ddohl2: I'll put the recipe on the Raw Foods/After the Cleanse thread so that I'm not torturing anyone. I think you and I are on the same day, but I'm only doing 9 (so a little short, but alas, it is better than nothing!), so congrats to you on 10 days!

Also, now that I'm an hour and a half into the SWF, I don't feel nearly as horrible as I did when I get up and I'm freezing again. Guess that SWF really does get that stuff out!!

ScrapAttack: Congratulations!!!!!! Woo-hoo!!!!!

TreLynn82: Way to go, my Day 8 teammate! I've been completely lazy this week, and mostly in either my PJs or workout gear (yes, I'm a typical unemployed lazy person this week, which really has to stop by the way) so I haven't noticed about my clothes fitting differently yet, but I can completely see it in my face too. Not as round and bloated. Such great motivation for not going back to how things were before, isn't it? I'm going to the Caribbean in a week, so this weekend, I have to dig out my bathing suits, so that will be my big test. :)

Happy SWF everyone!

Thanks Kram!

It's amazing what the MC does for my mood and wellbeing. I would normally roll out of the bed cranky that I have to get up hours before my classmates to commute to school and make it to class on time. This semester, I wake up before my alarm goes off and I'm out the door. I want to continue this MC past 10 days. I could lie and say I want to continue for the cleansing benefits and weight loss. But actually, considering my schedule, it's convenient to just drink my 6-8 glasses of lemonade and continue working on my projects than it is to stop working and find some place on or off campus that has healthy options. I get tired of Subway and boring salads at the dining facility.

Since I started the cleanse, I've increased my workload from making a shirt and bonnet to working on 1 shirt, 1 bonnet, 1 adult apron, 1 children's apron, 2 jumper dresses and 2 sheath dresses, and 3 silk pillowcases. I even understand the material being taught in my trigonometry class.

So yes, I can definitely testify to the mental clarity benefits of the MC.

Be blessed all you freakin' lemonheads!

Hey treylynn...YOU ARE DOING GREAT, AND ANY LOSS OF FAT ROLLS IS GREAT BELIEVE ME, I HAD THEM TOO. KEEP GOING IF YOU CAN, WHEN YOU GET PAST DAY 10 THE WEIGHT LOSS TRIPLES, ATLEAST FOR ME ANYWAY. DRINK MORE WATER AND THE LEMON DRINK. LET YOUR FAMILY KNOW THAT YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS FOR YOUR BODY...IF I WERE YOU I WOULD NOT TELL TOO MANY PEOPLE WHAT YOU ARE DOING, TO AVOID THE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. THEN WHEN YOU ARE DONE, YOU CAN TELL THEM. GOOD LUCK TO YOU.

Thanks Lemoneater for the advice. I do know 2 of my friends seem to act a bit jealous of what I am doing. I have invited them to join me but they don't believe that they can do it nor do they believe that I am completing the cleanse. I played sports throughout puberty and spent 8 years in the Army. I've always been good at whatever I attempt to do so I actually feed off of people doubts. It makes me work harder at accomplishing my goals. I have avoided being around others eating out though. During this cleanse, I had cravings on day 1 and 2 and now when I get hungry, I actually crave the lemonade. I don't know if others sip their lemonade or not but I don't. I average 6-8 glasses per day and I normally chug down from my coffee cup that holds 16 oz. I drink one of those and I'm good for about 4-5 hours. I love it!

Hello lemony friends,

"Jubilee" is a reference to the Biblical 50th year. Since I'm in my 50th year of life, I've declared my own personal year of jubilee and I pray that it includes getting free of my weight problems. I've spent many years taking care of my family with no regrets, but I'm paying the price now for not taking care of myself as well.

I'm on my 2nd day of my 4th MC. I've never posted before, but I thought I'd join in this time.

My first MC was 10 days about 3 years ago and I lost 10 pounds, but slid gradually right back into SAD foods. My second MC was a dismal failure because of excruciating neck pain that started on the 3rd day and wouldn't go away. Even after stopping the fast, it hurt for 6 weeks. Sooooo I'm a little leary as I start again this year. But it's sort of do or die this time for me. I'm only 5' tall and weigh nearly 200 pounds, and can't seem to get control over my eating no matter what I do. I like to follow the McDougall program and in the past lost a lot of weight with it, but no matter how many times I've tried lately, I can't seem to get it going again. About a year ago I went to a doc who put me on thyroid meds and insisted that I start eating meat and eggs after I'd been vegan for 5 years. Now, 25 pounds later, I'm heavier than ever, sicker than ever, and hating myself for my lack of control both physically and spiritually. I'm hoping that the MC will give me a fresh start I so desperately need.

Today was rough- I had a bad headache all day (as I did on the other two MCs as well-first 3 days) even though I don't use much caffeine. It's been nearly unbearable but I'm stubbornly sticking it out and did not take any advil or anything as I usually would. I deliberately started when I could spend the first 3 days at home and just ride it out. Also, for the first time, I vomited up the SWF two hours after taking it. It usually works quickly and in the right direction, so this was an unpleasant surprise. I'm following the book to the letter, so I guess it's just more evidence of my detoxing.

One question- besides the big headache, in my past MCs I got terrible sore throats off and on throughout the whole 10 days- where I can barely speak or swallow. Is this common? They don't necessarily go away after the next morning SWF. Any tips for how to handle these when they hit? I'm a math tutor, so I need to be able to speak. :)

And another question- although I don't usually limit the salt in my diet, I have a birth defect of my kidneys and sometimes wonder if the SWF is too big of a sodium load for me to handle. Anyone else with kidney issues doing the MC? I do get a little puffy, but starting on Mon. the 5th day, I'll alternate days of SWF flushing with just taking the tea twice a day simply because of my schedule, so that'll limit the salt a little. Should I be concerned?

Hoping this is my gateway to a healthier future,
Jubilee

Good Morning Jubilee, Hang in there!:)

I encourage you to reread the MC Book Set to ensure you are well informed and follow the MC exactly as written to promote your success. Also, use the Journal on page 37 of Peter's book as a template to track your progress. 8)

I've never heard of the SWF causing water retention. Peter explains, on Page 120, the salt makes the density of the water match that of blood so the kidneys don't absorb the water and the blood doesn't absorb the salt. :D I monitored my BP every morning on my first cleanse and found this to be true. I'm reversing my HBP with cleansing, water therapy, and a raw food diet. HBP & HBP meds have compromised my kidneys, but after my first cleanse, my lab work reflected my kidneys were better. ;) So I too must be really careful with sodium. I have never had a problem with water retention due to the SWF. Are you using 2 level teaspoons of non-iodized sea salt (Page 32 of Peter's book recommends Light Grey Celtic Sea Salt) with 32 ounces of purified water? If not, then this may be the problem. I use a straw and drink it all within 5 minutes. :)

Peter's book also explains SAD and years of medication causes the level of detox symptoms one experiences. To keep weigh off, Page 40, Peter encourages a diet of at least 50% fresh raw vegetables and fruit. I really encourage you to reread the books. :D:D:D:D:D

Hello Lemonheads
MC 1
Day 16
Yesterday was a major detox day for me. My stomach felt as if I
had an alien in me wanting to come out! I hurt so bad that I
went to sleep, foolishly thinking that it would ease up. It woke me
up about 3am. Once I had my BM I felt normal again. I am so glad
that I kept going beyond the 10 days otherwise I would not have
experienced this. The only bad detox day I had my first 10 days was
on day 3. I was wondering if I had finished, although my tongue is
not pink. It's getting there though, so I will keep hanging in here.
Happy cleansing everyone! :)

Hey CStar! Here's a water therapy link http://www.alkalizeforhealth.net/Lwatertherapy.htm and a link to oil pulling http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/oil_pulling.html.

Ciao!

Thank you! Im going to try that oil pulling thing.
Its funny I haven't had terrible detox symptoms, just sleepy, cold, insomnia.......
and MAJOR blonde moments!! I figured the oil pulling was slang for something regarding poopin'...then my SWF issues. Thanks Kram! Jeez, at least it helps shed light on the process. Thank you for the board:D

Really long day ahead of me...work then more work...and yep its saturday

Great job everyone so far... keep it up! Have a good day

Thank you Tanyazl1 for your reply! I was wondering if anyone would respond since I'm new. I appreciate the encouragement- I need it.

Yes, I have the book and have read it through twice in the past 3 days. I'm using the right amount of salt (2 tsp.) and did read the explanation about matching the specific gravity of blood. I was just wondering if anyone with known kidney deficiency had noticed anything. Glad to read that you didn't. I also read that anyone with kidney disease should not do this MC which suggests that it would be too much for some people. I'm just paying close attention to my body, but since it worked well once in the past for 10 days, I'll carry on. I do have swelling in my fingers though. Hopefully it's just detoxing and will decrease.

Thanks for suggesting that I keep the journal too. It helps to do that, and I did on the other MCs which helped me to know that the headache was going to end in a day or two. That was a blessing.

Today the headache is manageable at about half the severity of yesterday and the SWF went in the right direction and I'm not nauseaus. I actually feel pretty good. Thank God. I originally was planning to do a 10 day cleanse followed by a 4 day water only fast due to the salts, but after re-reading the book, I may opt for a longer MC. We'll see. Today it sounds do-able, yesterday wasn't looking so good. :o
It's also encouraging to read about you, Treylynn, ddoll, bb, kram, lemony fresh, and others who are doing so well at 10 or more days. Bravo to you all!

mc 1, day 6:

feeling really great, tons of energy...had a great workout today....but when i went to check my weight afterwards (for the first time since starting), i was appalled to see i GAINED 2 pounds from last week...now i know the cleanse isn't about losing weight, but after reading so many posts about 10 pounds here, 15 there, i expected a little something. so, i was a little bummed about that, but i have convinced myself something must have been wrong with that scale today. i'll try again tomorrow to make sure all the settings were right. =)

i am so excited to be at day 6, but i honestly can't wait to finish...i am dreaming of vegetable broth:D

my cravings are out of control as well. i went to the movie last night and insisted i sit on the aisle with my boyfriend next to me, so i didn't have to be next to anyone eating popcorn.:p

congrats to everyone, no matter what day you are on. i love keeping up with all of you through this board.

Hello everyone!
Today is DAY 1 of my first cleanse. My hubby has done it once before and this time we're doing it together. We're going for 10 days.

I did the SWF this morning and I just had 1 pretty normal elimination. I expected more but from reading other posts I guess I will need to add more salt (ick). We didn't do the tea last night and we probably should have.

I'm on my first lemonaide and I love it! This board is great too!
Jackie

I hope you reap all of the benefits of this cleanse. Tomorrow will be day 10 of my second completed mc. I'm planning on continuing past 10 days. What has helped me this go around is praying more, excercising more, sleeping [with the cleanse I can't fight the fact that I fall asleep earlier] and keeping very busy. It's cool you have your husband to cleanse with. You guys can encourage each other. Whatever your goals are, I hope that you reach them.

Is anyone about 75lbs overweight? I started the cleanse on Jan. 23 and am not feeling the flu-like symptoms yet. Is it because I am so overweight? Will it take a lot longer than someone, lets say, 40 pounds overweight? I am feeling like it is a waste ......HELP! Please!
I am 150 lbs overweight and it has been one of the best things I think I have done for myself in 7 years since I gained all my weight - I feel so much better and have been able to deal with all the emotional reasons that I eat and feel that once I go off the cleanse I will be incontrol. I am really looking forward to veggies, salads, fruits and nuts can't wait to start eating healthy - don't give up hope, this is your chance to do something for yourself and make a change in the positive directions to get healthy. Keep on making your lemonades - you will be successful!!

Day 27 - started out with 10 going for 30 on 1st mc -

MParks: congrats! Hope to be there myself tomorrow too!

Res: Congrats to you on your grandbaby!

As for me, tonight is my last night of my last day of my 9 day MC. I went to a party that had LOTS of yummy food, and although I was tempted, I did not give in. I drank my 5th lemonade of the day in the car and had the 6th with me (and forgot about not adding the cayenne when I made it). So when I got home tonight, I was dreading it, but was completely committed to drinking my last, very hot/cayenne-y lemonade of the cleanse. I had it in a travel bottle and poured it in a regular glass. And when I picked up the glass, the entire bottom came off and my final lemonade ended up all over my counter, my floor and myself. I have no more lemons and its 11pm, so I guess all I'm getting in today is 5 (which is a bummer, because I'm kind of hungry!). Am feeling like a complete dork - who does this happen to?????

looking forward to coming off tomorrow! Woo-hoo!

MC 1 (2/07): 9 days
MC 2 (5/07): 3 days
MC 3 (3/08): 10 days
MC 4 (8/08): 10 days

:) Hi everyone . Sorry this is kind of long but hopefully I can give some of you a smile for the day... I started last Saturday. So today Saturday was day 8. I was doing just fine and experiencing some mild headaches and of course the shivers. .. brrrrrrrrrr I have been cold. I have been using the smooth moves tea 2x morn/night. I have been reluctant to use the swf even though I did purchase the celtic light gray sea salt. Well, today I finally did it. I followed directions and did this today upon awaking. I used 1 quart of warm water and two level teaspoons of the celtic. Yuck :p but I did manage to drink it quickly. Well, almost 90 minutes later... good thing I did not have to go out ... I had no results, with the exception of a bit of tummy rumbling sounds but NO urge to go. I did have a wicked headache and nausea . However, I was stubbornly determined that this would work and also concerned that I would retain this salt and water... so Silly Me I made another picture of the stuff. Good Thing I can laugh at myself ..... Little did I know that the consumption of MORE this nauseating mix was really not necessary... uh-oh I was about to get results from the first quart ... Eeeeek ... it worked Very Well ... but now I was feeling nausea and headache from the second helping. For my impatience I gave myself what amounted to 4 hours of torture... LOL:p:D:eek::)

Well, I am very bummed and disappointed in myself. Day 5 for me and I blew it. I ate a huge donut. I gobbled it down in a second. I am suprised because yesterday with my son's b-day and making his cake and pizza ect I was fine. But I was really busy today with the kids that stayed over and running around looking at rentals for my daughter that I had only drunk one lemonade by 6pm. My stomach reacted so stongly to the food it made me vomit and THEN it must have triggered some intesinal thing cause I have cramps and diarrhea now!! :(

I guess I am back to day 1  Lesson learned: Be sure to drink your lemonade all day!!!!

Hi All,

What a beautiful day we had today!

Jubiliee, When I did my first cleanse I committed to 10 days, then 20, then I told myself I would take one day at a time. Before I knew it I had completed 40 days  Remember to drink 50% of your weight in ounces of lemonade and water. Oh, I sometimes swell if I sit too long in one place, like at the computer. Also, if I don't get enough rest in the evenings. If you are doing both, then I'm at a loss for an explanation.

Res, Congratulations!

Local 10002, I've noticed that I don't lose weight when working out, but will lose it a few days after the workout. I have also noticed that if I don't move around during the day, I gain about .5 lbs. So this was a wake-up call about exercise for me. Remember muscle weighs more than fat. Since you are craving, it doesn't sound like you should be ending your fast in the near future. Try hanging in past the cravings. Remember they are detox symptoms. Love them detox symptoms:D

Aabeeda, OMG  Lesson learned. All BMs come to those who wait. 8) To help your BMs along, remember to drink 50% of your weight in ounces of lemonade and water. :) If you are, remember your body is in control of purging itself. Be patient with it. :D

Good nite all :)

This is my first time doing this and I am feeling great:) as of day 11. I have a question: Is there any other laxative tea I can take besides the Smooth Move (senna) . I am afraid that it may be problematic with my liver condition (lowgrade HCV) as I read a document on the HCV aware site that said senna depletes your electrolytes and may lead to cardiac arythmia.
HCV Supplements to avoid:
So Im wondering if I can use anything else. The first 2 nights I tried it and it made me cramp pretty badly and then the 3rd day I felt really ugly and very very very thirsty. That was kinda scary and I realized that it had depleted my electrolytes.
So I have just been using the SWF for the past 7 days in the morning.
Tonight I am trying a weaker brew of the tea to see if I can handle a half cup of it without a repeat of the 3rd day event.
But on the positive side, my energy is very good. I have to make myself drink 6 portions of lemonade although I drink 3 liter or more of water.
I also seem to losing 3 lbs at night! I weighed myself on night 8 before sleeping and was 196 then the next morning I was 193.5 and then the next morning I was 190!
I think I will go to day 14 and then start my slow road to vegetable broth and on day 4 of my return Ill try to eat a few of the vegetables in the soup.
Thanks for your support and I hope you can answer my question.

Day 8
Put in an extra 1/4 tsp on the salt water today and am going like a normal salt water flush. During the week I can only do the tea, not enough time in the day for commuting to work and sitting around a toilet. I do think the flush is better but can only do that on weekends. My friends around me are non-believers.

It is superbowl Sunday. There is going to be a ton of drink and food around and I will be a little bummed not partaking. I'm definately one of those who emotionally enjoys food.

I started the fast because I had put on a few too many inches over the holidays. I tried eating the veggies and soup to cut back but still seemed to find the candy jar daily. For some reason on the master cleanse I can say no to everything but when I am just trying to cut back the will power is weaker. I do love how this cleanse works and feel it gives me a fresh start.

I've done a few of them. The longest being 21 days. Day 19 of that round was rough with an overall feeling of weakness. I'm not sure how long I'm going to do this one. I'm thinking 14-16 days but am not sure. We'll see how the week goes.

I'm glad so many posted to the board. It is nice to know others are doing it since my immediate friend group just thinks I'm crazy. ;)

Hi there!

I'm on day 2 of my first MC. I experienced awfull headaches from around 7pm yesterday after I exercised so have takent things more easily today. I did notice that the headache did go after I had comleted the SWF this morning. Which was of great relief to me!!

I've found I have cravings tonight but am putting them down to the fact that my children are back from their dad's house & eating lots! ha ha I've had 5 lemonades tonday so plan to have another one & large glass of water then tea then bed time! I'm just trying to keep busy & out of the kitchen lol I find it easier that I don't have a partner to cook for I must admit!!

I do have a question though for those who have done the clense before, is it usual that you gain the weight back afterwards? I lost 12 & half stone through rosemary conley & have gained over winter holiday & christmas & would like to loose. I will be going on a low fat, diat afterwards 1200 cals per day for the frist 2 weeks then 1500 cals a day after that. Should I perhaps go longer than the ten days to loose more weight??

I was quite suprised to ahve lost 7lbs just since yesterday - is that usual?

Many Thanks :)

Hello fellow cleansers! I am on day 7 and I just realised that I need to drink more water while I'm doing this. I woke up with a headache so I went back to sleep. When I woke back up I decided to do some research and I found some information about drinking a glass of water between every lemonade drink. I haven't been drinking that much water, so I am going to start. I did the MC for the first time last year in May, and I do not remember it being so difficult! :eek:This time I am having wicked cravings and much more doubt that I can actually make it to the end. The first few days, I had intense feelings of irritation and dissatisfaction. I'm glad there are so many others out there participation in an act of self love. Thank you everyone! ;)

Hello, I am new as well. I am on the 6th day of my cleanse. I am disappointed so far in the weight loss. I follow it to the letter. I cut down on the maple syrup like the book suggested for weight loss. I have at least 12 drinks per day. Take the nasty salt water every morning and tea morning and night. I have lost only 2 pounds with nothing to eat in 6 days. Is this normal. I have heard people loosing 10 to 20 pounds or more. Is the maple syrup to many calories. Also mine is grade A dark amber. I don't beleive there is a difference between that and grade B other than quality.........true?
My eliminations are just clear bright yellow. No more mucousy looking (sorry for the visual yuk) anything..........Is "running clear" right............I really thought i would loose more weight by now.........can you tell me if I am doing something wrong?
THank You April

Hi everybody. Day 10 for me and I'm making it my last day on the cleanse. I do plan to do it again in April. I'm wondering how many of us are heading out to Super Bowl parties where there will be loads of tasty food and drink. I am. I know I won't partake - I've read too many posts about what happens when you do. But it isn't going to make the last day any easier. I'm just going to try to keep in mind all of the junk I am NOT putting into my body that I surely otherwise would have if not for this cleanse. I know I will be a much more concious and conscientious eater as a result of this cleanse. Good night and good luck!

On day 5...I seemed to have stalled on the weight loss so thats frustrating. Im hoping its just means detox, but been depressed and emotional yesterday and today. I don't want to do much of anything, and I've just been living vicariously through my TV....its pathetic. Its such a nice day out, Im making myself go for a little walk at least. I hope tomorrow goes better. I get annoyed at my lack of motivation to excercise on the cleanse, I bike to work, and live in a city so I am walking, but, It seems to take me a few days, and Im usually so much more active. errrrgggghhhhhh:mad:

Today is the end of Day 30. I felt wonderful , energetic, very aware, and even more selfless. My tongue is starting to get so much cleaner. Today was a weigh in day and I am now 200lbs, so I am down 40 pounds. If anyone is struggling... please know it took a couple attempts for me to accomplish this. As my friend always reminds me: Nothing beats a fail like a try. Many Blessings to all.:)

First MC, Day 4 just started

SWF the first day was horrible to get through, but haven't had any problems with it since then.

Been going to bed earlier than normal and have woken up at 3 AM every night - and then straight back to sleep again.

Feeling rested when I wake up instead of my usual tiredness.

I'm feeling a bit cold at times - but don't know if this is because of the cold weather we have at the moment or if it's due to the MC.

My psoriasis seems to be more dry, but less flaky than usual - anybody have any experience of what effect the MC has on Psoriasis?

Hi finallyfree,

That's a fantastic result from your detox!!

I was wondering if you could tell me how many lemonades you had a day & how much maple syrup you had in each?

The reason being obviously that that is a fantastic weight loss!! But also that as I am used to follwing Rosemary Conley ( who says you need cals or you body goes into starvation mode, i'd usually do a kick start of 1200 cals for two weeks then move to 1500 cals a day all low fat - which is less that 5% fat per 100g of product).

So! I was thinking as maple syrup is actually low fat, just high cals I could still follow what she's said but just by having the lemonades instead of low fat food obviously.

So first 2 weeks 1200 cals of the MS in drinks per day then if I manage to go longer up it to 1500 cals. I was a little confused though as when i looked at the leamon detox web site I noticed that they say only one teaspoof MS in your drink?? even if you were having 12 of those a day you wouldn't even reach 1200 cals?

I'm just concious of the efforts I'm making & don't wantthe weht to go back on after, which I think will if I don;t have enough cals.

Sorry that was quite long! lol Hope you know what I mean!!

any others that can help with my q's too

Thanks Gillian:)

MC 2 Day 22
Good Morning Everyone! :) Hope everyone survived all the tempting super bowl parties yesterday! :)

Yesterday was a great day. I felt wonderful! I did feel a little queasy for awhile after taking an epsom salt bath, but other than that, I was super motivated, happy, energetic, etc. :) My hubby did not do so well....Yesterday was his day 2....he was curled up on the couch and miserable sick with terrible headaches. But he is still hanging in here! ;)

Congratulations finallyfree!!!! 30 days is AMAZING!!!! :D YOU ROCK!!! :D How long are you going for? You are doing an awesome job!! Keep up the good work! :)

Congratulations ddohl2 on reaching your 10 days!!! I'm sooooo jealous you are starting OJ today while I'm sitting here chugging down my SWF!!! Good job!!! :D

betsy inferno ~ Day 7 is typically a detox day, so that may explain your headache also. Hope you are feeling better today! :)

eSlicer ~ How many days are you going for this time? You're doing a great job! I agree, this website keeps me going! It really helps to keep you motivated and on track!

Hi, I'm new to the discussion, and am on day 1 of my first cleanse ever!

Thanks, and good luck to everyone on the cleanse!

TiggerBaby - Thanks! I am enjoying the OJ, and if it makes you feel any better...I still went ahead did the SWF again this a.m. to get rid of all the toxins from my last day on the cleanse. You are doing great!! Day 22, WOW! I feel for your husband. I was there on day 2, too. I'll be back again in April or May for at least another 10 day cleanse. See you on the After the Cleanse board in 8 days!!!

Day 8
15lbs--129lbs

I have given up...on the SWF--everytime i drink this, even with 2.5tsp of salt, i still get nothing after, and i am concerend about all this salt in my system.
so i will just double bag the tea mornin and nite, this seems to work good, have had regular movements now,

I was really concerend about the weekend, and how i would do on this, but it all went good,
LAST NITE HOWEVER WAS BRUTES!!! All i wanted was a beeer...it was superbowl, kids were having pizza , and i really really really wanted a beer, much more than the glasses of wine i was craving earlier days.

Oh yah, i forgot, i baked a cake yesterday, now lemon heads, me baking a cake is about as likely to happen as elmo Live, will come to life at the dinner table to eat the 2yr olds veggie.
Not to mention the kids bless their hearts, were absolutely stunned that mummy was baking a cake,
this is how the conversation went.

16yrold--Mum what are you doing?
me--baking a cake,
16yrold--no serously what are you doing?
me--seriously baking a cake
16yr old--Legit?
me--ya dude legit...
16 yr old--Yo, tay, come see what mum is doin in the kitchen,
13 yrold--why?
16--dude she's baking a cake, for real
now out from the land of wii comes the 7yr old king--GET out,, and it actually smellls good.
now all four in the kitchen, marvelling that mum can actually bake a cake,

7yrold--DAAAAAAAAAAAAD--COME see what mum is doing, shes baking a cake, and it actually smells good

and were very apprehensive to try it, but when they finally go the first forkfull down, they admitted that it was delicous, --smartasses.....

I am feeling AMAZING, i am in a good mood, i sleep great, i get up at 4am to do my workouts and i feel full of energy, i however am ready for bed before the youngest one is, which is a wee bit of a problem, and this of course is a quite a joke for the other three kids, and i think they might be planning a hostile take over, when i fall asleep with the wee one.

Hope you all have a great day,

That is incorrect. The actual recipe for the lemonade is: 2 TABLESPOONS LEMON JUICE, 2 TABLESPOONS MAPLE SYRUP (ORGANIC GRADE B), 1/10 TEASPOON CAYENNE PEPPER, 1 CUP WATER. I don't have Mr.Glickman's book with me because my husband is reading it at work, but I just looked in the MC book by Stanley Burroughs and he said that if you are looking to reduce your weight that 6 glasses of lemonade is all you'd need in a day.(Page 20) (You can drink up to 12 a day) You should really get one of the books by either Peter Glickman or Stanley Burroughs. They are very informative and I found mine at the health food store. Hope this helps.

Hi, This is my 1st MC, I'm on day 3! Day 1 went very well, except I put way too much pepper in my lemonade so it was very hot, but I managed to drink it all day with a few screams  in between glasses. Day 2 was very hard, I guess it was my fault, I did not drink the required water, just the lemonade. By mid afternoon I had a very bad headache for the rest of the evening on into the night. After waking up around 2:00am to go to the bathroom I felt a little better. This morning I felt just a twinge of a headache after the SWF. I don't want to go through that again, so water, water, water!

Thanks, and good luck to everyone on the cleanse!

I think I remember someone else asking this before and was told that it was ok as long as the filter took out the flouride in the water....Also someone has asked if they could use a brita water filter thing and they were told it was ok.....but I'm not sure if that was just someone's opinion or if that answer came from a moderator.....I also have filtered water, but I chose to get the spring water just in case. You can buy it in gallon jugs and it's not too awful expensive if you can do that.

Hi everyone - Day 4 here of MC 6 and doing well. Yesterday morning felt like I was seriously going to die but read the board, cut back on my steeping of the senna tea last night and feeling great this morning. My tongue hasn't had the coating/film that it usually has when I'm cleansing but I'm going to continue through Day 10. I'm sure it will show up and if not, it's just nice to detox anyway. Looking forward to getting over the hump of Day 5 tomorrow. It's all good and we're supposed to have sun this week in Seattle. Yippee! Keep squeezin' all and have a great day! :)

Don't Worry about this Small Mis-hap. And It is great that you fell But then Got right back up and brushed yourself Off. We ALL have good days and bad days. You WILL make it this time, and atleast now you know your Trigger moments with Food. Just remember to Chug your Lemonade when Those Evil Cravings Attack..Good Luck!!! I will be Pulling for you .

About the water: Burroughs says to use Spring water but if you don't have it, can't afford it, it's better to use filtered water than not do the cleanse at all.

I'm sorry I haven't been here and not sure if any of you caught the news but I'm a first time Grandma since Friday and life has been pleasantly turned upside down. :)

Hey all!
I'm on Day 8 of what I think will be 14... Feeling great, no adverse side effects at all! I managed to make it through SuperBowl Sunday without nachos or beer or pizza... That's a first! :)
I do have this unbelievable craving for pasta. haha I love to cook, especially when I have a new recipe in mind (I tend to make things up on my own as I'm vegan and I'm always trying to make a regular meat and cheese recipe with vegan alternatives). So my next creation will be spinach and mushroom stuffed shells with herb "ricotta"... See!? Doesn't that sound awesome! I'm going to have to muster up some serious will power to keep from baking that and eating all of it on Day 16. ;) Anyway, looks like most everyone else on here is doing well also.
Best to all!

Hi all,
I am on day 1 of my second cleanse. I haven't been able to track down Peter Glickman's book, but I have read Stanley Burroughs' book as well as Tom Woloshyn's (although he had some good information and tips, I didn't particularily like his book). Anyways, I'm curious to know if anyone has ever tried doing the SWF at night? Can this be done? Does it make a difference if it is done in the morning or at night? The reason I'm asking is I can't do the SWF in the morning because of my work schedule and the driving time involved, I can't always be close to a bathroom. The laxative tea I got from the health food store also says it should not be taken for longer than a week, as with all laxatives I have found. So I'm wondering if I could reverse the process and drink the tea in the morning and SWF at night?

Hi Lemoneater1 ~ You are soooo lucky on the 21 lbs weight loss!!! Way to go! I've lost 14 lbs now. Funny how we are on the same day and have such different results! I've not had any solid BM's this entire cleanse. I am noticing a decrease in waste also. I have a bunch of dark "flakes" that are eliminated every morning, sometimes a lot, sometimes not as much. Yesterday was a lot. They are getting darker though now...(deeper layer maybe?? I don't know) And sometimes the yellow is super dark yellow, other times light yellow. Today was super dark yellow...I think that's bile from liver??? I know I read it somewhere, but I forget now. Anyways, now that we've totally grossed out the entire board...LOL Hope everyone is having a good day! How many days you planning on? I'm going to end on 30...do you know if we have to ease back into eating even longer than the 4 days? Or can I be on the same OJ/veggie broth schedule as my hubby? (He will complete 10 days)

During my Last Cleanse, I had Oj for 3 days then had a salad for dinner the 4th day, and everything was fine. Test your stomach to see how it feels once you have the oj (after the third or fourth day), then Try some watermelon. This should be okay...then you can try to eat salads, fruit etc.. I normally did not eat Meat for atleast 2-3 weeks after, But that is just me. I plan to go RAW for 30 days once I am done with this cleanse in another week or so. ANd Regarding the Toilet Time Ritual after I am done I hate to Look back in the Toilet sometimes, because it is getting a little Gross..BUT Better Out than In as they say...take care

Evening of day 3 & I feel great :) although I jsut realised reading through the posts that I'm drinking the wrong water?! I've just been using tap water then boiling it to have a hot drink or letting it cool & chilling it in the fridge for a cold lemoneade. I'm in England - not sure if our water is different than in america?? sorryy I sound a bit clueless!

Thank you Tiggerbaby, I've not changed to 6 drinks a day using 2 spoonfulls of MS in each. However I read somewhere else that you should up your drinks if you want to loose more weight I'm all confuzzled! tee hee

Hi Fellow Lemonheads!

This is D7 of MC10 and all is well. Wanted a beer or 2 watching Super Bowl last night, but just settled for my lemon-aid, had to resist that craving!! I am down 4 pounds so far which is common for me, when I start I usually lose 2 or 3 pounds the first couple of days then 1/2 pound for a couple of days and don't lose any for a few days and sometimes gain a pound or 2 then in the last couple of days of a 10 cleanse drop 4 or 5 pounds. We are all different in how our weight comes off.

I went out this morning and picked some more lemons, one of my friends has a few fruit trees in their back yard and this one tree has hundreds of lemons on it. I picked about 25 and it didn't even make a dent. I feel very fortunate to be able to do this, fresh organic lemons and the price is right too!!

I started a yoga class in January, called Bikram Yoga, it is an amazing 90 minute hatha yoga class done in a heated room, 104*F with 40% humidity. You certainly sweat a lot, but what a great way to get rid of some toxins plus get good and warm for awhile. I find it very hard to keep warm during the cleanse, I keep jacking the heat up and putting on more layers of clothes all the time.

Glad to see so many people going past 10 days, good for you!!!! Also kudos to everyone that is venturing along this magical undertaking of lemons, SWF's, butt-pee, lax tea etc, etc. The final destination is worth the effort and rough at times journey.

Hope you are having a good day and a better one tomorrow!!!

It is Day 11 for me. So far I've lost 10 pounds. I'm not sure how long I will go but as of right now I plan to cleanse until I reach 20 days. I guess I'll take it 10 days at a time :).

I am experiancing a tough day as i have a migrane which i know from my cleanse happened the 2nd day as well. probably from coffee withdrawels. My wife still nurses my 2 year old. anyone know if that is an issue? We keepm getting mixed thoughts on it but if someone truly knows the answer i would appreciate your thoughts.

i think i suprised a few co-workers on my return to work after the weekend - some couldn't believe i really stuck with the mc, especially with the superbowl and all. i am super proud of myself and love receiving compliments on having such great strength and willpower. it feels great to know i am going to achieve my first attempt at the master cleanse. there is no doubt i will not make it to day 10.

nothing really out of the ordinary today. got a little cranky at work, but it passed after time (and some lemonade) :D

had to go to whole foods for some more syrup and lemons and actually browsed the aisles without losing it...and bought some super sweet frozen corn for my vegetable soup coming up in a few days!

keep up the good work everyone! :D

Hi, so I'm currently on day 3 of my first MC. Both my wife (also a first timer) and I are doing it for 14 days. Last night and today have been the most difficult so far, I've been very bloated, but from everything I've read it's supposed to get better from here. I would say the toughest part for me is when I mave to make food for our 3 year old son (I have to stop myself from licking my fingers). I also was also finding the cayenne a bit to hot for me so I switched to capsules yesterday :)

I will post an update in a couple of days.

Hello lemon lovers,

I'm on day 5 and doing pretty well. The second and third have been the roughest so far. I had to use the tea twice yesterday and today instead of the SWF, but had no eliminations at all. I'll do the SWF tomorrow and hopefully get things moving again. Oh, and my tongue is not just white, but almost grey, and seriously furry looking. It's fascinating in a gross sort of way. Even my teeth feel coated with slime and I keep brushing throughout the day. Anyone else notice this????

I'm already noticing my sense of smell is much keener, and it's usually pretty strong to start with. Tonight my family ate homemade fried rice with fresh mushrooms for dinner, and it smelled heavenly! :o I took my lemonade and went into another room. I've not had cravings or even hunger, but things sure look and smell good!

I can't imagine what it's like to go 30 days, let alone 40! Bravo.:D

Squeezing and sipping,
Jubilee

Hello my lemon scented friends,
MC2 Day15
Glad to have made it here to day 15. Today was a very good day, but I must say I miss not having as much physical energy as I do when I am not on the cleanse. Minor, but kinda annoying to "get tuckered out" so much faster, when there is work to do. I have gotten some stomach aches the last couple of days for the first time since starting the cleanse, but no other detox symptems really. My tongue is maybe getting better, or to put it another way, it is still coated with gunk. I have lost 18lbs so far, which is making me happy! I can really see the difference in my body and face. Well the parts of my face not covered in beard. Wisconsin winters are cold and you need all the face insulation you can get, which results in a lot of "rugged" mountain men walking around this time of year:D.
I have not noticed increased mental clarity, but I do have more time since I am not occupied with cooking or planning to cook. I cook from scratch more often than not, and I am impressed by just how much time this cleanse frees up. Glad to be here and ONWARD TO DAY 21!
Thanks all,
Lemonyfresh

Good Morning :)

I've made it to day 4 of my first clense & am glad to report i'm feeling ok! I'm managing the SWF as I put it in 2 pint glasses and drink with a straw, licking a lemon in between & brushing my teeth before hand :D

I'm finding the lax tea fine at it's senna & mint so I guess it's calming my tummy every night too.

Ooh! I'm also down 10lbs already which is a bonus! I'd lost 7lbs on morning of 2nd day then nothing yesterday then I'd dropped another 3lbs when I weighed this morning on day 4. I hope it doesn't go back afterwards

Thanks for the advice I've upped to 2 tablespoons of MS per glass & am fitting in 6 glasses of lemonade per day.

It's been about half hour since I SWF & I'm having tummy pains but they'll pass I'm sure.

Not as tempted with my kids food now ha ha but I'm noticing how much more time I have on my hands not eating! place is kept lovely & tidy as I'm contantly cleaning ha ha & I'm having earlier nights as I'm not sitting eating & watching tv!

Have a good day everyone :)

MC 2 Day 23
Good Morning MCers!!!! :)
Yesterday was a weird day, woke up feeling fine, by mid-morning I felt HORRIBLE, then by evening I was ok, but not great. Yesterday was day 3 for hubby. He did ok. Really sick in morning, but that passed. The rest of the day was ok for him. Tired, not feeling so well, but not as bad as day 2!!!!

Hi Lemonyfresh :) You are doing great!!! 15 days!!! yay!!!! :D

Can't write much this morning! I have a bunch to do today! Hope everyone has a great day!!! :)

I am sooo excited that I made it this far. I was planning on going 30 days, but 20
will have to do. I am so ready for a salad. Tomorrow is my last day, so I am trying
to prepare. HELP!! Will I need to drink my Smoove Move on the last
night and have the SWF the next morning or will I be free of both?
Actually the Smoove Move was worse to me than the SWF.
Happy cleansing!!:D

Day 7....So very mysterious I haven't lost anything in numbers on the scale since day 3! weird huh, but I can tell I've slimmed down. Maybe its bloating and will come off later. Very strange, because when I did the 8 day cleanse earlier this month I was losing a pound a day, but I also made the mistake of SWFs 2x a day. hmmm I do feel better however, more energy, and better sleep patterns, I was having awful insomnia before. I have also been trying to not focus so much on what day it is and that has bn helping the process. Going for 14 days so yay I'm halfway!
Hope everyone is doing well

Morning everyone! Day 5 and I'm so excited to be half way. Feeling good and love the ease of the meal planning, especially as I was racing out the door this morning. :) On another note, I took a good healthy inhale of some chocolate fudge yesterday...didn't make me crave it but boy was it nice. I need to figure out how to make that satisfying when I'm not cleansing. Will check in later...have a great day everyone and stay strong.

To those of you thinking of going Further..Trust me it IS POSSIBLE> It Actually Becomes a Routine at this Point, and Your Body just remains on "Auto Pilot" ,\..so to speak. I actually GAINED 3 pounds ;which is SLightly Irritating, But I assume I need to Cut Down on the Maple Syrup. I may Up the Cayenne A Little to get that Burn. Anyway GREAT JOB to all making it to 10 DAYS for the 1ST Time, that is AWESOME> Perhaps you can Encourage Other Friends and Family in Your Circle to Give it a Try. Anyway, I will continue to Browse the Boards, and KEEP GOING ALL, This is Just the Beginning to the Journey of Cleansing. :)

DAY 9--

feeling Splendiferous,
double bagging the tea at night and in morning is difinately better for me than the SWF.

I have a question about this tea stuff, i know with laxatives, they say that your bowels become dependant on them and have a hard time going on their own once again after usage stops. Is this the case with the tea? I know the tea is a laxative tea, and is herbal, but does contain senna, which is also in laxatives.

I have hard enough time going as it is, and i am worried that once my 20 days are over, my bowels wont know what to do anymore.

So, i finally am having very very very watery BMs...funny story here.

Last night after work, i went to walmart with the kids, had to replace all the odd pairs of sock that my dryer eats.. All my kids have 12 mismatched socks, that my lemonheaded friends equautes to 48 missing socks, u would think the dryer woudl be full by now...maybe i should put it on the MC.

anyway, in mid fight with the 2yr old over why i am not going to buy another set of dora socks, i felt the insane urge to go to the bathroom.

I NEVER sit down on any other toilet other than my own, to say i squat is an understatement, i almost stand,

so i leave the remaining three to pick out socks and take the 2yr old with me,
we get into the stall, and i must add it is peak time at wally world, 6 30pm, its pretty full in the bathroom,
i flush the toilet so not to offend anyone with the sound, and go, again almost standing.

I feel relief, until i hear my wonderul, adorable litlle
girl yell out, full volume,
MUMMY you POOED on the toilet seat, ewwwwww your gross mummy, clean it up,
it gets better, not only does the entire population of walmart womens washroom hear it, but while in mid panic of Oh my god, now i have to touch the toilet seat to clean it off, i am scurrying for toited paper, and i havent noticed my adorable cute little girl has bolted out of the stall, door wide open, i look in horror as i swear 50 (ok maybe 5) people stare at me, pants down,
I wanted to die!
what else to do other than to apolagize, and annonce i am on the MC AKA beyonce diet, and should you choose to do it, i dont recommend taking your two year old in the bathroom with you at a public place. i sincerely apologize, however i am 16lbs lighter in 8 days, and the sight 8 days ago would have been much worse.
i dont htink anyone was amused.

Thank god for cell phones, i called the remaining troops, told them we have to abort the mission, and to meet me back at the van.

MC2 Day 16 of 21+
Good morning my lemon scented friends,
Wow, SWheeler...that's a story!
Cstar: during my first cleanse there was a 3 day stretch where I actually gained a pound, but I ended up losing 13lbs over all for the 10 day cleanse. That's when I changed to my current tactic of jumping on the scale every 5 days instead of every day. I did not like seeing that scale go up!
Hi Tiggerbaby! Congrats for having the guts to tack on the extra 10. I hope it is easier now that your husband is on board. Thanks for the "atta boy". At this point I'm just sorta putting my head down and hoping when I look up its day 21 :D Then I can give a sigh of relief and see if I have it in me to push on even further. You guys are all an inspiration!

Hi all, Today is my 1st day and I've never done anything like this. i'm so thankful for this site as it's not noon yet and I can't imagine getting through it without the support. I am a caffeine addict and surprised I'm doing okay for now. I'm freezing and would love to crunch on something but so far so good. I did the SWF this morning (yuck) and nothing happened but maybe tomorrow. I have a feeling tonight will be the toughest as I have a big hubby and 2 little ones to cook for. I'll make sure I save a glass of lemonade to drink when they're eating. I'm looking ahead to my big tennis match on day 5 and wondering how I will that morning. Will I have enough energy to play or is that typically a lousy day. Thanks to you all for sharing your stories and support. I'm sure the first weekend is the toughest but knowing you all have done it makes me strong and determined. I have vacation in 8 weeks and I want to look and feel great.

Hi all,
I am on day 1 of my second cleanse.

Hi there,
I'm no expert by any means, but my understanding is that the laxative is safe to use for an extended amount of time if it is used for such purposes as the Master Cleanse. It is not recommended for use on a regular basis with a normal diet.
Regarding your salt water flush schedule issue: I set my alarm for 1-2 hours before I usually get up in the morning, drink the salt water then, and go back to bed. When it's time to get up, you're ready to "go", and you should be able to continue your day as usual. I personally tend to make a few trips to the bathroom throughout the morning, to eliminate all of the salt water, but if you're up and around the house for an hour or so before you have to leave, you should be fine by the time you have to get in the car. :)
I don't think the system works the same way if you reverse the process. The other alternative is to drink the tea both at night and in the morning, and skip the salt water all together.
Best of luck!
:)

Hi!
I am on day 2 and doing well. Thank you so much for all of the information. I was wondering about brushing my teeth with a small amount of water with peppermint essential oil (one drop) I have tried it, and it helps out with fresh breath for a few minutes anyway. I don't drink the water or anything and just spit when I am done. Is this o.k. to do?

MC3 day 19

Crusin' along. Started with 10 in my sights but am going to 21 now. I am getting a lot of benefits and would love to go more but I think that I'll have to settle for 21. I am just not prepared to go 40 yet.
It's funny. I both love and ( hate is too strong) dislike this cleanse. It makes sense to me on a physical and emotional level all the while pushing up against "normal" activity.
I like how my body feels but at the same time I know that this cleanse is a temporary state, you cant stay forever and I don't want to be a raw foodist or a vegan. I am trying to find the ultimate balance in my life.
I will say that this cleanse has taught me that no matter how hard this can be for me, I simply have to have it in my life from time to time. It feels good to be diciplined and strong. It feels good to "feel" my body and how it reacts to this.
I still have gunk on my tongue though it has cleared a lot. *** interesting thing though, I had a lot of clearing on my tongue and was feeling really good and then it all seemed to backslide a bit. I guess it may be just be a new level of detox.

Anyway good for all of us right??? Keep it up
People are always telling me that there is no way they could do this. That's a bunch of crap. I think about what Yoda tells Luke when Luks says that he just cant believe that he would be able to lift his ship. Yoda says " that is why you fail" I realize that not everyone is a Star Wars fan ( weirdos) but what he says is sound. If this CLEANSE teaches us anything, it is that we can do whatever we set our minds to.

Looking forward to day 21 and afraid to leave the safety of this wonderful experience

Hey All,
I havent logged in til now. So far so good. The first 4 or 5 days were splendid. It was weird. Its been a little rougher since but overall not bad. The SWF is not nearly as horrible as it used to be. I guess my body is acclimated to that taste now. Hang in there all. You can do it.

Congratulations BB in BNA!

If you want to complete day 20, then I think you already know the answer. SM tea the evening of day 19, SWF morning of day 20, followed by evening SM. 8) Day 21 you are free of the SWF and SM tea. :D Day 21 & 22 you will transition on fresh squeezed OJ or grapefruit juice.:p The morning of day 23 fresh squezzed OJ or GF juice. Lunch salad for vegans or vegetarians and Borrough's vegetable soup for former meat eaters. :D:D:D:D

Remember to drink lots of water...a minimum of 50% of your weight in ounces to keep BMs moving freely...If they aren't increase your intake of H20. See you on the 'after the cleanse thread' !?!

Sorry to hear about your experience...How embarrassing.:o Base upon your story I will take the SWF over double baggin' any day. ;) Now to answer your question. I'm just finishing my 4th day!! YIpeeeee. The 2nd and 3rd day was very challenging however I made it through without cheating. Today during our weekly meeting at work there were yummy foods laid out on the table from Ceasar Salad, Lasagna, Sweets and many other dishes as well. I sat there with my Lemonade drink and did not even take a nibble! That in itself makes me very proud of myself. The past year I have not taken good care of myself and have completely abused my body by filling up with unhealthy foods, snacks and drinks. Today I sat there and looked at all the foods on the table and watched others eat and enjoy their meal and I honestly didn't miss the taste because I knew I was doing a GOOD thing for my body, mind and soul.
I'm 43 years young, 5 ft 2 inches tall and started at 142 pounds...this morning I was at 135 pounds! Just a few short years ago I was at 120 pounds and a size 2. Bike riding 25 to 30 miles a week, running 10 miles a week and a red belt in tae kwon do going 3 to 4 times a week...really healthy and active, taking good care of myself. and NOW I'm ready to love myself and take good care of myself once again...

Nothing new to report, and thank goodness no more horror\comedy stories to tell.
Rather boring day yesterday.
Still feeling good, it is amazing how the cravings to go away, i actually watched the kids chow down on chips during american idol, and i was quite content to sip away on my tea.

I am still amazed that i am waking up on my own at 4am, and am full of energy to do my workouts, still totally bagged though by 8pm, barely made it to the end of idol last night.

Big squeezes for everyone, and hopin you have the best day possible!

Today is day 2 and I wish i could say that I felt great. Just feel like I'm in a fog but I made it. However, I was not able to get all of the juice down yesterday. I had herbal tea and lots of water in between and when I got home from work - just couldn't drink anymore. Did the SW this morning - nothing happened and am ready for my first glass of juice. Is it better to do it and not drink all the juice than not at all? I admire all of you who have stuck to this as I don't know how you do it. No coffee, no food, nothing?? When do you start getting energy as I really want to work out as I want to lose weight but I feel tired.

Morning everyone! Day 6...it's all downhill now. Feeling really great and like I could go longer than 10 but not this time. Had a little bit of headache late yesterday afternoon but my energy has been really good.

Soccermomof3- welcome and hang in there. Days 1-3 are definitely the hardest. If you read the detox stages in Detox thread, it lists them all out. By your tennis match, hopefully you'll be feeling good. I've been working out regularly and have normal energy, but I time my drinks so that I have energy (1-2 before and have one ready when I'm done). You might play around with that.

swheeler - congrats on getting to your halfway point. Your story was great and I felt for you too.

Have a great day everyone!

Day 3 like I said before, and I felt sooo bad about cheating with that 1/2 cup of coffee, that I followed it by my 2nd cup of cleansing tea less than an hr ago.... And OH BOY:eek:, I am soooooo confident that the java is out of my system!!
My TRUE test is tomorrow night. I have a meeting with the the group of fellow motorcyclists I roll with. The meeting is at a restaurant. I already got my bottle-0-juice sitting in the fridge for the occasion. :D ((Feelin'Good))

OhBoy, I hear ya. A buddy 1st told me of the lemonade thing almost 2 years ago. I was intrigued, but only had the sea salt (no lemons OR syrup) in my house and decided to try it myself. No prepping at all (bad idea)
I also misunderstood and added 2 tablespoons to a quart of very warm water...
although I was able (barely) to keep it down, I was freakin amazed what happened about 30min later.

My stomach started gurgling, then it started REALLY makin noises that i NEVER heard coming from inside a body...Then it was like the LondonSymphonyOrchestra was tuning up inside me:eek:
I was sooooo greatful that I had on sweat pants on (and not jeans with a belt) I almost fainted from what went on next. I really thought my body was getting rid of things that I still needed.
So with hind sight, getting rid of the SWF the way you did, was probably EZer

Good Morning, DAY 24 and Everything is Going well.. I cannot complain, No major Detox symptoms to Report. I did have an Interesting Bowel Movement after the NIghtly Tea, I think some of the Gunk from my small Intestine was Passed. Because it was Really Skinny and shaped like a Long letter "S" or kind of like a snake. It was Really Bizarre and Disgusting, But I am glad I got rid of it...I am STILL AMAZED that I am passing SOLIDS after so long... I will Go 30 Days for now, and then switch to the OJ for 4 days, then transition to RAW. I AM READY TO EAT!!!! I MISS FOOD SO MUCH, IT IS CRAZY. My Nose can Smell food Miles away, and it is Very Interesting. Keep Going all!!!

MC 2 Day 24
Good Morning Fellow Lemon Lovers!!! :) Hope everyone is having a very productive morning!!! ;) Glad to see all the new members starting their cleanses!!! That's awesome!!! Welcome to all of you!!! :) Keep us posted on your progress!!! And congratulations on making a wonderful choice to improve your health!!! You can do this!!! :D

Yesterday was a busy day. I felt great all day!! And I ran around shopping and got some fun new kitchen tools to play with for all my new recipes I've been collecting! :) I can't wait to try them all!!!! :p I also had to go get some more maple syrup!! ;) Today is day 24 and I'm still feeling wonderful!! Tons of energy and very happy. I feel great!! Thinking of rearranging and "spring" cleaning my kitchen and cleaning all the cupboards out so that I'm ready to begin cooking all this new stuff!!! :p I'm warning you though.......checking out the recipes over on the raw food forum could be hazardous to your cleanse!!!! They sound delicious!!!! I can't wait!!!! :p

My hubby is on day 5 today. He is still hanging in here! He's feeling ok. Still tired and a little out of sorts but doing ok. He's been experiencing a lot of the hot toxic exits so he's definitely making some progress in the detox!!!! He's having to get up super super early in order to get the SWF done before needing to leave for work and then he's taking his lemonade & water with him. He's really having to push himself to do this!!! But he IS doing it and doing great!!! :)

Hope everyone is having a great day! :) And to all of you just starting, hang in there!!! It does get easier!!! ;)

No coffee, no food, nothing?? soccermomof3 ~ I'm sorry you are having such a tough time. Hang in there! The first 3 days are the worst!! You can do this!! Yes, you definitely can not have coffee or any food...not even a breath mint or gum!!!! Actually, if you did eat some food you'd probably feel worse and get sick! So don't try that! On the cleanse your energy level will go down the first 3 days typically, but after that it should pick back up, but everyone is different. Just listen to your body and take it easy if you need too. Some days I have tons of energy and on others I just cuddle under a blanket and take it easy all day. It is very important though that you are getting in at least 6 lemonades in a day! If you aren't then you will not have energy because your body is not getting nutrients that it needs. Try to work on spacing out your lemonades every 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours and get them all in. It really will help you to feel much much better! Keep us posted! Hang in there! You are doing great! :)

When I started this cleanse I only planned on going for 10 days, but now I think I will shoot for 14 at least, I want to cleanse a little longer and lose a couple of more pounds too. I lost 1 1/2 pounds yesterday and was up 1/2 pound today, but that the way it goes for me.

MC2 DAY17
Hello my lemon scented friends,
Things are going good today, feeling fine and enjoying some sunshine. Been having food dreams and cravings for pizza, or anything with melted cheese, but if I wait they pass. I am still passing out bits of solids after the tea and swf, and so I was wondering.... how long before only clear stuff comes out? Has anyone ever gotten there? I was also wondering if anyone else has been inflicted with RSD... repetitive SQUEEZING disorder. I have some significant pain in my right hand from squeezing all this dang citrus! Man, I need to get a juicer. Well, happy, pain free squeezing everybody.

Hi everyone! I'm on day 3 - this is my 4th time fasting and my goal is to do a 10 day fast every 3 months, but I'm still unsure of some things....

MY QUESTION IS..... I hand squeeze my lemons. Is it better to leave the pulp in it or should I strain it out? I heard its better to NOT have any PULP!

AND....

I'd like to take some LIQUID VITAMINS during my fast this time. Any reason why I shouldn't?

THANK YOU for answering my questions - I tried to find the answers on this forum but there are just soooo many posts!

I'd like to take some LIQUID VITAMINS during my fast this time. Any reason why I shouldn't? Yes a couple.

1. You'll probably puke.
2. It's not on the menu
3. You won't need it for the short duration of the cleanse.
4. Your body will see it as food and digest as opposed to the whole idea of giving your digestion a break so that you can detox.

I have wanted to try the MC for about a week or two and finally pumped my self up to do it. I am VERY sensitive to anything spicy so when I saw that there is cayenne pepper in it I hesitated. Yesterday I wanted to kind of ween my self on to a strict liquid diet followed by the laxative tea. Today is my first day of my first MC. I struggled to get the whole amount of the SWF down but finally after 30 minutes I did it. I put 1/10 tsp cayenne pepper as suggested and when I tasted the lemonade mixture i gagged. It's definately the cayenne pepper. I kept trying to drink it and the longer the mixture sat the hotter it proceeded to be. I can not drink it but I am starving and very temped to eat. I dumped it out but am curious if the cleanse will work the same with no cayenne pepper. I know it's added for a reason but I don't know if I'll be able to continue with it added.

The SWF needs to be taken on a empty stomach. If you take it in the evening you will flush out any nutrition and cleansing agents still in your system. You also risk dehydrating yourself. The book says that if you can't do the SWF in the morning, substitute the tea for it.

You can do it. The first three days are the hardest. After that it gets a lot easier.

I am a mother with two children, aged four and 14 months. This is my first cleanse. I am on Day 4. It's been incredible to me to discover how much of my life evolves around food. I haven't been to the Mall in almost a week, even a walk on the beach is full of temptation. Every dinner time is the same. My kids Chicken Dinosaurs (made with real chicken breast) suddenly look like the most delicious thing on the planet. I feed my 14 months girl little snacks of carrots and crackers, cheese and turkey, even that's been hard. I'm around food all day long. I don't know how I managed to reach day 4. I have lost 5 pounds though. However my BM's were slow in coming. I did the tea only for the first two days and then on day 3 gave in to the salt water but it was awful. Adding lemon didn't help or making it warm. Nasty stuff. Anyway I drank 8 oz cup SWF and the BM was instant, I added a lot of salt, then I tried a warm cup of the SWF with lemon and NOTHING, all on an empty stomach as instructed. I do the tea morning and night. So we'll see. I've had no physical symptoms at all except a small headache which I treated with tylenol, sorry I can't function on a headache, had to be done. I also take the Cayenne Peper in a capsule first thing in the morning because the lemonade is to weird to drink otherwise. I'm drinking 65 oz of the lemondade a day and 20oz of water. Also the senna tea and now I guess that awful saltwater. I hope I make it through this. Right now I'm STARVING LIKE MARVIN. Drinking the juice evertime I feel the hunger pangs and then they go away. I'm taking my son to the movies Friday, that will be tough, we buy lots of trash for the movie, not this Friday...hope I can be strong.

Hi I am new to this cleanse as well. I am now in day 4. Last night I was sick to my stomach and had a whopping headache and thought that I might just quit as i frequently get headaches and cannot bear them when they are this bad. But I did not break the fast and this morning I feel ok but my stomach is still queasy..is that normal? oh by the way..I am very thankful for this message board, after skimming through a lot of the posts it made me feel that what I am going through is normal and will help me to just keep on plugging through. thanks again folks for your encouragement.

Tender: Unfortunately what you're experiencing IS normal but not everyone goes through it like that. It's detox and its not pretty. Make sure you're drinking "water" in between lemonades. It helps move the toxins out. Also cut back a bit on the cayenne until your stomach feels a bit better. Hang in there. :)

Day 8

Well, this cleanse is basically going better than past ones even though I was eating worse than ever going into it. Not sure why that would be so. I''m so thankful that it's not torture (well after days 2 and 3 that is). I've been leaving out most of the cayenne because I just can't get it down. I'm wondering if I'd be better off taking the capsules than not taking any. I did read the problems with taking capsules, but I'm not comparing capsules verses loose cayenne, I'm asking about capsules versus NO cayenne. Any thoughts?? Sorry I'm so weak about this but I just can not get it down.

I'm feeling sort of down today but physically fine. No reason to feel down so I guess it's the cleanse- it's a cold sunny day, and things are pretty stable in my life for the (rare) moment. Just no enthusiasm like I normally have.

I'd like to go 14 days I think (originally was thinking 10, and deep down I'd like to go 21 but need to take it a few days at a time.) I started this to jumpstart weight loss and break some addictions so I could follow my WOE. The weight loss was good at first but very slow the last 3 days (less than 1/2 pound per day), so that's one reason to continue. However having the blues tempts me to bail.

Last night I dreamed about eating a whole bunch of junky things- first time I've dreampt about food. Still no hunger or cravings, thank the Lord. No major detox symptoms really. I got a fine pimple on my face one day but it's gone. Mostly I'm just cold, and tired/down a lot of the time. Hot baths help me to get warm. It doesn't help that it's about 5 degrees outside this time of year. :-)

I'm glad to read about others having similar experiences- dreaming about food, cold, low energy- because it helps me to hang in there realizing it's normal. Thank you all for your posts. Hope mine isn't too gloomy today. Sorry if it is.

Morning everyone! Welcome to all the all the new people. It's nice to see you out there. Day 7 here and still feeling good. The water in between drinks is so helpful and I've also tried to use the drinks as more of a meal rather than sipping throughout the day. Psychologically it's helped but I actually get a feeling of fullness. Has anyone ever experienced ear popping and issues with pressure? I just got that and had it last time on Day6/7 too. I haven't seen that as a detox symptom in reading Burrough's book or the board but wanted to put it out there.

Lemonyfresh - I'm totally with you on RSD! You'd think after 5 previous cleanses I would have gotten a juicer too. :-) Way to go, btw. You're doing great.

Day one here. I did have an account here previously but i couldn't dig up my previous email address or remember my username. I haven't cleansed in about two years. This is my fourth or fifth. I've done an 8 day, a couple 10 day, and the most recent was a 13 day. I was thinking about going for either a 15 day or a 17 day. Is there a benefit from going from 15 to 17 or do i recall it is only truly beneficial in increments of 7?

This morning after my SWF i was extremely thirst for about an hour and i figured i was absorbing all of the salt b/c it was taking rather longer then usual. Thankfully everything worked out just fine.

MC2 DAY18
Good mornings my lemon scented friends,
I trust all is well in lemon land. I think I may be getting kinda used to this cleanse business. Two days ago, my goal of at least 21 days was all I could focus on, but now that it is in sight.... well, maybe 28 Days. Once you have this momentum going its kinda hard to give it up. Once you stop.. well, you stop, and the next cleanse starts at day one. And it'll take 18 days before I even get to this point again. Ah, well we will see. Has anyone ever capped of their Master Cleanse with a water fast before transitioning back to solids? Is there any danger there? Anyone else out there at day 18? Eslicer still hanging in on day 19 now? How far you going?
yy2 Sorry we share an affliction together:p, and thanks for the encouragement. 5 previous cleanses huh? Whats your longest?
Everyone, you can do it! Your body NEEDS this! And the feeling of accomplishment when you are done will be SO worth it. Self mastery.....fun times!

Hi everyone. My husband and I are starting day five today. Well, I am. Last night we took my husband to the ER for kidney stones. He had them 6 years ago so we pretty much knew. My question for all of you is now that he is on pain meds and in the hospital he is coming off the cleanse. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of how he should come off seeing that he is on hospital food diet and his stomach has been upset due to meds and empty stomach. Any response would be AWESOME. Right now he is sipping on OJ but it is bothering his stomach too.THANKS!!!!!

Greetings Fellow Lemonheads,

Day 19... and the routine continues.

Feeling light headed today. Also, my morning eliminations lately have start out as a brown, muddy cesspool. This morning I produced a solid black puddle that looked like old motor oil. Detoxing is probably ramped up a bit at the moment.

lemonyfresh: still with you and still planning on going 40 days. I've also been toying with the idea of ending this cleanse with a water fast. Something like 3 - 5 days. But then again, I was reading The Raw Food Detox Diet and Green for Life last night and found myself thinking: man, this sure sounds better way to detox than another 20+ days of tea, SWFs & LAs; and I could eat! There was that voice sneaking in again trying to find a way out. Funny how the mind can play head games with itself. Anyhow, I also find the idea of capping the cleanse with a water fast intriguing and would like to hear from anyone who has tried it before.

Congrats to everyone for making it another day! :D

Peace & Happy Cleansing... Ed

I'' vouch for what Lisah said... Its amazing how much food surrounds ones daily life.
(mostly junk food to boot) I havent been to a FastFood place since 1991, and dont miss it at all.
...UNTIL NOW...
i went to the store for 8-10 lemons and theres a BoogerKing right next door, and the smell made my stomach rumble-a-bit, but then again, the scent if the pudding/dessert aisle in the food store does the same thing...

I placed on my blinders and went right to the produce for some luscious lemons and right to the register...Was funny how walking to my truck, something hit me....

Ya know those black-n-white commercials where the ONLY thing in color is the diamond or car theyre trying to sell?... well i was in this black-n-white world walking to my truck and the only thing that caught my eye was this brightly golden french fry that must have dropped from a "ToGo" bag from BoogerKing..:p

20-30ft away and it was just sitting there, all alone "glowing" and beckoning to me. I could almost feel its warmth, I think I was even able to smell it. But then, reality struck when I felt the beginning twinge of a BM approaching:eek:
...just wanted to share...LOL:rolleyes:

purplecat77

R.B that's so funny about the french fry! There recently was a 'buy one get one free' deal at our grocery store for planters honey roasted peanuts - so the big glass jar of peanuts are sitting on two of my co-workers desks and I can't help but drool over them every time I pass it... other than that, my days are going pretty easy!

Day11

Feeling incredibly cold, no heat in my office, so that doesnt help.
having a really bad day, wicked headaches-feel sick to my stomach,

i have a question, i am experiencing somehting like dryheaves but for the bum.
I have the urge to go, and its just like dry heaving, my bowels seem to spasm but nothing major is coming out, just little trickles.. and nothing even remotely solid.

has anyone else experienced this????

Judging from what my friend told me, and he's done this every year for since 1979.. if that happens, DRINK MORE..Every trip to the BR for BM should contain(at least) fluid. Every time you lose fluids, replace it ASAP. After each BM drink at least 2pints of water within 2hrs. As far as headaches or fatigue, he would take a swig/shot of maple syrup alone, if it got bad with good results

Man I am right there with you on the light-headedness ESlicer. I went to stand up earlier and saw stars for 10 seconds. I have done water fasts a few times in the past for short durations...once for a week, and I felt like I got a lot out of them. I'm just not sure if I should water fast for a few days and then start the transition to O.J. or water fast and then back to the LA's and then to the O.J.

40 days is quite a goal. I do want to push the cleanse as far as I can go, but for some reason I can't stand thinking that far into the future. I wouldn't even be 1/2 way yet. I have to keep my goals closer in sight and inch my way along. How has your weight loss been so far ESlicer? I was down 18lbs 3 days ago and will weigh in again on day 20. Is your tongue getting better yet? I am just starting to notice a difference today.

Today is my 1st day to do the master cleanse! I'm looking forward to feeling better, thinner and healthier. I've never fasted before, but I hope the lemon and maple syrup will keep me going. While going through this, I may ask you more experienced MC for advise on how to stick with it! Glad your out there!:)

Good Evening everyone,

I'm now on day 6 of my first MC, got to admit i'm rather hungry though, still sticking with it though. I've lost 12lbs so far, nothing this morning, hping for a loss in the morning!

Been gym a few times & walking lots, not as much energy though so just listening to my body.

I have a wedding in 5 weeks so am tempted to carry it on, but also have something on Valentines weekend so that's why I thought I'd just do 10 days , i'm still umming & ahing. I've heard people say you continue loosing if you stay on a raw diet afterwards - would I get ill if I had say a chicken salad & some wine after I've broke the fast or would my body allow it?

Thanks

Gillian

DAY 25 and still hanging in there, It's really going well' Except I had a day dream about a Sandwich i ATE 10 years ago from Blimpies and it is NOT healthy in any way. I also thought about Grilled-Cheese and Frenchfries a few times ALSO. I am a little tired today and COLD..My Tongue is starting to get PINK and also it is Yellow so I believe that the Cleansing is in Full Force now..But otherwise weight is stable and Losing Lots of Inches. The Tea Pretty Much works best on me More than the SWF...I just cannot handle that SALT..it is rather Awful. Good Luck to all the lemonheads here..Keep on Going You can do it.

Seriously, Last night I dreamed about mac and cheese my highcshool bf mom used to make...random, could taste the butter and felt disgusted about what was being put into my body. Actually had those thoughts in my dream. Weird. I guess thats when u know a change is actually happening.

Day 9 here all is going ok, just weaker with workouts, but been walking a lot. Its funny that as someone else mentioned it does become part of your lifestyle. I sat with one of my friends while she ate lunch, I was ok, but the sense of smell was crazy, the vinegar in her salad drs was tickling my nose. Over the hump now. Keep squeezin folks!

I would break the Cleanse As Suggested in the Book and Test your Stomach to see what's appropriate. Now a glass of wine is opposite of trying to Cleanse, So I would slowly go back to Real food First, then Maybe try a glass of wine, if your body is up to it. In regards to Chicken etc, you can Try a small portion for dinnner As a test after 1 or 2 days of Just OJ or grapefruit Juice, BUT LISTEN TO YOUR BODY.

MC 2 Day 25

Hello Everyone! :) Hope everyone is having a great day today!!! :)

Today is day 25!!!!!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOO I'm still feeling great! :) My tongue is getting pinker around the edges and the tip :p but along the middle.... gross!!! It's a weird whitish/yellowish/greenish? tint and thick and icky!! eeegggghhhhhh! But I'm feeling really really good and I've been so crazy busy the last 3 days, but the crazy thing is...I'm not at all tired or worn out! I've had great energy! I wish I could say the same for my 6 year old son! :( I had to take my other two kids to the dentist today, then picked him up at my mom's where he said he had a headache...on the way home, I had to run in the store really quick....got into the door where he promptly threw up!!!! Great times! So now he's layed out on the couch watching tv, poor guy. :(

My hubby is on day 6. He's still a little rough around the edges, but hanging in here!

Well, I have to run and take care of my little one! "See" you all tomorrow!! :D

Yay Lemoneater1!!!!!! :D You are doing great!!! You rock!!! :D 25 days!!! woooohooooo!!!! :D:D:D

I am just starting my 5th day. Drinking my SWF now. Going better, headache was not so bad last night. I'm optmistic! Taking it day by day.
I am ending my day 4 of the Master Cleanse ,I drink about 2 bottles and a half of lemonade which is almost 4 liters ...? Is that too much ?
Also I have gone wrong the first two days , by not measuring well the quantity of water used in the SWF , i put 2 teaspoons of hymalayan Salt in one glass of water and drunk it very fast , don't know if that is good or not ??
only realized later that a Quart equals 1 liter and half , which i drank this morning but had a very difficult time drinking it , it does seem to be a LOT ? anyone knows if i am doing it right ?
Other than that , I haven't had any headaches or pains anywhere , my BM were just liquid and not very often like I read others do. Tonight is the first time I experience Hunger and my stomach is growling . Also i wanted to know if it's ok to drink more juice after your Senna leaf tea in the evening ?
Thank you for your replys

Peter,
I'm at the end of my first day.
Have a few questions.
What's the best action to recover from eating?
Are the measurements with the lemonade important? (I may have double the lemon juice -- got some really big lemons-- and more water than recommended).
I also use more water for the tea. However, I keep the swf exact.
Thanks,
Phyllis

I re-read The Master Cleanser tonight and took a baking soda/mineral salt bath. Let the detox begin. The next 10 days are going to be amazing. We are GOING to finish this time! Should I have stayed on the cleanse longer? Does anyone think oil pulling will help?

MC 2 Day 26

Good Morning Lovely Lemon Squeezers! :D Day 26 and still feeling amazing!!!!! :D Gonna spend the day "spring" cleaning my kitchen and rearranging all the cupboards and everything! I've been scouring cookbooks and looking for great recipes to try, so I'm getting pretty excited!!! :p It's gonna be hard to "pace" myself and go slowly back into transitioning into food, but don't worry....I WILL!!!!! I have no intention of making myself sick now! :D I found this awesome recipe for spaghetti squash that I am just dying to try!!!! Yum!!! :p

Day 7 for the hubby....he made it into work today! I was surprised! Especially since day 7 is such a hard detox day! So far he's made it into work everyday and only came home early one day (I think it was either day 2 or 3) Well, I've gotta run! Hope everyone has a great day!!! :D

Hey Peter are you around

Hey People! You Rock!:D

Checkin' on you from the "after the cleanse" discussion board.

Keep up the SWF, Lax Tea, Lemonade, Lax Tea routine until you reach your goal! Your skin will look clearer, your body will feel lighter and lighter, your energy will climb, and you will feel happier! :D:D:D Don't forget to drink H2O:p in addition to at least six ten-ounce lemonades a day (Peter's book page 53). Page 152 encourages getting adequate H2O one ounce daily for every two pounds of body weight. The book also encourages the following the Master Cleanse exactly (page 106).

Whether you complete 10 days or 40 days transitioning from the MC to food is the same. Peter's book recommends reading pages 25-27 from Burroughs "The Master Cleanser." In a nutshell it says:

Meat eaters: Two days of OJ or grapefruit juice. Day two dinner = home made vegetable soup (mostly broth). Followed by a breakfast of OJ or grapefruit juice on the third day. For lunch, more soup and dinner vegetables, salad, or fruit. Day four recommends normal eating preferably consuming the lemonade each morning and a diet of fruits, vegetables, and seeds eliminating or limiting dairy, meat, and refined foods.

Vegetarians: Two days of OJ or grapefruit juice. Followed by OJ or grapefruit juice for breakfast, raw fruit for lunch, and fruit or raw vegetable salad for dinner. Day four recommends normal eating preferably consuming the lemonade each morning and eliminating dairy and refined foods.

Purchase both books if you haven't already. I refer to them frequently! Join us at the 'after the cleanse' link when you've finished your cleanse! Happy Cleansing:)

Ciao!

HI Kalyani:)

SWF = 32 oz water & 2 teaspoons sea salt before drinking anything each morning (allow 2 hours after drinking, an hour for purculating and an hour to really finish flushing).

Lax Tea = 30 minutes after SWF.

Lemonade: minimum six 10-oz drinks a day.

10 oz = 8 oz water, 2 tbsp. fresh squeezed lemon juice, 2 tbsp. maple syrup.

20 oz = 16 oz water, 1/3 cup, LJ, 1/3 cup MS.

40 oz = 32 oz water, 2/3 c LJ, 2/3 c. MS.

Note: as your body acclimates and energy level it optimum, you may decrease MS incrementally for additional weight loss. Listen to your body. :)

Lax Tea = at bed time

Repeat the next day 8)

Slimmer ~ You are doing it correctly! That posting is incorrect! You do NOT drink lax tea in the morning after the SWF.....you do either the SWF OR the tea....NOT BOTH. Also, if you read the post you will notice that the recipe for the lemonade is incorrect. They omitted the cayanne pepper which is also a very important ingredient in the drink recipe! Just be careful of what you read on here and always refer back to your books for the correct information! This website is VERY HELPFUL AND INFORMATIVE but don't forget we are all just normal people and sometimes make mistakes! ;)

NO, that is NOT Correct....Do the SWF in the Morning First thing on an empty stomach..Then take the Tea at night before Bed. Or if you cannot do the SWF do the Tea Morning and then Evening...NEVER TAKE BOTH AT THE SAME TIME UNLESS YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH LOL :-p

Hi Tanyazl1,

You have made a couple of mistakes and/or omissions in your post!!!

First of all if you do the SWF in the morning you do NOT also do the lax tea in the morning!!! You only do SWF first thing in the morning and lax tea last thing at night. Now if for some reason you can not do the SWF first thing in the morning you can substitute with lax tea, but remember it is MUCH better to do the SWF as it helps wash out the toxins better than the lax tea!!

Secondly your instructions for the lemonade omitted the cayenne pepper which should be 1/10 teaspoon or to taste. Cayenne pepper is a VERY important part of the lemonade and can NOT be omitted!!

Remember that Burroughs recommends that your water should be spring water or purified water and not tap water. He also states: "never vary the amount of lemon juice per glass".

It is very important when giving information on this Board that it is 100% accurate, there is too much misinformation going around about "The Master Cleanser".

Just my $.02 worth!!

Hope everyone is hanging in there and having a good day.

MC2 DAY19
Good morning my lemon scented friends,
I hope all is well in Cleansing Land. I am doing quite well with spirits high, and just generally trying to bolster my courage to go on past my goal of 21 days. I am still eliminating, still detoxing, still have a coated tongue, and still have more weight to lose. I am approaching the lightest I've been in a decade and I feel really good about that! Does anyone know how long you have to cleanse before you stop having..uh.. productive BM'S?
ESlicer... Way to go! Your half way there!
YY2 .. there is no one trick more important than wanting the change with all your might. I WANT to rid my body of unhealthy toxins. I WANT to break old habits with food and have a healthier relationship with food. I WANT to have a healthy body. I WANT to like the way my body looks.... and I want these things bad enough to do this cleanse as long as it takes to get there.
My list of other, more, practical tips goes like this:
1) Do not weigh your self every day! I had a 3 day stretch during my last cleanse when I didn't lose a pound...I gained one! That was a real moral buster. Now I weigh in every five days.
2) Mix it up! I buy lemons, I buy limes, I seek out different varieties of lemons and limes. I use Maple Syrup, I use agave nectar, and I mix different proportions of these ingredients in my drinks. I make some really spicy, some less spicy. I drink them warm, cold, iced... anything to keep from getting bored, which is one of my biggest challenges. Variety!
3) Get support! Read the posts on the board, and add yours to the board. Find family members, or friends who will keep you encouraged and stay away from the nay sayers!
4) Make goals! Have something to shoot for and remind yourself daily why you are doing this, why you NEED this change.
5) Treat yourself! Just because you can't enjoy a cookie doesn't mean you can't have a treat. Go see a movie, or rent a favorite. Get a massage, take an hot bath, or better yet a hot tub. Take in a show, do what ever it is you like and try an have a treat in reserve for when you feel low.

I hope this helps,
Lemonyfresh

Morning everyone
Well I've made it to day 7 of 1st DC. Also quite chuffed that I've dropped 17lbs so far!!
I'm really tempted to just stay on it till I've lost all my weight!!
So if I stay on it longer than 10 days, what's the rule on breaking the fast? how many extra days would I have to do?
Thanks Gillian

Slimmer ~ Congratulations on your amazing weight loss!!! That is awesome!!! I was wondering about the same question about how to break a long fast (I'm on day 26) and I found this great article on here called "Article about breaking a fast and life thereafter" by peanutterb. It says "NOTE: When breaking a fast over ten days, a good rule of thumb is that the break-in period should be extended one day for every 4 days of fasting." The rest of the article is great too with great tips and ideas. Hope this helps! :) Congrats on day 7!!! My hubby is on day 7 today also!

PS~ The writer on here who said that breaking the fast for 10 or 40 days is no different is the SAME person who was incorrect about the swf & lax tea & recipe for lemonade mixture....so you may want to consider reading the article by peanutterb about how many days to break fast because I believe peanutterb is one of the 5 people listed as moderators on this website so I would trust that information more....

MC5 Day 2. So far so good. I will need to work tonight at a bar and be exposed to food; that is usually the worst day of my week and it typically happens twice during my cleanses.

Question:
Is there any benefit of stopping after day 17 rather then stopping at day 14 outside of incremental weight loss??

February 6th, 2009, 03:11 PM
Can't believe I got here. Lost 7 pounds. Still feeling hungry but not craving food if that makes sense. In fact the thought makes me sick but I still fantasize about food. I keep dreaming I break the fast by doing something stupid like eating an oreo cookie. I wake up in a frenzy "Did I eat something?" To be honest I've found the boredom hardest to deal with, especially when the kids go to bed. What I do is I go to bed with my DVD player and watch movies and TV shows which I download on Itunes. I recommend horror films or ghost movies because it's the only genre where people DON'T EAT, you want to know why ? Because the drama doesn't depend on precincts like a restaurants or a cafes or a family dinners. It's always in a haunted house or in a spooky hotel and for some reason no one snacks, except in The Shining, oh and George Romero movies, but that's people eating people and unlikely to make your tummy rumble. I also like comedy 30 Rock is great, but Liz Lemon, she's always eating. Same with Sex in the City, those girls can't get through a scene without a fork in their hand, god knows where they put all that food, they're so goddam thin.

Moving along....I'm doing okay. Not too many symptoms, except the over analysing of genre movies and sit coms. I'm eliminating, but not like everyone else here. I pee a lot and there are BM's, but not anything frightening...

Hope I make it through the weekend...my son and I going to movies...I can't have a hot dog...don't actually want one, but still, I miss the idea of it.

Good Afternoon Everyone! Ratton, thanks for catching my cayenne omission :o I returned to add it because I had an epiphany about omitting it as I prepared Ani Phyo's sun burger....point well taken. I apologize Lemonheads, I made the assumption that we realize purification does not occur with tap water. My Bad:( I'm only as human as human can be :D

The additional morning laxative tea can be found in Borroughs' book page 21: Helping the Cleanse Along, and Peter's book page 54 & Peter's journal on page 37.

Peter state on page 54," Be sure you are mixing your lemonade according to the book and drinking at least six to twelve glasses per day, drinking the quart of salt water (with two level teaspoons of sea salt) first thing in the morning and laxative tea (I recommend a blend with senna in it, not straight senna) morning and evening until you are eliminating more." It's all about interpretation, I must say. We have used Peter's method quoted above several times with productive results. If you know what I mean

Hey MC Lemonheads! The measurements I posted for Kaylani are accurately in line with page 22 of Peter's book. I absolutely agree with Ratton regarding the lemon juice. Peter states on page 106, "I doubt the extra lemon juice will ruin the cleanse. Whether it will yield the same excellent results is something I do not know. That is why I recommend following the Master Cleanse exactly as written. It works very well routinely. If you want your lemonade less sweet, reduce the maple syrup. " Borroughs states on page 20, "For those who are overweight, less maple syrup may be taken."

I usually make lots of references to Peter's and Borroughs' books to promote accuracy and clarity. Check out my prior posts. ;) That's why we are here...to provide support, to share and master our MC experiences :D.

rs1918: I think it's personal preference. Things really start moving for me after Day 15. Not just weight loss, but inches. Fat begins to melt and it's all downhill (in a good way) for me at that time. You'll hear the same thing from others who keep going. If you can try it and see what happens. :)

As I am curious and wanting to make sure I'm doing all this properly, I checked out your quotes and pages....
Regarding your quote about Burroughs book pg 21: It does say in "helping the cleansing along" about taking lax tea morning & night, BUT if you read down to the very next section, "another cleansing aid: internal salt water bathing" if you keep reading it goes on to say that "It is quite advisable to take the herb laxative tea at night to loosen, then the salt water each morning to wash it out. If for some reason the salt water cannot be taken in the morning, then the herb laxative tea must be taken night and morning." pg 22
Also, regarding your quote from Peter's book on pg 54, that is correct that he wrote that, BUT it is in the context of a "conversation" online between people on pages 53 & 54 regarding "bowel movements not happening"....this was a person who wasn't eliminating so Peter's quote that you wrote was in regards to that, ~ "drinking the quart of salt water (with two level teaspoons of sea salt) first thing in the morning and laxative tea (I recommend a blend with senna in it, not straight senna) morning and evening until you are eliminating more."

I am not trying to "argue" with you or your points, I'm just also trying to research and figure this out. I'm really wanting to figure this out...anyone else have any input on the interpretation of any of this? What do you think???

Some people have been known to drink LAX tea *after the morning SWF. It's not something Burroughs or Peter states is part of the cleanse but it doesn't appear to hurt either.

I really like the way you two are working through this. :D We've had some knock down drag out fights in the forums and a lot of rude comments. You're both amazing. ;)

Something else new is the Agave Nectar. I believe if Burroughs was here he would approve. (Now Newbies: This isn't license to add pizza to the cleanse. ;) )

Someone wrote Peter about her husbands diabetes and how the molasses was so gross they turned to agave. He forwarded the email to me and I guinea pigged it and found I had the same results with the agave - I just prefer the maple. So away we went. By the way, others had chimed in that they had been using agave for the same reason and it's low on the glycemic index and therefore safe for diabetics.

Another great thing is some people absolutely abhor the flavor of the lemonade with maple so the alternative is agave and a continue cleanse with happy campers. :) So the moral is we're doing the best we can without Burroughs here to guide us. :) AND we're all in this together.

H E L P..I'm reeeal curious here....

I'm on my 5th day. I quadurple checked the ratio of my mixes so thats correct.
I only did 2 SWF, but compensated by not missing one of the teas...
now heres whats confusing me.

The night before I started, I had soup for dinner, followed by cleansing tea before bed.
I woke on the 1st day of the cleanse and never had a solid BM. Now i'm finishing day 5 and still waiting for the "garbage" to be relinquished from my body.... Is this normal?
Either my system aint clogged by toxins, or its taking longer than I thought to dissolve it.
...any thoughts?

Day 9.

I was originally planning to do 10 days but now I'm considering 14. The past 2 days I've been fantasizing about eating all sorts of junky stuff. Last night I was ready to eat ANYTHING!. Thankfully I dropped a pound by this morning which encourages me to hang on. I started this with 2 goals- to lose some weight, and to break the addictions/cravings for junky foods. So, the fact that I'm craving junk is disconcerting. It's probably not safe to stop yet or I'll end up shoveling in the wrong kinds of food. And the recent comments about weight loss really picking up after 15 days also intrigues me...

I've kind of settled down to only 6 cups of the lemonade each day, and barely any cayenne (never got an answer to my last question about the cayenne). I'm almost having to force myself to drink the lemonades, but I also get several glasses of water too. Otherwise, I'm doing the swf, and teas as directed, and usually feeling pretty well. The past two days I was really blue for no apparent reason, and I'm sure not having much energy- on the contrary- I'm cold, tired, and wanting to sleep more. Hoping for the energy surge soon. I'm just thankful that I'm not having horrible headaches like days 2-3, or sore throats. Most symptoms really do only last a day or less, except for the tired and cold stuff mentioned above.

I'm always inspired to read about those of you who are doing the longer fasts. Bravo!!

MC4 - Day 0
I'm about to take my lax tea and get this party started. It's always so nice to feel the sense of community here.

One note to cracker person (I've forgotten who said it) - I KNOW it seems like it's helping. And in the end you are better off doing a semi-cleanse than no cleanse...
but... you are not doing the master cleanse. You aren't reaping all the benefits. Can you - now that you are a little more used to the process - give yourself a fresh start and stick to the recipe?

Here's something to think about: you are putting yourself through an awful lot of misery as it is. right? So why go through all that misery if it's not even helping you as much as you want. If you can mentally 'muscle' through a day or two without crackers, it WILL get easier.

I've created a free video using EFT to help defeat cravings. You can watch it as well as a bunch of other tools at: http://www.expertvillage.com/video/35454_emotional-freedom-eft-cravings.htm

If you are not familiar with EFT, be prepared to feel goofy... that is until you notice that it actually works.

**by the way, please don't beat yourself up for slipping - ever. Don't worry about yesterday. If you were to decide to keep your bedroom clean, you can only make TODAY's bed. You cannot make yesterday's bed. And while we know it's silly to obsess over yesterday's unmade bed, somehow we think it's useful to beat ourselves up for other actions in the past.

Best wishes!

lemonyfresh,

Congrats on 20 days & 22lbs lost. :D

So far I've only lost 13lbs. Fortunately, weight lost isn't really that much of an issue for me. I use to weight 205lbs (at 5'6" & sm frame). After a year of cleansing & cutting all sugar & junk food out of my diet, I got down to 150lbs and have kept it off for the most part for the last two and a half years.

Since the holidays my diet has backslid a bit, and I started this cleanse off a 160lbs. (Knew I was going to do this cleanse, so I kept on eating junk. Bad Ed!) Weighed in at 147 this morning, so I could still use to lose about 7-12 more pounds. Should be gone by the time I finish this cleanse. :)

There use to be a whole gang of lemonheads a day behind me. Are you the only one left?

Again, congrats on your double 20s... Ed :D

Hi Tanyazl1,

Thanks for your reply. You state: "I usually make lots of references to Peter's and Borroughs' books to promote accuracy and clarity", (you spelled Stanley's last name wrong, it is Burroughs), that is an excellent way to get good information, but I feel what you have stated is taken out of context and thus gives some readers the wrong idea; for example the person who wondered if they were doing it wrong because they weren't taking the lax tea after the SWF.

I have Peter's book and mine is the 2nd edition, so my page does not correspond exactly to yours. In my book, on page 55 under the heading, "BOWL MOVEMENTS NOT HAPPENING" he says: "Just insure you are doing the laxative tea at night and the salt water flush in the morning and six to twelve drinks of lemonade with fresh lemon juice as instructed in the book. Then if you still are not eliminating, add a single cup of the laxative tea first thing in the morning as well." Then on page 56 still under the same heading, "BOWL MOVEMENTS NOT HAPPENING", he says the same thing you quoted, " Be sure you are mixing your lemonade according to the book and drinking at least six to twelve glasses per day, drinking the quart of salt water (with two level teaspoons of sea salt) first thing in the morning and laxative tea (I recommend a blend with senna in it, not straight senna) morning and evening until you are eliminating more."

I think when these quotes are read in the proper context that it is clear that the use of lax tea in the morning after the SWF is only recommended when elimination is not happening, and only and I think the key word is "until" you are eliminating more.

With regards to your Burroughs reference: "The additional morning laxative tea can be found in Borroughs' book page 21: Helping the Cleanse Along", my impression is that up to this point of the book the SWF has not been introduced yet. The next heading on this page is, "Another Cleansing Aid: Internal Salt Water Bathing", where he introduces the SWF; and still under this heading on page 22 he states: "It is quite advisable to take the herb laxative tea at night to loosen, then the salt water each morning to wash it out. If for some reason the salt water cannot be taken in the morning, then the herb laxative tea must be taken night and morning." As I see it in this statement he is not advocating taking the lax tea in the morning as well as doing the SWF.

Just my $.02 on this topic to help " promote accuracy and clarity".

HI MASTER CLEANSERS! My husband and I are on day 1 of the MC and he was able to do the SWF just fine. I however couldn't keep it down and after drinking 3/4 of it, most of it came back up. I drank the tea, but I am wondering if I drink the tea morning and night rather than the SWF, will I still get all of the cleansing benefits? Wish us luck! We are both first timers and going to go for 10 days to start. :)

Great job everyone so far!! Especially you marathon cleansers!!! I'm on day 11 and I think I'm going to wrap it up tomorrow. I feel at peace with myself and my efforts, and am only craving healthy foods, and I'm ready to workout like I used to (on the cleanse I'm weaker). I will probably decide tomorrow but I think my mind is made up.
I'm going to eat vegetarian for at least 8-10 days, then go back to my Paleo way of eating. Lost 11 pounds so far...and usually drop a few more post cleanse...so hopefully another 5 more at least. I'm so happy I came back for round 2. Thank you all for your advice, support and stories, I could not make it through these with out the board!! Keep it up everyone and see you in April!:D

Good for you for re-starting! I am on Day 34 of a 40 Day Cleanse. Let me know if I can help you make the 40. Just to inspire you, Last January I did my first cleanse for 30 Days. I lost over 35 lbs. I only weighed & measured myself at the beginning & end of that cleanse & had not weighed myself again until the beginning of this one.

When I got on the scale to weigh myself for the beginning of this cleanse, was I surprised to see that I weighed the exact amount I weighed at the end of the first one! (So, ultimately I did not gain back any of the weight I lost!)

What do I attribute it to? I was already a vegatarian/(some seafood) for 25 years but I gave up dairy & white flour after the cleanse. I still eat organic brown rice pasta & whole grain breads, so that was not hard. Melted cheese was my downfall, but now after a year without it, I don't crave it. I hope to go to a greater % raw after this cleanse. Good Luck! Spica

Hey everyone - Day 9 and feeling pretty good. Just like last Day 9, I'm wrapping up with more BMs than I've been having (except on days 1-3). I didn't have much energy on my run this morning...I should have had another drink before. I ended up walking but that's ok. Just getting some fresh air was good. I've been working out steadily throughout and today's been the only 'low energy' day.

Day 10!!! I made it the full 10 days that I set out to do, and now I'm pretty sure I'll go until day 14. It wasn't always obvious that I'd make it, so I'm pretty pleased to be here. PTL. I was in Arizona last month delivering my daughter to her college internship location, and brought home a big bag of organic lemons with this cleanse in mind. It looks like I still have enough left for 4 more days, so I'll take that as the deciding factor. I've never gone longer than 10 days before, and on my last cleanse I kept a written record ending with the comment "next time go 14 days". So, that's the plan. Another reason to continue is that every food looks and smells delicious to me right now- and that includes a lot of junky stuff. I'm not sure that I will be able to just eat healthy which is part of why I started this in the first place. I need to get to a place where it's a little less tempting, I guess. It's not entirely easy even now, so I hope that I can not only make the 14 days ok, but break the fast in a healthy way.

So, to date, I've lost around 10 pounds, had low energy the whole time except maybe day 6 and today was somewhat better too. No real funky symptoms after the third day. For some reason I have to make myself drink the lemonade and am not really enjoying it. Last time I grew to like it. The SWF is still brutal  but has such effective results that I always do it when my schedule allows. The tea is less predictable, but easier on the palate. :p

YY2- :) Glad to hear that you've been doing this along with me. Because I'm new to posting, my replies had to be reviewed by the powers that be, and hence all my posts showed up a day later and several pages back, so I assumed that no one was reading them except for the first couple. You made my day with the encouragement. Want to go 14 days with me?? Good job to you too for making the 10 day mark!

Hi Master Cleansers,
I'm at the end of day 3, feeling great, but nothing in my BM except LJ. I started doing the SWF the week before I started the cleanse and cleaned out a little then, but I expected it to continue even more now that I started the MC. I've been on the Atkins diet forever & suspect that I have a high level of uric acid causing aches, pains and constipation. Everytime I've tried to eat fruits & veggies, I'd gain weight so I'd go back to meat, eggs & cheese. So, I'm hoping after the MC, I can learn to like a more vegatable diet without the weight gain. I've ordered the MC books but they probably won't arrive until Wed or Thurs next week. My goal is minimum of 10 days and see how I feel then. Do you think it's okay to continue the SWF after the MC? Thanks for your help and inspiration! :) I've enjoyed reading all the posts!

Greetings everyone, this is my first MC and I'm just finishing day 29! I'm trying to go for the full 40 days. Originally I just wanted to do 10 days, then I decided to do 20, then 30, then 40. I have a couple questions... I'm 4'9" tall and started this cleanse at 108 lbs. I've been drinking 5 glasses of lemonade a day instead of 6 since I am so petite and don't weigh much. I started with 6, went down to 5.5 glasses, then as I lost weight, I went down to 5 glasses. I also go a little light on the syrup. I know Peter Glickman's book and Stanley Burrough's book said 6 is the minimum for someone on the small side that wants to loose weight but consider I'm not just petite, I'm very petite. I have less of a body to flush this through. I was following Peter Glickman's words regarding drinking at least 1 oz of lemonade for every 2 pounds you weigh. I always have to adjust any kind of diet for the fact that I am so petite. Otherwise, I have stuck to the diet to the letter. I also jog for an hour 3-4 time per week. I have lost 12 pounds so far but I have plateued at about 96 pounds. I'm not looking to be anorexic or anything crazy but in high school and college I weighed 80 - 85 pounds so getting down to 90 pounds shouldn't be unreasonable. Also, my tongue is still white in the back and somewhat all over, I just don't seem to be making any more progress but I have had eliminations every single day. Is this normal? Is there anything I can/should do? Is it possible that I don't have a high enough concentration of lemon to flush out all of the toxins? If I'm not making any progress should I just finish the cleanse? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hello Master Cleansers,
I'm starting to worry. I'm starting my 4th day and I haven't made any real big eliminations except for LJ in the SWF, and I haven't lost any weight. From what I read, it seems everyone is losing about a pound a day. I don't have a scale but I've just been measuring my waist, tummy, hips, thighs & arms and there's no change. After 3 days of no food, I would think I'd see something happening. I wonder if I should reduce the MS and increase the LJ? Does asnyone know what benefit the maple syrup has in this? Thanks for any advise you can give.

Hi Florida Girl, I'm new at this but I'll take a stab at your questions. Peter Glickman wrote that for people who have eaten a lot of meat and dairy products it often takes several days before they start having BMs. He specifically mentioned people who have been on the Atkins diet that it often takes a few days. See p. 53, BMs not happening. The fact that you were doing the SWF before the week started probably means you may have already eliminated some of the recent stuff. Also anything, even just water, that comes out the back end Peter considers to be a BM. He says that one thing you could do is to add another cup of the laxative tea in the morning along with your SWF. So that would be having the herbal laxative tea both at night before you go to bed and in the morning along with the SWF. Peter says not to worry, the cleanse will work this stuff out of you. I hoep that helps.

But you've given me some hope to keep going and hopefully toxins will start moving out and the weight will come off. Today has been a totally different experiance, i feel fantastic! cooked a roast for my parents and went to gym & spa while they ate :)

Down side is that someone crashed into my new car on the way home but i'm fine & wasn't my fault & she's insured so it could have been worse!

I guess I'm on day zero. I am so excited to begin but I am unfortunately an over planner. Desperately organizing my calendar to find the right time to begin. Feeling as if there will be enough chances to come across obstacles(detox symptoms), why set myself up intentionally if I can avoid it. Well I have just read the book this weekend, I guess I'm ready now, as soon as my schedule says so!!

This site seems to be a great tool.
Look forward to starting!!

Dear Floridagirl,

Reducing some syrup is fine, it's main purpose is to provide you with the calories you need and it has minerals. Stanley Burroughs said it's fine to reduce the amount of syrup a little if you want to loose weight. I've also seen people on this BB say that they lost most of their weight during days 11 - 14 and in the week after they went off the diet. So I say hang in there, I just know this is working. I know how tough it is when you don't see results though, my weight loss has slowed down a lot and I feel the same way but I'm going to tough it out through day 40. If I may ask, how much do you weigh and how tall are you? These things definately effect weight loss. I tried to stick to Peter Glickman's guide of at least 1 oz of lemonade for every 2 pounds that you weigh. In my own case I was probably a good 10 pounds overweight when I started so I lost about 7 pounds in the first 10 days but I think that was because I jogged for an hour about 4 times per week and I had been eating pretty healthy before I started, not vegan, but healthy. I was doing the Flat Belly Diet, which I think if you're not vegan, is a great way to eat in general. That's generally what I will return to once I go off the diet. After my initial weight loss and I got rid of the extra weight that was plainly visible, my weight loss slowed down a lot! I'm now loosing roughly a pound every 3 to 4 days. If I do the math, I'm running roughly an 800 - 900 calorie deficit every day without jogging and there are 3500 calories to a pound so I should be loosing a pound every 3 to 4 days. I read somewhere on the BB that when you fast, your metabolism slows down 90%. I know, that's a lot! I think the jogging is helping to keep my metabolism up. Good luck and hang in there!

Day 5 here. Days three and four had me thinking about food pretty much off and on but somehow made it. Usually my desire to eat is gone by now.

So last night i woke up itching all over my body. Not exactly crazy itching but just little spots all over; legs, back, face, arms, etc. Is this a product of detoxing??

rs1918: I think it's personal preference. Things really start moving for me after Day 15. Not just weight loss, but inches. Fat begins to melt and it's all downhill (in a good way) for me at that time. You'll hear the same thing from others who keep going. If you can try it and see what happens.

Thanks for the info. The thing is i am basically already at my desired weight and will certainly be by day 15. So i'm wondering more about the detoxing aspect of adding two more days on top of the 15. Is the two extra days really worth the stretch?

Good Morning everyone! :) Hope everyone is having a great morning! :)

The hubby has survived his very first MC!!! ;) Today is his Day 10!!!!! :D He is sooo excited to be done! LOL :p Tomorrow he will start his transition to OJ :p

I completed 27 days and I lost 15 pounds. I decided to start easing out of the fast yesterday. Based on the article about breaking a fast by peanutterb, I think I should ease out for about 8 days if I figured that correctly!?! So I decided to start easing out yesterday so that I will have 2 extra days of just OJ before my hubby starts on his OJ too just to be safe. Just for the record.....DAY 26 was HORRIBLE!!!!! I felt awful and headachy and crampy and just achy and MISERABLE!!! The next morning I had major eliminations with fiery hot toxic exits!!!!! YIKES!!! Then I felt perfectly wonderful again! :D So I decided it was safe to begin the ease out transitioning! ;) I feel so happy to have made it this far. Thank you so much to everyone on this board!!!!! It's very encouraging to get on here every morning and know that we have a great group of lemonheads supporting us!!! :D You are all such an inspiration!!!! :) Keep up the good work and keep squeezing those lemons!!! :p See you all in a few months! :D

Hi Cindy Wilcox,
It's great that you're going to go to day 40! What keeps you motivated? Today is day 5. I did have a smal BM this morning! Yeah! The tea really gives me cramps or stomach aches. I want to do the MC until I know the detox has been done and I can exercise again without my back & neck muscles and feet aching so much. I'm going to do step aerobics today. I don't have a scale (My fiance took the batteries out when I got mad at myself about my weight) but I think I weigh 135-140, 5'5" tall. I've been measuring myself instead. My waist is 31" and the largest part of my belly 37.5", Hips/Butt 40", Thigh is 23". I feel best when I weigh 110-115. Whats the flat belly diet? Thanks for your support!

Today is the first day of the master cleanse for me after ending a 20day cleansing period and taking a two week break. I am primarily doing the cleanse for weight loss but I am excited about all of the other benefits of the cleanse. I know that people say, "don't do the cleanse for weight loss purposess" but before you judge, let me give you a bit of history. 4yrs ago I moved back to my hometown in California from NewYork. My life style changed dramatically. I walked everywhere in Newyork and maintained a weight hat I was satified with for 7yrs. I knew my body so well that I could buy cl;othes without trying them on. After two yrs of living in California I gained 16lbs. I hated being over-weight, it caused fatigue and depression, but I didn't have any self control; I could not stop eating (the food is too good here) on top of that I did a lot less walking. In 2007 My husband and I discovered that we were expecting another child. My daughter is now 2yrs old and prior to 2weeks ago I had tried just about everything to loose the extra 20lbs that I gained from the pregnancy along with the 17lbs that I gained before even getting pregnant.
I did the master cleanse from 1/11/09-2/1/09. During the 20day fast, the depression that I suffered from was gone, the fatigue...gone, and most of all I look great. I went from 5'9 200lbs to 5'9 176lbs. I have been exercising eating less I admit I haven't been juicing as much as I should, but I have been eating healthly (I think). Since then I have gained 5lbs back and I hadn't yet reached my goal of 165lbs. Today I am 181lbs and I have restared the master cleanse to loose 10lbs and take another shot at the raw food lifestyle. I want to continue to loose the 7lbs after I complete the master cleanse. I have heard of it being done before.I tried, but I think that I didnot come off of the cleanse properly. I need some assistance to loose the weight, keep it off and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Floridagirl & Others,

This fast gets easier the more days you're on it but you will hit a few hard days and some times when you will really want to quit. Regarding what keeps me motivated: Reading Peter Glickman and Stanley Burrough's books helped me a lot. Peter's book explains what you will encounter and you will recognize bad symptoms and what it means. Without his book, I think a lot of people wouldn't even last 10 days. I had only planned to do this for 10 days but after reading Peter's book, I thought if I could make it to 10 days and felt ok, I would try for 20, after I was doing ok in my 20s, I thought I wanted to feel that spiritual feeling that Peter described so I would go for 30 days. Somewhere along the way the weight loss really slowed down but I realized if I kept doing a fair amount of cardio to keep up my metabolism, I was still consistently loosing about 2 pounds a week which is more than I've ever lost on any diet. Once I get down into the 90s it gets harder and harder to loose weight. I think I'm down to 94 pounds today and my goal is to get to 90 pounds, then stop and slowly come off the fast, I might loose a few more pounds after I come off of the cleanse. Then my goal is to watch what I eat and keep the weight off.

Here is my standing question to others: one thing that does not seem to be improving much is my tongue. It's still pretty white in the center in the back and somewhat white all over. If it's improving at all, it's so slow. Can anyone tell me why I'm not seeing much improvement after doing this for 30 days? Am I really that toxic and I just need to do more than 1 cleanse to really get it all out of me?

2quarts of water
1/2 cup of Maple Syrup?
a bit over 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

Hi Cindy Wilcox and Fellow MC,
I finally got Peter Glickman's & Stanley Burroughs books today! I went to a friends house and weighed myself. It was as I suspected, 140.4 lbs, the heaviest I've ever been. I would like to lose 30 lbs. From reading the posts, I'd have to go the 40 days at least. That seems rather impossible except I hear all of you doing it. I keep daydreaming about a glass of red wine and what I might eat after I lose the weight like a pasta dinner or a big juicy steak, ect. I'll just take it a day at a time and all you guys will inspire me. I hope it's like you say, that it gets easier, mostly after I read these books. Thanks for you help and keep it up!

Spencer, it's 8 oz. of water

In the book Burroughs says to use a 10 oz. glass and fill it with 2 tbsp of lemon juice, 2 tbsp of MS, 1/10 tsp cayene, and the rest with water.
2 tbsp = 1 oz., so after adding the lemon juice and MS, you would have room left for 8 oz. of water.

Hope this helps... Ed

60 oz. drink = 48 oz. water + 12 tbsp lemon juice (6 oz) +12 tbsp MS (6 oz) + 6/10 tsp cayenne

48 oz = 1.5 quarts = 1 quart (32 oz) + 2 cups (16 oz)

Well Today is DAY 30 I have to Say that I feel Awesome. I am going with the FLow of Things, and the BM's are becoming Less and Less. I am Fatigued, But NO Other Detox symptoms to Report. I think I will COntinue Until I finish all my Cleanse Ingredients. I still have over 10 lemons left and some syrup left. So I think I will continue until those are done. I have lost about 28 lbs and Lots of Inches. But Most importantly I feel Clear Minded, free from Addictions to Food and Wine. And Also I am Less afraid to begin eating again. I will move into the Oj or G/f Juice Maybe by This Saturday then begin a diet of raw for as Long as possible. ALSO, this Thursday I have a Physical so I am anxious to find out what my Test Results will say---LOL . So to all who are Thinking of taking the Plunge to the Longer FAST...Please Consider it. We can always go back to Eating, when we are done. It is POSSIBLE to Live without Food for this Long and Longer to 40 days. I just listen to my body and whether it wants to keep going or not. MY tongue fluctuates between white and pink day to day...so I am not sure if the Main detox in through yet. But Keep Going My Fellow Lemon Friends Eslicer, etc, You can Do it.

Day 5 and going strong. The first two days were pretty rough with headaches. I was trying to quit smoking at the same time so was taking Chantix so I stopped on day 2 and havent smoked or had a headache. I was pretty mucousy the first few days as well (nose plugged and gunk in my eyes like when I used to get pink eye when I was young). Finally, day 3 and 4 were pretty good. Although I did go too long yesterday without a LA and got pretty hungry. Im having a hard time getting all the LAs in... If I didn't push myself and only drank them when I was hungry I would only be having 4-5 LAs a day. I know that I need more than that if I really want to clean out my insides. This morning, my nose was plugged up again and my head feels heavy, although not as bad as day 1 and 2. The last time I did the MC I only lasted 6 days and dove right back into the "bad" food and made myself super sick. I don't want to do that this time. I want to make it 20 days and start eating 100% raw when Im done. I've seen too many of my family diseased and dying lately to go back to the "food of death".

Anyway, that's my story and Im stickin to it! LOL ;)

Here's to a GREAT LEMON DAY!

I 'm on day 5 of my 4th cleanse. Day one is always the hardest. I'm planning on going for 20 days. I plan on quitting for my son's birthday on Feb 28. He''ll be 12 and expects me to have some of his birthday cake. When I started cleansing two years ago it did not seem as though many people were doing longer cleanses. Now I'm reading these entries and many of you are going for much more than 20 days. This is an inspiration to me.
I have very few detox symptoms. I guess I'm lucky. I'm Italian- American so I've never had a problem with BMs.
My biggest fear is coming off of the cleanse as I get really hungry drinking OJ for two days. That actually keeps me on the cleanse. Weird, huh?
I am so impressed by everyone who does these cleanses.
Wish me luck!!!!!!

Hi, I'm new here but I'm not new to the cleanse. My grandparents turned me on to it ten years ago. They're the healthiest 80 year olds around.

I'm just now completing my second successful cleanse, today will be day 15. The last one was for ten days and that was four years ago. I had a very positive experience the first time because after the cleanse I was cautious about what I put into my body and consequently lost a lot of weight. I feel really good this time as well. The first five days were really rough but at this point I have plenty of energy but I also feel much more calm and relaxed than I normally do.

I do have one question though. I would like to attempt another fast 4 to 6 weeks from now. I understand that might be too soon but I couldn't find any information in the general help/faq section about it. If it is too soon why is it too soon? If anyone could help me with that I'd appreciate it.

I am on day 2 of my 10 days cleanse. I may last till 14, but not sure. I have some social stuff coming up on day 12, so i may break it. But this is about the 7th time I have done this and I love it! So far I am just tired. No other symtoms as of yet. I have to admit I find that if I work out while I cleanse, I feel much better, like I am helping the cleanse by sweating the toxins out! I went back to a horrible diet and drank alcohol way too much for about 5 months. I was disappointed in myself for falling back into that way of eating, but that is what is so great about the master Cleanse, you can start over, fresh slate when you do the cleanse again. I put all the weight back on that i had worked so hard for 2 years to get off! So i decided only way to get it off is to go back to the healthy lifestyle again. I started 2 years ago with the cleanse and it gave me the motivation to maintain the wonderful feeling, so I am going to do it again! Wish me luck and all your posts help keep me going!!!:):D

I am the same, I do it to be healthy, but also to loose weight. I actaully kept loosing weight after the cleanse, but I stuck to a totally 100% raw food diet for 6 months after the cleanse. It became natual to just eat fruit, veggies, seeds and nuts. I always had food with me in case I couldn;t get it where I was going. I would also seek out resteraunts that were more into the vegetarian, raw food theme. I was always able to change any salad, at any resteraunt into a raw foods meal. That way i still could go out and be social. I was successfull in dropping 50 lbs with the cleanse, exercising and eating raw foods. I am actaully diappointed in myself because I had a few health problems and would end up eating for ease rather than health and have dropped right back into my old habits and gained the weight back. But I am back ont he horse and am going to do it all over again! Good Luck!

Hello, this is my first time doing the cleanse and it is my second day. I was only planning on doing it for 5 days the first time around- I am a professional dancer and want to make sure I have enough energy for next weeks more intense rehearsals. Will 5 days still benefit me?
I find myself absolutely starving- and i've heard from others that have done this that that was not the case for them. My energy is a bit lower than usual as well- having trouble concentrating becasue i'm so hungry.
Anyway, I just wanted to make sure that 5 days is still a valid time to do the cleanse. If the way i feel today is any indication i dont think i can make 10! Thanks alot.

I am on Day 2 of my cleanse. I am still getting the hunger pains and last night I was starting to get a mild headache. I hope it gets easier, I'm still craving for solid food. I have replaced the salt flush with a laxative tea this morning because I do not like the taste of the salt flush. I will try the salt flush again tomorrow morning.

Hang in there Flora! When you get hungry, just drink more juice. I'm on the Day 5. I just finished reading Stanley Burroughs book, and WOW, I can't wait to experience the health benefits of a clean, toxin free body & healthy diet. :D

Thanks for the support Floridagirl. I did not get Stanley Burroughs book yet but it sounds like I should. Any advice on how drink the SaltWater Flush? I can't seem to drink it, so I replaced it with a laxative tea.
