Ok first off let me give you a little background about myself, I am 25 year old male, 5-11 225. I workout and play basketball 4-5 times a week. I am a big guy but not fat. Chubby around the gut and waist though. I smoke about a 1/2 pack of newports a day, and binge drink on weekends. I eat crappy food at least 3 times a week. I drink at least 3 diet cokes a day.
So I felt I needed to cleanse my body and change my eating habits........So I did a little reading about the Master Cleanser, and I'm approaching the conclusion of day one!!!
So the first day of the cleanse started off well, I felt very good up until the evening. I had a little tension on my head during the day but nothing major.......but then it just hit me, I felt weak, nauseated, and the muscles in my neck began to ache annoyingly. These symptoms lasted for about an hour, and now I just feel a little tension in my head, and a little out of sorts.
Everyone thinks I'm crazy for going on this, my family laughs, my girl wont even kiss me(as I now type) due to my bad breath. SO I am writing on these forums to hear other's advice, and suggestions for doing a proper cleanse, and any other tips and tidbits that will guide me in the right direction. I know the basics such as the recipe, the Sea Salt Flush, the Herbal laxative tea etc etc. Anything will help, because as of right now I am craving a smoke, food, and caffeine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do have the will power to do this, and I can sense the toxins leaving my body!!! Are there any dangers, or things I should keep an eye on? Thanks, and sorry this is so long, but now this forum is my best friend for the next few weeks!!!!! Oh and how about playing Basketball and lifting weights?? Can I go heavy or light? etc etc

the answers you're looking for are all over this board, just look around and read up and you'll find everything.

here's an introduction to newbies:

my first advice would be to purchase "The Master Cleanse" by Stanley Burrough and "Lose weight have more energy and be happier in ten days" by Peter Glickman. The Master Cleanse explains the cleanse and how to do it and why, and How to... explains what to expect and how to make sure you do the cleanse right, it basically answers alot of questions not covered in the book by Stanley Burroughs.

next advice, would be to read up on the bulletin board. Check out other people's experiences, their questions, their struggles. No one is exactly like you but people have similar experiences and you can read and see what they went through and where they are now to get some ideas on how it might be for you, to know more of what to expect and to be encouraged. You can learn so much from other's mistakes and successes. Which is one reason why this site is so helpful.
THe threads at the top of the page in the Master Cleanse forum, are "stickies" and they are basically stuck at the top so you always see them because they are so important. These cover all the basic and major topics about the cleanse and are good to read to get a grasp on what to expect and what others have experienced.

Next, read the thread in the link below, General Help for Newbies. it has advice, tips and help with how to deal with everything from headaches to cramping and reasons why you should or shouldn't do certain things on the cleanse. It's good to read when starting off the cleanse and before posting on the Bulletin board because what you're asking in a new post may have already been covered in there. (Also, utilize the search option at the top of the page to search for anything from "smokers" to "IBS" to "weightloss" to find threads that contain information on those topics and see what others have said and done.)

Lastly, when you're ready to start, have all your ingredients and are ready to take the plunge, join us on the "2006 what day are you on" thread that a sticky on the top of the master cleanse forum and introduce yourself and check in as often as you like to receive and give support, tips and encouragement.

Hope this helped.
Let us know if you have any other questions. There are alot of people here to help and encourage you. The first step is to get informed.

Sounds like you need to drink more water along with the lemonade; would help with the aches and pains. Peppermint tea for the bad breath. Dangers? I don't think so; haven't heard of any. Keep your basketball on hold untill you're eatting again. You can lift weights, but go light; nothing like you usually do. Your body needs the energy to clean you out so you should be resting. Any plans on changing your diet once you're through the cleanse?

Hi, everyone above has great advice. I would def do peppermint tea, its also a nice break from the lemonade. Def drink more water and just rest when you feel tired and weak. Thats what I did the first time I did the MC. When I was tired, I slept, sat on couch and read or watched dvd's.

Good luck! Really glad to read about you wanting to clean out your system, hopefully after the cleanse you will feel the rewards and change your eating habits. :)

Well I'm finishing up day 5 and I actually feel pretty good. I have lost 8 pounds since the cleanse, and my desire to eat has gone down significantly. Since my first day I haven't really had many detox symptoms. The only one that I do have is a rash(not itchy) on certain parts of my body. On my thighs and the inside of the arms especially. Also there are small bumps on my feet. and some pimples have appeared on my back and arms(none on my face however. Toungue is still white, but not as thick as before. Has anyone else had these rashes? And how long do they usually last? Other than that, it's going great, and I might up the orginal 10 day plan to 14 days!!

Hi Mike:

Nice Intro. ;) A LOT of members get the bumpy/rash/thing. Sometimes it lasts the duration of the cleanse, other times just a few days to a week. Each person is different so we'll have to wait and see.

Congrats on making it to Day 5!! That's a big deal! :D

Love,
