One of my problems with eating a lot of raw greens is washing vegetables. I buy salads already mixed and prewashed (probably prewashed with tap water..) just because it's cleaner than veggies sitting on a shelf for everyone to touch and collect germs. I have access to a variety of organics..but the part where they sit on the shelf all open like that is gross.
At least with hard fruit you can dry most of it off..but those leafy veggies soak all that crap right up. I can't afford a $400+ water filter/distiller/purifier. I was looking at the Brita filters and they're not too impressive. They think it's a good thing that it doesn't remove flouride. "dentists recommend it!"
I thought of blanching. I rather kill a few nutrients than absorb a few chemicals in the water. But boiling water doesn't kill the crap in the water either.
Ugh. Anyone else with this problem? ???
