Hey there,

This is my first full out cleanse, so I'm a bit of a newbie. Sorry if this is repeated, eventhough I've checked other posts.

Does anyone know if this helps to get rid of cellulite?

Thanks so much!

Hi,
Does anyone know if the MC is effective at getting rid of cellulite? I have done the MC 2x before and with great results and I believe that some of the gross cellulite on my thighs went away, but in reading stuff about fat, the only info I find is that once it's there, it never goes away. Does anyone else think it can go away, or is it just my imagination.
Thanks for your help!!

Its just a body wrap some use clay and oils I like the seaweed wrap at a local Health food store they are pricey but they help detox and feel great !!! It also helps tone your skin after a weight loss like the cleanse. No more lumps and bumps !!!

WOW! I'm sooo inspired! I have never had much of a problem with weight until I had my third child...he's 2 1/2 yrs. old already and not only have I not been successful losing the weight, but now have cellulite too! UGH! I'm 37, so I'm sure my age plays a part, but it's nice to know it's NOT futile and there are things I can do to attack it. I'm looking into that wrap first thing tomorrow! Thanks~Healthy Intentions

I have been going to endermolagie wich is a deep tissue massage that is supposed to diminish cellulite. The concept behind it is that the fat cells in your skin are deformed from holding too many toxins. The deep tissue massage is performed with a machine that sucks the skins and stretches the fat cells but also helps to release toxins. That is how I heard about the cleanse. They say the two together are very effective. I did a 14 day cleanse and went through 10 sessions of endermologie. I can see a differance in my skins tone and tightness. I also lost 10lbs on the cleanse. I have a couple more sessions to go then I will have pictures taken and go onto a maintnence program. So I definatly believe getting the toxins out of your body any way you can will benefit your skin as well as all the health benefits.

I have read that cellulite is a build up of toxins in your fat cells...I have done the MC twice since March (I just started my third cleanse today). After my second cleanse my cellulite was practically gone. I also did detox baths, infrared saunas and skin brushing during the cleanse...and continued that afterward; however, I clearly noticed the absense of my cellulite after my second 10-day cleanse...it has yet to return. I am hoping that this third cleanse will eliminate what little cellulite I have left.

MsLitch I was doing endomologie and it helped for me too! It got kinda expensive so I quit, but after reading boards I am hoping doing MC and maybe doing endo once in ahwile maybe the back of my legs will get better.(After I did recommended # of treatments they recommend going 1-2 times a month!)

I read about a laser treatment in Newsweek a few months ago that makes a huge difference in cellulite. After I have my next and final baby, I will do another cleanse and then do the laser treatments to clear it up. I have exercised like a mad woman for the last 5 years and even when I am skinny I still have all of the cellulite, so I don't think that exercise alone really helps.

It makes sense that the toxins we are losing could make a difference. I just finished my first 10 day cleanse, and I have lost 9 pounds but I haven't noticed any difference in my cellulite. Maybe it will take a few more MCs.

Good luck

Momof4,

Congrats on finishing your 10 days!!! Are you starting the OJ today? How do you feel?

I started on the OJ last night because technically that was the end for me. I also had vegetable soup with the vegetables. Then I had half of a turkey sandwich with lettuce and tomatoe on whole wheat without mayo or mustard. My stomach tolerated it just fine with a lot of water. In fact, I think it had a little party. Today I had some cantaloupe and the other half of my sandwich some lemonade and a lot of water. I am determined to eat healthy, but my stomach is fine with real food.

I was wrong about the cellulite, guys. I assumed it was still there, but I hadn't actually looked. Today at the gym, I looked, and I would say it is about 50% gone. This all by itself is reason enough for me to do another cleanse, and eat really healthy until then. Who knew? (you guys did, apparently;) ) I am so excited!

Chalk up another benefit of the cleanse. A few more, and I won't even need the laser treatments!

Detoxing and exercise do improve the appearance of cellulite, but it doesn't get rid of it. Yes, toxins are stored in fat, but cellulite is nothing more than plain old fat wrapped up in a different package. It's interlaced with a connective tissue, collagen, which is what gives it its dimpled appearance. Unfortunately, cellulite is hereditary in about 85% percent of women. Even thin women can have some cellulite. Some medical experts feel it may be partially caused by estrogen. Even some anorexics have cellulite!

So yes, losing body fat, detoxing and improving muscle tone will definitley help but unfortunately nothing truly gets rid of it!

Wipe Out Cellulite in 6 Moves
By Allison Winn Scotch, Prevention

Last year, American women spent nearly $100 million on creams, lotions and other topical treatments in hopes of eradicating cellulite from our thighs and butts. We're going to make a wild guess that very few of those products worked as well as you'd hoped. That's because, despite its infamy, cellulite is just plain old fat (albeit dressed up in slightly more offensive attire), and a key to minimizing it is to drop pounds, according to a 2006 study published in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

But how you lose weight matters: Crash dieting can actually make cellulite worse by reducing skin's elasticity, making more of those little puckers noticeable. Gradual weight loss (to better preserve skin's suppleness and reduce fat) accompanied by targeted muscle development, which firms and smooths underlying tissue, is the most effective cellulite solution, says Glynis Ablon, MD, an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at UCLA.

When Wayne Westcott, Ph.D., co-author of No More Cellulite, tested such a strategy on 115 women, all of them reported a reduction in cellulite appearance at the end of 8 weeks, and ultrasound measurements confirmed a higher proportion of muscle to fat in their thigh areas.

Now, it's your turn. This comprehensive exercise and eating plan will burn fat, build muscle, and shed pounds safely. We know it's not as easy as applying a cream. But it's more effective. See for yourself.

The Workout
A science-based, fat-blasting plan for a firmer butt and sleek thighs This two-pronged exercise program helps minimize the lumpy, bumpy appearance of cellulite. Aerobic exercise like walking and running burns fat, while lower-body moves such as squats and lunges build muscle.

To maximize fat loss, you'll do 200 minutes of cardio a week the amount found to produce the greatest weight loss including high-intensity exercise to rev your calorie burn for up to 19 hours after a workout. You should see the slimming, smoothing results in 4 weeks!

The Expert
Chris Freytag, contributing fitness editor and creator of Prevention's Fight Cellulite Fast! DVD, designed these workouts and models the moves

Your Plan at a Glance

Part 1: Burn Off Cellulite
5 days a week, blast fat with two types of cardio routines: Intense Workouts (an interval program that builds from fitness walks to calorie-blasting runs) and Moderate Workouts (any aerobic activity you enjoy).

Part 2: Tone, Smooth, and Firm
3 days a week, tone your muscles by doing 6 strengthening moves. (Take a day off between these workouts.)

Weeks 1 & 2
Do 1 set of 12 repetitions of each exercise.

Weeks 3 & 4
Repeat the circuit twice so you're doing 2 sets of each exercise.

Weeks 5-8
Repeat the circuit 3 times, so you're doing 3 sets of each exercise. On the third set, instead of holding each move, pulse for 3 counts by lifting and lowering a few inches before returning to the start position.

Part 2: Tone, Smooth, and Firm
These six moves tone your hips, butt, and thighs the most common sites for cellulite. For each move we offer an easier option, in case the main move is too difficult. If it's too easy, increase the intensity of the standing exercises by holding dumbbells. To avoid injury, warm up with 5 minutes of marching in place or do these moves directly after your cardio workout when muscles are already warmed.

1. Squat Kickback
Stand with feet together, toes pointing forward, and arms bent at sides. Bend knees and hips into a squat, as if you were sitting in a chair (A), and hold for 3 counts. As you rise, press right leg back and squeeze glutes (B). Hold for 1 count, then lower. Switch legs after each set.
Make it easier: Don't squat as deeply, and keep toes on floor when pressing back.

2. Curtsy and Kick
Stand with feet together, hands on hips. Step right foot behind left leg and bend knees until left thigh is almost parallel to floor (A). Keep left knee over ankle. Hold for 3 counts. As you stand back up, kick right leg out to side before doing another curtsy (B). Switch legs after each set.
Make it easier: Skip the kick and bring feet together between each curtsy.

3. PliƩ Sweep
Stand with feet wide apart, toes pointing out, and hands on hips. Keeping back straight and abs tight, tuck tailbone and bend knees, lowering until thighs are almost parallel to floor (A). Hold for 3 counts. As you stand up, sweep left leg across body, as if you're kicking a soccer ball (B). Switch legs after each set.
Make it easier: Eliminate the leg sweep.

4. Glute Squeeze
Lie on floor with knees bent, feet beneath knees and hip-width apart. Keeping hips level and abs tight, press into heels and squeeze glutes, lifting hips to form a bridge. Lower hips halfway to floor for 2 counts, then press back up. (Instead of pulses on your third set, do a Hip Rock: In bridge position, squeeze left buttocks and lift left hip. Repeat on right side. That's 1 rep.)
Make it easier: Lower hips to floor between reps.

5. Bun Burner
Get on all fours, with hands beneath shoulders, knees beneath hips, and abs tight. Extend right leg behind you so it's in line with back, toes pointed and hips square to floor. Pull knee into chest (A), contracting abs, and extend leg back out 12 times. Next, extend right leg (B) and pulse, lifting and lowering a few inches, 12 times. Then bend right leg so sole of foot faces ceiling (C) and pulse 12 times. That's 1 set. Repeat with left leg. (No need to add additional pulses when you progress to 3 sets.)
Make it easier: Place forearms on floor.

6. Pass Through Lunges
Stand with feet together, hands on hips. Step right foot forward 2 to 3 feet and bend knees, lowering until right thigh is parallel to floor. Keep right knee over ankle. Hold for 1 count. In one swift movement, press off right foot and bring it behind you. (Left foot doesn't move.) Lower into another lunge so left thigh is parallel to floor, holding for 1 count. Continue passing right foot through into a front then a back lunge without bringing feet together. Switch legs after each set.
Make it easier: Rather than pushing through from front to back in one swift movement, bring feet together before going into back lunge.

The Cellulite Solution Exercise Plan
Follow this 3-step, 20-minute program 3 days a week, and watch those ripples disappear.

Step 1: Cardio--Warm up with 2 minutes of moderate walking, cycling, or stairclimbing (you can use indoor stationary machines). Increase intensity for 8 minutes. Work vigorously enough to be breathing hard but still able to talk in short sentences. Lower the intensity, and cool down for 2 minutes.

Step 2: Strength--Do one set of 10 to 15 repetitions of each of the following exercises, using a heavy enough weight to fatigue the muscles. (This is essential for optimum muscle building in these areas.) Your muscles are fatigued when you feel as though you can't do even one more repetition. When you can easily complete 15 reps, increase the weight slightly. Work slowly, counting 2 seconds to lift and 4 seconds to lower.

Step 3: Flexibility-- After each strength training exercise, you need to stretch the muscle you just worked. Do each stretch once, holding for 20 seconds. Dr. Westcott has found that adopting this stretching strategy can boost strength training results by 20 percent.

http://www.prevention.com/images/clear.gif http://www.prevention.com/images/clear.gif http://www.prevention.com/images/clear.gif http://www.prevention.com/images/cma/banish_squeeze.gif
Lie faceup with your arms at your sides. Bend your knees slightly, and raise your legs so they form a 90-degree angle with your body. (If this is too difficult, bend your knees more and lift your legs only as high as is comfortable.) Place an inflated exercise ball (the kind you use for abdominal crunches) between your knees; your feet should be flexed. Slowly squeeze your legs together against the resistance of the ball as hard as you can, making sure to keep your knees bent slightly. When the resistance becomes too great to press any farther, hold for 3 seconds. Then slowly open back to the starting position.

Stretch

On-the-Ball Ab Curl
http://www.prevention.com/images/clear.gif http://www.prevention.com/images/clear.gif http://www.prevention.com/images/clear.gif http://www.prevention.com/images/cma/banish_ballcurl.gif
Sit on an exercise ball with your feet on the floor shoulder-width apart. Fold your arms across your chest. Lean back (the ball will roll slightly forward) so that your rear and the small of your back are pressing against the ball. Contract your abdominal muscles, and lift your shoulders forward a few inches. Hold, then lower.

Stretch
http://www.prevention.com/images/clear.gif http://www.prevention.com/images/clear.gif http://www.prevention.com/images/clear.gif http://www.prevention.com/images/cma/banish_ballcurlstretch.gif
Follow with a ball stretch: Start in the same position as the ab curl. Move your hands behind your head and relax your body, letting it drape over the ball. You should feel a stretch along your midsection.

I asked this in the what day are you on thread, and I haven't seen an answer and am not sure there is one but I will start first with the definition of cellulite then follow with my question:

A colloquial term for deposits of subcutaneous fat and fibrous tissue that cause a dimpling effect on the overlying skin. These deposits most commonly occur on the thighs and hips of women. Though diet and exercise can diminish cellulite, a large part of cellulite is comprised of toxins and fat that accrue within the body. Cellulite can affect men and women of any body weight or size.

Now my question:

I wonder if this detox moblizes the toxins within the cellulite/fat sites and reduces it at all? It has always been my understanding that one must really exercise/move and massage the areas affected as well as proper diet. If this cleanse is removing toxins and fat holds all those toxins we are basically mobilizing those two things when we eliminate correct?

Has anyone had a NOTICABLE reduction in cellulite on this cleanse at any point, either a day or at the end or on the third cleanse... I am so curious. I am not riddled with this, thank goodness, but I would like to improve my outside as the inside is improving. Thanks so so so much for any comments.

I am at the end of day 4, and I feel glorious except for nasty breath, which, of course, is a good sign.

Thank you all for reading and commenting ... if this gets posted.

I'm on Day 10 of my 3rd MC. Just thought I'd let you know my results re: cellulite.

On my first 2 cleanses I was able to exercise a lot - lots of energy - I was riding my bike on average 27 km's per day, walking and rollerblading. There was a substantial change in the appearance of cellulite on my butt.

This time however, I found that I was lacking energy much of the time and I didn't do much exercise - there were some changes to the cellulite - but the changes were not nearly as dramatic as when I was cleansing AND exercising.

I am thin to begin with (5'3" approx 110lbs) and I've been a vegetarian for 7 years. I've been cleansing regularly since I went veg and yet I still have cellulite. Cellulite is not just on overweight people - in fact, they are now finding that once somoene gets too thin, the cellulite becomes more obvious-this may be because there are fewer normal fat cells around the cellulite cells so the cellulite cells stand out more.

The moral of the story here is - the MC COMBINED with EXERCISE is effective in diminishing the appearance of cellulite. But don't try to get tooooo thin, or the cellulite will become more obvious.

Cupping is an ancient massage modality. It is similar to "skin rolling" and actually lifts the fascia from the muscle. I would google it and read more. You should be able to find a massage therapist to offer it.
I read that is actually reduces cellulite.

Anyone hear that cellulite could be caused by lack of circulation in those areas? It seems as if it may be true for me. I sit a lot in the job that I do and find that my cellulite is more prominant on the back of my thighs and buttocks. Also I tend to wear tight fitting clothes, especially jeans and that could contribute to cellulite on the "inside" of my thighs. And the occasional ripple (but less noticeable) on my waist (where my pants fit tight around my waist).

Anyone else notice this? I was thinking that if this is true, then wearing looser fitting clothes, exercising more to increase circulation and of course the always recommended massaging the area, could help. But I'm not certain.

That could explain why some thin people may get cellulite (constant sitting or tight clothes)

I started exercising (walking) last week in preparation for my cleanse, which I will undertake at the end of next week, after I get back home. I tried the MC a year ago and failed miserably, but I did not take the time to wean myself off caffeine and other stuff, so my symptoms were intolerable. This time, I am taking several weeks, changing my diet to include lots more fresh fruits and veggies, and eliminating processed sugar, junk food, caffeine, and the like. I really want to have a successful cleanse and I want to be able to exercise while on it. We'll see!

MC2: I haven't been losing much weight per say, but last night I looked at myself in the mirror and noticed a huge decrease in my cellulite. Even when I was exercising constantly my thighs have never looked so good. I'm going to start exercising again after this MC and I hope that it never comes back.

What were your final results?

Women who have a pear shape tend to get cellulite the most. I first noticed cellulite on me when i was 15, never knew what it was, by the time I was 27 it was in stage 4 cellulite. My mother is 65 and has smooth skin-no cellulite so i didnt inherate it.
I spent thousand on velasmooth and it does nothing. I also exercised like mad-no results.

I'm hoping the cleanse reduces it. Even celebs have cellulite, like Sharon Stone, Britney Spears, Donatella verscae, Halle Berry, Eva Longoria, I even saw it on Beyonce and Jessica Simpson, Cristina Augulera- their dancers and still have it.

Hey there,

This is my first full out cleanse, so I'm a bit of a newbie. Sorry if this is repeated, eventhough I've checked other posts.

Does anyone know if this helps to get rid of cellulite?

Thanks so much!
Erin

hello all!
i wanted to share an experience with you about cellulite.
i am on day six of my 1st cleanse. its going ok... a little bumpy here and there (pun intended!);)
yesterday i went out to do a little shopping for a few summer items to wear to an event i will attend soon, and just to have them in the wardrobe.
my weight is down a little (5lbs) on the cleanse so far and i am average weight...with pretty significant cellulite all my life! (in highschool a class mate who was much much bigger than my then very small frame, exclaimed over my cellulite. she had none.)
so...after finding a few short/peddle pushers that were so cute on me i was ecstatic! (and holding on to them for dear life :D). 1 pair was even white! impossible to wear nicely for a woman with cellulite, and the other a medium toned green very thin cotton with some stretch...also hard to pull off when you have cellulite. it was like some weird shopping miracle.
then it dawned on me... so...there under horrible florescent lighting, in a thong, i did it!...i turned around to see! and wouldnt you know it my cellulite is greatly reduced!
not completely gone mind you...but significantly reduced. i was astounded and had no idea the cleanse would or could help with that. i had also noticed my arms looked smoother as well. hooray!!
so i wanted to let you guys know my experience.
it just one more reason to keep me eating better after the cleanse. to help from getting back that bad cellulite!

:) stay positive lemon heads! :)

If you want to target your cellulite - the MC is perfect because it addresses ridding the body of toxins. The body creates fat to protect itself from toxins. Reduce toxins - reduce fat.

After you finish your cleanse I HIGHLY recommend The Fat Flush Plan by Ann Louise Gittleman. I guarantee her program will reduce, if not eliminate your cellulite. And it will work faster after being on the MC.

Good Luck!!!

I heard about the cupping system a couple of months ago on another board.(flexaway) Out of curiosity I ordered a cheap one from ebay($20.00) just to see if it worked. The person using it on the other board used it on her face(gently) to help with circulation and also mention how well it works on cellulite I wanted to wait until I started my MC before I tried it. I figured if its going to remove anything this would be the best time to try it. I'm on day 6 of my first cleanse I have to say I actually see a difference. I'm amazed!I exercise regularly and lift weight every other day and still have those ugly lumps on the back of my thighs. This is the first thing I ever tried that made a difference. Its really quite easy to do. I had before pictures on my camera and was planning on taking after picture but my teenage son deleted them before I could put them on my computer. I hope this helps somebody.
