PinkLemonade,

I'm on day 16 and have had more ups and downs since the 10th day too, but I am continuing to plug along because I know my downs are detox days. Yesterday, as an example, I broke out and was super lethargic/disoriented. After a nap and then some rest last night I woke up rejuvenated. My eliminations and the continuing detox occurrences are propelling me forward. So, my comment for you would be to hang on if you can. The "struggles" may be telling you that you are still detoxing. Make sense? You're doing great to have come so far! One day at a time! Beth

dear beth,

thank you so much for your encouragement!!
oh~ boy, it was hard.... i was sleepy all day!! i went to pick up some grapefruits for juicing but i am still debating to have another day or not......i will wait to see how i feel tomorrow. i know i am still de-toxing... i am shocked how toxic i was!!!!

thank you again!!

Pinklemonade: If you're feeling bad you're detoxing and you shouldn't quit on a detox day. Bravo to you for going past your goal of 10!! :D Wait till tomorrow and then break the fast.

dear res,

thank you for your advise. i know i am still de-toxing and i am getting inpatient...
i will wait until tomorrow and see how i feel...

thanks!!

MC2 Day 11
Hello everyone. Nice to see new people joining! Welcome!!! :)

Leah~ I don't know about the redness on your skin, but probably a detox...as for being COLD....well, I STAY COLD the entire time of the cleanse!!!! A lot of others do also.... You can try warming your lemonade up, but not too much or it will kill the enzymes in the lemons that you need!!!! There are days when I am literally wearing gloves around all day....IN THE HOUSE!!!

Not much to report today. Everything is ok for now. No major detox symptoms going on, so that's good.....or.....is that bad???!!!!??? I don't know anymore!! Have a good night everyone! :)

Hi all,

This is my first time doing the cleanse. I am on day 2 and so far everythinh is going well. I am not hungry or craving anything. I did yoga for 90 min yesterday and felt like I had a lot of energy.

I am planning on keeping up with my exercises (2 hrs weight trainning and kickboxing twice a week, and 1 cardio 4 times per week). I am wondering if this is too much? Has anyone done exercise with the cleanse?

Good luck all. I am very excited to detox my body and get my health back.
I have done several cleanses and each time I worked out. I do Zumba, Shadow Kickboxing and weight lifting. I usually work out 2-3 hours 5 days a week. When I feel alittle off I slow my roll. Cut back but not quit. I usually do the sauna also after. However, I don't do it as long because it takes too much out of me. I am so amazed how much energy I have on some days. Good luck to you and hang in there. Make sure you listen to your body.

HEY! I'm on Day 11 too and I just wanted to add that I am COLD all the time too. It doesn't help that I put ice cubes in each of my lemonade drinks (but that's the way I like my drinks). I like plain water at room temperature. So to compensate, I get 1 hour of sun each day to warm me up. One other funny thing is that my face and skin is not as oily as it used to be so I am using wheat germ and coconut oil to moisterize my skin. I think it's the astringent quality of the lemons and limes. I really feel 100% normal otherwise. My boyfriend and I are going for 30 days, so far...no problem.:)

Shane: How swollen is the tongue? Front, back, all of it?

The cold is normal, heck just about everything is normal on the cleanse. Take a peek at some of the things you can experience during detoxing:

The healing crisis will usually bring about past conditions in whatever order the body is capable of handling at that time. People often forget the diseases or injuries they have had in the past, but are usually reminded during the crisis. Reactions may include:
Increased joint or muscle pain
Headaches
Diarrhea
Extreme fatigue and/or its opposite, sleeplessness
Nausea
Sinus congestion
Fever (usually low grade) and/or chills
Frequent urination and/or urinary tract discharges
Drop in blood pressure
Skin eruptions, including: boils, hives, and rashes. Note: skin eruptions are often misdiagnosed as allergic reactions, resulting in the premature cessation of the cleansing program.
Cold or flu-like symptoms
You may think that you actually feel worse or that the treatment is not working at all during a cleanse. Do not despair. These are all signs that your treatment is working and that your body is going through the process of cleaning itself of impurities, toxins and imbalances.
Such reactions are temporary and can occur immediately -- or within several days, or even several weeks, of a detox. Symptoms usually pass within 1-3 days, but on rare occasions can last several weeks. If you are suffering from a major illness, the symptoms you experience during the healing crisis may be identical to the disease itself. A cleansing, purifying process is underway, and stored wastes are in a free-flowing state. Sometimes discomfort during the healing crisis is of greater intensity than when you were developing the chronic disease. This may explain why there may be a brief flare-up in one's condition. Often the crisis will come after you feel your very best. In fact, most people feel a surge of energy during the first few days of a cleanse. It is at that point that your body dumps toxins into the blood stream for elimination. Thus the healing crisis. Do not be upset. It means your body is eliminating the toxins. Go as slowly as your body needs to so that your elimination is gradual and comfortable.

With a more serious condition there may be many small crises to go through before the final one is possible. Everything must be considered and given its proper place in the build-up to a healing crisis. You should expect it and work with it.

Easing Your Way Through the Healing Crisis
Drink plenty of fresh water (especially water), (juices, and herbal teas **AFTER the cleanse ;)) to flush the body of toxins.
Use colon stimulation formula to make sure that you are eliminating waste promptly. Symptoms frequently disappear immediately after a good bowel movement.
Sometimes, rest is the best therapy.
(I have purposely omitted a few bullets due to the conflict they pose with the MC.)

Squid; you're as normal as pie. Oops, sorry. ;) When you feel bad, you're detoxing. What happens is, people have so many days of feeling good than when you hit a bad day it seems as if something is wrong. It's not. :) You're doing great and 7 Days is Fantastic! :D Keep going.

p.s. You have to take really good care of you. Think, "Pamper". Be kind to yourself and if you need to rest with your feet up while watching TV, do it without guilt. Your body is working hard on your behalf to clean you out and it's a dirty job. :)

I'm on day 6 and wondering if this cleanse is really working for me. Day 1 and 2, I had a headache and was slightly grumpy. But I don't feel much of anything bad going on, no stuffy nose, skin looks the same. My tongue is still white but not gross-out gross.

I remember doing 1-2 day fasting in high school that was really hard, just drinking water and a little juice. I feel like I should be feeling worse. Although I don't feel awesome yet, just really tired sometimes but not all the time.

Maybe I will switch to smaller batches and squeezing while I am at work. I usually do double batches of glasses, and drink usually only 6 glasses a day. I don't like drinking more than 3/4 cup of maple syrup in those 6 glasses. And in my double glass I have been using 1/4 teaspoon cayenne but rounded instead of flat. I don't know if I can drink more cayenne than that. It's pretty hot on my throat.

What do you think? I have lost about 5 lbs. so far, but I feel like I should have more detox symptoms.

Hairpin: Ask and ye shall receive. ;) If you try for one day or maybe for 3 glasses of lemonade, upping the cayenne I guarantee you'll have detox symptoms. I experimented on myself and it worked a little too well. :)

Good Evening Fellow Lemonheads!

Day 16 almost done. All in all it was a pretty good day. I've got some pain in my lower back and shoulder blades this evening. But, I love how grounded and positive I've been feeling the whole time! I've committed to go at least 20 now. In the beginning I was committed to 10, but I know for sure I need to go at least 4 more days......or more. One day at a time is my motto for this MC.

Leah--maybe the redness has something to do with the Cayenne--spicy foods trigger redness in some folks.

Squid--D7 is a big detox day so hang in there. 7 days is awesome!

Lemonyfresh--you asked about "spiritual awakenings". Well, nothing so dramatic as that for me but I have experienced a major shift in how I feel--clarity, centered, calm, focused, confident!

Happy cleansing one and all! See y'all tomorrow.

Beth

Day 4. Been feeling good. Had a headached on days 2 & 3, but that's pretty normal as my body breaks free from Starbucks.

Lady Lemon--I have some lower back pain too. It's just starting tonight, but I've had this before on one of my other MC's. I think it's my kidneys...anyone else have a thought on that?

Hey Hairpin - I'm just like you in terms of the no detox symptoms. This is my 3rd cleanse. First two were 10 days. No real detox symptoms and mostly felt great. Now I'm finishing up Day 13 of this 20-day cleanse, and still just going along like nothing's happening. I drink 6 glasses a day, I've doubled the cayenne the last few days, and I'm just feeling fine! I feel great, lighter, I'm sleeping better and my mood is very stable....all which is great! But sometimes, like you, I wonder why I'm not really having any detox symptoms.

Any thoughts out there for Hairpin and me??

I'm on day 12 more or less. I say nore or less because I got a little off kilter during the inauguration. I didn't eat anything but as toilet facilities were not available, I had to hold it plus my sleep schedule was really out of whack. Last night I didn't take the laxative and I didn't do the SWF this morning but I will resume that part tonight. So far I've felt good but, contrary to day 4 when I thought I was losing weight, I haven't actually lost any. :( My weight has remained steady. I don't know what that means. I've decided to go for another day because my tongue is yucky and it's actually more yellow than white.:p What does that mean?

And me too! I'm on day 11 of a planned 10 day cleanse and decided to keep going because I felt so well. The tip and sides of my tongue are pinkish (yey!) and outside of a pain in my shoulders and then it moved to my mid-back, I feel great. I trust in the process and know that what happens, happens but wondering if anyone has a similar experience as Hairpin and Colibrimhs (and me!).

Tks!

HEY RES:
It is swollen on the sides mostly because I am feeling in against my teeth. But it also seems just bigger in general. My tongue is also pretty hairy and white and cotton- y Tastes horrible. It feels like the lemon is getting to me. The last cleanse was 14 days and I dont remember this but it was going through a lot of detox cause it never wasnt really coated. It is pinker this time around but it has a long way to go.
It is never swollen when I am off the cleanse.
Thanks

I am on day three and at first I was feeling ok but I have had a few headaches of lately.
I dont know if it is because of a lack of sleep, I work nights and also have a one year old so that should speak for itself.
However on the flip side, I am not tired as I was before. I stopped eating meat to include chicken, I would only consume fish and veges, with that being said I feel a whole lot better, but my elimiations are not as I expected, frequency that is.

GOOD MORNING!
Thanks to the encouragement from my fellow lemonheads I finally arrived at Day 20!

This was my 4th MC. I've done 10, 14, and 3 days prior to this 20 dayer.

It was relatively easy sailing after day 5, but those first 5 days were tough. Flu like symptoms, night sweats, body aches and weird dreams. Then there were the typical temptations, sitting down with my friends at my favorite italian restaurant and watching them eat grilled artichokes and drink wine. The chef who knows me brought out two capers and a slice of lemon on a tea saucer as a joke ;). Everyone was extremely supportive. Then I took my wife to see Slumdog Millionaire last Friday and her popcorn smelled divine. I actually held the bag up to my nose and savored the boquet of that savory bit of americana. Great flick by the way! This last Wednesday it was family night at the country club- the menu isn't the greatest on that night - so no big deal but I could smell the ranch dressing on my wife's salad. When I start drooling over salad, I know it's time to resume normal eating habits.

Last night someone said I should probably stop before my pants fall off. They are a bit baggy, and I dropped a coat size- from 46 to 44- pretty cool- although I could lose another 5% bodyfat and 2 inches off my waistline.

OVERALL:
I dropped 22.5 lbs, lost 6.8% bodyfat and dropped my BMI 3.2 points
Cool Legumes Brothers and Sisters!

My weight, BF, & BMI seemed to hover the last few days even with exercise. I do feel great, have lots of energy and am happy. My tongue is not totally pinkalicious yet, but it is much clearer. The tip and sides are clear not the center rear.

SEE Y'ALL IN APRIL, THANKS RES!!

Good Morning! I am on day 4 and feeling good. This morning is going to be my first SWF, I have just been doing the tea morning and night so far. I have to admit, I am a little nervous. I like the idea of getting it out quickly though, the tea takes me about 4 hours. I am still in awe at the fact that I am not hungry and feeling so good. I really haven't had any negative side effects (yet). I am taking it one day at a time though, and appreciate everyone so much! It has made it so much easier reading about all of you, and the fact that yest. when I woke up, I had lost 5 lbs, couldn't believe that after only 3 days!!! Helps me stay motivated (even though weight loss was not my goal, it is such a nice side effect)

Happy Friday Lemonheads!! Day 5 for me. I feel pretty good except of lower back pain. It's not too bad and doesn't hurt when I stand up so I'll try to stay on my feet and moving most of the day. I haven't been hungry or had any cravings, but yesterday I took a nap and dreamt that I was eating a turkey sandwich--odd because I hardly ever eat a sandwich--and I woke up actually trying to take a bite out of the air. When I realized what I was doing I started cracking up!

I have been a little blue since yesterday afternoon, but maybe that's because it's cloudy here--I don't do clouds. Forecast says sunny this afternoon so I imagine I'll feel even better then!

Oh, I don't usually measure my cayenne because I know I put plenty, but yesterday I did measure and it turns out that I put 1/4 tsp per drink or more! And this is new cayenne so I know it's not weak. I knew I liked it hot but I had no idea :p

Good Morning People, this is day 12 for me, and Going strong. Let me just say that 90% of this cleanse is Mental for me. Yes, I think about Food, But I also feel so Great Cleansing my body. Part of that cleansing process is a Huge ZIT (on my cheek) the size of texas, But I know it is only for a short time :) I just wanted to say to everyone who may be struggling, take your mind off of the hunger pangs and drink the lemonade, it helps so much with the hunger AND UP THE CAYENNE TOO. Also what helps is making some popsicles or slushies with the lemonade to make it different. Another thing That helps me is meditating and reading a great book. Keep it up Gang the promise land of food will soon be near. As for me after My fast whenever I decide to end it, I will switch over to a vegetable juice fast and salads throughout the day for about 30 days. Lastly My Weight started at 226 I am now at 211. My goal is to reach about 180-186 for now...the pants are starting to fall off...Whew weee!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning Lemonheads!!

MC 1 Day 22
I'm 5' 7" my progress so far :

20 pounds lost so far (from 207 to 187 ). I am also losing major inches. My waist was a 38 and is at a 32 now. My biceps went from 17 inches to 14 inches. Hips lost 10 inches. Master Cleanse has been awesome. I also think the marine algae body wrap has also helped me detox more. I'm going to stay on the cleanse for 8 or 18 more days. My 29th birthday is February 6 so if I stay on I miss the sweets, but I gain more fat loss. So I'll probably skip the birthday eating. There is no time like the present to get my body in omptimal health. Since tomorrow isn't promised I'll focus on getting my body ecology together today.

Congrats GreenGoat! :D

DAY 3
Hey everybody! Feeling pretty good today. I am freezing, but that's to be expected. Just a little tired but as I mentioned yesterday I have a sick boyfriend who wakes me up at least once everynight with his coughing.

Hairpin, Colibrimhs, MysticalChick, Bobaggio - This is my 4th cleanse and (so far) I'm just a little tired. My first cleanse I was tired, crabby, achey - everything. 2nd cleanse just an occasional headache. 3rd cleanse I was exhausted the whole time. They're all different but each one I have still felt awesome at the end and gotten great results. ;)

Good Morning! MC2 DAY 17

Congrats GreenGoat! Woo Hoo! I'm 3 days behind you.

Angel Eyez you are doing so well, inspiring us all, and your results are incredibly awesome.

I've still got some lower back pain today. Face is clearing back up again. Good elimination with the SWF this morning. My tongue is turning pink on the tip and sides! How exciting. I do feel like my cleanse will come to a close at or around 20 days. It seems like a struggle for the first time.....to get through the last few days, but that could just be a mood I am in today, or maybe a signal to come off at 20. I feel great.

I bought some RAW cookbooks and started to take a look. I will have healthy recipes and ingredients all ready to go for post cleanse.

Have a terrific MC day one and all! Keep us posted on your progress!

good morning everyone! today is day 2 for me and i already want to give up :( i'm getting so dizzy and getting headaches, last night i was having heart palpitations and my hands were getting all tingly and turning white and red lol...weird! i just want to eat some food and have some energy. i couldn't do the salt water flush this morning because i'm having to train someone where i work, and i didn't want to be running back and forth the bathroom lol that would be kind of emberrassing. anyway, congrats green goat! and congrats to everyone else on all of your progress! :) xoxo!

MC 1 D10

Can't believe I made it to day 10!! I'm going to continue and take it a day at a time. I haven't had any notable detox symptoms in the past little bit, but I still crave junk food and my tongue is nasty. My tongue was somewhat whitish for the past few months, not just since I started the cleanse so I really believe I need to get deeper with this cleanse detox symptoms or no. My weight has stabilized the last 3 days, which although it's a bit dissapointing, is not a huge deal.

Day 10 and counting!

Greencoat - We'll miss ya! I'm going to join the April cleanse too, so see you and and many others then :)

I feel so bloaty, I could float away!

Day 12 here - no BM yesterday or yet today even after the SWF and a glass of lemonade. I do the Lax tea at night and in the am but so far, nothing is budging. I feel as if I'm not eliminating, I'm not detoxing and that concerns me.

Ideas?

Shane: I think the extra cayenne is great! Sounds like detox but watch it and if it swells to where you're having trouble breathing, stop the cleanse and get to the doctor.

Hello my lemon scented friends,
Day 5 MC2
I jumped on the scale after my SWF flushed me away for the first time since day 1. I started this at 197.6 and am so very pleased to be at 189. Its given me a nice boost. Congrats to green goat... great work! Is there anyone else around day 5 looking to go the distance? I was planning on two weeks, but now I'm feeling like 3 would be a better goal for me all things considered. Green goat is inspiring! Matter of fact all you guys are. This board and the people on it make this alot easier.
You are all rock stars!

Hi everyone, MC 1, day 4. I did the SWF this morning for the first time, and it was way more horrible than I expected. I think I spent so much time worrying about getting it down, I did not even think about what the result would be. I got it down fine, but then for the next hour or 2 had bad flu-like symptoms, and of course now the very sore, you know. Is it ok, if I skip the SWF and just stick to the tea for the next day or so? Please say ok. My well, you know can't handle any more!:o
I also had the F-its about the whole thing, and that is the first time I have really wanted to quit. I guess I really spoke to soon earlier about not having any symptoms. ugh. I am going to hang in there, and now that I feel back to "normal" I am a LOT happier!:)
Have a great day!

Hi All:

This is day one for me. I am totally fixated on eating. I know I just need to be patient and get past this. I am at work and I do tend to eat a lot of small meals during the day so I'm not surprised to be feeilng this way. Unfortunately, I underestimated how much lemonade I would need to get through the work-day and I only have one serving left. I'ts only 1:00! I've been drinking a serving about every hour and a half because my stomach starts rumbling (to the point of distraction) if I don't. I'll do better with my preparations on Monday, but I'm sure glad I have the weekend to settle into this. I am committed. Good luck to all!

Hi Lemonyfresh! I'm on day 5, but I'm not sure how long I'm going to go. Surely the 10 days, but after that I like to take it just one day at a time. I feel less pressure that way and am more likely to really listen to my body on when I should start eating again. I've done the MC a number of times for 10 days only and a few times longer. My longest was 23 days--that was cool. :p

Enjoy your day five!

Hey lemonyhead, I am on day 5 right now too, but you are on day seven or eight, maybe even nine now I'm guessing? Nothing major going on. I might try and go for longer than the ten days but with the superbowl parties etc, i dunno if i will be able to. I haven't really had many detox symptoms, and after taking the salt water bath for the first time yesterday, i will try it again tomorrow. I am putting in the required amount of cayenne etc....

Why no detox symptoms? I'm gonng hit the gym right after this herbal laxative leaves my system, i can't afoord to buy the gym a new treadmill!!

Lemonyfresh, I'm on day 6 with a goal of 40 days. I have a couple of injuries I'd like to try and heal, and need the healing benefits of a longer cleanse. Last February I injured my right forearm during a pull up. I heard and felt a ripping sensation over about a 4" stretch. It still doesn't feel totally healed when I put a heavy load on it. I'd like to start working out again, and I'm hoping a longer cleanse will remedy that. I've also got a issue with my right knee that could use a little lemon magic.

Happy Cleansing... Ed

JESSIKALA7 i'm with you on day 2 and i'm so hungry and tired/ lethargic, i just wish i had energy so i could do things to keep my mind off eating.
i'm a stay at home mom and i often find myself eating out of boredom so maybe that's what this is, maybe i'm not hungry, i just want to eat!

Jessilika and Brandilin: I'm on Day 5 and I can totally relate to the 2 of you! I have wanted food so badly I was avoiding being near it all together! However, I found the more I'm around food, the easier it is to deal with my hunger. I made lunch for my roommate, and getting back into the swing of making a meal actually eased my anxiety about food! I don't think it's really the hunger talking to me, it's more that I never realized how much of my life was consumed (no pun intended) by food.

Sunnyshine and Lemonyfresh: I'm also on day 5, and I don't know how long I'm going to go, but it's nice to know there are other people right where I am! It makes me feel less like I'm alone in this thing!

AngelEyes: You are an inspiration! Amazing results, and seeing what you've accomplished really makes me feel like I can do it. It reminds me why I started, and why I need to stick with it. Thank you!

I'm on day three of my 4th MC and have a question. I have been taking an all natural prostate supplement and it seems to have started to work I would like to continue, although I know nothing is to be taken besides ingredients for cleanse. My question is if I decide to stay on it will it just get washed out of my system like in the book Peter says to wait until your done to take Probiotics-they will get washed away? Also in the original book by Burroughs he says if your looking to lose weight 6 drinks would be optimal, but it seems to me the more drinks (12) the better the cleanse and the better your body would be able to function and drop the weight after the cleanse.

Any input helpful.8)8)8) Thanks

Christian, most likely just like the probiotics it could get washed out of your system.

You drink based on your hunger. I usually start out the first 2 days drinking around 9 and then it's 6 for the rest of the cleanse. Some days I don't want any but you HAVE to drink the minimum of 6.

Thank you Res for the advice about upping the cayenne to 1/4 teaspoon/glass. I tried that yesterday and woo... It made me feel kind of stoned (can I say that) or giddy which wasn't a bad thing. Haha. I was definitely laughing and feeling good despite looking not together. I'm doing the same amount of cayenne but feeling normal today. Maybe I should wait till the end of the day and see how I feel before upping the cayenne intake more, to be safe.

Hairpin, my vote is that you can say "stoned". after reading your post i remembered that i did actually up my cayenne in my last drink then took a nap, now i feel great. i too enjoy cooking, although this morning i got some peanut butter on my finger and licked it!! :D ahhh sweet peanut butter how i miss my old friend

Christian & BaileysMama ~ I think the reason you are listed as newbies and junior members is because all of our posts got deleted somehow!!!!!!! I'm now listed as a junior member also with barely any posts, but I was a member and had a TON of posts in Oct/Nov of 2008......then when I logged back in now in January I was a newbie again with like 4 or 5 posts!!!!! But if you look around, the ENTIRE THREAD for "How are you doing 2008" is completely missing....so that makes sense since BaileysMama last posted in October2008 also..... So I think that is what happened.... Does anyone know why the 2008 thread was deleted??? Anyone else have any thoughts/ideas on our status changes?????

Well, this cleanse ends for me this evening. I feel really good but decided I wanted to have some yummy food (I am so wanting a big big salad!) so I stopped here at 12 days. I will be doing it again, most likely in the spring.

Just a quick note to those who are doing it for the first time - this was my first time, I am someone who has a history of "half-assing" things so I didn't have a lot of faith that I could pull it off but I did. It's one of my big accomplishments because it helped me reframe what I actually could do. I gained a lot of self confidence through it and lost a bunch of pounds and got healthier in the bargain. Doesn't get too much better than that.

So, trust in yourself. If *I* can do it, ANYone can. :D

Thanks to everyone who provided support to me on this journey. I will be back! (Heading over to the raw food section now.)

Peace out.

I just joined this board and wanted to post a new thread, but am unable to for some weird reason. Anyway, I'm on my first day... mere hours.. and I'm already having second thoughts. It's not because I don't want to go through with this. Far from that actually. My main concern and reason for wanting to quit is my constipation. I have severe constipation & was hoping that this fast would help me resolve my issues with it; however, I keep reading mixed opinions about this.

My first thought about this diet was that anything that would help rid my stomach and colon of excess waste and detox my organs would be beneficial to relieving the source of my problem. Not to mention, it would help me break my addictions to alcohol and caffeine (which both inhibit my ability to defecate by 1) dehydrating me and 2) becoming the necessary force to make me relieve myself.) However, now I'm hearing that it's actually NOT recommended for people with severe constipation because it eliminates the need to go and your stomach muscles don't feel the need to contract. I already have that issue, severely, and am dependent on caffeine to produce a bowel movement. Will this worsen my symptoms or make them better? Is the salt water mix and the senna going to further become a crutch? PLEASE SOMEONE WITH EXPERIENCE, HELP!!!

I'm on Day TEN and doing fabulous. It's Jan 24 and I plan to at least finish the month. Every day my energy has increased (the book isn't joking when it says if you feel tired or hungry, drink more). I'm much more mindful of the cravings when they come - noticing them and letting them drop away. I've lost 12 pounds. I'm exercising every day now and still have energy. Don't know whether it makes sense to work out with weights though, since there is no protein coming in....

WOOOO HOOOO!!!! I'm starting Day 9 of my cleanse and I'm starting to feel pretty good. Day 7 was hard and I wanted to quit but Day 8 was so much better. I still miss food though because everywhere you look there are people eating and commercials. I went to the store to buy more MS and saw all the terrific veggies to have when I break the fast. I am so looking forward to having that vegetable soup!!!! I've also noticed I am shifting my eating habits to wanting to eat more healthy with more veggies and fruit. Sorry to say that I still will be eating meats but MUCH LESS of it thats for sure. Long story short, thanks everyone for the terrific posts. You're stories and responses have been so positive for me and it got me through this. Day 10 is tomorrow and I'll be done with my first cleanse. I think I've inspired my neighbor to do it too. He's borrowing my book and going to start it soon. I'll post another response in a couple days with my results. I always liked reading peoples day to day results. Later Lemonheads!

Good Morning Fellow Lemonheads! :) Hope everyone is having a good morning! :)
Getting a late start on my SWF today...just finished gulping it down....yyyyuuuuucccccckkkkk!!!!! :o Oh well, 2 minutes of yuckiness in a day ain't bad. I actually love the taste of the lemonade and haven't gotten bored of it yet! :p I've been making dinners for my family every night and it doesn't really bother me, but last night I made them barbeque chicken....and the house smelled like BBQ sauce ALL NIGHT and it really started getting to me! I just wanted to quit and EAT!!!!! It was a rough night! So I thought I'd just go to bed and that would help me forget about it.....woke up this morning and guess what my house STILL smells like!!!!????!!!! AAAGGGHHH!!!!!! So the moral of the story is...DON'T cook wonderful foods with strong smells unless you really really want to torture yourselves! ;) I won't be making that again anytime soon!

GOOD MORNING FELLOW LEMONHEADS!

MC2 DAY 18

Happy Saturday. I hope all the SWFs going on out there are productive! I'm still doing the sprint back and forth to the bathroom thanks to sleeping in. I was an active member of the "Pooped in Your Pants Club" during the first 10 days, but seem to have gotten a handle on things. I'm still taking things one day at a time, so I'm not sure how much longer I will go. My tongue is starting to clear up more and more. Still white on the rear in the center. Feeling awesome and proud!!!

TreLynn--Oh, I think you'll make it this attempt! Hang out on this board and I bet these Lemonheads will inspire you to keep going each day! We are here to support so visit us often!

Scrapattack--Being around food has actually been a good experience for me--I like to experience it without eating it--the smells and the sights give me an odd sense of satisfaction. This doesn't work for some people--I've heard others talk about finding ways to avoid having to cook.....stay strong!

Alexkarma--I don't think you can go wrong doing this cleanse, especially given your circumstances. Many folks have written about using the MC successfully to help kick addictions the same addictions (alcohol, tobacco, caffeine). Cleaning yourself out can give you a great jumpstart into better habits in the future designed to keep you "moving" in a helathy, natural way. It will make you feel wonderful and be such a treat for your body. I say, cleanse away! Good luck and let us know how you fare!

Have a terrific day everyone! Keep up the spirit one and all.

Would love to hear more thoughts on weight training during the cleanse. I weight train 2-3 times/week and was planning to keep up with it during this cleanse. Dianthoma - you make a great point about the protein and yesterday I'd been wondering about that too. Does anyone have any kind of authority for an answer on this one? alex: For the duration of the cleanse the LAX tea and SWF combo will definitely help with constipation. If you suffer from constipation normally you need to take a look at your diet. What has your doctor said about it?

After the cleanse your bowels return to normal. If your normal is constipation at the risk of repeating myself, you need to look at your diet. There are a LOT of foods that can help such as, prunes, figs, fiber in fruits and vegetables, water, exercise.

The Master Cleanse is a detox method. It's not the answer to it all. :) It's a HUGE help and gives you time to take your eating habits into account and change them if necessary.

I hope this helps.

Hello everyone! Im on my 4th cleanse day 4! Feeling great and this one is my most active. I have been walking a few miles a day.. nothing to crazy. Stomach is still a little unpredictable in the mornings i dont want to shake things up to much...meaning im not going to be going to tae-bo class after the SWF. haha.

Ok here's my thing.. i do great on the cleanses i last about 12-14 days average. The hardest part for me is gradually going back to food. The veg. soup..etc... how many days of soup and liquid type food are really recoomended? I usually do veg. soup the first day off the cleanse. But by the second day im kinda venturing into raw veggies, salads, hummus, blue corn chips (my downfall!).. is this really affecting my body, digestion, wieght loss..progress?

Someone knock some sense into me... i want this one to be the best one yet!

Hope everyone is having a great saturday morning.. Im in orlando.. its been freeeezing all week. Finally its starting to warm up:)

dianthoma: The difference for me is huge. But it's difficult to give a general answer that would apply to everyone because we're all different. After day 15 (for me) the fat on my body begins to melt. I can run my hands down my sides and where there *was a lump or handle there no longer is. :)

It's important to listen to your body and although that may sound vague - it's not. No one can tell you how you'll know when it's time to end, you'll just know. :)

Me too! Me too! Vegetables are looking really good to me right now. I'm surprised that I am not that distracted by sweet treats.

I have not lost that much weight and I am concerned that the cayenne pepper I was using was not that effective. This weekend I'm going to ramp it up and make sure I get detoxing. Maybe I will have to do this longer than 10 days...

Also I am going to a long evening event on Sunday. There most likely won't be food but there will be drinking. I'll have to make sure to get all my lemonade in and then drink lots of water. I sure hope I don't get tempted to drink anything. Maybe I can smell my husband's scotch and be happy. Worked for pregnancy. :D

I'm on day 6 of my third cleanse. I have always followed the book to the letter. This time, however, something kind of scary happened. I just pooped out two little worms. They were alive! Moving around in the toilet! Does this mean I have (or maybe HAD at this point) parasites? I thought that the MC wasn't for clearing out parasites! Just a bit freaky....

Outside of that, here's my experience this time around: About two months ago, I quit coffee altogether and began a mostly vegan diet (still eating eggs). I believe those changes are what have made this cleanse such a pleasant experience. NO CRAVINGS AT ALL! It's wonderful. I can cook for my family without wanting for anything. Although the thought does cross my mind sometimes. My tongue is already turning pink. It's so easy this time around!

Advice about burning bowels: clean with baby wipes! I use the sensitive kind but they also come with Vitamin E and Aloe. It really helps.

Hi there!
Its day 10 for me. Been pretty tired the past couple of days and having headaches, but no headache so far today. Part of the tiredness is due to my work schedule, been a little hectic, but part, I know cause of the cleanse. I was hoping the cleanse would help clear up this rash or whatever it is I have on my face but so far it has gotten worse. I know things get worse before they get better, but being that its on my face, I made a dermatologist appt for next week. Hopefully, it will start to clear before then but if not hopefully he can treat it.
So far, lost 7 lbs, happy about that, plan to keep on going, maybe 30 days?

And Res, I ordered the coconut oil I heard you mention from iherb. Ordered it on Tuesday, got it on Wednesday! And didn't realize how big a tub it would be, quite a deal for the price. Thanks!

Good Day Fellow Lemonheads...

Day 7 and smooth sailing the past few days. Even watched a couple hours of the Food Channel last night. Love Diners, Drive-ins & Dives. I cooked at a local restaurant on my last two MCs (14 & 10 days). Glad I'm not doing that again. :D

Congrats to everyone for making it another day... Ed

I did the exact same thing! I turned on the Food Network at 5, and couldn't turn it off! My roommate came down and asked why I was torturing myself. Haha, I'm glad to know someone else is indulging.

Well friends, I fell off the wagon, so to speak, last night when socializing, so Day 10 was my last day for this time. I'm so happy with my progress and the health benefits of doing the cleanse and am really looking forward to the next cleanse! Maybe I'll go longer!! I'm going to try to incorporate better eating habits and will experiment a bit with raw food :)

Happy cleansing. You all made this a much more supported, easier and fun process for me!!!

dianthoma: The difference for me is huge.

I'm glad you said this Res. I'm on Day 15 - 3/4 way through - yeah! This is the first day when I'm starting to be really tired of this whole thing. I still feel great, no real de-tox symptoms, plenty of energy most of the time (as long as I keep up with my LAs). I know I can make it to my planned 20 days, but I'm just kinda tired of not being able to plan dinners with friends, etc. I'm making all kinds of yummy meals for my kids, and that doesn't bother me at all. In fact it's good if I sit with them and watch them eat....I can "taste" what they're eating (in my mind) and I feel as though I've eaten.

Not that I want to feel bad...but I would feel as though I'm accomplishing more if I had some de-tox symptoms. My tongue is definitely not pink yet. I decided last Tuesday that I would not weigh myself again until Monday, so I don't know how much more weight I've lost. I'd sure like to experience the "fat melting" as you describe. I'm 48 and fat doesn't melt so easily as it used to.

So, I guess I"m just blabbering now. I feel good, but ready to move on. I'm still planning on completing the 20 days. I'm going to start looking at the raw food recipes because finally I'm craving really good stuff, not just my usual cheese, crackers, and pizza. I take that as a good sign that I'll eat better this time than after my first two 10-day cleanses.

I know there are some other folks on Day 15 too - let's stick together - all of us who are in our "teens"!!! We can do it!

Good Afternoon! I am on day 5, halfway there! I Have a question. Yest. I drank a "bubbly water" and really wish I had not. My belly is still bloated and gurgleing. I also have gained back the 5 lbs that I lost day 3. I am trying not to get discouraged, but after the SWF I think I was just a little down and wanting to "treat myself", and I think I reasoned that "it's just water". Anyone have experience with this? I definitly will not drink another. Have I ruined all of my good cleansing? I did have some really good eliminations this morining, from the tea. Any thoughts??? Thanks!

US Weekly GOT IT WRONG!

I just got back from the gym, where I was reading this week's US Weekly on the treadmill. They have a section on "Hollywood's Crazy Cleanses" and mention the Master Cleanse. However, the description is completely wrong. They describe it as an "ultrastrict 14-day 600-1300 calories a day plan (drinking a mix of lemon juice, water, maple syrup and cayenne pepper, AND EATING FISH)".

For anyone who makes it to this website because of this article, it's a 10-day cleanse and there is NO fish. I would recommend anyone interested in starting a Master Cleanse to read Stanley Burroughs' book "The Master Cleanser" which has all of correct directions. When I bought it a couple of years ago, it was only $6.50, and I have found the entire text online on occasion too. But don't listen to what US Weekly has to say.

I would also note that the nutritional expert suggests 2-days on, 1-day off, which is not what Stanley Burroughs recommends.

There are plenty of people on this website who can attest to the fact that MC makes them feel great when done correctly and I don't happen to think its as crazy as the magazine makes it out to be.

The gossip in that magazine is fun, but one should not be taking cleanse advise from it.

It's day 24 for me - heading for 40 or pink tongue. I prefer to go for the pink tongue.

I finally got my husband to join me. He started yesterday, so hopefully he'll got the 16 days or so...

I feel good. Slightly disappointed in only having lost 17.5 lbs. (Actually it looks like more having written it down... :))

I'm just so tired of battling with lack of energy and yo-yo weight. My 30th reunion is coming up this June and I really want to look fabulous.

I'm going to start planning my food (as raw and vegan as I can stand for as long as possible). I realize that your body craves what you put in it. My goal is to plan out 6-8 weeks of meals to fill my body with good food. Planning ahead both appeals and works for me....

Hang in there everyone - this is by far the least expensive most effective detox you can do. Remember, you're worth it.

Hello everyone - been away for a few days - DAY 20 - had a rough day yesterday only got 4 drinks in and a little water.
Stress and work obligations just left me unprepared. Really bumbed when I went to bed last night but trying to have a better attitude today.

We have a supper and movie tonight with our freinds and my husband isn't real happy that I haven't gone off the cleanse yet. They planned this outing 2 weeks ago when he knew I was on the 10 day cleanse but I just didn't feel I was ready to quit - I am still longing for the "healthy pink tongue" - so I have a challenge tonight. I have eluded going out to eat this whole time and only dealt with it at home. I asked if I could just drop them off and go walk around one of the local stores till they were done but I don't know if that will fly.

I am getting burnt out but would like to last through the end of the week next week or possible even push to 30 days.

Colibrimhs - I do have to agree that after day 15 the skin and body changes are more noticable to me and of course I like that since I have alot of body changes I would like to see. I weighed yesterday morning before working out and was down 16 lbs so that was an added benifit. I think I am at an emotional part of the cleanse - they are flying all over worse than pms.

Vgee - So glad you didn't quit -

EVERYONE - Keep up the good work - your postings are a great help to get through and stay motivated when you need that extra push!

Hello all you out in Lemon Land! Day 6 here--I know there are a few other day 6ers. Hope it's going well!

So Res inspired me to up my cayenne and it's been a whole new ballgame here. I made my last 4 drinks yesterday with 1/2tsp each in them and WHOA! Today I've been doing rounded 1/2 tsp, so really like 3/4 tsp. Talk about HOT TAMALE! My lips are on fire, there's burning hot lava running all the way down to my stomach, and then I get warm and tingly everywhere! What a sensation!! Is cayenne an aphrodisiac??? ;)

Hello everyone!
Just wanted to check in and hopefully give some added encouragement to those who are currently cleansing...i finished my first 10 day cleanse this past wednesday, and so far so good! I'm definitely eating healthier, had a few bites of meat here and there, but that's it...just BITES and i was satisfied. I actually didn't want to eat any meat again. Not to mention the fact that i felt horribly full after i tried it, and i wanted to get back to the feeling of lightness that i was experiencing during my cleanse. It was my curiousity, thats all...LOL! I had to try it, and see. LOL!:o
The oranges were divine, as was the vegetable soup, and now i'm sticking to mostly salads. What's even better is that all i'm craving is VEGETABLES! I'm one of those people that was a true carnivore, so the fact that i havent torn into a steak yet is awesome! haha...funny cuz that's what i was craving the most while i was cleansing. Lets hear it for detoxing! I don't even WANT meat right now...so crazy!
At first i didn't notice too much of a weight loss, but i found that i lost a total of 10lbs in the end...woo-hoo! I'm gonna do everything i can to stay below 140lbs, and that includes eating healthy and working out at least every other day.
I'm so grateful to have found this cleanse, and this board. It's what kept me going through the tough days. To those of you who are on your way, keep it up! The end results will be SO WORTH IT...good luck on your journeys, and i shall see you back here, maybe at the end of march, or beginning of april? I'm gonna try to go for at least 2 weeks next time around....HAPPY CLEANSING EVERYONE!

Greetings fellow cleansers...

Day 2 for me and WHOA major headache came on this afternoon. I felt pretty good until then. Slept well last night. I did notice when I was out in public earlier today that I had very little patience and was quite irritable. Better to stay on my couch under a blanket with my laptop or book. Having a hard time staying warm so I have been warming up my lemonade today. That helps. Looking forward to seeing what day 3 brings. I am so in awe of all of you. Especially those who are 20+ days into the cleanse. That's awesome. Congrats!!

I am still having trouble getting 6 glasses down a day. I am not sure why. Too Busy?? Not hungry?? Not sure. I am trying to do better.

I wish I never told anyone that I was cleansing. Everyone thinks that I have lost my mind. Really.

Not really body acheing, but terrible sinuses and EXTREMELY Watery/Swollen Eyes. It feels like im having major allergy attacks every 10 or so mins. Do these sound like detox symptoms, or am I getting sick? Thanks in advance

HI all! I started my 2nd MC this past Monday--am on day 6 and feel great--went to the gym and did an hour of cardio this AM--still can't believe the amount of energy I have when I do the cleanse. Tonight was a bit tough-Saturdays are my family's day to plan a nice meal (either in or out) and be together so it was tough sitting on the couch while they were all eating in the next room :( but I lived. I do think about food almost all day, but I am finding the smell is welcome and sometimes all I need. I have lost 2 lbs so far, but to tell you the truth-not as concerned with weight loss this go round. My face is clear, my eyes are bright, I've got good energy--honestly, what more could you ask for?
Good luck everybody!

Hey laurab: I'm not sure who you were talking to here, but I for one am still going for 20! I'm finishing Day 15, so we're just about together on this! Oooh, I'm so encouraged to hear that your hearing is better. I'm hoping for the "big drainage" you're talking about.

A couple of people have said to me that after Day 15 they notice more changes. Looking forward to my next 5 days!

It is interesting our thoughts about food. It's becoming so clear to me that it's not just food for our body...but it's food for our soul too. And we should indeed thoroughly enjoy it! I'm hoping to have a renewed appreciation for food once off this 20-day cleanse. Truly savoring every bite of HEALTHY food...knowing it's nourishing my mind, body, and soul. Ahhhh.

Hang in there - you're doing great!

Hi BB in BNA. There are a few of us on this forum who also are not having many detox symptoms. I'm finishing Day 15, and still none. I still believe I must be cleansing and releasing toxins. We'll see what the next 5 days bring.

Well here it is time for me to finally get serious with my health. I went to the doc on Friday and he said I really need to get my health in order from my weight, sleep apnea (because of my weight), blood sugar (again weight), and high blood pressure (hmmmm what's the common thread??). This has all kind of popped up within the last six months but has gotten a lot worse in the last two. So....I think that this will be the jump start to the healthy life I use to always lead and fall off this grease truck that I have been riding for WAY to long. Time for the tea. Fortunately I enjoy the SWF (don't hate me) and only choke down the tea. Wish I could do SWF all the time! Day one here I come and disciplne....UGGHHHHH please be there. Mind over matter and health over death!
Good luck to all! :p

ScrapAttack--My greatest benefits? Hum...quite a few.

TOP TEN GREATEST BENEFITS SO FAR...
1--Insomnia gone, sleeping like a baby (this was so bad it was the catalyst to start this MC)
2--Eyes clear, skin clear, BRAIN clear
3--Hyperness gone, now calm, grounded, and patient
4--Body feels light and clean
5--Not having to do anything about food or meals freeing up time and simplifying life
6--Upbeat, confident, proud of keeping (exceeding) a promise to myself about this cleanse
7--Lost some weight after the first 10 days passed--nice bonus
8--MC prompted me to reflect and make some new decisions about my health post cleanse
9--Becoming an active member of the poop-in-your-pants-club and not feeling one ounce of embarassment
10--Love hanging out here with a bunch of terrific lemonheads!

Wow, it makes happy writing these down! Thanks for asking and happy cleansing!

[QUOTE=rachelgracemusic;66620]I'm on day 6 of my third cleanse.

That IS weird... it's my first cleanse and I'm finishing day 6 and for the past two days I've been feeling like something wants to come out when I go poop but I can't eliminate it yet. I wonder what the worms are... you sure they were alive and moving about and not just floating looking worms? I'm curious to know!
How you feeling?

scrapattack16
January 25th, 2009, 02:52 AM
Thanks LadyLemon, those were some great benefits! (Except #9, which I don't want to experience. ;)) I've finished Day 5--Yay!, and need to be sleeping. (I suffer from insomnia as well.) While it still takes me a long time to fall asleep, I feel that the quality of my sleep has vastly improved on the MC. Other benefits for me include clear-mindedness, brighter skin, and actually wanting to eat much healthier after I break the MC. (I'm craving veggies, legumes, fruits & nuts more than usual.) Also, and I don't know if this always a benefit, but my sense of smell seems to have gotten 10 times stronger.

There are also several things that I really want to experience but haven't yet. I'm a little discouraged by the fact that I haven't lost as much weight as I'd like to even though I'm consuming far fewer calories than I normally would. In Burroughs' book, he says most people lose approximately 2 pounds per day. In that case I should have already lost 10 pounds, but I definitely haven't. Since you said you lost weight after 10 days, does that mean you didn't lose any the first 10 days? I also haven't had a significant increase in energy yet, but I would LOVE that. I'd also really appreciate seeing a reduction in cellulite, as it seems that clearing out so many toxins might lead to that. Most importantly, I'd love a spiritual breakthough! If anyone would like to share if they've experienced any of these and by what day, I'd love to hear about it!! Or just any benefits that they deem significant. It gives me great encouragement to hear of others' benefits. Thanks & best of luck to everyone! :)

Day 14

Hey Tiggerbaby! I am still here with you. My tounge is still icky too so I am going to hang in there with you until it clears up. Is it getting harder? Not really, but I am just getting bored with it. And the thought just entered my head that the Superbowl is next weekend and if I want to eat normal I would have to break my cleanse starting in the next coulpe of days which I am not prepared to do.

I did up my water intake and I think that mad me feel a little better. I have not been on the scale for a week so I don't know what my weightloss is but I think I will weight myself tomorrow morning just to check. (I had my daughter hide the scale so I couldn't weigh myself- I wanted to focus on the cleanse aspect and not the weightloss and I was becoming scale obsessed")

One thing that does keep me going is, one of my employees said to me Friday, "I am going to go home and cook a big steak on the grill. Don't that sound good?" I said, "Right now I could break my cleanse for Outback Steak House." Then he said," Oh NO! You gotta keep going. BESIDES I DIDN"T THINK YOU WOULD MAKE IT THIS FAR." WT??????

Have a good day Lemonheads and Happy Cleansing!:D

Chirinium and RachelGrace Music: In Peter's book (Lose Weight, Have More Energy & Be Happier in 10 Days, which I re-read each time I cleanse to remind me of the benefits and side-effects of the MC), he talks about how if you do have parasites, the cleanse will help with them. These worms feed off of the "waste matter" so as you get rid of it, you get rid of them. So its great news that you're doing this. Better out than in!

ScrapAttack: My day of spiritual breakthrough is always Day 8, like clockwork for some reason. I'm not generally a spiritual person, but its always a fantastic day for me. The sense of serenity is fantastic. Commentary from other people has generally seen that breakthrough in the 6-10 range, so it can vary. But you'll know when you get there and its worth waiting for. As for weight-loss, this is my fifth MC and it has varied every time. As for energy, I never get a huge burst of energy and am always a bit more tired, but I still have enough energy to workout, etc. Some of this is mind over matter, I think. It may be tougher to get off the couch to go to the gym, but its not like its painful once you get there.

I'm at Day 3 and this is when I always feel fully committed. My biggest challenge with the MC is finding the time to fit it in, and I have had a couple of false-starts in the early days before that didn't let me continue. Am feeling good so far, although the weather in the NorthEast (its currently 8 degrees out) is not helping with my constant feeling of cold when i'm on this. However, my building is so overheated that its almost 80 in my apt and I've been snuggled under a blanket on the couch. Guess the trick is to not go outside.... :)

Happy Cleansing!

MC1 Day 3

Did the SWF for the first time today - I think I was afraid of it. I have to say, not so bad! Got the SWF down without any problem, though it wasn't what I would call pleasant. I think the key for me is to drink it fast, count the swallows and try not to stop. And whatever you do, DO NOT let the salt water sit in your mouth. I did that right near the end of the 32 oz. container and that was it for me. I had to spit it out. But I got 99% of it down and it within 45 minutes it worked like a charm. In fact, it's still working. No cramps. Just frequent elimination. yay. Hope you all have a great Sunday! Hang in there.

DAY 19
ONE MORE DAY TO GO!!
MY TONGUE IS PINK!1!

Since day 10 I have been taking the MC on a day by day basis, trying to let my body tell me when it is time to finish. Tomorrow will be my last day, making this a total of 20 days. It's been a terrific experience. I can't believe my tongue cleared up. After hearing so many stories I was grateful to see some pink appear a few days ago. The all-over pink I see this morning is sending me into euphoria! Yay!

Keep plugging lemonheads. It is worth it, worth it, worth it.

Tiggerbaby--I experienced the same thing--time was crawling during some of the days after the initial 10. This was my first time (except for an earlier failed attempt at 5 days only), and I hope next time it gets a little easier on the extended days. Maybe it's a mindset? I only committed to 10 and the first 10 were easy. After that, I was in a daily debate about whether or not to continue. Next time I will commit to a minimum of 20.

Scrapattack--I did not really lose much or any weight during the initial 8 days then started to drop. I am not much overweight at all, but managed to drop a size during the second part. Went from size 6 to size 4. Very happy with that--fitting into some suits I haven't been in for about a year.

SWF done for today, headed out for church. Lots to be thankful for!

Happy Cleansing!

Beth

colibrimhs: I got pretty tired of it too around Day 15 but I knew I wasn't ready to end. Having done the cleanse several times I know my *magic* point in the journey and that helps me to keep going no matter what.

I have a hard time losing weight. My body wants to hold on to it (hypothyroid issue) and I've tried other things to lose and never have anywhere near the results I do on the cleanse.

WHERE ELSE can you lose up to 20 - 30 lbs in one month. Wayne lost 22 lbs in under 2 weeks was it? Granted, men lose faster than women but even the commercials on TV that try to sell you "toxic junk" to help lose weight only promise 2 -3 lbs a week. The CLEANSE which uses natural ingredients to help facilitate the weight loss isn't a scam. People would not continue to sign up every year if it didn't work.

Nothing out there is going to keep the weight off of any of us *magically* without our own intervention. WE are responsible for our own weight maintenance. We take better care of our cars than we do our own bodies. The MC will call most people to account for their diets and most of us make drastic changes to take better care of ourselves and our families when we're done. It's a wonderful learning "process" that takes a bit of time but what a FUN Journey it is!! :)

People ending their cleanses often remark that they're sad it's ending. lol :) I know the feeling. It's fun being here with everyone whose going through the same thing for a positive purpose. :) BUT, we'll always be here when you return.

It doesn't end there - we have a raw food forum where you can either just read or participate in "After The Cleanse". You can either buy raw recipe books or scan the "Lemonhead Recipe" box. It has enough to get you started and keep you going for probably a month. Not all recipes are raw - there are loads of healthy cooked food recipes as well. :)

HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYBODY!! :D

Is cayenne an aphrodisiac??? ;) Hahaha, I don't know. You tell us. ;)

Be prepared to hit detox hell if you up your cayenne. I made the mistake of doing so in the middle of the work week and it took me three days of NOT upping it to get over it. Gradually work your way up. I kind of jumped WAY up. :o

Almost Done
I am on Day 18 of my second Master Cleanse. My first one was two years ago. That one lasted 12 days.
I decided to do this cleanse after the first one removed the arthritis from my left hand, and it never returned. With more pain and far less mobility in my neck than ever before, I wanted to see if I could get some relief and regain some agility with the cleanse. It appears to have given me some improvement. I have a greater range of movement when I turn my head from right to left and the pain has lessened.
My plan is to quit my cleanse tomorrow. I have had a massage scheduled for that date since before I began. I have decided that this will be a wonderful way to conclude the program.
Because I was travelling all last week, I had to use the laxative tea both morning and evening in lieu of the SWF. I had already become accustomed to the 5:00 a.m. rumbles, and that very quick run to the bathroom. However, it seemed to intensify in the absence of daily SWF. Today, I returned to the morning SWF. Strange how something so unpleasant is welcomed after a six day absence. I was curious to see if it was any less unpleasant. No, it is just as before.
For those of you who travel, I would suggest that this is a very easy regime to maintain while on the road. Just carry a small bottle of cayanne pepper, 2 liter plastic bottle, regular water bottle with ounce markings made along the side, small hand juicer, and a funnel to make transfer efficient. Here in Florida, the Publix supermarket chain carries Grade B maple syrup. This made it easy to pick up supplies as I needed them. Even considering my lemonade preparation time, I estimate that I picked up two hours of extra time every day because I wasn't bothering with restaurants.
It has been a good cleanse. I can truly say that I feel better and that my energy level has improved. If you are reading this and you are on any of the first few days of the program, please have faith. It gets much easier as you go on. My best wishes to all.

I was at my meditation gathering last night and I realized how much more involved I felt. There was pure joy in the chanting and moving. My Day 6 was coming to an end. After the meditation, a meal was served. I had the tendency to run away at that point before the food arrived, but despite the delicious smell of soup and the bread going around, I was surprised at how "detached" I felt from it. I highly appreciated it and knew it must've tasted great, but there was no inner struggle with wanting-but-not-getting pain going on inside me. I had some lemonade in a bottle with me in my bag. Once I left the center, I took a few gulps and I was fine. (Feels like Asterix's magic potion that he drinks to get his super powers :p)

Today is Day 7. I dreamed I bought a thyme sandwich but only took half of it (instead of my greedy self eating it whole) and also ordered freshly squeezed orange juice. Quite an improvement that I actually mind myself like that - even in a dream where I know everything is possible !
I feel a peace and serenity in my days now. When people I know have their lunch or dinner, I feel things on their side are moving fast while I keep myself in a slower pace. I don't know if it makes sense to you guys... sometimes it feels like I'm watching a film and in my mind, a soft song is playing, but I'm very much present in whatever situation I'm in.
I guess that's what Sufis mean when they say "to be in seclusion while in the crowd".

I used to look in the mirror and feel "absent" behind my eyes. Ever since the 3rd day of the cleanse, I feel present again. The mental fogginess is gone. That fogginess used to really bother me and at times make me wonder if I were safe driving around town.

I'm starting to feel like I'm going to miss this state and fast as the days are reaching day 10.
Inshallah I will maintain a healthy diet that will keep me feel this good - and better still.

I hope you're all experiencing this fast well.
Chi -

Since you said you lost weight after 10 days, does that mean you didn't lose any the first 10 days? I also haven't had a significant increase in energy yet, but I would LOVE that. I'd also really appreciate seeing a reduction in cellulite, as it seems that clearing out so many toxins might lead to that.

Scrappattack16,

The MC affects people differently so don't focus on what you're not experiencing compared to others. Try to focus on what IS happening for you.

I've noticed that my sense of smell has heightened beyond description. At first I had to not be around people and food, especially at work. What has been hard for me was those folks who eat at their desks and the aroma of their foods wafting over to me while a sat and drank my lemonade

As the days have progressed, the smells of foods have become enjoyable, but no longer enticing. I now take my lemonade and water with me to the cafeteria and sit with co-workers while they eat. No longer a problem. Also, it doesn't hurt to see and hear their amazed and awed reactions when they learn what I'm doing and for how long I've been doing it.:D

While I have noticed my own weight loss, I had not paid particular attention to loss of cellulite, (and I've got some I could loose). I will recommend, however, once you finish your MC, to look at Ann Louise Gittleman's Fat Flush Program. I did notice a significant reduction in cellulite on her program. And if you start it after doing this, you'll be weeks ahead of the program from the detox side!! :p

Her "secret ingredient" is cranberry water. You can mix from pure concentrate or make your own. You drink it throughout the day in place of, and in addition to, water. Combined with sensible supplements and a food program that eliminates all "irritating foods" (foods that make your cells swell and hold stuff inside), this is one of the most noted visual impacts to cellulite. As an added bonus, if you suffer from candida, this eating program will continue to eliminate bad yeast from your body that was still hanging on after the lemonade.

I'm on day 25 and feeling like the end is in sight. I've lost 19 lbs in 24 days but, if my last long detox (june 08) is any indication, it's what you do AFTER the detox is over that impacts your weight long term, not the detox itself.

Hang in there, stick with it, don't focus on the weight, focus on your tongue getting pink!!! :o

Hey everyone!
I have a question, I am currently on day 7 and planning to go for 21 days, which would put me breaking the cleanse with OJ on February 9th. I have heard that you should wait 3 months in between cleanses, but I would like to do 10 days starting in April, that would make it only 2 months between my cleanses. My question is: WOULD THAT BE OK? Please advise. Thanks!

My conclusion is...yes, caynenne (in MASSIVE quantities) is an aphrodisiac. ;) Of course it does up the detox level, soooo those things are tricky to balance. :o ANYWAYS! I'm at 3/4 tsp per drink and this MC is a ZINGER!!! lemme tell ya...Actually, the detox hasn't been too bad. I've had more substantial eliminations, but that's good. Oh, and my left eye is swollen. What's that all about? Maybe it's not even related to the cleanse. It doesn't itch and there's no gook, so I'm not too concerned.

Trust me folks, the extra cayenne is worth it...just be prepared :p

It's a beautiful day 7! :D

MC2 Day7
Good afternoon my lemon scented friends,
glad to see all the activity on the board and read all your posts. Feel pretty good so far today, but man did I sleep hard last night... 12.5hrs! Its like being a teenager again. I've been sleeping an average of 10 hours a night! I am feeling refreshed!

I am on my way to 21 days also mparks16.

I am hoping to gain: A clear tounge, a handle on my cravings for sweets and fats, mental clarity, more energy, and weight loss of 25 lbs or more. I am a man which helps with weight loss and I saw a 13lb loss with my first 10 day cleanse which makes my goal seem attainable. I am open to continuing the cleanse if I haven't attained my goals.
During that first cleanse I became scale obsessed and the number that popped up every morning had a huge impact on my moods. There was 3 days where I didn't lose weight, but actually gained a pound! This time around I am weighing myself every 5 days and that has made a huge difference. This is my one piece of advice for others who are expecting, hoping for weight loss and have a tendency of becoming Scale Obsessed.

Stats to date are: Day one weight: 197.6lbs Day 5 weight: 189lbs Tounge still white but not as bad as the first 4 days. Have not had bad cravings this time like the first cleanse, and I am making plans to keep sensible eating habits after the cleanse is over. Have not felt extra energy yet, but for me that may be a post cleanse experience. Being lighter will help:) Mental clarity has not been reached to the degree I am hoping for yet.

How are the other 7 dayers doing? Sunshine, Leah1288, looshia...

Everyone is doing awesome! This will end and all we will have is memories and new found health!

I have been scarce here due to travel and work, but here I am on Day 21!!!!!!

Day 19, which I don't think I wrote about, was very long and boring. I had an intense dream that I ate some chinese chicken salad and then spit it back out! Then I had another dream again about eating chicken. Mind you, I haven't eaten meat in over three years!!!

For the weekend, I traveled to my home town to attend an annual cocktail party last night (Day 20). It is a veritable orgy of food and drink. It was very interesting to be at that party sober, and not gorging myself. I had a great time. However, I know I didn't get enough lemonade last night. It's an effort to get it down. :(

Anyway, today I'm just relaxing with my mom, and flying back tonight. I'm tempted to keep going...

LEMONHUGS to you all, esp my rock, Res, and thin4life! I'm behind on reading posts, but will scroll back now.

Well it's day 7 for me, and I skipped the board yesterday. For some reason I felt really unmotivated yesterday, I got really bad heartburn and couldn't get all of my lemonade down. I probably drank 3-4 glasses. My tongue has also been tingling like crazy, is that a good thing?

I'm going to try to up my cayenne today to get some extra results, but with the heartburn I had yesterday it seems daunting. Today I'm very "out of it", and my depth perception/reflexes seem to be way off. I keep running into things!

Seeing the encouragement here is helping, but man I can't wait until these 2 lethargic, yucky days pass!

I have been on the cleanse for ten days today. two years ago I had surgery for heart disease. I have a stent in my heart now. Three of the arteries were damaged, one in particular ( the one that now has the stent). Well I guess all my coronary arteries are affected in some way so I was wondering maybe I should go 21 or thirty days to clear out my arteries. Peter, any advice? Or any one else for that matter? It's very difficult to talk to non-fasters about this fast. When I first mentioned it to a friend that I had just started, she flipped out at how crazy I was to go on a lemonade only fast. What about carbs? proteins? am I crazy?
She just called me back and I am on Night 7. I happily told her I was still alive and feeling great and she still bashed the whole idea saying I'll regain the weight and more, I should never do this again (because I was saying I'll stop at 10 but in the summer, I'll probably attempt a longer fast) etc.
I attempted replying to all her arguments with what I know and have been feeling, but towards the end I just got tired and didn't feel like pursuing the ping pong game.

I've been pretty much on my own this past week and so I had no one to "justify" to why I decided to go on this fast.
I must admit, this phone call bummed me. I am not stopping before day 10 but my energy kinda dropped from all these arguments. I was enjoying the serenity I've been feeling but I guess it's because I also chose my environment for the cleansing.

Any of you guys been up against resistance or arguments from close ones?
I'm drinking my last glasses of lemonade before drinking my Smooth Move tea. Excited about Day 8 coming up.

Hope you're all doing well.

I am on Day 7. I am completely surprised that I am able to do this. This morning was awful. Tired, lethargic, crampy. About 3 hours after the SWF and the usual follow-up, I had additional BM. I rested a little and viola, I feel better. I went to a party after that today and was able to resist all of the food. I began talking of the MC to my friends. I think we'll have a few more on board soon. It is shocking of what I have done. I have always been fixated on food and coffee etc. It is nice to know that I dont need them as much as I thought I did.

Well I wasn't going to start til the 28th, but I decided after reading the book that I had to start immediately. Almost done with the book. It's awesome! I am on day 4. Day 1 was a piece of cake. I got a slight headache toward the evening and had it through the night. I ordered a extra lg pizza to deliver to the dealership that had done work on our car. Even though it smelled incredible I was not tempted at all. Day 2 went well til the evening. I then got another headache that was no fun, pretty bad! Had it all night and got very little sleep. As soon as I did the SWF in the morning it was gone! WOO HOO! Day 3 a teeny tiney headache, barely noticable. I have been cooking for my hubby and son (enchilada casserole, egg n ham burrittos, french toast n sausage etc) and I am shocked that I have NOT been tempted at all! I LOVE to eat! I raised 6 sons, we all love to eat.
HOWEVER I need HELP! Yesterday and today I have had horrible acid reflux. which I have only had 2 or 3 times in my life. It is right after I drink the lemonade and lingers. I have been doing the SWF faithfully with no prob. The Smooth Move Tea I HATE the taste. I am only getting a few swallows down at night. The Lemonade, I am only getting 2-4 glasses down because of the reflux & burning. As for BM's it is like water. Is that normal? I am so determined to dtick to this until my body lets me know I'm done! This is my first time doing the MC. Somebody help please, I do not want to quit...

Chirinium: I have a friend like yours who always says "you're starving yourself!" when I tell her I'm doing this. She called this morning and I made sure I didn't tell her. I may have to if I see her on Thursday, but I'll deal with that if it happens. People say stuff like that all the time. They just plain don't understand. What I fall back on is that I know that this is good for me and has helped a lot of other people too. From the outside it may seem radical, but from the inside, its not that crazy. Don't take it to heart. You're taking responsibility for your body and doing what you think is best for it. And if this was really bad for us, would we all be having much more complicated conversations about side-effects?

ReCNHP: There's chocolate Smooth Move - maybe you'd like that better? Otherwise, hold your nose (you'll get more used to it too with time). Its important to make sure you get all of the toxins out. BMs: yep, water's normal. Its the SWF liquid going through (which is the point). As for the acid reflux, someone else mentioned that in the last couple of days. I don't know anything about that, but Dr Burroughs did say that the MC should help ulcer patients, if I remember correctly. I guess my other thought would be to make sure you drink extra water and some peppermint tea. You really should try to get the 6 glasses in. Otherwise, my fear would be that you're going thru all of this without fully stirring up all of the toxins you want to get out.

Question (for Res?): have enjoyed all of the commentary on upping your cayenne, something I have always resisted doing because I think its yucky (although less yucky than on my earlier cleanses). Here's my question: does it matter whether its more cayenne per lemonade or just more lemonades? I have had next to no detox systems and I'm finishing Day 3. Want to make sure I'm spending my time with this productively....

Thanks and Happy (Lemon) Squeezing!

I never had major constipation prior to doing the MC, however, I can say that after my 1st MC (10 days), I went from 1 BM ever other day to 1 BM after every big meal. So, I would think that it would really help your constipation issue.

my brother was annyoyed at me when i told him, he said that you can't substitute whole foods for that lemonade, and drink laxatives like that and lose that much weight that quickly.

After i told him how good i feel and that it wasnt a radical lose weight quick scheme, the weight loss was a bonus, but it was to get me detoxed and feeling good about myself. he text me and asked me to send him a list of the ingredients to do it! haha

You've got to increase the amount of cayenne in each drink, so that you're getting a higher percentage of cayenne. More lemonades may help increase your level of detox too, but increase the cayenne if you can. Of course, you don't want to hate it. I love everything spicy, so it's easy for me. Add as much as you can and still enjoy drinking the lemonade!

I have opened it up the coconut oil and it does smell good, but haven't tasted it. It seems weird you can use this for all these things, it says on the jar you can use it for your hair, how would you use it for your hair? Thanks for the info about this, I am liking it already.

Oh yeah--it's amazing in your hair. Just melt it (in hot water--don't microwave) and rub it all through your hair and scalp. Put on a shower cap or plastic wrap and add heat if you can. Leave it on for about 30 minutes and then shampoo. But be careful--it smells so good you may be tempted to start sucking on your hair! Not only is this not socially acceptable, but it may mean you've cheated on your MC :p

I use coconut oil as lotion too. Another fun fact: it gids rid of tinea versicolor--that fungal rash that many people get on their tummies and back. If you have it, rub coconut oil on the rash twice a day and in a week (or less) it will be completely gone! Oh glorious coconut oil!!! I'm not even going to get into cooking with this wonderous stuff...don't want to torture myself. Have fun!

Hi Everyone! I'm finishing Day 6!! Thanks so much for the feedback from Kram, LadyLemon & Staytonsmith!!! (And to anyone else whose post I might have missed--I wish there was a way to be notified if someone has responded to you!) I love hearing from others on the cleanse, and I certainly appreciate the input.

Chirinium, I definitely know what you mean about others not understanding, thinking we are starving ourselves, ruining our metabolisms, etc. That has been one of the hardest things for me about staying on the cleanse!! That, and of course the fact that I love food, eating with friends & family, etc. However, I can do anything for 10 days, so I'm sticking it out & hoping the best is yet to come!!

Today was not much different for me than yesterday. The main improvements I've noticed are mental clarity, brighter skin, & slightly higher motivation to complete tasks that I've been putting off.
Thanks again for the support & replies--they have helped me stay on track!! Peace & Happiness to everyone :)

Starting Day 8 (MC1)

Last 2 days, especially yesterday were pretty hard, lots of cravings and body aches...

Looking forward to this morning SWF and starting a new day...

Good Morning!
Today is MC2 Day 8! I'm going for 21 days!
So far this cleanse has been WAY easier than my 1st! Hardly any cravings or detox symptoms. Yesterday, I treated myself to an 1 1/2 hour long massage to help move toxins out (and feel awesome, of course!). Just finished my SWF. I have been adding a little more salt, but it always worked perfectly before with the exact 2 Tsp, so I think I will go back to that starting tommorow. It seems to have only made it more salty. And possibly take longer, yesterday I still had butt pee around 7 pm. Although, I did get a really late start (11 am), but still. Anyway, time for a shower before the bathroom express begins! Hope everyone has a great day!
Happy Cleansing!

MParks16: I think you gave me my first real out-loud laugh on this. The Bathroom Express really captures how all of our mornings are. And I have to think that most of the Lemonheads out there right now in the eastern, many in the central and probably even some in the mountain time zone are on that Express right now.

Hope it goes well for everyone this morning. This happens to be my favorite part of the cleanse because there is no question about the impact of doing all of this. A great feedback mechanism.

Enjoy!

Day 15

:D:D:DGood Morning All! Woo Hoo! Day 15! I am so excited to have made it this far.:D:D:D

Still having a problem getting 6 glasses down but that is my goal for this week. I weighed myself and I have lost 13 pounds in 14 days. Not too shabby. I feel like I should have lost more but I think it amy be because I haven't been drinking at least 6 glasses a day

Hey Tiggarbaby are you still with me???

Just getting started! I'm on Day 2. I can feel this year's going to be better than last b/c I weaned myself off the coffee a couple of weeks ago. Last year I quit on Day 7 b/c of a 4 day headache. This year I gotta go at least 10. I'm so determined, I'm not even going to a Superbowl party. I'll be checking in every day. I need the support. 10 days has been my nemesis!!!!!!!!

MC 2 Day 15

Good Morning Lemon Squeezers!!! :) Hope everyone has an awesome day!!! :)

Lovethebigdogs ~ Yep, I'm still here with you! :) WooHoo!!! Day 15!!! Yay!!! :D We ROCK!!! :D

I guess I finally got that burst of energy!!! I spent Saturday and Sunday completely rearranging my house and spring cleaning!! :D And I mean COMPLETELY rearranging!!! I moved my quilting room upstairs, moved my bedroom into the former quilting room, moved my living room furniture into the family room and vice versa, etc!!! :) And everything got cleaned as we moved it!! :D That was a great workout for my husband and myself! LOL :p Today my muscles are sooo sore! But totally worth it! ;) And MY HUSBAND IS THINKING OF DOING THE MC NEXT WEEK WITH ME!!!!!!!!! He's reading the book now and thinking of starting Friday night! I told him he has to decide by Thursday night so I can go out and get the supplies on Friday because I will run out of maple syrup on Saturday (which is my day 20) I was thinking of ending on Saturday whether or not my tongue was pink cuz I really miss eating with my family, but if my hubby does it with me I may keep going....then we would just have to feed the kids and that wouldn't be so bad....they like "munching" and wouldn't care if we didn't cook big dinners for a week! ;)

Don't quit - you're doing great! You've already passed the test of not being tempted by the pizza, cooking for your family with no problems, etc. Since so much of this is mental (I say 90%) - you're already doing fantastically!!!!

I have heard there is chocolate Smooth Move tea...maybe give that a try? As for the LA and reflux & burning...first check your proportions of cayenne. Then I suggest sipping your LA through a straw. I sip it all day long, and have water in between. When I've had to drink it out of a bottle (if I'm out and about) then I notice more burning. And, yes the watery BM - aka "BUTT PEE" is perfectly normal.

You can do it and we're all here for you![

Good morning Lemon Head crazies like me! DAY 17! and I would like to coin a new term: FBP=Firey Butt Pee!!!! Yowza did I ever have it last night in the middle of the night! Not alot, but certainly FIERY! Oooooh baybeeee! Guess that doubling the cayenne is doing something!

I was freezing last night and couldn't get warm in the bed (plus my hubby is gone, so the bed is chilly anyway). It felt like an internal chill like when you have the flu. Better this morning!

My last day will be Thursday - WOO HOO!. I need to start printing out yummy raw and healthy recipes so I can shop on Thursday. I live in a small town in Mexico where it is very hard to get specialty ingredients (not even "specialty", but so many things you all are used to in the U.S. are not common here). But I can find some in the larger city about 40 mins away, so I'll be heading there Thursday.

Well, I've been putting it off this morning, but I need to chug down my SWF that's sitting there on the counter staring me in the face.

Have a great Monday all!

Any of you guys been up against resistance or arguments from close ones? Oh lordie....it's not as if they really don't want you to succeed, but there's a strange sub-conscious thing that all these people do and they really don't want you to succeed!! It's not meant in a mean way - it's more like they feel "threatened" and then try to sabbotage you. Hang in there *HUG* we all go through it.

The first rule is "DON'T TELL ANYONE WHAT YOU'RE DOING". ;) And think about this, prior to the "call" you mentioned serenity and determination to go to Day 10. AFTER the call you probably started questioning yourself and you were exhausted. WEIGH each of those events in the balance. Which one do you want? Keep going. Most of the time family and friends jump on board and even try the cleanse once they see how healthy and happy you are. :)

I got the quart done and promptly brought it all back up. I felt much better. I promptly made another quart and it took me 20 minutes to get it down but I did it! It wanted to come back up yesterday and I FOUGHT to keep it down, today I just let it happen and I feel great!!! Wish all of you the best! I always have great energy but it is off the charts...

Day 8 and I feel great! :D (I'll stop the rhyming now before this turns into a bad Dr. Seuss post) I'm really excited about the extra detox that comes from the obscene amounts of cayenne I've been consuming! (Nutcase, I know--but I'm sure you all understand.) I've heard that lemon juice and/or cayenne in your water on days when you're eating is good for weight loss too. Must be because it continues to detox. I think I'll adapt that once I resume chewing my daily substance.

Happy Monday Everyone! And a special shout out to all my fellow Day Eighters!!

AMEN! Most of the time the resistance comes from a lack of knowledge on the subject and the constant string of falsehoods we are fed by the FDA and modern Western medicine. I've been doing this for years and have learned not to tell anyone. Some people who are close to me figure it out pretty quickly, but most of them are supportive. Even if they never plan to do the MC themselves, they see the benefits and respect my decision. Once I had a roommate who I knew would argue with me about it and I was able to keep it from him for my entire 25 days of not eating! I have to say, that's pretty sneaky! Anyways, I have found that if I want to discuss the MC, or fasting in general with someone, it's best to do it when I'm not actually cleansing. (And also best not to discuss it over a nice juicy ribeye!) He/she is less likely to attack you since you are eating at the time, and it's easier to have a level-headed conversation. And if the person still refuses to at least consider the benefits, then just let it go. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

I made it to day 17HURRAY!!!!!!!! I too am going to go 20 days before I stop. Im so tired of hearing from my friends how unhealthy this MC is to do. Next time Im keeping it to my self. I feel a little bit better today. Somewhat Have a clear head. But Im still so full of zits, which is totally unusual for me... Ill be glad when their gone. I seem to have a litte bit more of energy today too. Iv lost about 10 pounds which I didn't need to do. All of my clothes are hanging on me. I think thats why so many of my friends are worried about me because Iv gotten quite thin. But Im sure Ill gain some of it back. I did the MC only for detox purposes which I really needed. Well every one hang in there and keep squeezing.... :)

chirinium: Dont worry about your friends, but I too am not sharing this with anyone next time. Keep up the good work.

MC1 Day 4.

Hello all. Today is off to a somewhat sluggish start. My energy is a bit low. Was riding high yesterday. Still battling the habitual compulsion to eat. I think I may be in mourning over not eating. Like a kid who's had her favorite toy taken away for a few weeks. Of course, I'm not looking at this cleanse as a punishment. But I just feel sad about not eating. However, I can't say it is due to hunger. It is clearly an emotional attachment and habit that I am dealing with, which is one of the many reasons I chose to do this cleanse. SWF wasn't as "productive" today as yesterday. Hmmm. 32 oz. in, but nowhere near 32 oz. out. I shall carry on!

Chirinium
January 26th, 2009, 10:04 AM
I think this has been the most intense night of dreams since I started my fast. I'm certain it was some kind of mental/spiritual clean up because everything that's been on my mind was in my dream and I was either living them, dealing with them, facing them or just seeing them happen. It was very intense..... so intense I feel worn out today.
I drank my morning salt water but for the first time, didn't manage to keep it in. By the last gulp I felt uneasy and threw most of it back out.
I have one class today and it shouldn't be a problem with the lemonade (I'll just take a pre-made bottle with me). Tomorrow is the 9th day and I have a loooong day in college (10am to 6pm with only one hour break). It's like the end is picking up challenges now - since I was getting somewhat comfortable a few days back.

My tongue is still very coated and if I pass my teeth over it I can almost remove a layer of stuff. I hope it will get better by day 10 because I will feel incomplete if I am to stop by then and my tongue is still looking yucky like that. I assume it will get back to "normal" when I'll start eating "normally" again.

My body and muscles are asking for stretching. I feel tense all over.
I was hoping for a spiritual opening and an amazing feeling on this magical Day 8 most people talk about.. I seem to be feeling confused today though.
hopefully tomorrow (or even later tonight) will feel better.

Good morning my lemon scented friends

It's day 8 and its super to be here. Shout outs to my fellow day eighters SUNNYSHINE and MPARKS16.
Glad to see we are on the same pace MPARKS16. Its kinda weird how you can gain solidarity with strangers over something as strange as a cleanse, but man I am glad you can! With out all the rest of you crazies doing this too I'd feel completely nuts!
I am on this cleanse to rid my body of toxins, gain mental clarity and lose the weight I put on every winter. I am a Organic vegetable farmer, so during the spring/summer/fall I get enough exercise to eat as much of whatever I want, and drink as much wonderful micro brew as I want. Come winter time I am no longer grinding away 10 hours a day, but I still want to eat like I am! I am realizing (duh) that I need to tune my body and consumption into the seasons better.
Onward to day 21 MPARKS16!
Best wishes and happy squeezing all,

Hello Fellow Lemonheads...

Day 9 and no motivation today. Just feel kinda blah. It'll pass. On the bright side, yesterday's rash is history.

Seems to be more Day 8 Lemonheads than Day 9ers. Would appear Monday is a more popular starting day than Sunday. Anyway, just an observation. I actually had planned on starting today, but already had all my supplies but lemons heading into my starting weekend and figured, why wait. Glad I didn't; already got 9 SWFs knocked out. :D

Day 7. While I am very proud of myself for making it this long, I just am trying to keep the strenth to last 3 more days. I woke up this morning and have gained a pound on top of my orignial weight. I am not doing this just for the weight loss, however, I feel like I must be doing something wrong. I am eliminating like crazy and upping the cayenne too. The only symptoms of detoxing I am having is the irritability, yucky tounge and muchoid stuff. I am very ready to be done. How is it so many of you have so much energy and fun?????? I just haven't seen much benefit. My belly feels full and distended and I feel gross all over, not light and airy.

Not trying to bring anyone down, just trying to be honest. Does anyone else feel this way??

Day 6

After being extremely cranky yesterday I had quite a 'productive' morning - must have been some detoxing yesterday. I don't remember who said it (typed it ;)) about going to the bathroom being like a science experiment but I had a lot of solids this morning pre-swf - thank you smooth move. Both fascinating and gross at the same time. Oh and I had a seriously elaborate food dream last night. Mexican food. Huge weakness. Only a few more days to go - feeling good!

Have a great day everyone. :)

We're all different Hippimom. Don't let it discourage you. It sounds like you are following the cleanse perfectly, so just accept the cleansing that your body is doing. There are so many factors that make this experience not only different for each of us, but different each time we do it.
To help with the irritability try meditating, going for walks, taking a nice long hot Epsom salt and lavender oil bath--anything that helps you feel calm. I also like to watch a really funny movie or call one of my especially humorous friends and talk for a hour or so. Laugh, laugh, laugh--it does wonders. :) I also find that when I'm stopped up with some irritating detox symptom (no matter what sort) skin brushing and sweating really help. A hot hot bath or sauna are beneficial. Anything that will get you sweating and help your skin release some toxins.

Keep it up! You are doing amazing things for yourself!! :D

I've enjoyed mixing various proportions of lemon to lime, and with different varieties of lemons and limes to play with too... you can start to get really into it! At my local grocery co-op they have a big sign when you walk in declaring it "Citrus Season"! Its been really great. I have also notice my sense of smell and palate really strengthen when I am fasting which makes it even better. Anything for some variety ya know?:)

Good Day Lemonheads

Yesterday I didn't do the SWF and I paid for it all day. My tummy felt like I had to go all day even though nothing came out. Today when I went back to it it was harder to get down. I guess the lesson learned is don't skip days when it comes to the SWF. It was hard even with a straw *sheesh*! I think I'm going to call it quits at 30 instead of going 40 days just so I can be back in April. Looking at all those recipes Res and everyone else has posted in the Rawfood forum and everywhere else have me drooling daily for some food. I'm no hungry at all just anxious to try some of those recipes, especially that salad sandwhich and apple pie yummy. :D

Hi all!

This is my second post on this site. The first just mentioning that I'm in on the cleanse. This is day 7 of the 10 for me. I'll be tapering off and back to normal by Feb. 4th.

My experience so far has been:
a headache ( no doubt caffiene) on day 1- I took ibuprofen. Probably a no-no but I didn't want to deal with that while transitioning into the fast. Next time I will delete the caffeine a day or so before so I don't have to deal with that.

serious "wake me up in the night" back pain on around the third day that has been better but still lingering here and there.

a slight rash in spots

this one is the wildest in a way-- I had a deep redness show up on the back of my hand on or around the fourth day over my thumb and first finger. It was very red, dry and had a spot that looked like a small cut. It dawned on me that that was the exact spot that I had burned my hand well over three years ago! How weird is that? Today most of the color is gone and it looks nearly normal. Could it be possible that the burn was so deep that layers way down had not healed but the fast is the catalyst in the restoration of my skin?

I'm also wondering if the lower back pain, which reminds me so much of the pain I've experienced when taking Prednisone (a steroid) for my asthma. I'm wondering if there were toxins from the steroids being released out of the cells in that area.

All in all though I feel fine. There's no real hunger except if I delay the lemonade too much on a given day. Food preparation hasn't bothered me. I'm loving the smells and I've been around quite a bit of it this week as we've had company twice and went to a birthday Saturday where homemade Thai and homemade ice cream was served! It's 13 days out of a year, and really a lifetime of eating.

Here's a tip that helps me: If there is something I know I'd like to enjoy later on, I freeze it. Delayed gratification is a wonderful thing!!! :) There are a few slices of homemade pizza and a small dish of that homemade ice cream waiting for me to savor over a couple days or so when the fast is through. ;)

First day, first MC, first post!
Obviously, I'm feeling pretty good right now :p
We'll see how things progress...
I'm doing the MC because I am embarking on a total diet/lifestyle overhaul, beginning with a cleanse. I have a really sluggish colon, and my diet has been absolute crap for years, so this seemed like a necessary first step. Any weight loss from the cleanse will be an added bonus!

Hippimom ~ Congratulations on making it to day 7!!! You are doing awesome!! Just continue to hang in there! Do you have the book by Peter G.? It says that day 2, 3, and SEVEN are major detox days. So you may be feeling worse today because you are having a major detox day! Everyone responds differently to the cleanse and even differently on each of your own cleanses. If you are not losing weight and actually gained a pound...are you doing the SWF in the morning and the tea at night? Maybe you are not overweight so your body does not have extra weight to let go of?? I have really upped the cayanne myself (about 3/4 teaspoon per drink) and I've got to tell you, the detox symptoms are much harder...that is probably where your irritability and everything is coming from. On my first cleanse I did only about 1/4 teaspoon of cayanne per drink and I only had a few bad days and the rest I felt pretty normal, good, and upbeat. On this cleanse, I feel very tired, cranky, moody, bored, and on some evenings I've even felt incredibly ANGRY and for NO REASON!!!! One day I spent in bed ALL DAY CRYING!!!! It's been crazy this cleanse....As for the energy, I've only felt energy 2 days this cleanse and as for feeling light & spriritual awakenings & serenity, etc....I have not experienced those either cleanse! So what you are feeling is NORMAL!!! Everyone just responds differently! You never know, your next cleanse you may have all those wonderful feelings! Just keep plugging away at this! You are doing your body a great service! You said you are "eliminating like crazy" so that means you do have "junk" inside your body that needs to come out and this is a great, safe, and healthy way to accomplish that goal! And I know we can't FEEL (at least I can't!!) exactly what is going on inside our bodies, but it is cleaning and healing and doing all kinds of amazing things! Just stick with it! You will be soooo glad you did in the end and feel much better for it. We are all here for you!!! Don't worry about "bringing everybody down"!! We want to know how you honestly feel and we all feel that way at times and that is why we are here to "listen" and help support you! You can do this!! We'll be right here for you!!! You are doing awesome!!!!!! 7 days down and only 3 more to go!!!! YOU ROCK!!!! :D

I started the cleanse because it was recommended to me and today is day 6; normally, I am in pain everyday  in my shoulders/neck area. Since the first day of the cleanse, I have been in less pain this week, than I have for the last few years:D. I still have pain, but not as much as I had. When stress hits, it doesn't hit as hard in that area either. I got my monthly thing:eek: - wonderful to be a woman and I have only lost 6lbs since I started the cleanse. I am thinking due to my time of the month, it may be a contributing factor that I haven't lost more:confused:. I have also been very tired, but today was the first day I wasn't exhausted!
Funny thing, when my friend asked me how I was doing on the cleanse and I told him I was on day 6, he said "you lasted longer than me." I just laughed.:p

ctkat1: You're in for a ~WILD RIDE~ :) Stick with it and at the end you'll feel better than a million bucks! ;)

Nikilette: I'm so sorry to hear about your pain. The MC is a great place to start! You'll have to follow up with incorporating more living food into your diet but believe me there's nothing boring about it. Can you look an avocado in the eye and tell it "Your boring!" Huh? huh? Can you? Can you? ;) I'm a little excitable since I'm post cleanse 2 days. lol

We have a most amazing "landing place" for you when you finish your cleanse. It's the "After the Cleanse (http://therawfoodsite.com/forum/showthread.php?t=99&page=48)" thread in the Raw food forum and it's chalked full of experiences. We have a recipe box and a 30 day raw challenge thread. You can check out free recipes and follow along on our wild journey of going 100% raw for 30 days. Mtmouse and I were like Lewis and Clark trying to find our way but having much more fun than I imagine they did. haha :)

You're all doing AMAZING! I'm so proud of each of you for the choice you've made in being here. :D

Hi Everybody
MC2 Day 2
On my second day and doing alright! I was really foggy this morning but am clear headed now and the headache is gone. My family was invited to a Super Bowl party and I think I can do it. I get to be the designated driver. So that's a good thing.:o

Good luck to everyone!

DAY 8!
Man, I can't believe I've made it this far! The other day-8ers (and everyone else, as well) have REALLY helped me on this journey, your support/success has motivated me to keep on!

The night of day 6/most of day 7 I just wanted to throw in the towel, I felt so depressed and lethargic. I was on an emotional roller coaster yesterday. I'm so glad I kept going though, because I'm feeling really upbeat and positive today!

I'm awfully cold, but other than that no symptoms to speak of today (yet?).

Welcome CTKAT1! I started this cleanse for almost the exact same reasons, and I'm so glad I did it. I'm so much more motivated now to keep up with a healthier lifestyle. You made a great choice :).

AAAaaaaah! Thank you my friend! I just got back home and I just want to get warm and drink some Peppermint tea. Everyone around me were eating snacks it got a bit difficult.

Hey my tongue feels irritated and is sensitive to the lemon when I drink the lemonade. I did twice or thrice brush it with the back of my toothbrush.

Anyone feeling irritated on the tongue? Shall I put less lemon maybe?

Thanks Lemonyfresh :) Support really gets through :)

ddhol2: I'm on Day 4 too. how long are you planning to go?

chirinium: Please know that even on Day 10 if you're tongue isn't pink, that your first cleanse is part of a longer effort toward good health. Don't focus on your non-pink tongue, focus on how much gunk you undoubted flushed out of your body. Hopefully you'll get your spiritual day tomorrow during your busy one. Fingers crossed!

LauraM and Res: I just bought some coconut oil at Whole Foods (instant gratification) and yes, I would like to eat it. It smells great!!!!! Can't wait to put some on my dry, scaly, winter legs.

ctkat1: congrats! The MC will be a great start on your overhaul. I'm on my fifth, yet my eating overhaul has been in fits and starts. But this is always a great first step because I always feel so fantastic when I'm done that I want to eat anything that's good for me. This time is especially good for me because i've recently become unemployed, so I will have lots of time to work on a better eating plan for now and for when I have to return to the working world. Step 1 for me is getting off of the "good morning" diet coke (am not a coffee drinker and really don't need the caffeine). So best of luck! You'll find a lot of support on the site, especially when you think weird things are happening.

DAY 19
ONE MORE DAY TO GO!!

Beth
Lady Lemon - I am so jealous - I don't think my tongue is ever going to clear...... I am on day 22 of my 1st cleanse and am yearning for that pink tongue so I can eat fruits and veggies, chew on something, I am so ready but my tongue is still not clear!! Very frustrated today But very happy for you CONGRATS - Way to go and enjoy your next adventure -

For all the others of us out there hanging in for the pink tongue we will drink and cleanse forward!!!!

Hey MC Family,

Day 8 for me too. I must say it has been a MUCH better day than yesterday. Day 7 I fell so ICK. Cold, irritable, rashy, Grumy, Dopey, Sneezy, Doc.....You get the idea. AND - Mental suggestion is a MF for real.... Specifically, I intend to go for 21 - 22 days, but my mind is telling me "please stop @ 10, b/c I'm sick of lemonade" . I think I'm going to let my body tell me how long to go.

On a different note - I am really having a hard time getting the minimum amount of glasses down. As a matter of fact, there have been at least 3 (or 4) days when I only drank four glasses. I just have not been hungry! Any of the troops have any suggestions or advice????

Love you guys and all the support. It's fabulous!

hi--i am on day 4 of the cleanse and doing well--had a quick question and was wondering if someone out there might have an answer.

i understand that freshly squeezed lemon juice is best, but i just can't squeeze a lemon every time i want a glass of lemonade. i make my daily allotment in the morning, then ration throughout the day. question is: am i decreasing the effectiveness of the drink? i hear the important enzymes die in a few hours.

also do i have to keep the lemonade refrigerated? i just like to have it sitting on my desk for most of the day. conversely, when i'm cold, i like to heat it up. how hot can i make the lemonade without destroying the "good stuff?"

thanks so much...

Congratulations to all you finishing your cleanse. It's really an inspiration to see people go for those really long cleanses (Ladylemon and others) :D It's not always easy.

I am on my 10th day and not sure if I can go longer. I have a pinker tongue, but I wouldn't call it pink. Yet... It seems really stressful for me to continue the fast. Maybe I give it one more day to reconsider not quitting and I will not be so grumpy about it . I know must of my issue is with expectations. Damn expectations! :D We could all be so happy if we didn't make promises to ourselves, huh? I was hoping the cleanse would be over by now and I would have lost more weight. I've only lost 5 pounds if even that. Plus this is one of my grumpiest days ever cause it's day 10 and I'm not satisfied. Or it could just be PMS. LOL

So... I'm just going to see tomorrow how I feel. Like the Beatles song, LET IT BE. Time to focus on positive things. Have some tea. Chill OUT! :D

Thanks for the encouragement. The book has been helpful as well as this forum. I am not sure what I want to do after the cleanse. Part of me wants to just eat raw and part of me wants to eat chicken. I never eat red meat or pork, just chicken, fish and turkey. However, I do want to eat more organically - one issue I have is, I am allergic to a lot of nuts - not members of my family - actual nuts. LOL So, I am not sure what to do about that portion of the raw eating life. Ideas?

Lemony strong,

OffBase - So glad to see you pushed through on your cocktail party - Way To Go! What a sense of self confidence knowing you are in control again and not the food in your life.... I too am struggling with you to get my lemonades down daily - you wouldn't think it would be that hard to drink 6 glasses a day but it sure has been for the last 4 days - it's like I just get going and fight through the hunger with water and don't take the time to make the drink. I have been exercising and I think I pulled a muscle in my stomach of I am cleansing out some stuborn toxic fat cells (hopefully the latter) - been pretty miserable and sore for 2 days now and my tongue is still coated, no pain no gain :) Obsessed with looking in the mirror alot but not with the scale, that is an improvement - odd that there always seems to be an obsession though.... guess I am just not ready to be done cleansing yet!! Oh Mercy that means more tea, swf and lemons for this lemon head!! Have a great day everyone - pray through to your success - whatever that may be~

I am on day 2 of my first ever MC- It is 2:30 pm and I have had a head ache all day. I haven't been too hungry over the last 2 days but i feel like taking a nap now. I haven't done the salt water flush thing yet...it kinda freaks me out. Do I just mix salt and water and gulp it down. Sounds gross. I am hoping talking to others doing this will help me reach my goal of 10 days. Seems really far away.

I hear ya Hairpin. I had a similar day but I'm only on day 4. I'm tired, hungry, super cranky. I really wanted to eat today and felt angry about not being able to. I've gone from being sad to angry so maybe I'm progressing. Usually when I am processing something the next step after anger is release so I'm hoping the toxic anger will be released with tomorrow's elimination. Hang in there. It will be worth it. Better day tomorrow.

P.S. I think the next time I do this cleanse I'll take the first week off from work. Being stuck in my windowless office all day doesn't help!

DAY 20!
MISSION ALMOST COMPLETE!

Greetings my fellow Lemonheads,

Thank y'all for all the love and support. As this is my last day I am gravitating to the post cleanse and raw food threads. I know I will see you there when you complete your missions.

I feel great and feel like I am glowing. Skin and eyes clear and glowing, down some weight, feeling calm and focused.....and PROUD OF MYSELF.

Thin4life, don't be tongue obsessed or let it bum you out. I've done this before and never achieved pink. This year has been supremely healthy for me and I also did a variety of other kinds of detoxing. I almost fell over when I got to pink because I never, ever have before. Remember, this is a journey!

thin4life--I didn't lose weight in the beginning at all, actually felt bloated and full like you. Around day 8 things changed and I lost some weight. The main point I wanted to make though, is that the MC is terrific to clean yourself out and a time to reflect on your eating habits--when you finish is the time to get the kind of eating habits that will take you to the right weight. Hang in there.

I'll be back in April for another cleanse and hope to see you there! Many thanks to all of you--especially Res--I could not have done it without y'all!

Best Lemon wishes,

Beth

I think this has been the most intense night of dreams since I started my fast. Crazy isn't it? Most of us visit the weird world of dreams at least a few times on an extended cleanse. You could almost begin writing a book based on some of the bizzare events in the dreams. :) Maybe that's how Stephen King got started. ;)

Well I have almost completed day 20. I can't believe I have made it this far this easily. Yesterday my 4 year old granddaughter keep trying to give me corn chips. I resisted but I have to admit I kissed her over and over to taste the residual. Bad Girl. I really enjoy reading what every one is going through. It really helps to have a place to come after a day full of everyone telling you how crazy you are and that you are harming yourself. This is MC 5 D20 going for 28 days. Can't wait for a nice big salad. Everyone keep your spirits up and hang in there. Bragging rights are on the way.:D

I'm on day one and have a question about the tea.
do u have to use the smooth move tea?
because I have another type of tea that helps aid digestion already on hand that I used last night.
also have ginger and peppermint tea.
and do u have to use the tea if u are doing the swf?
thanks

wsph1984: It's really important to read the book because it answers all of those questions. You don't have to use the exact Smooth Move brand but you do have to use a Laxative Tea. Smooth move just happens to be popular- sort of.

You do tea at night and then EITHER tea or the SWF in the morning. Remember it's LAX tea. Peppermint tea is "on occasion". It's all there in the book. ;)

Hi All -

Winding down DAY 17. Getting there!

My family and I are invited over to some friends' house on Saturday for a special dinner just for us before they leave for 6-8 months. For this reason, I decided to make my last day Wednesday (Day 19) instead of Thursday. I'm not feeling bad at all about this decision. I'm amazed how well I've done on this cleanse, my first time going past 10 days...and I'm going to complete 19! This way I'll have 2-1/2 transition days before going to the dinner. It just didn't seem right to go to this dinner prepared especially for us and for me to say "I can only have veggie broth". It's only a one day difference.

My tongue is still yucky, but I plan to go on probiotics after I start eating again (what a concept - eating!) and do "oil pulling" to continue to draw out the toxins.

Trying to get my last LA down before I have my lax tea.

Buenas Noches a todos!

Lemonyfresh, Chriminium, & Sunnyshine (and any other fellow day 8'ers):
It's cool that we are all on day 8 together, I hope everyone had a good one today! My day 7 wasn't as bad as I thought, but I think it all came through today. I had a rough day today, I started off tired and kind of bummed. The bummed was definetly influenced by my fiance leaving again for the week - this is the 3rd week in a row. He leaves Monday and comes home Friday, so I miss him. :(
However, by the end of the day I was starting to perk up. The cat is acting INSANE! He's doing laps though the house apparently training for the Kitty Olympics! OMG, he is a FREAK tonight!

Ok, everyone, is it just me, or do you all think in terms of "detox" too??? Whenever someone is talking to me about their health issues all I can think is: this person should do the MC, they'd feel better and probably fix that problem, etc. Does anyone else start thinking like this? I realize that MC is not the answer to everything, but it seems that it is the answer to so many issues.

Anyway, just thinkin' on the board.....

Halfway through day one for me. Man all I want is food. My office does A LOT of eating and sharing of food and so far I turned down two cupcakes, fiery chips, coffee, and some banana nut bread. IT is frunny whoever mentioned that when you hear others ailments you want them to try the MC. I am sitting here listening to them and have suggested and they want the website. We will see what happens. Busy at work and ready to go home. Enjoying the lemonade and put in a BUNCH of cayenne. I love the spicy so it isn't a big deal I just hate the maple syrup taste. So I put very little of that but love the spicy lemon taste LOL. One day at a time and have a good support system. Will hopefully go home and exercise. Can't wait to actually start that. Back to work for me!! Good luck all and might check in before bed or might just go in early either way see you all tomorrow. ;)

Hey everyone! I just signed up for the forum today, but I started Day 1 this morning! I'm in the broadcast industry and I keep feeling like I'm going to miss a report because I'm running to the bathroom! Thankfully it's all coming out ok, so life is good. I'm going to be looking to this board for lots o' support over the next couple days because I'm going this solo. Everyone I'm friends with is pretty sure I'm going to be a huge *itch over the next couple of days, but I'm bound and determined to prove them wrong lol From what I've read in the book and on here, no one has been completely miserable, so we'll see!
