caloric intake down to 500 calories a day your metabolism slows down 90%. If you break up your cardio workout, your metabolism stays high for a while after each workout. I jog for 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening and I've been loosing roughly 1/4 pound a day ever since the initial mass weight loss that I had in the beginning of the fast, although I did plateau a few times. Hope that helps.

Floridagirl,

I just read the thread on hair loss. That is a bit scary, I'll try to make sure I consume as much protein as possible after I'm done, I'm going to check into that Nuti ox shampoo as well. This hair loss can only be from a lack of protein. Thanks for the tip.

DAY 9

I am in need of some quick advice. I counted the days wrong and thought that today would be my last day when in fact tomorrow should be the last day. The problem is that I am in marathon training and while the short weekly runs have been fine so far I have a 12 mile run tomorrow. I skipped the long run last week so cannot skip it this time. I thought Saturday would be the day I broke my fast and was counting on being able to eat some light raw food to get me through (I know it's supposed to just be juice, but trying to balance this with training is really challenging...) and lemonade probably won't cut it. Does anyone have any input on whether I should make today my last day or if I should try to power through the run? Has anyone here ever run 12miles with only juice?

Res, any advice?

I don't feel like I am done detoxing yet so I am extra sad to have to end; I feel like it should be a 20 day cleanse to really get it all out. I am going to be doing a 30 day raw challenge after this though, so at least I won't re-toxify....

I hope someone here has some experience with this; otherwise I will make today my last day...

Thanks, everybody!

Hi Lemonlovers today is my second day, all is well, I had a very bad headache last night, im pleased to say it has dissappeared after sleeping.Donny I know the headaches can be very painful here are some things that help me.. dark room, damp cold cloth on forhead and lay down. Drink lots of water it will help with the detox symptons. The headaches are a withdrawel from caffine and sugar mostly...Hope this helps..

Hi Cindy Wilcox,
It was a big mistake to leave out the maple syrup the last couple days. When I woke up this morning, my stomach felt so empty and I was so week. I used maple syrup today in my LA and feel better now. But I'm so craving the foods I see advertized on TV, it's drivibg me crazy. I wanted to go 20 days but now I'm feeling like breaking the cleanse early. Maybe, skipping the maple syrup is causing the cravings too. I'm glad you're feeling so great. I think I'd be doing alot better if I was getting results, but my tongue isn't white, my eliminations aren't very much, my weight loss has been minimal, and my eczema is still itching. I've been putting my aloe plant on it. Take care and Be good to yourself! You have been an inspiration. Thanks for the tips.:)

Hey Donny,

Being a heavy coffee drinker, I have found the first two days almost unbearable with headaches. The first cleanse I actually cheated took Ibuprofen but on the second cleanse I just got through it by cutting back significantly in caffeine the week before I started. I know that's no help now but may for the next cleanse you do.
I guarantee it's the caffeine and if it makes it any better, realize that it won't last more than two days (that's how long it is to detox from caffeine I've learned, even when not doing the cleanse, at least for me).

Hope that helps!

Well, today is my 2nd day of my 2nd Master Cleanse. So far it's going pretty well! I was a bit headachey yesterday, but then again, I'm getting over a cold and had a headache the day before I started the cleanse too. That day I was eating all raw in prep for the MC, so maybe that had something to do with it too. And I'm an every day coffee drinker (usually just 1 cup). So I guess that's not too bad as far as detox symptoms go.
I meant to drink at least 8 lemonades yesterday, but I only made it to 7. It was a bit of a pain to have to juice a lemon or lime for almost EVERY drink. Today I juiced a couple at once just to make sure it would be easier to get my full dose of lemonade. It's probably enough for 3-4 drinks, so I don't think that's too much to make in advance.
This morning I had a sort of heaviness/tenderness in my calves and into my feet. It lasted for a couple of hours before it went away. I read somewhere that when you're detoxing, a lot of the toxins go into the legs, so I guess this makes sense. It was a first for me though, I didn't experience anything like that on my first MC.

Unlike my first MC, I really haven't been hungry at all, except once yesterday when I went too long w/out a lemonade (I was at the dog park). I am making sure not to watch anything food related on TV (this includes commercials!), and even having my boyfriend eat 2 hamburgers and fries in front of me today wasn't that bad.

I hope it stays this way for the rest of the cleanse.. although I can imagine how after a few more days in I might start getting the desire to chew.

Good luck to all, and congrats on another day!! :)

Day one........:(
Well unfortunately I didn't make it. My wife just got over bronchitis and I thought that I was coming down with it. It wasn't too bad so I went ahead with my plans to do the MC thinking that, after reading about MC and a common cold, I would be able to get over it. My coughing quadrupled and was unbearable on my headache. I had to do something about it. So I took some cough syrup w/codeine but first, you guessed it. I had to eat so the codeine didn't upset my stomach.

MC # 1 = failure but after I beat this cough, hopefully it's NOT bronchitis, I will be attempting a 15 day MC again. Talk to yo all again real soon.

well, blink and you're on day 4!
Yesterday was rough....swf didn't run through very good (I don't think I had it salty enough) and I took about a 4 hour nap. Tired, headache-y and slightly nauseated. Typical day 3! So now I'm waiting for my swf to start running and I can tell it's working this morning--stomach is gurgling like crazy! Good sign!

Hang in there everyone! You can do it! If I could do 30 days last time, YOU can certainly do 10! I truly believe this is as much a mental journey as anything....learning to break the addiction to food HAS to start in the head.

I'm looking forward to doing a 30 day raw challenge when I'm done, which will actually be the whole month of March if I stop the cleanse at 10 days. Is anyone else going to do that?

Hey there Bandaloop. I'm on day three today as well. So far I am doing great! My lingering headache is gone and I have some energy. I did 30 minutes of Wii Fit and cleaned the house. No cravings, no hunger really to speak of. This is my second time around, and so far this cleanse seems easier than the first one. Hopefully I will not have to eat my words!

I have also read numerous places that days 2 and 3 are some of the worst, but I think it really just depends on each individual.

Hope your day 3 is a great one! :D

Hi Floridagirl,

I'm sorry to here you're not getting the results you wanted. It sounds like maybe you're just not as toxic as I am. That's a good thing though. For me, I think this was the missing link. I have done everthing else to loose weight: proper diet and exercise but I had never detoxified. I did find that I lost a lot of weight like everybody else at the beginning of the fast then the weight loss slowed down dramatically. I only loose about 2 pounds a week now and I plateau sometimes like right now. At this point the weight loss is from gradual detoxification and just depriving myself of calories, though I'm not getting the dramatic results I had in the beginning I'm still getting better results than if I do any other kind of diet, that's the way I look at it. Well take care and do what your body tells you to do!

Cheers!

Hi, This is my 4th cleanse. I wanted to do 21 days but cheated on the 19th days so I decided to come off the cleanse early. Day 17, 18 and 19, I had these eye issues b/c I have terrible eye allergy. I thought it was just detox symptoms so I let it be. After the first day of OJ, I woke up in the middle of the night and felt nausea all night and then finally vomit. I throw up just water and oj. Then a massive migraine came on, what should I do at this point? Continue with my OJ, and then go off it after I am feeling better or go back onto the lemonades????

Please help! My nausea has not subsided and I am worried that if I continue to do the OJ, more throwing up??? Not sure to what to do. Also my migraines, I need to have relieve from both.

:) Well the night is finally here when I will drink my first tea (my first laxative EVER!) I am very nervouse about what the morning will bring and how things will "flow" . Also hoping that things are moving in the first few days and slow down a little like the norm seems to be....I have read in the book that sometimes it takes a few longer for those who eat the "SAD" diet..which is me....I have to be in a 3 hour workshop on Thursday and it's about 30-40 minutes from the house  Trying to figure out if there is a kind of schedule of how things "typicaly" move along...
I am aiming for the 10 days. If it goes well I will keep going longer.....

Nymue I am glad that you were able to start. I started with a friend who had a hard time working out on Sunday so she quit. I am HUNGRY myself but remembering the days when I use to eat because I needed to not because I had a problem so that is helping out a little. I am such a FOOD and ALCOHOL addict it is bad. I guess you don't get up to 282 lbs being healthy. Started exercising today and feeling better. Ready to make 30 the best year yet! Good luck to all as well!! Also logging into here as a junior member is more motivation especially since I still haven't done it yet. This is such a great tool to read and use. Hopefully others find it just as useful.

I also am on day 3. I've done the cleanse several times in the past, but it's been a couple of years. Feeling pretty good this time! I did water down my coffee for the week prior to wean myself off a bit, and only had a headache on the first day this time. Woohoo!

As always, the food commercials on TV really taunt me. I don't really eat the kinds of foods advertised, but they all look so goooooood. I don't even mind people eating in front of me, I like to smell the food. But for some reason, seeing it on the TV I get drooly. Wierd, I know!

Also, this time I did get the neck pain, it comes and goes. SO glad I'm doing this. I'm aiming for the usual 10 days. Greetings to my fellow day 3-ers, and everyone doing the cleanse right now!

From This cleanse I want to....
-Lose about 10 lbs
-Get better control in my consumption habits...better moderation
-Lift spirits and get back on track with excercise
-When 10 days is up I want to go raw for 10 days, then mainly vegan/paleo way of eating (maybe with out meat, i its been grossing me out lately)
-I want to indulge regularly and smartly so I don't overdo it when I do!

Alright its go time....Thanks for reading it helps the accountability!

Hello Floridagirl,

How much cayenne pepper do you use? I've read on here that when people up their cayenne pepper the detox improves. I'm a bit nervous about that as I really don't like anything spicy (although maybe it will help on the cold days) so was just curious about how much you were using as you don't feel you're detoxing enough.

I'm sorry to hear you're almost done. I've really enjoyed reading your posts. Take care.

Hello Everybody!!!

I hope you're all doing swell on your MC adventure. You're all an inspiration to me. I'm planning my next cleanse for a week from today.

BIG QUESTION:
If you've done this cleanse more than 3x or something, what do you do during to prepare you for life post-cleanse. Do you journal (besides on here)? Do you map out a strategy for healthier eating/living?
Are there any books besides the ones by Burroughs and Glickman that have helped you along this path of wellness? I ask b/c my weight has gone through alarming fluctuations after my last 2 MC's but I don't want to cross it out as "not for me" yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Hi nancycola.

My day 0 will be next Monday. I can't start the swf until Tuesday morning so you'll be a day in front of me but it's so nice to know I'll be starting this around the time that someone else plans to.

I haven't done this 3 or more times, but i have really prepared myself for this. My preparation for this has been to make a list of all the reasons why I want to complete the cleanse to carry around with me (so I have something to turn to when I'm feeling weak wherever I am), but I've also been writing a daily diary/journal at home on how I've been feeling and the lack of pleasure I now get from food and how I feel after eating something bad. Again, I'll read through this if I need some self support. I've also printed off a couple of pictures of before and after successful dieters which inspire me to help me get through the SWF in the morning. Call it an incentive!!! Although I do want to lose weight on this, it's not my main reason for going on it. I seem to have built up an intolerance to so much food now and my digestion can't cope. As a result I never feel well anymore and as time goes on I'm becoming more and more anti-social as I don't always have the energy to deal with socialising much.

Lastly, I've ordered a few horror films for when I need something to take my mind off food. I read on this forum that the best thing to watch was something scary as those films don't need to be based around a food place. Friends and Sex in the City aren't recommended because although they're all thin they're always eating and drinking!

Sorry to have gone on and completely revealed my OCD ! But I know these things will get me over the hurdles as I get to them, particularly in the first 3 days that everyone talks about, so hopefully they can help you too.

Good luck on your cleanse next week.

Hi Cindy Wilcox & Tiggy,
Thanks for the support. On my 18th day I broke the cleanse with OJ. I went to the health food store and bought vegetables for the veg. soup and salad stuff. I had said before that I didn't have enough positive results to stay on the MC but for a 17-18 day fast, I did lose 2 inches on my waist. I'm not sure on the lbs lost because one scale says 9, and one scale said 5. Losing 2 inches, it must have been at least 9 lbs. I drank OJ and water yesterday, only 3 oranges, and did the evening tea and had a good elimination early this morning. Looking at the results of the cleanse this morning, I almost want to jump back on to try to lose another 10 lbs. But I've been really craving food so bad, I just wasn't having fun anymore on the MC. I think my biggest mistake was leaving out the maple syrup for 2 days, trying to speed up the weight loss. After that, I felt so bad & week, the bad food cravings were really strong. I was disapointed that I didn't lose more weight after 15 days, but like Cindy said, " I've lost more weight than I've ever lost before on any diet." I'm going to try to eat as much raw as I can. I know I'll cheat some, but I hope I can maintain my weight loss until the next MC. I'd like to do the next MC in May and hopefully I can go 20-30 days then. I wish you all the best! Love and Light to you!:)

Prettyraw - I will definitley post my progress - please do the same!

Today has been a breeze so far, I am energized and not hungry at all. I am alternating glass of LA and bottle of water. Seems to be working so far, just have to make lots of trips to the BR

Anyone know if it is ok to have pellegrino or sparking water? I normally have it all the time and it will be strange to only have 'flat' water.

I am on day 1 of my first cleanse. Tea last night at 11:00 maybe a little late, oops! Salt water flush at 6:00am today also a little late for my liking. I was late for work as I was afraid to leave the house until 8:00am. Reaching for my 4th Lemonade now. Tea is great, as is the lemonade, no comment on the salt water as I am trying really hard to be positive. In time I'm sure I'll get through it a bit easier. My co-worker is eating a great smelling hot sandwich but no desire here. Over all pretty excited and feeling good so far. Almost 1:00pm..

Does anyone exercise on day 1 or 2 ??

Day three and things are well. I feel great - no detox symptoms other than a coated tongue and sharper sense of smell. The SWF yesterday was just awful (without going into detail). Three pounds gone and the edema in my legs and feet is already significantly reduced. I use about half of the maple syrup - it makes the lemonade too sweet and I want to keep my sugar levels down. That is my only variation from the instructions.

Yesterday I had cravings for potato chips and dip bur resisted.

I really want to give up.

I am on day 4, and things have not gotten any easier, and I have also just started my period and am having the worst cramps of my life.

I am irittable, in pain in my lower abdomen and lower back, I feel hungry even though I have recently had a cup of the juice, and I have a throbbing headache.

Things just don't seem to be getting easier...to top it off I'm in school and it's pouring rain outside.

I'm thinking of breaking the fast tomorrow.

BandaloopDoctor, You don't want to break the fast after a bad day. You are detoxing and the toxins should come out tomorrow morning with the SWF. You CAN DO IT! Hang in there and you will be SO glad you stuck it out! I'm rooting for ya!

Is this your first cleanse? If so you can expect to have some pretty strong detoxing...especially if you have been eating the SAD.

I am on day 5 and feel good today....yesterday was not so good. So hang in there, it will get better!

Thank you so much, that is exactly what I needed to hear. I don't do the SWF, but I do drink the smooth move every night and morning, andf that keeps me going a lot.

what is SAD?

nancycola
February 23rd, 2009, 02:59 PM
It means Standard American Diet. Meat, dairy, processed/refined carbs, etc.

Hang in there, Bandaloop, it will get better. Maybe a bath, a nap, switching to limes, or a peppermint tea will help. You can do it!!! :D

Day 1 = This is the first day of my 6th MC. I am planning to go 10 days - I have gone longer in the past but it seems soooo far away! I am hoping to feel a lot better and lose some weight. I noticed after my first cleanse that I did not lose as much weight or as quickly. Has anyone else noticed that?

I'm on Day 4 and still not feeling hungry however do have some lower back pain. Is that because of the detox of the liver & kidneys?

Hi Floridagirl,

I had one more idea, I'm not sure if I mentioned it before. Another thing I did this year that helped me loose a lot of weight and get in really good shape was Bikram yoga. It might be a bit much living in Florida, it's already hot and humid there but if that doesn't bother you and if there's a studio near you, you could give it a whirl. I'll warn you though, it's not for the faint hearted. It's 90 minutes of yoga in a room that's heated to 105 degrees. It's pretty intense but it did wonders for me. In the first 6 weeks I went from a size 12 petite to an 8 petite then in the next month I went down to a size 6 petite. I was eating well while doing this, just eliminating bad carbs and bad fats, eating lots of vegetables and fruits. I believe there philosophy is detoxing as well but I admit I don't know as much about it as I should, I just know I loved it and I love what it did for me. They usually have specials for first timers, $30 for the first 30 days. :) I hope that helps!

Take Care,

Cindy

Bandaloop Doctor,

I highly recommend doing the SWF every morning if you can, it will make you feel so much better! I heat the water on the stove a little so that it's warm when I drink it and I drink it through a straw. I've actually gotten used to it and now it just tastes like a salty soup broth. Hope that helps. :)

I tried doing it my first day, and I actually threw up a bit into the bowl i was drinking from, I was using a straw. It just tastes too much like the ocean to me. I started feeling better once i had an elimination, I suspect the toxins that I passed were what was causing my discomfort.

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum. I hope all are doing well. I' m ending day 4 and about to drink a warm cup of my smooth move tea... I've found that yesterday and today I'm feeling very hungry and my stomach is growling up a storm! I want to cleanse for a minimum of 14 days or a max. of 40. I must admit I'm little afraid to go to 40! This is my second mc, I completed my first last july and felt SO much better afterwards. I'm determined to feel that good again so. Wish me luck everyone...I'll be rooting for you all!
Peace.

Hi, I haven't started yet but Peter said in his book that he found OJ to be to heavy on the tiummy and chose to drink grapefruit juice instead.....don't know if that will help or not, good luck;)

I did the grapefruit juice after first cleanse and I broke out in a rash so I switched into OJ. I did not have this problem the last 3 cleanses. I went to see my doctor this morning and she thinks I caught a stomach bug since the vomiting ended in 12 hours trend. She wants me to go back onto a raw diet. I just did a bit a carrot and apple juice last couple of days to carried me over the 3 days period of juice. I will start my raw diet tomorrow as prescribe in the original MC. I'll try to stay on course as much as I can just like the last 3 cleanses.

For those that are still out there...so am I. So yesterday I was doing great. Ignoring all the food invites from my office (they eat ALL the time and they are thin????). Ignoring the snacks that everyone got from the local Korean store and are trying which are some of my favorite treats. And the promotion party invites for the evening. I go to make my LA and my MS has floaties...yes folks maple syrup MOLDS!?!? So of course over here the commissary (I live in S. Korea right now) isn't open until today. So what do I decide to do....go have a drink(s) and FOOD. Another failed attempt....
Got the ingredients today and getting ready to drink the tea...Another day 1 and this will be the last!! Thanks for letting me vent!

Hello Donny,
From what I understand from other people's experiences on the forum your headache should completely disappear tomorrow after the SWF. So, it sounds like your biggest hurdle will be over soon hopefully.

It's really helped me reading all these posts as I'm starting my cleanse next Tuesday and I now know to stop the caffeine at least 2 or 3 days before then so that I can get through those withdrawals as they tend to give me a migraine that is often accompanied with an upset stomach. I have the weakest stomach! If the slightest thing goes wrong for me my stomach quits on me too - which is why I believe this cleanse is very much needed.

So stick with it Donny - your determination and persistence on this is inspiring for people like me. Thanks everyone for sharing your success for the motivation and your difficult detox demons for the inspiration.

Take care.

WAY to go Donny for trying to do this with emotional distress! Maybe quitting the cigs cold turkey would be the ticket....maybe if the body can just cleanse from the nicotine without you putting more in it would work better....I really don't know, that's just my thought...But I am glad you are trying to do this..Best of Luck and hang in there!!!

Hi Fruitloop,
I was using about 1/4 teaspoon of cayanne pepper in each 15 oz bottle of LA, so about 1 teaspoon/day which I thought was strong but good. But my fiance used about double or more of the cayanne and eliminated so much more and lost more wieght. I think next time I'll try increasing the cayanne pepper. Sometimes, I just put some cayanne pepper in my water and drink it. Good Luck to you!

Hi Cindy Wilcox,
The Yoga in 105 degree heat does seem like it would do the job. I've never heard of any place around here doing that, but I'll check into it. Thanks for the info. I had my vegetable soup yesterday. It was good and I didn't gain any weight from it. Happy Cleansing!:)

Day 2 and the salt water was so much better. I get up at 5:00 am drink and go back to bed for an hour. Helps me take my mind of the bloated and nautious feeling until it's time to eliminate and get ready for work. On my second lemonade of the day and I feel great. Funny, day 2 is supposed to be a hard one? Hope this feeling lasts.

Thanks FloridaGirl,
I'm not too good with spicy stuff so thanks for the tip of having some with water. I guess as long as you consume the right amount in a day over regular periods and with some lemonade or water it'll be ok. I'm thinking that the more cayenne the better the results so I'm hoping to gradually build up the amount I use as the cleanse goes on.
Thanks again.

Hi Everyone,
I'm on Day Two! SWF was more difficult to swallow today than yesterday, but I drank as much as I could and ..... it worked. I've been trying to keep myself busier than usual to just keep my mind off of food. I do find that the LA are very satisfying in that they are sweet, tart, hot...all the different flavors/tastes. I woke up this morning feeling pretty achey and tired. Yesterday I had so much energy. Well, that's it for now. I love reading what everyone has to say...it's all very supportive!

Thank you!

Hi All,
Day 2 for me and all is going super well! I feel great, have tons of energy and am not hungry at all :p

prettyraw - my first cleanse i had a real hard time with the SWF... It has gotten much easier for me by doing the following to get it down
1: making it about the temperature of soup broth
2: counting my 'gulps' - i do 4 sets of 10 big gulps and that generally gets it down
3: most important for me is to suck on a bit of lemon before & after I start my 'gulps'

Hope this helps!!!

Hey Donny,

Sounds like you're getting on really well with it after the initial hurdle of a bad head. Thanks for keeping us all updated on how well you're doing. You're a great motivation for when I start next week.

The SWF is 2 teaspoons of water (the little ones) in 32oz of water (which is 1 Litre). I tend to measure mine out in half a litre with 1 teaspoon as looking at 1 litre of salt water that needs drinking is just too much for me psychologically.

I hope that helps you.
