View Full Version : Anyone else between day 5 and day 10?
July 29th, 2006, 01:56 PM
I'm on day 6 of my first MC (I tried starting a few times in the past), and I really want to keep it together til I cross the finish line (min day 10, maybe go to 14). I've done everything by the book so far (with the exception of licking my maple syrup spoon occasionally after swirling it in my lemonade and about three sips of watered down coffee a couple days back) and have had some ups and downs (yesterday I was starving all day!). I've lost 11 lbs (!!!!) - went from 200 to 189 this morning.
I can't believe how much I miss food, but other than that I feel really good about getting this far. I had to go grocery shopping today for more supplies, and I just needed to get out of there fast!!
I think it would be good to include a little exercise which I haven't been able to so far. A couple of walks at least. I usually get cardio 3-5 times a week.
So - if you're out there - write back!
p.s. I chose my handle - Superlceanser- to psyche myself up - I had no idea if I could do it or not!

Today is day 6 for me. I'm doing pretty good so far, trying to stay motivated. same as you, my motivation is that I have lost some weight and I really need to lose more. this morning i weighed at 231.8 down from 242.6 at the start. so I'm very excited about that.

whoa hellajelly - that weight loss is awesome. stepping on the scale in the morning is my favorite part of this,uh, journey. How many days are you going for?

I guess I am planning on 10 days. I think any longer than that and I will go crazy from the boredom.
Keep up the good work, you're already half way there! :p

I agree. Anything longer and I will die from boredom too. All social events are put on hold and I am living the life of a hermit.

it doesn't have to be like that though.
Ive gone out for drinks, dinner and all types of social events while on the MC. I just take the lemonade with me and enjoy my friends' company. I actually threw a party while I was on my last MC.
That's how you know you're really strong and have broken your addiction to food - if you can cook and be around it and be fine.
go out and enjoy the weather. go for a walk. go to the pool. go to non food centered events.
the first couple days are the hardest. my first week was horrible. i didn't start feeling like my usual cheery and energetic self until day 7. Just stick to it. Drink more lemonade. Drink more water. Sit out in the sunshine. Visit the boards. Take a nap. Just do whatever it takes to make it thru.
I believe in you!

pardon me, was just trying to be supportive. didn't know threads on here were exclusive.
when i did my first mc it helped to hear from people who had been where i am and from others who had different experiences. i would never have attempted to work out on mc1 if it wasn't for hearing from them. i was where most of you are last week even, and i just wanted to say that it'll pass, just keep pushing through, and give support and suggestions to help.
but now i feel like my comments aren't welcomed here.

it wasn't meant to make you feel unwelcome-just to give another viewpoint in depth. I know we all have good intentions.

Hey Supercleanser! how are you doing today on day 7?
I feel pretty good today. I spent the night at a friends house and I told her all about the cleanse and loaned her my copy of Burrough's book and now she and her dad have both decided to go on the cleanse. I was just really glad that I could encourage someone else to get healthy.
I guess my main complaint today is that my mouth feels really strange, perhaps from lack of chewing. I don't know, hopefully it will pass by tomorrow morning.
Good luck Beth! you're doing great :)

Today is day 5 for me...it's the first day that I really don't feel hungry. I am feeling very motivated to get to day 10. I think I will stop then because it's my first time. I have kept my activity pretty low key so far...might try to go to yoga tomorrow night.

glad to hear folks are doing well. My day 7 has been my most, um, comfortable, I guess you could say, so far. I definitely felt more clear-headed and a little more energetic. I went to a movie (the smell of the popcorn was soooo delicious - my mouth watered!) and went for a small bike ride. It just goes to show how everyone's different - I heard the 7th day was supposed to be the hardest next to 2 and 3.
The best thing is that I feel much more confident about getting to day10. It's my first cleanse, too. And really, I'm just amazed - in the back of my mind I always doubted that I could do it!!
It's almost 8:00 - that magical time of day when it's almost time for bed and I know I can't chalk the day up as a success. Phewww!
Good luck to everyone - talk to you tomorrow.

Beth, I know what you mean about bed time and feeling that you've made it another day successfully. This is a mental journey as well as physical. I am on day 8 and I play mental games w/ myself, like, " tomorrow I'll be able to say, 'tomorrow is my last day!"
Anyway, the last few days have gone well. I haven't gotten to that clear headed stage yet and I'm still hungry here and there. But I'm totally fine for the most part.
I'm only going 10 days. I have a big anniversary get away to get ready for this next weekend. My husband is ready to have his eating buddy back.
